Thank yous, Spaceships and Jerimiah
Monday, 01 May 2006 00:38:09

Its been said before but it sure doesnt hurt to say it again. The Browncoats are the most supportive community ever, thanks to everyone who responded to my last blog, your support is always welcome. Started watching the show Jeremiah earlier, not bad actually. Bit to episodeic at times, and ofcourse its no Firefly, but it will keep me company for a while. And also, ive started making stats for the Spaceships that I am designing for my Serenity RPG Chronicle, if anyones interested heres the first draft. Note however that I have yet to calculate things like tonage and capacity. For more info about the ships see my earlier blog entry Spaceship Designs or my message board post, What should I call her?. Safe flying friends. Rough stats for my Spaceships: Mallard Class Light Transport. Agility: d6 Strength: d6 Vitality: d6 Alertness: d4 Intelligence: d4 Willpower: d8 Speed Class: 4 / 7 (fullburn) Lifepoints: 14 Initiative: d4 + d4 Quirks: Shakes in hard burn; When in hard burn the Mallard (especially the cargobay) tends to vibrate heavily. Assets: Fast Throttle; The Mallard has two linked engines which gives it a good punch in hard burn (minor) Detachable Cargobay; The Mallard can release its cargohold just like a modern day cargo container (minor), Complications: Memorable; Because of its special design (detachable cargohold) the Mallard is easily remembered by people (minor), Skills: Athletics d4, Covert d2, Perception d2, Pilot d2, Vulture Class Salvage Cruiser Agility: d4 Strength: d8 Vitality: d6 Alertness: d4 Intelligence: d2 Willpower: d4 Speed Class: 3 / 5 (fullburn) Lifepoints: 12 Initiative: d2 + d4 Quirks: When a Vulture enters Atmo it loses what little agility it has and shakes and rattles. Assets: Standard models aint really got any assets. Complications: Ugly as Sin; The Vulture aint exactly a pretty ship (minor), Seen better Days; The Vulture was used before the war, so it aint young either (minor). Skills: Athletics d2, Heavy Weapons d4, Perception d2, Pilot d2, Gear: The Vulture has a huge grappling arm used for salvage. It is used with the heavy weapons skill. Cricket Class Light Transport Agility: d8 Strength: d4 Vitality: d6 Alertness: d2 Intelligence: d2 Willpower: d2 Speed Class: 5 / 7 (fullburn) Lifepoints: 10. Initiative: d2 + d4 Quirks: The Cricket has better suspension in its aft landing gear to protect the engine, therefore the landing usually feels a little bit bumby in the front part of the ship. Assets: Standard Crickets don’t come with such shiny things. Complications: Lightweight; The Cricket is a fragile creation (minor). Skills: Athletics d4, Perception d2, Pilot d2,

Dear Joss, So I was watching the extras on the Serenity DVD again. And I haven't done so since I've seen the series. Some of that stuff seriously brought tears to my eyes. Just a bit though. I mean, the fridden show was cancelled! No one recovers from that. Except you, Joss. Dude-man-bro, I love ya, man. I used to love ya for yer wit and characters. Now I love ya for that and your incorrigibility. If that is even a proper word. No matter. You can make up words. So can I. You never gave up. Still haven't. We as fans can see that you never will. We stand with you. Together we are strong and can overcome whatever odds. So I love you, Joss. Almost as much as I hate you. Whatever are we to do without Wash? Damn you Joss. I can't help thinking we'd all be better off without the BDM. Man, killed off TWO main characters. One is par for the course. Gotta happen. Book was a martyr. But Wash??? I personally dunno if I can go on without him... So, Joss, 'curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!' Love ya man. sincerely, an anonymous fan

Season Two- Too Good To Be True?
Monday, 01 May 2006 03:57:35

I've heard from here and there that there will be a season two! Well, what do you guys think? Yes? No? Maybe so? I definitly hope so. If you know, tell!!

On this site going on 2 years, and not yet a blogger...
Monday, 01 May 2006 04:29:02

...until now. Why now? Why not. Gossi (WhoIsRiver) said that there should be a law that I post more often. I'm a libertarian, though. I will post as often as the free market will bear. No more laws, PLEASE! But thanks, gossi. I still recall fondly the talk of marriage. (I was pretty proud of the post that sparked that one, but I think the UB swallowed up that whole thread* before it went down. Pity.) ((* I do have my spell-checkable copy of that post saved, however, if anyone is interested in my genius. I know I am...)) Typically I try not to post too much pointless stuff all about me, but, uh, this is a blog, so...no apologies - you clicked!

So sorry to see you here as well Lost in your mindlessness, zombified Just swim through your every day, okay And cut your puppet strings on the other side Because today we are mass produced Blow up dolls in all shapes and sizes All mediocrity with no suprises And our canned laugher echos through Our pretty, pretty model A houses Clinging to the arm of our Ken doll We make them our Type B spouses Don't let them hear you say it's not okay See, we were all meant to live this way. I am very shy about letting people read my poetry. I came from a small town and was different, so when people read my stuff, well....lets just say some were a little mean. One girl said, " Uhhhh... Do you really feel this way?" Read that with a snobby little attitude. That's how she said it. So, constructive things, good. Just posting to be mean.....not so good.

This weekend, I'm going to Boone, (Iowa) for a three-day camping type thingie, so I'm looking foward to that. *wink* Have a great day everybody!

Today was a shiny! day
Tuesday, 02 May 2006 00:21:33

Today was a good day. I got to work this morning to find that ServantOK had left a very nice present for me on the FFF.net boards. It was very kind and made me all warm and fuzzy. Work was sufficiently boring to allow for all day posting in the 'verse! And my spousal unit (a) showed up with SOME money on time and (b) agreed to buy my son a SHINY graduation present! I went out and bought a bed for my "borrowed" daughter (her story later, I don't want to dampen the shininess). And EmmaRigby is cracking me up in the Limericks verse. Now if only I could get that Llama.........

Can't quite get my head around what's taking so long..a simple go, no go would suit me fine..ah well, at least I got a serenity pin-up out there...I can now say I'm a published artist...(or soon will be) To the gang: Hope the drawings work for you and I'm kinda looking forward to my t-shirt Keep flyin' all

Gorram head aint giving me no rest
Tuesday, 02 May 2006 04:47:44

Today has been a painfull day. Had this splitting headache all day long and it aint showing no inclanations to be giving up any time soon. Not much I can do at the moment, guess ill lie down in bed, watch a bit of Jeremiah and then fall asleep. Got the Movies game yesterday, kinda fun actally, hard to make movies that dont look like feh wu though. Well, tomorrow is another day, and hopefully its a day without pain, or atleast with Painkillers.

"10 Questions for the Dalai Lama" with Rick Ray is a good movie. If anyone has the opportunity to go see, please do. Chinese government is evil. Free Tibet! Manic manic manic. There aren't enough blog sites to keep up with the thought processes going on in my head right now. Possibly time to pull out the paper journal?

Yes Sir, Cap'n Sir!

As requested I watched Slither at the cinema... just got back actually. I smiled inanely as our beloved captain tight pants appeared on screen. Felt like pointing at him in my excitement like a small child! I made 'ick' faces at the appropriate parts and laughed at others. Still not convinced it's my kind of film but it was still pretty good fun to watch! Any other browncoats seen it yet?

Why does Firefly have to be so gorram addicting?!
Tuesday, 02 May 2006 23:08:10

I'm an 8th grade student and I had a science New York State Assessment this morning. I was TRYING to studyyesterday and the nights before, but i kept getting to distracted by Firefly and Serenity!! I've been on this website for soo long and I really hope I didn't fail the test. WHY MUST FIREFLY BE SO ADDICTING?!

You know that person who reads the fics and the forums, and looks at the pictures, but doesn't actually contribute to the discussions or the art? I have become that person. I feel so ashamed! I fear that my browncoat will be revoked! I blame college. Time consuming, brain imploding, just makes want to curl up in a ball and sleep for a week college. I'm really fed up with school, and now that the weather is nice, all I want to do is...stay inside talk to all you shiny people, lol. I'm seriously ready to be done, but alas I have a over a month left of classes. Grrr.

So many distractions
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 02:35:04

Well, it turns out that after I get back from the wedding tomorrow, I have to leave town AGAIN to go a family reunion. That means Chapter 2 may not be up until the weekend or Monday at the latest. Sorry for the delays (or you can thank God that you don't make your eyes bleed reading it) but it's beyond my control. ~WG out

oh the news!
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 04:11:13

At Collectormania 9 this weekend, Alan Tudyk revealed that Joss had told him that Wash and Book would both be in a sequel to Serenity, if it happens. Alan was speaking at a panel talk on Sunday April 30th where he was joined by Ron Glass. When asked if the two would consider being a part of the sequel, Alan replied that he had been told both characters would return in any second film. I found this bit here:

Another Day
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 07:49:04

Well today at work I was told that I was to change shifts. I am moving from swing shift (1600-0000 hrs) to days (0800-1600 hrs). The reason for this move is somewhat political by persons in charge of my job. They are under the belief that if I was moved to another shift, I would get mad and do something stupid but this change is in my favor. Because my wife and I are adopting a child from China and one of the things that we talked about was child care. My wife and I both work the same time shift so we would have to pay a baby sitter to watch our child for eight or more hours but now that I am moving shifts we would only have to pay for two hours or less for only three days. What my bosses thought was going to be a punishment changed into a windfall for me.

Shiny stuff
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 07:50:58

Found a cplug in to Photoshop today that one of the graphicaldesigners to Serenity uses when making planets. Gave it a try and it works real good and all. Ive started testing to make some of my Serenity RPG Moons with it now and its worked wonders sofar. Check it out at:

Nearing The Finish
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 10:32:02

So, I've turned in the two projects I've been slaving over this past month. All I've got left are two finals...which are basically just unit exams instead of those cumulative beasts--thank God. Unfortunately all that occurs NEXT week. In the meanwhile, I'm absolutely burnt out. This is largely in part due to the University of Hawaii at Manoa having one of the longest--if not not THE longest (back in '93, we did--semester of all the universities. I am gonna be so grateful for summer. So, so, SO grateful... Until my brain reboots, I'm busy killing zombies in

It's incredible how things never go smooth. It's really hard to keep on flyin', but we have to be strong. What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. At least I hope so. There must be a way to turn things better.

Just An Update
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 12:47:07

Lo, all... It's been good the past few days... Sold my Playstation 2 (my DVD player, practically) and returned Firefly and Serenity to my friend... Worst moment of my life! Been working on the fanfic and such... Not an everyday activity, so its coming along at a snails pace. Hopefully I won't be so lazy at doing art for particular scenes and such, but first, I gotta learn how to do the characters easy, which could take a while... Dah, well. Stay shiny, and remember-

Website woes
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 14:16:47

Ugh. Updated my website again last night/this morning. Only three stories this time, since I just updated 4/30, but still it took me nearly 15 minutes. I wish I could use eFiction or similar, but I can't justify the expense to pay for hosting that will allow it. Besides, that's more work anyway. I do think I need a redesign. Yay for CSS. For those who care, the website is here:

Another one to join the happy crew
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 14:28:14

Hello!!! I am yet ANOTHER new convert to Firefly, although, of course, not the rest of Joss Whedon's stuff! Just thought I would say Hi to y'all. (Please be kind to me, im new )

Difficulties of the highest order
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 16:02:53

God, I need this week to be over. Another round of Stargate, hopefully Buffy Season 7, and I can finally get down and upload a new chapter. Hopefully. By the way, I love my feedback, so if you like what you read (Or see, now I've uploaded my first picture), leave feedback. If you don't like it, leave feedback anyway. I like feedback.

Spring is in the Air... :)
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 16:06:06

Feeling a might goofy lately. Always get like this once I'm sure there isn't going to be any snowfall for at least another year. Just feeling downright shiny lately (in spite of a lingering case of strep throat :) And it must be spring 'cause I've started seeing a girl I know from work. I'm one of those guys who doesn't do the whole "relationship" thing too often, but I'm trying to give this a go. Been "off the market" for a good long time, but when a good thing comes along... (Why is it this always happens when I tell myself I'm specifically not looking for a g/f?) Good news for me is she's a total geek like myself, which is a nice change of pace. Bodes well if we can entertain each other watching TV all day and not run out of stuff to talk about. Not used to having a girlfriend where we actually have some things in common :P Plus I've got her hooked on Firefly now. Nice change for me, actually being able to watch the series with someone else. Especially shiny seeing someone watch them for the first time. Got a couple graphics projects in the works, a few of them Firefly-related, just a matter of actually getting them done. (Thank Whedon for the podcasts to keep me busy on the computer :) Keep getting sidetracked by more lunchbox ideas, sort of as something to do when I get bored of the others. Might be a long time in the works, but I've got an idea for a little comic series set in the 'verse. Still mostly brainstorming that, though, and it ain't something I do very quickly... Anyways, looks like the board here is getting back to it's shiny old self :) Missed a couple days, and it seems like maybe a couple items are still up in the air re: Serenity Day/ Serenity Summer but still shiny to see the storm starting to lift :) Holdin', NuClearDay

the lag and lack of muse
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 16:53:43

Finals really suck the life outta my muse, the lil fella's all shriveled and comatose... it really sucks. He really came alive in biology class, that is where I wrote most of my Firefly fanfictions. Odd. But now, no more biology, ever. Which is good. I just hope my muse finds another outlet. It makes me sad to be so write-less. I cannot do it without him. really, it is quite pitiful. However, I have it on good authority that he loves reviews and suggestions. So help me out and encourage the muse. Cos he knows best. now back to finals... oh yes, Africa is a big country... I know Africa is a continent! AgentRusco out.

Overwhelmed...
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 19:48:29

Wow… Where to begin? How about mentioning that I just spent the past 20 minutes on my knees in prayer. Now…let me make sure you guys understand something about me. I am deeply religious, and deeply faithful. I am a Christian. I have no problem sharing that detail of my life with those around me. I will NOT, however, shove it down anyone’s throat. I always admired that about Sheperd Book…surrounded by ‘heathens a-plenty, right here’, but was never more than a gentle nudge in the heavenly direction. Like Book, I share my faith when asked, and try not to make people uncomfortable with it otherwise. That’s the quickest way for them to shut down. I digress. I spent the past 20 minutes on my knees in earnest prayer because of an unexpected visitor today. A kid named Brandon. Brandon had been assigned to me when I used to run a Boot Camp for Juvenile Offenders here in North Carolina. Brandon was actually a pretty good kid who just needed direction and discipline. After graduating from my program, he went on to complete High School and joined the Army. He just came by today to tell me he’s going to Iraq. Just typing those words cause my throat to close…my vision blurs… I felt myself ‘shut down’ parts of my brain, most of my emotions… I immediately shifted from grinning at a young man who’d become a friend, back to the stern, ‘business is business’ Drill Instructor he had known for 10 weeks. I think he saw what I was doing, trying so hard to stay strong in front of him so his own confidence and resolve would not waver. I shook his hand and told him to be careful, and that I fully expected him to return here to speak to my current cadets about his experiences there. Then I came into my office, shut and locked the door and quietly fell apart. His name is Brandon. He’s in the 3rd Infantry Division, and he’s going to Iraq. He has a wife and a young daughter. As wrong as it is for me to ask you to make any one soldier overseas ‘special’, God, pay special attention to this one, please. ANYONE who would like to contact me via email or telephone to share a brief prayer with me, please do so. You are all welcome.

Updated Choices
Wednesday, 03 May 2006 20:16:45

So, I put up Part 12 B of Choices last night... even thought my Internet was completely unreliable and I wasn't able to do anything else at all ... there was much whining and yelling and cojolling at the computer, alas, to no effect... It looks like there will be one more part to Choices, Part 13 (though who knows exactly how many A, B's or C's there'll be after that number) and then likely an Epilogue. Phew... hard to believe it's come this far... over 45,000 words. For me, that number seems amazing. I've never written one story that was that long before, ever... and the fact that it still seems to be working, and in fact seems to have gotten better as I went along... it just blows me away. Anyway, big reveal at the end, and kudos to those of you who guessed right way back when... had me tearing out my hair between wanting to message you all and say "yes yes yes! You're right!" and curse you all at the same time for putting the idea out there for others to think on *G* Ah, well... Thank-you those wonderful readers who continue to support me and this story, I couldn't have done it without you. I love you guys!

Here's the deal...
Thursday, 04 May 2006 01:05:47

Yeh, I am not gonna fool myself and say you all will miss me, but after my last exam tomorrow, I am going home for the summer. Well, not the full summer, lemme explain. Home, for the month of May. And during that month I have semi-limited internet access. This is because my parents have dial-up. It is toatal crap. That crap entails not being able to be online unitl after 9PM because of possible incoming calls and having hecka slow access in general. However, going home means that I may be bored a lot more than usual. Therefore I may write more. But, alas, the posting will be nearly non-existant. The next complication is this: in June I am off to Mexico with extreamly limited internet access. This means that I will not be online at all except email checkage. I am as yet unsure how long I will be in Mexico. But I am sure I will write. I have only been on this site for a few weeks... not even, but I shall miss the Browncoats terribly. So all of this is to inform you that I'm going now. I bid you all a very fond farewell. And I shall see you again on the other side. Rusco out.

Thursday, 04 May 2006 10:21:05

Was just treated to a nice breakfast by a mate. Wich is always nice since I dont really eat breakfast. Been watching Jeremiah nearly all night and eventually fell asleep infront of it, was on the last episode of the first season. Not a bad show actually, just hope I can find season two somewhere. Cant really say ive done much today, might do something later. This is my tenth blog by the way, feels nice to have a place to write daily, never really gotten into blogging before. Well, going to watch the end of Jeremiah, maybe take a bath or sleep for a while longer and then design some nifty moons for my rpg chronicle. See you all later!

