Oooh. Vacation. Oooh. Leaving Monday!! I've been planning this for months, and am getting way excited, since I'm now officially off work. Woot! I'll be spending 7 days in Frankfurt staying with friends. Checking out the museums, day tripping to the country, visit to Hamburg maybe. And of course, watching the last soccer games. Not in a stadium, mind you, just with all the other regular joes, in the beer gardens and those type places. Stephen has a computer, so I'm going to try and post in my blog of what transpires, so's I can feel somewhat connected to the folks I have been practically living with online for the past several weeks. FollowMal! MalNourished! Asarian! Agatsu! I will miss you! This is my attempt at a solution to circumvent the discomfort of complete and total withdrawal, which could really really hurt. And you know how much of a pansy I am. Please tell JefFlair I typeset into book format The Losing Side and have forced myself to NOT READ IT, until I get on the plane. I am soooooo looking forward to it. Best, Hera

I'll be traveling to Houston tommorrow and staying in N. Houston area where we have an Ahmadiyya Mosque... Hope I can hook up with some Browncoats there-abouts. I'll be staying at the mosque and helping out around the property, checking the area out. Will be staying til the end of July. I checked out www.HoustonBrowncoats.com and noted they have a meeting once a month at Star Pizza, but I have no idea if that's near where I'll be or not. All I know is the mosque is near a Greyhound bus station on Homestead, and our mosque two freeway exits away from the GWB Intercontinental airport. E-mail me at: maghaffar@wayoftheseekers.com if any of this is nearby to any Houston BCs... Stay Shiny Y'all. --Jonathan M.A.Ghaffar

A friend just invited me "aboard" Firefly. How can it be that I and most of my friends never knew this existed? I was "distracted" in 2002, but not that much. Was it aired at 3AM? Since the series aired I have been to Iraq and would have loved to spend some nights in my hooch watching Firefly while discerning the mortar blasts outside from the action on screen. Since I purchased the series DVDs and the movie I can't stop cursing Fox TV nor praising Universal. The electrons carrying my emails to Fox (the curses) and Universal (the praises) are on the way. My gratitude to Joss and the entire Firefly/Serenity team for excellence.

My memory is a bit hazy...but I remember looking through a cookbook awhile back and coming upon a recipe "Serenity Cheesecake". Strange eh? Even stranger are the ingredients. One cup of creativity. Add a sprinkle of good acting. Deep fry in excellent dialouge. Add and stir with soul. Cook until perfection. - Aha! Creative writing strikes again! (a trumpet sounds in the distance)

As a child I had a series of goldfish, most of which lived for about a week. I have no idea why they died because I fed them and cleaned them out exactly as it said in the books. My older sister had fish too and hers always lived for years. She has one fish called Rosie, which has lived for in excess of 7 years and because it was getting so huge she bought big aquarium tank and stocked it with weird and wonderful fish. It had all the filters and stuff and she loved those fish. 3 weeks ago there was a fish related crisis (due to the extreme heat one of the filters exploded and made the tank toxic.) The fish were rescued and split up into smaller tanks which are scattered around the house. Of the 7 fish in my room, one commited suicide earlier this week and I just found Rosie floating at the top of the tank. Less than three weeks and I've managed to kill the longest lived fish I've ever known. When she gets home from work she's going to kill me. :crap:

Well, actually the show and the movie did that but I did buy it for her on Serenity Day. I couldn't get a hold of my mom this whole weekend and when I finally did she had just finished the BDM and she LOVED it! She said that she watched all the episodes back to back and didn't want to call me cause she wanted to get to the movie. As I was talking to her on the phone she was watching the ending over and over again. She was bummed though when she realized that there were no more to watch but shes completely content with playing the episodes over and over. It is a proud day for me! :biggrin:She even wants to get other people to watch it but she doesnt want to lend out her copy in which I suggested that she buy a loaner set. I told her that since she saw it and loves it she's going to come with me to any Firefly shindig that we can go to. I'm sure she'd definitely go if I told her that Nathan Fillion was going to be there, she says "He's sooo FINE..." Damn skippy!

family tradition is the 28 days before your birthday you either pick a bad habit to get rid of or pick a good habit to develop. So I keep trying to come up with something and the best I've done so far is remembering to wear sunblock all the time:) Any suggestions? ( make it quick 'cause my birthday's the 28th)I've pretty much given up the bad for me stuff ( except for my compulsion to buy lovely new supplies and books for my classroom...sorry just got a new catalog)

Thank you all for the virtual Browncoat and tips. Great to know that smart folks are still alive and well and honoring the BDS and BDM. Old motorcyclists like me (I'm 58!) have a saying, "keep the shiny side up." So we'll stay Shiny... huh? I will be headed back to Iraq soon so my blogs and responses may be sporadic. But I'll be checking in when I can. Yes, Doc really was a dentist rather than MD but it is his sense of honor (though sometimes obscure) and his friendship for Wyatt that drew me to his personality. He would have understood Mal (and REALLY understood Jane). A better view of Doc was written by his distant relative, Karen Holliday Tanner - "Doc Holliday, a Family Portrait. Not so bad as history made him. You all take care... and believe in freedom from the oppression of tyrants.

