This is getting unnerving. Not only do I dream consistently about Firefly night after night, not only do all these dreams somehow involve reaching new heights of affection with Kaylee or River...but I digress. So, we were out on a track job the other day (rebuilding a switch). Now when you spend ten to twelve hours a day working on railroad track, the banter is as hot and heavy as the jackhammer I use to drive rail spikes. So I struggle briefly with this one particularly troublesome spike - just won't go in straight for love or money - until at last I jam it into the tie, snug against the rail, and exclaim, "No power in the 'verse can stop me!" Within the hour, somebody else has made some kind of smart-ass "Queen of the Universe" remark. Needless to say, I'm quick to enlighten him about what I really said...and thus my lid flips like a Boston driver. I recite Wash's dinosaur routine in its entirety, coinciding "NOW DIE!" with the hammering of another spike. A wide berth is given me almost immediately by the rest of the track gang, much to my delight. (Say, I wonder if all this one-on-one time with Kaylee or River is my brain's way of telling me I've been working too hard?)

Okay people, I can't get to the theatres, but I desprately want to see the movie so I'd like to live vicariously through those of you who can. Tell me all about it please, funny lines, funny moments, what Nathan's character was like. I very rarely enjoy this kind of film but this one looks good.

As some of you might know, I had a previous blog up that said that I am in consideration for two summer jobs that would be pretty kick ass if I were to get either one of them. Well, yesterday I got some info on both of them. The CPR job is still up in the air. I got a letter from them saying that my medical profile was incomplete and that I had to get these forms they sent me filled out by my optometrist. Thought it would take a while, but as it turns out, a "while" was more like ten minutes. I faxed the formed to their offices and I should know by Monday or so if I have that job. I really hope I get that one, because the herbicide applicator thing is a bust. Called the guy, said that they found the guys that were qualified for the position and that they didn't need as many as they had thought, so that's that. On the plus side, I got a REALLY good tax refund check from the gov't, so moneys not that big of an issue now so that if May rolls around and I still don't have anything, I'm not immediately screwed. I really need the CPR job. Even though I enjoy working on the farm during the summer, I don't want to keep coming back to my folks for more money. I need to make it on my own at an actual job, and not unloading trucks at SARCAN. I want to be able to have enough money at the end of the summer so that I could afford to take some summer courses next year to get caught up in my courses. And even though I've been saving these summer position e-mails from the student employment center, I see them more as exercises in futility.

So, JanaFae was annoyed at me for ending my most recent fic, "Clumsy," where I did. Well, I was chatting with her, and she somehow talked me into writing a, shall we say, extended edition of the fic...take a look at the ending and you'll probably see what I mean. Anyway, I don't think I'll be posting it here on the site, but I wanted to get some opinions. Therefore, if you're interested in reading it, comment here and let me know if you think I should post it or just email it to the interested readers... Don't worry, no one will judge you. Now I've (no thanks to me, since the show sells itself) converted 4-newbies to the FireFly Verse. I'm far too scared to lend out the DVDs to my dates (what if they don't return them, how can I convert any more Geeks?), since I'm stuck at home looking like a pirate-tess whilst recovering from major eye surgery - the only thing I can really see well is FireFly & Serenity, imagine that! :) Also, I can only conclude that my dates are very near-sighted from many years of working on computers, since they seem to think I look great, black patch & all. I look blurry to me! At any rate, all 4 of these wonderful guys have since purchased the "full" season of FireFly, in addition one purchased the movie Serenity. Seems like I'll need to keep dating more Geeks (since they have great taste in TV)to continue boosting sales, to do my little part to get the network execs to listen to us fans...will they? Nah. It'd only mean tons of money lining their pockets if they brought back the show - & they wouldn't want that, would they? Joss, you're brilliant!

So, I finally got my car back on Friday after almost four weeks. The garage surprised me several times over: I could (and thus did) pay over the phone, and they drove it to my house for me, which saved me the incredible difficulty of getting to them from where I work before they close (earliest I can leave work is four pm, takes just over an hours to get there and they close at 5.15, bloody useless). Then, they had even washed the car, both the outside *and* the inside too! But then there was the final surprise. When I went out Friday evening, everything was fine for the first ten minutes or so. The fuel gauge was on a quarter, and all was well. Then the needle took a nosedive and suddenly the engine was stuttering, and slowing and speeding up again. I wisely turned around before I started down the really big hill that is on my route and headed back for the nearest petrol station, at the bottom of a fairly steep and quite winding road. I had my foot on the clutch so it'd roll, but the thing kept stalling and the power going off, so I had no foot brake and the power steering wasn't. I could barely turn (on the aforementioned winding downhill road) and all I had to stop myself was the handbrake. Eventually I just turned off (or rather kept going straight, since I couldn't steer) into a side road and pulled on the handbrake, skidding to a stop in the middle of a junction. Needless to say, I was a mite irritable by this point. Some helpful folks helped me to get the car over the curb that was between me and the handily placed local shop car park right infront of me, then I headed down to the petrol station on foot. Bought a petrol can, filled it, paid, went back to the car and filled it up. Hey presto, it worked again. Drove it to that petrol station and filled it up all the way. After that, it was perfectly fine. It's not that they didn't put any petrol in it, because no one would expect them to do that. It's that they didn't *fucking* tell me my car had practically no petrol in it and wouldn't go more than five miles without requiring a refill. And there's a petrol station just less than a mile away from my house, so if I had known I could've gone right there and there would've been no problem. All in all, the people at that garage are a useless bunch of bastards who could well have fucking killed me if I had continued on down that big hill. So, yeah, that was fun.

Just in case you don't know, I live in Hawaii. Generally speaking, that means temperatures in the upper-70s to mid-80s most days, and mid-60s to low-70s most nights, with a dose of high humidity now and then. Not the ideal weather for me to own a duster of any kind (humidity more than anything else) let alone a brown one. That being said, for the last

Well, guys, it's been a hectic week between work and trying to get the DMV to give me back my drivers liscense not to mention drawing about a zillion angel cover roughs, I've barely had time to eat or sleep...Well, no one said it was going to be easy, at least no one said it to me.. On the good news front they accepted four of my roughs which I finished and submitted..I guess it's up to Boreanaz's agents to approve the final covers before they can be published.. I'm also drawing some firefly related pieces for the yahoo virtual season..and I'm looking to have those finished up next week some time... Also managed to watch our captian get slimed in Slither..Nathan's pretty good in it, but Greg Henry's Hi-larious all and all a good time if your a fan boy (raises hand)..

Slither's out and a runnin' theme in all the reviews is how good Nathan is in it (Which we already knew!). Seems others might finally be noticin' our Captain, and the sooner the better. I think he's a great actor who truly deserves to be noticed, and maybe more roles will come his way. I for one would definately love to see more of him on the big screen. He's just soo pretty...*sigh*

I'll have to thank those guys who suggested the new series of Doctor Who to me. Since it's debut on SciFi I haven't missed an episode. This is in part due to mastering the remote of my VCR. I can see so much of Joss' humor in the writting of the show, and a real passion in all those who've made this show, so familiar to Firefly.

I loved Slither. It was good to see some of the old gang. I think that the delivery that Capt. Tightpants gave was completly worth going to the movie for. There were several people in there and I think that by word of mouth this movie will get a lot of people to see it. I'm glad that we went to see it. It was gross in spots, but still very funny.

Zoe has always been one of my favorite characters because she's almost more mysterious than Mal or River, my other favs. She keeps everything so tight inside, and Joss never really got a chance to tell us anything solid about her. It's so hard to tell what she's really thinking, though her bonds with Mal and Wash and the rest of the crew are clear. Maybe I just like her so much because she's a soldier, and female, and doesn't take any shit from anyone...

i'm not sure, but i think i'm on the edge of my very first conversion... watched Serenity with my sister and she squeaked when the operative was smacking mal about and sticking a dirty great sword into him, laughed at the funny bits and even figured out that the reavers were the bad guys. on her own. without me explaining. then again, even my mother knew that. yeah, my mother knows that reavers are bad, simon is the cute doctor, mal is the captain, book's the old guy and the last time she saw jayne, he was a bad guy (we watched ariel last week). she was even disappointed when wash was killed and kept asking if the rest of the crew were going to die. that's my momma, morbid as hell and filthy-minded to boot. i'm so proud *wipes tear from eye* also, you should have seen my brother's faces light up when mal fired the anti-aircraft gun in the pilot episode. the influence is spreading!!! it's like a virus or something, but a good one. b hey, i just had a thought. it's exactly a year and a day since i first saw Firefly YAY!!! :smokin:

Hi, I Think I have found a way to bring Firefly back to the small screen. First off, I do not pretend to know much about finance, but from what I understand the main reason no tv network has brought Firefly back was becouse it was becouse of money. as Tony Montana once said "First you get the money, Then you get the power". I prefer "it's called the golden rule: whoever has the gold, makes the rules". If you can't see what this has to do with Firefly, please just stick with me a little longer. In the business world stock is the equivelent of gold. When you own a companys stock you own part of that company, giving you more influence in the company than the average guy. Let's say that afew people buy 15 shares of stock each, in the same company. 15 shares is not that much, but if that group was working together it all adds up. Suppose there are over 500 members of this site. Now if say 250 of those members, thats less then half, each bought 15 shares of stock in the same company, that would a total of 3750 shares of stock. Now if that company happened to be a tv network like Sci-Fi channel or Spike tv, then a petition from the stock-holders would carry more weight than a pettition from the general public. We would have the "gold" so we would be able to influence the rules, and mabey, just mabey, be able to bring back Firefly! We also have one thing that the cable companies do not have, Microsoft! That may sound pretty lame, but Paul Allen is a major Sci-Fi fan. He owns captain Kirk's chair and a life sized replica of the Alien, from the movie Alien. I think this is just crazy enough to work, I mean, I have seen a few petitions to start up Firefly again, but I have yet to see one made that was signed by stock holders! let me know what you think.

I met my first Browncoats this weekend. It was riggin awesome. I am still riding a high from it. To quote Jayne from the pilot...WOOOOO!!! (or at least I think that was what he was shouting after the crazy ivan) And speaking of Jayne...I hate players. Not that Jayne is a player. But I have a friend who treats guys like dirt and they eat it up. Why is that? Do they think that they can miraculously cure her of her trampy ways? Is that why girls like bad guys? Do they hope to change them of their wicked ways? Is that why I drawn to Jayne like a moth to a flame? I hope not. I would love to spend a night with Jayne, but I would want to marry Mal. But not Wash. He is already married. Married guys scare me. Too much potential for bad karma. And Don't Forget to vote for Firefly @

Well my friend has been gone for two weeks now but we keep in touch. I sent her a Simon wallpaper and she put it on her laptop. I am still waiting to hear what her favorite episodes were when we watched the whole series at my house. But since then I have been watching an episode every couple of days or so, when I feel I need a little Serenity in my life. I watched Out of Gas yesterday. It is one of my favorites though I love the whole series. Some other favorite, favorites include Our Mrs. Reynolds, War Stories, Serenity Parts 1&2, Ariel, Shindig. And to boot, I had another Firefly dream the other night. Kind of bizarre- the crew was in my world, like now, and they were helping me set up for this big party event. Mal had to take me shopping! Weird I know! I put a great Mal wallpaper on my desktop. It shows him at the helm leaning back in his chair his leg propped up on the console. There is his name and a quote in gold from Shindig "Mercy is the mark of a great man, guess I'm just a good man. Well, I'm alright." Shiny!

I've been away from Fireflyfans.net for far too long. Things have been out of control lately at home. What with mom being sick and me taking her to the hospital for her chemo treatments and her rehydration, then grandmom with her surgery coming up, I'm spending more and more time out of the house than ever. Neither one of them can really do housework, so I'm finding myself cleaning three houses some weeks. It's no wonder this past weekend I did over ten loads of laundry in two days. My house is falling apart at the seams, but I am content in knowing that my mom and my grandmom are taken care of. Now if only my aunts and uncles would help pick up some slack from time to time, it'd free me up some. Even my mom said today that I do more than most of my aunts and uncles. There are 12 of them besides my mom, after all! (that doesn't even include spouses) And I think I bit off more than I can chew sometimes on the 'internet' front. MalNourished, FollowMal and I are gathering info for a business idea. I'm also trying to do some Moonlight Rising stuff. Everything's just being juggled as best it can, so please don't expect too much from me? Between the kids and everything I've committed to, what you get from me is what you get. :) Sorry it's not A-1 top quality, but it's the best I can do for now, I promise. Back to the title of the post... Asarian asked for more fanfic, so I'll be working on that a bit tonight. I did visit the library for some helpful hints on writing short stories. One of them was written by Dean Koontz, and so far it's been fairly helpful. I'm still stuck on a slight story hiccup but I'm hoping it'll iron itself out eventually. I can't promise anything'll be ready tonight, maybe I'll change it up a bit and send it to beta FIRST! LOL

Once again, here I am to actually *wince* socialize. or something like it. Anyhoo, I just watched King Kong for the first time. All 183 minutes of it. IMO, I think they added too much in. All that stuff with the bugs and sluggy-things down in the ravine, and then in New York on the ice in ?Central Park? Cute, but not exactly necessary. And for some reason, I thought the Empire State building looked like Big Ben, and Kong looked like my dog. You heard me right, my dog. For those of you who care, I'm about half way through chapter 1 of Pirates of the 23rd Century. It is very, very, long. I'm not too pleased with the title at the moment, so I'm open to suggestions. And, for all the world to hear, I'm saying GO TO HELL, DAYLIGHT SAVINGS!!!!! THE SPECIAL HELL!!!!! Now that that's out of my system, I believe I need to *falls asleep*

After umpteen cover roughs and four finished Angel covers the Guys at IDW are harboring doubts as to if they'll fit in with what they're trying to do..Well I've done my best and most detailed work on the finished covers..I can't do any better... so now it's up to IDW..The Sulaco studio guys are trying to convince them but it doesn't look too good...In fact I was told not to produce anymore covers untill further notice So keep what ever crossed you guys cross and hope IDW gives me chance..I'm not going out this time without a fight... Sometimes you just feel overwhelmed, and then someone says something nice and it makes your problems seem not so bad after all. I knew Browncoats were a shiny folk, but just the responses from my last log had me smiling today. There are days when things just pile on a little too high. You don't think that a small compliment or a short word of encouragement has any effect, but it truly does.

Yes, we Browncoats have a new terms in our vocabularies. Use them. Love them. -------------- FLaF - stands for "Fast like a freak". Original usage: Because I tend to do things much more quickly than FollowMal and Malnourished in Yahoo Messenger (eg. leaving the conference before they get a chance to say goodbye), I was labelled FLAF. The term has now stuck. -------------- Oblivacation - a contracted word, originating from obligatory and vacation. It refers to mandatory time off assigned by an employer due to accumulated vacation hours. Original usage: Appreciatin' Nathan thread at SerenityMovie.org by a member who was not happy their vacation was being forced. -------------- Malcentric - having to do with Malcolm Reynolds. Original usage: Appreciatin' Nathan thread at SerenityMovie.org by members whose screen names have 'Mal' included in them.

Now I'm not going to have to rave about Firefly on my LJ, where no one will understand :disappointed:. So. First entry. Well. I haven't seen every episode yet, I'm saving up so I don't go through them too quickly. I want to savour every moment. Adam Baldwin singing "The Hero of Canton" is really funny. He's wearing a knit cap. Heh. 'The man they call meeeeee....!'