Thursday, 04 May 2006 17:08:08

Are you a fan of Buffy and Firefly? Do you have a moment to read a really good story? I have a friend who has posted on Fanfiction.net and is getting discouraged because she's not getting many reviews. I can't understand it myself as her stuff is way better than almost everything out there. I've been betaing for her and know that she has a couple of excellent chapters lined up and want to give her a boost for her moral so she'll post them! If you have a minute pop over to

Serenity Screening in Charlotte NC on June 23
Thursday, 04 May 2006 20:32:15

Yay! Thanks to XanderLHarris and her mad Shindig skills, we're going to have a screening of Serenity on June 23rd in Charlotte, North Carolina! I am very excited! There is so much to do beforehand, of course. We want to have contests and prizes and sell out the theater and all that, but I'm just so happy we're actually making it happen! So, if any of you are anywhere near Charlotte and want to come or help out, let me know! There's plenty of work to be done. (There's also going to be a screening in Raleigh on the 22nd!!!!!) And if you aren't, check out www.cantstoptheserenity.com to find out if there's a screening near you that weekend. If there's not, try to get one! There's still time! And of course, buy the DVDs! Do something this summer to get involved! There are so many of us that we can't help but be heard if we work together. And don't forget, Charlotte, NC, Friday June 223! Be there!

Still flyin'

Wahaha!! My own Firefly blog! At the moment, I am looking for Firefly or Serenity sheet music for violin (especially River's Dance, Jayne's Song, and Ballad of Serenity). Aww, this is so cute:

I. Hate. This.
Thursday, 04 May 2006 23:53:51

I just posted recently a blog about the Big Damned Flanvention 2. And about how badly I want to go. My parents will not take me. They said they would if they could but they cant. I dont believe this. Why do I have to live so far away? I hate Long Island!! Oh my God. I am like crying my eyes out right now that's how upset I am. You have no idea. Sorry to ramble on to you guys I must be pretty annoying. I just really want to go. Why does everything have to cost so much money?! I. Hate. This. :pissed:

HORSES, I LOVE HORSES
Friday, 05 May 2006 01:43:44

It's done
Friday, 05 May 2006 02:12:34

well, my proformance was last night. My River monolouge went very well, and I squeed when I saw Joss Whedon's name in the program as the writer of my peice. Hopefully that threw Firefly awareness out there in a different audence, despite how mangled the monolouge itself was. meantime, Chapter 3 WAS being very nice about being written...until I lost it. I also have some blockage on Bring me to life so...don't expect to much from me in the future. Also, I have a paper route now and often stuff to do after, so I may not even be here much. Of course, when I tried to ask my dad if I could get on the computer, spifically for the purpouse of coming here...I almost asked if I could go home. I really do love it here.

Thanks for Memories
Friday, 05 May 2006 02:19:56

I am getting tremendous support with this episode, and I greatly appreciate it. I love when people love the thing that I love (which is writing). I enjoy writing it as much as you enjoy reading it, and I'm working on twelve more 5-chapter episodes for y'all. Thanks, and enjoy!

What a freakin' week! My wife went to the emergency room on Tuesday, and is still in the hospital with a kidney infection that has also gotten into her blood, and now my kids have a stomach flu they picked up from the folks that watched them while I was in the ER with my wife! :vomit: Heavy Sigh... The whole kidney infection thing was really nasty. My wife had a temp of 104.8 when the paramedics showed up, and her blood pressure was as low as 78/38 after 12 hours of fluids, etc. Scared the crap out of me! :crap: Serenity Now! Yeah, I know that has a whole different meaning on this site, but still! I'm constantly reminded that life is what happens to you while you're making other plans.

Nothing interesting really

Another night(uhm..morning?) and another blog. Played some Wh40k today, got kicked, not that into it anymore anyway. Played some SW:Empire at War aswell, fun game. Well, Ill try to come up with something better tomorrow, a bit tired now anyhow

Feels good....yeah....ya know it feels good!
Friday, 05 May 2006 11:09:27

Hello all! Today has been a good day. So good I'm gonna rave about it. Spent some time packing, getting ready to move back into the country.....fresh air, trees galore. My new house has a little family cemetary on the left side of the yard, and I think it's pretty cool! Yeah, I'm a little gruesome. It also has horses fenced in behind it. So I'll be adopting some horses to sneak treats to. Don't have a job right now to worry about, gonna get a part time when I move out to the boonies. So I just sat back and wrote a crapload of limericks (check out the Limericks post, everyone is very talented). Then, since I was all inspired and everything, I brainstormed a plot line for an erotic novel based on vampires. Should be really interesting, being as I am pretty open minded about sex and all. I'm really excited, my muse hasn't visited in quite a while. Also, my bearded dragon seems to be doing much better. My vet said metabolic bone disease, but x-rays show a fine looking skeleton. We have to wait on a blood panel but we're hopeful. Three more weeks of liquid calcium are in order, but after that, meds should be over. She told me he was obese though. Here I am, worrying that he's to skinny, he doesn't eat every day, is he sick..., and he's a tub of lard lol! Fat patties under his jaw, she says! So, if anyone has a beardie, post me some tips that you've found for a healthy, happy dragon. Or let me know how good your day was! Or how your novel is going...ect.

Essay time...yippee....
Friday, 05 May 2006 11:59:45

Well, I'm in my 1st period global history class that I have the most ginormous (yes, that is a word....) project due in 2 weeks and we have now just been assigned an essay on the war w/ Iraq that's due Wednesday! Grr..arrgh...! Here's the exact prompt: Essay Title/Theme: "To War and Back"--a tribute to our troops that have fought and are fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq Okay, so I'm an American and I'm one of the people who doesn't neccessarily agree with the war. (Let the flames begin....Not really, please. I don't want to start a war with the browncoats...:crap:) So, long story short....I have absolutely NO idea what to write. I'm sitting in the computer lab with my bff (who, sadly, is not a Browncoat. :disappointed:) and we are surfing the web rather than actually working on the assignment. It's quite amusing, actually. But, y'know, with the whole might-be-caught-at-any-moment thing is a bit of a damper. Ah, well... Oh, and thank you so much to copilot and BlueEyedBrigadier for your thoughts. Well, off to eat food in my French class. Cheers, ~ForeverShiny

Gonna be gone for a bit
Friday, 05 May 2006 14:12:04

Just a quick note to let my readers know I'm gonna be gone for a bit. Look for an update to "Family" mid-month. Have a great weekend and week, everyone! "I love my captain."

'Cause sometimes you just need a little Kaylee...

That's a little bit depressing.
Friday, 05 May 2006 16:21:01

Ok, so... I have a lab partner for my chemistry labs and we've had 15hours of labs this semester. She's attended 4 hours of those compulsory labs. When it comes to writing the lab reports you are allowed to write a joint report with your partner so not wanting her to fail I agreed to write joint reports. The first report I did all by myself. The entire fricking 9hour lab write up plus the pre-lab research questions. Handed it in on time and got 78%. That's a fricking 1st people. Obviously my lab partner got the same grade. The second lab report I wrote up entirely again. With one exception. I was called home unexpectedly because of family illness so I emailed the entire report to my lab partner minus the pre-lab since i didn't have any research books with me. I spoke to her and explained the situation and she said she'd do the pre-lab, put it in the gaps I'd labelled for her and then print out the report and hand it in... Excellent! So, yeah I'd done 90% of the marks (pre-lab only worth 10%) but it was a weight off my mind knowing she'd hand it in. One month later... Today I got called into the lecturers office to discuss the lab report. Apparently my lab partner plaguerised the pre-lab from someone else... word for word... even copied and pasted their diagram.:stupid: Since it's a joint report we're both responsible. My mark for this report just went from 75% (first) to 40% capped (third class). I lost 35% because she couldn't be arsed to answer two questions (one page of our 12 page lab report). :banghead: So thanks... thanks a lot. :finger:

Beta Reader Request
Friday, 05 May 2006 16:36:03

Okay... so, it's finally been made clear to me that I should get a beta reader. So far, I've had negative experiences with beta-readers, which is partly my fault. Basically, with the beta reader's I've had (really, I think only two; I had one when I started over the hills and one a long, long time ago when I wrote more embarassing fanfic during high school), things go pretty much like this: Me: my spelling sucks, sorry. Feel free to make any comment your heart desires, because honesty is good. Beta: Sure ...days later... Me: ... you are going to say something, right? Or at least correct the spelling...? So, what is boils down to is that I'm fairly impatient. Sorry, world, it is a flaw of mine. I mean, I understand it takes time to edit. I occassionally edit papers for people who live on my floor and it can take hours, and I understand thar people tend to have these things called lives where they need to interact with people who are really there and not spent an unhealthy amount of time at the computer like I do (which is good, yay!), but after a day and a half or so I get antsy. I just do. Other than that, though, I think I'm fairly easy to work with, and I've be willing to return the favor for anyone who needs it. Actually, just if anyone needs a beta in general, you can PM me. So, if anyone is willing to dare, my emaile is greyfable@gmail.com. Peace. Katie

Al Gore is Cool
Friday, 05 May 2006 17:13:22

I know this sounds like the weirdest and most incendiary title for a blog, but for some reason I've been coming around to the realization that Al Gore is cool. Maybe it was the way SOUTH PARK made fun of him in last weeks ep where he's obsessed with finding Manbearpig ("I'm totally serial") and everyone keeps saying "I kinda feel sorry for him. I don't think he has any friends." But this was trumped by him guesting twice on FUTURAMA as himself. He made a really great guest star. And I took a look at the trailer for that documentary of his about global warming, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, and I can see it being like the next blockbuster doc. I dunno. I really respect people who have a sense of humor about themselves and who consider it an honor if SOUTH PARK making fun of them and not an insult (which is why I think George Clooney is better than Tom Cruise). I don't know what makes me, but Al Gore seems cool to me.

Firefly's alive and kickin'
Friday, 05 May 2006 18:04:57

Firefly may not be on the air right now, like a new season but, as we know, it is far from dead. On the contrary its still alive and kickin'. I just discovered, maybe i'm behind here, but there is the Official companion to the show coming out in September! It is now on my wish list along with the next novelization that is due this fall also. I found out the only Serenity Firefly thing I don't have in paper form or on CD is the Role playing game book that is out there. Hey any of you Browncoats live in Vermont? You know, that mostly cold, not much sun, kind of green mountainy state in New England? I am still determined one day to get to a convention and meet some of you in person and maybe one day meet the BDH themselves! Shiny!

Firefly Fanfic Series
Friday, 05 May 2006 19:02:26

My angst sounding board is away for the next few days and I want her to read the next chapter of 'Shattered' before I post it. So it will be a few days before the next chapter gets put up. I'm busying myself in the meantime writing fluff so at least the readers will have something to look forward to when that is finally posted.

Decisions, Decisions
Friday, 05 May 2006 22:40:07

Has anyone ever made an decision (either right or wrong) believeing that they would be supported by their superiors. Only to be stabbed in the back by those same superiors then told by those same superiors that your judgement is lacking. Also why is it that the suck-ups (even one that has been involved in something that society frowns on) get away with things? I just shake my head and walk away. Oh, our paper work for our child is coming along. Also I am working on a book based on "Firefly".

2X2
Vacation
Friday, 05 May 2006 23:29:59

So, I'm heading into a week long vacation, which has its pluses, and its minuses... On the plus side, it's a week long vacation!! yay! On the not so plus side, it means I likely won't get as much writing done as normal, which will push Choices back :o( I appreciate all the patience you guys (used in a totally non-gender specific way) have given me... and I'll do my best to work on it, but, the second minus to being off for a week - I do my best writing at work (work avoidance is marvellous for inspiration!) So, if things are quiet from me for the next week, you'll know why, and I apologize in advance. 2x2 out!

Surrounded by Death
Saturday, 06 May 2006 04:39:39

My roomates grandpa died today, she was real torn up about it, cant say I was that much help. We talked a bit and then we watched a movie, didnt really know what to say or do, not much good around death. Not long ago a relative of mine was murdured, so this tore up some not to old badness, also my grandma has some heartproblems so she might not live very long and my mother had a stroke a while ago and might have another someday soon unless she learns to unwine. So somehow I feel like I am surrounded by death, and I hate the feeling.

Mom's 41st birthday: What to do?
Saturday, 06 May 2006 05:03:57

So my Mom turns 41 on Who would've guessed... Mother's Day! I need to know what to do. I thought about putting a little animation together for her, but I'm running on empty as to ideas. If anyone has a premise for like a 2-5 minute movie I would be eternally grateful. (P.S. She's not a Browncoat...yet, so anything dealing with insider Jokes about the BDH's BDS or BDM will fly right past her.)

Antebellum: Back and with a Vengeance
Sunday, 07 May 2006 02:49:08

Well, maybe not a vengeance, per se. Maybe with a sharp stick or something. Okay, so as some of you have noticed, I had taken a little vacation from my fanfic series "Antebellum." Okay, three months, whatever. Who's counting? Point is, since I'm about to get my Associate's Degree in a couple weeks, I will now be able to work on my series a little more, hopefully finally being able to answer the question on everyone's minds: "Is there a point to all of this?" Now, I don't want to outright state how frequent the chapters will be up, as I'm still jumping back into all this, and my employers still expect me to show up for work every now and then. But rest assured, the story's all up in my head and (biasly speaking) it's a pretty good one (if not insanely complicated and in no way meant for a fan fiction). And we still have a long way's to go until even Book One concludes. You guys don't even know about the gorillas yet! (Is he kidding?) For those of you who are the majority and don't know what I'm talking about, I have put this handy li'l recap guide of chapters 1-9. Of course it's just a short jaunt to actually read these chapters your own damn self, but hey, I'm a nice guy. And when you're done doing whatever you're doing, feel free to read Chapter Ten of Antebellum: Book One which will be posted a couple minutes after this log entry. Chapter One: A flashback to seventeen years ago reveals small truths about the Blue Hands and the mysterious "Phase Three." Back in the present (i.e. the future) River wakes up speaking a single word: "Antebellum." Chapter Two: Set two years after Miranda, Mal Reynolds wakes up to yet another crummy morning, exposits at the speed of light, and then finds out he and his crew have now been given "Dead or Alive" warrants and been labeled as Terrorists. Chapter Three: Jayne bugs Simon about Kaylee, Kaylee bugs Inara about Mal, a six-year-old bugs Mal about Inara, and Mal bugs River about her insomnia. Chapter Four: Jayne and Simon find themselves in a tight spot after a burglary attempt. Mal and the crew reluctantly save them. Chapter Five: The news of the Terrorist warrants is received by the crew with expected results as they argue about their next steps. Mal says their last resort is to split up across the Rim, while Inara says they should contact an ally of theirs through an old acquaintance of Mal and Zoe's. Also, Zoe tells Mal to get over his guilt, but Mal doesn't wanna. And finally, a young girl wakes up with the strict intent on finding her sister... River Tam! Chapter Six: Gabriella and Michael, two Readers in the same program as River was in, are given their instructions to hunt down and kill Captain Mal Reynolds. Parlaimentary Agent Oren doesn't trust them, while Doctor Chen trusts them all too fully. Chapter Seven: Nobody sleeps on the trip to Neo Sombra as Mal and Inara talk about not talking, Kaylee exposits background information for Simon (then tries to bed him), and Simon talks about Kaylee with Zoe. Chapter Eight: The crew lands on Neo Sombra and Mal's good friend James Novak yells at him for being a Terrorist. Finally, James lets Mal stick around and use his CorTex, as long as he leaves right after. Chapter Nine: Chen's assistant Nicolas ponders the reason behind the Readers, and Agent Oren looks to have Gabriella answer some questions. Instead, she introduces Oren to Andrew, the first Reaver. Elsewhere, Michael follows the crew's scent and then paints himself a picture. There you have it. Now fill in the blanks by reading the full chapters! Candle Wax, everybody! Your friend and mine, TheSoapboxer

Mighty fine shindig.
Sunday, 07 May 2006 04:36:19

Went out today, felt like the first time in ages. First me and some others went and took some pictures (medieval photoshot, and I was the photographer so aint got no purdy pictures). Then after eating a mighty fine meal we went out to my local waterhole. Its a pretty nice goth/electronic/rock club. Saw a mates band there play live (always a kick) and after that we danced away the rest of the night. All in all, it was a mighty fine shindig tonight, first of many this summer I hope.

Enjoying Life
Sunday, 07 May 2006 04:36:42

My wife and I went to a Renaissance faire in Oklahoma about an hour from our home. We both had a great time, first of all my wife is from the Phillippines and never had seen anything like that before. That made it fun for me, being able to show her something she has never experienced befor. Spending time with her now is a great relief for me, my work place is becoming very stressful now(see other blogs)and I need the down time. I work on Sunday and will be off work until Thursday, which will do me a world of good.I strongly believe that I need a vaction away from the BS at work, this way I feel better about things.

Captain Jack lives!
Sunday, 07 May 2006 16:08:07

Yes, he does. In my coming story, I don't bother to explain how they find him or why, he's just there. I like him. He's a sort of time-travelling cross between Jayne and Mal. Of course, by "my coming story", I mean the Doctor Who/Firefly crossover fic. I call it 'Two Doctors'. For those cult Doctor Who fans, I mean Simon and The Doctor, as they are two Doctors. The title is a spin on the classic Spin Doctors (Whoa, too much pun) song, 'Two Princes', and the famous Doctor Who episodes, 'Three Doctors' and 'Five Doctors'. Don't judge me. Also, if anyone is at all confused about the latest Traveller's Tales segment (Chapter 16), just leave a comment and I'll try to answer.

my roommate is a dumbass
Sunday, 07 May 2006 22:02:00

I got back from the reunion, started working on chapter 2, had it 7/8 finished, and my roommate kicked the power cable for my PC. certain words, and bullets, were exchanged before he finally left to go hide at his friends apartment. Now I have to start back from square 1.5. And switch my power source to a more idiot-proof location. ~WG out

White Holes Etc.
Monday, 08 May 2006 03:48:13

Have been recently reading about the birth of a sun. Now there's an interesting space topic. Not sure how many out there are interested in cosmology too - I guess when you watch and read enough sci-fi you're bound to fall into reading about the 'verse and how it all began. Just natural curiosity I guess.