Wo de tien ah. Been proofreading some essays for Ottawa U. students. Looks like Business Admin students, which it seems are even worse than engineering students. These are the "Executive Summary, Summary, Summary of the Summary, Introduction, 3-pages-of-actual-material, Conclusion, Review, Another-Summary-Just-For-The-Hell-Of-It" people. Bureaucrats in training. I fear for the future. In the hopes of making life easier for anyone who has to read these. . . things, I'm gonna rant. THINGS THAT SHOULD NOT BE IN FORMAL REPORTS Terms such as "a lot," "and so on," "you," "go with" (in the context of making a choice), "very," "great" (in the context of "good"), and "make" (in the context of manufacturing). Sentences that start with "And," "Or," or "But." Made-up words. Slang. Words and phrases lifted from textbooks/course lectures and plugged into paragraphs with no understanding as to meaning or context (or even verb tense). Stream-of-consciousness sentences. 37-word sentences that can be summed up in three words. Slogans and catch-phrases. Especially non-grammatical ones. Multiple sentences that say the exact same thing one after another. The same sentence copy-and-pasted three+ times. Quotes that have nothing to do with the topic. Quotes that definitively disprove the argument. Anything that unwittingly insults the person the report is addressed to. Anything translated via Babelfish. THINGS THAT SHOULD BE IN FORMAL REPORTS Definite and indefinite articles. Understanding of proper nouns and common nouns. Sentences with a subject, verb, and object. Sentences that were planned before being written so that they make logical sense. Punctuation. Consistent spelling. Consistent capitalization. References showing who is being quoted. I never realized how complicated the English language is until I started trying to decode the mess that some people make out of it. I've been spoiled as an English major. I appreciate that a lot of these are English-as-a-Second-Language cases, but is it really too much to ask that they get some linguistic training before being assigned multi-page business reports? The whole point is to get them to convey information effectively.

So Sunday was a fun day. Got a sore bum. LOL. Went horse riding and breakfast on Sunday. my second time riding Got to trott and the horse cantered up the hill a little it was fun. Anyway, my friend brought one of my baby budgies last year and he has a problem. I have to fix it. (I sort of tamed him enough but his got stupid and went backwards) His name is BOO, his nick name is BOOT CAMP BOO. I gave her my Cassie who I call CAS CAS until I can fix Boo. (She to is a budgie but much younger, I bred her this year in April) So she's gone on holidays and Boo's gone to Boot camp. LOL. 2 hours on a horse is... well... fun. Then we went house hunting, for acerage. Then I had three dogs charge me for hugs when we got home. one of which is my sisters, two are our little elkies.

Blah. Well, writing for chapter fifteen has not been going as speedily as I’d hoped. :crap: I think I’ve finally figured out why, though, so progress should be right around the corner. I have my book of notes and my caffine handy and am hoping to write the majority of the chapter tonight. Hopefully, it will be up within the week. Sorry to leave you hangin’! Katie

So my big damn muse is on extended hiatus. It is a very odd feeling. I don't like whinging, but I feel so empty when there are no ideas flitting in my head. It's been more than three days. I haven't written a word. And I even watched about four episodes today. But I'm all dried out. Will someone out there please turn on the hose? Flush the pipes, get the flow goin again? Please? Anyone? Someone? Ok, so there's no one out there. "Everybody dies alone."

Well, it's done. I finally finished posting my Mal/Simon fic "Family". I'm kind of sad, but all good things must end--so they say. I have written other stories in this 'verse, but am only posting them on livejournal.com. Some of them aren't exactly appropriate for a site that I know is visited by younger teens. If, however, any of my faithful readers would like to take a look, links to those stories, plus more, can be found in my journal:

Still here, still writing. There seems to be a worry that I will stop. Fear not. If you review it, I'll keep inflicting it. Anyone want to meet Jayne's kinfolk? Dunno if it's going to be a short one-shot, or a chapterthon again. Depends if I can think up some more excruciating puns or geeky lit-wank for titles. And I'm looking for some inspirational music. I'm not allowed to drink coffee at work - it affects my interpersonal skills - and my musical tastes upset my co-workers. So I'm really bored about now - no caffeine, no Nick Cave or Stranglers. I shall just bogart the broadband some more.

I was babysitting for my "bestest friend"/little sister (without being related to me) today. She got bored and wanted to watch a movie, but she specifically wanted to watch one from my house. Of all of the kids' movies & Harry Potter (she loves Harry) we own, she picked Serenity, and actually sat through it. Twice. Her favorite character is River, but she wishes she were Kaylee, because "Simon makes her want to faint, he's so-o-oooo cute." Then we had to play "Let's Rescue River From The Alliance And Make It Back To Serenity In Time For Supper Or Else Mal Will Be Mad" for an hour and a half. She wants to watch it again tomorrow, but I think I'll bring Firefly instead.

