I have no life (just quit my job, no husband or kids--thank God), so keeping up should be no problem. MYSPACE.COM/BURNEDBYFOX is ready for friends. Hopefully lots of them. We will be giving suggestions for boycotting and also have links to a petition to keep Drive on.

I am in kinda seventh heaven right now ... the QMX blueprints I ordered arrived today - and they are amazing!) - and yesterday I got my copy of White Noise - The Light! The blueprints are sure to inform lots of us fanfic writers out there, if not least because we now know where the EVA hatches are, and that there is a toilet on the bridge (very essential, particularly during those long voyages ... or when being chased by Reavers!) White Noise, on the other hand, is just a Nathan wallow. If you buy it, watch all the deleted/extended scenes in one go. It's like watching all the best bits of the film, and makes Abe's inability to cope much more poignant and understandable. I also love the alternative end ... but then that's the sentimental slush in me ... Anyway, enjoy!

Ok here is the perfect analogy for No Child Left Behind. A used car dealer goes to a car sale and randomly buys 25 cars. Then returns to his lot and instructs his salespeople to sell the cars. When they have sold the cars for a total of $400,000 he goes back to the car sale and randomly buys 25 more cars( with different makes, models, mileage, and options and completely different price values than the first set) and goes to his salespeople and says" Ok since you got $400,000 for the first lot you need to sell this new lot for even more money" His salespeople point out that the cars are worth different amounts, have different flaws and COMPLETELY different values making it impossible to guarantee they will sell for more. The car dealer responds " WEll if you don't sell them for more, I'll just cut your pay. That should motivate you. Because if you just worked hard enough and did your job right, you could sell each batch of cars I buy for more money than the last one no matter what shape they are in or how much they are worth." This is the central premise of No Child Left Behind. My 7th grade students need to score higher on the test than last years 7th graders. Even though they are different kids with different abilities and problems, I should, if I was teaching right and working hard enough, be able to make them score higher than a totally different group of kids. And I should be able, each year, to make each new group of kids score higher than the kids the year before. No matter how different they are in ability or problems. Even though I didn't teach them before and have no control over what they learned previously and what concepts they've been taught. I should still be able to make them smarter and teach them so that they get even higher scores than some other kids they have nothing in common with.

It's weekends like this past that make me wish I could be a full-time Browncoat. (No, you needn't tell me that I'm not alone in that 'verse. ;)) Seriously, yesterday I dragged my pi-gu back to work lamenting the not-so-sudden but inevitable end of the New England Browncoats' Big Damn Shindig. I think it actually gave Moonlight Rising a run for its money as the best weekend I've ever had - quality hangout with 40-odd other 'Coats, meeting the Bedlam Bards (who, by the by, are two of the shiniest of all Browncoatdom), myself as Mal, our 'security chief' cosplayed as Jayne, a gal with a severe Kaylee complex, and shindigging well into the wee hours of the morning - what wasn't to enjoy? (Well, there was some stuff not to enjoy, but I'm leaving that alone...) I don't know how our House Priestess managed to pull it all off, but oh, the success and the fun and the overall exhilaration of the thing. The Bards played a new and deucedly high-larious song dedicated to Kaylee, and I don't know about anyone else, but I could have just sat there and listened to them jam with a couple of our local musicians for days to follow. Amongst other Bard novelties was the T-shirt: "I Want My Big Damn Trilogy." Well, we do, don't we? Think now I got a notion regarding that: I say we each toss in a few coin and pick up one of those shirts. Then we talk a few pillars of the Browncoat community into organising a Million Browncoat March past Universal Studios. Anybody else on board? (Also have to say it was a dandy bit of funnin' to have everybody who didn't know my real name calling me Mal. ;) *snicker* Somebody actually came up and said she was sorry about my show being cancelled....) Methinks we definitely need to do this again next year. Or better yet, next month. Next weekend??

Wow. Okay. Sorry. School and other writing projects just sort of conspired with two false starts on Episode 106 to keep my Firefly muse down. Now that I've finally managed to get over my block for the first part, however, expect to see the episode (if not the series in general) move along at a brisk pace.

I slept in on May Day for the first time in over 15 years. Slept in being a relative term. I woke up at 6am. Man that felt good.

I felt a lump in my throat this week when watching the news footage of James Doohans’ (‘Scotty’) ashes being shot up into space on a rocket (launched from the desert in New Mexico) as he requested. I don’t subscribe to the school of thought that says that if you like ‘this’ show you can’t also like ‘that’ one. The original Star Trek was the first SciFi show that I ever liked, years back when I was in high school I would rush home after school so that I wouldn’t miss my favourite TV show with a handsome Canadian actor playing the captain of a space ship…(sound familiar??) Perfect that a few years later I met and married a lifelong Trekkie (and from Canada too…). I should say here that Star Trek didn’t have anywhere near the same effect on me that Firefly did/does. I will be cremated after I die and I think I would like my ashes to be spread half - somewhere in the beautiful Rocky Mountains and, the other half - out over the Pacific Ocean off the east coast of Australia. P.S. My favourite SciFi movie after Serenity is Starman starring Jeff Bridges (plus that guy who was in Drive – Charles Martin Smith) after that comes the Star Trek movies, then Pitch Black & Riddick. R.I.P. James Doohan - I hope the Final Frontier is all you hoped it would be. Art.

... but I actually found something chocolatey that I don't like (except fruit and nut but that's only because I don't like dried fruit). Marks and Spencer's chocolate brownies are disgusting. Never eating them again.

This deffinetly isn't the greatest tale I've heard... or infact the best written, but it's true. What more would you want? So... here it is. How I came across firefly: I have only just fell in love with FireFly... now I know what you're thinking, 'Where's she been all this time?', 'Better late than never.' and my personal favourite ' How does she know what I'm thinking?' But don't worry I can explain and whether it's a good excuse or not, that's up to you but it's all I have. So... I first found out about FireFly from my sister when the DVD's had just came out. At this point I was actually quite a bit younger so I had next to no cash to go to the cinema with friends let alone buy a boxset of DVD's, so since I could not follow up this new found curiosity, FireFly soon drfited from my thoughts. That was until Serenity came out! But even then, as I'd still never seen the series, I found watching the film slightly confusing with questions like 'Why is this girl so important?', 'How did Simon and River get to be on the ship and why were they being thrown off now?' and 'Isn't Jayne a girls name?' running through my head. So even though the dialogue was good, the fight scenes were extraudinary (indeed that's what I remembered most about it later on) and the special effects were really quite special. I found I didn't have a relationship with the crew and didn't care if Wash or Book died. *gasp* 'Blahstphemy!' I know. So again, although I did overall like the film, I let it fade from memory. But now (2 years later), thanks to a brilliant friend (well, most of the time), I love it as much as it deserves to be. It's only coincidence (or fate, it depends how you look on things) that I came across it again as my friend was only really mentioning it in passing as he was telling me about a particular series that he can watch over and over again called..... firefly? Instantly I recognised the name and asked to borrow it. And, after using the puppy dogs eyes -that left in the wrong hands could be fatal- and some carefully practiced whinning, I had the discs in my DVD player and found by the second ep, after I'd orrigionally gotten over the initital shock of a space western and seeing Nathan in tight pants, I fell deeply and some what passionatly in love with the great show we have today. So much so, that after I'd finished the episodes in a week (I didn't want to rush them) I imidiatly bought Serenity and fell in love all over again and can now appreciate it of the fantastic film it is. So now I'm a complete FireFly fan and I am waiting, some what unpatiently and wishing, for the time FireFly will grace our screens once again. Sometimes I feel quite positive about it happening, especially when I read some of the casts interviews and realise just how much they all loved working together but other times, when I hear news that FOX owns FireFly's rights for 10 years and such, I can't help but feel a little downhearted. Hopefully, however there will be no need to be. How does that saying go again? Oh yeah As long as they keep flying, we'll keep watching.... Isn't that the truth.

Yeah... Saturday marks my last day with a soul- clearly, the SATs' are designed to drain the victims willpower until it may suck out your soul through that damned signature and turn you into a mindless corporate zombie if you ain't careful. Just took SIX WEEKS worth of SAT prep at school... well, each Wednesday, at least. And throughout all of this, I have learned ONE very important thing: The folks who come up with this thing are absolute bastards. For example: Antecedent. No, this ain't a sub-species of aregeno, it's an actual word, which you just happen to HAVE to know. Yeah. So far, all I can do is replay "I Wish I had an Angel", by Nightwish... over and over again and again and again and again... One thing I know- don't stress. Cuz that's how they get your soul! -Danny

Yeah... So how do people do this thing? This school thing? Because I just tried to look through aims.edu and felt like my insides had been filled with hot lead and that something was trying to push its way out of my skull. The enormity of everything needing to be done is squishing me!!! Haaaaaaaaalp! *hides under her bed*

Posted this morning in Myspace Blog: Thursday, May 03, 2007 Current mood: hopeful So I'm sitting here this morning and between all the internal and external ponderings/conflict/self abuse I get to thinkin' about the barriers between me and my goals. It dawns on me, I have no extreme goals. No dreams. No agenda. Simple life seems to be a chosen path rather than a goal anymore. I am better than I ever was. I like myself. There are moments of doubt, but despair seems to wash away quickly in spite of the constant barrage of other peoples problems. And that is what keeps stabbin' at me. Other peoples problems. It ain't my fault families don't connect with each other, can't get along, or won't ask for help. I can offer only so much before having to dig deep for the last little bit of caring I have left. It's called compassion fatigue. It sucks. I'd like to use it as a reason for not moving on in life, but reasons and excuses can kiss my light brown ass. There ain't no reason in the 'verse for anyone to not move on in life, to try to be better than than they are, or to love themselves despite how much crap keeps getting dumped on their head. For those who know me, I've been down for a noticeable while. And I do have to thank so many for sticking around despite my inability to shine. But it seems I face a new challenge. The lack of willingness to shine. I've always wanted to be a person everyone gets along with. To be an unbudging mountain in terms of safety and happiness for those around me. But in doing that I have become someone who everyone can rely on. Someone everyone can look up to. Someone to trust. Sure, that sounds like a good way to be. But who can possibly focus their lives on other people and helping them feel better about themselves for this long? And who can possibly put up with everyone expecting you to be that mountain of support regardless of the personal cost? I know. Jesus Christ. But ya see, he is the son of god. Some would say he was not even completely human. I am. I want to love, hate, spit, cuss, kiss, fight, jump, run, fuck, walk, hug, punch, hold, long, fall, appreciate, touch, enjoy... That is human and I want it all. Currently listening : Social Distortion By Social Distortion Release date: By 12 March, 1990 ADD:Everyone MUST check this out. Okay, so, you wouldn't believe it if you knew me-knew me, but i am a big geek. As in, with a capital 'G'. So big that i went to see "Dirty Dancing" in theatres this past Tuesday because they (the big "They" we all know and frequently want to kick in the shins until they submit to our Browncoated demands) re-released the movie to theatres in honor of its twenty year anniversary. With little interview thingies before the movie started. Now, why bring this up on a Flan-site? Because the first little interview thingie with the writer/creator of the Dirty Dancing concept said "Did we really think we were making something that would become this? No. This is all possible because of the fans..." Let me repeat: "THIS IS ALL POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE FANS." And i thought, woah. In twenty years, i could be sitting in another theatre watching the twentieth anniversary re-release of the Big Damn Heroes. Fans DO have powers! If we didn't, how'd we get here? If we didn't, how did THEY get THERE? (They, in this case, being the people we are fans OF...i know, i keep switching definitions of 'They'...sorry...) And then i remembered sitting in the theatre for "Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights" (again, GEEK, okay? i know...) and i saw that someone made THAT movie...and if that can happen, then why does anyone lose faith that we can't get more of this 'verse? I mean, let's face it: dancing is fun and all, but men who stand up against the Alliance are hot. So...i guess this turned into a pep talk, but i felt i had to share. So, to recap: me = big Geek; "Dirty Dancing" in theatres renewed hope that we have the power to at least bring the BDM back to screens; if "Dirty Dancing" got a sequel, what the hell makes us think we can't?

Well, let's not beat 'round the bush... IT'S OUR ANNIVERSARY TODAY!!! 5 yrs of a very lovely marriage to a man that I love with all my heart. Mr. Jonathan Lee Johnson has been pretty much the best thing to ever happen in my life. I know I don't talk much 'bout him, but I'm not one for gushing. Just think of the man as a saint, cause look what he has to deal with! Pity him yet, lol! We've been together for almost 7yrs now and through all the good, bad, and wicked ugly he has been there. I couldn't ask for a more loving husband and friend. Ok, now that y'all are making good use out of your barf bags... This anniversary has been a bit tough. Not to over complain, but money has been tight, very tight so we aren't gonna have the anniversary we wanted. But ya know what, as long as we just have each other (as cheesy as that sounds) I'm fine with that. Though as a huge surprise for me Jon got me the greatest present, tickets for us to see Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Puddle of Mudd and POD at RIT! I screamed really loud when he told me, I mean really loud, lol! Breaking Benjamin is the love of my musical life (as some of you well know) and I've wanted to see them in concert forever. I was so happy I get to see my fav band with my fav person. How cool is that?? Well, I'm happy today, just crazy happy! I'm such a girl when it comes to anniversaries. Not to mention wicked geeky, but don't care, hehe! Well, hope y'all are having your own wonderful days, I'm gonna go enjoy this one to it's fullest! Luv y'all!!

So, a couple of days ago, two of my flat mates and their friends decided, at 3 am, that it would be fun to rip up a bunch of plants from the near by Leazes Park and bring them back to our flat. Fun as it is to be woken at 3 am, and then find soil in the toaster the next morning when I'm in a rush to eat breakfast, it really does not compare to getting a letter sayin me and all my flatmates are required to attend a meeting about the theft of 6 plants. Ach. I can deal with still finding leaves in my crockery, but if I get some kind of warning or fine for this, I will be SEHR annoyed.:pissed: Rant over. :crap: xxx

SICK OF THOSE HIGH PAID TEACHERS > > I, for one, am sick and tired of those high paid teachers. Their hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work nine or ten months a year! It's time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do. . >baby-sit! We can get that for less than minimum wage. That's right. . . I would give them $3.00 dollars an hour and only the hours they worked, not any of that silly planning time. > > That would be $19.50 a day (7:45 AM to 3:30 PM with 45 min. off for lunch). Each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now, how many do they teach in a day. . maybe 30? So that's 19.5 X 30 = $585 .00 a day. But remember they only work 180 days a year! I'm not going to pay them for any vacations. Let's see. . . that's 585 x 180 = $105,300.00 (Hold on! My calculator must need batteries!) > > What about those special teachers or the ones with master's degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage just to be fair. Round it off to $7.00 an hour. That would be $7 times 6-1/2 hours times 30 children times 180 days = $245,700.00 per year. > > Wait a minute, there is something wrong here! There sure is, duh! And you know - I have 40+ students in many of my classes!!