Insomnia
Monday, 08 May 2006 06:13:23

It is now 48 hours since the last time I laid my head down to rest. Gorram its taxing on your body to be awake for such long periods at a time. My eyelids are heavy, my fingers are soar and I constantly feel like I will throw up and then pass out. So, basicly I aint been feeling to good on the physical level today. On the other hand, I went out with some friends of mine and we grilled some hotdogs, went back to my place and I introduced them to Firefly, they loved it. Soon I will have to new shiny Browncoats in my town, and they will bring in even more... Today was a good day, But I think I might need some sleep now, so.... See you around the Verse, And have a Shiny day.

Going to try my first fanfic ...

I'm not much of a writer but I would like to start a Firefly fanfic soon. I've been inspired by the fabulous Browncoat writers here on FFNet

It's a Jaylee song! *gasp*
Monday, 08 May 2006 16:10:47

It don’t get any lonelier than this I believe my heart’ll break Tonight I prayed I’d die before I wake With every breath I’m tastin’ your kiss And it’s sweet upon my tongue Until the bitter tears fall one by one It don’t get any lonelier than this Cause I’m on this road alone My heartbeat ringin’ like a hollow drum I’m about as lonesome as a poor boy gets And there’s nothin’ I can do Cause it’s dark out here and I can’t find you It don’t get any lonelier than this It don’t get any lonelier than this I’m as blue as blue can be Just an empty place where your love should be I’m sick and tired of walkin’ around like this with my heart outside my skin I’m scared to death we’ll never touch again It don’t get any lonelier than this And there’s no place I can go Just the dusty corners that the shadows know Maybe this is as good as it’s gonna get I might always be this way I just wander this world calling out your name It don’t get any lonelier than this For some reason, this always reminds me of Jayne/Kaylee, which is just creepifyin' since I don't generally 'ship them. *shrug* ETA: This one too! Oh the night here it comes again It’s on with the jeans, the jacket and the shirt How’d I end up feeling so bad for such a little girl? Now I hold you close in the back of my mind Feels so good, but damn, it makes me hurt I’m too scared to know how I feel about you now La cienega just smiles, “I’ll see ya ‘round.” Now I hold you close in the back of my mind Raise my glass cause either way I’m dead Neither of you really help me to sleep anymore One breaks my body and the other breaks my soul La cienega just smiles and waves goodbye Oh the night here it comes again It’s off with the jeans, the jacket and the shirt How’d I end up feeling so bad for such a little girl? Now I hold you close in the back of my mind Feels so good, but damn, it makes me hurt I’m too scared to know how I feel about you now How I feel about you now La cienega just smiles and says, “I’ll see ya around.”

Concept art goldmine
Monday, 08 May 2006 22:22:55

I dug up a folder in my closet that was full of concept art I drew who-knows-when. I'll refrain from posting any until I get a working scanner though. Sorries! On the plus side, Chapter 2 of Pirates of the 25th Century (I had to change the date for the Firefly connection I have in mind to be believable) is almost finished and safe from any more idiotic roommates. Good day. ~WG out

Astonishing X-Men Hardcover - Well worth a look!
Monday, 08 May 2006 22:27:25

I went out and picked up the collected hardcover edition of The Astonishing X-Men... yes, the first twelve issues penned by Joss Whedon and illustrated by John Cassaday... The art is fantastic, really beautiful and so deserving of a graphic novel format. I quite like his interpretation of Beast, and his characters look so real and consistant that it's really something else. The story contained in the first six issues is better than the second issue, but both are really great, well written, with the dialogue we've come to expect from Joss... there's even a line that was used in Serenity (though it was in chinese) nineteen pages into part one - "You want a bullet? You want a bullet right in your skull?", which I believe is what Mal said to Simon after the doc punched him... hee! I got it for $10 less than cover price, and I got what I call the 'low profile' cover - the one that *doesn't* have Joss's name fifty feet high on the cover... Anyway, if you're the least bit interested, it's a good read and wonderful to look at, and the whole package is really nicely put together. I don't hesitate to reccomend it!

HELP NEEDED
Tuesday, 09 May 2006 01:42:00

I need some opinions, i'm writing my fic and unsure on one thing, ok here it goes the situation is this, A new character, Jorja, an old friend of mal's from way back, childhood friends, jorja was in the war and fought for the alliance, not her will though, she was faced with shooting mal or someone else would,(anyway this is just brief idea of what's going on, so don't commment on the lack of details)anyway decides to shoot mal, of course he survived, she's tried confronting mal several times to say she's sorry, first time she boards serenity, he points a gun at her and tells her to get of his ship, but when she finally does...., at her father's grave (General of the browncoats) she confronts mal who also happens to be there paying respects, there's an awkward silence............then??????????????? Now for the question i need help? What does mal say or do?

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday, 09 May 2006 01:57:47

I just did something utterly, completely, TERMINALLY stupid. :pissed: Something that I swear regularly I will never do again, yet somehow always fall into, and ALWAYS end up suffering for. I believed my mom. :disappointed: I actually lent credence to words that came out of her mouth. It's not that she's intentionally deceitful (to do that, she'd need more than one functioning brain cell), it's just that she's naive, self-absorbed, and completely stupid. So, everybody enjoying Prison Break? Great writing, acting, characters --and that convoluted plot that draws you in and makes you hold your breath to avoid missing anything unexpectedly vital. They finally got out tonight, no doubt as everything was completely going to hell, leaving the story to spiral off on a completely unanticipated tangent. I missed tonight's episode. It won't be rerun, 'cause that's not how Fox or Global do things. All 'cause I didn't immediately set the ruttin' VCR when mom told me we'd be back (from the Church-related job
I didn't want to do, wasn't prepared for, had to skip supper for, and ended up not needing to do anyway ['cause another waste-of-oxygen can't read simple instructions]). :banghead: (* -My mom handles Confirmations in our parish. Each kid needs a sponsor, and some kid didn't get one lined up, so mom dropped the ball into my lap as soon as I got home from work. Then the little whoon-dahn didn't even show. I sat for over an hour [she said it'd be done before 8, we got out of there at 8:30] on a pew that was ergonomically designed to cause maximum discomfort [i.e., to keep people suitably cowed at God's Glory and Might].) So, I'm humped. Yet another of my favourite shows that I can't watch. At least I saw Firefly's cancellation coming. This was just. . . yanked out from under me at the most pivotal moment in the entire gorramn series. DVD's are supposed to come out in August. I'm going to the bank tomorrow, and I'm withdrawing sixty dollars that I'll put in an envelope and hide. (That's after I write the $90 cheque I have to write tonight because mom forgot to pay the bill on March 6th that needed to be in by May 1st.)

Tuesday, 09 May 2006 02:15:23

For real. They keep hosing me with wrong or damaged dvds. Is this happening to anyone else? Oh, and good luck trying to contact or cancel.(so far, zilcho responso) Seriously, I am a very chill person but this is getting to be really annoying! And, it was BSG for crissake! C'mon, people, that's enough to piss anyone off. Hopefully you guys aren't getting screwed too, but if you are, feel free to let me know! Thanks for the rant.. Kitch

I've awake since Sunday afternoon. I guess it was productive. I worked 12 hours, studied for an exam, took an exam, started and finished my Vietnamese project (while watching some Firefly, of course). On the other side, I haven't studied for the Vietnamese final I have in 5 hours, well more like 5.5 AND I'm having a root canal/something very similar to a root canal done in an hour. It's going to be an interesting afternoon. Did I mention I have to go to work AFTER my exam. Boo.

March on Fox!!!
Tuesday, 09 May 2006 19:13:44

Okay, you know how I'm crazy like, right? Well, this idea just popped into my mind, and I think that its crazy, but then, so am I... a bit. Okay, more than 'a bit'. But, hows this: Gather all the Browncoats we can find, get a lota Jayne hats and browncoats, a few signs (Saying, in general: SCREW FOX, or BRING BACK FIREFLY, or GIVE US ANOTHER BDM, or etc...) and march on the Fox H.Q., them Damn purplebellies. Go up to 'em and surround the place until they agree to hear us out (Okay, not like a siege in general, but just show 'em that we are really pissed off at them. As I said before (and a lot a ya'll will agree with me on this) I'm crazy. But not suicide-crazy. Or homicidal-crazy. Or hurtful-like-crazy. So, please tell me what ya think!!!!! -Danny

At Home I'll Stay
Tuesday, 09 May 2006 21:32:40

okay, so kitkat told me to post it, but it's not firefly related so it's not going in fan fic area. It's not a poem, it's a children's story that just happens to rhyme. Hope you don't hate it At Home I'll Stay "I will not go to school," he said as he stomped his feet and shook his head. "I'll run away, at the circus I'll stay, if you make me go to school today." So his mother grinned a devilish smile "Fine, you can stay here a while." with that he gave a happy scream for this had often been his dream, to laugh and jump; all day to play, not sitting in class to waste away listening to the teacher teach the many noun and verbs in speech. His mind was racing he'd have to ponder on his free day where shall he wander? "What I shall do is take a bath, that is much better then learning math! Not a bath to clean my hands and toes, this one I'll take with the garden hose." But while he saoked to the bone he frowned, "it's not much fun alone" So, inside he went to play a game he had Nintendo on the brain. but when he had won, there was none to show how he'd demolished his eletronic foe and after sometime of sitting on the floor his little bum had grown cold and sore "I must get out and use some muscle!" He jumped on his bike in a hustle he pumped his peddles in a fury going no where in a hurry It just so happened as he flew He passed a building that he knew. The red brick stucture with grass surround but lo, his school mates on the ground? Crawling on their elbows and their feet the dirt and their nose did almost meet. and so this was with his whole class studying with a magnifying glass the creepy slimy crawling creatures for the dirt had been the lesson's feature. They all seemed to have so much fun moaning when the bell signaled done. He peddled hom in a hurry; slamming the door in his fury. "Why didn't I go to school?" he said as he stomped his feet and shook his head. "Stuck in this boring house all day, while my class, in the dirt they play. You can't make me stay home tomorrow!" as he wallowed and sulked in his sorrow "you really miss that learning place?" His mother asked with a knowing face "then have it your way my fickle son, go everyday til your learnings done." with this the boy became to pleased, he wrapped his arms around her knees he would go and let the teacher teach the different nouns and verbs in speech. and forever more the boy did say "I'm glad to go to school today."

I joined a forum about a week ago, Brackenwood, if y'all are familiar with it. I must be going crazy. I guess I go for the ability to talk to people without fearing for my life. (I'm antisocial, can you tell?) Anyways, I might be busy for a while. At the moment I'm fighting for my life against ninjas. With blue hands. *Paranoia* ~WG out

explanations...
Wednesday, 10 May 2006 04:36:52

So my first question is: what exactly is 'filk'? I am aware of what is posted there, but what does it stand for, what it the purpose? I guess that is all I need explained. But lemme explain somming to all ya. I am not gone. Just connected to crappy dial-up on the occasions that my family does not expect incoming calls, and does not need to place outgoing ones. It is a real shame that I have become so spoiled by the limitless and speedy connection I enjoyed at university. Alas, I sit and read and write. I seem to have lost my muse, though. My sweet lil Firefly muse who manefested himself through my biology lecture periods. Now, without the lecture, the muse drags. I try to refresh him with repeat veiwings of the series and film, however, he is weak. I have been provided with ideas, but only very few. My once noted prolifery (not a word, methinks how bout 'prolific-ness'?) has faded to a fingernail gripping cliff-edge. That makes no sense whatsoever. Anyhow. What I mean is, my muse is malnurished and I have no way to revive him. It pains me. I hate not writing. I cannot loose the Firefly muse. He was perhaps my biggest help, the source of my greatest number of fanfiction. But this rant must end soonly. Bed beckons and it is not weakness of character that draws me toward its embrace. Good-night sweet folk of net-land. Cheer me when next I sign on... AgentRusco out. *click*

Played some RPG games with my mates today, usually do on tuesdays. Also I went for a walk outside in the sun with a friend, drank cola and smoked ciggarettes and then went home and saw the Train Job. Thinking of writing a fanfic, dont usually do stuff like that, but ive got some solid ideas. Also, just downloaded Planetside, a friend says its a good game, and best of all a free game. Going to check it out.

Wednesday, 10 May 2006 21:04:42

This is a result of a highly enlightening and inspiring poetry debate an the firefly chat. Got otherwise nothing to do with firefly whatsoever. Dedicated to the inspirator SillyLittleDuck, and Hotshots(maybe it'll make him laugh and feel better). Please do not take this seriously.... Oh, pony there you stand all brown and cute and soon to be mine I'll give you sugar and I'll give you hay and I will with you all day play You will live in your nice warm stable and I will even install cable Yes I will love you all my life and treat you like I was your wife If this aint art I dont know what is

Mal, Inara and Moulin Rouge
Thursday, 11 May 2006 00:02:32

I was bored today so I decided to watch a few movies. I had each Firefly disk lent to 4 different people and my Serenity DVD to another, so what was I to watch? I put on Moulin Rouge and EVERYTHING in it SOMEHOW reminded me of Firefly. Especially during the "Elephant Love Melody". So i go on the internet. And what do I find? A Firefly fanvid with that song! Wow am I happy. For those of you who are interested, you can find it on:

Sounds like a Firefly Song
Thursday, 11 May 2006 02:06:15

This song is one i've been listening too, it reminds me of FF series, have a read and tell me what you think, NICKELBACK IF EVERYONE CARED From underneath the trees, we watch the sky Confusing stars with satellites I never dreamed that you'd be mine But here we are, we're here tonight Singing Amen. I'm Alive Singing Amen. I'm Alive If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride We'd see the day when nobody died And i'm singing Amen. I'm alive. Amen. I'm alive. And in the air the fireflies Our only light in paradise We'll show the world they were wrong And teach them all to sing along Singing Amen. I'm Alive Singing Amen. I'm Alive If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride We'd see the day when nobody died If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride We'd see the day when nobody died And as we lie beneath the stars We realised how small we are If they could love like you and me Imagine what the world could be If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride We'd see the day when nobody died We'd see the day, we'd see the day When nobody died We'd see the day, we'd see the day When nobody died We'd see the day when nobody died

I feel betrayed by my country...
Thursday, 11 May 2006 03:32:34

I had something brought to my attention recently and it riles me... Subject: Hi-School - Certificate of Completion The "Certificate of Completion or Attendance" that is being offered in lieu of high school diplomas, is a part of Bush's "No Child Left Behind". This is how it works: It is for students who are unable to pass both the Language Arts and Math portions of the 10th grade ISTEP. Students must take the same 10th grade test over in the 11th and 12th grades until they pass both portions. If they are unable to pass the 10th grade test by the 12th grade then they have two options: 1. Drop out and go to a GED program or, 2. Accept a "Certificate of Completion" - it is NOT a diploma. Once a student accepts it, they cannot ever get a diploma or a GED. A certificate of completion means that a student can never (as long as they live): 1. go to the armed services 2. go to college 3. go to trade school 4. go to journeyman's school 5. go to beauty school 6. go to culinary arts school 7. get a federal loan in their lifetime This is the portion of NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND (2001) that Bush slipped in during the 2004 revision of the NCLB bill. It has not been publicized. At a high school in Indiana, in 2005, there were 87 seniors in the graduation class. Five got diplomas and 82 got "Certificates of Completion". This is being referred to as the "Paper Plantation". It is better for students to drop out and get into a GED program so they may seek other forms of education, later in life, if they desire to do so. A "Certificate of Completion"?????? ARE YOU #%$#@$#%$%$#@$% KIDDING ME?????????? For years...YEARS...I resisted calling myself a 'teacher'. I was a Drill Instructor, I told myself. I don't teach. Recently, thanks to my supportive teammates and the nurturing and gentle (and sometimes less-than-gentle) guidance of my administrators, I realize that I AM a teacher. I don't teach Math, but occasionally, I remember something from middle school that 'clicks' with a student better than the method being taught in the classroom. I don't teach Science, but on occasion, I remember a nifty experiment that I'm able to duplicate in order to make the Science teacher's job a bit more interesting. I don't teach Language Arts, but my passion for reading...particularly poetry and Shakespeare, I've been able to pass on to many of the students of my school. Do you have any idea how it feels to have a young man who has spent most of his middle school years trying as hard as he can to 'perpetrate a pimp', or stay thugged out', come to me with a LOVE POEM for his girl, and ask me to help him re-write it? And to be able to pull down my book of Sonnets from Shakespeare, going through them with him until we find one he likes? I don't teach Social Studies, but the Military has sent me all over the world, and I've experienced every side of many cultures, good and bad. Occasionally, my "war stories" to the kids help things 'click' with them in Social Studies class. Guess what? I teach. Here's the problem. For every MINUTE I spend with some young man, digging through Shakespeare, so he can find a way to tell a young lady, "What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and you are the Sun!"... Some no-talent CRIMINAL with nothing more to connect to his name other than he got SHOT NINE TIMES is spending HOURS telling this same young man to objectify and abuse the same women. For every SECOND I spend adjusting some young man's collar, teaching him how to tie a necktie, telling him how James Brown and all the Motown brothers wore suits and ties on stage...it made them look neat and dignified...the audience took them seriously because they wore a suit to work... Some LOSER is on television encouraging him to walk around with his pants around his arse, with gang colors displayed and gaudy, tacky chains around his neck. The school I work at has a policy..."Discipline with Dignity". My goodness, it's frustrating to try to preserve the dign

What the Hell?
Thursday, 11 May 2006 11:32:17

For anyone confused about my latest addition to the Flashback stuff, here's a short back-story: Since the early 21st century, religious extremist terrorists have been waging a war against the free countries of the Earth for a simple reason: Their religion entails that no other can exist. Period. So, in the 2040's, after many countless years of democracy, the majority of the Middle-East formed the Arabian Empire. A coup of magnificent scale took power from their government, and so they raged a jihad (Holy war) against the world. That’s all Middle-Eastern countries. That’s a big army. So they took on the world, and war raged for 50 years until project PALADIN stopped them. What evolved from the project is critical to the storyline. That’s all I’m saying for now. The Author. P.S. The references to Torchwood and the Night Watch are only used because a) They are both groups with enormous power, and b) They are seriously cool names.