The following is the theoretical component I submitted along with my creative piece (Red Herring). Both were created for my Controversies in Feminism class. Both works focus on Inara Serra and her depiction as a Companion and sex-worker. * * * * The Firefly phenomenon is an interesting one. How often does a canceled television program (which didn’t even finish its first season) sell millions of DVD’s and get turned into a major motion picture? My answer to this is character. The distinct strength and qualities of Joss Whedon’s nine main cast members are the essence of true character. Nine people and the events that lead them to the tenth character Serenity, make for truly original television. Dry-wit, intensely dark at times and a recurring theme of loyalty create a specific vision, which Whedon is now infamous for. Described by some as a space-western, Firefly explored Whedon’s vision of the future. Colonized, yet dispersed in more ways then one. I decided to focus on the character of Inara Serra for several reasons. First, in the future, if you’re a registered Companion your work is legal. Whedon makes a distinction between Companion’s and “common whores” – that distinction being an official license. Second, even though Serenity is crewed by noble war veterans, a preacher and a genius surgeon, Inara’s work as a Companion is what opens the most doors for the ship, granting her the nickname of the “ambassador”. Third, throughout the first and only season of Firefly, thick tension is evident between Mal and Inara. He has obvious issue with her “whore’n.” Inara’s main rebuttal is that of: “You have no call to try to make me ashamed of my job, what I do is legal.” Lastly, the issues generally surrounding Inara and her work as a Companion echo many of the sentiments of today. Whether Mal or Book, the conversations had on Firefly divulge interesting links that can be made to contemporary discourse surrounding sex-work. It’s been suggested that Inara Serra’s character is based on courtesans and geishas. A courtesan is defined as a prostitute with a wealthy upper-class clientele, and a geisha is trained to entertain men with conversation, dance, and song. But as Whedon’s work often does, subtext makes for a polysemic reading of Inara. As put by Joy Davidson: As much as Inara reflects the past, she is equally a contemporary Everywoman, or, more accurately, Everywhore: liberalism’s enterprising dream-girl, radical-feminism’s oppressed victim, the conservative right’s sinful temptress. . .and let’s not forget, popular culture’s love-struck intimacy-phobic, “I-gotta-be-free” girl, too. To any viewer watching Firefly, Inara can be any one, or all of these things. All of these views are also mirrored in her relationships with the crew of Serenity. Mal see’s her as an oppressed victim, “ . . . you think following rules will buy you a nice life, even if the rules make you a slave.” Books initial presence was encountered by “Have you come to lecture me on the wickedness of my ways?” Which immediately integrated the reality of biblical whoredom. One relationship that is not displayed in Davidson’s work is the relationship she has with Kaylee, one of admiration and even encouragement, which is evident throughout the series. One particular example ends in Kaylee saluting Inara with the send-off: “Have good sex!” This example is one I would refer to as being sex-positive. Besides Kaylee the only other reference to a sex-positive existence is by Inara in encountering Mal after he’s had sex with Nandi—an old friend of Inara’s, “One of the virtues of not being puritanical about sex is not being embarrassed afterwards,” she says. In the episode War Stories with the Councilor, and with Fess in Jaynestown, we see part of Inara’s craft as a Companion, which seems somewhat like the work of a therapist. The Councilor voices that her stress is about all the expectations put upon her, especially as a woman in a man’s world. For Fess it’s about his fathers expectations of what makes a man. In both th

Even though legality is a recurring theme in the banter between Inara and Mal, legality takes a back seat to issues of morality. This is made evident in their constant bickering over a Companions work being legal, and Mal’s work being illegal (smuggling). In saying this, Inara usually solicits a response indicatively revolving around issues of morality or virtue. Such as: Inara Serra: ?You have no call to try to make me ashamed of my job. What I do is legal, and how is that smuggling coming? Malcolm Reynolds: My work's illegal, but it's honest. A current theme throughout the series is Malcolm’s obvious disdain for Inara’s job, but as he makes a point of clarifying, not for Inara herself. He respects her, but not what she does. He makes this clear in Shindig, an episode revolving around Inara’s work as a Companion. In this scene Inara teaches Mal how to use a sword: Inara Serra: . . .You don't need strength as much as speed. We're fragile creatures. It takes less than a pound of pressure to cut skin. Malcolm Reynolds: You know that? They teach you that at whore academy? Inara Serra: You have a strange sense of nobility, Captain. You'll lay a man out for Implying I'm a whore, but you keep calling me one to my face. Malcolm Reynolds: I might not show respect to your job, but he didn't respect you. That’s the difference. Inara, he doesn’t even see you. This is an important power dynamic, since as Robert Taylor points out, “Inara, a prostitute, has to instruct Mal, a respected war veteran, on how to properly wage battle . . .” And in this moment of dependence on Inara’s skills, Mal is quick to usurp that power by criticizing the method (or career) through which she came to hold such knowledge (and power). Whether Malcolm’s arguments hold any clout depends on whether or not his intentions towards Inara are to be taken into consideration. Throughout the series romantic tensions between Inara and Malcolm were made evident, making it seem that Mal’s attacks on Inara’s profession had less to do with the job itself and more to do with his affections for her. If Mal’s view were to be taken as objective, his arguments would ring true to a Radical Feminist such as Kathleen Barry. Where Inara says being a Companion is a profession, Mal views her as an oppressed victim unaware of her plight. As Barry would say, “prostitution with or without a woman’s consent is the institutional, economic, and sexual model for women’s oppression.” Barry’s rebuttal against the notion of choice is that what we perceive as choice is really “the form of forcing distinctions between what are essentially non-choices.” And that “appearing to choose is an element of survival,” and that this use of the word “to choose simply means to act . . .. And so women become engaged in establishing the terms of their own commodification.” Which Mal mirrors by stating, “ . . .you think following rules will buy you a nice life, even if the rules make you a slave.” Barry concludes that, “although often represented as sexually liberating, prostitution, fitted to male customer expectations, is a reactionary, regressive, and repressive sexual act.” Barry also makes the essentialist assumption that all clients are male. In the context of Whedon’s view of a totalitarian Alliance regime, few occupations seem to fall outside of the definition of “reactionary, regressive and repressive.” This is evident in Jaynestown, where the “mudders” are depicted as slave labor, and in Shindig where in the opening scene Mal pickpockets from an admitted slave-trader. Even workers who are not considered “slaves” are depicted to be live and work in poor conditions, such as the minors in The Train Job (who are all sick with Bowden’s – a lung disease), and the villagers in Safe, who need a Doctor so badly, they resort to kidnapping. Not to mention the numerous towns, villages, and colony’s shown to be surviving on the barest necessities. In the end Mal responds to Inara’s independence and strength. These two characteristics are most likely what drew

If Inara were the “oppressed victim” both Kathleen Barry and Malcolm Reynolds make her out to be, her realization of his feelings for her could be seen as a possible “out”. And as an “out” she could end her career as a Companion and join the crew of Serenity (as she had in Trash). But, instead Inara sees her relationship with Mal as detrimental to her career, and chooses to leave him behind in order to move forward with work. Her leaving makes for an interesting cut to Malcolm Reynolds ego, in that he assumed his feeling for her would be reason enough to leave her career (and life long training) behind. Whether or not she is truly free is another question. Then again, whether or not any character on Firefly is free is an equally valid question. As put by Mercedes Lackey “she is clearly someone who is near the top rank of that profession. She can go where she chooses and select her clients herself. She is only with Serenity because she wishes to be. Surely of all the crew, she is the one with most real freedom, is she not?” Lackey makes a distinction on the importance of the legality of Inara’s work, and how important it is to said freedom: Her freedom is as thin as the piece of paper her license is printed on. Without it, she’s no longer respected or respectable; she goes from being a sought-after professional to nothing but a lovely and exquisitely trained whore. In Heart of Gold Inara makes that distinction herself when discussing an old friend Nandi who’s in need of assistance: Inara Serra: ?They're not companions. They're whores, Mal. Malcolm Reynolds:?Thought you didn't much care for that word? Inara Serra:?It applies. None who work for Nandi?are registered with the Guild .?. . They're – Malcolm Reynolds: --independent? So it seems Inara herself places the value of her license and the training and certification it represents. In this same example, we see that Malcolm puts the emphasis on the notion of independence. Nandi explains the previous state of the Heart Of Gold ranch and why she left the security of the Guild: Nandi: . . . it occurred to me that a companion's life might just be a little too constricting. So I trucked out to the border, learned to say "ain't" and came to find work. Found this place. Malcolm Reynolds: It's a nice place. Nandi: It was a dung heap. Run by a pig who had half the girls strung out on drops. There's no Guild out here; they let men run the houses, and they don’t ask for references. We didn’t get along. The general consensus of Wendy Chapkis’ article was that “the fewer options you have, the more control you lose.” But in Inara’s case, her access to Serenity and its crew, to her own shuttle, to her client registry and to the protection and guidance of The Guild give her many choices. In Nandi’s case, as an independent navigating the law of her specific planet, as well as the social relations and economic realities—not to mention the added threats of pimps and drug abuse—made for a riskier acquisition of power. Unfortunately, the real questions are those that will most likely go unanswered. What was in the syringe Inara had in the pilot, Serenity? Why did she leave Sihnon (her home planet)? Overall, Inara is portrayed throughout the Firefly series as strong, intelligent and independent, regardless of her work as a sex-worker. Throughout the series the major highlighting of her career and issues of morality and legality were in the context of conversations with Malcolm Reynolds. As such, these conversations were also highly loaded with romantic tension and jealousy. When Inara’s role as “ambassador” is viewed without considering Malcolm Reynolds, her job is seen in a completely different light. Oddly enough in subtracting Malcolm Reynolds from the equation Inara’s work seems considerably less problematic. Then again, Inara thought so too.

What can you say about someone who chooses to walk through fire with you? There are all sorts of ways to be heroic, and all sorts of heros; reluctant, arrogant, accidental, professional or terrified, but the most amazing kind of hero is the one for whom courage comes so naturally he doesn’t even really notice he’s heroic, he’s just doing what he thinks of as the regular old right thing that starts at the beginning of the day.

Posted yet another PWP today. I have no idea why, but that's just the mood I'm in lately. Been looking at pictures of Sean Maher lately, that probably helps... Anyone have any idea what's gotten into the servers lately? I had to re-login three times just to post this. Crazy. Anyway, comment on my fic. Yeah, I'm a feedback whore. What of it?

I've have been so involved in other activities that I have seriously neglected FFF.Net - Hmmmm NOT good. (Note to self - give self a kick up the butt for neglecting FireFly). The problem is I have got so hooked up in my alternate verse "OTR" (Old Time Radio)that I've neglected the others. However, it has been ever so SHINY. I do have another verse I'm involved in, its called 'Reality' but I just choose to ignore it. In my OTR verse I have become a fan of Amos & Andy - an absolute crack up - better than the gorram crap that is on TV these days. FOX could really learn something if the got their gorram head out of their collective as.... oops thats enough of that - I shouldn't be bagging FOX they are such lovely people over there - LOL. :bash: A wee bit of FOX hunting anyone? :blast: Now back to real life - I've been negelcting other things so much I still haven't refreshed my supply of 'Sable' hmmmmmmmmmmm. :crap: Anyway in the OTR verse - I just posted on a forum over there about the Goon Show and found I was blending my two verses, Gorram Paradox! Anyway I thought I would post my forum post here because after I posted it and read it back it made me laugh, and ponder if anyone would have a clue what I was talkin' bout. "Hey Zoot members I was talking with a friend last night about my recent advent into the verse of OTR. He asked me to find out if any of the 'Goon Show' were broadcast over radio. So if anyone else was into the 'Goon Show' and can shed some light - please do, it would be much "SHINY" (this what I get for being a 'FireFly' fan - it effects your 'Gorram' language, but it is ever so 'Shiny')." Oh - I almosty forgot I have watched 'Serenity' again and 'Safe'. I couldn't negelect my passion that much that a week would go by without having a fix - lol, BUT IT IS EVER SO SHINY! "If wishes were horses, we would all be eating steak" - Jayne.

So here's the deal, I'm winding down on the last four and some odd weeks of my semester, which means two major projects that require completion. First happens to be my rhetoric/argumentative class where my tentative idea is to write a film adaptation for

I've been reading posts on this site for months now and every now and then I post a few myself, but this is my first log. Hi to everyone out there meeting me for the first time. I'm glad to know you, because I've noticed that we browncoats are overall good people. And I mean it, every single browncoat I've met has been a decent person. It's hard to find these days, kind of makes us special. I'm just going to starting ranting now (if I haven't already). I've needed a place to rant for a while now so I finally decided to just do it here. I'm just going to start with the most relevent and recent problem I've been struggling with as of late. I've reached a point where I'm halfway through college, I have an idea of what I want to do when I get out and an idea of what my ideal job would be, but what troubles me is that I still have yet to define me. I can't put my finger on it. Who am I really? What is it about me that makes me different from everyone else. I go to a school where I'm surrounded by exceptional people, and at times it makes me feel inadequate. Kind of makes you think "How did I get in here when there are so many better than me?" Sometimes I feel like I just don't have a place where I belong. My roommates have their religions (one a beginner Budhist and ones a near fanatical Christian), but I'm not big on organized religion. So when they leave to go to their thing or visit their girlfriends, kind of leaves me all alone on my own raggedy edge. I guess what I'm looking for is something to be part of, and I guess that's one reason I enjoy being a browncoat so much. Yet I still feel lost and alone sometimes. But I'm working on it. Thanks for listening to the rant.

Chapter two FINALLY got written, typed, and posted. That was one gorram stubborn chapter. Chapter 3, on the other hand, is coming along quite nicely...except for one tiny little detail that will shape a good bit of diolouge for practically the rest of the story. Also...a little plot twist-ish thing that won't leave me alone is gonna result in a lot more little-Jayne flashbacks. Which should be fun, especially if I ever get to include little Jayne w/ lil' sister interactions I've been brainstorming. Also...watch for Simon to have a bad, bad brain twang in coming chapterse. As for the reason I titled this AT LAST...the website wasn't cooperating. Over in community it'd show me as Ladyknight. I click on "My firefly" it takes me to my profile, and suddenly, I'm signed in as "guest" and can't do a gorram thing. I asked in the chat and they said it'd been doing that a lot lately, all week. Hope the tech minds behind the site get that worked out soon. Also...when I finish "Bring me to life", thanks to...gorramit, can't spell her name, a Real-life frend and fellow browncoat and fff.net memeber, I'm concidering making my next series of clips for that one song "technologic" and center it on Wash and Kaylee...'cause it totally fits them both, and the immages just won't go away! Or I'll use something by Distrubed for ether Mal or River. (I was scared when I found out how many of their songs fit two of my all-time favorite people...) Anyway...I'll start ranting if I don't go soon...one more thing though, I'm pathetic. I just spent an hour on startalk.com watching old interviews and crying when I turned up no results for Ron Glass. Oh yeah, that reminds me, Shephard, incase you didnn't know from Chapter 2, will actully play a rather large role in events as they unfold. Right now, in Chapter 3, I'm looking for an excuse to switch POV's so I can disjoint it. It's easier to write disjointed...'cause then stuff can happen without having to explane it as it does. May or may not do that though. Anyway... NOW I'd better wrap up. Really this time. I have River pics to put together.

God, I hate braces. With a burning, fiery passion. DAMN THEM ALL TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL!!!!! I'm going to die of blood loss in my mouth. Bleargh, my life! x_x SQUEEK!! Yes, fear me, for I am psychotic. Ok, now that I'm sane (more or less ;P) again, I thought I'd let everyone know that sometime in the near (maybe) future, I may be posting concept art of sorts from Pot23C (Pirates of the 23rd Century) It's mostly ships, cause I can't draw people for the life of me. A few weapons, too. I'm getting more and more ideas now, and I'm glad that my brain space is more or less infinite. And I saw V for Vendetta yesterday. Me likey. "Remember, remember, the fifth of November." Coolness. V had a very nice hat. Now, sleep.

Um, this is new and interesting. I've been in FF/S fandom for several months now, but this site has always seemed too big and decentralized, so I never joined. I still prefer LJ, but I suppose I'll be here a little bit more then. Um, yeah, that's all.

You all have seen some of my Firefly art, but in case anyone's interested, I've put some of my other work up over at Photobucket. Feel free to check it out.

It's 5 a.m. and we just got back from a fun night on the town, never mind the fact that I didn't really want to go out in the first place. Anyway, the point is I may have potentially recruited 3 people to drag to the Serenity Cubed convention in London this September. Assuming I go. I'm pretty sure I won't have the money, especially if my plan of living on a beach in Hawaii this summer pans out, but that's what credit cards are for, right? I want to, but I'm not entirely sure I want to go by myself. I'm not opposed to travelling by myself because I do that all the time, but this could possibly be mildly intimidating. We'll see though. Runs off to bed for a couple of hours of sleep.

So I'm watching "War Stories" for the umpteenth time and I get to wondering, was there an actuall Shan Yu in history? So I Google "Shan Yu" -- and nearly die laughing. At the top of the list I get Disney's Shan Yu -- villian in the Mulan movie. Think maybe Joss was poking fun? Can you think of anything more un-Disney than FF?