He is about to lose everything. He tells himself it is a sacrifice, sacred in the eyes of God. But he gets no comfort from this. Would you cut out your own heart and sacrifice it to some pagan god as a final act if you knew the sacrifice would make the heart of someone close beat stronger? How much is too much to give? He reminds himself why he would and could make these sacrifices and how the willingness is a good thing, but it all sounds like a Eulogy to him. "Here lies Fiddler the magnificent, now considerably less magnificent owing to his now being decrepit, cadaverous, and covered in six feet of mud. May his sacrifices lend him shade in hell, or keep him warm in the devil's bosom." *shrugs* All he knows for sure is that as he walks across the threshold, his heart dies, and everything that once matters becomes a dull, ringing memory in the furthest back of his mind. He imagines the moment and can see his eyes grow blurry. A subtle burning in his vision that takes him a few moments to recognize. Tears! He is crying, but to himself, for it was ever the way of ample and magnanimous, nay magnificent, Fiddler to mourn alone. How would he deal with grief? Perhaps he would become a soldier and kill the enemies of strangers, or perhaps he will, as gluttons are want to do on occasion, stuff his face with delightful pastries and that Godsend ambrosia called the donut. But he is thinking ahead of himself. He makes the sacrifice for one important reason: it is important to the other. At the end of the day Fiddler does not deserve to be happy until he sacrifices every ounce of happiness he can muster to make the world of the other better. At that point Fiddler no longer has need of happiness and all is right with the world. The Queens sit on their thrones, the birds take to the skies, and he is in the dirt with the rest of the worms no longer bold enough to reach for the light lest the early bird get him. So the decision is made then. Should we read out a judgment or a eulogy for him? "We the people sentence you, Fiddler the Magnificent Esq., to a life of cold shoulders in the service of one. You shall have no warmth or succor from your peers. You shall sacrifice, forever, your right to that curious tingle you get before the outburst of joy, and the irrepressible smile that assails your face. Since you have shown repeated contempt for the sanctity of the blessed ignorance that the rest of humanity walks under, you shall be burdened with a fog of self loathing that will follow you all the rest of your days. Your sacrifice shall be put to good use and its final effectiveness shall be left in the hands of the other, whether it is used properly or not. Happiness cannot belong to you. You can have no respite from the world, and may God have mercy on your soul." Now Fiddler the Chastised feels much better. All is as it should be. Everything in its place and he is home with the worms. He calls out to them, but blindly, they dig. This is going to be a long life sentence.

Well, I'm late but I'm here. I never heard of Firefly. I went and saw Serenity in the theatre and was hooked. I went back to the theatre and watched it again. Then I heard it was a TV show. I recently watched the series and then went out and bought it. I'm hooked on this show/movie.

... when you only have 1400 words left to writ eof the dreaded d word and you have 13 days until it is due in. I'm probably going to go over the word limit but if I was working to the limit I would only have 400 words to write on chapter three and a 1000 word conclusion. Then I just have to get it bound. Yay! I have just THIS MINUTE finished the epilogue to Job Satisfaction. At eleven chapters, it is the longest fan fic I have ever written, and a lot more action-y and plot orientated than I'm usually comfortable with. So far only chapter one has been beta-d, so I'm gonna have to keep you all waiting (ha ha) a little longer before begining to post. That way you won't have longer waits between posts. Now, I'm off to revise the first five chapters in which I have apparently been spelling Regan incorrectly. Feelin' so proud of my la'l self. xxxxxxxxxx

Yesterday morning I put salad dressing on my scrambled eggs. Not on purpose. Yep. Had a nice little brunch set out for myself -- toast, eggs, a little side salad, a nice cup of hot Earl Grey tea. Finished pouring on the salad dressing and then went, "Huh. How come there's Basalmic vinegar and oil on my scrambled eggs?" So, maybe I'm a bit tired. It's what we call "Rush" season where I work, which is at a distance learning high school. All the kids who are trying to graduate with their classes this year have discovered that time is running out on completing the required courses they failed at their high schools and are supposed to be making up as home schooling courses. So, the exams are piling in by the ton. The good news: overtime, baby! I get to take exams home and grade them for time and a half. The bad news? Overtime. I'm grading exams for six days a week instead of the normal five. These are also the worst of the worst exams to grade. For example, I get all eight exams for the American Lit course from students who leave most of the pages blank or just write, "I don't know," for many of the answers. Lovely. I have to write in all of the correct answers, send out Alternate exams, and a write helpful hints about taking time to study and review, etc. knowing there's a good chance that all eight Alternates will come back together with most of the pages blank....It takes a toll doing that only five days a week and now with six -- Where does that get fun? Ah, but that's not what's driving me nuts and giving me ICUS (inaccurate condiment use syndrome). Why is it that it's at the busiest of times that I always get the most story ideas? I have two FF fanfics I'm dying to write, a finished outline for a horror novel, and several fantasy short stories that are now on the back burner. With only one full day of weekend at my disposal, I don't have much time to spend writing. And, with the nice weather, I'd really rather be outdoors puttering around in the garden. Of course, it just might be that I'm making excuses. Wanting to spend more time writing at just the moment when I don't have the time to do it? Isn't that just self-sabatoge and pathetically whiney to boot? No wonder our muses deliver a two-ton load of writer's block when we do have large chunks of leisure time to devote to writing! So what's the solution? More writing, less sleep, I suppose. Guess I'll have get use to sleep deprivation and eggs covered in salad dressing. At least until the end of graduation season.

I would love to see something more of this.

This past March I discovered that one of my mom's coworkers is a huge Joss fan and that she owned every season of both Buffy and Angel. She started by lending me the first season of Buffy which I loved (my parents are thrilled as they are both huge Joss fans and are the ones who introduced me to Firefly). I started zipping through the seasons, watching several episodes every night. The show just got better and better and I'm just so in love with it. After Buffy, I started watching Angel which I just finished today. I'm extremely excited about Buffy Season 8 which I will be reading as soon as I can get ahold of it. I'm not sure what else to say other than how in awe I am of the whole damn thing.

WHAT HAPPENED!! 3 villains show up with very little explaination!(though the new Goblin didn't really need that much.) Spidey goes disjointedly crazy for no reason! I thought the symbiote was supposed to amplify his anger, not his ability to be a dick! More threads unravel, without the needed depth to explain them. More action, without a REAL story behind it! Man, that was the WORST movie I paid to see! Other opinions may vary.

Its late, I'm tired and strangely wired. But then, I have also consumed a sickening quantity of Chocolate. Those kissables candies are addictive....you can't stop at just one. Or thirty either. Though a 10.5 oz bag is starting to feel like a bit much. The sad part is I know that if there were more in the bag I'd still be eating them. I blame my sister. She's the one who gave me the bag to me to begin with. Yes, it is all her fault. On a different note, hope you all enjoy the new story....its been a while since I wrote anything on possibilities, but I've been stuck. I knew where I wanted to go...and what I wanted to tell you in the process; even how I intended to merge possibilities and eve together....but everytime I sat doen to work on it I drew a blank. But after half a bag of my new favorite candy I suddenly knew exactly where to go. So thank my sister for the candy. And excuse the errors I can't see but know must be there. I have been looking forward to today for a LONG time. My best friend Jennifer and I are going to see Rise Against tonight (HELL YEAH!!!) and since we've both been stressed with various things lately, we decided that today would be our one day that we can just chill, relax and do nothing even remotely linked to work at all. We're going to go see Spider-Man 3, catch up on the latest episode of Heroes, watch other random dvds, and generally just have a good time. And then we've got the gig tonight, which I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT! Rise Against are one of my favourite bands, and their music generally makes me want to punch the air, jump about and yell, so to be able to do that at a gig will be AWESOME. So yeah, Monday is finally here, let's get going! *salute* I'll update you all when I get back :-D Peace out, Sadia :-)

Probably not the only one eagerly awaiting information on web concerning movie theatre and times, but such a happy/strong feeling it sometimes feels like I am. Me and friend are jumpin inside skin waiting for the time & date to be listed (well that and Harry Potter bk release and Serenity DVD in August). So many great sci-fi things coming in the near future. Feel as giddy as a kid counting down days to XMAS

The deadline for this dissertation/thesis, or whatever the correct english word is, is approaching with horrifying speed. I don't seem to be able to consentrate (hence me writing this instead of wahat I ought to write) and my head is filled with incredibly creative ideas about everything that is not what I am supposed to do. To add to the stress level, one other occupant of this room I have a desk in, seems to have no problem what so ever with consentration and academic creativity. I am also torn between feelings of joy, because I'm soon finished with this wretchet piece of academic blabbering and real horror of soon not beeing a student anymore. The thought of having to get a "real job" is terrifying, the life as a student is so comfortable and familiar, I am not a big fan of change. Tomorrow I once again have to face my advicor and show him some new and some improved pages. I want to press fast foreward, get a clone to do this for me or get any other sci fi solution for this... Well... now that is out of my system... back to trying to be smart.

Greetings, fellows of the 'verse, and I have just returned from a weekend family get-together. Long story short, my dad was in the hospital last week - seems he's becoming increasingly prone to blood clots in his legs and so he had to spend a few days off his feet. So he finally made it home on Friday, whereupon the fam descended en masse (actually it was just me, the folks, my sister and her family, but her two boys filled up the entire ruttin' house) for a little family get-together. For the most part we had a lovely time. My older nephew is three, and already he's kuang-zhe-de for trains. Needless to say, it excites him to no end what Uncle Chris does for a living. What excites him the more is that most of my childhood model trains still proliferate in the basement, and so guess who got to spend almost three hours down there with him making sure he didn't get into mischief....Took me much of the following morning to rerail cars, put tracks back together and rearrange the scenery to its original form. As you can well imagine, it was nice to watch him enjoying himself, having the fun that a little kid is supposed to have - but later on it also had me thinking, again, about why I don't want any children of mine own. Putting up with that kind of business day after day? Staying up until all hours when they get cranky, especially with my job? Troubling my head about what kind of mischief they're getting into at school? Amongst other reasons....nope, no thank you. But it's kind of a moot point in light of....yeah, you know what's coming. So if you're tired of reading it, best you stop here. I never did think much on what it was like to grow up alone, because surrounded by the little bastards of my age group, I preferred it that way. Still do, to an extent. But the other day, I began to ruminate on what it'll be like to grow old alone. Doubtless I will, because I've seen what loneliness is like and I've also seen what the other L-word has to offer. With that for a base, it hit me today that I've chosen a lonesome lifetime because it's the proverbial lesser of two evils. And as you all clamour, Don't give up yet, You just haven't found the right person, and You're young and you've got time, I sit here and quietly repeat: You all are fortunate enough to know the pros and cons of being in the L-word. All I know, all I have, is the cons. A life alone is going to turn me into a mean old man, but giving in to the L-word is going to make me downright miserable. Why do you think I'm strictly referring to it as the L-word? See, I don't even want to say it. Misery is all it's ever brought me. In my brain pan, misery and the L-word are synonyms. I've got a vasty 'verse of better things to do that will bring me much greater pleasure, and however ironic it sounds, doing them alone will itself be ever more delightful. (Something else that's been on my mind a lot lately: it also doesn't help to feel like I'm the only Christian Browncoat alive. A year and a half and who have I met who shares both those traits? Not nobody.) So the data support the conclusion: growing old alone - depressing as it sounds, even to me - will still make me happier than letting the L-word blast me in the gut again.

I never thought my writing was any good, I've never let anyone read any of it before. I put alot of myself into writing this, so I hope you like it. "Summer Road". I stand alone on this summer road. No parks and swings, no sweet summer flings. Just me myself and I. Why, cause daddy said bye. And I can't deal, who can help me heal? No one that's who, I try to talk to mom, she says I'm through. Now she's in the bathroom gettin' pretty, and I'm in my room feelin' shitty. She comes and kisses me on the cheek, says don't leave your room don't even peek. She's goin' to the club to look for love, when she only has to look at home. So here I am alone on this summer road. No parks and swings, no sweet summer flings. Just me myself and I. Why, Because for me, it feels like hope never springs.

There were three stories that appeared on the same page of the newspaper this weekend that caught my attention. One was the Globally Updated Version of the Dr. Seuss classic the Zax, i.e. Manouchehr and Condoleezza—better-known as Mottaki and Rice (I thought mottaki was a kind of rice…)—sharing an ice cream at the Ministerial Conference in Egypt last week. Another was of the capsizing of a boatload of Haitians—many of whom were devoured by sharks before they had a chance to drown—trying to make it to the promised land. The third article had to do with a boy in Kansas who stabbed a duck and her two ducklings to death, a story making national news no doubt because we are now all on the lookout for Seung-Hui Cho-like early warning signs in all our children, whereas the “Get Off My Lawn!” 8-Mile Style has barely even made a local mark. Perhaps the thread linking these stories—besides the “other news from around the world, country, city” theme of the page—is that there is a bitter irony, an odd coincidence or one-liner fest attached to each. SHARM EL-SHEIKH, not CHARM, ALL CHIC One State Two States, Red State, Blue States Does anyone else here smell the irony?

Hi there, I finished my dissertation today, YES!!!!!!!!! Yes I did need all those exclamation marks. 8642 words, about 40 pages and four months of hell and it is finally done. God i'm relieved. In case you care it's on the living conditions of miners in East Durham between 1900 and 1939. It's probably all bollocks but as long as it is passable bollocks I couldn't give a monkeys about how it is. It just needs printing and binding and then it is ready for handing in. I'll do that all next week since it isn't due until the 18th. Now I want to pass out and sleep for, like, a week. TTFN Jennifer

Not to be sounding mean or anything, but why couldn't that crazed killer named Cho, who shot up all of those people at that Virginia Tech University, why couldn't he have been an angry Firefly fan? Also with that said wouldn't it have been a hoot(depending on how you view it) if he had paid FOX executives who had a hand in canceling our show a little visit instead of taking his frustrations out on the people at that school he went too? That crazed kid's energy went in the wrong direction if you ask me. Just a thought, and also wish me a Happy Birthday. -River

Just got my Amazon order 4 days early -- they said it would show up on the 12th. 'bout 2 months back I ordered the FF viz companion vol. 1 and 2 plus the Serenity viz companion plus the Finding Serenity: anti-heroes book, so Amazon held the entire order until the FF viz companion vol.2 was in. Here y'all go... [passes out drool cups or bibs, as needed.]

The other day I saw my friend Amber (proud owner of Jon Woodward's Nathan Fillion underwear) and her son Devon at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival. Afterwards, we went out for Chinese food, and I had to show off the new Serenity shield decal on the back of my truck as well as the Serenity model on my dashboard. While Devon was oogling over it, Amber confessed that her proudest day as a mother occurred recently when Devon came home from school and said, "Today we played Serenity on the playground. I was Mal, and Bobby was Jayne. We made Angela's kid brother be a reaver, but he didn't want to."