Go read "Fireworks" at www.stillflying.net! Now!
Friday, 12 May 2006 01:48:45

For those of you who don't know, www.stillflying.net is a virtual firefly project. Here is their mission statement:
For those of you who are not familiar with our project, Still Flying is a fan-based site dedicated to a "virtual continuation" of Joss Whedon's "Firefly" in the form of scripts of additional episodes. We've rounded out Season One, completing it with seven new episodes (including a season finale based on "Serenity: Those Left Behind" from Dark Horse Comics). Season Two is dedicated to exploring the question, "What would things have been like if Joss Whedon had been able to tell the story of Serenity in 22 episodes rather than 2 hours?" Our story will take you to most of the same places the movie does, but the path along the way will be a little different, and a lot longer. We'll see some old friends and more than a few old enemies. We can't promise that we'll entertain you as much as Mister Whedon would have, but you should know that this project has been put together by those who care about the show, and we're taking this bird up out of love. Like most Browncoats, we know that Whedon will return to us with another movie, book, or some other way to continue the tale he started in "Firefly." Until that time, we'll be here. We will hold the line. We can't show you exactly how Joss Whedon would've done it, but we can tell you... "Here's how it might have been..."
But why should you read this episode, of all episodes? 1) because it is really good and 2) I helped write part of the third and forth acts. The funny thing is, it is the second episode I have co-wrote. The first episode I helped write should air next week. So, go read! Katie

Headaches
Friday, 12 May 2006 02:39:20

My job has changed my hours at work and my days off. I am so thankful that I have an understanding wife. But this change has caused some headaches for me, now I do not spent as much time on the Fannet. I see my wife when she gets home from work and when I get up in the morning before heading off to work. Our time together has been cut. Any Ren Faire visiting is out.My days off are Tue and Wen so no more Sat off. I feel that I am being treated as if I did an extremly terrible crime by making an chose in a matter by my higher ups. A scapegoat, is the term. This whole things is giving me a massive headache.

Busy days, Jewel Staite and two movie reviews...
Friday, 12 May 2006 03:12:44

Well, to start off it seems like my days are getting busy. Got a LARP to go to tommrow; and it looks like my character wont make it through the night. Got a friends birthday party this Saturday, although I dont know if Ill make it since its in another town and I had mixed the dates together, also I might have to work on Saturday as a guard in a medieval festival. Spent alot of time today at a friends house just blabbering about stuff with my friends, was real nice, alot more lokey and relaxed then usual. We were going to play some games but never got around to it since we were having so much fun. Saw a post made by Jewel Staite earlier, kinda surprised me. Didnt realise the actors sometimes actually read our message boards, always though they would hang on places like whedonesque like Joss Whedon does. Also, how do you talk to a actor/director? I know that the chance of Jewel actually responding to my post are smaller then a snowballs chance in hell but still, came to think of how to adress them. Do you use their first names? I mean we dont really know them, so it feels kinda rude to assume we can. Do we use their full names? Feels kinda awkward somehow when addressing someone? Or do we use a Mr, Mrs kindoff addressment? The last one feels best to me, since we already know their names but arent really introduced. But what do you guys think? And finally, for the Movie reviews. Saw two movies lately, the first was Chicken Little, and the second was Land of the Dead. Chicken Little was funny at times but the ending was not only predictable but kinda silly, well, rather the stuff right before the ending. The actual ending itself was kinda funny. The movie in its whole was rather well animated and most importantly it made me laugh, wich was what I was looking for. However looking at overall quality it wasnt the greatest hit in the Verse. I give it 2/5 Land of the Dead was alot better, it was even better then I expected (remember folks that I like Zombie Movies in general). It had the right amount of gore (for a zombiemovie), followed the traditions of the craft, but didnt overdo it but instead made up some interesting twists. Knowing Romeros previous works and his style, the ending wasnt that big of a suprise. Overall it had some nice effects, good acting and severall nice plot ideas. I give it a total of 4/5 Well, that was all for todays blog. Ill try to post another tomorrow, but dont know if ill be able since ill be in another town. If not then Ill have another little message on Saturday. Going to watch some episodes of Angel before bed. See you all around the Verse!

Muse Rant
Friday, 12 May 2006 05:31:25

My muse is being gorram finicky! I cannot seem to write anything more along the lines of the young Jayne fic I started. I guess I should not be suprised, this often happens, but I hate it. I have the story points in my head, I jist cannot get them to translate to the keyboard and all. I guess it's back to one-shots for me. And I like em. Lots, however, it is annoying not to finish something. Gar. Maybe it will all change with a bit of rest and perhaps a brisk workout. Yeh. Later. AgentRusco out.

Wireless in Istanbul!
Friday, 12 May 2006 07:00:51

So, I've been in the boonies for several weeks, as in very little internet and no English-speaking news or TV or connections at all. Just me and my fanfic and my heavy drinking geologist friends, some lovely mountains with fascinating rocks to play with, but bad weather so it's been heavy on the fic, light on the fieldwork... Anyway, on my way home now and (lucky me) I have a 6 hour layover in Istanbul, the airport with no outlets. But, after much searching, I found a very quiet deserted spot with a table by an outlet and - who knew? Free wireless! I think I'm picking it up from the Airport Hotel business center. (It may be all over the airport, I haven't tried anywhere else, but somehow I doubt it...) So, if you're ever stuck in the Istanbul Airport, go to the lobby of the Airport Hotel, to the tiny deserted lobby bar. It's the spot to be! BTW, I'm working on finishing my fic, hope to start posting in 1-2 weeks! It's wicked long, and goes many places that surprised me. Can't wait to share! Yours truly in Turkey - mal4prez

Fanfic Preview
Friday, 12 May 2006 14:50:14

Got the very first part of my Fanfic series "Deliverance" ready for inspection. Let me know what you think about it, the names, the way I write the story sofar (not that it is much) and your theories. The story is set roughly five years after the war between the Independents and the Alliance onboard a Mallard class Medium Transport and it is basicly the tale of its crew and their lives. Think off it as a Firefly spinoff. Deliverance; Episode 1, Teaser. Captain Alexei Hon was lying in his bunk aboard the transport ship Deliverance. He had tried to sleep but he was haunted by memories of the war. Beneath his closed eyelids the fires of Shadow raged, never to die. He opened his eyes and gazed over the small cabin. The place was fairly well furnished. He had his own desk, a comfy armchair where he had often leaned back and enjoyed a good cigar. One of the walls was adorned with several old medals, ID-tags and other war memorabilia but also several crucifixes and other Christian symbols. Alexei got out of his bunk and strapped started to dress. After strapping on his combat boots he started to walk down the short corridor that separated his private room from the cockpit. As he entered the cramped pilot area Farah Hsu spinned around the pilots chair and faced him. ”Morning ´Cap” Alexei stared at the single most defining trait of her looks, a deep white scar running down her cheek, he had given her that scar the day he had saved her life. Farah spinned around again and started to check the control panel. “You had good sleep tonight ´Cap?” Farah was wearing a worn out coat, which supposedly had once been brown but now was more of a grayish-tan color. She had served during the war for the Independents as a codebreaker. Alexei suddenly realized that he had stood still for several minutes without uttering a single phrase. ”Not really Farah, anything up on the cortex?” ”Pretty quit, got some Alliance traffic in the system but otherwise we seem to be pretty alone out here” she responded. Alexei nodded, then leaned on one of the consoles. “You should get some sleep, I aint likely to get any so I might as well pilot this thing instead”. The two looked at each other for awhile before changing places. Alexei ran his hands down the console, he loved flying, and it took his mind of everything else and let him feel simple again. Farah turned around to walk away but paused for a while. “The ghosts will let go sooner or later ´Cap, it wasn’t your fault” “I know they will, that’s the problem Farah, I don’t want them to”

Somewhat of a victory
Friday, 12 May 2006 20:14:20

So, the people have been following my blogs know about my educational troubles. Well, got a letter in the mail today about this past years BS. Basically what happened was the I got really bad advise from the student union and that lead to the possibility that I would get straight F's this year. The BS that I'm talking about was written in three separate 15 page documents not including supporting documentation (and another that proves academic misconduct of the University I attended that never got submitted). I won't get into the content here, as I've talked about it before and what isn't in the blogs, I'm just happy it's all over and done with. So, no more re-hashing. The letter stated that I've won my appeal to get a VW from all my courses. This is only somewhat of a victory because I still have lost a year and $2500+. But, the victory is because my academic career is unscathed. And a lump of stress has now left my life *sigh* Will drink tonight

Soon to come...

GAH!!! *throws hands up in despair* never mind, i shall reward myself by watching Firefly and eating ice cream. and the fact that she doesn't get study leave and i do. HA!!! and the disturbingly good mood of the last month continues... b

Due to massive amounts of negative comments, I will NOT be posting any other Pot25C stuff here anymore. Ever. To give you an idea of why, some comments described it as "tainting the site" with "anti-Firefly propaganda." Others included "a sad knock-off of Firefly" and "reading it was like putting lemon juice in an open wound." I shit you not. ~WG out

Saturday, 13 May 2006 04:46:01

Lo, all. Been rather nifty lately. This fun and easy-going life of mine is about to end, and I ain't much to looking forward to it. Not much to do about it though. I've been working on the FanFic off and on... Not to happy with it all. I can never finish things. Been trying to study Buddhism real tough-like again. I think I need it... I think the world needs just a little bit of it, actually. No one really takes a whole lot of time to realize what they can do to this crumbling world. Dah, what am I saying. I never know where all of this comes from. OKAY! Outta that stage... Man. Graduation/birthday is coming up soon! May 27th. Hooray... Seriously, if I could become a monk who lives off the land, I'd die a happy man. Maybe one day. Anywho, I hope that the crowd is doing well here at FFF. Yall are such a warm bunch. Stay shiny, and remember-

Behind the Scenes
Saturday, 13 May 2006 09:45:54

Oh man. Does anyone know how tall Adam Baldwin is? I was watching some extra features on X Files dvd, and I noticed that he towers over David Duchovney (who is a little over 6 feet tall). Teehee, i have some grand pics, but I'm going to wait till the roomie has seen them cause i busted up laughing. Definitely worth rewinding and watching over and over. The boyfriend did the same thing. I don't want to ruin the surprise for her :P

A little Background
Sunday, 14 May 2006 02:43:13

My last blog was a huge cup of selp-pity, but let me explain why I went "overboard". 1987-2000 reasonably happily married or as happy as one can be when married to a man who cheats and is an alcoholic. He would fall off the wagon and things would be crap and then get back on and things would be great. 2000 move back to the UK and start suffering what becomes a 4 times a year pnuemonia cycle that continues to this day 2001 husband has another affair 2002 husband get arrested for Drink driving and loses license in UK - which means I have to drive him to the train and back everyday, take the kids to 2 schools 20 miles apart and pick them up take myself to work and do all of the driving for the next 28 months. Husband goes to rehab and ends affair. 2004 husband puts on medals he is not entitled to and is prosecuted. I have husband committed to psyche ward to keep him from losing retirement. Husband retires and we move back to US, buy house. 2005 Husband starts drinking again and not coming home. May 2005 I am diagnosed with Severe 3rd stage asthma that we can not control June 2005 husband announces he wants divorce to "find himself" He still loves me and will "be here for me". He promises certain amount of money and to help finish fixing up house and will do yard work, etc. June 2005 get diagnosed with Psuedomonas infection in the lungs that has colonized. July 2005 find out husband has been having an affair for the last year and has moved from my house to hers-find this out only because 16 yr old son sees father out with woman. Aug 2005 husband tells me he wants to come home. Sep 2005 takes younest out only once. Drives him to the stop and shop-buys him a coke and on the way home tells him "You can tell your mom that I am going to marry that woman" and drops him off - Great father huh? Sept 2005 husband reneges on all agreements Oct 2005 Husband remarries (bigamy) and removes me from Navy medical - prescriptions go from $60 to over $200 a month Nov judge throws out divorce Dec husband blames me for judge throwing out divorce, stops payments and hires nasty attorney. April go to court and the judge gives us no support - says we have to wait for court date. At this point he is only paying a nominal child support. My mother has been making my house payments and buying my groceries since Dec. We still have not been to court. I have to work 2 jobs, and we still don't have enough. Husband never sees kids. Although he lives 2 doors away. He just bought himself a new Harley and a travel trailer. They have been to bike rallies all over and they have a new truck OH yeah and he borrowed $21,000 from my mom to buy a work truck and he has not paid them back a dime. So I now owe my parents almost $40,000 (which they are not asking for - but it has to be paid back!). Big pity party for me! Oh well. Life sucks and you just carry on. :crap: I need a sugar daddy!

Oh and I forgot
Sunday, 14 May 2006 03:08:35

Pizza Day
Sunday, 14 May 2006 06:12:53

Today was pizza day, wich is more or less a sacred holiday in our household that happens every month or so. Few things can compare to leaning back on the couch and trully enjoy a good pizza while watching a movie. Felt like I hadnt eaten for days (dont worry, I have eaten, just not very good stuff). Well, guess its back to protein now as my daily foodstuff, but in roughly another months time...mmmm...pizza... Been watching Angel season 5 lately and darn is it good. Going to buy the DvD box when, and if, I ever get any money again. Untill then ill just have to rely on the kidness of friends to loan me stuff. Goodnight to you all, See you all around the Verse!

About the Same
Monday, 15 May 2006 02:00:14

Things are about the same, my job still gives me a headache but it is much smaller now. My wife is still understanding but I believe that this change is causing some stress but not alot. Been working on my story, well both of them in fact. The research in the second story is going along okay but still need a just a little more information.

Digital Borders
Monday, 15 May 2006 03:41:13

Realised today how close our little community really is to our beloved cast. Sure they rarely venture into our lands here, but many of them are simply a few seconds away via mail or different messageboards. I reckon that´s kinda rare, cause most "subcultures" or what were called these days, I get the feeling they hound their stars so that they stop having public MySpace pages or email adresses. Kinda got me wondering how many send a mail to Jewel each day asking about different things and such, and what our BDM heroes feel about it. What are the borders in a digitalised world? The problem here isnt finding people, its more should we contact them or leave them to their privacy. Getting a mite philosophical in this rant, so insted of just letting my mind float away im going to fix myself a nice snack and watch more episodes Angel, gotten to Smile Time now wich is my absolute favorite  See you all around the Verse!

Wacky fun...
Monday, 15 May 2006 14:29:34

So I watched Objects in Space. Possibly my favourite ep. I'm a River fan. "Anyone remember her coming at me with a butcher's knife?" "Wacky fun..." "You wanna go, little man?" "Only if it's someplace with candlelight."

The Reynolds Gang
Monday, 15 May 2006 17:24:32

At this point in my season, I'm beginning to give the story more of a turn toward a western than previously, as will be revealed through this episode and some of the following. (only a matter of time before Mal became famous, huh?) Thanks for reading!

My eyes are bleeding.
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 01:21:52

No, it's not the bluehands. My mom's computer has. . . I don't know what. Caught a virus, shorted out, popped a connection, died from extreme old age (it was built in the mid-90s). . . I tried to turn it on this afternoon after getting home from work. It konked out before even booting up. Rebooted, then it told me that these graphics settings won't work with this monitor (the monitor we've had for about a year). I tried to fix it in control panel, but that just makes it hang up and need rebooting again. It's currently stuck at 640 by 480 resolution, with 16 colours, and is flickering in an eye-searing fashion. I've been sitting here not 10 minutes and my head is throbbing. I need to scroll sideways to read a single line of Email, and pages reload multiple times (it needs to reload once for every image on the page). Letters are about half an inch tall (too big even for my nearly sightless mother), and it's trying to access a dial-up account that hasn't existed for about 3 years (mom has DSL). This machine was never stable in the best of times; takes about 15 minutes to boot up, will hang up if I ask it to do more than one operation at a time, pauses every half-hour or so to frantically try to access drive A (for no discernable reason), needs over a minute to open a "properties" tab, has wonky colour settings, and occasionally crashes for no apparent reason. I've delivered an ultimatum: either a new computer or internet access for my own still-healthy, (relatively) blindingly fast machine (it has it's own gremlin, but it actually seems to like me), but I have zero bargaining power here (mom is as self-reliant as she is self-centred, and she has no reason to listen to me). Mom says she'll call the computer guy tomorrow (read: sometime this month. Maybe). He'll no doubt be able to restore some basic functionality and she'll keep using this one. It's fine for her needs (basic Email, solitare, and Wordperfect), which means. . . I'm humped. What all this comes down to is I may not be here for a while. See y'all later.

Rain
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 02:26:16

Yes Rain. Lots and lots of rain. It has been raining here for the last 5 days. I usually like rain. I like to run around barefoot in it. I like getting soaked with rain water but this is starting to get to me. I haven't seen the sun in a week and our yard has turneed into a small lake. I'm just praying the septic doesn't flood. See, one of the best parts about a good rain is the way everything feels ands smells after. Colors seem brighter. and the air seems clearer. And the way it smells...you can smell the eart and the grass. You can almost smell the color. I want that part to get here. If it doesn't stop soon all I'll be smelling is sewage. I don't want that to happen.

