Serenity
Friday, 01 June 2007 07:39:29

September 2004 I left work one day because I was bored, or depressed, or angry I don’t remember what the reason was. I went downtown Seattle and decided to window shop. I stumbled from one street to another, and at the last moment decide to go see a movie. Something called “The Transporter” was playing, so I wandered into that movie and watched the coming attractions. There was something in that coming attractions about a show called Firefly, but they were more into talking about an up coming movie called Serenity. They showed a bunch of people walking around wearing cowboy like outfits, and it seemed to be kinda strange to me. They had all of these quick interviews with some of the crazed fans and I really didn’t pay it any mind. It looked kinda weird and reminded me of my Star trek days, and those fans looked and acted crazed about something! The movie transporter started and I promptly watched and then fell asleep. Still September 2004 I was pissed that sales were down and was kinda depressed so I went to downtown Seattle once again to window shop and maybe look at all the weird people. On a whim I went into a movie theater and got some popcorn and sat down. After the coming attractions the movie started… I never did end up eating the popcorn. After all that business with the opening, and the Operative, and just after he said…”Where are you hiding little girl” and then that logo of Serenity showed up with that combination of violins, cellos, bass and French horns while this strange looking ship was doing a reentry burn…I was hooked from that point on. After I left the movie theater feeling like I had missed something Major I went home and googled Serenity and kept getting back a name called Firefly. I googled Firefly and got a site that had every episode in Real Player format. I watched ONE episode and went out the next day I bought the whole what I thought was the 1st season. I watched it and rewatched it and was hungry for more. I went back to the video store and asked for Firefly 2nd season, and the clerk that heard that from me just stood there with a sad look in his eyes. I repeated my query and he just said that there was no 2nd season. I must admit that this was most likely the worst news I had ever heard in my life. I left that store feeling like a fool and also feeling like I had been cheated out of something. I still feel this way by the way. I don’t know why I decided to turn this into a blog, but what the hell. I’m drunk…again. -River

Super Hippie!
Friday, 01 June 2007 14:25:44

I fully intend to write something interesting and thought provoking here very soon, but for the moment I'm just gonna go with the sillies. Meet Super Hippie!

And the angst keeps coming..oh yeah and the smut!
Friday, 01 June 2007 18:09:32

Can you guys tell I really love writing The Wish? I really do, but this story in this series has got to end! The only problem is that it doesn't wanna! Why? Mainly, because it knows what's in store for the crew of Serenity in it's sequel, The Lucky Bullet. And The Lucky Bullet's breathing down my neck, chasing me down as hard as the devil's chasing Serenity. And I can't promise that Serenity and her crew's going to all come out unscathed or at all. Death, Birth, Injuries..it's really going to be a cluster frak of angst and oh yes, there will be smut. Buckle your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride, but hopefully one worth sticking around to view. JJ

I'm finished
Friday, 01 June 2007 18:29:15

yay, my exam is done I had to do 4 documentary commentaries. One was on Lenin's April Theses, one on the formation of the first coalition, one one July Days and one on the Kornilov Affair. The two exam questions I did were on the popularity of the Bolsheviks and was Lenin a visionary or an opportunist. I'm just glad it's over, now I can sleep. Also, I went to see POTC3 yesterday. It was ok. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush were excellent as was the monket but Orlando Bloom was terrible. Is it wrong to spend an entire film yelling 'die bitch' and 'will soimeone just please stb him?' to the screen. as my brother pointed out, he was so wooden the ship acted him off the screen. 10 Days of Peace
Friday, 01 June 2007 22:24:45

So, the in-laws have been in town for the past little while. It's not that I dislike them, it's that I can't really talk to them (they don't really speak English). So, going out with them is more an exercise of me staring off into space than anything else. Anyway, they and the wife have gone on a little trip for 10 days. I very much dislike being a tourist, so I'm here alone for that time. I got beer chilling in the fridge, just picked up some snacks, a couple movies I can watch later and some provisions to try some (simple) recipe ideas. All in all, I think I'm gonna have a nice relaxing next little while

My best friend and I just talked on the phone!! This is very exciting because she's been living in Egypt since the end of January. The last time I talked to her was just before she left, and the last time I saw her was the begining of January (she lives half an hour away, and we were busy studying and packing etc.). I miss her SO much!! She's coming back in 28 days...not that I'm counting... She needs to come back. My house has changed so much since she left, and she needs to meet my puppies. And of course, she needs to see me. She said that she misses me more than any of her otyher friends, it made me feel special, but I miss her that much too. I mean if I was away for that long, I'd miss her most as well. We've been friends since forever. Our moms were really good friends and everything. We've known eachother since we were born. I can't wait till June 30th!

Recipe Experiment 1
Saturday, 02 June 2007 23:34:29

So, the wife tends not to like me ordering out. Which in principle I agree with as it's expensive if done a lot. But, the problem is when trying new things, stuff can get burn or in general be punishment to eat. So, if that happens I order, typically with a little protest. Well, for the next little while she's not here so I can (at least) put off the complaining till later  So, experiments awaaaaaaaay  Anyway, I decided to post the successful experiments. The goals for these are low cleanup fallout, about 1/2 hour in kitchen max, simple and being healthy and tasty. Tough, but not impossible. My first experiment yesterday was successful. Used an ingredient in a non-typical way, but whatever. This one should feed two people. 1 loaf of Focaccia bread. I used Rosemary Foccaccia bread. 1 green pepper Classico Spicy Red Pepper pasta sauce Frozen MeatBalls (diameter about that of a quarter) *very* detailed instructions While the oven is heating: Cut bread in half then cut each half down down the horizontal. Yes, it's a big ass sandwich. Cut the green pepper as desired. Though I cut it in lengths and then those in half. Toss the this in a pan with some pasta sauce. Not too much as we're going to reduce it later and not want that to take forever. At this point the oven should be heated so put 16 of those meatballs in the oven. About 5 minutes before the meat balls are done put the pan on med-low heat. Once the meat balls are done, add them to the pan and continue to reduce the pasta sauce until it's not so liquidy. I actually use a spatula to cut the meatballs in half so that the meat can be more evenly distributed on the sandwich. Once that is done (obviously) put half on each sandwich. Now, although this is quite tasty, IMO salt & pepper to taste and there stands room for cheese on there as well. Havarti or Swiss would probably be good. To round out the meal, one could have a fruit cocktail as well. This can be bought in can form or fresh from the grocer. Or whatever fruity goodness that turns your fancy. The fallout is 1 pan, 1 baking sheet, 1 knife and 1 cutting board. That is, other than what it would be even if getting KFC. This could be clean in less than 10 minutes by hand. And given the time saved by not waiting in line at KFC (or where-ever) along with the out of the way travel time that's saved, things should about even out. Happy and healthy eating

My exams finished on Friday, which means uni is officially over, which means 4 months of FREEDOM!!! Fuck yeah. I can't believe that I've made it to the end of first year, especially after dropping out of Law after 6 months last year because it was so mind-numbingly BORING, but it feels great. It actually feels like I'm getting somewhere now, and that I've made it to the next stepping stone on the way to achieving something. It's really good! And I've been looking forward to these holidays for weeks now, because FINALLY, everything can start happening. My net friend of 6 years is coming up to visit for a week, I have my Serenity screening, all my old friends are coming home for the summer so I'll get to catch up with them, I'm hoping to get some work experience with the Edinburgh International Film Festival, I actually have time to get back to writing...YAY! I know no-one particularly cares, but I just thought I'd share the joy, and write a happy blog for once! :-)

Fanfic woes and Waitress
Sunday, 03 June 2007 20:21:44

Ever want so much to finish a chapter for a fic, but have it not come out? That's me for the past 2 weeks. Imagine the worst constipation you've ever had, and prolong it for 2 whole weeks...! And um, imagine it happened to your brain and not, like, your bowels - ANYWAY. Just in case anyone cared about my fic Dark Matter. The next chapters will be fanfic constipation. Heehawrr P.S. I saw "waitress" yesterday. It was really weird to see our captain in something not involving him being well, someone that handles a gun. But, it was very cute and I usually have no patience for romantic comedies. Then again, I may have only liked it because of the pies. I like pie.

13 to 15: Time Spent, If Not All Well
Monday, 04 June 2007 05:33:41

ALERT: SELF-CENTERED, SELF-INVOLVED, OVER-MUSED BLOG IN IMMEDIATE PROXIMITY. OPTION A IS TO ABANDON THE RIDE IMMEDIATELY, WHILE OPTION B IS TO KEEP YOUR HANDS AND FEET INSIDE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. MANAGEMENT ADVISES YOU SELECT OPTION A. Well now. Looks like I've reached some kind of milestone in my insignificant speck of a life (I'm speaking cosmically, so no worries 'bout that comment.). A while ago, I watched a TV show. This TV show entranced me, drew me in, and swallowed me forever. 'Forever' being since that dark January night. I think you can all figure what that TV show was called. But, that isn't exactly what I'm getting t'wards here. Now, when I joined up in the Browncoat ranks, I was a wee li'l bastard in the middle of his 8th year in jr. high, clocking in the years spent on this microcosmic marble at 13. Then, there came 14 few months later. More'n a few, actually. I considered changing me alias, but it t'was too much trouble. (I'm getting to the point soon, promise.) So, now my birthday is closing up, that special day. I'd say it's even more special because my birthday is the 15th, and I'll be turning 15, but I guess that has no meaning really. The date, not the day itself. What I'm aiming for in this blog is just to show how weird time is, how watery it is. Sometimes it can jam up until something comes along and shatters the dam, like a silt buildup upriver or something. Then, it flows free and raging, taking you down a river whose bends you don't see coming. I've seen some strange stuff in my short years, a result of my companion's and occasionally messed-up situations, had not one, but TWO incredibly scragged 'adventures' in Quebec, (the first one involving a drug-ridden hotel infested by me and my fellow students, the second involving me and a homeless guy with a bunch of damn dirty dogs) watched my brother collapse with appendicitis one morning last month, went to my grandfather's funeral two months ago, learned how to play the Grindhouse theme and adapt it with a touch cooler vibralto, and have finally done the Peppermint Twist, if you catch my drift, Jack. Sense? No. Fun? Sometimes. I'm looking back, chilluns, and I'm seeing the light at the beginning of the tunnel. That weird 'nuff for ya? 13raedan, #4 or So Hero

"Boston" by Augustana In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun... Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed, This world you must've crossed... you said... You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah, She said You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah, Essential yet appealed, carry all your thoughts across An open field, When flowers gaze at you... they're not the only ones who cry When they see you You said... You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah, She said You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah, She said I think I'll go to Boston... I think I'll start a new life, I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name, I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather, I think I'll get a lover and fly em out to Spain... I think I'll go to Boston, I think that I'm just tired I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind... I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset, I hear it's nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice... oh yeah, You don't know me, you don't even care... Boston... where no one knows my name... yeah Where no one knows my name... Where no one knows my name... Yeah Boston... Where no one knows my name.