I don't get it. I NEVER get ill. Only here I am... feeling like warmed up leftover shite. All yesterday I had this bile-y taste in the back of my throat that would not go away. Then as I got into bed, it progressed into a full scale cold, which of course kept me from sleeping - I feel like the walking dead - and made me cough so hard that I kept on almost being sick. And I now have a headache. An in an hour I have to go to lecture AND THEN that gay meeting about my flat mates nicking those plants when I was in bed. Life is not good. Enough whinging, I've just noticed it's later than I thought. Gotta run xxxxxxxxx

Well I've always taken photog classes just to use the darkroom for my b&w printing. In the end, I always thought the cost of the class overall more than paid for the amount of time I'd get to print. And I was right.... For the first time, I paid to use a lab by the hour. I had to finish a project to hand in. The technicians tried to "shove" me in a situation where I'd have to expose print in one room and then take exposed paper into another room to develop it....After I told them that I made a reservation, and that there new offer didn't sound so convenient to me, they "miraculously" got the girl who was in my reserved room out...no hassle/ no fuss on her part...I'm guessin she was a friend... Once past that minor snaffoo, all went pretty easy...except for when the developer went exhausted and there was no employee around to make up a new batch...oh btw did I fail to mention that the only employee working the late shift (5-10 pm) had to leave, asked me to pay before it was over, and said it was ok to just leave things as they were and exit building on my own....very strange... Anyways, there was a nice older man in the darkroom next to mine. He was no longer printing, had the door open and was reading a paper in the dark...[ok part of me was thinking what the hell am i doing in a place where strangers are left alone in mostly deserted floor with no security]...but I took a chance and he ended up helping me...he no longer needed his developer and kindly brought that tray into my darkroom.... What have I learned from this encounter... 1)always ask for new developer before starting my time in darkroom 2)always let someone know where I'm going in case some (potential) psycho in the next darkroom might hurt me [nope, didn't tell a soul where I was going] 3)go to a place that has staff there to assist...till they close. .... So as I left white street and headed towards Canal st to catch the R train to head to Queens, I thought for $75 I could be a bit more aggressive in my needs next time. Thanks for reading my rant.So hasn't put me off photography. But the costs of film and printing, as well as time necessary to print, are really making my lust for a Nikon D200 grow stronger everyday. Santa if you're listening that would be a great gift. If you're feeling a budgetary pain, the D80 is not bad. Signing off...the way over the top and highly caffeinated photographer waves goodbye

Yesterday I turned 45 years old and I had plenty of time to think about the last 45 years, or at least 40 of those years because all of the events that took place between years 0 through 5 are rather foggy in my mind. Of course while I was doing all of this mulling over the past I was drinking my head off, which seems to be what I do best these days besides make my workers at the job miserable, which I do enjoy in a sick, drunk with power sort of way. I’ve lived a pretty strange life when I really get down to it. I’ve realized that though I’m successful at the making money part of life, I really don’t have much of that enjoyment of life that people always seem to talk about. I’m unhappy most of the time, and to deal with that I engage in destructive behaviors in attempt to make myself feel “alright” about living in my own skin; I’m failing at this of course. Last night I drank 11 glasses of wine, and argued about religion and politics on in the voice chat section of Yahoo Chat. I wrote 4 reviews of certain restaurants I frequent, and of course since it’s me doing the writing, all of the reviews were totally negative. I ordered out for pizza and then forgot I ordered the pizza, so when my door bell started ringing I was annoyed because it was interrupting my yell fest with the people on Yahoo Chat. I stormed to the door and gave that pizza delivery girl a piece of my mind, and I guess I did it so well that the poor girl burst into tears. Nice Job River6213. I ended up apologizing to the girl, and gave her a $100 tip, and closed the door and carried my pizza into the computer room and sat down. As I was sitting there I realized once again that I need to change something about this life I’m living; it’s not a happy life. There is nothing fulfilling about it. All I seem to do is go about life making other people miserable, and granted I get a sick charge out of it, but come on! It’s not right. It’s mean, and serves no real purpose; it is an empty act. It could be worse of course. It could always be worse, and I should count my blessings that I have a comfortable life in the 1st place. So many other people are having a terrible go at life, so I should be grateful, which I am, but something is missing; something fundamental and important. I’ve decided to find out what it is that I’m missing. I need to eliminate the things that are negative in my life. One thing for sure is I think I drink way too much. I drink all the time, but I especially drink a lot when I’m at home, and I seem to do most of this drinking at home. I suspect that I’m a roaring alcoholic, but no AA for me! Those guys are a cult in its own right, and I will have nothing to do with cults. Also, I’ve taken up smoking cigarettes like crazy; this has got to go. I also think that I should get back into exercising because I remember feeling okay doing it, and I had a sense of accomplishment when I looked in the mirror. It’s interesting when people get to be a certain age they start finding things to change in their lives in order to feel a certain way. For myself right now I feel ugly and mean, and neurotic, and crazy. Another thing I need to change right away is my need to be mean to people. Being mean to someone makes me feel like I’m in charge and in control of the situation, which is stupid BTW, but I do it anyway. Everything’s a war with me, and it doesn’t matter where that war takes place. It could be in a board meeting or the checkout line in a department store; I fight the fight all the time even when there is no reason to fight…does this seem right to you? I need to change into someone better and more alive than me. Right now I’m sitting at my desk writing this when I should be working. I have a hangover to end all hangovers, and a stomach that feels acidic, and I think I want to throw up. -River

I have 6 days left (before handing in my thesis not to live (i hope)) I have 25 pages to write Because of this Internet havent been this interesting since 96 I am hungry I have been drinking way to much coffee I am (also because of the thesis)addicted to fanfiction (this surprises me a great deal) I am haunted by thoughts like "I need to get a job" "you should honour your student loan and get a career" "I want to be five years old again" "the gummibear song was kinda neat" I am torn between beeing the cynic Im often accused of being and a hopless romantic... This is a problem for me in sertain discussions I tend to sit on the seat directly over the wheel on the bus My highest wish at the moment is to read a book that has nothing to do with my thesis... Having a keycard that gives me acsess to the institute at night makes me feel important, even though it does not MAKE me imporant Im broke Sitting and writing all day makes me childish and giggely I wanna go home Thank you for listening. I will be back another time with an update on my totally uneventful life (but at least it mine and mine alone) "You know what it says in the will; The one who takes care of my Constance gets my hat, gets my shoes, gets my extragavanza" (Kontroll på kontinentet- Kaizers Orchestra translated by me...wooo)

I've been cruising Neatorama.com recently, and today they had a paragraph about Joost. Apparently you can only get it if you're invited as it's still in beta. One of the contributors to Neatorama has it and at my request sent an invite to me. After I signed up, I sent him a minimal gift for his time and he wrote back. We exchanged several emails, our interests on books, places and computers. He sent me a link to a site and his profile there. Bear with me, almost there! He likes scifi, guerrila marketing and studied Mandarin Chinese! See a pattern here? I asked him if perchance he might be a browncoat. He wrote back saying he had to look it up, but funny thing is he went to school with Ben Edlund! I've written to him again, providing a link to versaphile for the eps and to youtube for the Blaze of Glory vid by Fayleigh. Now waiting for the magic to grab him!!!!

Title aside, I did not get mind-tricked into performing it. But I did get home a little while ago and reread everybody's comments on my last blog. First of all - yinyang, your apology is gladly accepted and tucked safely into the inside pocket of my brown coat. I think what's needed here, though, is a little bit of clarification on why I said what I said. Yeah, look, here's what it is: Every time I post something like that, whether it's here or on LJ or Myspace, whether it's a blog entry or a community post, somebody always pops up and says, Don't give up! Ever am I embroiled in trying to drill it into my own brain pan that whatever happens happens and a much greater being than myself has control over it. At the same time though, logic and experience vie to influence my perception of the future. Logic says, You shouldn't give up, you should sit back, concentrate on something else and let it take its course. Experience says, For-fucking-get about it, you're just setting yourself up for more misery if you ever try again. More often than not, it's the voice of experience that gets amplified by such an occurrence as being rejected out of hand (sometimes just because I'm a virgin!), seeing my sister's happy family, or really, almost any time I cross paths with a happy couple. I always say that life has to be balanced - hurt with happiness, the strait of life before the peace of death. Still looking for the answer to why the hurt/happiness scale insists on tilting so sharply in the former direction. So I hope that clarifies things a little. Now I'm gonna go do something else, like write....

Kay... so, I wrote this book. Goin' on six months now, since I first started. It's done'n dead, It's wrote all up, all hundred and ten pages. First off, I was fixin' to write a novel- three hundred pages or so, ne? By the third month of four, they told me that I had a hundred page limit. Bastards. So, I had to change the plot from the crucial turning point and take out a good seventy-five pages already writ. I managed to get it done- albiet with an ENTIRELY different ending then I'd plan- guess I'll hafta write a sequel, eh? Yeah, I'm kiddin'myself, I know. Let a guy have his dreams! Now, it is May. They (Xlibris, the Publishing Co that no one can pronounce properly), said that the book would be out in May. It's May. I fail to see a book with my name on it in Borders, or on Amzazon. I think that they neglected to tell me'n the other authors about this lil' tidbit, eh? I have no CLUE when it comes out- just May. Maybe the middle. Maybe the 31st. Maybe it's already out, and I just have no sense of direction. But, I'm starting to think that there's an information gap here... Still, who am I? What right have I to know? After all, I only wrote the damned thing... Rants over, folks. Ya'll can leave the bomb shelters... ;) -Danny

I think I will be this way forever. Where is my prince charming? Where is the man that will complete me? Make me want to be a better person? Someone who values trust and communication and most importantly, humor? Someone who understands that I am tender hearted and too trusting. That I crush easily? Someone who is worthy of my trust and my admiration? Where is my happily ever after? My knight is shining armor?

My younger brother gets to drive MY car more than I do! How wrong is that? We spend $9000 on the car, an extra two or three grand on the modifications so that I can drive it with hand controls instead of pedals, and my little brother drives it to school every weekday, while I'm stuck at home doing nothing! Yes, Ladies and Gents, this is another Life Sucks rant from your resident downer of late, Jossisagod!

So, I had a Media essay due for today at 12pm that I've been avoiding like the plague all week. I'm not even exaggerating. I'd gotten to the point where I just didn't care about it at ALL, I didn't even care about passing the module, and at 10pm last night, I was debating just not doing it and handing it in next week. In which case, it would have been capped at 40%. Buuuut, I decided to give it a bash, and I just finished the thing about two hours ago, at 5am. It's funny, I didn't actually think I'd even be close to the end of it this night, but here I am! And the odd thing is - I still don't care. While I was writing, I was the most relaxed I've ever been about coursework, especially this close to the deadline, and I just thought "if it gets done, it's done, if it doesn't, oh well". My only complaint is the lack of sleep, but cest la vie. Damned B*Witched. Rise Against blog coming soon, now that I have time to write it!

Jumpin back onto the horse, so to speak, I decided to give another photography lab a "go". This time, I went earlier in the day, and to a nicer part of time (reflected in the price tag, isn't that shiny). I loved it. People my age (some nice lookin men into photography showin up at this place--woohoo! [ahem]) in a busy not desolate atmosphere where each person did his/her thing. Not once did I get that creepy "oh my god I might get mugged or worse" feeling. For those in NYC--PrintSpace on 19th street is worthwhile. **** PS-thanks to all who posted to my last blog. I appreciate the concern and the comments. PPS-out of curiosity, is there a way to see a list of the latest blogs by all members of the fireflyfans community...other than clicking on member name. Later gators

'Some people see things that are and ask, why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, why not? Some people have to go to work and don’t have time for all of that…' -George Carlin (1937) Hi all, I just wanted to announce that ‘AT LAST’ my Firefly project is complete. (evil laugh) – Trust me. If you were here, the laugh would sound deep and maniacal. For the past 8 months (or so), I have been developing a firefly series of my own, called ‘FireflyFans: Top 10 List’. Its all in *.GIF format, with about 12 episodes in all. Don’t worry, there all relatively small in download size. I wont tell you all what the plot is about specifically (don’t want to spoil the surprise), but it’s a mix of writing and animation. I’m planning to post them via weekly installments ‘really soon’, though I haven’t quite figured out which day would be the best to post them. Any ideas?

So while I'm stuck trying to finish my thesis, I suddenly get a piece of exellent news. Some time ago I applied for a course in Russian. Its going to be in St. Petersburg in August/September, 6 weeks. I didnt get any answer from the people, so I sent them an email asking about when I might expect an answer. If i didnt get in I would have to apply for other things and/or a job *shudders*. So I got an email back saying that I had gotten an answer April 17th... hmm... no I didnt. The problem was that they had misspelled my email, but they didnt get a failure notice cause someone else has that adress. So everybody panicked, emails were sent to St Petersburg, visa papers were handed in.. I waited. The message I got was that I was in if the visa things went in order, and that wasnt guaranteed cause it now was so late. But yesterday I got an email saying it was all Ok...I can go!! I an frakking going to Russia.. I have wanted to go there ever since I took Russian in High School (maybe even before that). This is so cool. Now I can put of thinking bout "the real world" for just a little while longer.

I sat down today to start my assigment for my What is a Play module, to get it out of the way, since they've been very late in releasing the material. And I find that we are required to read the entire play, instead of just the extract we've been given to analyse. It doesn't sound too bad but they told us to buy all these play's at the begining of term, and we've only worked on two of them. Which means a waste of my money. Now we have to buy more plays. And that means more delays, waiting for them to be dewlievered, 'cos I'm not going to a shop to pay a tenner when I can get them for a quid online. It wouldn't be so bad if they were decent plays, but I hate Macbeth in year nine, and now I have to spend more of my money on a copy. And I just wanna get the damn thing out of the way. Do they think us students are made of effing money? Okay, rant over. Gonna order the plays and try to do as much of the analysis as I can now. Then, REVISION. Oh, my life is sweet.

So I had to work late yesterday, and today I had to be back at work early. I meant to set my VCR to record Nathan on Craig Ferguson last night, and I TOTALL FORGOT!!! As a matter of fact, the alarm went off this morning and the first thing I thought was, “You didn’t set the VCR!” If anyone made a copy and has the equipment and know-how to put it up on YouTube, could you please do that? Thanks, Phyre

I havn't been here in a long time. I guess at some point my attention moved onto something else. Not that I ever stopped loving Firefly, mind you. Anyway, I just wanted to share some exciting news with my fellow fans. My fiance and I are "tying the knot" this august. For the past couple weeks I have been searching for music to use during the processional, because I have decent sized wedding party, I need a few songs to give them enough time to get down to the altar without having to repeat any one song. I decided to use music from the Serenity soundtrack. The featured songs are "Rebuilding Serenity" "Prep for a Flight" and "Love." This should allot the perfect amount of time for my wedding party. Following those three songs will be the Cannon by Pachelbel as I walk down the isle with my father. I think it all goes together well. I especially love the music from Serenity.