Mal and me: separated at birth.
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 02:34:12

Every day, I find a new parallel with Mal. And today brings another one. He has nothing left to his life but his job and his crew. I have lost almost everything and everyone I ever had, for one reason or another. His only means of survival was to keep flying. I have only to finish out the day and get to the next. It strains the mind a bit wondering how a man's life gets to this point - what he did to deserve it. Mal was a rebel but it doesn't mean he was in the wrong. And I'm just a guy who thought with the wrong internal organ, made one stupid decision and turned his whole life into a rollercoaster ride of agony and ecstasy. What happened to Mal's family, to his comrades in arms? What happened to everyone I loved, everyone I thought loved me? No one close to me has died recently (knock on wood), but an unshakable sense of loss bites at me nevertheless. Maybe that was part of the tension between Mal and Inara. Maybe the only thing he really needed to die a happy man was love, but for the life of him he couldn't find it, nor could it be bothered to look for him. Then Inara came and then she went, and Mal's chance was gone. It slipped from my grasp, likewise. Everybody says that when you stop looking, that's when it'll come. But I stopped looking a year ago, and there's nothing. Not even a friendly devious glance from any direction. Life may be good overall, but verily this is the first time it hasn't sucked; and although not at the corner of No and Where, I'm very much alone out here, and so at almost 27 I'm a mean old man. I know what you're all going to say now, I'm young, I've got time, it won't always be this way, rant, rant, rave, rave. But when both sides leave you there, battered, burned and given up for dead, the sky goes dark: it no longer matters where you are or who you are, and the enemy is everywhere, and everyone. So here's us, on the raggedy edge. Mal is rudderless. I'm drifting from nowhere to nowhere. Wind blows northerly, he goes north. Wind is southerly, I drift south. Come a day I'll no longer know the difference between a hawk and a handsaw, nor will I care. somewhere there's a soccer game I can hear the wild crowd moan it's not that life here's distasteful to me it's just that I'm all alone in time I'll only think of you when I'm buttering my toast or in some other reflective moment when I expect the least or the most it's not that it's such a mystery I saw it from miles away.

Thank you Cedric :D

I was working at the Muskogee Ren faire in Oklahoma. (Silver Leaf Designs) And Cedric of Bedlam Bards was kind enough to come by with a copy of On the Drift. See vendors rarely get to visit or see shows. He was so thoughtful. Anyway, xie xie! I hope I can come watch a show at some point before the faire ends! *smooch!*

Tuesday, 16 May 2006 03:44:28

After two months of final projects, one final test, and training for my new job, I finally have managed to crank out a new chapter of YOU CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN. And so far, I've only gotten three responses. It's a bit disheartening when you spend two months on something and only get three posts, and none from you regular patrons. Misskitten, Cliomuse, Leighloki, AMDOBELL, Screw, gobluguy, artships, Lady Knight, Fredikayllow, or any of my regular readers. If you're reading this, please comment on my story. Peace

Fanfic on the way
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 04:51:06

Well my long awaited fic is going well. Anyway for those new to my fic, a brief idea can be seen on the link below. Jorja FIC LINK:

More Reviews and Adam Baldwin
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 05:40:49

Watched two movies today that I hadnt seen before, thought I might review them since I aint got that much to say today anyway. V for Vendetta was an excellent movie. It had some very good actors, good effects, a griping story and some interesting ideas. I liked pretty much everything about this movie, a definete must see. I give it 4/5. Scary Movie 3 on the other hand wasnt all that great. Granted, it was funny at times. But it had a lame story, low-pun humor, bad acting, and was filled with cliches. Im not much for Parodifilms, and this was far from the best of them. I give it a 2/5. Now, to my other notes about today. Saw some more Angel today and boy was I suprised when Adam literally kicked the door down! Seing forward to more of him further on in the series. And one last thing, I came to wonder the other day how many actually read the blogs here at Fireflyfans.net so I would like to ask you to post a comment if you read this, kinda like a poll. Well, thats all for this time. See you around the Verse!

WITHDRAWAL!!!!
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 07:44:46

So my roommate went home for a week and absconded with discs 3 and 4 of Firefly. She also lent out discs 1 and 2 to a friend. Maybe she gave discs 3 and 4 to the same friend . . . but dammit! She could have given me 1 and 2 back. Withdrawal sucks.

2139Hrs Returned From Dreaded Trip To Reality
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 12:54:40

Wow damn, hey Browncoats - oh its so shiny to be back after a long and dreaded trip in that parallel universe REALITY. :bash: I really do try to leave reality in the realm of ignorance. However, no matter how hard you try & deny it accessibility to your verse, REALITY will find a way to shove its head right where it don't belong & bite you on the gorram butt, Arrrrrrrggg. OK, now I've had my rant I have got few good things to share with my fellow Browncoats. Ah, I had the dreaded birthday last week - yes I'm now officially 39  but oh did I have a good day. I was chauffered around all day in a brand new Commodore Sportz sedan, by a wonderful lady. Haven't yet converted her to Fire Fly/Serenity verse - but I'm working on it. (Any Tips Browncoats?) Anyhow She took my out to The Essential Supply Depot (Barossa Valley Winery) to replenish my stock - YES fans I replenished my stock of the Mystical Elixer 'SABLE' - oh Yeah! Also got taken to a local farm and got 4 litres of milk straight from the cow for 25 cents/litre - Cooooool. My other verse OTR has had to take a back seat to gorram REALITY to, as the loathsome beast came up and gave me a shot of gastro virus just to let me know it was still there, hmmmmmmmmm. Anyway my OTR has led me into a fine appreciation of some great old and new Jazz - oh and I'm loving it. Recently I just bought cd's of Jamie Cullum, Michael Buble, Rene Olstead, Harry Connick Jnr, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and more. So besides my rant everything is shiny even if REALITY has been lurkin' around. Well back to it Browncoats - later on.

I Kaylee'd it again
Tuesday, 16 May 2006 16:12:57

Why is it everytime I drive down the freeway and see someone with a flat tire there is always a HP officer helping them change their tire. Yet when I blow a tire I wind up doing it all by my lonesome. Where is the fairness in that? Heck, I even saw a guy getting help once. Granted I did get the tire changed in less than 5 minutes, but it is still the principle of the thing. There I was a woman stuck on the side of the road at dusk and I had to change my own tire. I hate my competence sometimes. Love it, but hate it. I will never get to be rescued by some knight on a white horse. Knowing me, I would befriend the dragon and lop off the head of the evil king alll before his knightlyness even gets out of bed. And I wonder why I intimidate guys. Maybe that is why I am learning to knit....NAW. I just wanna make myself a shiny cunning cap.

Enjoy and discuss  The ballad of hope: "Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand I don't care, I'm still free, You can't take the forum from me Take me out, to the black You know I'm still comin back Burn my profile, and boil my avi You can't take the forum from me Have no place I can be Since the mods banned me But you can't take the forum from me!!!" To Joss and the fellow browncoats, i apoligise...I'm going to the special hell..again... :knife:

How I Got Into Firefly/Serenity
Wednesday, 17 May 2006 13:23:25

I first saw Serenity when it first came on DVD back in December, I really liked it then. Then, 4 months later... I netflixed Firefly, was mixed about it on the first episode, but after that, I started loving it. Then after I finished Firefly, I re-watched Serenity a couple times and it's now in my Top 10 of '05.

Browncoat found -- Thrift stores rule!
Wednesday, 17 May 2006 20:14:20

Went on a serious Browncoat hunt yesterday -- determined to find something. At army suprlus store, they had nice new ones for $50 but they were only in black. Made the rounds of the Thrift stores (bikin' it in the heat at that -- now that's obsession, gorramnit! Found severtal "do-ables" but they were either too heavy (as in actual military longcoats) or the wrong color or both. Finally found a light one, ends just above the knee, with a shiny'ness to it that is unique -- kinda like me. Anyway, it's a perfect fit (42-R), plus with a "look" that is a deep brown so's other Browncoats will spot it as a Browncoat, plus the ignint won't be thinking I'm some wacko perv is a mangy trenchcoat. Fashionably understated and stylish -- gotta find somebody with a digital camera to get some pics for y'all. A Anyway, thrift stores are definitely the way to go for cheap. Paid just over $18 including tax.

Bad News
Wednesday, 17 May 2006 21:24:35

Found out today that my Grandma is getting worse. Apperantly she has more or less stopt eating and showering and she fell down yesterday and hurt herself. My mother went to Iceland to bring her to Sweden so the family could look after her, but that aint happening now. Shes been put in a hospital now and although they tell me that shes temporarily getting better this is the beginning of the end. Dont know what to do right now, feel kinda lonely and deppressed.

LOL! That and I can fit into a skirt that I could hardly squeeze myself into... yeh!!! Go team Jess!!! LOL! But yeh, this was meant to be a short one - I have a few q's I want to ask you all but that can wait, I just want you to know that I am thinking about you, I have tried to contact you all on a few occassions and I'm smiling knowing your out there thinking about me :) Love

I'm back from vacation. Had a nice relaxing time at the beach. Weather was perfect, and the crowds weren't too huge. It's good to be home, though. As promised, I posted another chapter of Family. If you're new to the story, be sure to read the warnings! Bummed Out
Thursday, 18 May 2006 01:09:07

To begin with i am feeling a little down, one reason is my job. Since my off days have changed and my shift changed (I can live with the shift change), mostly its my supervisiors who are spineless jellyfish. They would not stand behind any decision that anyone makes others than their lap dogs. My wife is understanding to a point. This day off change has put a dent into our time together, which is important to both of us. Another thing is we are adopting a child from China, the waiting for the paper work to get finished is hard. Without knowing any timeline on the wait, we can not really plan any time off together because she has a limited number of vacation days. Also a place that we were planing to visit has burned down during the wild fires in Texas. I think I am just stressed out a little and need a good vacation away to get things in order once more.

For the people reading my fics...
Thursday, 18 May 2006 01:20:49

For the people who have been reading my fics, don't worry, this is not bad... I reccently heard a cover Lauren Hoffman did of 'Of All The Gin Joints In All The World' and I love it. It ambience reminds me so much of Inara and it makes me think of what I wrote differently...check it out...

Finally
Thursday, 18 May 2006 03:10:55

So I finally managed to update another episode of my second season. Whew. Been a whole gorram month. Unfortunately, updates still might not be as frequent as they were before the hiatus. I promised myself I'd spend this summer working on original pieces to build up my portfolio instead of my usual fanfics, seeing as how I've (hopefully) got another year left of college, and enter contests and the like to build up some credentials. So yeah...juggle, juggle, juggle and none of them're geese...

Thursday, 18 May 2006 05:25:15

Once More With (Firefly) Feeling
Thursday, 18 May 2006 11:00:38

okay, so...I had a little idea creep into my head and I was wondering whether it could work. To explain: I found my sister’s Once More with Feeling CD and sort of...made off with it, I suppose you could say. After secretly listening to it about a GAZILLION times, I realised that several of the songs reminded me of Firefly, as just about everything does these days (seriously, even my chemistry paper). Then I started thinking, “what about a Firefly/Once More... cross-over?” and I wanted to know what people thought. I guess the only logical thing to say now is, what do you think? Am I crazy? Am I dreamin’? Am I marryin’ a demon? Oops, got carried away... b

Shock to the system.
Thursday, 18 May 2006 14:08:29

I was a little early for my exam (nervous I guess) so I figured I'd stop in and get my assignment result on the way. Got handed the cover sheet and my coding assignment had been graded as E.:knife: Those of you who remember my blog from the day i finished this assignment will know that I worked too hard to fail. :pissed: So, went to see lecturer to discover that my mark had been mis-typed! He replaced it with an A. Apparently I got one of the top marks but wow was my heart pounding. Not the best state to go into an exam. :crap: That's one hell of a typo! In future remind me to pick up assignment marks after the exam!

Thursday, 18 May 2006 15:58:26

I have like, 50GBs worth of video I need to unload off my hard drive. I have no idea if the problem is with Nero or the burning thingy on my computer. Back in Brown
Thursday, 18 May 2006 16:56:02

Yes hello everyone I am back and shinier than ever because I have added one more Browncoat to the ranks! This would make my total 2 browncoats. It was hard I'll admit, but the BDM was the sealer. Also Today I leave for New YorK! Yes and I also am going to see Spamalot! (Hoping Alan Tudyk will be there for he seems to do well in any role he's given.) Also... I've Created my very own mule! Yes ladies and Gentlemen I used the BUild your own Hovercraft Plans on the internet to make my own Mule (I'm painting it yellow right now.) Pictures will be up shortly but does anyone know where I can get those cool Mule Skull stickers? I saw them on the internet somewhere...

This may sound like a really daft question....
Thursday, 18 May 2006 18:11:18

I dunno how Wash's full name is spelled. All the places I go, I see it differently. Washburn. Washbourne. Washburne. WAIT. I'm gonna watch the funeral scene...

Long day
Thursday, 18 May 2006 22:16:11

Been a long day, didnt sleep much last night so technicly its been 2 days . Now im going to crash down into bed and get some wonderfull rest. Wrote some more on the fanfic today, ive gotten roughly 6 pages in wordformat at the moment and more to come, going to write some more tomorrow. Took a long walk with a friend of mine this morning, got ourselves some nice breakfeastmaterial and sat in a park and discussed firefly, we started talking and finally we came to the conclusion to start a local "browncoat chapter" so we can have Shindigs, dressups, photoshots and more fun stuff! Let you know how it works out, were growing as a fangroup here in Örebro at the moment.

Finished Exams today!!
Friday, 19 May 2006 00:12:27

I'm finally out of college for the summer! I can't wait to start partying! I'm gonna get more drive time in and go for my provisional license by summer's end, and hopefully be able to drive myself anywhere, anytime! on a more ticked off note, my public transportation messed me up again! They didn't even have me on the schedule today!! well, that's all folks! JOSSISAGOD!

Where's CH?
Friday, 19 May 2006 04:37:23

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been around the site too much lately. I only have Real Life to blame. There's been a huge upheaval in my world lately. See, I've been living in the same house since I was brought home from the hospital some thirty-plus years ago. Now my parents have retired and they've decided to sell it out from under me. This means moving for the first time in my life - 300kms away from my home town. I'm completely outside my comfort zone, and floundering. I've only got my sporadic visits here to keep me sane. Thank God for Firefly! (How ironic is it that it takes a show set in space to ground me?) *sigh*:disappointed: New town, new place. Now all I have to do is find a job. It's gonna be a tough few months ahead. "Well, here I am..."

Okay... I feel lonely now...
Friday, 19 May 2006 21:29:12

Gorramit, but I must be the only browncoat in East high!!! I mean, I don't think that, out of three thousand folks there, that there are any Browncoat's there other than I. There's one guy what saw the movie... but he has a green mohawk and hasn't seen the series (why did I mention the mohawk? I dunno... shiny). And theres a girl what seen the series, but she ain't a browncoat neither. I can't think of ANY way to find another one, 'sides maybe wearing a T-shirt with "SHINY" stapled on the front. I have plenny a friends there, but no Browncoats. DAMN!!! (*sniffles*) -Danny

Nothing special.
Saturday, 20 May 2006 01:12:27

Had a pretty nice day today. Got up early, took a bath, did some dishes and sat a while infront of the computer. Then I went over to a friends and just hanged out and watched some movies. Have a small headache and im pretty tired so I guess its straight to bed for me.

Of Coursework and Exploding Toilets
Saturday, 20 May 2006 17:56:39

*Sigh* If there's one thing I hate about school right now (apart from it being school)is the Coursework. I just spent the whole of my Saturday doing Geography, English and Citizenship Coursework. Seriously. Citizenship. Why the hell does anyone care?? I didnt even choose it for GCSE, we have to do it whether we like it or not. Plus, its only half a GCSE, not even a whole one!! what is the point?? What bugs me as well is how every teacher at my school thinks that their subject is the only one that matters. For example, My English teacher wanted 3 pages worth of this essay we're working on for the NEXT DAY, even after we told her that we all had huge proper French exam the NEXT DAY, not to mention on going coursework in, like a million other subjects. So, there goes my immensely dull Saturday. I just wish something distracting and interesting had happened, like when the toilet exploded the other week. Sorry about that, just had to get it out of my system. Ah, the fun of an exploding toilet. (though I guess it was only funny because I didnt have to clean it up:wink:)

Sunburned
Sunday, 21 May 2006 02:51:24

Well today we did station maintenance and I got the job of mowing the yard.Oh course that also intelled weed eating. Well I spent over four hours, weed eating around the station then mowed. When I went back inside I noticed that my arms, face had been sun burned. We also got back some of the paper work we sent to the Chinese Embassy, they approved them. Now we are one more step closer to adopting. Oh well you have to take the good with the bad.

A friend of mine had a birthday party yesterday. It all turned out to be one fine night with lots of drinking, a bit of dancing and lots of fun games. Got home eventually and decided to write a blog entry only to find I couldnt connect to Fireflyfans.net, so I went to bed and decided to write this today insted.

convertin' the scoobie
Sunday, 21 May 2006 15:17:30

well the scoobie is becoming more of a browncoat... she was nearly in tears when Wash met his end in the film. And she can kick ass like Zoe.........