So, my wife and I go to the local coffee place for desserts after supper. OK, so we walk in and someone new comes to help us, tells us he's new (it actually was his first hour), etc. We, of course, make the joke about ordering something that he doesn't know how to make. We both order a peice of cheese-cake. Since we wanted it to go, he had to find the take-out containers. He asked the owners mother (who was helping him) where they were, but she didn't know. I pointed out the place where they were kept and then made the joke, "How can you tell I'm here often?" After that, we ordered a double espresso each. There was no beans in the machine and he needed to grind some. I told him that I couldn't help him with that (I didn't know where the beans were kept, what kind, etc), so he asked the owner. She said that another customer (can't remember the name) knew, and as she was saying that a hand came from behind holding a bag of espresso beans. I then proceeded to tell him basically, how to make espresso. No, you can't use that side of the machine, the tubes are plugged. Yes, you can use that other one. etc. All in all, a somewhat interesting experience. Probably for the both of us and anyone else that happened to be there as well. Just thought I'd share

Yes, fellow BCs, I was not all that happy with the sound quality of the first batch of MP3 FF ringtones I told y'all about awhile back... Didn't like going back & forth in my crappy Alliance [XP pro] sound WAV editor from MP3 format... Wasn't all that thrilled with the sound quality of the original FF theme MP# I used, either. So whilst perusing SoCalBrowncoats Yahoo group, I found not only a better MP3 version, but also an MP3 of the Serenity-Landing theme from the BDM -- love that cello intro! Plus they had the Fruity-Oaty-Bar MP3 as well... Well, before you could say "Arrrrgh, matey" I had those shiny pretties downloaded into my hold for later messin'... So now you can get ye way better sound quality MP3 of not just the originals I did a month or so back, but also the Serenity Theme from the BDM, the AintWeJust clip from "Safe" and 2 versions of the Fruity-Oaty-Bar song. So's ye can e-mail me as usual likes before at MAGhaffar@wayoftheseekers.com, or you can go to SoCalBrowncoats Yahoo group at:

I can't believe I've been on this site for almost three hours. I was going to go to bed at three, but then I decided to log on here for just a few minutes to check out any updated news. I found a thread talking about Slither so I gave my two cents. I saw the movie yesterday with my friend, and we both loved it. Nathan was great, and I swear there were a few FF referances in the movie. Maybe it was just my imagination running wild, but I could have sworn they were there. (Browncoat/ Kaylee's name/ A little Mal in Nathan's Character) hehe After the Slither thread I found a thread with all these quizes on which FF character you are most like. There were four different quizes and I had to take all four of them. Funny enough in two of them I was Mal and the other two I was River. What a combo huh? That's either really cool or really scary. Of course inbetween all this I was looking up random Chinese tranlations. Now I can put FF/ Serenity on my list of reasons why I never sleep at night. At least this reason is a worth wild one! Before I saw Slither the other day I went to this adult Easter Egg Hunt with my mom and aunt. I never hang out with my family anymore, and my mom really wanted me to go with her to this thing. So I blew a perfectly good Saturday and made the trip with them. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, and something wonderful happened. The way it works is you get a list of a bunch of businesses on them. You go from business to business collecting eggs. In each egg could be a prize, candy, or both. I went to a video store and collected an egg there. Later I open it up, and it says I've won a free movie from the video store. I go there and what's one of the movies I can choose....SERENITY!!!! I've been so broke the last few months I couldn't afford the movie yet. Now because of this Easter thing I won the movie. I'm staring at it right now. I was so excited. What Browncoat luck huh? :D The weird thing was there was only five movies I could pick, and who would have thought Serenity would have been one of them. Good times! Long live Firefly! Night all....and remember...We aim to misbehave!

i was looking around in the chat today when sudenly this "Guest" character starts talking when it looks like there's three of them! I don't know who they are, when I make a conversation with them. It was all sorts of creepy and disturbing... perhaps ten kinds! Then one asks me about my age and I'm thinking (Reavers) or something along the lines of that if you catch my drift. Feaky people. Who are they anyway?

I read about this convention (details www.thehubproductions.com) and I was just wondering if there'll be any more Firefly, Buffy or Angel conventions in Australia this year, say, around Melbourne? I'm so cut I won't make it to this one!

I honestly don't know because I've edited and over edited it to the point where I just can't tell anymore. Now, on to the five other little drabbles I have to write... ;o)

Well, I just posted the first half of Chapter one of Pot23C, and people seem to like it. I hope to finish Chapter 1 later this week (yeah, right) and get started on Chapter 2 the week after. I'm not making any promises though. In the meantime, expect less in the poster department for the next month or so. I might post some concept art of sorts if I can find all of it. And if I do post concept art, try not to laugh too hard. On a happier note, a tree fell over in my yard and I finally got an excuse to play with a chipper! ~WG out

getting a bit crazy with makin' the River pictures. The River monolouge is going well, though it now sounds nothing like it's origional context I'm playing it so differently. I had this freaky nightmare last night about Joss Whedon coming to see it and flipping out after and like...yelling at me through clenched teeth about screwing up his diolouge and his character like that... 'course...my subconcious couldn't leave Joss mad at me, so my dream turned into someone coming up and asking where that monolouge came from and me tellin' 'em and loaning them a Firefly disk...it was great. Meantime, Chapter 3 is doin' a pretty good job of writing itself...'cept it's got a whole hangup about this one word that's gonna be real important later on...*sigh* Gorram
sickness. I just HAD to have Jayne know what it's called
Anyway...so that works pretty well. Anyway... OH YEAH! What I really wanted to post about this... I've got a brown coat! Sadly, it's not a duster...but it's brown and it's soft and it's brown and it's shiney and it's brown and it's velvetly and it's brown and it buttons all the way down and it's brown and it's REALLY AWESOME and did I mention that it's brown? hehe. so happy.

Only one more episode to go. I'm holding off on this one big time. There is still some mystery... My brother and I have been speculating: 'Serenity' wrapped too many things up. Things that didn't need to be wrapped up. And left other things unwound and dangling out the tenth story window. Blue Sun?! Hello?! WASH DIES?!?!?!? :bash: Anywho, I think that the movie kind of ruined any chance of more episodes. They would either have to be set between the seires and the movie, or be extremely different from the earlier ones; i.e., we know why River's crazy. "Also, I can kill you with my brain."

Last weekend, a contingent of Browncoats descended on the North Carolina Renaissance Festival, where my band was performing, and afterwards a Browncoat named Christie was kind enough to give us a ride to Carraba's, where we met up with yet a few more Flans for some great food and even better conversation. I realized while there that part of what I love about meeting Browncoats is not simply that they love Firefly. They're into all kinds of interesting stuff--they're smart, engaging conversationalists. I'm terrible with names, but Christie, CallMeSerenity, JadeHand, and Jennifer (the custodian of the Sacred Saint Christopher Medallion of Jayne, good for a +2 Charisma bonus with Browncoats), and all the rest of who were there, it was great meeting you, and I'm really looking forward to coming back! Even though there was an official contingent of Browncoats visiting the faire, they were by no means the only flans present. I sold some copies of On the Drift simply by walking up to merchants and asking if they'd ever heard of Firefly. Every time we played "The Hero of Canton," people stopped and smiled. Many of them had never heard of the Bedlam Bards or On the Drift. Many of the cast members came up to us to thank us for making the album, and I was surprised by how many times people mentioned that they have it along with the show and movie soundtracks as the only CDs in their changers, or the only tracks on their IPODs. I feel so honored by that. One of the cast members approached me at the end of the day about swapping a pewter pin that said "SHINEY!" for a copy of the CD. I happily agreed. All in all, it was a great time.

After a 13+ hr work day, a brief time for a cold drink and a quick bite, I take some time to relax. And what does that mean? I fire up the DVD, and watch the intro of...yes, SERENITY. As I watch the all too familar sequence of events unfold, I'm once again amazed. This REALLY did happen. We really did get our Big Damn Movie, and it's beautiful. I can't help but be in awe of it all. Everything of the day fades away, the hard work, the talk on the radio about the daily woes of the world, the nation. As I sit in comfort and watch this beautiful cast come alive once more... i just smile. I simply can't help myself. Thanks to the entire cast/ crew of SERENITY.

Finally the script has a beginning middle and ending - with suffiecient 'fuel' to write more episodes. I'm done at last! This weekend myself and the other two writers will get together and refine the details and inject some 'style' into the piece as a whole. There's still more work, but this is the fun part. This is the part where we all test out the lines of dialogue and see what works and what doesn't. Where there should be more or less drama/comedy/action and so forth, and work on a rhythm and pacing. If you have the chance to write a script I seriously recommend it. It can be a great deal of fun. I'm a little surprised how much I enjoyed it. Pheeew - will keep adding updates as things develop.

Ahem. Person I was talking to in hallway: Why are you late? Me: My morning began rather questionably. Person I was talking to in hallway: *raises eyebrows* Me: Well...first I lost my notebook. Then I almost lost my Romeo and Juliet essay. Then I had to wear ballet slippers to school because my other shoes killed my feet. Person I was talking to in hallway: *raises eyebrows again* Me: Okay, you want to really know why I was late? I did lose my notebook and all that other stuff...but I probably wouldn't have lost my essay and my notebook if I hadn't stayed up later than I was supposed to to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Person I was talking to in hallway: *laughs* By the way, Simon and Ainslee's Game part 4 made me cry. Not good.

Been re-watching my dvds lately. Anyone noticed a white slimline phone hanging on the wall of shuttle 2 in War Stories? Or am I crazy? Also, thanks to all you shiny browncoats for visiting my new website and giving feedback! It's much appreciated. Who knew I knew somebody in Chile?! Speaking of the site, the dancing girl pin on the homepage had a tragic accident.:crap: I came home from getting an epidural in my neck, only to find that the beast(pics on about us page) had gotten her off the coffee table while I was gone. She suffered a cranial elongation(not sure she can recover) and an amputated arm! Still haven't found that arm. Gorram beast!!! Tried to suck up with kisses, should I forgive him?

My Wild Party CD keeps spontaneously stopping in the middle of songs. Luckily not during "A Wild, Wild Party", because I would dieeeeeee. Hmm. The crew of Serenity should have a Wild, Wild Party. *evil laugh* :finger: I just wanted an excuse to use that emoticon. Hehe.

Grrr... Why don't things ever goes smoothly? ;p Ordered some stuff online for my little lunchbox project about a month ago. Was waiting and waiting to see what was going on and finally got a message on my machine from them. Turns out one of the items is no longer available (and it's just something I wanted to play around with anyways.) Got a replacement item set up, so I oughta be getting everything sometime next week. But gorramn it... I hate phones. Got sorta a obsessive-compulsive thing about 'em. (Not the only thing I freak on, either :) I have to call someone I don't know, I usually have to warm up for like an hour. Totally irrational, but I just hate doing it. But anyways, should be all shiny next week. Once I get that done I can finally move on to some other projects I wanna work on. (OCD again... have to do things one at a time :) 'Course one of the ideas I have is some more lunchboxes lol... Also wishing I had an HD-DVD player so I could pick up Serenity again and not feel silly about ;p So I guess I'll just try and be patient for the Firefly Visual Companion to come out. Okay, maximum verbosity off. Stay shiny all you pretty, pretty people ;p
Wednesday, 12 April 2006 21:31:52
So, I have the Visual Companion book... This has probably been spoken of, but shouldn't it be called the Visual Inara?

Whew! Got my taxes done and done. So relieved. And I've missed this place terribly. It'll be nice to meet and greet and see old friends too. It seriously is difficult to stay away from here (home!) any amount of time at all. RL is boring, all else is Firefly consumed. So sorry all new recruits I've been missing and I'll get back in my storeroom tonight and attempt to catch up. Ahhh... * puts feet up and has a cup of coffee* It's good to be home! ETA: I have new staff in my storeroom folks.. I now have Rese being my secretary and office assistant. Boy, am I grateful.. she's a wonder! If you can't find me for your browncoat, find her and she'll find me.
Thursday, 13 April 2006 02:03:41
I have been around for some time and I did not get my greeting from FollowMal. What does a girl have to do to get a virtual Browncoat? I just want to belong, man.

Work. We all have to do it. Gas prices are going up, along with smokes and booze.:finger: Being O.W.U.P is not the best thing in the world. To have a job that you like makes it ok though. I love my job and I love..... Well most of the kids I work with. Most people think that I'm Crazy Jayne. I just think it's worth it. Shiney, I'm a big damn hero. Chiefy

Well it's Easter school holidays here in Australia and I've actually got some time off. Starting tomorrow I'll be at a Sci-fi convention in Brisbane for four days, not much Firefly/Serenity content, but I'll take what I can get. All this means I'll be a bit slow putting up part 16 of Thinking things through. I am working on it though and hopefully will be finished next week. Thanks to all those who comment on my stories...I love the feedback. Happy Easter to all!

What with taxes, class projects, tests, mandatory lectures and spring parade season it is definitely that time of year. Been back to school from spring break for less than a month now and I already feel like I need a vacation. Can't wait to get done with finals, but first I have to write a paper for tomorrow. Good times.
Thursday, 13 April 2006 16:02:26
The school keyboards say "delete", not "del" on the delete key. This means my evil plans against Cordelia-I-mean-Kassi have been foiled. Unless I can convince her that "esc" stands for something. Like "escapade". Yeaaaaaaaaaah.
Thursday, 13 April 2006 16:39:29
Ok, so those that have been following my blogs have known that I am having problems just getting my education; getting things that I actually, according to the rules, have access to. Yesterday was no exception. Last I let everyone in on my "adventure", I wasted an academic year. Unfortunately, this realization had come shortly before the voluntary withdrawal deadline (for only 2 of my courses). Then, because I wanted to stay within the system, I was working with the student union to resolve these issues. The time went beyond the voluntary withdrawal deadline. But the student union told me not to worry about that. This resulted in getting a meeting with the dean. Unfortunately, the student union rep I was working with flaked out. I waited a fair while before contacting the dean directly. I got a meeting with him yesterday (rather than 1 1/2/2 months ago). He was less than helpful. Apparently, even though the course descriptions have little to do with what is actually taught in the class itself, is not the responsibility of the university. And this isn't false advertising either. How advertising in a university publication something, yet not actually providing that something is not false advertising, is logic that I'm not aware of (actually I am, it's called delusion). Apparently, the dean can use portions of the universities calender as rigid (his "inability" to give my a letter stating that I can withdraw without academic penalty). But, when I use the calender to make my point, it isn't rigid. And in fact, the process outlined in the calender that I was using was (as he put it) "a dead end" ie the process effectively doesn't exist. Again, the university bears no responsibility for this either. Apparently, getting... bad advice from the student union (apparently I should have worried about the voluntary withdrawal thing) is not his, nor the universities responsibility, nor the student unions fault. Nor will they do anything to help me in that regard. Apparently, when a professor intimidates students (myself and others, as only a small example of what this professor has done), it is ok because the professor and I had a "personality conflict." How my relationship effects the relationship between the other students and this professor, I have no idea. For that matter, how it is ok, no matter what, for a professor to intimidate students is beyond me. (EDIT: According to the dean, instead of trying to resolve the issue as if the professor and I were adults, I should have just dropped the course.) And I could go on. Basically, this university has failed me in every single way possible and it will take zero responsibility for its actions (or lack thereof). And now I'm left with not only being the victim, but bearing the full brunt of the punishment. So, now my only recourse (at this university) is to go through an appeals process. If that fails, then that's the end of the road. The only other option that I have is to appeal to my home University to attempt to get something done there. If this all fails, then my academic career is quite over. I am now trying to do both these things in parallel as I have zero confidence in this university. Hopefully, I'll have better luck when talking to my home University.

I recently posted a Mal wallpaper with the lyrics to this song on it. The long version by The Who. Since I put it in there, I haven't been able to get it out of my head. I've always loved this song and it just seemed to fit Mal. The more I think about it the more it seems to fit. There doesn't seem to be a single line that isn't right. I've been listening to it almost constantly to feed my Malcaholism. I really really want to make a Mal music video to it. The problem is that I don't have any video editing software. It is quite irritating. I might take a page from LadyKnight's book and do a collage version. There is so much more there then a singe wp. Anyway...yeah...I guess I'm done. Gotta go listen to some music. (sing to self) No one knows what it's like, to be the bad man, to be the sad man...