All About Hives From Heather Brannon, MD, Your Guide to Skin & Beauty. FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now! What Are Hives? The skin condition we call hives is referred to in medical terms as urticaria. A hive, or wheal, is a symptom of urticaria. However, most people do not develop one hive when they have urticaria, hence the name hives. Hives Location Urticaria is a common condition that can affect any person of any race at any age in any season of the year. It occurs in up to 20% of the population at one time or another. Hives can occur on any skin surface, but usually spare the palms and soles of the feet. Hives are classified as acute or chronic depending on the length of the episode. Dear readers, Please note above the statement that hives usually spare the palm of the hand and soles of the feet. I ask because once again I, ABBYNORMAL, have struck. I have hives on my palms, the soles of my feet, the outer edges of my ears, my Eyeball! My FREAKING EYEBALL! Who the hell gets a hive on the eyeball? I have hives in places that can not be named. Its not that I am ashamed to talk these places, I just don't know the gorram names for them! I have to go now. A vat of calamine had my name on it. :crap:

Hi all. Yeah, I know I'm still not around much. Some of it is work and the cleaning thing, but some is I'm kinda in a bit of a funk. I get home and I just kinda become a lump that's only interested in either reading or playing computer games, but the reading's been winning (except as far as my pocketbook's concerned.) I still got the insomnia thing going, too. Reading does seem to help me calm a bit, so I'm not having to hit the Prilosec. My attention span, once I get home from work, is the pits, which is kinda another reason why i haven't been here much. My favorite threads tend to get very long, very quickly and my brain just won't function coherently for that length of time. It's pretty much 'Short Attention Span Theatre' time. Let's see, since I last posted, I did go to jury duty. Parking was astronimical ($10.00) but I got a bit of a surprise. My former roommate (and friend since 2nd grade) was summoned that day as well. We had a nice chat (she's been kinda busy since she remarried) until she was called out. I got called about 40 minutes later, went up stairs and....sat in a black slate--yes, REAL slate--hallway for an hour and a half. Then the bailiff came out and told us the case got settled out of court and herded us back to the main jury room. Watched 'Men in Black' on their TV and when it was over my friend returned. She'd gotten interviewed for a murder trial, but the defense attorney dismissed her. We talked a bit more and I got called again. this time it was to tell me I was free to go home, so I got sprung at 12:30pm. Not too shabby as they's told us there was over 30 cases that day that were going to need juries. I ended up then going to the movies with a different friend and seeing 'the Invisible.' it was an interesting movie, but not what I was expecting from the trailer I'd seen several months back. They'd marketed it as a kind of weird mystery, but what it actually was was a character study. Very weird. I am no longer doing OT at work, but am now thinking of a second job to help with the bills. *sigh* In a effort to get myself being more responsible, I've re-established my fish tank and now have 3 guppies, two neon tetras and two snails. They're all very cute. The tetras want to school and the guppies want sex. It's very amusing to watch. Today (okay, yesterday...Friday in any case) was a busy day. Frankly I think I'd have had an easier day had I gone to work. Today started with going to the Secretary of State office (read: DMV) to get tabs for my non-running car (yeah I really need to get rid of Spike. I think he'll be a donation to a charitable organization...several of them will take non-running vehicles) only to discover I didn't have a current proof of insurance paper for it. Went back to the insurance agent, obtained it, back to the SoS and paid them. Then hit Costco, Target, Meijer and Barnes and Noble. Got home, changed and went over to a friends' home. I'm promised to help rugrat wrangle their child at a baseball game as the child's mom had to go to a work-related meet & greet. So child, daddy (who was also having a b-day that day) and myself went to a college baseball game and watched the home team cream the visitors 12-1. Went home, re-blonded myself (yeah, my hair hasn't been this color naturally since I was 25) and am catching up on emails. *hugs to everyone*

Ding Dong the hives are gone  Looks like the Benadryl won  But I'll take some more for I've read the lore :crap: and I don't want them back, not one! :disappointed:

Ok, I have just eaten the most revolting thing I have tasted in ages (there are worse things out there but Ive stayed clear of them for a while) Its saturday and im stuck a rather long distance from any store thats open. I was aware of this when I went shopping for food I could take with me (to campus and university and my desk). But never again will I eat instant pasta in a cup. I hav noodles too, but since I forgot to take any eating utencil with me I went for the pasta, cause its so darn hard to eat noodles with a tea spoon. Tiny tiny tiny spoon only thing I had. Took ages to eat the vile thing. Why do they make this?? (I will have to remember to bring a more noodle friendly eating apparatus tomorrow, as that will be sunday and not a gorram thing besides gasstations is open) Ok enough. Back to work. Steam and frustration out... Work Woman!! Come on write something!!!

I immersed myself into the sci-fi ocean in two big ways this past week. Last Saturday, I attended the sci-fi film fest at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago. Plus, I came across my latest anime obsession, still being released on DVD, "Ergo Proxy". The sci-fi fest featured the following on the big screen: Serenity, Metropolis, Forbidden Planet, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Mad Max, THX-1138 (the original student short by Lucas while at USC), La Jette (the basis for 12 Monkeys), The Terminator, and Starship Troopers. The whole day rocked. Watching most of the films all together in one day was kind of like being in a dream state. They also played loads of B movie sci-fi previews; Death Race 2000 and Zardoz among others. Hilarious. "Ergo Proxy" is proving to be very cerebral so far. It's intense, dark, edgy, philosophical, and features one seriously hot female who wears blue eye shadow all the time; all those things I prefer in my sci-fi. It's stuffed with references to philosophers, mathemeticians, and characters from classical mythology. The animation is pretty nice. I'm sure all the die-hards could cite something better, but it's still cool - a cross between "BladeRunner", "Outbreak", and maybe "Ghost in the Shell." Comments welcome.

Had to take a trip to the Army Navy Store in Coatesville today to get some odds and ends since the little man went through Cross-over for Cub Scouts. Among the new hat, tie clasp, and belt, I made some of my own uniform purchases. See, it's easier to hide those things from hubby when I do it that way. ;) Shhh! I picked up a plain black tee shirt for around $7. Now, I usually take a 2x, but I've been losing a little bit of weight. I've gotten down to a 1X and I'm content to be there since I've worn those for a very long time. Since I'll be wearing layers, I decided to go with a Large since I want it a little snug because on top of the tee I'll be wearing a vest and coat. I wanted something that'd feel like skin that wouldn't chafe and bunch up while I'm marching. I just tried on the tee and it is snug, just the way I wanted it. When wearing it under the vest and coat, it was absolutely perfect. :) Now I need to wash it once or twice to get rid of the freshly dyed smell and get some fabric softener into it. I have a belt already, but it's more of a tool belt and it needs to be dyed. It also fits my waist, but not my hips where I want my holster to be slung. (I have very generous hips.) I picked up a belt at the same time as the tee and holy cow what a difference. I won't say which SIZE belt I bought, but it was loose enough to sling a little lower than my waist but fit well enough not to fall to the floor. I put the holster from Mircea and the pouch from the COL on it and it felt great. Last night, my kids had been playing at my mom's house and found some sort of strap to one of her bags. It had the hooks on the end and was a good length. I asked to steal it and strapped it to my G36. If I can soak that thing at the same time as the stripe material for my pants, I'll have a perfect new sling. The one that comes with the gun isn't conducive to people with breasts. I swear it. But now I can flip the gun to my back comfortably to keep it out of the way. Now if the dye takes, I'll be set. Today was like a total 76th Uniform euphoria. I'm tempted to go and buy my pants while my good luck holds...

I read somewhere once, 'I dont know what we should hate more, the power that crushes us or our endless ability to endure.' Hard to imagine a few months ago I was sitting in the desert. I'd gone back home to Ireland to face a tragedy and wound up wandering down to Malaga Spain to either find myself or lose myself. Then across to Morroco hitch hiking down through Fes and Taza. Sought the desert like it would be some kinda purging or purgatory or ablution. Hiked out a ways and sat there for 2 days like I expected something to happen. Just sat there waiting. After the second day I just shrugged my shoulders and said to myself, 'Well, this was a bit stupid.' Turned around and headed back to civilisation. The village locals thought I was mad for even going in the first place. Little did they know. Sometimes we go on because there's nothing else to do. We survive. Not live. Just survive. We build our house of cards and of a sudden a wind hits and they all come tumbling down. And the home we try and find our way back to is no longer there. Think, feel, and maybe hope once more. Face the tragedy that mocks and articulates our own mortality. Bury our pain in the cemetery with the rest of the worlds misery. Drag our own weak light into this sunless dark. Look for some semblance of redemption. Forget. And move on. Take up living instead of surviving again. Remember old friends...make some new ones. Get involved. Maybe live life deliberately.

So I'm on the phone with my fiance this afternoon. (Three weeks. Can you believe it?) And she's stumbling around the web (via Stumble.com). So she finds this weird picture, and sends it to me so that we can discuss it. So I'm looking at it, and it's got several good guys on the left, and several bad guys on the right, with the Death Star in the upper right corner. She doesn't quite get the picture, so I explain that it's a good vs. evil kind of thing. I mention that the Death Star should have given it away, and she says, "What?" Now I'm thinking that she must just not see it clearly. So I tell her where to look, and she say, "That moon looking thing?" I decide to give her the benefit of a doubt, since it's not easy to tell, until she asks, "So what's the Death Star off of?" Ok. Maybe she's only seen Star Wars once or twice when she was young. No big deal. Until she tells me that SHE'S NEVER SEEN THE WHOLE THING!! No I'm wondering how this never came up, and why am I marrying you again? She's comes back with, "Well, my family's not big on Sci-Fi, and I do love Firefly, I really do." And trust me, she does, cause it never would have gone this far if she didn't. But I am truly ashamed to call myself a geek right now because my fiance, the woman i am about to marry, has never seen all of Star Wars (the original. I don't blame her for not watching the new ones). Needless to say, I intend to correct this issue within the first week of our marriage.

Ok. Tony Blair has said his goodbyes. I had no intentions of thinkin more about that man until I found this on the internet, I thought this was a much funnier way of remembering him, than remembering him for his time as my neighbouring countrys prime minister (which he still is...right) and labour pary leader.

Is there any official consensus on Book's first name?? Something like Merria?? I can't post my latest fic chapter without this! EDIT: OK, in my searches I just found "Derrial". Is that it?
Tuesday, 15 May 2007 15:13:35
Hey to everyone. How goes it with all of you? Yes, I still live. Yes, everything is good with me. Yes, I'm still writing fanfic and other stories. NO, I HAVEN'T GORRAM WELL FINISHED A SINGLE ONE OF THE DOZEN THINGS I'VE STARTED TO WRITE! You understand... it's very frustrating.

Working on it. Slooowwwllly.... I've been a little busier over on the 76th site with the writing thing. I'm going to pull in some old war buddies, and I wanted to get permission to do a little name dropping from likely candidates. I'm also working on a set of tall card cards. Then there's the sewing for near and dear. And moving (still).

Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove. O no, it is an ever-fixed mark, That looks on tempests, and is never shaken; It is the star to evry wand'ring bark, Whose worth's unknown, although its height be taken. Love's not time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come; Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. So now I'm showing my new boy Firefly. Slowly as he won't watch it without me. Ummm it's a bit unnearving that of all the people I've shown this wonders of the 'verse he's the only one not to immediatly fall in love with it. Can a Browncoat and a casual viewer be in a successfull relationship for long? ~~~~~~~~~ In other news I almost vomited here at work a few minutes ago :vomit: that can't be a good sign

So I finally got around to making another entry in the List Project. This time, I tackle the Top Ten Worst Comic-Book-Superhero movies. And no. Batman and Robin isn't the worst.

You know how when you order something, and then you find out it's going to be late, and you get really, really cross? I ordered the Firefly Companion Volume Two from Amazon UK, well in advance, only come the day it was supposed to be sent out, I got an email saying it wasn't ready - the publishers hadn't released it! So, being the nosy person I am, I thought I'd look at the US Amazon site, and low and behold, there it was. Ready for shipment. I ordered it there and then (last Monday) and it arrived today. Today! (Sorry, just doing my happy dance right now!) Why should this be the case? If Amazon in America has it, why not Amazon in the UK? And then the oddest part is that it actually came from the German Amazon ... I don't really care. I've got my book, and it is amazing. There are some photos I've never seen anywhere, and the interviews are ... trouble is, I may have to buy another copy anyway because of all the drool that's going to dampen this one ...

I'm having a problem with my laptop being slow to load or refusing to load pages. I have cable and this hasn't been a problem until recently. I didn't notice anything different until about 5 days ago after I downloaded the Joost beta ( since removed). Things I have done: clear history and cache numerous times a day disk clean up and defrag AVG Free Adware Away Ad Aware SE personal Crap Cleaner Spybot S&D Spyware Terminator uninstalled Joost The pages I have trouble with will load up to about 3/4 of the progress bar, then stall, either taking several minutes to load or not at all. Does anyone know of a good, free spyware or something that might help?

Well, I just finished up another year of youth group at church. I am a youth minister and I just finished up another year. I have to say that I'll be making many changes to make things better. If anyone would like to pray for me please do I know I can use them.

Just wanted y'all to know. Got fasterfox, yeah! Has helped some. UltraSentry, unfortunately didn't do much. But I downloaded the trial version of CounterSpy. It found 2 trojan fake alerts,75 mywebsearch, funweb products and a couple of other things. It's still slower than normal, but better than it was. Thanks y'all! I knew if I asked here, I'd find answers! Edit- I went to add some pics to my files and there are no files! All of my pics are gone!

I'm back. I'll have to move, and then I'll have to move again. Ah...the sweet military life. Iraq was fun. You know, like being kicked in the shin repeatedly for months is fun. That kind of fun. So, I return to a closing base. I don't know where I'm headed off to. But, who knows? You could wake up one day, look out your window, and see thatweirdgirl and manwithpez! Kinda like one of those Burger King commercials. Creepy.

I'm very new to this, so please don't think I'm an idiot. I bought the Firefly series on DVD last October just to see what it was all about. I wouldn't watch it when it was on TV because I was in mourning for Buffy and Angel. I didn't know what the hell I was missing out on!!! I can say that the money I spent on Firefly (followed the next day by Serenity) was the best 50 bucks I ever spent! I thought that maybe I was a little crazy with my new obsession, as I never spent time on the internet. When I did and found this sight, I was amazed. There are others out there just like me!!! So either we are all crazy, or Firefly was a life changing event for us all. Thanks for letting me rant!
Thursday, 17 May 2007 11:22:24
Sometime yesterday, my laptop ate all of my pictures! Please see the last 2 entries as I don't have the energy to write it all out again. If anyone can help, please pm me!

So i'm new to this site and I'm completely lost. Am not a usually computer geek, so a lot of this is new. Anyways about Firefly, I just watch the 2 dsk of the series and OMG, my absolute favorite. All the episodesare worth at least 3 watches. So i'm trying to figure out this site. and "this must be what it feels like to go mad."

Stories Stories Stories. There are so many Stories I would like to tell. But there is this one about a One-eyed Bounty Hunter. Her name is Scorpion. And she ain't no Mary Sue. She's got real problems- including an overactive libido,no past, several ghosts haunting her-including Jubal early. Its entitled La Escorpion and I have been working on it for awhile now.And with the help of my beta Jetflair- I got better. But she has real-lifeitis now so i need to get a new Beta. I need someone with patience and with understanding. And someone who could guide me as well as help me edit quickly and efficiantly. Sometimes chapters flow from me and sometimes it'll take me a week to write. So what i am saying is i need help...or else i will go insane from lack of writing ..which is a short drive actually

For those of you who were wondering where I went, I didn't die! (Think about it, if I had died, would I be writing this? I don't think so) I know that I have been gone longer than I had advertised, and probably will not be on for at least a week after this. I will try to post tonight, but no promises. I have to write a paper. Anyway, just thought I'd fill everyone in. I miss you guys so much!
Thursday, 17 May 2007 23:45:55
So the end of the school year is approaching which means it's time for all hell to break loose! We recently (as a class) did a few bake-sales as part of a "Business and Stock Market Research" project, because aparently stock-brokers and baked goods are just so similar. Anyway now we have to a self-reflection type report on the project. One of the questions for the report is "What have you learned about yourself over the course of this project?"... I'm sorry but we were selling f***ing cookies! Since when did anyone ever experience some sort of life-altering revelation because of a cupcake? I just found that report kind of stupid but it's not the worst of it. Our English teacher expects every assignment we do to be some sort of masterpiece and well, that's just not the way stuff goes all the time. So we have a big short story project to do. We have these Geography/IT presentation... crap due tomorrow! We have a health assignment due next week sometime which wouldn't be such a big deal if we didn't have all this other stuff to do. I'm pretty sure we have a Science test next week based on info from the entire year so I'm gonna have to study like crazy but I'm pretty good at Science and I enjoy it (unlike everyone else) so I should do OK. Our music teacher is the best though! She's the one who I convinced to watch Firefly which she loved and watched with her husband. It turns our some of her friends are big Joss fans so she's gonna be borrowing Buffy and Angel soon. Our end-of-year Music assignment is awesome. You get to form groups and play whatever song you want with whichever instruments you want (I finally get to play my bass!). I'm in two groups, one with my girlfriends playing some song that has about 3 notes, pretty boring but they needed me and I'm there. My other group is a bunch of guys, which includes a very talented drummer and guitarist so that'll probably rock. One of my friends in the girl group is kiind of mad about me joining both groups but It's not a huge deal, I'm pretty sure she'll get over it (I really hope so anyway). On top of all of this most of our teachers hate us (our class can be so horrible so it's understandable). I tend to get along pretty well with my teachers so it's all cool. Our French teacher will probably give us something to do soon, because that would just be ever so covenient, I really don't like him he's just oozing with creepy vibes. In a couple weeks our school is going to camp so it'll be a much needed break from the madness. I just needed to get that off my chest, I'm not being the bratty little kid (at least I'm not trying) but it's just been kind of stressful at school lately and I had a bad day. I'm planning on doing some fic writing and actually finally learning a martial art (my dad is a martial artist) I also plan on learning spanish (again with the dad). I guess that's what summer's for. Ugh... I really have to get back to homework now but I'll check back in on the boards later.