Movin' off the Edge
Wednesday, 06 June 2007 14:14:51

Meant to post this a while ago, but then EVERYTHING STARTED HAPPENING AT ONCE. Anyhow, it's (long-since) official: I'm moving to Toronto. I've been accepted into Toronto Film School (will be working right out of the CBC building), have found an apartment (less than a block from Yonge St., 28th floor, beautiful building, right downtown, and less than $900 rent). Pictures here:

Life was never meant to be accepted
Wednesday, 06 June 2007 19:43:31

Karma shat on me. It rained, started to rain right as I started to walk home. It was a sprinkly rain that was more a piss off than anything substantial. And yes I like to walk in the rain, but only when I want to. Not when the clouds decide to make me walk in the rain! It's funny how easily walking in the rain makes my head explode with narrations. My subconcious like the clouds, finally pouring thought into my conciousness. I passed by a lake and watched as its' surface teared and pocketed as if under an artillery bombardment, while the surrounding trees and grass remained placid. It had an eerie effect. I jerked myself away from the scene continued on my way home, with some difficulities. I started to realize how often it seemed to rain on me, how often I was shat on. I briefly dwelled on the memory of camp in grade six, where it rained the entire time, where the main generator was knocked out and we were forced to live in a 'pioneer' camp without signing up for one (score!*not*) , where I was wasn't dry for three days (the whole trip), and where I learned that not only could I make myself believe my lies, but other people too. I was convincing, conniving even. A few facts and I was a mere civillian. I considered the opening of my life (the movie) and how'd I'd probably start it off with rain, but I had a hard time deciding which scene. Maybe it would be camp, sitting on the dark wooden porch, the rain beating down on the roof, and a large circle of the people in my class, all of us playing Mafia. The camp counciller would explain the rules, civillans, doctor, detective, mafia. Mafia killed, doctor saved, detective found out, and the civillians waited to be killed off one by one. I was a mafia, I convinced the civillians not to vote off the three other mafia, I convinced them that I was a detective, that I knew who the mafia was and that it was in fact not who they thought it was. The mafia won the game. I became faintly aware of the wetness my feet were experiencing. Crocks did nothing to keep the water out. I thought about Chicago in grade ten, of the bus breaking down, of the other bus catching fire, of sitting in the back room not dressed well enough for the occation, or the restaurants standards. I remembered the rain when I was young. The big rubber boots that barely lasted the season, my purple coat. It dawned on me that if my life was a movie a friendly neighbour would have driven by and offered me a ride ( a new pretty neighbour) and a wonderful equilibrium would be reached. My life has so far proved not to be a movie. Last night I watched The Sound of Animals Fighting Dvd. Needless to say it rocked my socks off. I was horribly jealous of the people in the audience who could watch them, touch them, HEAR them. Anthony Green was soooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooood.....by the way the new Circa album is fucking awesome. If only they came to Canada...and didn't skip Winterpeg. Speaking of which, does anyone else notice how horny everyone is? Is it the spring time? The promise of summer? All I know is that everything holds slightly more potenial than it used to. Certain things are just turning the crank more than ever. My life is compiled of streets and fields. Of walking in the rain in an endless strip. That's how I would start my movie. Walking home in the rain. I think it suits it. Lets you know up front Karma likes to shit on me. It was calming, the rain, depressing as well. I felt worried and relieved at the same time, I decided that the saying "that's the way the cookie crumbles" is the most apathetic saying the entire world. Only because it masks itself by sounding important and true, like it's encouraging you to move on with life and accept things the way they are. But if we start to do that whats left? We accept that there's no cure for cancer? That there really isn't anything we can do about AIDS? (Though I'm really not one to be arguing for aids....) We'll become as placid as the trees and watch the lake be beat on? The complainers would have nothing to say. It's like all we do is breed apathy and dro

here i've graduated from high school but in the process of my senior year i lost two of my class mates (one of them a friend). i have roller coaster emotions but fight to keep myself busy so that my thoughts do not stray and i begin to cry. my sister was right though, when she said that after turning 18 it's all down hill that's what i would have said before, but now i am moving on, living with the fact that matt and spenser are no longer here and plan to focus on college and my future career and climb my mountain, not fall down it.

What I Say as Opposed to What I Think #4,237,101: Back In Snark
Thursday, 07 June 2007 04:39:45

It's been so long since I've done one of these that I've forgotten how! PSYCHE!!! (as my girlfriend might say, and then wait for me to ridicule her for saying it.) Sometimes, I censor myself on a daily basis. If I didn't, I wouldn't have any friends! And the one's I did have would be pissed all the time. So, to get through the day, I keep it to myself. Here's the latest offering of what goes on inside my head in normal conversation. (At Work) Smith: I can't wait to see that new Die Hard. It should be out soon. WhipThin: The new one? Me: (No...they're going to rerelease Die Hard 2 every so often like it was a Disney movie. I can see the comparisons to it, and The Little Mermaid) Yeah...the new one. (At Home) Me: Why don't we make BLTs tomorrow? ThatWeirdGirl: Okay. Me: (Wait! That means I have to make them! Curse my inate mutant ability to produce bacony goodness with the first try everytime!) On second thought, maybe some tuna. (On The Town) ThatWeirdGirl: Do you like the sushi? Me: (Rice, crab, creamcheese. What's not to like? Oh...what's this? Seaweed? Let's try it.) Everything's really good! (Dear God! That last one was awful! I feel as though I've kissed Satan's butthole! Is there a law against spitting sushi in public? Hmmmm...the man with the large knife is waiting for my opinion.) I can't wait to try some more! (On The Phone) DaughterLikeMother: Hi Daddy! Me: I'm back, honey! I'm back from Iraq! DaughterLikeMother: I didn't really need to know that, Daddy. Me: (Riiiiight. I don't need to know that you need clothes or money or food. I'm just the damn paterfamilias! I'll get you for this, my pretty!) Well, I thought I'd tell you anyways. (Involving Electronics) Me: I can't get video to play in Windows Media Center. ThatWeirdGirl: I'll take a look at it. Me: (Sure. I couldn't fix it, so you should have no problems. I know what I'll be working on later.) Okay. (Later that night) ThatWeirdGirl: I fixed it! Me: (Son of a BITCH!) That's great, honey! There will be more to follow.

A De-Lurking Warm-Up
Thursday, 07 June 2007 13:38:32

Well, first off, a hearty Ni-Hao to all the shiny Browncoats holding the line here at FFF.net :) Been off-line for, well... longer than I like to think of. Well, I've HAD internet, but this whole 'being in a committed relationship' thing really cuts down on the time I spend at a keyboard, I've found. :disappointed: (Don't worry Kaylee, I still only have eyes for you :) Anyways, turns out I've been out of the loop since something like last September, so I thought it was high time to break the hiatus with a long-overdue (and most likely highly verbose) log entry. A little bit of a warm-up after a long slumber, so too speak. Can't really blame my girlfriend, though, for being out of touch, as she's just as much a 'Coat as I am, now. (We just had our one-year anniversary in April and she got me the Done the Impossible DVD and a real shiny Serenity poster :) And we've been doing what we can to convert the masses, as well. We got her brother hooked with the BDM recently when it came on one of the HD movie channels (which rocked!) And we've managed to hook quite a few more with the Firefly bug; hopefully they're all dutifully spreading the word as well, of course. So, I've missed out on quite alot of expressing my opinions on various things, so I'll just spew some out right here: Oh, so I hear that Dark Horse is going to be putting out Serenity Lunchboxes in the near future? Absolutely shiny idea, I wish I'd thought of it first. Oh... wait. I did :)

Wow......
Thursday, 07 June 2007 17:41:19

I'm the kind of person that holds things in until I explode. That happened today, a lot of stuff has been going on in my life, and I hold it all in. So I went to the library, and this poor librarian looked at me the wrong way and asked me "Is this your card?". So I snapped and cussed her out, told her "Oh hell no, you ain't going to be looking at me like you fucking crazy. I'll whup your ass!". Well, it turns out they've had a lot of problems with her, so I don't feel so bad. But still......

And so it begins.......
Thursday, 07 June 2007 17:42:24

I know that I've probably missed the boat, but I was reading on the Fox website (please throw nothing) and I see some of the pain that we had over Firefly played out again. This brings me to the conclusion that Fox truly doesn't know what people like. Okay so maybe I like Family Guy, American Dad and a few other shows. I guess that it makes me angry to think that people feel the same way about a show that we do and now they have to experience the same pain. How can the cycle continue. I often find myself thinking about the things that I am passionate about and wondering what other people are passionate about. Then when things don't work out for something, I wonder how those who adored it feel now. I know from experience that it's not fun. I've been a huge fan of Star Wars for years and lived with the notion that there would never be any more. Then there were more! I've lived with knowing that Firefly was gone and then there was Serenity. I've lived with Star Trek coming, going, coming again, going again and returning as a movie. So is the way of life. From my ramblings, I just want to say...."Here's to everyone who has a passion."

Well, there's nothing I can do!!!
Thursday, 07 June 2007 21:58:56

As soon as I even mention the car my parents set up for me, and the fact that they wasted $10,000 dollars to buy it and get it fixed up for me, and the fact that I'M not driving it, they shut down and shut me out! Your little brother needs it to go to school and go visit with friends they say. WHAT ABOUT ME, I spent TWO YEARS trying to get my license, only, for the first ten months I DIDN'T HAVE A CAR! What about what I need? I NEEED to get out of the house, I NEED my CAR, to get out of the house, I NEED EVERYTHING they handed over to my little brother that should have been MINE! I hate getting stepped on, but even more, I hate being IGNORED by my family! P.S. I'm getting REALLY frickin' sick of writing these kinds of blogs!