Okay, so its been a really, really, really long time since I have been on this website, let alone wrote a blog. What brought me back, you ask? Well I'll tell you. I watch "Slither" the other weekend. I'm not ashamed to admit that the sole reason I went to see it was because of Fillion. Honestly, that man...My last birthday I held my breath and prayed fervently that he would become the father of at least one of my future children. Then I blew the candles out. I know that many of you just rolled your eyes, but I haven't gone stalkerish or anything. Its not like you'll find me riding around in his car claiming to be his wife (remember when that happened to David Letterman?). Anyway, on with the story. So I went to see "Slither" and I loved it, because I am the type of girl that likes movies to be grotesque and over-the-top. Particularly if its Troma-esque. After watching the movie, I got a jones to see more Fillion so I started watching Firefly all over again. I was watching the pilot and I got all sad about Wash and his dinosaurs when I started to think about Serenity (the movie not the ship). This brings me to my point, and not a moment too soon. Has anyone out there heard anything about an upcoming Serentiy sequel? I know its early, but I kind of miss having something to look forward to. And we browncoats are known for our unfailing patience. BTW-if this topic has already been covered-sorry-I told you I've been out of it for a while. --Chosen1

Okay so I'm writting Hidden Truths, and I want to continue writing fanfic, it's truely addictive. But my brain is fighting, I so badly want to have a happy ending but I just keep hearing this wicked little voice saying "is that how joss would do it?" I mean... it never ends happy for couples in joss's world. Okay that was my tangent, my hubby doesn't care so I had to say it here.

Well, today was BSD at my university and that can only mean one thing: classes are done for the winter semester. And for the curious, BSD stands for Bermuda Shorts Day; tradition is you dress in beach wear, preferably Bermuda shorts, and get rip-roaringly drunk at the beer gardens (Now 20% bigger this year!). I suppose the two phrases "Bermuda Shorts" and "winter semester" really don't go together, but that's what happens in Canadian universities. I'm just glad classes are over; now I can get some sleep. This was the first semester that I worked and went to school so I'm a little sleepy, to say the least. Only problem is, I have three final exams this time around. I miss that one semester of mine when I didn't have any. That semester rocked. So while classes are done, the cramming begins. I'm writing this when I should be finishing off my philosophy paper, but I got to allow myself some procrastination; it's the right of any student. But after I'm done BSing my way through my final exam/essays, my summer is free for me to do nothing. Well, not really nothing. I'll still go to work, but there won't be the pressure of having to get school work done. Maybe once my exams are done, I'll have a Firefly marathon. Yeah, I like the sound of that...

So for the last eight days I've been in London seeing the ancient ruins, the cool sites, and honestly, looking for Firefly Merch. Also I was planning to see the Sci-Fi-refly convention which starts on the 28th, but I came and went too early! Seriously, so bummed out. However I heard some interesting talk about Nathan Fillion playing some role in the Halo movie from my friends, now if anyone can find a shred of Evidence on this matter I will say I'm definetly seeing the Halo movie. Brits love Firefly.

Just wanted to say thank you to FollowMal for making me official! It fits perfectly and that's hard to do because I am only slightly taller then a certain bounty hunters fire-obsessed midget. Finally got to seein' Slither. I dug it. It was massivly gory (gorey? How do you spell that?) but Nathans reactions were spot on. Our other Firefly veteran, who's name escapes me now, was also very funny. I'll buy it, then again, I'll buy whatever I can with Nathan in it. A fella at work has been borrwing my DVD box set one disc at a time, and had disc two for almost two weeks. I asked him on Tuesday if he had discs or excuses. He had neither. He wanted to keep it another day to watch them again. So cool! When he liked disc one, I told him it gets better from here. He said by Shindig he was hooked. OMR knocked him into our little moon filled with obsession and love. When he returned disc two on Wednesday, he asked for three right away. I was so excited he liked it. It's a good thing I'm not of a religion that wishes to convert people. I might be dangerous. Enough babble. I'm off. :0)
Friday, 14 April 2006 07:47:27
So I finally got around to finishing my first ever fanfic. I do mean very first as I have never been moved enough to write a story based on any other fictional characters. Okay, I wrote the story in a manner I remember from my childhood. I guess it turned out similar to a script or play in terms of format. When I copied it though it didn't quite turn out the way it looked on my wordpad. Live and learn I guess. The story is mostly driven by dialogue. Not a lot of description. Most of the things I spent time describing were people or places we are not familiar with. That being said this thing consumed much more time and ended up being a lot longer than I expected. Nearly twenty-seven pages on Word at just over 14,000 words. I would really like some feedback as it pertains to our BDH with regards to their dialogue and how they reacted to the situations I placed them in. If I'm dead on I'd like to know, if not then I need to fix some things before I embark on any other stories. I would also like to hear some of your thoughts on the character I introduced as he will be appearing in at least one other story I have kicking around in my head. One last thing I want to say is that writing this was in no way easy. I have always regarded myself as creative but I never imagined the difficulty involved in taking an idea and fully realizing it on paper...er I mean computer. That being said I have nothing but respect for all of you who can rip off fanfics at such a rapid pace. Mine took me nearly a month! I cannot imagine the strain of writing a full blown novel.

Wow... Firefly is at #13 on Amazon sales... Can you believe a show that only ran 3 months in 2002 is at #13 of all sales in DVDs? Or maybe that's just box sets. But still. THAT is the power of Browncoat Bucks in action... and New-found Fans-yet-to-become Browncoats... [What galls me is Fox is getting that cashy money. Does that seem right to you? Anybody know if Joss & the actors still get a piece of that money as residuals?] This is why it's really just a matter of time before we get more Firefly / Serenity, folks. Went to see a movie today and [gag] they're coming out with a Garfield 2 movie. If they cn make another dog of a cartoon cat movie, then we've got it made. Just gotta be patient and keep flyin'...

I found a Peacemaker gun this afternoon in amongst loads of nunchucks and samuri swords. I always go to ogle the displayed items but today they had the peacemaker in pride of place. I really wanted to enthuse about it to everyone I met but no-one there appreciated it. I thought maybe some of you might... So there you have it! My find of the day!
Friday, 14 April 2006 19:04:49
Okay so its my second entry in as many days, but I'm at work and I'm bored...Wow, I hope my boss isn't a fan. Not that he could figure out its me here complaining. "Chosen1" doesn't exactly give anything away. Other than the fact that I'm a Kung Pow fan. And I've been Chosen (obviously). I am a girl, but I admitted as much in my last blog and there are many female browncoats. Anyway, enough paranoia. My little brother just told me the most amazing thing. Joss Whedon is doing the new Wonder Woman movie. Now, I'm a big fan of Joss despite his tendency to kill off a few of my most beloved characters. Still, I'd go see just about anything he does just because he does it so well. On a separate note, I am also a wonderwoman fan. I've got the comics, I've got the coffee mug, and I have a picture of me on my third birthday wearing wonderwoman underoos. Needlesstosay, I'd go see any Wonderwoman movie regardless of who wrote or directed it. So, upon hearing two of my favorite things are being put together in the greatest combination to be introduced to the world since some guy decided to put peanut butter on his jelly sandwich, I burst out into my happy dance. You can't see me, but I am doing a rather tamed-down version of the happy dance right now in my chair. Life is good. -Chosen1 aka Taryn (that's right I said it- to hell with office place anonyminity)

Nothing has gotten me this riled up for a while. I'm sitting here ready for battle. Finally some action. On June 23 we are having what is tentatively called Serenity Day. Everyone will go out and purchase the BDM, and the event will be supported by a letter warfare (that's right, this is war) and media attention. I can only sum it up this way. ON JUNE 23, WE AIM TO MISBEHAVE.

I seriously want to go to this years Flanvention, but I have no idea how to get tickets for this thing. Does anyone have any information on this matter? I would deeply appreciate it if someone could tell me.

I'm angsty. And all becasue of a stupid holiday that is not my own. We were slated to have Easter dinner with our not blood, but much closer to us,family. They live locally. Alas, her eighty odd year old father is having a malignant tumor removed from his brain on Tuesday. Needless to say, she needs to be in another state. I understand, I am not upset at her cancelling. Just concerned. What kills me is that she was going to drive to see her family for Easter, drive back here to have Easter with us Sunday night and then drive back to her family Monday. Damn. That really gives me warm fuzzies. We had to initally reject a last minuite offer from my husbands father to attend dinner with them. This was fine with me as there is alot of bad and awkward blood there. I am not totally comfy and it's an hour and half or so away. However, with us free, there was no reason NOT to go see my father-in-law and his wacky wife. This left me with kind of a moral dilemma. I don't necessarily want to spend my evening there. But it seemed like the right thing to do. It would make these people happy, seeing their granson. Just feels right to go. Got no good reason not to. But there is that part of me that does not want to let them win. One really dark part that wants to deny them what they want. Just cause. Revenge for a few years of crap talk and hurt feelings. I don't want that side of me to win, so I guess I'm not a Reaver, I'm a human girl. And I have no idea... Wrapping up, since it's Easter and it's hot here, I'm dressing my kid up in his Wash-esque Hawiian shirt. Something I would like to see rise again. I don't mean that dirty, children. Thanks for letting me rant, sorry for the legnth and enjoy Easter or Passover, if that's your thing.
Saturday, 15 April 2006 04:44:00
Yup, I went to Target today looking for holiday gifts and found Firefly in the DVD section, a whole section of them, okay it was one space but the space was piled four deep!, also found Serenity however there were fewer copies of the BDM.

Hello sweet (Mostly), innoccent (Never), Universe! How art thou? Anyway, I decided to tell you about my series, Traveller's Tales. The first chapter was about River's dreams, and how she anticipated the character of Jack. To the guy who was wondering, Zoe is Hoban's mother. How could you not see that? About the character of Jack, well, he's a mixed bag. You'll have to see how the series develops to know more about him, but I didn't intentionally want to make him a shifty character, but he seem to turn out like one. The second chapter was just about establishing the crew relationships. I wanted to show how they interacted on a daily level, but my priority was get straight to how they met Jack. Which, in fact, they won't do until chapter four. The third character was about the Tam's and Kaylee. Originally, I just wanted to get on with the plot, but I decided to give Simon and Kaylee a hard time from River because I wanted to show that she was quite upset with them. She was also bored (Memo: Don't make her angry). I wanted their relationship to affect the crew, and the way they percieve the two. I wanted them to understand it was more than just a fling. Jayne, being thick as a rock, did not. Next chapter, we'll meet Jack. What happens from then on, I don't know. **UPDATE** Chapter four up! Next chapter, we'll..well, You'll just have to find out! If you're going to leave feedback, give it a rating, too. Or something similar to that. **UPDATE** Chapter five up! Someone mentioned the Lord or The Rings secret diaries, which were hilarious. I did my own version for Mr. Cobb, during the Big Damn Movie. 'Tis fun. It's up now. Enjoy. Also, Nine Hells Dude? Mal lets a seventeen year-old mind-reading psychopath fly his ship. She's also a bit, you know, loopy. Sometimes she says stuff no one understands. To further the point, Mal is also a bit dense. Of course he let him on.

(Yup, I'm procrastinating. Told ya I would.) I don't know why, but I've got it in my head that I should take some Spring/Summer courses, if this semester wasn't hard enough. The advantage of taking some Spring/Summer stuff is that I wouldn't have to take so many courses during the regular year. Right now, I'm just trying to see what's available and what will fit with my degree. I'm sort of limited at this point in my program, plus the computer program that is supposed to show me what I need to take is really picky so stuff I've already taken isn't counting towards what I need (stupid Degree Navigator :bash:). But one thing I could take, and which really interests me, is the Creative Writing course the university offers. I've taken Creative Writing classes before back in high school and I really like writing. I also like the thought of earning credit for doing something I do when I should be studying anyway  The only thing putting me off about taking it is the department's one requirement: A 20 page portfolio. :crap: The number of pages I have right now: 0. Well, maybe 6 if I count the two Firefly fics I've written but I don't know if the professor/deciding person would consider it. But I could be wrong; the description says the portfolio is just for me to demonstrate my abilities to them. I suppose the content doesn't really matter. But this is a full year course, a two hour class at 7:00 at night no less. I don't know...

Thought it was time I added something here. Fic is in the pipe line, just not ready to set it off into the world yet. I adore Firefly. I am a reformed Joss Whedon fan, loved Buffy for years then decided I should grow up (at 25) thus passed the wilderness years. Till I fell in love with Firefly ... I guess you can't really kick the habit! I love my captain

Well, it seems my brain actually started working sometime on Wednesday and I realized that this weekend was Easter. Looks like I won't be getting the rest of Chapter 1 of Pot23C finished until sometime next week. Sorry about that. I really am a procrastinator, so I'm very sorry if you were expecting frequent updates from me. I'm a busy (and alright, lazy) person. And, I finally fixed that annoying BF: 1942 bug. w00t! ~WG out

Well I finally got a day off and a break from Air Conditioning start ups.. This last week has been a real B***ch with a capitol B.. I did manage to finish my pinup for the TBP and a couple of other drawings....But after working almost 14 hours a day in and on rooftops I don't wanna do much but crash out when I get home... On the plus side I lost almost 15 lbs this week and on the down side I got me the first sunburn of the season... Still haven't heard a peep out of either IDW or Sulaco studios on my three covers of Angel so I'm just gonna post here a while...

I've been harbouring these ideas for a long time. For this chapter, I really did my homework.
In this episode, we find out that Jack has Schizophrenia. I did some research on it, found out symptoms, and included these in Simon's speech to the crew. I decided I wanted an enemy I could be be frightened of, and I decided that a man of incredible strength and intelligence having almost no control over his actions would be something really frightning.
Schizophrenia is a real disease, and real people have to fight symptoms similar to those described every day of their life. If you would like to find out more about schizophrenia, go to

Here it is Easter Sunday I just felt like adding a little blog here. I don't know why today of all days I wanted to put this down in a post I can't answer that. My Dad. One of the toughest men I knew. When I say tough I don't mean he would get in a bar room tussel and be the last man standing. I mean here is a family man, went to the same job for 40 years and did it very well. Came home in the afternoon, kissed his wife and did repairs on the house. There was always something broken. Did he get angry at times? Yes, but he never hurt any of his kids or mom. two years after he died I saw a hardhat on a self in the laundry room. I asked my mother about it. she said "It was your fathers" and a month after he retired she wanted to throw it out. He stopped her by asking her not to. One of the few times I'd known of any sentimental emotion of my dad. That hat still sits on that self. Happy Easter Dad:smile:

Yesterday at the gym I was on the eliptical machine when Ron Glass jumped on the treadmill right in front of me. I didn't say anything because that would have been the height of rudeness to interrupt the man in the middle of his workout, but it was pretty cool. Especially since I never see any celebrities in this town. I've seen two people I recognized since I moved here in September, but Ron Glass was the first real actor. And a Browncoat to boot. Hell yeah. His hair is shorter now and I don't think he had any facial hair, but he's in really good shape for a man his age.

