Well. Here I am.

So, I'm back online, finally. I was hoping to have everything set up by Friday, but I underestimated the idiocy of Rogers. Tried to get them to bundle my internet, phone, and cable, and I ended up with:-working internet.
-digital cable that won't record (unless I buy another ~$30 piece of technology and rewire my system)
-a vonage telephone adaptor that (A) couldn't interface with my computer, (B) required ~$100 of router, cable, extension cord, and adaptor, (C) wouldn't work once I got everything hooked up, because the unit is designed for US use only, and (D) cannot be returned because my mom paid with her credit card, and she (and it) are halfway across the province now.
At this point, I'm still waiting for Bell's service to kick in (more expensive, but it ACTUALLY WORKS), and I'm gonna be stuck with my mostly-useless cable for a month or two until my finances recover from the raping they've taken. Then I'm going to cancel the digital service (unbundling everything and raising the price of my internet), and sign up with someone who offers regular, ordinary cable service, through the little wire that comes through my wall. No digital signal box, no multi-function remote, no video-on-demand, no pay-per-vue presets, no internet accessibility --I just want to be able to turn on the TV and watch cartoons. I don't want to buy an entirely new suite of technology that offers me exciting new features that I don't need and/or can already do with other stuff.
Aside from that, everything's mostly unpacked. I really think I'm gonna love Toronto (aside from the technological issues). Pictures when I get them off my camera.