Just posted the fanfic that has been on the back burner. I've been moving :crap: and cleaning up. We're getting smart and having someone else (hay)mow the lawn for the first time this year. Our mower is not working or there. Sigh. Anybody want to buy a house? Dad and aunt on the same floor at the hospital today. They have matching new hips! Life is weird sometimes.

Cream Puff
Friday, 08 June 2007 18:22:19

I was sitting at my desk feeling a bit chilly from the air conditioning so I decided to walk down the street and get a cream puff for lunch. I walked outside and as the warm air hit me I thought "today is a great day, sun is shining, it's starting to warm up and it's Friday, yep life is good". I walk to the Best Buns and get my cream puff and sweet boule and head back to my office. As I'm walking, the sun is beating down on my and now I'm thinking "Damn it's hot outside, when's it going to cool down". So strange the way my feelings changed in a span of 5 minutes.

I took a hiatus from all things fandom for a while... I'm in my last quarter of college, and in one week I'll graduate! I'm trying to get back to my favorite fandom of all time now that I'm not so busy.

MY SURVIVAL SERIES EXPLAINED...SOMEWHAT, NOT REALY
Friday, 08 June 2007 21:05:49

I have recently started posting a story that I started writing about a year and a half ago, but never finished. First I would really like to thank Jane0904 and BlueEyedBrigadier for all the advice and coments. I feel like I owe everone who read my survival series a bit of an explanation, well, more than a bit. First, I know I have neglected MAl, part of that is that he in probably the most important character in the series. Think about it, who almost throws Jayne out the airlock, who shoots Dobson, who is in every single flashback in out of gas, unless out of gas has flashbacks to simons childhood. That sounds like a contradiction, but I could not live with my self if I messed up mal any more than Simon could live with himself if he let anything hapen to River and Kaylee. Also, the allpowerfull, straightshooting, Steve Roberts (names borrowed form my uncle Steve and the princess bride, possible the greatest book/movie ever). He was a mistake, I shouldn't have made him such a good person. He was suposed to be a blend of Jayne and Wash, with alitle bit of Simon thrown in for good measure. So, for the purposes of character development, I will come up with a reason, Steve is good at reading people, and even better at cons. I have to cut this short for now, but I will throw out one more tidbit of info, even though over 90% of the people that have tried reading this probably hated this. Steve isn't what he seems to be, and the sherade will not last forever.

So my $700 replica gun came
Friday, 08 June 2007 21:33:00

I am not going to post pics right now, instead I am going to post a rant. I received my $709.50 purchase today. Straight from Sidkits in Italy. Out of a limited run of 50. Lets start from the top. Wrong number of the limited series sent (we agreed on one he sent a different, though I must admit it was the first number we discussed). Gun came in two parts, front half was damaged at the joint, it appears to have BROKEN in the past and been machine fixed. Makes me wonder if I can snap it open, it may just snap again. Cylinder is mis-shapen at some points during its rotation its flush against the hammer side of the gun, other points the gap nears a half inch, I cannot believe how shoddy that is at $709.50 It came missing parts! That's right on top of everything else, it came missing pieces. The bullets did not come with it. So all in all I spent weeks agonizing over saving, days tormenting myself over spending so much, weeks waiting in torment for it to arrive, and in the end it goes back tomorrow for a full refund, except that I have to pay to have it shipped back to Italy! Goramm Piece of Luh Suh! Captain Caille Jensen Not so Shiny!

The Beach!
Saturday, 09 June 2007 09:49:36

Today I am going to the beach! Before anyone get's excited, it's Newcastle's beach. Think cold and dirty. The weather is failing to impress me so far. Oh how I love being British. In other news, I have one week left before I move out of this flat. One more week in student accomodation. It's very sad. Half of my flat mates have moved out and another is going today. Even though I'll be living with most of them again next year, it's still sucky. Especially since I have no friends at home, where I'm gonna be spending the next 3 months. Enough rambling, this is getting to be a depressing post. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

FREE BROWNCOAT (my old one)
Saturday, 09 June 2007 18:53:18

You can check my profile for pics of it, or one of the recent pic threads... In short, I just picked up -- from the same thrift store as my previous Browncoat purchase -- another, Aussie-styled tannish Browncoat. Gotta see if I can darken it to a more Brownish color. The Free one is approx. 42 reg. & reaches to just above the knee on me (5'11")... Fits medium to large. Caveats and addendums: One laser burn in the bottom hemline from some hundahn on a hovercraft awhile back. Gave him the shiny side of my pistol for that and other offenses. Also got a tear near the armpit from some guy named Crow and his collection of happy knives. Saw him inspect an engine once -- and I mean only once, cuz the thing happened to be running at the time. oh well. Anyway, in short, if there's somebody out there wants a Browncoat with a few miles on it, send me your mailing address -- first one in the continental U.S. gets it shipped free. Otherwise, you pay for shipping, dong ma? I believe that big-heartedness is what should define a true Browncoat, so I wouldn't be much of one if I didn't try to be & do likewise. Stay Shiny & Keep Flyin'. -- Jonathan P.S. It dry cleans nice so don't mind the wrinkles in the pics.

Advice wanted on my survival series
Saturday, 09 June 2007 20:54:27

I have decided that my Survival series could use some veiwer input. I have a general plan of how I want things to turn out, but presenting it is getting kind of tricky:banghead:. You could say I get the what, but not the how. I mainly just need some help deciding what the next chapter is going to focus on. My options are; 1) Continue with the plot, throw some action in, ya know, some sort of combat situation. 2) Give more backround on my origanal character Steve Roberts. I would probably do this somewhat similar to chapter the chapter called Good Times. Mainly going through what the characters think and know about my OC. I would probably focus on Kaylee, Book, Inara, and possibly Jayne or Zoe. I left out Simon and Mal becouse I've already given a bit of insight from Mal's perspective, and I've already established, albeit poorly and with very little detail, Simon's friendship with Steve. River was left out of this list becouse, being a reader, she would be able to spill the beans on Steve's backstory, which I'm saving for the last chapter. 3) I am willing to take any sugestions any body will give me Once again, thanks to BEB and Jane0904 for the previous input. Also, some input on what elements of the series you liked might help a bit. I noticed not many people found Simons early escapades into the woods believable, so, unless someone likes that kind of humor, this highschool student will get back to the more serious issues, like Mal as a teenager, which is actualy my next plan after, or mabey during, this story Thanks

Well i'm still flying though it's been a while
Sunday, 10 June 2007 14:36:17

Well my fellow browncoats it has been a long spell since my last post and i have had quite a few travels and troubles and kindnesses since i was last by. Lets see first to the travels I got my licence and loaded up my car with a crew of two a navigator my mate Sutton and a loader Wellings. We headed out first to see an old friend (though i have to admit at times it's like dealing with Patience "Hmmm i do believe she's planning to shoot me). However this leg of the journey went quite well. The we all set off towards my sister just an hour and ahalf out from Surfers Paradise and stayed around a few days then we travelled to Surfers Paradise and i hid out at my friend Lopez's house for two days. This was the part of the trip which took the most coin from me. Drinking, shooting, laughing and clubs of moderate repute. Then i dragged my sorry somewhat broke self back down the coast toward home. Stayed a night in a hotel that looked like Ned Kelly probably robbed at some point. Great trip and Lopez sent me a wave saying i should drop back in later this year and spend some more money not exactly a hard task these days. Then there was a slight break of two days in which i sat a test to get into university. Then i took off to Bali and spent two weeks hanging out on the beach watching sun sets and getting massages and eating fruit on the beach. Oh it's a hard life aint it just. then i came back home and found i had been accepted into University studying a double degree in teaching. With hopes of being a history teacher. On the Artistic front I wrote the first couple of chapters for a fantasy book 'The Chronicles of Azuriath'. Also i have completed on chapter and got into the second chapter of my big Firefly fan novel i'll even give you the current title i'm working it under Firefly: Shadows of the War. Probably shouldn't be teasing it as it is realistically a long ways off yet getting either of them published. However a big push will come soon as one of my electives at uni is creative writing. Next being the jack of all trades (master of none) i also started working on my old comics [IMG]

Writing Letters...
Sunday, 10 June 2007 19:51:31

So, first up, I'm really glad everyone seemed to like the "Lost Art" series...it took a long time to get bits right and I was making little adjustments as I went, based on some of your suggestions. Thanks! Now, here are some answers to a few of the questions... Would Jayne have that many spelling/grammar errors in his letter to his Ma? Yes. Did you miss how he struggled over words when reading her letter out loud in "The Message?" And, on top of that, I can always defend it with "You Would Not Believe The Spelling & Grammar Errors I Come Across In My Regular 9-To-5 Job, And If They Can Do THAT, Jayne Would Do His." Next, I didn't technically give Inara a sister. I mean, I sorta did, by signing it "Your loving sister," but at the same time, I think the Companions could easily refer to each other as "sisters," like sororities or geishas...I refer to several of my female friends as my "other sisters," and I do have a biological sister. There are times in women's lives where they feel a sisterhood worthy of note. But, if you want to take it as Inara has a sister, then...um...sure. I gave her a sister. Finally, though, just thanks to everyone who read and responded. I try to write things people get excited to read and...yay! It worked this time!!! The whole concept only started because I was in the midst of writing a letter (yes, a real-live-letter, written on paper with a pen and EVERYTHING!!) to my brother and got distracted, then remembered BlueEyedBrigadier wondered what happened when Simon wrote to his folks, as Kaylee suggested at the end of my previous series, and then wondered what a stranger would think if he/she found one of my random letters by itself and...so, then I had River's letter and Inara's off-hand comment about snakes...and suddenly I was sitting in front of my computer typing out bits and pieces and... Well, you know the rest. And, yes, I did finish the letter to my brother and actually spent $.39 (US) to mail it JUST BEFORE the price of stamps went up...again... So...yeah. Thanks again for reading. I'll try to keep up to the expectations, at least. I write for you...and to ease the story build-up in my head.