Relay For Life
Sunday, 21 May 2006 15:47:44

On Friday night at my school they had this thing called Realy For Life to raise money for a cure for cancer. It was an over-night walkathon. Me and all my friends got to camp out on the track! Not that I did much sleeping..some of my friends did though. But me and 3 friends stayed up all night walking the track while i told 2 of them about firefly (one was already a browncoat thanks to me!). I haven't had so much fun in god knows how long. And we raised $90,000 for the American Cancer Society WHOO!

signed prints and other stuff
Sunday, 21 May 2006 15:49:05

Just to let you guys know I've gotten so many requests to make my artwork available that I'm working out a deal with some fellow browncoats on a website to make various drawings and other things available to fans...signed prints, t shirts, etc., etc. I'll leave it up to them to make the announcement when it's ready to fly... so stay tuned fans... Every one seems to be commenting on how fast I seem to produce my drawings...so a little tech info...it takes about three to four hours per drawing on the sepia pieces. To put it in perspective a comic book page with an average of six panels takes about two days from pencils to finished inks...which explains why the comicbook work seems to be lagging behind the sepia work...

oh my god
Sunday, 21 May 2006 16:06:23

I'm a Geek
Sunday, 21 May 2006 19:14:22

I'm a geek, but aren't we all? It seems that some poeple just don't understand obession. I mean, it's not as if I spend ALL my time watching Firefly and Serenity and writing fanfics and making wallpapers and checking eBay for memorabilia. Not ALL my time. Only most of it. So there. I like to be a geek. It is a definition of character. I get to fellowship with other grand geeks and share ideas and have my stuff critiqued and alla that. I get to wear a ridiculous hat in public and enjoy it. I get to Speak random phrases of Chinese to throw people off. Best of all, I get to get other people as hooked as I am. Oh, it sure is great to be a geek...

Soooo...
Sunday, 21 May 2006 20:11:42

Right now, I'm sitting at home, avoiding doing my homework and listening to '7 Minutes in Heaven' by Fall Out Boy. I think that will be the next song I tackle...or 'I've Got A Dark Alley and A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth'. All I know right now is that trying to write a fic for 'Sugar, We're Going Down' will probably be the death of me...Damn. I wanna do a series for River based on Panic! At The Disco's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out since Relax, Relapse did better than I thought. And there might be a possibilty of Zoe fics based on songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Like I said...Possibility...when I hear all of Stadium Arcadium, we'll go from there...

A mild hangoverishness.
Sunday, 21 May 2006 23:06:09

So, today there was a mild hangoverness, a bit of boardgames and a bit of fun Firefly quoting. Was supposed to work on my fanfic, can I blame a very mild hangover for my lazyness? Watched the Langoliers the other day, pretty nice move. Bit aged effects though. Going to watch first episode of Hex i think before dead to see what its like. See you around the Verse!

Hello, Have you missed me?

And I would just like to adress the following issues......................................................................................................................... ah.......... screw the issues. but i would still like to say one thing. Malcom Reynolds is not god, JOSS WHEEDON IS GOD. Until next time :finger:, Malcomreynoldsisgod

Monday, 22 May 2006 01:46:15

I saw a pre-screening of this movie at the SXSW Film Festival a couple months back and enjoyed the heck out of it. Very sharp. And who can resist French with subtitles? Opening June 2nd. The two main charactors do all their own stunts. Nice! Check out the preview:

Monday, 22 May 2006 04:08:34

FireFly's 'Verse reminds me of Texas, good & bad grammer mixed with everyone packing guns (just no hopped-up pickup trucks). :) I do lead a very full life outside of FireFly (I'm an author & artist, I love to write stories & sketch but I'm not very talented). :( It's not like I'm obsessed with this show or anything... (ha!), at least I haven't gone so far as to wear their costumes (esp. Jayne's hat!)... I have converted 6 folks to the FF 'verse to-date, they've purchased the DVDs & music tracks (but not Jayne's hat). :) Counting down, chasing new FF converts! Hint: the way I convert new fans is by letting them watch my shows, I'm too scared to lend them out!

New Job and Quilt Project done
Monday, 22 May 2006 06:31:28

Well I got a new job and I survived the first week of it. It will be so nice not being poor. That was a rough ride there for a while. So far I like it...but DAMN do I make a lot of phone calls out to places. That's nearly all i did my first week. But I did get a reprive though. I took pictures and made ebay auctions with said pictures. Boss was rather happy with them icon_mrgreen.gif My man went to his parents to spend that with them. I would have gone too but he also went to spend time with one of his drama prone friends I don't care much for. So I skipped the trip. Instead I got a lot done around the house. One of which is FINISHING THE BABY BOY QUILT. Thank goodness. First I had no blue thread, then I was too poor to get any, then I got a job that keeps me too busy to work on it, and now I finally sat down and finished the sucker! So I hold it up in all it's glory! I'll take it to work and get a picture of it to share. I hope my sister likes it enough to let him have it. She is a name brand woman. I don't think she particularly likes home made things but hopefully I did a good enough job so she won't mind.

Winning a poker tournament
Monday, 22 May 2006 08:15:48

Got no where else to brag about this so I'll do it here. I just won an online poker tournament for the first time. Nothing major, only a $6 buy in with 50 players, but it's a start.

New fic: Easy Tickets
Monday, 22 May 2006 14:06:17

Fellow fairflyficophiles … I’m going to start posting my new story, yay!! It’s a busy work day, so chapter one as soon as I get a chance, probably this afternoon. Here’s the spiel on it: Easy Tickets is a sequel to The Fish Job. I’ll review a little, so you don’t need to read The Fish Job first, but it would help. It’s mostly written already. I aim to post every weekday, so it’ll keep coming... I don’t have so much internet on the weekends; that’ll be spotty. This is really a Mal/Inara story, though that may not be obvious at times. Buoyed by all the positive feedback on The Fish Job, I’ve let myself get a little more descriptive (wordy?), and I’ve also given my original characters free rein. I hope this doesn’t make anyone’s eyes glaze over! If so, hang in there - the BDH’s are still the main thing. I meant to go lighter than FJ, but I guess trauma and angst are just my way. *sigh* There will be fun, but I visit dark icky places too, beware!! This is rated PG-13 overall, with a fair amount of R and a little NC17. I’ll try to include warnings but I don’t like to give everything away at the top of each chapter, that can ruin the tension, you know? Comments comments comments!! I do this cause it’s fun, but the comments come in a very close 2nd!! Thanks for reading, and thanks for all the feedback on The Fish Job! You browncoats are the best! And finally - I have to say thanks big time to VERA2529, LEEH, and GUENEVER for beta++. The plusplus being much thought provoking discussion and so many helpful suggestions. This story has gotten way more complicated than I originally planned, and I couldn’t have worked it out without their help! EDIT: forgot to say - just to set the timing - FJ came after Objects in Space, this follows a month after. So pre-BDM. But this isn't going to stay in cannon, that's too hard to do! So I guess I'm going AU.

GRADUATION DAY
Monday, 22 May 2006 15:43:11

Howdy all! Today is a good day! Today is a sad day! Today is the day that my lovely, lovely, lovely first born son graduates from High School. All Hail FMF's lovely #1. It is sad because (a) it means I am officially old and (b) my 2 boys are my best friends and my most favorite people in the whole wide world and it means we are getting closer to the day that they leave me. :crap: They are blessings! I am very proud of both of them. I often wonder, how in the :censored: life we have led these last 17 years, they managed to come out so witty and charming and trully, trully kind. I take no credit, for I am sure I have done more damage than good. Everyday, both my boys renew my faith in the world. Kisses and more Love than I have for the verse to both my boys, and a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to #1!

Respekt the Thunder
Monday, 22 May 2006 21:17:26

Saw another episode of firefly with my browncoat mate Kethla today, gotten to Safe sofar. She doesnt want to fast since she is savoring every last drop. In the afternoon there was a thunderstorm, not uncommon for these parts during the summer. I noticed that the kids living in my building lack all respekt for thunderstorms. Im not frightened of them, I even like them, sitting there all snuggled up in the candlelight. But I grew up in a house wich meant that everytime there came a thunderstorm we would disconnect all the electronics and stay inside. These kids treated it more like a party and lacked any understanding of the real might and danger that lightning can bring with it. Guess its a bit of a culture clash thingy, oh well. Goin to hit my bunk now since im all tired and stuff. See you all around the Verse!

Old thoughts on the site being down
Monday, 22 May 2006 23:51:55

I was driving back home one evening last week, singing to the Buffy soundtrack when I remembered that I had once done a parody of one of the songs but I couldn't think what or where. Then it clicked that I'd done something after the official site went down for aaaages.... I can't find the original (I wish Google would search the copied version of the site) but as best as I can remember and improvising where I can't... Every single day the same arrangement We go out and write the fight. Suddenly today, a strange estrangement Pages not displayed, broken links in sight. We all need the host to show our posts, Just hoping it's not toast. We're just going for the refresh Clicking it in vain. Starting to make River look quite sane. It was always here and so delightful Now we find we're all alone. Suddenly the site has turned so spiteful, Why can't it be shown? Have Haken's fuses blown? We've got tales to tell, and things to yell, But this pain we can't quell. We're just going for the refresh Needing it right now Calling our computer a right cow. Will it stay this way forever? A Wash-like end to our endeavour? Call IT or someone clever, We don't want to be... Going for the refresh Hoping it's alright. And we can't even read The treehouse thread we need And we just want to see The siiiiiiiite.

Call me stupid - show status?
Monday, 22 May 2006 23:54:22

I feel everyone except me knows this answer - but it is incredibly quiet on the FireFly front. Last I heard, if European DVD sales went well there was a chance of another F.F. production (format unknown). Well, DVD sales in Europe have been phenomenal. How much more can us Browncoats do? Not knowing is bugging me! So, anyone heard even a whisper???

Living like the crew makes ya really appriciate things
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 00:25:00

When I got my new job I immediately made a list of things I wanted/needed to buy with my first few paychecks. I had to go without a lot of things including tuna helper while I looked for decent pay. It's on another computer right now but this is what I remember:

Fix the car: She was hobbling. It was hard to get her up to 50 MPH.
Pay back Eric: He loaned me $25 when I miscalculated a bill
New Bras: cause a wire was sticking out of one and the other few were just uncomfortable now
Bento Box: Cause I wanted a pretty one
Large Scarf: To cover my hair when I am in the convertable
Sunglasses: I lost mine months ago and they would look cool with the scarf :)
New Camera: The old one broke months ago, I was tired of not having pictures of all the stuff I go to, and I had my eye on a Canon Powershot
Wash Patches: For my sweetie's new Wash costume
Kanzashi: Pretty hair ornaiments geisha wear. I wanted just one to stick in my hair from time to time. My old bira kanzashi finally broke after so much wear with my kimono
Water Filter: Cause water in FL taste like a science project. I mean I never knew water from a city could taste so horrid and still be safe.
Air Conditioning: My car is black, and I live in FL I need not say more :)
Pedicure: cause I've never had one. I take care of my feet myself. I figure I'm old enough to endulge in one.
Warriors of Legend Book: Cause I still harbor a crazy love for Sailor Moon
Zoë's Dogtags. Meant to get them ages ago and couldn't. They'll make a nice addition to the costume. I've taken care of a lot of these by now. Car is fixed, eric was paid, I LOVE my new bras, I ordered a sweet yellow bento box, I got a large pink scarf that fades to a lovely toffee brown and looks most excellent on, got sunglasses that rock, my camera is the SHIZNIT I'll link to pictures it took at the end of this post. Now I just gotta remember to get a water filter next time I am at the mall. I haven't seen any affordable bira kanzashi I like, and we'll work on the rest.... I have something new also...I have a crown on one tooth and it has decided to venture away from me....so onto my first dental appt without parents around. This will be fun....cept not :P Onto awesome pictures! I apologize for the big ones... I forgot how to link up on here

Mal costume in the works
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 00:25:33

So, yeah... I was thinking about getting a haircut this week, but with Moonlight Rising in a couple of weeks and Serenity Day a couple of weeks after that, I think I'm gonna let it grow a while. And in the meantime, start hitting the Army-Navy store and the Salvation Army for suitable boots, coat and accessories. With the proper clothing and hairstyle, the nose ought to be pretty much the only thing distinguishing me and Mal - unless I can find a prosthetic nose while I'm at it. Geekery, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love Nyquil
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 04:11:46

But I love Tylenol Cold and Sinus Severe liquid more than Nyquil. It's the only thing that mostly relieves my upper respiratory infection agony enough to sleep. For that, I'm grateful. Even though I didn't get to scuba dive this weekend (stupid illness not allowing me to clear my ears) and therefore didn't get my AOW certification. But most importantly, I booked my flight to Hawaii!!!! I'm going to be a bum for 2 months. Well, 3 weeks really because I'm going to work on a farm for a month, but still. Yay! P.S. I also love that a bunch of The Forsaken are putting Forsaken related messages in their signatures!

Firefly Rescue
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 05:14:46

My recent Firefly-fandom random moments: No, really, I just saved a firefly from being squished! My mom was about to tissue the poor thing, but I stopped her and said it had extreme sentimental value, and was good luck. XD You should have seen the look on her face. She was like "Let, me guess...Serenity?" Yep indeed, folks. Also had a Miranda moment during my ACT a few weeks ago. One of the multiple choice answers happened to be "Miranda". I sort of whispered it, and the girl next to me also gave me a strange look. :stupid: Last weekend we were making visors at my friends house at her birthday party, and since I'm an impacient person who didn't feel like making a huge effort on this, decided to write "Can't take the sky from me" in big white lettering, complete with glittery clouds and a little albatross. Needless to say, my friends had a field day!

Tired, but Good
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 05:19:31

Got tired of not having anything in this space. Thought it needed words of some kind. Tired but good today. Been a long weekend, and I'm not too keen on going back to that one place where I spend most of my time. You know...that thing that starts with a W. Sad, I used to love my job, but now it's just one headache after another after another. Anybody want a slightly used bookseller?

Deliverance Fanfic FAQ
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 16:02:37

Im still writing the first episode of Deliverance, but untill then I can give you this FAQ to answer the questions I have recieved from you. Q:What is Deliverance? A:Deliverance is a Fanfic set in the Verse, the story is centered on the crew of the transportship Deliverance. Q: How long will the fic be? A: At the moment there are 4 "episodes" planned. Q:Whats the story between Alexei and Farah? A:Well, youll have to read the fics to find that one out. Q:Why do all the characters seem to have dark pasts and secrets to keep? A:The people onboard Deliverance stay on the ship because they all have darker sides that keep them from functioning in a normal society, its the factor that binds them together. Q:Who is Oakes and is he as screwed up as the rest? A:Oakes is the ships mechanic, and hes the most "normal" of them all. Q:Will the BDH be featured in this fic? A:No, at the moment I have not planned to feature any of them in the story. I do however plan to feature several "lesser" characters. Q:What characters from the show will we be seeing? A:Well, im not telling. Much more fun to keep people guessing. Can tell you they will not always be introduced by name so keep your eyes sharp. Q:Is Alexei religous or does he just have a thing for christian symbols? And if so why? A:Yes, the captain is deeply religous(hence the name Deliverance on the ship). Why he is a believer youll have to find out later, all I can say is that he feels that he needs to atone for unnamed sins. Also, I can say that he found God during the war. Q:Are any of the people in the fic based on real people? A:Yes and no, several of the characters are based on traits in my own personallity, but none of the characters are actual people. Q:Will there be a TVshow made of this? A:Frankly the funniest question ive gotten sofar, and no. Although I would love if Joss Whedon called me up and said, Hi want to make a firefly spinoff? I dont see it happening. Also, some of the scenes are a bit to hard to make a fanfilm of, atleast at the moment. But if I find a way, and good actors, the fic might be turned into a fanfilm in the future. Q:When is the first part of Deliverance due? A:Cant say for sure, Im hopeing it will be done in a week or so. In the meantime check out the preview I submitted to the Blue Sun section. Q:Is this fic going to get all brooding, dark and horrible? A:I will have to quote Joss Whedon on that one. "I'm very much of the 'make it dark, make it grim, make it tough,' but then, for the love of God, tell a joke." - Joss Whedon So yes and no again. The fic will visit some of the darker parts of humanity, but there will be humor in there, possibly some muddersmilk and a fair share of hope. Q:Will we be seeing some Romance onboard Deliverance? A:Possibly, dont want to spoil to much, can however say that a relationship between the current crewmembers is unlikely, and if it happens will most likely just end in misery since they all carry a huge amount of baggage. Thats all for now folk, see you tonight with another blog where ill be talking about my new jobb amongst other things. See you all around the Verse!

Saw Beer Bad, earlier today.
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 16:30:13

I just saw Beer Bad earlier today, and I don't believe I ever stopped laughing for the entire episode! I loved it!
Cave Slayer was awesome!
The very end was so funny I think my laughter shook the house! Joss Whedon is pure genius, but you guys already knew that.

Firefly/Angel Crossover
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 19:21:01

This is an idea I've been toying with for quite some time now. What if Firefly is Angel/Buffy five hundred years later? I thought of this question, and decided that I would go with yes, as I like to think of Angel and Illyria battling evil in the verse. Which further got me thinking that the Pax was not an accident, actually intended by Blue Sun, which is actually the new Wolfram & Hart. Anybody else think of this? I was going to write a fanfic, but...no ideas yet. Anyone? Thanks for listening.

Just Curious, River6213
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 21:39:53

Just curious, River. Why have you killed Seryn, Tristan and FutureMrsFillion? There may be others, but those are the ones I saw in the threads I was checking out. Have you been taking your meds? Siiimonnn!!!! Oops! Just found Dayve with a crossbow arrow through him. anyone know of any others? Ok, now I'm dead! No less than I expected.

I missed you guys.
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 21:42:21

Yeah, I'm back. The computer guy and I managed to talk mom into a new machine. It's all shiny and fast now. Also, I just ate an almond or pecan cookie (at work; there was a snack tray laid out for the big general meeting). I thought it was a raisin cookie. I'm violently allergic to nuts, so I just wasted the whole afternoon puking, curled up on the couch shivering, and trying not to scratch the hives. Pain. . .

Hello everybody!
Tuesday, 23 May 2006 23:55:17

Saw Joss's video on SciFi.com - he's still playing the future of FireFly close to the vest, sitting by a phone that's not ringing! It's worth a look, whaddya think?

New Job
Wednesday, 24 May 2006 00:12:40

Went to a job intervue today, and I got it! This aint all good however since the Job is boring, hard and badly paid. Will keep me stocked with muddersmilk and strawberries over the summer though. My Job specifikations arent done yet, since I work for a manpower company and I could potentially get leant out to all kinds of places, but given the city im in it probebly means warehouselabor. Congratulate me, or feel sorry for me. Not sure which is more appropriate.