Going Through The Motions. Every single night The same arrangement I go out and fight the fight Still I always feel This strange estrangement Nothing here is real Nothing here is right I’ve been making shows of trading blows Just hoping no one knows That I’ve been Going through the motions Walking through the part Nothing seems to penetrate my heart I was always brave And kind of righteous Now I find I’m wavering Crawl out of you grave You find this fight just Doesn’t mean a thing Vampire: She ain’t got that swing Buffy: Thanks for noticing Demon and vamps: She does pretty well with fiends from hell But lately we can tell That she’s just Going through the motions Faking it somehow Demon: She’s not even half the girl she-ow… Buffy: Will I stay this way forever Sleepwalk through my life’s endeavor Handsome young victim man: How can I repay- Buffy: -Whatever I don’t want to be Going through the motions Losing all my drive I can’t even see if this is really me And I just want to beeeee... Ok,here's the new lowdown. I recovered about 160 pics yesterday ( including my file of saved Mike Phillips images) and now have them copied to cd and most uploaded to my bucket. The laptop was extremely slow all day, had a 2" grey bar at the bottom of my browser, and if I closed Firefox to search my C drive, I had to restart to get firefox back up. Last nite I re-downloaded firefox, upon restarting it got rid of the grey bar and now there is no need for fasterfox! I now see red underlines for misspelled words, even here, how cool is that! Also last night I found a file with all of my pic files listed- lost and new. When I try to open with Windows pix viewer, it says no preview available. Now each folder has a listing for last activity and how big the file is. Anybody know why it would say file size if there was nothing there? I found, but haven't downloaded yet, a digital recovery program called Recuva. It's by the same people that make Crap Cleaner, which I love. Does anybody have any experience with it? Thanks again for all the shiny browncoat support!

I'm usually not a "worst day ever" kind of rant person. But, between Veronica Mars being cancelled, the Cubs giving up five runs in the bottom of the ninth against the Mets, and the Bulls being eliminated - I have to say what the hell. There it is. Anyway, does anybody have any advice for becoming an excellent networker? I just finished school. My teaching certificate is in the mail, so I'm looking for jobs while trying not to lose my mind or my creative interest in music. I don't want to be a robot, or a prison warden when I get my first teaching job.

Yesterday (May 17th) was Norway's constitution day/national day... cant think of the English word. It was parades drunken high school seniors, national dresses and carnival (the thing with carousels and tickets and prizes) I'm not really all in to this celebration but me and my friend decided to visit the carnival and had a lovely time... It helps to bring out the inner child sometimes.. The constitution is something to celebrate I suppose, but its all the marching bands and flags and the fuss I dont really care for. Norwegians is kind of crazy bout this day

As I've made note before, I've got three fanfics going at once - 'When in Rome' being the first to get written and eventually posted. HOWEVER, I realised the other day that I'm raising steam pressure much quicker on the third one than on the second. All three are sequential (same characters and a certain thread that will be tied off in the third one), and here follows their time line: WiR - during series, second fic - post-series, third fic - post-BDM. The second fic can more or less stand alone, it really only has one scene that's needed to link the other two. So I've been debating the last couple of days whether to complete and post the third fic before the second, since it's coming along so much quicker. Or would that be too Foxy of me, to air them out of sequence? I'd like to hear what all you fine Browncoated folk think (KayleeGirl, you especially, if you get a second to read this). Just please don't say do whatever I want, OK? I really want to hear other folks' opinions here. Much with the xie-xie!

I was so pissed this morning. First off, let me say that I am ADDICTED to movies. I have a DVD collection of around 500 DVDs, and I have them all in alphabetical order. So I know when one is missing. So I go into my cabinet this morning to find that my first season of Weeds is missing. This isn't the first time this has happened, so I call all the usual suspects, and all of them said they didn't have it. So now I'm stuck having to buy it again, it really is a shame when you can't trust your own family.:disappointed:

Hi there, So, I went out with Bobby and John to Durham yesterday. It started off fun. We ate in the Waterhouse (is that what it's called? I'm not sure), then we wandered around the city centre for a while. After that we went to the Swan and sat on the grass outside. John got some beer in a really cool glass and decided he wanted it. So we decided to liberate it, hence the title of the blog, it's not stealing it's collectivism in action; which is my excuse for letting him take it. Then we went to the Angel. I like the Angel, althought the toilets leave a lot to be desired. They were disgusting. Also, John phoned Karl to ask him what the score was in the cup final. Only Karl didn't even know it was cup final day. Hell, even I knew and I'm a girl. So, John got really drunk. Bobby asked if he would get back to Wheatley Hill before throwing up and I said he probably wouldn't get to Gilesgate Bank. In his credit, he did get that far but then he puked up all over the bus at Dragonville so we had to get off. And did anyone on the bus help us? No. At least the woman at the bus stop was nicer and she talked to us until my dad came to pick us up. So that was my day. Not what I planned. What I planned to do was watch Doctor Who and revise. Speaking of which; I really should do some revision. The exam is in twelve days. TTFN Jennifer -x-

So the weather has finally decided to resemble spring. Yesterday it was hot enough for people to venture outside without jackets. The spring finally coming also means that its hippie season. I sat home last night, watching tv (alrigt I was watching Firefly.. again) and suddenly one of the worst sounds that I know thunders through the walls. African drums and didjeridoo.. played badly I might add. Whats wrong with a guitar...? If you're a mediocre musician a guitar should be more than enough to express your feelings. And it wouldnt disturb the neighbours nearly as much. But a guitar probably isn't alternative enough for these people.. No we have to sit outside by a fire and play some form of tribal instruments from far far away...badly. I'll tell you something you gorram hippies.. I have more alternativeness in my little finger than all of you put together. If it's so frakking nessesary to find some kind of roots (exactly whos doesn't matter apparently) and come in closer contact with nature or whatever... Move out of the city!! Play your instruments outside your own little tent resembeling a tipi!! Shoo..!! As I said Im not a mad bitter angry old lady.. I just sounds like one sometimes.. more often during hippie season. If you consider yourself a hippie please dont be offended (unless you've played native outside my house).

I just spotted the upcoming movie 'Sands of Oblivion' with Morena Baccarin and Adam Baldwin playing Alice and Jesse Carter, I could stand to hear a little more. Cheers Bryce.

I can't do this. I give up. It's official. Throughout the last month, it's been dawning on me occasionally that I have alot on, in a short space of time, but I've made plans (ok, I've thought of plans, I didn't actually write anything down) to try and handle it all. I've felt ok-ish about it, you know? The temptation to hit my head against a wall until I knock myself out has been less than in previous times of stress. But last night, the reality of it all just hit me like a wrench to the head. My exams start in 4 days, and I haven't done any reading or revision for any of them. Even the open book exam is looking impossible, because the textbook for the module is bloody useless!! I'm getting increasingly worried about the CSTS screening I'm organising. I keep coming up with lists of new things to do all the time - I think I'm on top of it all, and then BAM! Something else is thrown at me. I'm not regretting my decision to organise it at all but I wish the timing could have worked out a bit better. Also, my funds are running looooow. I seriously need to find another part-time job for the summer, but it's so hard when people never get back to you! I can bust my butt sending out 20 CVs and I'll be lucky if I get 2 replies. It SUCKS. I still have my current job at the chemist but I've been wanting to try something different alongside that for a long time now, and I missed out on getting a new job last summer, so if it happens again, I will cry. But looking for a new job is just another stress to add to the pile I'm buried under. I'm just going to go crawl in my bed, and stay there for a month, ok? Call me if anything interesting comes up...

Just a few things, for any who are curious: Ami and the boys are moving back in next weekend. We are going to attempt to be roommates, for financial reasons and also so we can both be there for the boys. If something happens between us romantically, it's a bonus. The 76th is still strong and growing stronger. We have our second shindig this weekend, and it looks like we will have a good group there. Pictures are sure to follow at some point. 100 days until D*C. Can't wait to see everyone. :) My next 3 batches of beer will be ready by this weekend (it was designed as such to have them in time for the shindig). Caffeinated Candy Beer, Dark Cherry Stout, and Breakfast Stout. Want any? I really do intend to finish my fanfic that I was writing, I just don't ever make time for it. ~jimi

AHH!! I just got 2 puppies on Thursday night!! They're SO cute. They're golden retrievers, brothers. Their names are Tucker and Luka. The rest of my family didn't like Xander, Giles or Hoban (my 3 fav. male characters of Joss'). :( I really wanted to name on Hoban, he didn't look like a Wash, just Hoban, it was weird. But I'll live, if only because they're so riddiculusly adorable you can't even stand it. Aww.

Well, nothing really interesting has been happening to me of late, but I felt like updating. Firstly, I've finished my essay. And by finished, I mean its written and printed, though I do need to annotate the script alongside it and put it in order. Actually I might do that now... I went to the EngSoc ball the other night, got very drunk (suprise surprise) and had lots of fun. On Wednesday my Mam and Nan are coming visiting since it's my sis's birthday. But since my exam is on Thursay I'll only be meeting them for lunch. I should spend the rest of the day revising like a mad thing. I really hope I do. My last exam is on Friday - thank God I only have two. The Friday one is gonna be hard simply because out lecturer was terrible, not to mention spoke so softly in his dulcet dutch accent that I actually only heard about every fifth word. So I've pretty much had to teach myself that module myself. Which sucks, because it's historical linguistics - which means a lot of things to remember which aren't in any form of English you can actually understand. So, this has been one hell of a boring blog post. Something interesting.... erm? I'm already half way into writing the Sequel of Job Satisfaction. Oh, and I promise I will start posting that soon. It's just in the beta-ing process. That be all, methinks. Hope all is shiny. xxxx P.s. Can anyone tell me how to put pics on these blog entries? I've always wondered.

Last time I said that my first season of Weeds was missing (Still haven't found it by the way). So I go in there today, and now The Omen is missing!! Nobody's been here, so I'm thinking the same person that stole Weeds also stole The Omen. I'm so tired of this......

This will be old news to some of you, but for anyone else that don't know, me and Scotty are on our way over the pond. It's all been confirmed, all been booked - from Saturday 29th September the lovely people of Houston, Texas are gonna have to deal with me and Scotty Taylor for a couple of weeks! Needless to say, I'm proper excited! I've never been to the States before, and all my life I've been obsessed with Texas. I've always wanted to go, and now I am! Oh yes! Anyhoo, that's all for now, just a lil' update 'bout what's going on my life at the mo.

When I first started posting my Maya fanfics, if anyone had said I would be writing Rayne smut, I would have said no way. Actually, I’d probably have have said lao-tyen, boo, but that’s personal. In just the same way as, to me, Mal and River is a pairing uncontemplatable (yes, that is a word – now), so was River and Jayne. Our favourite mercenary’s older than Mal, for a start, he’s a killer, not too bright … then I started to write him. And I suddenly saw he had a softer side. From the story JAYNE’S KID he began to insinuate himself into my affections, which to someone who adores Mal is downright unsettling. But I would still have said … Jayne and River? Uh uh. Then she started to show up. Appearing in my fics, watching him while he worked out. Spooking him. Making him all kinds of uncomfortable. As the series progressed with other characters taking the forestage, there was this little rumbling going on the background, mostly Jayne swearing in Chinese, I’ll admit, but it was there. Then came the revelation. PROPOSAL saw Jayne and River actually conversing, like adults. Well, almost adults. And therein lies the rub. Perhaps they’re actually closer in age than we think … she’s never really had a childhood, he’s never left his … Anyway, after BIRTHDAY it’s Jayne who helps River the most. This was, I admit, getting creepy. Characters were taking over as stories like SOLOMON flowed fully formed from my fingers, and JAYNE’S NIGHT made the point that she was having an effect on him. And all through this Jayne was becoming more … human, showing other skills than just killing people. Then the crunch came in THE NURSERY, when they talked, and Jayne seriously began to doubt himself. Then the spanner that was Jethro arrived, and the works ground to a halt. Fights, arguments ensued, until with Jayne leaving Serenity I really thought it was over, and I breathed a sigh of relief. But it was a temporary respite only. True love can never be honestly contained. It has been a learning curve for me too, seeing two characters grow and develop, almost like watching two of my oldest friends fumble towards love. But here they are, and now, with fanfares and accorded drums, we come to STEALING A KISS, NC17 smutty Rayne in which the relationship is finally consummated. Enjoy! (Oh, and those of you who don't OCs can still read this ... there's barely a mention!)

May I trouble my fair readers for some honest opinions? We've all read (or at least I have - ugh) a few of those unrelentingly dark, "never-ending abuse" stories. I for one hate them. So it gets my attention in a hurry when a long-term reader comments that they are losing enjoyment in the story for that very reason. It's absolutely not the sort of thing I want to write. This is a dark period of the story, and according to my current plan it's going to get even darker…..but now I'm questioning that decision. I've got a problem with this fic, in that a number of people have told me privately that it's too – fluffy – for lack of a better word, that to be realistic I need to make it darker. I have never quite agreed with that, but I wonder if the peer pressure has had some effect? Mal, of course, does not end up actually serving his sentence – in fact both he and Wash will be free and moving on to happier times *relatively* soon. But….there are some very tough times ahead…..he'll pass through it soon enough and all that, but honest opinions on if soon enough is actually soon enough would be welcomed! I can try to lighten things up, shorten the dark bits, etc. if need be. If I'm crossing the line into being one of "those" writers who seem to be merely putting the characters through unrelenting hell for love of the angst factor....please tell me now? So I can save myself and the story?

So I come home last night and go into my DVD cabinet and what do I see...... The Omen has magically reapeared!!! Weeds is still gone though, wish they'd have brought that back instead. I was gone most of the evening, so I don't know who took it, or put it back.

I've delved deeper into the reason I'm ticked about not having MY car at 21. I've now realized that, it's not just the lack of the car, but WHO has the car! My little brother has the car that was meant for me. He has recently shown that he doesn't really deserve the car. He's done some things mostly teenage slacking off things that to me say, "I don't really care about anything right now." This coupled with the fact that he gets the car, I had to wait until I was nineteen and a half to get, handed to him at sixteen, says that my parents are still making my decisions for me, while letting my little brother do whatever he wants. Also, when I tried to broch the subject of letting me have more time in my car, my parents basically ignore my side and tell me that lil bro' needs the car to drive to school, when he can just as easily take the bus like I did throughout highschool. Oh yeah, life's fair that way! JOSSIS(still)AGOD!