It's Hard Out Here for a BrownCoat
Sunday, 10 June 2007 21:22:51

We need to make that song, maybe we'll win an Oscar. Um, anyway, I was thinking that I need to make something new to put up for my Blue Sun stuff. But I'm going to China at the end of the month, I'm designing a website (www.tailiinlala.com), and I'm trying to brush up on the language. That got me to thinking about what a heavy load we Browncoats have to take up. Just being a true fan requires you to post on at least three different message boards everyday. And if not everyday, at least every other day. This website, the one over at scifi, and the one at Universal. Not to mention the new one for that HD channel. Next, you've got any fan videos you've got, shindigs, Can't Stop the Serenity viewings, other random cons where stuff is going down, and keeping up with your life in general. Then following that, you've got to watch Serenity every couple of weeks, and random episodes in between, you know, just to keep it fresh. And I could watch Objects in Space 100 times and keep finding new stuff. So, basically, what you're dealing with is a complete dedication to the craft. Don't get me wrong, I love being a Browncoat, and while I took a short hiatus, I'm definitely dedicated to the cause. Speaking of which, it's another whole kettle of fish because our show is currently off the air, we have to keep it alive through our willpower alone. There are no new episodes for us to talk about, no new happenings. Then our souls are crushed mercilessly by execs who simply will not heed our cries for A)Mercy or B)The sweet, sweet release of death. Okay, that last part was a little overboard. But I guess the point that I'm trying to make is, it's hard out here for a Browncoat.

How do you put those URL's from othe sites on your posts?
Sunday, 10 June 2007 21:58:39

I have tried various approaches to placeing the links to other web sites in my threads with no success. Would somebody give me a detailed description, possibly with graphic displays, of the proper procedures to create these links. Thanks in Advance; Your computer illiterate poster. Traveler

Word is the program of the devil
Monday, 11 June 2007 01:23:58

(this is a rant, ye've been warned) ok, so i'm printing out my newly-edited Crime and punishment essay, it comes off the printer all nice and sparkly.... and theres a page number on the first page, which should be there. ...odder still, that number is a big 'ol "2". ?? so i go into the headers (which i HATE, because it is so badly designed, and every essay i eventually get it to do what i want through a different set of buttons and curses) and go ahead and check the box that says 'different first page' to get my name off the top corner because, hey, its the first page, my name's already there. i also delete the page number. back in the document, i look at the page number in the bottom bar, and low and behold, page 1 is labled page 2. oh, but it gets better- i scroll down, what do i see? ok, so the second page is labled page 3, thats to be expected- but then on the third page, we seem to have another page 2. hmm. followed by another page 3, then finally, on the fifth actuall page, we have page 4. why? no no, nonno, i mean, W H Y ? so i figure, screw the numbers, i'll put them in by hand- now i just have to fix the name. easy enough, right? i go to the 1st (actual) page, in the header select 'different first page' and then go ahead and delete my name. ok, its good- my name is not on the first page, but it is on all the others....... ...except the middle one, page 3 (which the computer is refering to as page 2). can i get anotehr why? finally, i just closed the whole document, praying for once that i HADN'T saved recently; when i reopened it was still calling page one page 2, and page five page 4, but the name thing seemed to have resolved itself. bill gates, this is for you :finger:

Chinese Char. Checks (as in non-cash-y $$$)
Monday, 11 June 2007 03:12:31

Had to reorder my checks, so I was perusin' the examples [at www.ClarkeAmerican.com] and came across ones titled "Eastern Expressions"... Was hoping to find maybe the character for "Serenity" but nada. Some nice characters, tho. Including the character for Qi/Ch'i. Plus the info lines have Chinese characters for "Pay to the order of" etc. Shiny.

FYI: "Firefly" $19.95 at Target AGAIN.

Must be some browncoats in the Product ordering division or else it just sells out everytime. Whatever works. Time to stock up if you haven't.

When The Levees Broke
Monday, 11 June 2007 08:02:52

I just got done watching this amazing film. It's a documentary done by Spike Lee for HBO called "When The Levees Broke: A Requiem In Four Acts". As you can probably guess it's about hurricane Katrina and New Oreleans, and it was SO powerful. I mean, there were times I was mad as hell, then there were times I just broke down in tears. It just affects you so much to see that we are the wealthiest country in the world, yet we let our people suffer like that for FIVE DAYS. It just goes to show you how truly inept our government is. There's so much I could talk about here, but instead, I'm going to urge everyone to see this movie. I got it from my local library, so you might be able to find it at yours.

Hi there,

I'm paying for gas, shouldn't I get to drive!!
Monday, 11 June 2007 19:03:41

That's right! I'm using the money I collected to pay for "The Chosen collection," to pay, to put gas in the car that my brother is driving! He hasn't done a damn thing since he's had his license except waste gas driving to school! Why can't I be the one to drive to school, if he's not going to pay! How is making me pay for gas, in a car I DON'T drive FAIR!

not enough 'Kaylee' ...
Monday, 11 June 2007 19:10:28

theres just not enough of Jewel Staite around ... pre-production on this Tribe movie - whens it come out - we need more Jewel !!! the sooner the better

Back... Just in time too.
Monday, 11 June 2007 20:18:46

Sorry I haven't been to the site in a while... got a good reason though, was able to convince people to become Browncoats. I moved to Ohio in the fall, where little did I know that Ohio has got a big Browncoat population, something like 14% have taken a liking to the Serenityverse. I also joined Crew, so I've had little time to be on the web. (Side not: next year a new boat will be named Serenity) So Summer just began and now I can get back home see all my CA buddies, and see Serenity in Pasadena at Serenity Day! It's good to be back.

Maybe life is getting better...
Tuesday, 12 June 2007 01:09:49

Well, I dunno. On Sunday, my Internet connection conked out, so I had to go at it on the school connection, which doesn't support Youtube :disapointed:. Meh. I know that you all missed me just SO. But, in better news, I apparently will be able to save two hundred dollars over the summer (Read, my Mom, who pays for the Karate) by doing cheap labor that Kristen is too lazy to do. Meh. Life's better... but it still ain't no party ! -Danny

Saturday Night Fever
Tuesday, 12 June 2007 06:35:27

Saturday May 5th: There were plans to go to a dance at 9PM. The dance had "Though the Looking Glass" as a theme. Peter was up around 10 but I didn't get up till 1:30. We still had to get our costumes together. He had already decided to do a military costume made from his old Neo coat. I cut & hemmed his coat and started pulling things out of the closet to figure out what I was going to dress as. Peter suggest I wear my old Duelist Anthy military-esque costume I made a couple years ago because he was basing his costume off that one anyways. After some finagling he decides "HOLY FRAK" we should be the Queen of Heart's Royal Guards. I heartily agreed and ran off to the fabric store at 6PM to pick up some red satin. I return and got to sewing. Peter printed the patches and we pulled old hats and belts from the closet. It was the best closet cosplay ever. While we were there the Queen called us sexy and had ordered us come on stage to dance. Everyone cheered :D We've decided we liked these so much we have got to take them to Dragoncon for more fun. Pictures! For the good of all Wonderland.

Downsized
Tuesday, 12 June 2007 13:24:32

For several months, I have posted that I was "working" about 20 hours a week in my job that is supposed to be 40 hours a week. Well, the hammer dropped yesterday and I was downsized. Laid off. The furniture company simply couldn't support 2 full time office workers. There is only enough work for one, and I didn't have the seniority. People in DC just aren't buying the hyper expensive furniture they once were. I am thankful that my boss clearly spelled out that it had nothing to do with my performance. He has always been pleased with my dedication to his company. He will be giving me a glowing letter of rec, and other managers were equally flattering. I am also grateful he waited to let me go until Kevin got a job. The next 72 hours will find me scurrying to find a new position. We can't afford for me to be out of work for very long. My 2 weeks' severance pay won't last very long, especially as we were on the edge due to Kevin's unemployment. Please keep me in your thoughts as I struggle to find a job in this tough market, against the flood of college students looking for jobs as well. *hugs* to my Browncoat family.

Welcome Cassidy!

Copper pipe and duct tape save my computer chair
Wednesday, 13 June 2007 02:33:25

A while ago my I didn't like how stiff my computer chair was with how it leaned back. So, I tried to loosen it. Unfortunately, I loosened it too much. The chair leaned back for certain. But, way too much. And when I tried to tighten it... it didn't work. I tried pushing things in, etc and nothing. So, for the longest time, if I sat in the chair normally, I was at about a 45 degree angle. Hardly the best position for working at my computer. Enter the copper pipe and duct tape. Of course for something to lean back it has to pivot on something. And there was enough room there to shove something in there. Say a copper pipe. But, that pipe needs to be held in place to make sure that I don't have a scary fall back at some point. Say by duct tape. So, now there's very little play in the leaning of my chair. Which is fine b/c my posture pretty much needs it. Now, if I only find something to put on the arms so there's some padding on them...

Third Times a Charm?
Wednesday, 13 June 2007 03:29:33

After finally feeling better about myself and actually liking myself for a change. I have worked so hard this past few quarter to pull my grades up, and after Ohio State had denied me admittance for the second time because my GPA was three-hundredths of a point off (yes, still bitter about that). I have applied again. This time I am hoping...(but at the same time, not getting my hopes up too high) to make it in. I've been reading and writing and still looking for a job...but enjoying summer. Finally! I needed the break, I was attending school for two years straight with only a Christmas break. I'm tired of it. Let's see what happens. Maybe i'll write about it...

Back for Good
Thursday, 14 June 2007 11:09:27

Against all of you guys hoping *snickers* I'm back. Turns out that my brother-in-law is all the way fine and in fact will not die any time soon. Unless he does something stupid like - testing whether it's the truck or him to be stronger. Other than that I can safely claim for myself to have gotten much better and am in a much shinier mood than I have been. Also I've successfully spread the word some more. *pats own shoulder* Go me.