Okay, you all must understand that I'm sort of an in the closet FF fan. Not to say I'm not a proud brown coat and have even given the BDM on DVD as gifts, not to mention the numberous times I've told people to get into the 'verse. But my husband, although has seen all the episodes and BDM w/ me, loves them and wished there were more, thinks I am more than a little rediculous for spending hours a day reading fan fic and hoping for news that each and every week a new episode of firefly will come on t.v. for me to add to my shrine of FF love. So I couldn't exactly say "Hi honey, I've started having Firefly dream" So here goes. I had a firefly dream last night. Now I don't mean to sound crazy, but I've always suffered from night terrors and sleep walking so having a good dream is rare, let alone a firefly dream. (I was so excited) So here is my dream. I was reading this really cool bit of fan fic that included like screen caps of what was going on and it was really detailed anynow it was a mix of Shindig, Objects in Space and Serenity the pilot. but also of this fanfic someone wrote where in simon is mentally fixing all of his mistakes with Kaylee. (Now I was dreaming so it won't all make sense okay.) There is the Lord whoever guy from Shindig except he's evil now and he's snuck onto the ship inorder to capture Mal. Well Kaylee's in the cargo bay in something like the outfit that sandra bullock wears in Miss Congeniality as she's doing the talent competition but her hair is just this huge massive pile of curls. Anyhow she hears some one coming and they shoot her in the belly except than all the sudden she says "wait, I can just fix this" and she jumps behind this purple glittery mini old time "horseless carriage" and so when the evil guy walks in he doesn't see her and goes go looking for members of the crew. Well the engine of the mini purple thing suddenly grows lips and tells kaylee to warn the others (because engines talk to her maybe?) So she grabs her shoes and slides out the window because suddenly the ships not the ship it's a red cottage they're staying in, it looks really nice and since the window she's jumping out of is on the second floor she's on a balcony and she jumps into the room river and simon are staying in and tells him to act like she (kaylee) is a whore and make out with her on the bed so that the guy doesn't catch him and turn him in to the alliance meanwhile river wraps herself in blankets and lays at the foot of simons bed so it looks like they've just kicked off the bedding while getting it on and it's all wadded into a pile on the bed. So the big scary evil lord guy comes in and Kaylee's like covering Simon's body with hers and yells at the man to give her some space to make some coin with. The guy says he wants to have a go next and she said "Well this guy's rented me out for the whole night so let me give you my card. She reaches into her bag and gives him the card of the women who made her outfit for her and the guy leaves. My son woke up at that point so I don't know how it ended. But there it is, I feel better having gotten it out since it's been going through my mind all day. Anyone want to try to be my dream interpreter here or should I just chaulk it up to thinking about how to finish "hidden truths" before going to bed. I wonder if I could work that into my ending? although how do I explain the outfit. -sillylittleduck

i had this whole big rant written about this person i know who was being a complete troll about serenity and the browncoats, saying there wasn't that many of us and we weren't going to achieve anything real and he was talking all the way through serenity and offering us all pirate copies of the BDM and just basically being a complete ass...ooh, i'm all fired up now. right, my friend (charis, otherwise known as bob) and i went to our other friend's *heather) house and i brought my firefly and serenity DVDs 'cause that's the kind of gal i am. unknown to me, two others were coming (rhino and the troll). i'd bulldozed them all into watching serenity and they were all being okay about it (there was alcohol involved  it's the only way. i mean, heather and bob actually named themselves the anti-sci-fi brigade, but back to the rant). except the troll. not only did he spend the whole night making fun of me and being really sexist and rough with me (he's a six foot six walking ball of muscle-bound testosterone. i'm a skinny little five foot tall teenage girl. even rhino told him to back off, but did he? nooooooooo, 'cause he's mister i'm-so-cool-and-strong-with-my-tae-kwon-do-that's-so-much-more-important-than-passing-higher-english) but he talked all the way through the small part of serenity that we managed to watch. we gave up when we realised there would be no way to hear what was going on over little gems such as this pair: "oh, this bit's really cool. it's the best bit in the whole film. it's really funny. listen. you missed it. go and put it back so they can see it again." they missed it anyway. "i'm playing triple x in my head. i can do it word perfect every time. it's better than this." WHAT?!? it was the part with the reavers chasing the mule out of town!! how the hell can vin fricking diesel talking in a funny accent be more exciting than a heart-pounding, palm-sweating, breath-stealing chase which may result in the horrible, bloody, violent deaths of our heroes?!? and you know what the worst part was? not only did he talk through the movie and prevent everyone else enjoying it and dismiss the browncoats as "a small bunch of weirdos" who will achieve "pretty much nothing" because we're all too busy "signalling the mothership and telling spock to beam us up", but he owns a pirate copy of serenity. a PIRATE copy. unpaid for. stolen. depleting joss's stores of much needed and deserved support as the networks don't seem to care about public outcry, only facts and figures. and do you know what he did when i made the incredulous "what the hell?" face? he offered me a copy. he said i was jealous. never mind the fact that we were trying to watch my official DVD. the paid for, legal, supporting joss one. never mind the fact that we brought our series to the big screen. never mind the fact that there are countless articles about how that was achieved. i mean, to just dismiss us like that? some of us (and i'm not including myself in this for the reason that i became a browncoat after filming started) spent an incredible amount of energy, time and money bringing serenity back. so you know what? if you ever meet someone like him, i'm begging you, for joss's sake, don't make my mistake, tell them exactly what a troll they are. remind them of our triumphs through tribulation. and maybe, just maybe, we'll shame them into crawling back under their rocks with the rest of the insects. wow, i almost had myself convinced there. i know you're thinking "wow, what a drama queen etc. etc." but i don't got this crown for nothin'!!! so just ignore me if you want, i just needed a place to vent (hey, don't judge me, i have career-defining exams in 3 weeks time!!!) b ps. a few positive points, though: 1. the anti-sci-fi brigade were BOTH telling the troll to shut up because they wanted to watch the movie 2. one of the a.s.f. brigade actually referred to serenity as the BDM (they're using the lingo! soon they'll be wearing hawaiian shirts an

I just got back from my mini-vacation to FL and when I walked into my bedroom, I saw my copy of the Australian edition of Serenity sitting on my desk! Apparently it came while I was gone. I was so excited that it didn't even matter to me that I probably bombed my biochem exam. Also, while I was gone my step-cousin was being the most annoying human being alive and I informed him that I could "kill him with my brain". Then when I was in the airport this morning, the security guys had blue gloves on and when I realized this, I giggled a lot. I'm officially a complete nerd and I love it!

...where do you bury the survivior? No, seriously I was having a discussion about the 'Verse and what should happen in the rest of our Big Damn Trilogy, when we get it. (See FollowMal, when, not if. I'm earnin' my coat!) Anyway, Jayne came up and I said I want to see his family. My husband envisioned space hicks. Outer rim rednecks, a shuttle on cinder blocks in the yard, ya know. So if Joss kills Jayne next('cause he will kill someone else)I figured they would take him to his family. My hubby thought Canton. Duh! Good thought. I just had this vision of mudders pouring a 40oz of Mudders Milk on his statue...some for me some for my homie. Anyway! Wondering if other people had thoughts. Quick edit: This blog could also be called stereotypes on parade, I could not tell you why.

In the Dark IV has just been posted, and V is quickly on its way (hopefully by this Friday). So far in this episode, I'm noticing a peculiar trend with my chapters starting with a rating of 10, and then after two or three days, they drop to a 9. I am at a loss as to the cause of this. Any suggestions?

Today I got my shiny Australian Serenity DVD. :) Yes, it has the "gorram doll" poster on it; but it's super shiny anyway. :) The whole River figure, machete and all, is slightly extruded. Really, the tin box is a collectable all by itself. Okay, so I popped in this alleged region 4 DVD; just for the heck of it. And guess what? ... It works! :) Upon closer examination, it's actually region 2 + 4, so I could play it all along. :) Way to go, Aussies! Put a extra shrimp on the barbie for me, mates! :) LOL. Nothing more gorgeous than this Serenity DVD ever came out of a box; except River, of course. :)

Well, I was at the comic shop near where I live, and I saw something with pirate ships on it. Naturally, my interest was piqued. They looked like little packs of cards, like you would expect some sort of booster pack to look like. I bought a pack, came home, opened it, and to my surprise, I find some plastic cards with pieces of ships cut out of them. It's a game, like a board game without the board. It's called Pirates of the Spanish Main, and in every litle pack, you get some ships, treasure, crew, etc, and that's all you really need to play. It's very addictive. I actually hadn't even turned on my computer until sometime around 2:00. w00t! toys! and it's cheap! around $4 per pack. (I have around 50 ships now. There goes that new sound card I wanted. ;P) ~WG out

(Off-topic: wrote my first exam today. Only two more to go. Hurray!) Okay, in my previous blog I was ruminating on whether I should take a Creative Writing class. I'm still on the fence, I'll probably to start to think about this more seriously after exams are done, but I decided to read all the stuff they have on the English Department's website, just to prepare myself. Nothing really swayed my deciding more to the "take the class side", but I did find this application I have to fill out:

I'd forgotten the therapeutic value is blogging about stuff. So, I'm having thesis angst. I have to turn in a draft tommorrow, but I haven't finished it yet. The stupid thing isn't due until May 4, but my thesis committee wants to read it. This is seriously putting a cramp in my procrastination tendencies. I do all my best work at the last minute. Yet, here they are forcing me to turn in a draft. Oh well, I guess I'll have to work on it tonight. I really am excited about graduating. Then I'm moving back to Idaho. Yeah! No more stupid, Northern Virginia traffic. I'm currently doing the whole job and apartment hunting thing. Just think-two months from today, I'll be in Boise:) Of course all of my planning will be for naught if I don't finish this stupid thesis on time. Okay, so maybe I should stop hanging out on this website and actually do it, right? Right.

Oh boy, my first blog. Been here for a few months now, and finally learning to maneuver my way around. Phew. Ok, about me. As per usual, if there's any good shows on TV, I don't fall in love with them until they are off the air. (Most of the time I find them in re-runs) I caught the Sci-Fi marathon in January for Firefly and was swooped up immediately! I bought the DVD's and the movie, then headed into the black (net) in search of fan fiction and info. Bless all of you for your contributions that enlighten late comers like me. I'm totally on the Mal/Inara love train, and would lub it if someone would show me where the next stop was. So here's my plea to all the fan fic writers, WRITE MAL AND INARA PLEASE!!!! Write them as secondary characters, honorable 1 chapter mentions, anything. If you write them, I shall read and comment. Off to hit refresh for the umpteenth time today and see what's new. This is for all the people who are thinking that Nathan Gray is a cold, heartless, evil person. Well, in all honesty, he is. Maybe not so evil as the Operative, but Shepherd Book would certainly have a lecture or seven to give him. I also feel like I need to explain the reasoning behind Gray's killing of the crew of the Russian freighter. First off, he didn't want anyone left over to tell the hunters and/or Navy who/where he was. Second, what would he do with them? If he left them living, he'd have to either keep them on his ship, which he couldn't do for risk of them escaping or some such, or drop them off somewhere, which he couldn't do because they'd go to the authorities. And, something I didn't mention but probably should have: The Russians weren't unarmed. They all had sidearms. And someone mentioned holding them hostage. How would he do that? He would have to contact someone to pay the ransom, which already puts him at risk of being detected. Second, how would he get the money? He wouldn't have a bank account (not a legal one, anyways) that they could just transfer money to, and meeting them to get the money would be too risky. Gray had perfectly legitimate reasons for killing them, you just have to think about it from his point of view. ~WG out

Well, it must be spring-time again. Birds and the bees, and leaves on the trees. Went on what I suppose could be called a first date with one of the girls from work the other day. Or I guess it's a date. I don't know, I've sorta been out of the "market" for a couple years now, kind of forgot how that's supposed to work. (And how is it that it's always when I'm specifically not looking for a relationship that the women-folk seem to come out of the woodwork? :) ... Is it morally wrong that I also used us hanging out as an excuse to spread the signal a bit? Figured it'd be a good ice-breaker, though, and it's always good to share interests early on. Still feels a bit under-handed I suppose ;p She seemed to like the first few episodes well enough, though, and we had a couple good laughs. Always hard to tell, though, if it's 'cause she liked it or it was just from her having a crush on me. (Not that I'm such a great catch or terribly 'crush-worthy', but hey... she asked me out, so I can hardly be held responsible for an over-inflated ego today :) Anyways, guess I'll see how it all plays out. There's some chemistry going on I have to admit despite my own commitment phobias  Also: posted a little digital collage of Kaylee the other day in the BSR. Had a reply from someone wondering what it all meant. I still maintain that if I could explain it eloquently, I'd have written a fanfic instead. (Not to mention that if it's terribly hard to brain-work, I didn't do that great a job of putting it together :) But I figure I could give it the old college try ;) Link to the pic is here, btw:

In all the plot twists, details, characters, descriptions, etc that have to be put into fanfics, it would be not only time consuming, but also kind of, not flowy-like. I put together some descriptions of the tech in Pot23C that I couldn't put in the fic itself. On Lasers: Lasers are still in their infancy. They are big, bulky, energy guzzling, and expensive machines. Laser pistols and rifles are still only a dream. Ships, on the other hand, can mount a few laser weapons. The size and energy usage would probably make the laser(s) the primary weapon, or a weapon that was only used in extreme situations. Lasers are definitely powerful, able to burn through armor and hull panels extremely quickly. As such, they are usually restricted to military ships only, which have the budget, facilities, and ships large enough and properly equipped to use and maintain laser weapons. Because they are so difficult to use, only one ship has a laser weapon as a standard feature: The Claymore Heavy Assualt cruiser. Turrets: The turrets mounted on ships are similar to what you would expect to see on a modern day battleship. They're big, and they shoot big shells, sometimes explosive. Turrets are standard on almost every ship ever made. Fuel cells: A new type of gas was discovered frozen in the rings of Saturn. This gas can be refined into a very explosive, powerful, and efficient fuel. It is stored in fuel cells that provide enough fuel for a specific ship type for a certain amount of time. Comm system: Basically just an intercom system that is used to communicate throughout a ship or between ships. Boarding seals: These are big collapsible hallways, that extend from one ship, attach onto the hull of another, seal in place, then pressurize to accomadate humans. Oxygen is pumped through a vent system into the seal. From inside, people can cut through the hull of a ship to board it. Used as docking when attached to boarding ramp/doors/hatch/etc.Also used occasionally used for repairs. Broadside missiles: Imagine a 17th century sailing ship, with its rows of cannons along the side. It's like that, but with missiles instead of cannons. Lightning guns: High powered rifles that fire bolts of electricity. Usually used by law enforcements as ranged stunguns. Can be set to deliver lethal bolts though. Bolts fired can arc between several close proximity targets. Illegal outside of government use. Grapplers: A little gun that fires a strong magnet attached to a length of cable. The magnet attaches to a metal object, like a ship, and the cable is used to reel the object toward you. Or you toward the object. Thrusters: A different way of saying jetpack. Not powerful enough to lift humans with gravity, so used as propulsion for spacesuits. That's all for now, but there will probably be more coming. If there's anything you want me to clarify on, just ask. ~WG out

I've finally gathered together all my scraps of paper onto which I've scribbled words, phrases and scenes i've always wanted to include in a firefly fanfic. I've never written fanfic before but I'm fairly sure it's time I gave it a go considering all the shiny fics I've been reading recently. So I started writing and I've managed to hash out an entire chapter I'm not too unhappy with. I won't post until I know where the plot is going and the whole piece starts to flow but, for today at least, I feel like I've made a real start. For those interested, it so far has drinking, insults, slapping, crying and lots and lots of tea drinking. It's now 1am here so I'm definitely off to bed now. See you all tomorrow!

I got stupid and forgot to include character descriptions in the fic! Aggh! Me = stupid Anyway, here are the main characters that aren't already described. Austin King: Big dood. He's around six foot ten, weighs around two-thirty, most of it muscle. He uses a big, big sword. Like Runding big. (Go read Eaters of the Dead/13the Warrior) Uses a .44 mag when he can't use his sword. Roxanne Davis: Around six one, weighs somewher around one fifty. A real tomboy. She fights harder than most of the men under Gray's command. She's somewhat famous for her use of a spiked chain. Also uses an automatic carbine. Ely Macyntire: Kinda squirrely. Small, only five seven, one hundred twenty pounds. Uses two katars (pucnhing daggers) and a Colt .45 automatic. Computer genius too. Talented gymnast. Jack Hofmann: A great pilot. Maybe a half step above Wash. About five eleven or six foot, hundred forty pounds. Doesn't fight that much, but when he does he uses a longsword and semiautomatic rifle with a scope. Tom Lee: Good with machines. Kinda stupid. Five ten and one-sixty pounds. Almost never fights, but when he has to, he uses a hammer and assault rifle. There are two more main characters that haven't been introduced yet. Naturally, I won't tell you who they are. Any guesses? ~WG out

You could easily classify my husband and I as a dork couple. He was in the chess club, I was a tuba player (tuba chicks rock)in the marching band and to make it worse we weren't even cool dorks, ya know the kid who's so dorky all the other dorks wish they were him. Anyhow, my husband and I got back from buying a new 360 game, said hubby took our one year old son down stairs and I volunteered to take out the recycling. When I come down stairs to join my two men, I find my husband sitting on the couch, controller in hand and my son sitting on his lap, staring at the screen and hitting buttons. (driving my hubby nuts) Well I took a picture, because it was so darn cute and than it occured to me. Our son has no hope. He will be a dork. There is no way out of it for him. What do you get when you mix two different kinds of dorks? You get a super hyprid dork! He'll be a piccalo player in the marching band (because you don't get dorkier than a male piccalo player, heck even girl ones tend to be less than cool) and he'll be playing dungeons and dragons wearing an elf costume in some other dorks basement argueing about who's magical mysical bow and arrow would cause more damage to a balrog. What do i do? He's doomed. I'll just start work on the elf costume now. *sigh*

I've been so busy, and I've had no inspiration for the longest time, but I'm BACK! I've changed a couple of things in parts one, two and three of The Invited and I've completed part four- The finale! :-) It'll be up within a few minutes of me posting this. I hope my fans haven't abandoned me!!!