...No. Goodbye. I'm sick. I'm tired. My Mei-mei is in the ER (Again) for somethimg intentionally vauge about her stomach and bowels and what-not. I'm stumbling around like a drunkard. I can barely keep my eyes open as it is. I'm pretty sure that my clock is lying to me; it has ta be a Thursday. I want to crawl into bed and not get out until next Tuesday. And I have to make a Video of Macbeth for English. Life sucks. Death's a Party. Conspicuously NOT having fun yet, -Danny

While shopping at Walmart the other day, I picked up the cheap massive skein of black yarn they had there. I only got one, hoping I'll only need one to get both sleeves done. It will probably take only one skein. I've tried a different way of doing it though. I can't knit well yet, so I'm trying this in crochet: Chain enough to go a little bit longer than it would fit around your upper arm. Chain one extra, wrap string around hook, skip one chain and only hook half of the stitch. It will now look like three loops around the hook. Wrap yarn around hook and pull through. Finish out row, chain one and turn, skipping one stitch. (So you don't get shrinkage) I don't think it's a recognized crochet stitch, but it gets that same linked look almost like knitting. It almost looks like: knit two, purl one. (I think...) Once it's foiled (which I now have the website for) it should look very similar to the knitted chainmail. --- I'm being so lazy. Perhaps because my uniform's almost completed? I REALLY need to arrange for my sister to have a rifle and pistol, but I'm not visiting the armory thread at the 76th site to arrange for her to borrow them. I've already got my weapons, so I'm covered. Daisy isn't though. Luckily, with her uniform she can be a grunt or sniper, so whichever gun we get a hold of will work just fine. --- Got the material for my scarf the other day. I've been looking at a bunch of people's uniform status and a lot of them are not showing that they've got their scarves. When I went to Joanne fabrics, I picked up some cheap red fabric to make our scarves out of for Daisy and I, so I've got plenty of extra. It should be enough to make at least two or three extra ones. I'm considering just making those extra and packing them in the suitcase in case anyone forgets theirs. I'm ALSO thinking of picking up some small ice packs like the ones that go inside kids' lunchboxes. Soft sided ones that are about half the size of a sandwich. I was on a costume website yesterday and they have them for 'mascot' costumes as well as an entire VEST of cooling gel. Atlanta in late August is going to be murder. I figure if I pick up a few, we can tuck them away inside the folds of our scarves to keep cool.

So my desktop has decided to break. So I had to put the internet on my laptop; which is extremely annoying as the battery keeps dying. And it also means that I can't use photoshop. And it also means that all the wallpapers I have been working on will probably be lost. That's a shame, 'cos I quite liked them. So don't expect anything from me until the computer either gets fixed or my mam buys a new one. Also, the computer engineer dude came out today to look at it and while he was here it didn't freeze once. The second he left, it froze again. It's sod's bloody law, isn't it? TTFN Jennifer -x-

I wish my life was a movie, not in the conventional way, that there would be a plot (at least) but more in the way that it would stand for something. The title of it would be something like: We're lost, but we're making good time. Of course it's a famous quote and after going through the fan I'd probably change it I'm lost, but making good time, because I'm conceited that way and the movie is supposed to be about me, but then I'd change it back after figuring that perhaps the title isn't supposed to relate to just my mixed up teenage life, but the fact that the world in general seems to have no idea where the fuck they're going, just that they're gonna get there. It would not be a very good movie, it wouldn't have (conventional *wink*) adventure, but it would probably be deep and completely involved with my head. Which should be entertaining and meaningful enough :P. Everyone sees the sunrise different and thoughts are unquie. So you would hear mine, and the persons next to me, perhaps I'd hear it too and make a cynical remark about said person to my viewers.... It was so hard for me to choose what to write about because a lot of random things happened that I felt the need to explain. I wish I could live in a place where it would rain for days. I'm so sick of this pussy Manitoba rain, where it drizzles for a while then disappears. I want thick sheets of rain with a consistancy that lasts for days! To such a point that when it finally stops I can go and meet the sun again. Yesterday after working from 2pm-8pm on a excrutiating long history assignment, I was unable to form coherent sentences and decided I needed a break. So I donned my coat and orange crocks (with socks) and wandered the wet rainy street. I greeted the outdoors as if I were a dramatic writer, who had shut themselves away from the world in a dark dingy room with only the computer screen for light, living like this for weeks. I had pounded the keys confessing the secrets of the world, the flaws that could only be explained surrounded by a plot and the perfect character. You may wonder how I could relate the process of writing a genius novel to that of my history project, and I'll tell you. They're both complete bullshit. Sure the facts are there, we all know World War One happened and it's not its authenticy I'm calling bullshit (that's the Second war :P) its how I came across the facts and paraded them around my page like a pompus scholar who knows all there is to be said. After walking for a while I came across a large puddle and was faced with an inexplicable urge to jump into the very centre of it. Perhaps I needed to experience soggy socks, but I did. Jumped right in, then continued down the street jumping and kicking up water from any puddle that needed to be distrubed. Thoughts ran through my head like fire and I soon I was running my hand over the surface of cars parked on the road covered in rain drops. I thought about how much I loved the gray skies and how badly I would love to run away and never come back. Run to a place where the sky meets the ground and I wouldn't have to worry about money or food, I could just exist in the clouds. I jumped in another puddle as a car drove by. What did it matter anyways? *splash* What was all this worth? I thought of people and their expectations, and their silly thought processes. I thought as if I wasn't a person, I was something else watching them. That's usually how I think, leave myself out, like this life doesn't count me. I don't think it does too horribly, reality has always gotten me down. I had no where else to go and eventually arrived back at my house, my history project looming menacingly in front of me, like that of Frankenstien's monster. I layed down in the middle of driveway and wished the drizzle would become something much more substantial than what had already slicked my bangs to my forehead. I wished to be swallowed by the sky. Presently I was interupted by my (seemingly dramatic) moment by a neighbour -"Meghan, are you alright?" I replied-" Yes, I'm just taking a break from my hi

So, a couple days ago (Mon night I think) I was watching the daily show on comedy central with my wife. We were chatting during the break when out of the corner of my eye a commercial caught my attention. Now it seemed as though it was just another condom commercial, but there was an added product in it. Something along the lines of a vibrator. One of those ring things that go on the guys thingy with some vibrator thingy attached to it. I wasn't offended by any means. It just showed the product (briefly) and that was it. But, it certainly did surprise me that something like that is starting to be advertised. I guess such things have become somewhat less taboo, eh?

Mommy MUST protect her little bas...I mean..boy! So, lil bro' comes home yesterday, with the license plate and license plate holder torn off of MY CAR! Then mom and lil bro start to act like the car our mom and dad payed to have set up for ME is only lil bro's! So, I've FINALLY turned our father to my way of thinking, but, MOM jumps in to defend her poor defenseless son, who has basically now just gotten away with damaging MY CAR! So, now that lil bro' has gotten away with the car our parents set up for me, he's happy and I'm STILL stuck at home to get even more PISSED! Should I just give up and realize that even though I SHOULD have the car by this point I'll have to wait until I get a job in the next ten years to FINALLY have my car!

Still feel like sleeping... only until Sunday, though. Feeling slightly better, as inj I can go to school. Seems that I missed out on a History Test and finding out that I had an Essay to do today in English. Better news- Mei-mei is out from her night in the ER- she had a bladder infection or somesuch, and has some pill or other to take every six hours. I am, mostly, left in the dark. Something to do in Creative Writing now- am conspicuously not doing it (Instead am typing a blog:evil:). Life still sucks. But Death's a Rock Concert. -Danny

ASHTON 'ASH' MERCER- stolen from his family, Ash became a slave at age 6. He was sold to his first and only owners at 12, and suffered horrific pain at their hands for 6 years until he managed to escape; but was recaptured by a bounty hunter (not Early) shortly after. Luckily the crew of Serenity intercepted. He is haunted by nightmares of his past and refuses to tell anyone what happened to him, except River, whom he feels a strange connection to. Ash is stronger and braver then he believes, and hopes one day to find the family he lost. He looks to Jayne as a brother figure (God help him) and even if she refuses to believe it, he is deeply in love with River. Appearance: Looks like Garrett Hedlund, ‘Jack’ from Four Brothers. But with some scars. TAYLOR BRANDON- the only child of her companion and politician parents, Taylor grew up on Osiris next-door to Simon and River, the trio became almost inseparable and both S+R consider her a sister. She left Osiris (when 16) after falling in love and pregnant with her now husband Daniel. Taylor is fiercely protective of those she loves and often comes across as annoying and bitchy; few know of them, but she has reasons. Now a mother of two, Taylor never regretted leaving the Core, but wishes she could have done so on better terms with her parents. Her latest adventure with the crew threatens to reveal a terrible secret from her past. Appearance: Looks like Ali Larter, ‘Niki/Jessica’ from Heroes DANIEL BRANDON- the oldest of 5 brothers, his father died fighting as a Browncoat, leaving Daniel as the ‘man of the house’. Desperate to support his brothers and mother, he took a high-paying job several planets away, sending most of his pay back home. While working there, he met Taylor (who was on vacation) the pair fell hard and when she had to go home he followed her to Osiris. But didn’t forget his family, he still worked and sent them money. Though shocked when Taylor told him she was pregnant, he handled the situation well (kinda) and took her back to his home on Vermillion. Daniel values his family more than his own life and would do anything for any of them. He occasionally feels the life Taylor has now is insulting compared to what she could have had in the Core; if she hadn’t met him. Appearance: Looks like Dominic Purcell, ‘Lincoln’ from Prison Break, but with longer, spiked hair.

I look at my students and, for the most part, think they are pretty good kids. Sure they can be annoying, rude, and difficult, but they really are trying to do the best they can. I am a little worried though as they head out there...the world is not friendly and they are ill equipped to deal with it because all school has become is a place where we spend all year working on the material contained in a single test so that we will not lose our jobs and so that our students will be prepared to pass the final test of high school that will give them their all important diploma. Gone are all the real world life lessons we used to teach. Gone are the hands on , project based lessons. Gone are the activities and the memorable experiences, and the lessons that provide students the opportunities to develop and grow as a person...So when you look for the future of America and think of those who will become world leaders, doctors, lawyers, business people, you'd better hope the only crisis they face is one involving a multiple choice test.

woooooooo, last day of school EVER tomorrow!! bring on college! lovely day today, consisting of signing everyone's shirts and yearbooks, and not a lot else. My yearbook needs some serious alterations, seen as the entire yearbook committee consisted of one group of friends, so its just them and their chavvy friends, winning all the awards etc. I sense some serious mick taking. It was really uplifting to read everyone's comments in my book, and my shirt, find out what people really think about me. However, little awkward when my mother wanted to read said comments, several of which were by my male friends about my none-too-decent adventures at a party I went to last week. All I will say is that I wanted to go in the pool. ahem. Quick thinking needed there! Anywho, quick change of subject! that was a beast of a party, but the boys I know should know me well enough by know that I am something of a party animal, and I will flirt with absolutely anything at all (unless it already has an SO, or a friend of mine is interested in it), without it meaning a thing, and so should not take me seriously and think that anything will be different the next day. I know, I have a problem, its gotten me into awkward trouble several times over the last few months. Is there perhaps a Flirters Annonymous I could join?? Holiday to Sark for a week tomorrow, yay! though I have to take revision instead of books this year :(. Lets hope its not like last year and we actually take off within two days of initial departure time! Well into my exams already, I've had a short course RE, citizenship, and an English lit, which Im pretty sure I failed, I suck at writing to time. But, the only good thing about exams is they mean that prom is soon! I'm so excited! I've got everything sorted, and I'll post piccies of me in my dress afterwards.

As if it wasn't enough that lil bro' swiped MY CAR, he now has two new cymbol stands for his drum set! It's his birthday today, and I know I'm supposed to feel happy for him, but all I feel is resentment and jealousy! Tomorrow is shiny. I get to order me a pistol replacement. And not just any pistol replacement. A custom made Mateba with break open cylinder action and custom barrel. Gorram thing is costing me a pretty penny but it will be worth it. Shiniest thing is the verse is a new gun. Specially one that is a signature piece. sure I could've copied ol Malcolm Reynolds or gotten myself some piece of high tech Alliance Luh Suh. But that ain't me. What I got in mind will remind people they are talking to Captain Caille Jensen and not some gorram wannabe of one of the 'verses Big Damn Heroes. Cpt. There's a couple of LJ communities that I check out from time to time. Yes, they're mathy type communities. But, from time to time there are things that get posted that are just hi-larious. This is one of them:

I started a Rayne story The Need and now it has spawned out of control into something else. I mean my Simon and Kaylee, Mal and Inara muses are at me hard core and I can't shut them up. I'm on vacation with My Booooo (come on everyone you remember that Usher\Alicia keys song) and I've just completed the outline for two more stories after The Wish. On of those stories has a character "death" DA DA DAAAAAAAA! Let's just say it's gonna be a muther f'er of a story to write, but I know you guys are gonna like it even with the character "death". BEB, had wrote me a comment about Saffron and not believing her "story" after she said she was "gonna get a core bred daddy" for her baby ( my favorite line of that chapter BTW.) Saffron is a screwed up individual and the next coming chapters of The wish and the following stories after will show that. :crap:Well I'm getting that get off the computer look from my BF. I will post a new chapter by tomorrow night. Good fight, and good night. JJ

So I had my Media Studies exam this morning (9:30 in the morning, evil!). It went ok-ish, I think. I kinda knew what I was talking about for the first question - probably because that was the only topic I really revised - but in the second essay I talked bollocks. Hopefully it's bollocks that can get me some marks! My friends and I generally felt rubbish about this exam, but surprisingly, we're all ok with failing. Our general attitude is "oh well, that's what resits are for!" To be honest, I don't care about it anymore, it's over and there's no point in stressing. Now for Case Studies in Cultural Studies and Social and Political Change in 20th Century Britain - those should be a doddle! *rolls eyes* But bring it, because as soon as they're over, relaxation is on the cards, woot. In happier news - I received more shiny prizes for my CSTS screening raffle, and the official t-shirts are getting shipped today. I'm so excited!!! I can't wait to get them, Jen and I are going to wear them out and about with the hope of spreading the word a bit. We actually came up with the idea of having a mock Firefly gun-fight in town, as a "publicity stunt" type thing. I reckon it'd be hi-larious! Ooh, my uni friends and I are going to see Pirates 3 tomorrow, after our exam. YAAAAAAAAASSSS, I CAN'T WAIT!!! I've only been looking forward to this movie since I saw Pirates 2 last year. It's gonna be good :-D Anyway, I should go do some revision. Have a good weekend all! Peace out, Sadia :-)

We're all moving targets. We talk and walk around one another, tiptoeing until we're hit. Maybe it's another person, maybe it's simple words, but the arrow slices a hole somewhere in your body that gushes and fills with new. And we'll bleed the new out until it's old and pointless. Until it's a memory and then we exist, waiting for another arrow. My favourite T-shirt says "Don't let reality get you down." It's funny how easily it can do that. I live in my head, I see the outside world, but I'm a stranger peeking into a window, horrified with what I see and begging someone will close it. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to die, I just don't want to live; where I am. Where ever that is. At work yesterday it was overly dead for a period of time that let me contemplate the inexistance of white culture. Perhaps we have one, but its traditional foods are McDonalds, and our folk music preaches words demeaning to women like that of the bibles. Demeaning to everyone. Our tradional dress? Take your pick. Black, jeans, spandex? We go through fazes, and have labelled our own "culture" with subtitles shuffled them into a corner. Don't look upon me. Is no one safe from ourselves? I found my movie soul mate. At first I was going to say soul-mate, but having never met said person, it would be unfair to do so. Here's the story. My sister was supposed to take 'care' of a dog that lives down the street. She goes over to let the dog out and whatever else her duties towards it was supposed to be and returns minutes later. I ask "How are you back so soon?" -"It wasn't there." Believing strongly in the inability of dogs to turn invisable on will or dissipate I was skeptical. I went back to the house to help her find the invisible dog. (Maybe I should have brought powder, or paint, to throw in the direction of creaky floor boards) We searched each room, opened doors that perhaps he could be hiding behind, to no avail. The last place was the basement and I entered only to be faced with a Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail poster. I stood in awe and nearly dropped to my knees, until my sister said, "If you like that, look." I followed her finger to the left of me and found a Serenity poster. I have yet to tell this person that we are movie soulmates, but when I see him I'll be sure to get his attention. Arrow anyone? I'm ready to be famous. I'm tired of being unnoticed, not that I'm willing to do anything to change it. I just feel like I deserve some sort of recognition for being me. I look at the 'idols' of our media. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, people wonder whats wrong with the world and I tell them to look at our headlines. People are more concerned with who's head is bald and who's to blame for Paris driving that actual important worldly things go unnoticed. We've become such Media whores that the only way to portray the things that are wrong with the world is to have Jon Stewart tell us, and only then through satire, and I'm sure half the people of the world don't get it anyways. I think my ramblings deserve more attention then Anna Nicole Smith's property battle. So the world will sit by and be targets of this MISinformation. Let us be lead and hit with the stupidest things imaginable, but bleed us into submission. The things we deem important are the arrows stabbing the bleeding hearts of scholars all over the world. We are all Moving Targets. And no one can seem to find a place to hide.