Thursday
Friday, 15 June 2007 11:33:07

Hi there, Yesterday was fun. Our friend Al is up for the weekend so we all decided to go out. Firstly me, John and Andrew had to go back to our old colege because I needed a second reference for my CV. It was good to go back again. I saw most of my techers, my History teacher Jon, my English Lit teacher Martin and my tutor Barbara. They all agreed that Andrew hadn't changed one bit in the three years since we left. And I got my reference. Then we had food in the King John's Tavern. There was an instance where Andrew said he wanted to lick Alan's appendage which had us in hysterics but being as naive as he is, Andrew didn't get what we were laughing at. Then we went to the Irish bar. They have a digital jukebox with some pretty good songs. We picked: Run to the Hills, Comfortably Numb, Hold the Line, the Logical Song, Helter Skelter, Fool for your Lovin', Money, I Feel Free, Biko, Travelling in Style and Roll Over Beethoven. Andrew said I might have converted him to Chuck Berry. Oh and I have a video on my phone with John and I dancing like crazy people to a song I can't remember (at least it wasn't Barbie Girl 'cos someone picked that). I want to upload it and I probably will someday. It's quite funny. And I have another one of John miming to Mariah Carey. Then we went to the Brewer. I've never really liked that pub, the music was always too loud and the toilet are disgusting. Anyway, it's changed a lot in three years. Thursday Nights used to be alternative night and now it's karioke. Quite a dramatic change. TTFN Jennifer -x-

Conversion and Quotes
Friday, 15 June 2007 17:22:10

I've pretty much forced several people at work to watch Firefly so they now get all my quotes:) I already had one browncoat co-worker and we're always laughing and quoting which got others interested. It was great yesterday on the field trip when the kids were running around and I said " ah the pitter patter of tiny feet...in huge combat boots " and 5 people busted up laughing. Soon I shall convert the whole school:)

possible NC-17 change-- The Last Firefly: Chapter 3
Saturday, 16 June 2007 00:21:38

**I can't believe how motivated I am to write lately... It's shocking!!** :naughty: The Last Firefly: Chapter 3... I'm really hesitant about posting this chapter due to a 'special' scene. Let's just say it might have to be posted under NC-17... I don't want to lose readers because of it (sorry, it's not sex)... Well, I guess some things can't be helped. :crap: So if you readers happen to stumble upon this note, it's more of a heads up for what's about to come. It's happy at the beginning but it gets sad really fast. UPDATE: Okay. After reading some of the more NC-17 fanfics out there, I decided to let this chap fly and will stick with PG-13... Unless I get in trouble... UPDATE 2: I decided to say "To hell with waiting to release the chapter!" So I released it today. Yay~ Three updates in 2 days! Also, I learned how the whole fanfic post deal works. I'm proud of meself!!! Yes, "meself." :briggen:

No Country for Old Men trailer
Saturday, 16 June 2007 02:46:30

Hey All Two weekends ago, I finally saw KNOCKED UP. It was the one summer movie (next to LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD) that I was eager to see, and it was so worth it. When it comes to the cheap theater in Regina, I'll probably SERENITY it (that is see it as many times in one day as I can). The thing that sucks though about something like that is that once you see the movie you're dying to see and it pays off, you don't have anything else to look forward too for a while. Well, that's all changed now. I recently listened to the audiobook for THE ROAD and I've recently discovered Cormac McCarthy. And I had heard that the Coen Bros. were going to adapt NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN as their next movie. So I was really curious about what they were going to do. Well, the first trailer for it is officially out, and I gotta say that this is the one film coming out in the fall I'm now dying to see. After the disappointment of THE LADYKILLERS, this is going to put the Coens back on top. This is BLOOD SIMPLE territory they're in now. Javier Bardem does indeed look like the ultimate badass and possibly the next great movie villain, I loved that "bubonic plague" comment by Woody Harrelson and the composition, color scheme and editing of the trailer seems reminiscent of both the Coens at their peak and McCarthy's prose visualized.

How do you write?
Saturday, 16 June 2007 08:42:04

I want to know how other people write. Whether you have the entire story mapped out, either in your head or on paper, before you even begin, or whether you have a vague idea of A to Z, and then fill in the rest as you go. And do you have the whole story written before you upload, or do comments influence you into changing things? For myself, I tend to fall into the latter two categories. I always have a number of stories waiting, even if it’s only a paragraph or two, or half a page of dialogue, or (in one instance coming up a little way down the line) the entire second half! But I upload as I write, usually only a chapter or two ahead. You may have noticed I do take note of comments – sometimes they make me think again about my work, see things I hadn’t noticed – and a lot of the time they give me plot bunnies for later stories (BEB, there’s one coming up you inspired!), but so much of my writing changes as I write. For instance, one of the characters in my current arc THE BEQUEST was mentioned in passing, with a name. It was going to be a man, but when I chose the name it occurred to me that it would be good as a woman. So that’s what I made her. Then, after I’d uploaded that chapter, the idea came to me that if I made her like this, then she could be part of that, and then … the whole thing began to flow and change, and although the essential story remains the same, the characters took over. Actually, does anyone else find that? The canon characters, hopefully, stay true, but they seem to go out and bring their friends in, people you find yourself writing but don’t know how? Or is it just me waiting for the guy with the cute white jacket that does up at the back?

Prom!

Ok, so prom was last night.... o it was amazing, truly and utterly awesome. loads of people said they thought my dress was gorgeous, and I got loads of lovely dancing in ;) Best thing though: I spent almost the entire night with this really lovely, sweet guy, who insisted on buying my drinks and asked for my number at the end of the night. Why the hell did I not get to know him before the last night of school I have no idea, cos we have so much in common, and we just seemed to click. He is really great. I would have got to spend more time with him, cept we were going to separate after prom parties, and though he tried, he couldn't get a lift to the one I was at at 2 in the morning. Luckily for me, a friend of mine is having a rather belated after-prom next saturday, and he should hopefully be there... fingers crossed... So I am absolutely shattered, after about two hours sleep on the floor at the party, sharing a sleeping bag with two other people, but it is totally worth it, it was one of the best nights ever.

MWAHAHAH!
Saturday, 16 June 2007 22:38:02

Yes, finally!! I have released the chapter that has been burning a hole in the back of my head. Yay for "Chapter 04: I am sin." *hold up a lemon-lime gatorade for a geeky cheers* I love this chapter sooo much. Not sure why, probably because I am more sadistic than I thought I was before. I'm buzzed on gatorade and imagination. What two incredible combinations. :naughty: Now I may relax as I diligently yet calmly write up the next chapter. The true reason for the story being horror is still to come next, along with an explanation for the title.Ohh! Gets me all giddy inside. Stay shiny peoples! I'm heading back to writing~

The End
Sunday, 17 June 2007 16:30:40

:crap: For those of you who didn't already see it coming, I'm afraid I won't be continuing Blue Moon any longer. Over the last few episodes, it's just gotten harder and harder to write, to the point where it's no longer fun. If I try to write it like that, the quality of the resulting work wouldn't be fair to you readers, so it's best if I just stop. I had many more stories to tell, but it just doesn't look like I'll be able to tell them anymore, at least not at the level I'd require of myself. I'd like to thank everyone who enjoyed Blue Moon and apologize for cutting it off so early in the series, but then, the good die young; just ask Firefly itself.

Back from euphoria and the arctic
Sunday, 17 June 2007 20:39:01

Finished my masters degree... finally. Got a B too.. hence the euphoria (cause I didn't really think it went that well.. who knew I was that smart  )Then I went to visit my mother who lives on Svalbard. I have never been that far north before (78* north). No trees, midnight sun, reindeer, seals, cheap alcohol and tobacco, expensive plane ticket. I think I drank more alcohol during those five days than I have all year (I don't drink much..) Strange place Svalbard. I had a good time.(I might post some pictures later) Now I'm back... broke.. kinda hungry and with a lingering panic about the future. At least its summer. Outtakes and stuff
Monday, 18 June 2007 02:14:33

Not really, just outtakes. My high school project, "Beowulf vs Grendel" now has an outtakes video on YouTube.

BDH experiances...
Monday, 18 June 2007 05:04:18

I've never been lucky enough to have an experiance meeting one of the BDH. And still I love reading other's stories on meeting them. Maybe one day I'll have one myself.

See ya' Saturday
Monday, 18 June 2007 10:26:52

Where IS Jayne when ya need 'im!
Monday, 18 June 2007 19:21:29

My parents blatently give my little brother complete access to the "modified" car, and instead of practice in the car, I get DVD's (Ninja Turtles Trilogy) to keep me from complaining about NOT getting to use the car! THIS :censored: SUCKS!!! As soon as I get a steady job, and enough money to buy/rent an apartment, I am taking the car, and, NEVER COMING BACK!!! Also, the Title will SOON be in MY name!

A Guide to valeriebean's BSR Items
Monday, 18 June 2007 21:41:11

So I was looking at ALL my BSR items, and since the post method is linear, it gets terribly confusing and all to find a place to start. So I made a neat little guide:

And the stories keep coming...
Monday, 18 June 2007 22:22:14

I never realized how attached I was to certain characters until I started writing them in fan fiction. Just when I'm ready to end my stories eight more crop up, so don't worry about me stopping them anytime soon. The most difficult part of the story I'm working on is getting to the place where I let a certain character go. Several characters are in imminent harm, but there's big changes coming up for the crew of Serenity in the sequel to The Wish called Follow You Into the Dark. I'm both humbled and amazed that people even liked the first two stories. I'm pretty much my own worst critic. I can't even read the stories back after I posted them LOL. So I feel a great deal of amazement when someone writes that they enjoy it. So thanks! Look out tomorrow for Chapter 1 of Follow You Into the Dark. Dark it is.