Jokes of the week
Wednesday, 24 May 2006 01:40:31

Ok these are some jokes i heard during the week, thought you all might to hear them. They are not mine in any way shape or form. They are not intended to offend anyone and I appologise if they do. NUMBER 1- Three men were bragging about how they’d given their new wives duties. The first bragged how he told his Albanian wife she was going to do all the dishes and cleaning. He said it toook a couple of days but on the third day he came home to a clean house. The second man bragged how he told his Korean wife she’d do all the cleaning, dishes and cooking. he said on the first day he didn’t see any results but the next day it was better. By the third day the house was spotless and he had a huge dinner. The third man boasted how he told his Australian wife that her duties were to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, laundry done and hot meals on the table. he said the first day he didn’t SEE anything, the second day he didn’t SEE anything and the third day most of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye. NUMBER 2- The radio station is running a competition. The question is "What does Old MacDonald have and can you spell it?" An American rings in and says,"That's easy. Old MacDonald had a ranch. R..A..N..C..H.." "No that's incorrect," says the announcer. An Aussie says, "Old MacDonald had a station. S..T..A..T..I..O..N" "Sorry that is not right either," says the D.J. An Irishman rings in and says, "I know it. Old MacDonald had a farm." "And can you spell it?" the D.J asks. "E..I..E..I..O.." NUMBER 3. An Irishman has been drinking at a pub all night. The bartender finally says the pub is closing, so the Irishman stands up to leave and falls flat on his face. He tries to stand once more time, with the same result. So he figures he'll crawl outside and get some fresh air and maybe that'll sober him up a bit. once he's spent a few minutes outside, he stands up andd falls flat on his face. So he decides to crawl four blocks to his house. When he arrives at the door he tries to stand up and falls flat on his face. He crawls inside through the door and into the bedroom. When he reaches the bed, he tries once more to stand up. This time manages to pull himself upright but quickly falls into bed. He awakens the next morning to his wife standing over him shouting,"So you've been out drinking again" "What makes you say that?" he asks attempting an innocent look. "The pub called. You left your wheelchair there again."

Guests on chat site....
Wednesday, 24 May 2006 17:39:08

Tried the chat room, enjoyed talking to some great people. Then, som "Guests" came aboard, and really ditched me & the guy I was talking to...for no apparent reason. Pretty tacky lingo.... Does this happen a lot? It sure is a pity to ruin an innocent source of fun.

Chapter 3 in immident future.
Thursday, 25 May 2006 01:04:16

I've written and typed Chapter 3...and it should be up really quickly. Meantime...I only have two more pictures to make in my Bring me to life series and I'll probablly finish and post them tonight, provided I don't get really distracted by something-or-other.

One last joke for the week
Thursday, 25 May 2006 01:12:07

Again people this is not mine and I appologise if it offends anyone as it is not intended to. A married couple is driving along the highway at 60kmh, with the wife behind the wheel. Her husband looks across at her and says, “Darling, I know we’ve been married 20 years, but I want a divorce.” The wife says nothing but ups her speed to 70kmh. The husband continues, “I’ve been having an affair with your best friend.” Again the wife stays quiet, but grips the steering wheel tighter and increases her speed to 80kmh. He pushes it. “I want the house,” he says, and the car reaches 90kmh. “I want the car too,” he continues. 100kmh. “And,” he says, “I’ll have the bank accounts, the dog and the boat.” The car continues speeding up and veers towards a concrete wall. This makes him a bit nervous, so he asks, “Isn’t there anything you want?” The wife replies, “No, I’ve got everything I need.” “Oh,” the man says, “And what is it you’ve got?” The wife wrenches the car towards the wall at 120kmh and says, “The airbag.”

Playing Games
Thursday, 25 May 2006 01:59:09

Spent most of the day today doing two things; Making pizza with my roommate (yummy delight!) and designing medieval inspired games for use on LARPs and while working on Fairs. We were supposed to drink a bit aswell, but never got drunk since we spent so much time playing board games and discussing how to best modify gamerules. Also, I suspect that another friend of mine is hitting on me, she wants to get out of her relationship and shes been asking me if we could hang out (I know it sounds innocent but its not considering this aint the first time she has hit on me and she aint very discreet about her intentions), just not sure I want to be someones reboundboy. See you all around the Verse!

Since I'm such a loser...
Thursday, 25 May 2006 02:38:49

Last night, some of my online friends dared me to do a voice post on LiveJournal of me singing. Well, I did it. I sung like the first verse and chorus of '7 Minutes In Heaven' by Fall Out Boy and 'The Ballad Of Serenity'. I think I sound horrible, but I figured it would be fun to share...

Funny Story
Thursday, 25 May 2006 04:52:02

K, so I was working yesterday, ya? And I had to pee, duh (after seven hours). But we have no facilities, y'know. So I went to the lil Port-a-loo's out back. I undid my belt (no, this really is a G-rated post) and then I hear this *plink* on the floor. I look down and sure enough! I was all (seriously, I said this aloud) "DID THE BUTTON JUST FALL OFF MY GORRAM PANTS???" Then I said "Looks like." And burst out laughing. I think that anyone passing by the loo was a bit creepified by the hyena laughter. So there. My funny story. And now I have a pair of pants to mend.

Firefly and Browncoats
Thursday, 25 May 2006 05:55:24

YAY! So, my two year anniversary with Shawn is coming up so he gives me one of my presents early. He got me Firefly on DVD!!! *Jumps up and down excitedly* So we've been watching them and we have a new fan :) I also got a shiny brown suede trenchcoat on eBay for $7! How exciting. The coat itself was $1. Love it when shipping is more than the item itself. Glad i waited for the auction to end, cause the buy it now was $50. Not bad for a coat, but still. That's $49 i could use for other Fireflyee things :D

Sailing Beyond the Sunset
Thursday, 25 May 2006 11:56:43

Thursday, 25 May 2006 13:19:36

Damn, I used to love my name, like all the rest of the folk out there, I thought my name was shiny. Now, I am startin' ta rethink that there notion. Thanks to the Da Vinci Code (by DAN BROWN), I get no rest here! Its always, "Hey Dan, How's it with your book?" "Hey Dan, How was it writing your book?" "Say, Ain't you the g`uy that wrote Angels& Demons?" God, Bloody Hell, and Purgatory... would they just SHUT THE F**K UP!?!?!?!?!?!? -Danny (Though maybe not for much longer)

Jubal Early
Thursday, 25 May 2006 14:29:00

Was just strolling thru the episodes on IMBD. Has anyone noticed that the actor playing Jubal Early was in The Crow- City of Angels as Judah Earl? Kinda spooky, huh?

Pretty tacky lingo... Ouch. Does this kind of thing happen a lot? I'm sure there are good guests, but the bad ones sure ruin an innocent source of fun.

The tale of the exploding toilet
Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:32:43

OK, so I mentioned the expolding toilet in my last blog, so in case some of you were going eh?? here is the full story. First of all, my house is like 200 years old, and old house = old plumbing. A few weeks ago, there was a big blockage in the main sewer pipe that runs along the road (nothing to do with us, I might add), and everytime it rained heavily, the water in our toilet would come right up to the brim. Not over the top, just up to the brim. It was only us that got affected because ours is the only downstairs bathroom in the block of houses. After weeks of my parents ringing up the council, these people finally came with a big hose to blast the blockage out. So they put it down, turned it on, and they either put it down the wrong pipe, or it was too powerful (got confused by all the technical jargon), and all this water came shooting out of our toilet, covering the whole bathroom and most of the ceiling in sewer water! My Dad came to pick me up from school that day instead of my Mum, and the conversation in the car went something like this: Me: Where's Mum? Dad: At home. Me: Why? Dad: She's cleaning the bathroom. Me: Why? Dad:(completely straight face)The toilet exploded. Cue me dissoving into hysterical giggles! My mum didn't find it funny at all, probably because she was the one who had to clean it up!

Holiday!!!
Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:46:53

I'm going on holiday tomorrow!! Yay!! I'm going to Sark, a teeny tiny island in the Channel Islands. Its great, because its so small (about one mile by two), there are no cars and no pollution, so you have to cycle or walk everywhere. It also has the most amazing beaches, even though you have to down about 300 steps to get to them. Its also really beautiful. The only bad thing is, I have to take my geagraphy coursework away with me :disappointed:.

long journey
Thursday, 25 May 2006 22:23:21

Well, after about a 1500 mile drive, I have arrived at my new abode on the east coast. It's been a hell of an adventure this week...new job...new town...new state... -Still don't have the DSL set up at the new place so I've resorted to wi-fi hunting with the ole' trusty laptop. With luck, hopefully I will soon be back to my browncoat browsing of the net. still flyin' -nevis

Gorram im tired!
Thursday, 25 May 2006 22:57:32

Gorram im tired. Been playing boardgames and drinking drinks with a mate and my brother all evening. Same guy that was here yesterday and kept me company. He and his girlfriend (another friend of mine) are in the middle of a breakup so I guess he feels the need to be somewhere else. Going to go to bed now. See you all around the Verse!

The End of an Era
Friday, 26 May 2006 00:34:47

Well, that's it…yesterday was my high school graduation. That means 1) I am now a full-fledged participant in this horrible, horrible thing called the Real World, and more importantly 2) I will now be writing much more frequently (I hope). So, if you've been wondering where Part 2 of Scorched Earth is, I'm here to reassure you that it's coming. When? Well, if not tomorrow, definitely by this weekend. Liu fa liang, zong se ao!

Afterthought
Friday, 26 May 2006 00:35:10

X3: The Last Stand opens tomorrow.

Hello!
Friday, 26 May 2006 01:12:19

Well, I came across the website and I thought I would join. I mean, why not? I love Firefly and supposedly so do you. So...hello people! -Jennifer

X-3. My honest opinion. (spoiler free)
Friday, 26 May 2006 12:02:29

Ok. So I saw the film last night and I've been processing it since then in my mind. I've always been a comic fan and then the cartoons and movies so I tend to watch who's in the background of every scene to see if I can name them. I really didn't need to do that this time though because the director kept shoving the camera at them as if to say... 'look, look at the powers, look'. As a fan I enjoyed the film, the effects are great and there are some really OMG moments. As a critic the directing was a little off and the writing left much to be desired. Bits of conversation was stilted (although this could mean deleted scenes) and there were too many 'profound lines'. By this I mean, when a character has a moment of realisation and says something like 'May God help us'. Once or twice? Fine. Repeated instances of this? I begin to question the script. Overall I enjoyed it and will be seeing it again and buying the DVD, but as an example of film-making the director should have a serious paycut... I know you have pretty/handome actors/actresses, but a round of close up reaction shots after every major event is not necessary. Inner fan girl liked the effects, loved the darker storyline and is still somewhat in awe of the film. Hmmmm this is quite long, maybe I should post a thread?

Serenity Cubed
Friday, 26 May 2006 12:42:27

So i go to my box today to check my mail, and guess whats in it? My S3 ticket! woot, i'm excited but nervous, cause i don't know if i'm around, theres talk of a deployment in September(At least I know ahead of time right?), so i havn't booked a room cause I won't know the date i'm actually leaving until July when i get back from visiting my family. I'm hoping rooms will still be availble in July, so i can just book then, but IDK. if my digital camera was working I'd put up a picture of my ticket just to brag a lil bit more, but its not :crap:

hi ya'll
Friday, 26 May 2006 14:38:06

this is my first time doing this sorta thing so i'd just like to say hi and i hope ya'll are ok. sway

So now I am embarrassed
Friday, 26 May 2006 16:21:26

So my teenagers went and created a Yahoo Personal profile for me. I am getting ebombed now. The link is in the Imponderables most recent thread. It is very embarrassing. I do not know how to talk to people I do not know. On a personal level. At work I am fine. I am not a "small talk" person. Now I can talk all day about nothing. Just not with people I don't know. So here I am. The world can see me and I don't know who is looking. Its a bit gratyfying tho. Gives a girl a boost. :crap:

ok the last days of school
Friday, 26 May 2006 18:37:08

Can I just say I really hate the last few days of school. The administration makes us turn in all the books before the last week so the kids know they don't have to do anything because grades are cut off, but we still have a whole week with them. What a waste. Oh well...Still teaching is the best job on the planet. Mind you I could really go for that lovely outdoor classroom with a few bright students and electronic tablets for the kids with touch screens>>>Come on Joss when's the 'verse getting here?

hey Firefly in class
Friday, 26 May 2006 19:09:40

yes I keep posting and typing and such. Profound boredom has set in and I just had the best idea. I think I could come up with a way to use some Firefly episodes in my English classes when we are learning narrative structure and I was wondering if anyone ( mostly looking for parent opinions) would object if their junior high age ( that's 12-15 years old ) child watched a Firefly episode in class. I would probable stick to the train robbery as it has the best narrative structure and the least inappropriate comments. So what do you think?>

XMen, singles profiles and Fridays
Friday, 26 May 2006 19:57:26

Been a crazy, crazy day. Had nine issues today all before 10. Think all but one is closed today. Been emailed by some interesting people. Had some lovely comments from you SHINY people. Not well today. Asthma is acting up and I have this fantastic cough. It is starting to hurt in my chest when I cough, so I llok forward to another prescription! Yeah Me! My kids (all 47 of them) want to see XMen 3 tonight. So I am going to try to stay awake long enough. May need a nap before hand. Interesting that the local theater is playing it around the clock. This movie is going to be big. I wish Serenity had this kind of buzz. But then again, do I REALLY. DO I want the masses in love with the BDM. Can they really appreciate it? I think not. This profiles thing is really weird. I have not been out on a date for almost 20 years. Not sure I am ready. Unless ofcourse FurtureMr calls. If that happens you wouldn't see my backside for the door! Oh MR! Fridays! I LOVE Fridays! Or I would if I didn't have to go to my other job tonight and tomorrow. May have to stop at the DR tonight, so work and the movie could just be a pipe dream :disappointed: My work crush, who is married, is married. Oh and he is um 3000 miles away. But he is lovely and he makes my day. SO thanks Work Crush. Happy Memorial Day peeps. Remember those that have served this country! Say a prayer for the boys and girls still serving!

Thanks Everybody
Friday, 26 May 2006 20:21:59

I've been with this site a few months now, and its safe to say it's the best thing that has happened to me. Before you say: 'Wow, what a loser,' understand that I am a loser, in the truest sense of the word. Before this, I was in...a bad place. Needless to say, it consisted of negative contemplation. But, then I watched Firefly, as kind of a last act, if you will. I was finally happy with something in life, actually made happy. It doesn't sound like much, but it was a lot to me. That brought me out of contemplation, and into decision. I started to recover, and became less of a loser. Well, in my own mind, I guess. A thank-you to everyone here who gave me faith and happiness, be it through creation, wit, or just someone who's there, namely: Dr. Pain SameErtia Flywithmecaptn Guywhowantsafireflyofhisown (llamas) Copilot Citizen Phoenixrose Chrisisall Joss Whedon and the Cast Thanks for listening. -13

Except I dont really feel like drinking any more alcohol for a while, even though I havent gotten drunk any of these days. And he sticks around for a long while which means I dont get to bed untill late in the night.

Muse News
Saturday, 27 May 2006 06:02:22

So I figured out why my muse went lame. I haven't any fodder. That is to say I haven’t been watching the show! I need to be continuing to watch the show and the film over and over to get more ideas. So I'll get right on that. Damn, though, I haven’t much spare time. I've got workingness most evenings. So arg. But I do have a few lil tads of stars that my lame work muse spewed to me. They aren’t much and they won't likely ever be complete, but once I type em, I'll go ahead and post em. Also, I need to re-download my screencapping program. I really don’t think I'll be able to go on without it. It takes fridden long to download though on this slowness dial-up connection. Another all night download and an early morning to free the phone line. Goodie. Good news of the day: I got some grand olive drab coveralls. Yes indeed. I can now play at being Wash.

Try again
Saturday, 27 May 2006 15:07:14

Damned weather! Our flight to Gurnesey got cancelled last night, after we sat in Manchester airport for 7 hours, because it was so foggy down there. There goes one day of the holiday. So we're off again now, and hopefully, hopefullywe might get to Sark by Sunday.

Strep Throat Sucks
Saturday, 27 May 2006 16:21:51

Gahh... I hate being sick. :vomit: First I thought I'd pulled a muscle in my neck, but once that went away I realized my throat was swollen. Still isn't really all that sore, but it's definately strep. I'm so swollen that I can feel that little hangy thing in the back of my throat touching my tongue :P Keep putting off going to the doctor, too. My insurance isn't all that great, plus I'm just too plain lazy. Been trying to kick it with some herbal remedies but it looks like I'm going to need some actual antibiotics. Wouldn't even bug me that much if I wasn't still in the infatuated stage with my girlfriend. Not quite as romantic when I have to suck down a lozenge before we get into sucking face :P Anyways, that's going well at least. It's the reason I haven't been hanging around here as much. But I have managed to convert her to the 'verse rather quickly. We've got Heart of Gold and Objects left to watch, and then she can finally stop bugging me about the movie. Finding Firefly's actually a pretty good date show, really. Lots of laughs, and some good touching parts that are rather conducive to cuddling. Plus it's always a treat to see someone responding to Firefly the first time through. I think maybe she's a little jealous of Kaylee, though. But it's only fair 'cause I think she's got a thing for Mal. (She was watching almost too closely during the beginning and end of Trash the other day... :) Still, it's nice to have someone to watch the show with finally. Was getting lonely watching it all by myself and not having anyone to share the laughs with. I think we woke the neighbors the other night during Jayne's "I'll be in my bunk" proclamations. :P Okay, so. Now I'm rambling. Again. Guess I'll stop, then. Spread the word, keep the faith, and hold the line all you shiny 'Coats. Captain Verbosity signing off. :stupid:

4th day, and no drinking!
Saturday, 27 May 2006 23:31:57

Yet another day that my friend fled his house to escape his ex (yes, they still share an apartment). This time we were at a mutual friends place.. and he was drinking. But I didnt! Hurrah for me! Really really didnt feel like drinking poorly tasting beer another day in a row. Instead another friend of mine bought me a Pizza with extra cheese (mmm, cheese) and we all (7 in total) played Talisman all day and then watched a movie. Been a pretty nice day in all.