I got a house. I got a decently priced house (I'm renting, mind you), and some equipment for it I can't mention yet, and I have TWG to thank for it all. She's coordinated, phoned, looked, etc. And she found me a house...well, actually, she's pretty much handled it all! She's on top of it! I'll get back to you more when I can. We're trying to swing D*C, plus I have to go back to work. 8 hour shifts with weekends off sounds like heaven after 72 hour work weeks. Also, NC is a lot better than Iraq. Also, I just watched Shawshank, and I'm very happy to have it finally on DVD. I think I had almost forgotten how good it was.

... But actually I did it to myself. So, I have been to the dentist in several years. Partially because of insurance reasons (damn medicare not covering dentists....), and partially because I dislike going. Unfortunately, lately I've been grinding my teeth something fierce while sleeping (or so the wife tells me) which has receded my gum line a fair bit. This combined with plague buildup because of the lack of visits, has given me a cavity (luckily only one). Not only that, but one of my fillings is failing (luckily on the same tooth), along with another one which will have to be fixed soon as well. But, here's the kicker. I found out I have early Periodontitis. Luckily only in spots, but it still sucks. So, what happened today was a cleaning. Which has made my sensitive teeth bloody freaking sensitive!!! That first gulp of Dr. Pepper this evening was quite the shocker! So, Monday I get my filling fixed and extended to the new cavity. I'm happy to have it done so soon, but the needle...

Hey, all. Just wanted to put it out there that some of the finest writing I've laid eyes on has been popping up lately hereabouts. Homespun, Jetflair, Mal4Prez, Slumming, CaptainVimes, just to name a few whose works I follow regularly, have put out absolutely not-to-be-missed work. I'm toiling mightily on another work, myself. I find it interesting, writing something original, and not ripping off in any way the works of my fellow fic-ers. But I must say, many thanks to the above-mentioned, and all those I haven't, for continually inspiring me to keep at it. Rob O.

I am so happy! Both exams went really well. In that, though they were tricky, there wasn't a single question where I got that horrible 'Crap! I don't know how to answer this' pang. They can really bum girl out. So, I'm confident that I've at least passed, which, after all is all I need in first year, and possibly done quite well, but let's not push it. Of course, we all know what that means... THREE MONTHS OF NON STOP FAN FICTION WRITING! *ahem* Going home for my sister's birthday today, then back in Newcaslte for my last week as a first year. My oh my how time has flown. Just think, a year ago, I'd never even HEARD of Firefly. How foolish I was. Okay, gonna stop rambling now. Love to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sigh... Of course it is being difficult.... ok spilt the story time... I beat my writers block have fun. This is part two. Read part one first. Cont.ed “How can you say that? I am everything you had a chance to teach me and more. I am strong and confident, but soft and caring. I have a career and a life and soon a family. It was hard without you, but I made it through in one piece. How can you look at me with such hate and call your grand child a blasphemy.” The angry look in her eyes waivers. For a moment I think she forgives. For a moment I think she realized her mistakes. For a moment I think I have the love of my mother back. “Roz!!!! Wake up!!! Please baby.” Adiana’s voice cuts through the plane, trying to draw me home. But I can’t go to her. I can’t go to her because my mother is keeping me here. “That’s why. This -that- isn’t what you where suppose to be. You where suppose to have it all; a life, a career, a family but most of all a husband. A husband, Rosalind, not some dyke slut. You where suppose to be normal. That’s why I can say that, because it’s the truth. You took all I gave you I had and more, I died rushing home to be there in the morning for you. I can say that, and I can punish you because of the wrong you’ve done. Its time for me to erase my mistake, before you can bring another to the world.” She wraps her hands around my neck and starts squeezing, start suffocating me. I can’t think, I can’t compute. My mother hates me because I was true to myself, because I loved and made a life with my soul mate. My mother was trying to kill me. Kill me for no other reason than whom I turned out to be. And not only was she going to kill me, she was going to kill my child; she was going to kill her grandchild. This why I got sick when I wore the cross. Because she was punishing me for what she thought I did wrong. My mother was trying to crush the last bit of life’s breath from my throat, and let that be my last memory of her. “Roz,” Adiana’s voice is there again, sounding strained and stained with tears. Like she’s mourning already, mourning us both, our child and me. “Please, not now. Come back to me baby. Please, please. I don’t want to lose you. I don’t – I don’t want to be without you.” She’s begging me to stay and I know I can’t leave her with out a fight. I shove my mother back and fall to the ground, gasping for breath. I feel the air, the life, fill my lungs again, and focus on my mother again. “Is that how it works.” I cough and sputter but stand up to face her. “You get decide I deserve your love only if I am a certain way?” I summon all my strength and stand straight, looking my once loved mother dead in the eye. I let my strength and anger call the moves. Anything else would be a burden and easily a defeat. And I can’t give up. “You know, a part of me can understand why you hate me, but nothing can justify hating this child, for hating your grandchild. What ever it is that made you hate me I did. Me, mom, and no one else. I am the one who is gay, I am the one who fell in love with a woman, and I am the one who didn’t fulfill your envisioned future. And if you have decided because of all this I don’t deserve your love, but only your hate and anger and rage, fine! But this child has done nothing wrong, and deserves the right to live. She deserves the right to see how far her mother’s love will extend. Just like I did.” "And why should I do that, when I don't even believe you deserved it." I am speechless for a moment and my anger boils over. I grab the cross around my neck and hold it up for her to see. "I kept and wore this cross to feel your love and presence in my life, because I didn't have it directly in my life. I had to grow up without you in it." Then it hit me. Why she was really mad. "You only hold a small portion of the responsibility for how I grew up, because you had no direct influence on most of the stuff I did with my life. You where there for my first kiss, my first love, my graduations or even there when I found my true love. And that must really piss

The logs have a problem with big posts... so I split my story. This is part one. I posted part two first. You should read it. A Mother's Love Two weeks before my mother died she told me I was her pride and joy. She told me this in the hallway outside my seventh birthday party as she fixed my curls and straighten my skirt. She knelt before me and stroked my cheek with tear filled eyes, making me wonder what I did wrong. Then she reached into her purse and handed me a small, square black box. “When I was a little girl I wanted to be a mommy like I am now. But most of all I wanted to have a little girl.” She opened the box, revealing a intricately designed gold and diamond cross. She gently took it from the box and draped it around my neck. “For the longest time I never thought I would have you. I thought I would be blessed with just your brothers. But here you are, my little angel, my perfect gift. That’s why I named you after me, Rosalind” She straightened the cross around my neck, and kissed my cheek. When she stood to lead me into my party she told me the one thing I will always remember. “This cross is a special gift so you know I will always be with you to teach and lead you.” That meant a lot to me, through the years I was without her. The night my mother died, I bleed. I didn’t injure myself or ‘become a woman’ as my friend’s mothers would say, but blood began to run freely and red from my mouth and nose. I woke up in the middle of the night because of the wetness, and was filled with terror. I went and woke my father, who rushed me to the hospital. They put me in a trauma room, and ran test after but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. My blood pressure was normal, and my blood count was normal. In the room next to mine I could see the doctors and nurses treating a car accident victim. I could hear the monitors beeping from my bed, and then I heard the beeping stop. When it did, my bleeding slowed down to a dribble. I could hear my father frantically trying to reach my mother, who had spent most of the weekend with her father, and should have been home an hour before. I could hear the doctors talk about find the other patient’s next of kin. I saw my father stop the doctor to ask him a question and stop short when he saw a card the doctor was holding. I could see the dead look in my father’s eyes from my bed, and I could see the sorrow on his face when he came over to talk to me. He didn’t need to bother. I already knew my mom was dead, I just knew. Over the years I learned to do without my mother direct guidance. My father didn’t know how to curl my hair; something my mother took pleasure into doing for me every morning, so I started wearing it braids or straight. My father didn’t know how fix a skirt neat on my frame, so I wore jeans. My father didn’t know a lot about girls, so I learned to be one of the boys. But still I tried to live my life the way I thought she would want me to. I tried to keep her proud. Over the years I grew and changed. I wore my mother cross only on special occasions, and learned to be strong on my own. And then my life changed. I was 19 when it happened. I didn’t know at the time what it was or it was happening but now I can pinpoint the very moment everything changed. It all changed when I meet Adiana and I feel deeply and madly in love. It all changed when I told the truth to myself and everyone else, and finally accepted myself. I was gay and I had meet my soul mate. Things started getting weird after that. Whenever I wore my mother cross I started getting sick. I would have headaches, cramps or get sick to my stomach. It went on for years, getting a little worst each time. Eventually I just stopped wearing it, knowing it was the necklace on subconscious level, I think. Knowing it was her gift was hurting me. Over the years I had a life. I went to college, and then law school. I got a job in a great firm. I made a life with Adiana. But something was missing. I didn’t just want a career and my soul mate. I wanted a family, a family with Adiana.

Hi there, Yes, I went out again yesterday with John, Andrew and Bobby. It was better than last week. John didn't get hammered and some really strange things happened. We had lunch at the Waterhouse (again). When me and Bobby went to the bar he told John and Andrew to watch his wallet. So they sat there and stared at it. They take things far too literally sometimes. Then we went to the Swan (again). When me and Bobby went to HMV to buy DVDs; John and Andrew were stood on Elvet bridge and some dude came up to John and asked if he knew where to get weed. When Andrew told me I couldn't stop laughing and we kept making jokes about it. None were particularly clever but we succeeded in annoying John. Then we went back to mine, watched Doctor Who and I helped Andrew make a slideshow of the photos we had tkaen before going to Bobby's house. In the car there, the seatbelt decided it wanted Andrew dead and he spent the entire journey nearly choking. I was no good and Bobby was nearly crying with laughter. Also when we dropped Andrew off at home, he was trying to get out the back of the car and he fell over and landed flat on his arse on the floor of the car. I would have killed for a photo of that. Just a final thing. Interesting but completely useless fact: if you type Smirnoff into a mobile phone on predictive text, the word that comes up is poisoned. Made me laugh. TTFN Jennifer -x-

I'm getting REALLY sick of this BULLSHIT! why do I get stuck with the moma's boy for a brother and get stepped on in everything I do!

Been a year since I last posted. Much has happen since I got home from Iraq. Most of it is good news, some not so good. I have been battling lung desease since last May...a painful struggle with some little happiness. I have stopped smoking...had too, really...and I won't say anything negative about that. I am hanging on and have a good chance to see this all through. I've moved to Indiana and continue to serve in the Army. The wife and kids are here with me, as well as the two dogs, two cats, ad the gerbil that will not die... Anyway, it's pleasent to be able to continue to write. take care, all.

I thought I had dad on my side, but he turned on me in the blink of an eye! He started spouting that I needed more practice before he'd feel comfortable letting me drive on my own. Problem is, I can't practice if I don't have a place to go or a CAR to go there! I will never win it seems!

Omg I'm dyingggggggggg. I NEED to listen to the new Circa Survive CD, but I won't be able to own it until tomorrow!!!!!!!! And I'm not eighteen, so I don't have a credit card, so I can't preorder it and have it..RIGHT NOW. And it's o so tempting to listen to the it on myspace right now, because I know it's there, and I know people have listened to it, but I also know that this computer zone is not where I want to first experience On Letting Go. Like, I've been waiting for how long, what's one more day? A fucking lifetime! And I know that HMV will not get 4 copies of it in and I know of four people in my immediate group of friends that are just as excited for its release as I am and now its a race to the mall. I also know it's going to be amazing because...it's Circa Survive, Anthony Green. How could it go wrong? That's my basic conundrum at the moment. Should I listen to it? Or should I stay strong and wait...an eargasm deserves to have complete consentration. I can't stop thinking about it. If you had to judge a book by its cover, I'd say this CD is going to kick some serious ass. The cover is to prettttty. I just want to open my veins and inject it directly into my body

The Wish Part Four and The Wish part 4 which is part 5. LOL! That's what I get for posting undercover on the bathroom floor of a five star hotel in Hawaii instead of enjoying a very large bed with my BF. I'm going to leave my flaw there until I post part six so you can all point and laugh at me. And a big sorry to those of you who wanted to read part four and got part 5 and ended up having to go back and click on part 4 and vice a versa :disappointed: Now to part six which is probably the most technical of the chapters because I'm writing Simon angst, Kaylee angst, and even Zoe angst. We have big surprises and family reunions and Male bonding between Mal and Jayne. Hopefully it'll be up by Wednesday... marked part 5, I mean 6.

You may not have noticed, shhhh, I know you haven't, but I've been missing for a couple of months. Frankly, between the end of the school year, exams, moving out, and a little trip to China I've for planned for the end of the summer, I'm swamped. But I broke out the ol' DVD box set of Firefly, and watched my fave episode; Objects in Space, and I knew I had to get back on soon for some old Browncoat lovin'. I was just recently at an anime convention called Animazement and I was wondering if any people from here where there cause I saw one Blue Sun t-shirt, and one Fruity Oat Bars t-shirt, so.... Also, I noticed that in Objects in Space Jayne says that he keeps his guns under lock and key, so River can't get to them, then I noticed that when he reaches up and pulls his blanket off the wall, they were hanging up behind it, just sitting there, for anybody to just reach up and get. That's so Jayne.