Old Song, New Firefly Relevance
Tuesday, 19 June 2007 07:05:35

So there are times when I'm listening to music on my ipod and a song comes up that I'd forgotten even existed (there are also times when songs come up that I have no idea where the Hell they came from, but that's beside the point). Anyway, just now I was listening to music before going to sleep, and the song "Sweet Surrender" by Sarah MacLachlan came on. I hadn't heard that song since I was in junior high (a good 9 years or so ago). How it ended up in my itunes I can't recall, cuz I certainly didn't have a computer at the time. But my point is this: I was suddenly struck by how the lyrics are SO Firefly-appropriate, specifically for Mal, and his relationship with Inara. Check it out: It doesn't mean much it doesn't mean anything at all the life I've left behind me is a cold room I've crossed the last line from where I can't return where every step I took in faith betrayed me and led me from my home And sweet surrender is all that I have to give You take me in no questions asked you strip away the ugliness that surrounds me who are you? are you an angel? am I already that gone? I only hope that I won't disappoint you when I'm down here on my knees who are you? And sweet surrender is all that I have to give who are you? sweet surrender is all that I have to give And I don't understand by the touch of your hand I would be the one to fall I miss the little things I miss everything *about you* It doesn't mean much it doesn't mean anything at all the life I left behind me is a cold room who are you? And sweet surrender is all that I have to give

Again with the "Hmmmmm"
Tuesday, 19 June 2007 07:06:28

Sorry about the delay guys! I've had some upheavals recently in my life, forcing me to put aside my writting. First I lost my job, then my car and then ended up sick. But everything is better now. I have a new job (just a stop gap...it isn't the best job ever) I have a new car and I'm not sick no more! Yay! So anyway, as a present I give you an expectations and an Eve. No possibilities at present though...sorry! Hope you like, and thanks for your patience, and your comments, you guys rock! MerryWyn Merry when I want to be!

What the @#$!@#$$ is going on with the formatting?

Blue Sun room is giving a big :finger: to the formatting of my story so I'm going to post it on my live journal:

BackStories on short term hold...
Wednesday, 20 June 2007 16:19:02

Hey all. My parents are in town and I'm working on my house (we're talking framing walls here. Crazy, crazy stuff!) which means I've had no time to finish the last chapter of Book I. With any luck, I'll have chance later this week, and I'll post it this weekend or early next week. As a reply to the comment on chapter 13 - there are 2 more books to this fic. Oh yeah - I'm just getting started! There will be a break before I start posting Book 2. Kind of need to finish writing it...

Happy Birthday!!
Wednesday, 20 June 2007 19:53:38

It's my best friend, Bethany's birthday today! Which is a little depressing, because she's still away in Egypt. :( but Oh well! I e-mailed her yesterday at 8, and said Happy Birthday, because Egypt is 7 hours ahead of me, and so technically it WAS her birthday when I e-mailed her. lol :P She's coming home in 10 days!!! I CAN'T WAIT! I'm spending Canada day with her, she lives half an hour away from me, so I'm gonna sleep over and go to the beach across the road from her house and everything. yay!

Well. Here I am.
Wednesday, 20 June 2007 22:16:41

So, I'm back online, finally. I was hoping to have everything set up by Friday, but I underestimated the idiocy of Rogers. Tried to get them to bundle my internet, phone, and cable, and I ended up with: -working internet. -digital cable that won't record (unless I buy another ~$30 piece of technology and rewire my system) -a vonage telephone adaptor that (A) couldn't interface with my computer, (B) required ~$100 of router, cable, extension cord, and adaptor, (C) wouldn't work once I got everything hooked up, because the unit is designed for US use only, and (D) cannot be returned because my mom paid with her credit card, and she (and it) are halfway across the province now. At this point, I'm still waiting for Bell's service to kick in (more expensive, but it ACTUALLY WORKS), and I'm gonna be stuck with my mostly-useless cable for a month or two until my finances recover from the raping they've taken. Then I'm going to cancel the digital service (unbundling everything and raising the price of my internet), and sign up with someone who offers regular, ordinary cable service, through the little wire that comes through my wall. No digital signal box, no multi-function remote, no video-on-demand, no pay-per-vue presets, no internet accessibility --I just want to be able to turn on the TV and watch cartoons. I don't want to buy an entirely new suite of technology that offers me exciting new features that I don't need and/or can already do with other stuff. Aside from that, everything's mostly unpacked. I really think I'm gonna love Toronto (aside from the technological issues). Pictures when I get them off my camera.

Save my BDK (Big Damn Kittens)
Thursday, 21 June 2007 01:02:13

Anyone in the Inland Empire / L.A. area lookin' to be a Bid Damn Hero & give a good home to some kittens? I got me 4 kittens about 8-9 weeks old, 3 black males [Fanty, Mingo & Jayne], 1 mottled female [YoSaffBrig] that I gotta find some nice homes for. Some hun dan abandoned them about 3 weeks ago on the mosque property where I'm presently staying, but my abode is scheduled for demolition come mid-July. Will try to take one with me when I relocate (hopefully) but want to find good homes for as many as I can. Email me or msg me at my profile if you can help.

It ain't over...

..Till i write the FINAL CHAPTER Responding to the accusation that Scorpion is a Mary-sue. The story ain't over yet.Not by a long shot. She has some mary-sue like qualities but... *Spoiler* I control the story. And all story up to now was revealed to be red herrings. You know what that is? Google it. I am glad to have three or four readers. Zero-Joe-Darkfy and Alun are my heroes.I am glad to have a beta-Alun you rock. But I notice more people getting responses then i am. Is it frustrating? YES. Is it frustrating that people hate the story? YES. Will it discourage me from writing more? No. Some people hate Jaylee or Slash- I read both, Some is better then others. So put Scorpion in a catagory(there are so many). Its an original character that has yet to be totally revealed. So quit your bitchin and bother some other nutcase... PS...... I ain't her.. I am far worse...

AHA!!!!!!
Thursday, 21 June 2007 20:16:43

I found out who was stealing my DVDs, it was my uncle. I figured it out when two more came up missing, I confronted him and he returned them. He said "I didn't think you would mind if I borrowed some.". If you didn't think I would mind then why take them when I wasn't home? Isn't family great.

On the Steamer's Vestigial Mode of Time Measurement Based on Solar Cycles
Saturday, 23 June 2007 01:39:11

Everybody got me something. Well, almost everybody. But through a countless bunch o' fine birthday wishes, I'm feelin' the love, my friends, I'm feelin' the love. So draws to a close the 28th anniversary of the day my mom went through great pain, as the saying goes.... 'Finding Serenity'. 'Those Left Behind'. Firefly Official Companion, Vol. 2. One more movie or one more TV season and my life will be complete - either that, or a pleasantly vivid dream of River and me celebrating with a dance and a joining of hands. For now I have this whopper of a plot bunny - what would the crew (especially Kaylee) do for Mal's birthday? Would they have the nerve? *cogitate*

Yeah... so I'm weird. What's new?
Saturday, 23 June 2007 02:05:31

A week spent with 11 year olds... free. You're a councilor. The promise of spending your birthday ( ) with the same bunch, on a Monday... Also free, but compensated - I'm going to get dinner and a movie, possibly with my bestest friend ever. Yeah, next Monday is my birthday, and I'll be doing that with 11 year olds. So, I get up 7:30-ish... bleh, that's bad enough. Then 11 year olds from 8:00 to 5:00, plus :30 to watch them until they get picked up. *headdesk* Why am I a camp councilor again? So, the real reason I wrote this blog entry was because I just realized something that I wanted to tell you all. You know the whole Barcelona-having-dogs-with-no-noses thing? I thought it was funny before. I didn't realize why, because I was being STUPID and thought of dogs without muzzles. Yeah. *blank stare* I know. It's mildly funnier when I realize that it's probably founded in the joke related to the dog without a nose smelling bad. I didn't realize that I was thinking sans muzzle until I was IN Barcelona. I don't think I saw a dog there. But I did all over the place in Paris. *sigh* Luck of the internet-addicted. Did I mention I have another week with the 11 year olds, and 3 other weeks with children of indeterminable age, probably between 6 and 10? Yeah. Fun! Someone explain this whole "Volunteer 'cos you like it" thing, 'cos I've done it for a while, and I'm still not sure why I'm doing so... :disappointed:

Closer
Saturday, 23 June 2007 05:29:48

Iwas just listening to NIN song closer. I'm thinking it would make a great Rayne video. I'd make one, but I lack the knowledge. Hell, I'm lucky I can type!

Beta needed Fic just about ready!
Saturday, 23 June 2007 13:52:03

My old beta is MIA and I need a new one. I have a fic ready for Beta reading and I'd like to get it posted. Here are a few of my quirks. I usually have good ideas but sometimes they need refining. Most of my writing is non canon because I mainly write Mal's Ma and young Mal before the series. We know very little about how Mal Reynolds was brought up and I have definate ideas about it. For some reason Meg Reynolds (my name for Mal's Ma)and her story have invaded my brain and I find it easy to write her. Maybe it's because I'm a mother myself. I don't know. I have tried Mal/Inara and I find it very very hard to write Inara. The back and forth banter is difficult to capture and Inara is something of a mystery. If I knew why she decided to rent the shuttle maybe it would be easier. I love run on sentences. I swear I'm trying to change but it's hard to be an editor of something you love. I also have a tendancy to go off on tangents. This verse is just so interesting and I love to explore it. My mind just races and sometimes it ends up on the computer screen. If think you could help me, please let me know. I have a short fic about 3/4 completed and I'm itching to get it out of my brain.

CAN'T STOP THE SERENITY
Saturday, 23 June 2007 14:18:34

So yesterday was my first time to be around fellow Browncoats. It was awesome!!! I met a few people, talked about favorite characters (Jayne obviously for me!) least favorite episode (Bushwacked), favorite episode (Jaynestown, etc. I haven't had this much fun since I went to the last HP midnight book party (and believe me I had WAY more fun with the Browncoats). Can't wait till next year. *sigh* Oh and getting to see Done The Impossible (I hadn't seen it yet) with cute Adam Baldwin hosting it, I think it was one of the highlights of the evening. TO ANY CHICAGO BROWNCOATS: Thanks for making last night wonderful. Hope to see you next year!