First Blog - Exams and Stuff -.-
Sunday, 28 May 2006 00:59:34

Ok so I've been reading a few people's Blogs over the last couple of weeks and, while I still have little to no idea what they're all about, I thought I'd write something to give it a shot. The biggest thing going on with me right now, unfortunately, is nothing fun like watching Firefly all day or...well there's nothing more exciting than that! but And what a great topic I have! My 2nd year University Exams. Bah. So its 5 days until my first exam, and the stress has begun to set in. Partly due to the usual "oh my god, exams, important, life altering" but *sigh* largely because I've been a little too...relaxed...with revising. Six different subjects to revise, each with 8-10 weeks of lectures notes on roughly the same number of topics and I'm only half way though going over the second subject. Stress! I'm taking some (small) comfort in the fact that the first exam (the only subject I've fully revised) is followed by a free week before the second exam (which I'm half way through), giving me some time to go over the remaining subjects. I'm faced with the unenvible task of going over 5 weeks of notes tomorrow to complete my revision of the second subject, and that's no small task, and then going over another 2 subjects before Thursday and the first exam. I really don't want to have more than 2 final subjects to revise in the week off after exam 1 so the only solution is the cram like mad every day for the next couple of weeks. Joy! I know I should revise earlier, and I tell myself every year that I will, but it never happens. Guess it doesn't help that one of my best friends is exactly the same as me and we're both frantically revising our butts off. There always seems to be something infinately more interesting to do and the revision gets set aside. Anywho, I need to power my way through a few weeks of notes on Psychobiology (yes, its as interesting as it sounds) despite the fact that its almost 2am. I've promised myself I can watch a *whole* Firefly episode afterwards, and god knows that's the only thing that's going to get me through the next hour! I think one word can sum up how I'm feeling, and how I will undoubtably be feeling over the next 2-3 weeks: STRESS. -Brexan out!

We're #1!!
Sunday, 28 May 2006 03:11:07

They waited till the last moment possible, but we - the Canadian fans - have voted Serenity as the best movie of year for 2006 at the Space! Channel's Spacey Awards! Another feather in our BDHs' caps...and just another piece of ammo for our eventual return! Everyone...raise a glass (you choose the beverage) to victory! BlueEyedBrigadier

Tried to convert a friend of mine.
Sunday, 28 May 2006 04:15:10

Yup, I tried to convert a female friend of mine who I only see a few times a year, We got to "I love my captain.", and she got bored. I guess some people just don't like Sci-Fi. Oh, well I guess we have other things in common besides Sci-Fi. well, that's all for now, Long live Joss Whedon! JOSSISAGOD!

Sunday, 28 May 2006 19:15:54

Hey all! Just wanted to say that chapter 13 of "Over the Hills" is at 3,500 words right now, and will hopefully be finished in the next few days (and then will become the first chapter ever to be sent to a beta-reader, which should be cool). I warn everyone in advance, this chapter is looking like it will run long. Sorry for the long delay between chapters. I've had lots going on in the real world that has been sucking away my motivation (and my time), but it looks like things will get back on track. For those interested in the stillflying.net project, a new episode "Monsters" was posted last night. I wrote the first draft of it what seems like ages ago... I think it was about a month ago, actually, but now it is finally finished and posted, so yay. Peace. Katie

Comments/Reviews/ Whatever
Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:51:12

So I don't have to preface every comment I make with - its my opinion and not meant to offend - I'm posting this here for anyone, and everyone, to read. When someone posts their work on a public forum that allows for comments, that author/designer needs to understand that they aren't always going to get responses that they want to hear. I'm a pretty blunt person. If I'm going to take the time to comment on something, I'm going to give my opinion and it may not always be praise. If I see something I disagree with, (and its usually characterization or spelling/punctuation) I'm damn well going to mention it. You don't have to agree with me, (and really I do love to debate subjects but not until there is nothing of the original topic left but bad and hurt feelings on one or both sides) but conversely you don't have the right to tell me my opinion doesn't matter. I always attempt to make sure my comments are made it in a polite way. It's possible to fail in that due to the unemotional nature of reading simple text on a screen. What I truly detest is when I, or someone else, makes a comment and then is sent a private message being attacked and flamed for that comment. Ever think you took that comment wrong? No. Probably not. Some wonder why people leave anonymous reviews. Huh. Perhaps those who want to shove their opinion rudely down someone's throat and who cowardly flame in private and kiss ass in public ought to re-think what they're doing. I like reviews, whether they are good or bad. It doesn't matter so long as they are constructive. I want people to point out if they think something is out of character. I may not agree, or I might. Maybe the reader can point out something I missed or didn't think of.

Not much
Sunday, 28 May 2006 22:28:41

Cant say I did much today, watched a few episodes of season seven buffy and then went over to a friends to play some games, hangout and watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, cant get that willy wonka song out of my head now  Also, I found out that Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn) and me are the same age, wich kinda confused me since I always percieved her as alot younger. Not much else to say, so, Goodnight to you all and ill try to think of something more creative to tomorrow.

The most heartening thing I've seen in a while
Monday, 29 May 2006 01:19:26

LONG story short, I'm spending the semester studying in Chile (the long skinny country in South America? That's the one!). Today I went to the local Blockbuster (yes, they have those here, freaked me out too) in search of X-Men movies. But there, on the shelf, in the new releases section, were four copies of Serenity! AND one of them was already checked out. Yay!

x-men
Monday, 29 May 2006 03:17:43

I'm telling you here and now, if you don't want to see spoilers you should stop reading and leave. Well, I saw x3 friday night, and I had the same reaction to it that I had the first time I watched serenity: a simultaneous "This is awesome" and "God, this sucks". To make a long story short, the writer pulled a shakespeare and decided to kill nearly everyone off, starting with Scott and professor X and ending with Jean. What is really interesting is if you stay and watch the clip that is after the credits. The clip starts off in a hospital with a woman tending a person that is covered in bandages. Then you hear a familiar voice call the woman's name. She looks suprised, then calls out "Professor?" This clip confused me, because the professor dies in such a way that he could not possibly be alive still. But then I remembered something from the beginning of the movie, where the professor shows his class a man in a hospital bed and tells the kids that although the man is functioning on his own, he has no consciousness and never would. He then starts a discussion with them about the ethics of putting the consciousness of a dying person into that man's body. At first I thought that clip was just a throwaway clip, a kind of side story thing that was just there to show that they were teaching the kids in the school ethics, but now I think it was there for another purpose, to set up the clip at the end. I think that as the professor was dying, he put his consciousness into the man in the hospital. That's why the nurse was suprised when her paitent spoke and why she was suprised that the man that spoke to her was the professor.

Just An Update III
Monday, 29 May 2006 04:06:23

Lo, all! Its been too long. Hope everyones doing well. School is officially over, and life has begun. Oh, how I dread it all. I hate the modern day, but I guess that makes me a hypocrit, seeing as how I'm using a computer at this very moment... Anywho, computer time is VERY limited now. I never got to print the Fanfics I wanted to print. Darned printer and its no paper evilness. I don't have a good computer at home, rather, don't have the Net at home. What to do. I'll just have to rely on wealthy friends and their comptuers. Yeah, it was good. I had my graduation ceremony as well as my birthday on the same day! Talk about a rude gift. "Yorik Kirmah, you're now an alumni! Oh, and happy birthday! What to get you... Hmm... I know!" *spanks my rear* "Go out there and be somebody!" Dang. Well, I must go... Stay shiny all! I love you!

So i'm jumpin to get into character and all that. My character's name is Jennifer Natalie Price. Nick name "Price". She's a merc, it worked in my head. ya get it, right? Anyway. I just joined this site aswell. Looks awesome. came upon it by accident. But the best things happen that way, you know. anyway, anyone interested in the sim, drop a line.

Motion City Soundtrack
Monday, 29 May 2006 05:08:35

So I caught Motion City Soundtrack when they rolled...or rather, flew...into Hawaii on Saturday. Ranks up there in like my top...5...shows I guess, even if Justin screwed up his foot and couldn't go all crazy. And believe me, it's quite a list...despite the fact that Hawaii doesn't have the best pickings. But about that... I can't believe it's been almost a year since my last show, which was Billy Corgan last summer when I was up in San Francisco. I should say that really my last show was The Eagles doing their Farewell I tour in December. It's been a year since I saw a show at a club and Hawaii venues are pretty crappy too. Far, far too small for this stuff. Not like the Fillmore where I saw Billy Corgan. Also...what's up with all the little ones? All they do is take up space up in the front and then they have to push their way back when the heat/moshers gets to them. Now that I'm 21 going on 22...I'm getting to be a really big fan of 21+ shows...or at least 18+ shows. Or maybe an 18+ line at the club... You know, if you're under age you stay at the back. Or...well...Hawaii could get some bigger venues to host shows, haha.

Firefly Trueths Poetic Edda
Monday, 29 May 2006 17:32:26

The light is lost in the depth of shadow. (The rim planets out of Alliance influence) A glimmer of the crescent moon crossed the blinding dread of fear. (The thought of Miranda and what the Alliance did to it) The smoke of death suffocates the barren land. (All of the People are dead asleep foreboding to the creation of Reavers) Leap out and live we the lost, but by the beat of a heart fight back. (How Mal needed to transmit the message from Miranda and how River had to fight to save all that she cared for all that she had in the verse) The court of this obsession (love of Firefly), is abstracted from possession (to own the DVD) which when the worlds of outside in fall. (Knowing that there is only one Season of Firefly and it broke how one views life)

The end of Buffy
Tuesday, 30 May 2006 00:12:33

Just watched the last couple of episodes of Buffy, Seen some of them before, but my viewing of season 7 had been scetchy as best before. Just loved seeing Nathan in action again, liked him alot. Hated kennedy pretty much all the time, kept wanting Tara to return and take her place. And the roleplaying scene, made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, on of the funniest moments in buffy histori. And Spike ofcourse. Going to watch the last 4 episodes of Angel soon to, havent seen those before, wonder how it will go.

Reflections on Memorial Day...
Tuesday, 30 May 2006 02:13:28

Did you know… Only 27% of Americans even know what Memorial Day is FOR? Can you believe that? For anyone who is not from the U.S., Memorial Day is the day set aside to honor our fallen soldiers…those who gave their very lives in service to this country. To honor these brave men and women, Americans take a day off from work, make it a long weekend and spend the day getting drunk out of their heads around the grill or at the beach. My friends, my brothers and sisters in arms…they died so we, as Americans, could have the right to IGNORE their sacrifices. Today I spent the day in Thomasville, NC. “Where is Thomasville?” you might ask? I’ll tell you. Thomasville is a tiny little Podunk town in North Carolina…a town a little bit smaller than my living room. They are also the ONLY town in ALL of North Carolina who organized Memorial Day activities. Oh, sure…all over the country there were little services and such, but in North Carolina, only ONE TOWN had a parade, or a COMMUNITY organized Memorial Service that the TOWN paid for. I guess everyone in Raleigh, Greensboro or Charlotte was too busy getting drunk at the beach. There is apparently a MySpace group called “Fuck The Troops”… I won’t bore you with their uninformed diatribes. I will, instead, say only this… I will lay down my life to defend their right to defame the memories of the soldiers who have fallen. Do I agree with them? Of course I don’t. Do I think they’re all a bunch of ungrateful morons? You better believe I do. But I believe in this country, and despite the failings of our President and his staff, I believe in the ideals this nation was founded upon, even if, every day, we are assaulted by the words, sounds and images of those who would exploit those rights and privileges for their own selfish ends. I’ll be honest with you…some nights I lie awake and wish that my name could be listed among the fallen. That way, I would have been remembered well…and not returned home a broken shell…unable to let people get close to me again…fucking up every relationship I had…driving people who I love, and who once loved me, to abandon me out of fear, or a desire to protect themselves from the person I’ve become. But I was not destined for Valhalla, it would seem. So now I wander, lost and hurting, broken and wounded both inside and out, wondering when I’ll stop feeling like this…

Need help with fic formatting!!
Tuesday, 30 May 2006 14:51:54

Hi - Any html experts out there? I need to do a few formatting things with my fic, and I've tried playing around with html and bad things happen! The things I want to do are: Have indented, single spaced paragraphs, like for quoted verse (as in poetry verse, not uni-verse :p) Right justified paragraphs. Tables. I've tried putting in tables, but it changes the font of the text in the table into something big and annoying, ahh! I really want a tabbed environment, and I thought a table could do it. Someone in the pet peeve thread mentioned there's a mouse-over tag that could be used to show the definition of chinese characters?? I'd love to be able to do this! Please please help! Thanks!

Pneumonnia is my friend
Tuesday, 30 May 2006 18:27:45

Or it wants to be, considering the fact that I have Bronchitis and or Walking Pneumonia at least 3 times a year. I have been coughing now for about the last 3 weeks, getting no better - in fact worsening. I have had to leave my second job or call in no less than 4 times in that time period. I am about over it. I am going to the DR today to get some antibiotics. Yes, I know I should have gone sooner, but I really don't want to have to incur yet another bill I can not pay. I am now told that my court date is set for Aug 4. So now one cares that the kids are barely hanging by a thread. Well no one that can do anything about it. I saw court doccuments lately in which HIMSELF has stated that he can not pay alimony or spousal support because he has to pay back a $5000 loan for an engagement ring for the bigamist spouse as well as pay her back $5700 for the attorney to annul their marriage. OK everyone pity party for HIMSELF....1....2.....3........sorry, just can't bring myself to care.

Headaches
Tuesday, 30 May 2006 23:48:05

Got two major headaches at the moment. The first, and most anoying since it makes thinking hard, is a real full blown physical type headache. The other is more of a problem type headache. Seems my brothers LARP character got killed of and he refuses to attend the LARP this weekend, even worse hes taking the car to see our parents instead, which means I cannot attend the last LARP this group is holding. Even worse two of my friends who were going with is are also stranded here and ill have to explain the status for them and the gamemasters who are going to throw a fit since ive already promised them that were comeing. Oh well. Played some Post Apocalyptic RPG today, bit hard to concentrate with the headache though. Going to bed now, dont think I have enough stamina to watch any Angel today :disappointed:

Angel all over.
Wednesday, 31 May 2006 04:17:41

Dont usually write more then one blog entry a day, but this is an auspicious day. Just watched the first episode of Surface and man did it creep me out, got this whole deep water-phobia thing going for me so it hit the mark. Dont usually freak out when watching films anymore. More importantlyn I saw the last three episodes of Angel, and they rocked! Have to say I would have liked to know a thing or two about certain events but still, some great episodes. Loved Adam Baldwin in his Wolfram and Hearth lawyer character. And ofcourse the action parts kicked hard and the sad parts bit deep, just like intended. Well, now that im done with both Angel and Buffy ill see what ill watch next. Surface seems interesting, but I know it got cancelled. Heard some nice talk about Hex to, but alas, yet again. Cancelled. Then I could always watch Twin Peaks or Wonderfalls all over again... So many great shows, so many posibilitys. Well, goint to stop this mad rant now, so.. See you all around the Verse!!

BloodRayne The Movie
Wednesday, 31 May 2006 06:59:27

Just watched Bloodrayne, it sucked. The lead was ok, but I don't think Michael Madson gave a crap. I don't think I can call what he did acting. I know the video game is incredibly bloody, but was all that really necessary? And I don't think I've ever seen such dull swords! They were rounded for God's sake!!! I had higher hopes for this. And I just saw a video game ad for...The DaVinci Code!!?? WTF?

ok the blog section my profile was gettin' lonely and i'm bored. you know what's not fun? history. i mean i don't *really* care about germany's economy in the 1920s. though i only have these 2 history exams left! then i am FREE! (for 4 days. then i have to go back to school until the summer holidays =( ) maybe i should try saying somethin' interesting so people will comment... you noticed how having comments gives you that nice feelin' in the pit of your stomach? kinda like when a complete stranger compliments you about somethin' your self concious about. in fact *exactly* like that as that's pretty much all it is. ok, ok... somethin' interesting... between july 1914 and november 1923 the value of the german mark rose from 4.3 marks to the $ to 200,000,000,000!! right, i'm goin' to go find someone else to bore. au revoir! A Good Raspy morning to all
Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:00:49

I went to my GP yesterday. He was quite happy to tell me that I needed to get rid of the stress in my life and that I needed a vacation. He, however, did not agree to pay my living expenses whilst I jaunted down to the islands. Dag Nabbit! He did however, give me a lovely shot in me backside (why is it that all the crap that goes in the backside must be made of peanut butter! OUCH) and a precription for ZPac. Interestingly enough the pneumonia has cleared, but I am told I now suffer from Bronchitis and Laryngitis. If anyone can think of another itis I could suffer, let me know cause I am on a roll. That is all I know, that and the fact that in Mobile, AL at 9 am EST it was already a frickin 90 degrees. To you in the UK that is 32.22222222222222.

I think Ryan Adams is a browncoat.

Upon learning Chinese
Wednesday, 31 May 2006 22:07:22

I borrowed The Joy Luck Club from my local library. Having read the book, I greatly enjoyed the movie. However, I did find myself correcting some of the Chinese translations used throughout the movie. I am hoping that due to the language their are many various translations and that some are used for various purposes, but none the less I found it quite amusing that I would "correct" the subtitles. The gorram movement has seriously gone to my head...and I love it.