Hey there – I have never really been one for blogging, not really sure why. But I wanted to talk a bit about my new fic, and it occurred to me there’s this thing called a blog, where I can ramble to my hearts content and people can read or not, as they choose. Who’d a thunk it. Perhaps I should give it a try??? I am going to start posting “Underground” shortly. My husband is just giving it a final going over looking for typo’s. Of course it all belongs to Joss and Fox (read as disclaimer), I just enjoy telling more stories about them. I started writing ‘Underground’ two days after my grandmother fell and broke her hip in January. First because I needed something creative to do while I was sitting with her in the hospital day in and day out. But more importantly I needed a story where a woman, overcomes insurmountable odds to survive, with the help of our favorite big dam hero’s. I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated going to sleep at night thinking of how Mal and Kaylee and Co. are going to weasel their way out of the mess they are in, rather than becoming depressed about my grandma. Throughout the process, I have learned so much about writing. First and foremost that I really enjoy it. Mal4prez has been betaing for me. She has been wonderful, and has taught me so much. Not only about which typo’s I missed, but also given me new insights into how to structure dialogue and stay in a single point of view. She pointed out lots of things about the characters which helped me to make them much deeper more complex individuals. And she pointed out lots of little details and questions about the plot, which in my mind were answered, but did not show up actually written down in the story. She has also been really patient, constantly reminding me when my characters stop talking western and start talking all fancy. I really can’t thank her enough. So a bit about the story: It will be posted in 9 chunks, prologue, chap 1-7 and an epilogue. It’s set during the series, after Trash and before Heart of Gold. Far enough along that the crew has inkling about what’s going on in River’s brain, but before Inara decides she might want to leave. There are a handful of new characters. Otherwise the pairings are all cannon. Z/W; S/K and M/I, Although Inara is not around much in this fic. If I had to pick one character to say it focused on it would be Mal, but it’s not just his story. We will learn a touch about the pre-series lives of our BDH’s over the course of the fic. We also learn a lot about what greed can do to a person, and even more about generosity Anyway - I hope you like reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. – Desert Girl

I have been fortunate to find a great RPG group in my area and it was suggested to blog about the sessions so as to hopefully draw attention to how great the game is. First of all we found our group on Meet Up and we all met in a mutually safe gaming store in our area for our first session. I have a character modeled after Jayne Cobb and in fact her background history begins as a mudder on Higgins Moon which she was able to escape after some crazy wonderful guy dropped a buttload of cash on her village. Goose(her nick name, she won't tell her real one) took her share, hitched a ride with the next missionary group and took to exploring the 'verse looking for jobs that didn't involve mud. My hubby's character, Silas, is our face guy for the underground, finds us our jobs, gets us in with the right people. We lost our first captain after a barfight in Beaumonde, but managed, with the connections of Silas, to get out of jail and hook up with a crew doing some "salvage" in an Alliance dump space. Unfortunately, Silas snuck a stowaway on board, who, while OUR group was trying to find the booty in a derelict boat, this stowaway killed the crew and took our ride home. Thank goodness we have a kick ass mechanic that could get her running again, and low and behold our GM has bestowed upon us a Firefly which he later dubs *Scirocco*. We have one guy, Chase, mostly a gunhand, that BARELY had the skill to pilot, D2 or D4 skill roll, and we made a crash landing on Beaumonde. Thankfully the booty on board was enough to cover our repair costs and get ourselves some coin. After picking up a tight pilot that can actually FLY the ship, we've made a couple of Ice and Water runs in the meantime and delivered a new Sheriff to Regina. Unfortunately, this guy was a psycho, so on our next trip to Regina, the townsfolk are begging us to kill him dead. Barely managed that, with Goose playing "target" while better shots snuck up on the sheriff. The ceramic plate vests are great for soaking damage. Anyway, this last session we were asked to find them another sheriff on planet "plot device"(our GM's reference) where we picked up another good player and his character actually took "cooking" as a skill, so our eats were good, even in Real Life because our GM's wife makes rice crispy treats for our sessions. So Silas finds us a contact with a guy on the water planet, Newhall, and this is great because we're thinking if we can't take this job, we can transport more water at least. Well Newhall is like a resort planet with pools and cabana's but no guns allowed so I stay on board, our Doc and Pilot though, take advantage of the place making time with the ladies while Silas and the captain set up our next job with the contact. Unfortunately, it wasn't an actual paying job, it was a get to know you job and the crew were none too happy, but both Silas and the captain talked us down and explained pirate politics. Either way the first portion of our job was a success, thanks to Goose intimidating the victims into jumping off their boat. This was a pearl boat on water, not a space boat, so nobody jumping into deep space. Anyway the second portion of the job was talking our contact's "side girl" into leaving the planet without killing her or raising a ruckus. One of our gunhands "Rez" had the best moment in this encounter when he suggested to this woman that she should come with them without a fuss and she replied that if they tried anything funny without showing the cred stick they'd been given as compensation, she'd scream "rape" and Rez retorted with a thoughtful, beard stroking "Touche" LOL!! about the best line of the night!! So we pull off the pearl heist and we pull off the relocation effort and then comes the REAL job, stealing silk and burning down a factory. Our mechanic is also talented in demolitions so he contrived a flash bomb that looked like a spare part and the group was in and out in nothing flat, but then we got boarded by Alliance heading back to Beaumonde (our delivery point) Again our GM was gentl

Or at least it'll be me in grade 9 for one more month. Yes, boys and girls, friends and enemies, I'm all growded up since my first post here, back when I was actually 13, age-wise. It's gonna be High School Confidential, bay-bee. Now, few months back, during a wish-corruption (which was trumped by Pain, Lord rest his soul) I spouted off about being all anxious and crap towards this high school thing, leaving Tiny Town. Now, I ain't so sure. There's gonna be a bit more respect and tolerance towards me, (although some folks ((especially a gal they call 'E')) have tolerated and respected me hella lot more than they should) which is all cool, but there's gonna be loss. Everyone I know is leaving for another school, and little old-young 13 is making his way in a hostile environment alone. Kay, maybe not hostile, but definitely foreign territory. I 'spect I can handle it, though. Been through worse stuff before, and I will later. And the impending loss in the real world isn't the only loss; a blow has been struck on my semi-real self, a blow dealt in the virtual world: LOS, Life Onboard Serenity, Come To The Galley, whatever the hell you wanna call it, is dead. Done. Ka-goddam-put. This burns me. LOS was my home from home, where I went to unwind, the place to slip into an identity that I needed, and still need, to keep my mind off things best temporarily unminded. Now it's gone, no more psychopathic angst-ridden emo androids for me! (just ignore that last bit) I quote Young: 'out of the blue, and into the black.' That describes the fate of LOS perfectly, I think. Well, I've still got some time left at the BDV, (www.bigdamnverse.net) my LOS back-up, before I cancel out for the last time. I'll stick around here, though. Some people still saying stuff that needs to be said and read. Might even post a picture or two. -with love and confusion, B '13' S

That problem being that i can't think of a suitable way to end my 'The Hunter and the Hunted' fanfic. Wait... let me rephrase that. I can't think of a way to kill off my o.c. 'the Hunter'. This may seem an odd sort of problem but i really want to kill him off, i'm absolutely sick of being inside this guys head and to be honest it's starting to freak me out just a touch. For those of you unfamiliar with the character he is the Operative's successor and an attempt by Alliance scientists to combine the cold, calculated intelligence of an Operative with the wild, beastial nature of a Reaver. So basically what you have here is the perfect assassin who is also absolutely insane. On one level he is cultured and intelligant and just a little bit charming and on the other he is liable to tear your throat out with his teeth (sort of like a more extreme version of the Nikki/Jessica character from Heroes). Read the fanfics below for more info they all feature him. As an added bonus he seems to have acquired a sort quasi-psychic/emotion link with River (again read the fics). So, crazy guy who is faster, stronger and can easily out smart anyone on the crew except River and whose view of the the 'verse makes River at her craziest look perfectly sane. Any ideas are gladly accepted.

So I am sorry to those readers out there who were enjoying Ciuclar Irony and then it just stopped. As much as I would like to think it was pregnancy that killed my creative juices I just don't know nowadays. For some reason I just can't find their voices. Know matter how hard I try. So I apologize to all of those who are hoping for an ending. Thank you all for the feedback, it did help me when it could.

So i was driving on Sunday in Virginia when I saw a guy driving with license plates that said River Tam. I wanted to honk at him but then realized I didn't know how to let him know what I was honking at...a missed browncoat opportunity

Good morning my fellow browncoat friends. Well just felt like it was time for a little blog update. First up has anyone seen the Star Wars special playing on the History Channel this week? Our master of Firefly is on there. I’ve caught only part of this show but Joss himself makes an appearance and has several comments about SW. Maybe he can talk Mr. Lucas into helping out with some backing of bringing back a little space project he started in 02. Second thing on the menu is, I’ve started recruiting for several more browncoats down at work. Up until now it’s been mostly family I’ve tried to bring into the fold. I’ve had some success and everyone I’ve show the series to likes it, but not everyone “gets it”. Anyway a fellow co-worker down at the factor and I have been talking about movies and tv shows for a while. He brought me a movie to bring home to watch. Well since he opened the door I responded with bringing him my loaner copy of FF, we’ll see what happens. I’ve also talked with another co-worker that is newly employed by the company. He said he’s seen the BDM Serenity and loved it. He hadn’t heard of Firefly though so guess who my next target is? That’s about it for now. Soon as the wife gets home from work today (bout 11am) we are going to the movies to see Pirates of the Caribbean-At Worlds End. Hope it’s good. List of resent things of goodiness: 1) movie “The Island” very good 2) series “Band of Brothers” on the History channel, really enjoyed this 3) American Idol, over for this season. Z does the happy dance. Z,out

So, Waitress finally came to my local movie theater, and I went to see it last night, and I loved it! It's quirky, funny, sad, and sexy with a happy ending. The entire cast was great! The writing was great! The direction was great! If this was a Fox TV show, it would have been canceled after the first two episodes! Keri Russell was amazing! From beginning to end, she has you with her for the entire movie. She'll be winning awards for this role. The way she dreads this baby that she carries throughout the film makes the ending delightful like the pies she makes throughout the film. And, I love what she does with the moon pie at the end, which has nothing to do with making pies, btw. Andy Griffith stole every scene he was in! He's so funny as the crotchety, old horn dog who owns the pie shop, but you still love him from beginning to end. And, when I say he's a "horn dog", I mean he only sounds that way when he talks about his promiscuous past. He'll say something, and you'll laugh and say to yourself, "Did the Andy Griffith really say that??" Yes, he did! Watching him act in this film was worth the $7.00 ticket alone. (That's a student discount, btw.) And Nathan... I can't comment on this movie on FFF.net without saying something about El Capitán! Yes, he is wonderful in this film! I know I've said this before, but I enjoy watching him act b/c he is always in character and he's a great listener. ("Listener" in acting terms means that he doesn't drop character in the slightest while other people are speaking; he reacts, which is how you become known as a great actor.) And his character is the nervous type in the beginning of the film, to the sexy doctor, to... well, I'm not going to be like other critics and spoil the ending. So, yes. As soon as this film hits the theater near you, RUN OVER THERE AND WATCH IT!

Its 7 am im sleepish.... ive been writing..... i have a short story. A TOAST TO THE DAY “A toast to the day!” The cry rang out through the crowded bar. The other patrons laugh and toast. I laugh and take a seat to the bar. ‘What day? I wonder, ‘Did a holiday sneak up on me? Did something happen this morning? Are these drunks crazy?’ I pay no heed to the call for toast. The bartender smiles at me with knowing blue eyes and pours me a drink before I can order. ‘Weird place’ I think as I knock back the drink. “Going to celebrate with us tonight Ma’am?” I glance over to the voice. A woman a few years older than me smiles back at me with a drink warming in her hand. I glance around the bar at other patrons, quiet all the sudden. “Sure, why not, what are we celebrating this evening” A wave of laugher floods the room. “The day, of course.” “To the day!!” the call goes out again, followed by a cheer. I toast with the crowd this time. “What day is? Last I checked my calendar said Wednesday, nothing special” The room is quiet again. I can feel the eyes of celebrators burning on the back of my head. The woman next to me just laughs. “The day, the day!! The one we all hope for of course!” “The day?” “The day when we don’t hide.” “Here, here!” another round is had. I keep my gaze on my mysterious companion. “When we don’t hide? What you mean by that?” She laughs again and it is like the room falls away. Its just me and her. “The day when we can stand up and shout and declare we wont hide in the shadows. When we learn to share and live in peace. The day when every one can cry at last, for the pain of others and the hope of the dawn. For the day when we no longer fear for our lives. Tonight we toast for that day, the beautiful glorious day we know we will one day see. We toast and we pray for its speedy arrival. So we no longer wonder when our next funeral is.” “Here, here.” The soft murmur brings the room back into focus around me. The patrons around stare into the abyss of their drinks remembering, I guess, those whom they have lost. I stare too. And I see their faces and smiles and I choke back my tears. I look back at my companion. “A toast to the day” I say with a smile and a raise of my glass. She smiles back and raises her glass. “Here, here.” And we take a drink with the rest.

First posted at Myspace: Thursday, May 31, 2007 No folks this ain't a drunken flashback. Current mood: okay Shadow of Pomagranate Bloom Needed rest from fitful dreaming denied Despite twilight haze to wakened eye Breath in berth, deep and languid warm slither and squeeze on soft low back Slow pulse awaken spirit For mornings cool touch spirit of earthen warmth Reaching coils sharing the lost day Resting sensual blindness upon shoulders Alas pulled to restless depth So the other night I had fell asleep waiting for a friend to come over and something really started twisting my sleep. Waking several times I finally gave in and jotted the piece down through tired eyes. I could feel something reaching from the ground and wrapping around my middle. As it moved it felt like a large tentacle. Warm in spirit and meaning no harm. Almost as if it were sharing some inexplicable information that I needed to understand. Some of the feeling still lingers in the sunlight, but I mostly feel it during the evening workout. A sort of insulation to the fire way down deep. Not knowing what it was isn't all that bothersome. And the why isn't all too much of a mystery. There are things happening and I'm in preperation for some bad stuff. What? I'm not really sure. But something tells me to be ready. My mind, body, soul, and heart have been sick for a very long time. There seemingly has been no offer to help me fix these things. But I feel I may have missed some chances at fixing stuff along the way. So far I've worked on wind and strength, I've been reading at every chance I get, taken time to disappear and spend some real time with myself outside of the thoughts of others, and I've thought alot of the future and what I want. Really I have no answers. But it feels like I can be a little more accepting to the answers I do get. A friend recently commented on how he is inspired by the strength of my character. I have to take this as an answer to a question rolling in my head for a while. Does anyone even notice that I am here? I got the shock of the day when I took Zeke outside just now. He went off to graze like a cow and never even saw a thing. I saw this stripey lump in the driveway. It was a snake in the middle of his lunch of baby rabbit! I took pics, because even though SC has a lot of snakes, I rarely see them. Unfortunately, in taking pics, I startled him into backing off of his meal and he slithered away. here's a link to mah bucket, I thought you might want to see...

It appears that even after he blows up at them, mom and dad still trust lil' bro with the car they payed to have modified for me! To this day, he has driven it farther and longer without the safety net of his parents than I ever have! Why do they keep doing this! Why do they let such a volatile teen drive the car that has to keep me going for the next five years at least! Don't they realize that one day, he may end up permanently damaging the car they bought for me! Or even WORSE damaging HIMSELF! That's it! At this point I'm hating all three of them!