BSAStrawberries -- Signal Status Weak
Saturday, 23 June 2007 22:07:20

Okay, as some may have noticed, I am obviously not coordinating the awards again this year. In fact, I don't see myself doing it in the future either. I'm not involved enough in Firefly fandom to have read as much as I should among other things. So here's the deal, if one of you has the desire, I have no problem with someone else taking the reigns. Just comment. I've offered on LJ to [a href="

Read me, I'm sad :(
Sunday, 24 June 2007 16:39:33

Just wondering... Why are the formatting tags appearing on some fics (I.E, mine,) and not others? And how long is it going to last? And is it like that for everyone, or just my laptop being gay? *Cries* It makes me sad to see my story all messy and CRAP! Life Onboard Serenity: An FFF.net RPG
Monday, 25 June 2007 04:47:56

Well, I think this monstrously clever title deserves a bit of explanation: Way back there was a thing called Come To The Galley, a sort of welcoming thread here at FFF.net. It was set in Serenity, which, in addition to her regular crew, was populated by a tabby, a (floral)bunny, a Radar system, a guy named RocketJock, and was the site of daily and nightly speaks and goings-on. A man named GrimJack and a woman named Flywithmecaptn presided, although back then it was quite willy-nilly, but not as willy-nilly as it would come to be. But then, something happened, something that could be construed as bad, something that could be construed as awful, but something that could also be construed as a bit of good. I decided to get ‘welcomed,’ with the aid of one of my close personal friends. I started out as a stowaway speaking of a love bot, and met my end at the hands of said love bot. Before I was ‘killed,’ however, my antics dissuaded people from ever returning to Come To The Galley. I didn’t notice, and at the time, I didn’t care. So, I decided I should return and troll about a bit more. Grabbing the thread and beating it to my own drum, I forced it to take a strange direction. This forcing was almost stopped, but nobody had the heart to give me a toss. So came the true transformation of Come To The Galley into Life Onboard Serenity, I think the 3rd FFF.net based RPG. Then came the adventuring, which I vainly tried to center around my own little fusion of my character and myself, thankfully often refuted by a loved few. The threads lasted until well after my 14th birthday A few months ago, the threads ended. I don’t know why, I don’t know precisely when, but it did. After LOS was gone, I realized how much they mattered to me. I tried other role-plays, my favorite creative outlet (both virtual and physical) but nothing had the raw spark that LOS had. It was more about the camaraderie than the story, I think, and I managed to earn redemption for unwittingly ruining a nice comfortable welcome thread, but helped create something different and fun. We were the LOS crew, myself, DrPain, SameErtia, Flywithmecaptn, JRC, JTTF, GWWAFFOHO, Bigwolf18, Experiment62, Shipscat…and there were others that I can’t remember at this time. What I’m getting towards is that I want the crew back. I miss it, as you could hopefully draw from the above text. So, this thread is the start of Life Onboard Serenity: Season 2. In a last-ditch attempt to get it back, I’m starting this blog for the people looking for a loose, easy, and tolerant RPG, conveniently located at the Firefly hotspot of the internet. If you wanna join up, or rejoin, then leave something here, an application, a thumbs up, anything. I’m gonna check up on this entry at the end of June, and if it’s got enough, then come on in for Season 2. If not…then I guess it is time to say goodbye. -13r

Serenity RPG...adventures in furniture shopping
Monday, 25 June 2007 17:38:30

This last session was a whole lot of nothing going on mostly, but because I really like my character, I'm gonna tell you what she did. One of the players is my hubby, and he's playing a non-fightin' type, Sylas, who's greedy and has friends in low places. He decides to get things interesting in the game by buying a poker table for our ship. He gets the table but no seats, so the next time we get stuck on a world because our pilot is recovering from "food poisoning" he sends me out to buy things for his table, like furniture polish, paint and barstools. The general store had furniture polish, but no barstools. When Goose asked where she might locate barstools, the merchant of the store says, ..."a bar?" She obviously meant barstools for sale, but decides to see if the town saloon would have extras they were willing to part with. Goose walks in with the list, intending to bargain or some such, but I guess female com'ny's in short supply because the patrons start getting fresh...in broad daylight! And I have clearly described my character as ugly, like a younger version of the old lady that shot Mal in the pilot episode. But the GM doesn't make the distinction, and being the brawling type that I am I knee the guy blocking my way to the door. That doesn't do enough damage to put him down though since, according to our GM, the groin doesn't get the +4 damage modifier listed in the book as a vital area. I argue, but no leeway, I have to hit this guy for 3 rounds to put him on the floor. Standing with one foot on his chest Goose shouts "NEXT!", but nobody's willing. So I tell our GM that I grab the nearest barstool and walk out. He says "They don't have any barstools," it's one of those old timey saloons where they stand at the bar. So I say, "I grab a chair and walk out" just hoping to get something for my trouble. He tells me I'd have to approach folks sitting in the chairs to get one, and not wanting to endanger myself further as I am alone, I walk out empty handed. Goose gets back to the ship and tosses Sylas the furniture polish and my hubby, playing Sylas says "Where are my barstools?" Needless to say, there was ROFL all around the table. We're going to be robbing a statue of a ship out of the El Dorado Pleasure cruiser lobby next game session. Anybody with any ideas on how to accomplish this is welcome to post a reply.

Not A Happy Lil Browncoat
Monday, 25 June 2007 18:03:49

Well, I kinda knew this might happen, but silly 'hoping' me just didn't want to think it was true... I won't be attending Dragon Con this year. Y'all have no idea how very upset I am 'bout this. I've been so very bummed. I actually had a lil savings set aside and had just enough to get all I needed to get to Atlanta. Then a couple of really bad things happened to the house and a couple surprise bills and there went the money and then some. I know it shouldn't be the end of the world or anything, but I was just so very excited to meet all my fellow Browncoats. Y'all have been so wonderful and a chance to meet a bunch of you was just something that made me very happy. I am definitely planning on going next year, but just the fact that this seemed like such a sure thing at the time and then it was just taken away. Feeling pretty crap right now. My hubby, Jon, saw how upset I was and said that maybe we could scrape together the money, but I wouldn't want to put us in a hole no matter how happy it made me. I'm so sorry that I won't be able to meet y'all. Save your hugs up for next year and just give me twice as many, ok?

Can't Stop The Serenity - Edinburgh Report
Monday, 25 June 2007 23:05:33

Bear with me, cos I ramble. The day started off a bit badly - with doors scheduled to open at 10am and the movie starting at 10:30am; with us aiming to arrive at the Filmhouse by 9:30am to set-up, and allocate jobs to volunteers at 9:45am, we didn't have much time to get things running anyway. But Jennifer (co-organiser) was late in getting to my house, and I was worrying about everything fitting in her mum's car, and also about running out of time. The next 10 minutes were full of stress and yelling, but thankfully, Zack (my cousin) arrived early and took half of the stuff in his car, so that settled me down some. Though not much. Arriving at the Filmhouse 10 minutes behind schedule, we found the Front of House Manager just opening up, and two volunteers (Alison and Kerri, friends) already waiting. Cue unpleasant thoughts and stress about our lateness and the consequences. I orchestrated the swag-carrying inside, and I had just set down the last box in the entrance area when I turned round to find 4 unknown males standing there alongside known helpers (mainly family and friends). First thought was "who the hell are these guys?" Introductions quickly established that they were in fact the guys who had either volunteered through MySpace or been volunteered by others to help out on the day. Second thought was "yes! More people to help carry and get this shit going!" We got all the stuff upstairs to the cinema screen in one trip, and everything dumped at the front on the stage when I found everyone looking at me suddenly, as if I was supposed to tell them what to do next. Which I kinda was, but it made me feel very nervous - I was put off by the fact that some of the people there weren't actually on my list and didn't have jobs already allocated, which meant I felt a bit lost in regards to what people were doing. Of all the stupid things! At this point, a voice in my head was screaming at me to get a fucking grip and get a move on, because we were fast losing time until the audience started to arrive, and nothing was getting done. So I listened. Thankfully, our group of minions (the stickers went down a storm, by the way) were awesome. Once I got over my initial stupidity and sorted out who was doing what, everyone went about their way and took up their positions efficiently - we had people ready to take pictures, hand out goody bags, collect donations, sell t-shirts, and sell raffle tickets. The good feeling wasn't set to last though - I was still setting up the raffle prizes on the front of the stage when Jen came running back and announced that the audience had started to arrive. Cue panic. It turned out that things weren't going as balls-up as I thought it might, though. Evident by the fact that everything looked suspiciously like it was running smoothly, and the fact that everyone kept telling me to calm down and chill. The arriving audience was cool, Jen and I both got a lot of people coming up to each of us and thanking us for organising the event, telling us well done and the like. It felt bizarre but also wonderful. And personally, since I've had correspondence with a lot of randoms recently, it was great finally being able to put faces to names, especially when they were such enthusiastic and friendly Browncoats! Special mention goes to Christopher, an LA native who was here on holiday, and who drove 5 hours from the Isle of Skye to Edinburgh for the screening. He rocks hard. The seats filled up fairly quickly, and it looked like we actually had quite a good-sized audience, thought I don't know the exact number for sure. I've emailed my contact at the theatre so I'm hoping to find that out soon! Will update when I do. The half hour flew by and soon it came time for us to make our lil' speech before the movie started (the Front of House Manager and Projectionist kindly offered us an extra 10 minutes, so we could fit in everything we needed to beforehand). Crunch-time, and making our way up the stage steps, Jen and I were both more than a little shaky - we needn't have been. Unexpectedly, the ent

Maybe I mistook my interpretation of a kiss that seemed so sincere, I'll have to find other means of gratification, if that's all it was to you dear. I had a delusion of being beautiful, your look didn't help.(Can you hear me?) Maybe it was just a dream. But I've reclaimed my place in line, beauty defined. Dreams of the substancial plague my mind. Where did I go for all those years? Buried head first in the grains of sand pouring from your mouth. Hidden in the darknesses collected from my fears.(Can you see me?) I shall never be the butterfly; emerging gracefully from hiding on a summer's day. The clouds swirl in patterns too wild for normal connotations. I'll have to crawl out of somewhere, blurry and different from the time before. When you knew me. When I was consumed with letting you get inside my head. I lost myself in the cancer placed upon me. Nearly eaten away, parts of me survived. The strong parts, the forsaken parts.(Can you feel me?) The parts you promised to kill with affections. But the infection went wrong, the beauty you were so fond of barely survived the oppression of your words. I had pictured you a net and all I could do was fall. My Warriors soul never slept like I thought it would. Retiring briefly before being forced into action (Can you touch me?) I wanted to be a person, you would coax the traits out of me then stomp them down, watch them shrivel and die: In a way that proved it was a mistake, but you never took it back. I, stripped of my humanity, will have to recuperate somewhere. Where my delusions exist and reality fades away. Until the clouds make a sort of sense only I can understand.