But, I swear, I'm getting to it! My firefly addiction has hit an all time high. I've joined the fine folk at www.stillflying.net, which has been tons of fun, but has cut into my fanfic time a little. I'm officially the casting director, finding actors to virtually play the roles of original characters, which is tons of fun and not too time consuming. But, because I'm me, I want to write too, and it just so happened that one of the writers was going on vacation and they needed someone to step up and write and episode... Well, of course, I volunteered. So far its been going very well. Matt, the writer, had very good notes for how the episode should go, so writing it has been very fun. This, however, really has stolen my "Over the Hills..." time. What can I say? Geminis are known for their ability to rapidly switch projects. Sorry? I am getting back to working on "Over the Hills..." though. I am half way through chapter eleven, having a little bit of trouble working out the finer points of this chapter's "job" (I swear, if I ever writing another fanfic, they're going to steal something; teenage sabotage is complicated, damn it!), which of course made it ten times easier to forgo writing my fanfic so that I could write the virtual firefly episode... but I swear, things are starting to come along. I'm not going to be doing much writing this weekend. I may do some more before I go to bed tonight and I might have sometime to work on either this or the virtual firefly episode tomorrow, but Friday night I have a friend coming to visit (which should be awesome) and on Sunday I am going to Chicago with my Buddhism in Asian America class to visit a Buddhism temple and participate in their services. By the way -- anyone have a question they would like answered by a Buddhist monk? I haven't though of one yet. :-( I will have to get up around 4:40ish so that I have enough time to get ready and walk to the parking lot where we are meeting (damn U of I for being so big -- its a half hour walk) so that I'll be there by 6:15 am. Maybe I can get away with getting up at 5:00... Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know. Peace. ~ Arcadia

Finally! I have converted another to the Firefly family. She may not be fanatical, but she does like. My mother-in-law watched Serenity and then we got her into watching the others. So I have finally made the first conversion of my browncoat career. It feels good! Keep converting.

So here I am at my internship taking this opportunity to blog. I am a naughty intern. It sounds kinky, but its not. The truth is, next week is my last and I have run out of projects. Also, my boss isn't here today so I have no reason to even pretend to be busy. Basically, I've been job hunting and apartment hunting all morning. I'm starting to get anxious as the big moving day approaches. What if I can't find any one to hang out with? Huh? I am a social person by nature. An extrovert. If I don't find a way in which to unfurl my social butterfly wings, they will wither and die. I'll become one of those old woman that sits around watching tv and talking to her cat. Hey, wait a minute, I already do that :) 'Cept I'm not what one would consider old yet. I'm sure all this worry is much ado about nothing, but I can't help it. I'm a bit of a spaz, actually. So I'm trying to think of something firefly related to say just so you browcoats won't feel like you've read this blog for nothing. Unfortunately, I feel a little blocked right now, so let me leave you with one last thought. Its a little obvious, but nonetheless should be stated daily: Nathan Fillion is a sexy beast. --Chosen1

I was reading Tycho's rant over at Penny Arcade, when this caught my eye. "certainly, being in a house full of browncoats for the Serenity preview provided satisfaction at near optimal levels." And, if you look at the strip for super bowl sunday, Gabe mentions Firefly. Yay, famous (well, sort of) people like Firefly/Serenity! Warm fuzzies all around! ~WG out

I haven't posted anything here in a bit. I've been caught up in studying for finals and the discovery of the Appreciatin' Nathan thread. Those ladies are kinda crazy, in a good way. Anyway, I've been working on the last wp in my character series. It's River and it's almost done. I swear. I would like to do some drawings but our printer/scanner isn't working. Arrrrrrggg :pissed: I'm also working on part two of Lost Souls but it's not going super well. Writer's block sucks.

I have not been around all week. This is the first night since Sunday that I have been able to function properly. I have massive allergies, which is unfortunate, because I live in the 3rd worst city for allergies in the country. I have not been able to sleep through the night, because as soon as the pain meds wear off, my ear throbs and keeps me up. So I take more medicine, sing Mal's Song to myself(Thank you, Escape Key!)and try to fall back asleep. But better or not it's 10pm and I have to do some light cleaning becasue I felt like crap all week, my apartment looks like I felt, ya see. Tonght I caught up on my blogs and threads. Tomorrow, I fic. Speaking of, I can't read fic at work anymore, they are keeping us on a short internet leash. Sigh. Anyway, I'm out.

So, it was the birthday today. Worked for a few hours. It really is surprising how long secure code takes to write. So, many things to consider. Couldn't go out because the wife is sick (she's getting better), but whatever. Birthdays aren't exactly exciting for me anymore. So, I was told that I "got" a iPod nano. I had to order it though because my the people in my life are scared that they'd order the wrong thing. It's apparently shipped, so it'll probably be where I'm moving to on Thr by the time I get there. Anyway, back to work.

I posted some of the concept art from Pot23C, and it came out bad. At the moment, my scanner hates me and is not working, and my digital camera is a piece of go se. As a reult, the images are not very pretty to look at. Half because of the fuzziness, and half because of my lack of, uhm, artistic ability. I'll just say that they look a whole lot better when they're not all blurry and crap. Also, what I've posted have both gotten 1 ratings. I don't care if you hate it, people, just tell me WHY you hate it so I can fix it. Constructive criticism is good criticism. ~WG out

Total randomness here. My mind was out there floating the other day, and I had a vision. The job I would like to have is Interplanetary Garbage Retrieval Specialist. Retrieval, not collecting, because, like, the garbage isn't collected in space, it's just floating out there. You have to go out and get it. Because, if you hit it, you're toast. Or could be, if your hull isn't strong enough. Think of the service to humanity. Sort of like a sci-fi "Catcher in the Rye". So, the Interplanetary Debris Collection Force would be established to remove this very real hazard from interplanetary space lanes. This hazard is a little intimidating, and kinda real. Even now, in 2006, how much is out there? How much debris is out there from every Apollo moon mission? Out there waiting. Waiting to whack you when you least expect it as you're trying to sneak by on your way to Sedna. What brought this to mind was the scene in "Bushwacked" where the Alliance ship is blowing up the settlers' vessel. I remember thinking, even the first time I saw it, "OH MY FUCKING GOD, what they hell are they doing?" All those pieces floating in space, some only the size of a dinner plate, ready to smack some unsuspecting space traveler, doing possible mortal damage. There is no decomposition in space. Nothing is reabsorbed. I've always been sensitive to the whole "Reduce. Reuse. Recycle." paradigm, and here's the Alliance, just blowing this contained, reusable item into itty bitty bits. A nice, large chunk they could have towed somewhere and repurposed. Basically atomized, bit-mapped, pulverized. The hazard multiplied exponentially. Even Mal wanted them to blow it up. So it's not an evil Alliance mind-set. It's a human mind-set. Perhaps it's lack of sleep, perhaps I'm channeling my favorite scene from the Wim Wenders film "Until the End of the World", where the heroine finally finds her calling working on a satellite space station monitoring the Earth surface for eco-crimes. I want to do that. Really. Wouldn't that be fun? Making a difference? Saving the world from the humans that live on it? So. Specifics. You're in command of a short-range vessel, basically floating, tracking debris. The most important effort-saving initiative (read: money; read: fuel; read: time) would be to capture as many "elements" ("targets"?, the nomenclature itself is intriguing) using the least amount of fuel. Think of how fun it would be to set up the computer program to computate and navigate the space in between these "elements" using the least amount of resources. Other specifics. Storage. Reclamation. Arms? Armatures? The best, oh my goodness, the best, would be to "reclaim" the "elements" using motion only, much like the "barn swallow" maneuver from "Serenity". You track, you match speed, you align, and then just scoop them into your storage bay. No muss, no fuss. No unseemly use of fuel for redirection. No banging of tins. No jarring of seams. Well, there was jarring of seams in "Serenity", but I think they were in a rush. It would make me proud to say that my job involved making the 'verse safer for interplantary travel. And think what the crew could earn on eBay, selling what we find out there. Incomprehensible amounts of money, to my way of thinking. But perhaps the whole enterprise could be not-for-profit. We sell what we find, we pay our livings, we pay our expenses. We keep flying. We keep making space safe for travelers. Man, I sure am going off here, huh? Gee. There's no need to take our existing paradigm into space. Even in a "futuristic tale" such as FF, the same holds true, even though the science doesn't support the "wasteful enterprise". Just because we don't live there, don't mean we can dump junk there. Traveling around in times to come may very well depend on how well we manage our space trash now. I know there's enough out there even now to keep an Interplanetary Debris Collection Force busy for possibly a lifetime. Huh. My little flight of fancy turned into this totally boring morality tale about recycling. My apologies. I usua

I was browsing around the site, doing nothing in particular, when I had the greatest idea for Pot23C. It should provide an entire chapter or two's worth of material, and it has a very strong connection to Firefly. I want to tell you, I really do, but I can't or I'd spoil the surprise! I still love you all, but if I told you, the wrathful gods of fanfic writing would strike me dead as I typed. So I have no control over it. And on a completely unrelated note, I wacthed all of Moulin Rouge for the first time today. It was weird at first seeing Ewan McGregor without a lightsaber or assault rifle, but I enjoyed it very much (UNDERSTATEMNET) ~WG out

First, thanks for all the understanding messages/comments I've received about my hiatus. I've only got a week and half left to go, but it'll be a busy one. ...And then I've still got another whole year before college is through. To hell with my masters, I need a break. Anywho... You wouldn't think Metal Gear Solid and Firefly would have much in common, yet somehow I've found a way... One of my projects is working on a Metal Gear Solid film adaptation (which I'm gonna try to seriously pitch, by the way). To update it somewhat, I've borrowed Joss's idea of America and China coming together and the Earth being used up as the backdrop of the story. So I guess, in a way, I'm actually writing a bit of history on the Earth-that-was. Of course, should I actually be successful in pitching this (which would be a gorram miracle that I'm not really banking on) you never heard any of this from me, haha. Wouldn't want to be accused of plagiarism... Good Lord I can't wait 'til summer...

... it was... *coughchokehack* must not... speak.. ill.. of... summer... ok, well know, i guess im actually not violating anything in that SUMMER was great, absolutely awesome. which can't neccesarily be said for the rest of the movie. i mean, it certainly wasn't aweful, just a mite... odd? i dunno, it just wasn't particularly thrillin'. but summer really was spectacular. so you should all make sure you see it. as if you wouldn't already :rolleyes (omg, theres this one scene, something just happened i cant remember what, and someone throws her the car keyes, and she gives him this look- that look alone is gonna be worth buying the dvd. assuming there'll be a dvd)

First blog for me (ever!) so not very good at such things. Have been browsing in the Blue Sun room, seen some very impressive work lurking there, and thinking of the 'spoof' fanfic idea I have been rolling around in my brainpan for the past few weeks. Have been watching Firefly a lot again lately (hmm, but when don't I?) and listening to the spoof HPLHS musical "A shoggoth on the roof" and got this wacky idea about a Cthulhu Mythos/Firefly cross where the captain rushes the body of Wash to the small rim world of Arkham in search of Dr Herbert West to reanimate their fallen comrade, and along the way River starts spouting lines from the Necronomicon (which she found in the Tam's library on Osiris) and they run into all kinds of problems on the way. It's completely rough and unformed really, but someone I can't let the idea drop - and since I have no time in the world to write the gorram thing at the moment, I figured I'd at least find a place to drop the fragments of my thoughts were some people might find them. Well that was short, and if you're reading this, I may well have just robbed you of several minutes of your life, but thank you! lol

So...my grandmother has cancer. Lung cancer, to be precise. And no wonder, she smoked for 40 years, or so. She's on her second week of chemo (or however you spell it) and has two wigs and 5 hats. It's so weird to see her without hair and happy. She was one of those people who--as much as I adore her--was not happy all that often. Y'know, the type of person who always tries to find something wrong with the food, the place you're seated, the performance, everything. She used to be that way, calling 5,000 times a day and annoying us to no end that even my mom (it's my mom's mom) didn't want to do anything with her anymore. But now...Now that she has the cancer...Well, after the initial shock (obviously), she saw her life in a whole new way, I guess. She still calls, but this time, it's to inform us of how much she appreciates all the gifts and calls form her old friends and poeple at church. She tells me how proud she is (report cards came out last week and school band concerts are happening soon) and how much she loves us. She believes that if she believes hard enough, God will just cure her. If only it could be that simple...Y'know, in some ways, while I'm the teenager, she seems more childlike in her "blind faith." Am I that jaded already that God can't cure everything? Is she more pure because she believes more than I do? I wish I knew the answers to that. I wish that what she believes will happen...With all of my heart, I do. But if I'm being realistic (which doesn't happen too often. Mostly I'm stuck in the 'verse or my writing mind: the place where all my ideas come from, I guess), the chances don't look too good. *SCREAM* Sorry, I just had to get this out. I mean, journals are great for writing and rereading what you've written a couple years later, but in terms of human contact... If there are any Christians, or religious people of any sort, if you could possibly pray for my grandmother...Maybe that's too much to ask. I'm sorry, I don't know the proper ettiquete for this sort of thing. But if you could, please? Thanks for listening to my rambling. I don't know how much or how little to write anymore. *sad smile* Cheers to the browncoats, ~ForeverShiny

This is the beginning of my fanfic once finished it will be published in the Blue Sun Room. Plot: Introduction of Jorja Reynolds. Jorja looks down at the letter she just started to write. Dear Mal, I'm sorry for shooting you. "Well that sucks," disappointed Jorja screws up the paper and tosses it across the room to the already over filled wastebasket. "I just don't know what to say to him," talking to herself she hurls the rest of the paper at the wall and paces the room. "I guess i'll just have to talk face to face, that didn't work all to well last time though," and leaves the room. ***** "Uh.... lady we're all filled up. Not a room to spare. Maybe next time." Kaylee explains the situation, blocking the inward ramp to serenity. But Jorja pushes passed. "I've always admired the Firefly class," comments Jorja as she inspects the ship with an ever careful eye, "Its one of those ships that just remind you of the past and how different it was." "When do you expect the captain back?" Jorja enquires. "Any minute now, but as I told you we are all full," replies Kaylee. Now the pair are just entering the kitchen. Jorja continues to inspect the ship. In the distance the voices of Mal and Wash are heard. Jorja stops her inspection and walks to the voices, Mal continues his conversation with Wash. Mal looks up, notices Jorja and draws his gun. Wash and Kaylee look around horrified to see Mal pointing his gun at a lady. "GET OFF MY SHIP!" exclaims Mal. Jorja raises her hands and starts to back down the ramp. She thinks about saying something but pauses for a second and whispers to herself, "I knew this wouldn't work." ***** Several months later, Jorja sitting behind the bar comments to the bartender, "I'm almost finished this, you can go home, i'll lock up." "Ok, boss, only if your sure," replies the bartender. "Yeah, go ahead, nobody gonna turn up here tonight," Jorja explains, "to many alliance in this sector." The bartender agrees and leaves the bar. The door shuts and for a minute she's alone to finish her paperwork. She hears the door again and asks, "You forgot you jacket again, didn't you?" Silence fills the room, then footsteps creep closer behind her. Jorja slowly reaches for the knife hidden under her paperwork, but before she can, she feels the barrel of a gun at her head. "Oh crap," she thinks. She turns slowly to see a familiar face holding the gun to her head. "What do you want?" Jorja questions the familar face, who now has discovered the knife she was reaching for and pockets it in his coat. "What do you know about River?" demands the familar face, still holding the gun to her head. She scans the tired and dirty face, its not how she last remembered it, but that was about a year ago since she last saw him. "I told you everything," she replies. Unsure if he is angry or just after more information she adds, "Is that necessary," and points to the gun. "Are you sure there's nothing else you want to mention about my sister, Jorja," asks Simon, "and knowing you, it is necessary." "No, I told you everything i know about River," replies Jorja, relieved that Simon has also put the gun away now, "Why what has happened to the two of you?" "Same old, same old, the alliance following us," replies Simon and sits beside Jorja. Jorja gets up and pours two drinks, places one in front of Simon. He shakes his head. "No thanks, I don't drink much anymore," passing the glass back to Jorja. She sculls both drinks and pours another for herself. "Yeah, suprised you're here, actually there's quite a few alliance in this sector tonight," comments Jorja, "so you better get back to Serenity." "Thanks again for setting me up with that crew, they've been.... good." says Simon, as he gets up from his seat. "So what exactly did you want when you came here tonight?" Jorja questions Simon, as she's puzzled to Simon's presence in a alliance hot sector. "River's just being... her i guess, I had to use the safe

I don't know why I picked this as my first entry, but I thought some people might get a kick out of it. I was at work today (I get one shift a week on Sundays). I work at an A&W in my city, and since I'm not there for 6 days out of the week, a lot gets passed by me that I'm not informed of. A few months ago though, we started doing deliveries, and I still haven't gotten the hang of it. Well i have, it's just whenever there's a delivery phoned in or whatever it's like the gates of hell have been broken and molten hot lava and body parts are pouring out. Everything goes hectic, and people panic, and they tell whent he food is needed, and yell and get angry when other stuff needs to be done because they're working with the delivery. So, (as you can tell I'm a writer and I just can't spit out my point. This is the fact that's earned me many high grades in English and many harsh words from my mother) the delivery man came at the specified time and.... No food. We didn't have any of the food ready, because, hey it's a Sunday and we're all lethargic and dreading to go back to school (it was me and two 16-year-olds working the front, and a fine job we were doing until then). So he got angry. Very angry. His face turned red, his eyebrows arched, his teeth grinded, fisted hands and the whole shebang. And he exploded like Mt. Vesuvius. Yelling irately at us, telling us he had other deliveries to make and such, why we scrambled to get the food made. Honestly, half of me was disgusted int his guy to be yelling at three teenagers, who were only trying to do their job the best they could with the hectic deliveries and all. And the other half of me was terrified and crying because I thought this man was going to literally kill me on the spot. I bagged the food dexterously and swiftly handed him the bag, with my sweetest apologetic grin, and a squeaky, "Sorry." Than, out of no where, he exclaimed, "Oh my God, what an awesome way to spell that name!" as he looked at my name tag. I blushed and mumbled my reserved thank yous but the guy was like dumbfounded. He kept claiming, that my name spelt the way it is, was the coolest name he'd ever seen. He even made me come back over so he could look at it better (my nametag that is (And at first I thought he was being sly, but then I realized that the shirt we're required to wear is like a bowling top and shows nothing at all). He read it over, shook his head, and chuckled. Happier than when he came in for sure. He smiled at me, and said thank you for the food and wished me a good day. Later on he came back for another delivery and I was still there. He laughed and said that I still had the coolest name and that it made his day. That kinda made me feel weird, but whatever. The guy was happy and I made him happy so, woohoo for us. The point of this story (this long brain-solidifying story) is that my name (the one I'm not to fond of (not Abby) is Kayleigh. And I kinda like it now. And later that night when we got bored (Sundays are slow) we played say your name backwards (we're all so intelligent at A&W) I lost first and I didn't mind at all (after all who could say Hgielyak? it's like a typo) The End

So my car was hit again. :censored: Open the door and look hard at my car...huh, that's odd, i didn't park it there and no one said they moved it...oh look, it's been pushed a good ten yards, oh and the bumper is crushed, the light is smashed to pieces, the metal is crunched and buckled, and the paint is well, it will need repainting. Let me recap for all of you since you don't know... Last vehicle had three hit and runs...one was found but she was so messed up that she couldn't pay. This car has been hit three times. Once again, no one there to claim. I'm really getting upset. Well lit area. I always park near a light. I never park next to a corner. How do they miss the freakin car? I guess I should ask how they don't miss it....argh! Twenty other cars park in the street and it's always mine that's hit. And I hate talking to the police, they always make me feel like it's my fault. I'd park in a driveway if I could. Obviously, the universe doesn't think I should own a vehicle. Another deductible down the drain. *insert string of curse words to make even Jayne blush*

I saw Mark A. Sheppard on the episode titled "Witches in Tights", this morning. I believe he played Arnon. Also saw Melinda Clarke on a few weeks back, I think she played the siren. These episodes are of course re-runs.

Yeah, just wanna apologize for my confusing ending to episode 3. I saw that one coming before I ever posted it. I promise I'm actually going somewhere with all this! We've had nothing but questions arising to this point, and little or nothing in the way of answers, but things will finally start to fall together starting with my next episode, entitled Memories. I'll be around here for awhile, so thanks for reading!

Yesterday I bought the serenity sound track and it is the greatest cd I have ever spent $18 on. The music is very touching and heart felt. The display of time and effort that was put forth into making this masterpiece shines enormously. It brings all the aspects of the movie and turns it into an unforgetable form of cultural art. Great job david

So I went over my aunt's house the other day and of course, I brought my Firefly Box Set. I introduced her to the show, and by the end of the pilot she's yelling, "Why did they cancel this show?!" We wound up watching the next 3 or 4 episodes before we both fell asleep! And I lent her all of my beloved Fireflys. What ever shall I do until I get them back? Whoohoo! We got ourselves one more browncoat !

Also ive got thise fix idea of making a shortfilm based on a reaver attack and flight around those old bunkers... see how it evolves in time. Who knows, maybe ill reach those stars and become a director with my own "firefly" one day. Well, I can dream atleast ;)

So I sent a letter with a picture in it to Jewel a few weeks ago and it just came in the mail today with her shiny little autograph in it. She is just too sweet. I only wish I could go and get it in person instead of having to resort to fanmail, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Plus it's just too cool to not have it. Well, that made my day. One day. One mission. One army of Browncoats. On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

Oh, God I had a bad day today. Got up at 3:30 a.m to vomit, took some medicine, went back to sleep. Woke up at 6:00 to go to class, had to leave to vomit a few more times, stayed in my apartment for the rest of the day with a fever and vomiting every ten minutes. I'm actually on my laptop because I'm afraid to vomit near my PC. *Hurls* Ewww, that tasted like a mix of Sprite, pretzels, and chocolate. Probably shouldn't be eating..... Oh well. I need sleep and more drugs..... ~WG out (with more vomit)

****SERENITY**** MAL: Ready? ZOE: Always. MAL: We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die. Huh? Look at that chiseled jaw. WASH: This is a Fertile land and we will thrive... WASH (as stegosaurus): We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... This Land. WASH (as T-Rex): I think we should call it... your grave! WASH (as stegosaurus): Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! WASH (as T-Rex): Ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! WASH: I'd say worth a little risk. JAYNE: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. WASH: I can always say I was flying the ship by accident. JAYNE: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? MAL: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month. ZOE: I know something ain't right. WASH: Sweetie, we're crooks. If everything were right, we'd be in jail. WASH: Just a couple of days lying around, you with the bathing. Me with the watching you bathe. MAL: And I'd like to be king of all Londinum and wear a shiny hat. KAYLEE: Compression coil busts, we're drifting... MAL: Best not bust, then. MAL: Well, maybe I'm not a fancy gentleman like you with your... very fine hat. JAYNE: I don't understand why we didn't leave that sumbitch in a pool of his own blood. MAL: We'd be dead. Can't get paid if you're dead. JAYNE: Ten percent of nothing is -- let me do the math here -- nothing into nothing, carry the -- MAL: We got protein in all the colors of the rainbow. MAL: Jayne, your mouth is talking. You might wanna look to that. MAL: Been a long time since Patience shot me and that was due to a perfectly legitimate conflict of interest. I got no grudge. MAL: If anyone gets nosy, just, you know... shoot 'em. ZOE: Shoot 'em? MAL: Politely. JAYNE: Little Kaylee here just wishes you was a gynecologist. BOOK: brought you some supper, but if you'd prefer a lecture, I've a few very catchy ones prepped. Sin and hellfire... one has lepers. MAL: This is not my best day ever. SIMON: Can you move your feet? Kaylee. Stay with me. Can you move your feet? KAYLEE: Are you asking me to dance...? MAL: This is over, you and me are gonna have a personal chat. SIMON: Won't that be fun. MAL: Huh. SIMON: I need to check her vitals. MAL: Oh, is that what they call it? WASH: Can we maybe vote on the whole murdering people issue? MAL: Now you only gotta scare him. JAYNE: Pain is scary. JAYNE: Was gonna get me an ear, too. ZOE: If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh and sew our skins into their clothing and if we're very very lucky, they'll do it in that order. MAL: Gettin' awful crowded in my sky. KAYLEE: You're nice, too. MAL: No, I'm not. I'm a mean old man. INARA: I gave the boy a free thrust, since he's not long for this world. SIMON: That man's psychotic. MAL: Oh... I'm a bad man. MAL: Well, we may not have parted on the best of terms. I realize certain words were exchanged. Also, certain... bullets. MAL: I believe that woman's planning to shoot me again. JAYNE: Here's a little concept I been workin' on. Why don't we shoot her first? WASH: It is her turn. ZOE: Nice place for an ambush. JAYNE: Testing. Testing, Captain, can you hear me? MAL: I'm standing right here. JAYNE: You're coming through good and loud. MAL: 'Cause I'm standing right here. JAYNE: Sure you don't just wanna piss yourself and back down like you did with Badger? ZOE: She still has the advantage over us. MAL: Everyone always does. That's what makes us special. MAL: Well, you were right about this being a bad idea. ZOE: Thanks for sayin', sir. WASH: If everybody could just be quiet a moment... WASH: I don't mean to alarm anybody... but I think... we're being followed. ZOE: Sir? I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my cloth

Saw our good old friend Nathan Fillion today in Slither. Not bad at all actually, infact I thought it was good. Had some nice effects and I thought it was funny in all the right places. Kinda like Zombie movies and this one was a Zombie movie with a twist. Missed the premier of Mammoth though (the one with Summer in it), Only have one friend who has SciFi channel (damn sweden) and he had stuff to do. Pretty sure I will see it though. Also on a bit of a suprising note, been going through all the different projects that the Firefly cast have worked in before, found some good stuff there (like Wonderfalls, excellent show) and got me something of a suprise when I found out that Jewel Staite had played a part in the old series Higher Ground. That show helped me get through a tough time once, So I guess I owe the crew of Serenity one more. Ps: Oh, almost forgott, sorry I didnt make the Chat tonight, just todamn tired, see you all another night.

_______________________________________________ I already got my TV, I don't need help anymore. _______________________________________________ I need a TV for my room. But I don't know much about TVs. So, I've been learning. Wow! There's a lot to learn. Ok, I guess what I'm looking for here is some advice from a TV guru, or even just someone with more experience than me. I'll give you the bones of my desire. From what I know so far, I want a: 17" Flat panel LCD TV, it needs to be "wall mount friendly," it needs to be between $0.00 and $500.00, and I’d like at least decent visual and audio quality (the best I can get for the price I want, obviously). These are slightly flexible requirements. Now that you know my basic preferences, I'm open for suggestions. If you know of a TV that you think I might be interested in, or if you just have TV related knowledge to share, please feel free to help me :þ. And keep in mind that my requirements are slightly flexible. Also, I won't be watching any actual television on it (just DVDs). Don’t hesitate to make me look stupid if you see gaps or blurs in my knowledge :). I want to learn this stuff. I got most of my knowledge from howstuffworks.com:

I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy right now...no I've not been drinking... Only wanted to say that since I've been hangin around this site, I've met some pretty awesome people. People who totally understand this weird phenonmenon that has become such a terrific part of my life. You guys rock and don't take it the wrong way when I say I love you. As for Firefly, I've never fallen head over heels for a t.v. show, or a movie, at that. Never. And the fact that I can watch an episode when I'm depressed, and feel like a million buck afterwards, still surprises me. There is some magic in it some magic that makes it so beautiful you want to cry...happy tears of course. Now I'm blubberin' and ramblin' like a moonbrain...so I'll just end with something simple: Me+Firefly+Ya'll= ...and they say math is hard.

Traveller's Tales feels big. I have big ideas for it, but it's taking a while to get the story off the ground. In the next chapter, they retreive the ship and Belle confronts Mal about the bounty on his crew's head. Also, I'm planning to write a Firefly/Doctor Who crossover fic. Nothing to do with Traveller's Tales, just a bit of fun.

So do people really post blogs here? Really and truly? Well. Gee. I'm a recent Firefly fan. I've never had the luxury of a TV. Well not one that gets channels. So I saw Serenity. Then I liked it. Cos Joss rocks. I has seen every episode of Buffy cos my roommate was obsessed. Then I thought to myself: I want to get Firefly. Then whambam, I found it on eBay for like $25 and whoosh, purchased it. Haven't really ever stopped watching it. Watched, watched with my roommate, got her hooked, watched more, watched with a friend, got her hooked... so yeh. That is what is up. And I spend my free time writing fanfiction and searching for grand pictures of Mal with his guns. Or anything else. Yeh.

I saw this onine and it actualy kindof works. with the exceptoin of to of them it was absolutely right. I was a little skeptical trying this, but if you follow the instructions to the "t" you'll be surprised!!!! All of my answers were accurate. We'll see tomorrow if the wish comes true. I'll let you know. Take 3 minutes and try this...it will freak you out! The person who sent it to me said her wish came true 10 minutes after they read the mail. BUT NO CHEATING! This game has a funny/spooky outcome. Don't read ahead...just do it in order! It takes about three minutes...it's worth a try First..get a pen and paper. When you actually choose names, make sure it's people you actually know and go with your first instinct. Scroll down one line at a time...and don't read ahead or you'll ruin it! 1. First, write the numbers 1 through 11 in a column. 2. Then, beside numbers 1 and 2, write down any two numbers you want. 3. Beside the 3 and 7, write down the names of members of the opposite sex. NO LOOKING AHEAD...OR IT WONT TURN OUT RIGHT! 4. Write anyone's name (like friends or family....) in the 4th, 5th, and 6th spots. 5. Write down four song titles in 8,9, 10, and 11. GO WITH YOUR INSTINCT PEOPLE!!!! 6. Finally, make a wish. And now the key for the game..... 1. You must tell (the number in space 2) people about this game. 2. The person in space 3 is the one that you love. 3. The person in 7 is one you like but can't work out. 4. You care most about the person you put in 4. 5. The person you name in number 5 is the one who knows you very well. 6. The person you name in 6 is your lucky star. 7. The song in 8 is the song that matches with the person in number 3. 8. The title in 9 is the song for the person in 7. 9. The tenth space is the song that tells you most about YOUR mind. 10. and 11 is the song telling you how you feel about life NOW...send this to 10 people within the hour you read this...IF you do..your wish will come true

Last night I watched Sahara and I could not get into it at all. About a little less than half way into it I realized that I was comparing it to Serenity and told myself to stop. After that I started to enjoy the film. Why did I have to turn brown? TV shows are not the same. And now movies? Luckily it hasn't affected my viewing of older movies, but then again, they were made to a different caliber than current movies. This totally bites. Now I am going to have to remind myself to watch a movie as itself and not expect another Serenity. Gee. Fun. Some movies you expect to be worse than BDM, like Cheaper by the Dozen (watched it Sunday). But that was a guarantee. Curse you Joss. Curse your amazing writing abailities. Curse your perfect cast. Curse you all to heck. I am just going to go home and watch the BDM all over again.

Well, I thought I was maybe done vomiting, so I ate some ramen, and, uh, yeah, not pretty. And especially bad tasting when you drink orange juice with it. And I think the drugs I was taking made me crazy or something, cuz I had a dream and all I can remember was Mal in a Panda suit. :) :vomit: There I go again. More bed and drugs now. ~WG out :vomit: :vomit: :vomit:

Found myself sitting in my sofa today asking that one question that nags at me and probebly everyone else here from time to time, Why cant things just go smoothe. Got my taxpapers couple of days ago, didnt bother much about them. Went through them today though since I need em in next week and found out the funny part in this here story. I have to pay 1300 swedishcrowns in taxes. Wich granted aint alot, infact most people wouldnt think of it at all. The quaint thing is that I dont have any income at all, and with that I dont just mean that im low on dough, no I mean that I am flat broke and should have been kicked out of my apartment six months ago but thank god I share the place with my older brother. So what am I paying all these taxes for? Well, you got me there, I just dont get it. Well, looks like ill have to borrow money from friends and family to make due this month. And unfortunetly things dont go smooth in other departments either. Basicly I live on stuff that makes protein sound like french cuisine (50sek for food a week), Im outstressed, got lots of obligations to take care of and no time or energy to take care of them. Basicly im just barely hanging on to the edge here, but somehow I keep flying. Just dont ask me how. Oh, and if you got this far, thanks for listening to my complaints about the verse, I appriciate it.

I have an addiction and its name is caffeine. I know what your thinking. "Yeah, you and every other college student in the US." I know its nothing out of the ordinary but when I popped open the XXL Monster Energy Drink this morning I realize that my addiction has taken its next step toward the "sad" section. Its ok I guess I can be a sad addict for the next two and a half weeks untill the end of the semester or at least until I go into cardiac arrest. People say cardiac arrest if a bad this, I say it just my body having a little fun.

Just posted the beginning of Memories, my fourth episode. I feel that this is truly where the series finally begins to unfold. That's about all I got for now; the rest of this episode will be posted as it is completed.