No more School!
Wednesday, 27 June 2007 16:07:27

Yay! School (for me) ended yesterday! So today I'm just hangin' out. I have chores to do, like clean my rabbit's cage and pick up my little brother, who still has school. But ah well. I'm still in my pyjamas. They're so comfy.

I still need a Beta-Fic is almost done!
Thursday, 28 June 2007 03:41:07

The next project
Thursday, 28 June 2007 04:16:36

Hey there – I can’t believe how much I enjoyed the writing process during the creation of Underground. Now that it is all done and posted I am thinking of new ideas for great stories. I am thinking of a series of shorts examining how each of the characters would respond to different situations. For example going skiing or vacation at the beach, being inundated with a handful of children or seniors, or having all the communications equipment give out. I don’t know, but it seems like a good way to stretch my skills as a writer and focus on characterization, point of view, plot etc. So any ideas of a crazy situation you’d like to see our BDH’s thrown into? Let me know.

...and i'm feelin' good.

Woohoo! I did it. "Congratulations, you have been admitted to Ohio State!" Things are looking up. My hard work has paid off, finally.

#&$*^!@ Global Warming!!!
Thursday, 28 June 2007 20:24:26

IT IS HOT!!! No thermometer to speak of,but, by how fast I'm dehydrating, it's damn close to one hundred degrees hereabouts (As opposed to 90 yesterday). On top of that, I made a pointless pilgrimage to the Island 16- I just learned that it is a thirty minute walk. And the path there, it's a fucking desert!!! Went to see if there was anything left on a card that I got last Christmas. Wasn't. And, here's the kicker for that- if the movie I saw with my uncle last month ago hadn't already started (which made it pitch black), so we couldn't find a seat, we had to get the Directors Hall viewing- three bucks a seat for... what? Leather seats and a menu that NO ONE ever orders off of. So no movie. If it sounds like I'm bitching too much, then... sorry, but I'm finding it hard to care. -Danny

Ladbrokes Owns My Soul!!!

And apparently it only cost £312.43 after deductions - a bargain! (That means I got my first ever paycheck in the mail today.) Yes! I, Bellona, have fallen from the noble ranks of the slackers and joined the world of work! True, I'm only a lowly part-time cashier in a betting shop. And I'm treated like a dogsbody because I'm a student. And I have to get up at 8 o'clock some days (hey, I'm a teenager - if it's still light out, it's early!). But, I don't have to work with or serve anyone I know from school and that's ALWAYS a good thing. Admittedly, I would like something more challenging than sitting on my rear, tapping buttons and counting change all day. But you take what you can get, right? b

Bonkers
Thursday, 28 June 2007 22:14:12

Yesterday, I went to a zoo for a end-of-the year school trip. Place had pretty decent animal care, a black-maned lion, some tigers, a beaver...and a bear named Bonkers, who once co-starred in a BtVS episode called 'Pangs'. This guy named Otto was feeding him. Thought it was worth mentioning.

I have graduated
Friday, 29 June 2007 17:09:55

Hi there, I got my degree classification today. I got a 2:1. Yay me. I was so nervous cos I didn't think I would do so well. My graduation ceremony is on the 11th July. My brother got a 2:2. If you don't understand the English classification system it goes: 1st, 2:1, 2:2, 3rd.

Firefly Moments Abound!!!
Friday, 29 June 2007 17:57:43

As the new Summer of Serenity takes flight, so do the Firefly moments - not to mention the fireflies!! Firefly moment #1: Most recent New England Browncoats Shindig comes to mind. We're all out hanging around the fire pit after dark, playing bongo drums, tambourines, and other percussive instruments. In the midst of our second number, Kessa comes up, puts a crown of flowers on my head, slips off, and returns with a bowl of wine that she plants in my hands....Caught up in the moment, I chug it. But thankfully we didn't do the dance with the joining of hands, so her husband won't have any pointed things to say. So as we're doing our third number on the drums, I watch the flames a-leaping: then I see a little point of light blink on and off again. Then I see another, and another, and as I look around I see that we have some extra special company which I point out to the rest of the gang. We finish the number to see swarms of them darting around us, and one of the crew pipes up: "Well, guys, we've done it! We summoned the fireflies!" Truth to say, it was the weirdest thing - they didn't start swarming around us until we got going with the drums. Freak of nature, anyone? Weird, but undeniably cool. Firefly moment #2: Kessa, DF, and I are on our way home from the CSTS showing in Boston. DF stretches out in the back seat of the van, phone in hand. As he's our acting mechanic, it is observed that he's stretched out in his hammock listening to the Message. Thus follows the exchange: Me (as Kaylee): Hey, this thing doesn't vibrate! DF: *fiddles with phone* It does now. Me: Oh, GOD!!! I can't KNOW that!!!! Kessa: I could stand to hear a little more. Weekends like those really make me wish I could be a full-time Browncoat, I'm tellin' ya. Firefly moment #3: I'm in Panera having lunch right now, and somebody just asked me why I was cutting up my apple with a pocket knife. My explanation started with: "You know what a Grizwald is?" There will be more. Never doubt nor fear, there will be more.

Just when I thought I was winning!
Friday, 29 June 2007 22:26:28

My little brother hops in the modified car, and I get to ride in the back of the family car with my parents while little bro gets free rein(sp) of the car that I was supposed to be using by now! If I had use of the car like he does, maybe I would think of more places to be going, while using the car! Instead, just when I'm feeling good about the arrangement we have, I get stiffed again!!! I'm REALLY starting to hate my life again! Also, the Title is NOW in MY name! Edit: I just found out that the little shit put himself in a situation, he should never have been in, and got in another accident! He tried to park in a hectic concert parking lot, and backed into someone! Though, that someone is the exactly like him, where he tries to minimize the blame on himself, they push the blame onto him, I'm just getting pissed at the entire world right now!

Randoms (like always)
Friday, 29 June 2007 23:27:50

So I changed a bit of my last entry and I dont know if I'm likin' it or not the brackets are new... I'm really mad at my blog on myspace because I went to the great length of ranting about how gweneth paltrow was a horrible choice for the movie Proof, only because she wasn't grunge enough, then I went off on a tangent about being crazy....anyways I go to post the damn thing and the page gets all screwed up and I lost my entire rant! It was so mean! And I refuse to try and write the same thing twice, it's never as heated or as meaningful as the first time. Health wise this has been a baaaaaaad week. Actually its probably more than a week. I've been partying (as in 'do you like to party?' [as in American Beauty]) since thursday basically and tonight I'm going to an all out blast IN THE COUNTRY no less. It's going to be a crazy crazy night and I find myself wishing that I could have a day or more of rest. But hey! You're only young once.....I hate that saying. All you're doing when you say that is trying to justify things to yourself. And then after this, I get a day to work and then off to calgary for the WARPED TOUR which will rock my socks in SOOOO many ways! I plan on having R N R in there somewhere....... Well it hasn't been all parties. Well, actually it kinda has, I was trying to make myself feel better by making my life seem not so pissed away. We'll see how that goes.........

VAAAAACAAAATION!!!!!!!
Friday, 29 June 2007 23:54:17

I'm on vacation. What am I going to do? NOTHING! Well nothing important anyway. Write blogs. Make silly posts that make people scratch their heads. There is a World War II B-17 at a locale airport that they are allowing people to tour. I will do that. My dad was a navigator on one of those babies. One day your a boy from Nebraska and the next day your 15,000 feet above Berlin getting the shit kicked out of you by flak.

Adam in a new movie-filmed in my hometown!
Saturday, 30 June 2007 02:22:58

In trying to get the power turned back on to parts of my house, my roomie kept turning off and on all the breakers. I only tell you this because in doing so, the cable had to reset itself. When it does, it starts on our crappy local news channel that I never watch. It came on and I flipped the channel before it registered that I saw Adam Baldwin! I flipped back and caught the last bit of a story about the filming of Gospel Hill in our tri-county area.

Can't Stop the Serenity - Seattle
Saturday, 30 June 2007 06:11:35

So, I attended the Can't Stop the Serentiy in Seattle at the Admiral Theatre, and I must say, it was an experience. I brought my friend Shayla, who is fairly new to the Firefly Universe, and who had never seen the movie in theatres. So, we arrived, and we mingled a bit outside. I have never been to a shindig or any type of Firefly meetup before, and it was so much fun to talk to others about Firefly and Serenity with other fans. Shayla was also really excited. So, I took a few pictures, not many, and then Shayla and I bought a few raffle tickets, and I bought a magnet and mini poster. We each bought 6 tickets, and we looked around at the raffle baskets and then we decided that we would each put five tickets in the Firefly 101 package because it had a Jayne hat and Firefly the complete series upon the agreement that Shayla would get the DVD set, and I would get the Jayne hat. Then I put my remaining ticket in the River package because it had a t-shirt, and I really wanted a Serenity t-shirt for some reason. Anyways, we watched the Big Damn Movie, and I had seen it many times. There were tears, mostly shed by Shayla and the girl to my right, then the raffle drawing commensed. I must say, the organizers were humourous, and they looked pretty damn awesome in their "authentic" Browncoat gear. Alas, the Firefly 101 package was not to be ours, however I did win the River package, and after my name was annouced, proceeded to rise to my feet and scream YEAH!!!! ala Howard Dean. Everyone was amused. All in all, I had an amazing time at the benefit screening, and am really looking forward to more Firefly related shindigs in the future.

Custom firefly ponies.
Saturday, 30 June 2007 15:28:25

Okay, so I know my title sounds weird, but there's no other way to say it. You know My little ponies? Well, my friend can re-make them. She takes out the tail and mane, puts in new ones, and will add different colours to it etc. I've started doing them and I've decided that for a summer project, I'm going to make a pony for each of the firefly characters. I've got it mostly figures out, but I'm getting a little stuck on what to paint on their sides. Each one will have a firefly painted on one side. But the other side, I want to have something significant about/to that character. This is what I have so far: Mal- independant's crest Zoe- her sawed off Wash- dinosaur Kaylee- teddy bear Jayne- Vera Simon- Needle/red hospital cross River- blue hand Inara- tea cup Book- bible I'm not sure about my River, Inara, or Zoe. And painting a small Vera will be insanely difficult. So if you have any suggestions, for nay of them, but mostly for those 4, could you let me know?