Okay, my thesis is due next week. I have no more excuses. Procrastination is not acceptable. I need to just do it and shut up about it. On a happier note, this is my last week as an intern. Of course, that will cut down on my blogging time, as well as my surfing-the-net-for-naked-pictures-of-Fillion time. I can't help myself. I am transfixed by his perfect buttocks.... *chosen 1 pauses as she stares dreamily off into space*....I'm sorry, what were we talking about? So, yeah, I have my work cut out for me. I'm just going to stock up on Diet Pepsi and apple butter sandwiches and finish the darn thing. When I am done, I will send out a joyful blog thanking all of you who read my whiny blogs and kept your unflattering comments to yourself. Love and kisses, Chosen1

The vomiting has mostly stopped, and I can go to class again. I'm not sure how I like that. Anyhoo, I have to leave town for a wedding this weekend, won't be back til Wed. Hopefully I'l have a chance to finish chapter 2 of Pot23C and post it when I get back. In the meanwhile, I put up some more "art" of mine to tide you over til I get the rest finished up. And, I think the title might have to change to "Pirates of the 25th Century," otherwise the story arc I have in mind would be pretty unbelievable. So just speed it up two hundred years. ~WG out

First and fore-most I just want to say that I do not refer to myself as "the kat" I just thought it was funny (I'm a fire-cracker when I have had my milk lol!) Second item on my agenda is the apology I have to give to all my friends on here - I have sOo many excuses but I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me - I have been a terrible support (if that is what you can call me now) to my fellow fans and I am truly sorry!! From the depths of my heart I ask for your forgiveness... I'm really going to try and redeem myself and get back into the swing - I have been watching many of the Firefly epis so, soon my friends, all will be shiny in my/our 'verse!! I will leave this blog on that note as I have a few personal apologies to attend to... I love you all :) Jesh x

So, I finally contributed a piece of work to the site yesterday. I'm happy I finally did a wallpaper for Inara and Mal. I love that couple, and I've been wanting to put something on this site for a while. I absolutely love fan art. It's one of the best ways to show your love for a show, other then the usual ways. I wish I was better, but hey...anything is better then nothing right? ;D I'm not sure which character(s) I should work on next. Any ideas, throw 'em at me. On a non-Browncoat related note, I have this boring essay due on the third. I don't know why I can't just sit down and write it. You would think it was like I had to pull out my own tooth or something. In my defense the article I have to do a summary on is written so formally that it makes my head spin every time I read it. Thanks to those who decided that if you're really smart you have to write in another language which only appears to be English. **sighs** I'd rather be spending my time frusterated in photoshop because Inara's hair doesn't look right. I know what will make me feel better. **light bulb goes off on top of head** I'll watch "Objects in Space". If that's not thought inspiring then I don't know what is.

Boy, do I love this site. I think it might be the only one I visit daily! Everythings great. Been workin' on the fanfic, but no amazing progress. I'm just that kinda person. It'll definitley be something on my 'Do This' list. Near the top, not necessarily the biggest priority. You know how it is. Stay shiny

Found this neet site today called art.com where you can make paintings and then watch while they repaint them. Kinda childish actually, but heck, I like childish things  To bad I paint at a fifthgrade level, but atleast I paint better on a computer then in real life. Look at my "awesome" painting here

Today just went COMPLETELY down the drain. I wanna tell y'all why, but I'd be risking great personal embarassment. Well, considering I trust most people here more than I trust my roommates, I guess I can tell you. Mostly. Let's just say I have some rejection issues. Not to the point where I can lift and throw buses (check here:

In case there's any IE Browncoats lurkin' about... The mosque I go to in Chino does a fair amount of Book Stalls at various events (our Hawthorne mosque will have a Book stall at the L.A. Times Festival of Books this weekend) and this weekend starting Friday I'll be manning our Book Stall & info booth at the Upland Lemon Festival if you're in the area and wanna stop by to say Ni Hao-dy... The Lemon Festival will be off Euclid Ave. 9th and 3rd. Look for the ISLAM INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS banner... Don't have a browncoat per se, but I got a brown vest -- does that count?

Is it bad I would rather stay in and watch Firefly rather than go out? Hm, I think maybe.

In my horrible mopeyness yesterday, I was flipping through channels, and I came across Mammoth. It's a good movie, made even better by the presence of Summer in her not-so-morbid-and-creepifying act. Well, I felt better. Although I prefer the morbid and creepifying Summer. And, even though I knew the character's name, I always referred to her as River. ~WG out

For all those who responded to my blog yesterday. I went outside! I went rollerskating! Then I tried skateboarding well longboarding for about 2 min. I thought I'd never get on a skateboard again as long as I live cause I usally hurt myself terribly whenever I step on one. Also nothing to do with firefly or serenity but you were all so nice yesterday. I feel heathier already!

You know sometimes they are there in disguise. I have been taking college classes and this year I graduate. Last week at one of my English classes the teacher passes out this list of sci-fi movies. We have to watch one from the list and next week discuss the movie's vision of the future. (No, Serenity was not on the list, though it should be.) Anyway,at break my teacher is talking about how she loves science fiction and a little fantasy depending on what it is. She happened to sit by me this class. I look at her, this fun older woman with spunk who I have enjoyed having class with but never would have guessed she loves sci-fi. So I lean over and say "Connie, have you ever heard of a show called Firefly?" and how did she answer : "I own Firefly" I swear I was struck dumb for two seconds and my eyes lit up. "I love it" she continues. "My son and i got into it a while ago." THen I say "then you have seen the movie" "of course" she repies. Okay that just made my day it really did. Who would have known that my college english instructor is a fan of Firefly - don't know if she is a full fledged browncoat, but still. Someone in my 'Verse (besides my family) loves Firefly. So here's to Browncoats everywhere. The ones we know and the ones yet to be found. I wonder how many other people I pass on the street are Browncoats. I wish there was a way to tell, like if we carried around a pin or something.

With "The Unexpected", I had a deadline to make. The ending I feel was a little rushed. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow afternoon (4-29-06)and there is some remodling being done which never goes easily; so I wanted Simon to be out of his cell and the baby to be born. I hope I am forgiven for the rush. I will be back where I can write on-line after June 10th, ansd with some luck much sooner For "The Recovery", i'll have time to explore some of the areas about Simon's recovery that went unexplained. I also had intended to write a epilog to "The Unexpected" placed on year into the future. instead, I want to explore how Simon reacts to being free, of reforming contact with Kaylee, forming a bond with littl Rill (for the few of you who don't know, a rill is a small brook - so in a way she is named after River.) and can anybody see Simon doing baby talk? Besides how can I pass up the chance for River to harass "Captain Daddy"? After "The Recovery" I want to merge the story line with the events in the movie - i've had more rewrites removing references to the movie than anything else. Till later. Zucht

I had a plan. A very good plan. ... Well ok, it wasn't THAT good, but I had a plan nevertheless. So whilst working today (And the past few days for that matter) I've been thinking about adding the next chapter of Needy's Destiny. I thought about where I was going to take it and, not only that, but also the future Needy arcs in SereniTree, Destiny and spin-off stories. But it was getting too much so I decided that when I finished work, I'd get straight to writing Chapter 6 of Needy's Destiny cos I had to start somewhere. I was in the right mindset and everything but I had to nip into town, so I thought I'd do it afterwards. But afterwards came dinner, and because I knew I'd be watching the Ricky Gervais episode of The Simpsons about 30 minutes later, I decided to hold back till after then. You know where this is heading already don't you? I didn't do squat. I came back and found a friend was online on MSN so I chatted to her for a bit and before I know it it's 9.40pm and my head is killing (I've had a headache a few days off and on) So now I'm not up for it. And I'm kinda annoyed. It's the story of my life, I put things off again and again until it's too late and I'm cursing myself for doing it. I'd like to think I'd write some no matter waht tomorrow, but I don't know how much time I'm going to have. I'll probably be going out in the morning till early afternoon, and again at night to the house of the friend I was just talking to. Not sure what's happening midday, but if its anything like most weekends of late, either my sister will be coming round or my uncle will be coming to do some work on our kitchen (and the pc is situated about a metre away) Agh!!!

To begin with my wife and I are in the process of adopting from China. We have an adopting agency that we are using but nearly all the paper work we are doing. Getting this paper certified or notarized, just why are we paying them! For some odd reason I believe that if you are paying someone to do a job for you, then they should do that job not you do it for them. I asked about that and was told they act as a middleman between China and us. A very high priced middleman, if you ask me. I am not real happy about what I was told but for now I live with it.Maybe some day Wal-Mart will get into the adoption game and then we'll see what happens.

Why, I ask you, do men assume that because a woman has breasts she is stupid? And why must her degree of stupidity increase with size of said breast? I work in the IT field and for some reason the dumbarse salesmen in the frickin "client development dept" never believe me when I tell them something - ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH DUDE it isn't a router! It can't support IP directed broadcast!!!!!!!!!!! I need an engine to kick them through. Bet no one ever looks at Zoe's chest when she talks to them! In addition, my lawyer has done NOTHING for me in the divorce, my house payment just went up by 200 bucks a month and I am already workin 2 jobs. I need me some Serenity/Firefly. Think I will go pick a disc at random and surprise myself! :crap: :hanged: :disappointed:

Hey, gang, It's seems like forever since I last updated..but gotta keep the old folks cool..I've gotten some comic book work done for my submission to the publishers...they're almost ready to submit and if I can catch a breather this weekend I'll finish 'em up... Still haven't heard one way or the other on my covers....but I'm still hoping for the best... Got a couple of Firefly / Serenity drawings almost ready to post...I'll see if I can get those up this weekend.... On a personal note I had all my a/c refrigeration tools stolen out of my truck this week and am in the process of replacing 20+ years of accumulated tools....which doesn't not suck..I figure they probably got about 10 grand worth...bastards... So till next time.....

So, I am minding my own business, going to work, raising children, shoring up the spousal units self esteem - you know wifely things. And right under my nose the :censored: :censored: :censored: is sleeping with the woman TWO DOORS AWAY! and her name is also Tracy (mine)! but I don't know this until he leaves and I find out AFTER we sign the agreement - the one I signed because he says he just needs to "find himself" (I really should have known better, he couldn't find his ass with a GPS transmitter shoved up it) and then the :censored: :censored: is stupid enough to get married and WE ARE NOT DIVORCED! So now it is my fault - cuz he says so- he won't pay support, the judge threw out the case, we have to start over and then he goes on the stand and tells the court he is a Navy Seal - like I WOULDN'T know that. Apparently he went on a "Secret mission" and I kicked him out! The whole GORRAM town believes this crap. So its a crappy crappy year and the only light at the end of my tunnel is the train bearing down on me. I need SERENITY NOW !

Oh... just watched Aliens again, today, got the quote stuck in my head. (Forgot I even had the Director's Cut.) ... well, I can watch something othert than Firefly/ Serenity, right? :) Anyways, seems to be quite a number of threads discussing Serenity Day/ Summer of Serenity, etc. Getting a little confusing for some of us grunts, I think. Now, it's just shiny that we're having some good discussion about all of this, and what would a forum be without everyone's opinions? But, someone wake me up when it's all over and decided :) I'll keep an eye out for anything that lets me know if we've got an official plan, and look forward to seeing wether or not I'll have transportation for one of the Serenity screenings on June 23rd (I'll be the dork with the lunchbox :) Anyways, keep shiny people, and don't forget we're all family here. May be some bickering at times, but we're all here for the same reasons.

Just came home from a LARP I held (changeling not firefly though) and im a bit run down from running around all day stressed up. Also I got into a discussion about Firefly with a babylonian? baber? Dont really know what Babylon 5 fans call themselves... Anyway he started giving me all these arguments for why Firefly wouldnt be reaired (evil man) and also he pretty much reafermed my belief that I have no chance of becoming a producer / director in sweden (great chance to study to it, no chance to get work) since he is in the same line of education as I am. Been a stressfull, gritty and slightly dispairing day, so basicly.. I could use a Hug.

Or as real as I'm probably gonna find within 15 miles of my home. So I'm at the Upland, CALIF. Lemon Festival at our Mosque's book stall and something tells me a gotta saunter on down the street and take a looksee around. I go on a Walkabout and stop in front of a shop window that has long coats & western wear / native american stuff. That brings me into the shop. Still lookin' for a browncoat... So there's nothing really Browncoaty in there, so I start looking around elsewhere and see all these old west reproductions of guns -- Winchester's, Henry's (rifles), plus Old West handguns. So I ask the shopkeeper if he's got any 1858 Army or Navy Cap & Ball pistols -- this is the basic design that got turned into Mal's "Hero" sidearm with the octoagonal barrel. So the shopkeeper says, "no 1858s per se -- but he does have a reproduction of an 1851 Navy version. The gun frame is brass and the cylinder and barrel are black, plus the stock is standard, not elongated like Mal's. But the good news is it's a real working pistol, not a toy! For sales purposes, he can't have fully working firearms in his shop cuz he doesn't have a fire-arms dealer's license. But all the gun is missing are the "nipples", which act sorta like firing pins to actually cause the hammer energy to get transferred to the cylinder chamber and ignite the black powder primer. Long story made short, I am 3 days away from having in my hot little hands a potentially (in the future) fully working Mal's gun -- sans the prop add-ons and other stuff on the actual 1858 used for Mal's gun. Plus the guy has holsters, so gotta see about getting the whole holster and belt setup to go with it. Also at this place, were several other 1851s -- one a Confederate style with all silver metal-work with the high-raised thumb hammer and another all black, also with the high-rasied hammer. But these last two are not working guns and can't be modified to actually fire. But for a prop to go with a Mal costume (especially the all-black one) these 1851s would have the weight and feel of a real gun, instead of the Resin prop things. It gets better people... So without me even asking him if he's got any dusters of a 'brownish" color, he volunteeres that he's getting in some "Tombstone" style long coats and dusters that a place in Arizona makes -- they made them for the actual movie. Of course, I ask if they'll come in brown, and he says, no all in black. So I then start enlightening him about Firefly and the manic obsession that Browncoats have obtaining their own real-life Browncoats, and how if he could get a sizable quanity of under $300 browncoat dusters, he'd have the possibility of selling them potentially thousands of us Browncoats. I recently picked up the Serenity graphic novel and showed him the browncoat Mal wears, along with his gun, explaining the as many reasonable facsimiles of these two items as he could procure, I could find buyers for. The shopkeeper is a big Western fan -- has watched "Tombstone" and "Open Range" the way we all watch the BDS and BDM -- so I explained how Firefly was an outer space western, with six-shooters, horses and that great Civil War-era music & chivalry thing going on. So he asks me what's up with show? Why'd it get cancelled, etc. Told him it was too good & well-written for all them Neilson viewers (all 5,000) who decide what's a hit and what's not. Plus how the network execs were brain-dead pencil-pushers with the heads up their pi-gu's. Anyway, I'm enthusing away about the show and then you should've seen his eyes get huge when I told him that this 3-month-run cancelled Fox TV show from 2002 has sold 500,000 DVD boxsets of the series since it came out -- and that it spawned a movie in Sept. 2005... and that translated into a whole passel of folks with cashy money just waiting for their own real Browncoats and 1858's of their own and how he could make some serious ka-CHING out of it... Plus he's aBrowncoat waitin' to happen, I can tell. In the store window of his shop is that famous poster of Geronimo or crazy horse -

Can someone let me know what is usually written in these things? I wasn't sure whether this is the the right place to put this, but I wanted to let people know that I have 8 chapters of my story Winding River written to date. Should I post them all at once or space them out a bit so that you don't have a big wait for the end of the story? It should reach about 14 chapters in all. Hope it pleases! Let me know how I can improve it. Thanks.

To the beautiful shiny stars in the 'verse who have kept my future bright and kept me away from the darkness of despair - I truly love you :) I have realised something through the people of this site and that is you don't always have to say something to make someone feel better - all you have to do is listen, think of them from time to time and be there to pick up the pieces. I have always been under the impression that in order to help someone that you need to fill their void with words (sometimes just the same monotonous jargon used to for the last friend in need) but my perspectives have changed... nice words are, well nice but they are just a band-aid. What a real friend does is be there when it all falls apart, listen to their worries and smiling. I'm a smiler, always have been and always will... I guess what I'm trying to say is another HUGE thank you (though that really doesn't sum up my gratitude) to you all - for sticking it out, for being here for me and for teaching me a valuable lesson :) If any of you ever need a friend, know that you can call on me! Love Jessica x