Well I haven't been by recently to write anything. Just kinda poking around reading other people's stuff. I watched Serenity the other day and still am in love completely. Things at work have been very stressful and I just wanted to take some time to drop all my fellow browncoats a note. Hope everyone is Shiny!

Took our time today getting started, since Stephen was still unhappy about the outcome of the match (and the amount of beer he drank drowning said sorrows). Britta and I walked to the bäckerei (bakery) while S made coffee -- we got back and the coffee was still hot! I'm liking this whole walking distance thing. My personal mission is to eat something unfamiliar from the bakery every morning. Today's mystery meal was a large, flat biscuit-looking thing about 6 inches in diameter, topped with a red, sourish fruit and sugary, crumby bits. For breakfast, S served me the saltiest bacon I'd ever eaten with my egg. It made me light-headed. S says Germans could not survive without mustard or salt. I believe him. Oh gosh, how I believe him. We headed out eventually towards the inner city, following the shore of the river Main on the pedestrian/bike pathway. It was so hot, as hot as it is in Texas, and there is no air conditioning. Anywhere. And I came all this way to escape the Texas heat? Seems it's not working. S & B on the Eisen bridge:

Looks like the evil whatsis from last month ate my screening review and my piccy. *sigh* I'll try putting back up the piccy in the BSR, but otherwise... New stuff. Let's see, I went swimming in Lake Michigan on Monday, had fun but am now a crispy critter. I shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't been wearing SPF-50 sunscreen. I'm currently, other than my real job, looking in on a cat and bunny for a friend. The cat's mewing piteously 'cause I'm not mommy :crap: and the bunny comes upstairs looking for me 'cause she wants to play. I'm now heading towards my yearly 'Pennsic crunch,' trying to get all my gos se together to go camping with 12,000+ other nuts next month. The good is a nice relaxing couple of weeks (compared with being home and going to work) inspite of putting up/taking down camp and helping sell stuff. The bad is I won't be able to come here and play for that time (and I'm limited in my time now to get ready) since, hey, camping...no electricity in camp. On a FF relayed note, someone finally noticed my new antenna decoration (I painted a styrofoam ball with the Serenity symbol)....yea!!! The bad of that was, it was the hwoon dahn who was lighting fireworks right next to a parked SUV, which was parked within 10 feet of the building. GAH! Already had an apartment fire this year, don't want another gorrammit! Oh, I'm gonna try to remember to take & post a piccy of the ball. I didn't write the English on it a I was having a hard enough time doing the Chinese free-hand on the little sucker. I think that's it for now. Thrilling, eh?

Sorry to any one who went to my Firefly fan site. Sadly I never got it going nearly how I planned due to not haveing the time. Well at first didn't have the time being too busy, but then I ended up just forgetting. I could get back to it and make it the site I originally planned for it to be, but I won't. I originally made it due to the very high traffic this site had at that time. Well I'm not sure how this site is now, I haven't been here for a while... Anyways I'm sorry.
Thursday, 06 July 2006 13:55:33
Well, this is the proverbial it. :crap: Tomorrow is my last day of college - period. If you've run into me on the site before (particularly in the chat), you'll most likely know that my net access is courtesy of my college. This means that I'll be off the net for a while. I may get the chance to pop in now and then, but it's not that likely, I'm afraid. I'll not be back on regularly 'til I've saved up enough to get my own PC and net access. It's been a blast, being a part of this community for the past two years. Y'all just make sure that it's still here when I eventually get back. "You hold. Hold til I'm back." ~Manti.

I have had it since Monday. All day Tuesday I was sick as a dog. I am od'ing on Prevacid, but it won't go away. It is the awful kind that makes you throw up. Yeah, TMI. Saw the lawyer yesterday. $150 of my moms bucks to tell us what we already knew. I am not having a good feeling. I want to believe that the judge ( a woman) will she the :censored: for the :censored: that he is and want to "punish" him. And then I just get the feeling that I am screwed. Went to the 2nd job last night. The idiots had only scheduled 2 people to close a 5000 sq ft store. It was a mess. They expected me to stay until past 11 pm. I GET UP at 5 am each day. Needless to say, I no longer work there. So now I need to find another crappy part time job. I need a sugar daddy. Someone please contact Nathan and tell him I am waiting!

Today I went on a day trip to Hamburg to see the sights and visit with fff.net's very own Agatsu, who hails from that very fine city. First, I just want to say that countries with public transit systems rock my world. Granted, the ticket to Hamburg was approx $113 dollars, but the trains have dining cars and clean bathrooms and they're faster than driving. And trains also have really big windows. I had to leave the apartment by 7:15 to make it to the train station. Poor Stephen was kind enough to accompany me, since getting there involved oh, timliness instead of tardiness, which I can never guarantee when I'm attempting to navigate and figure out German words and purchase bus tix. You get the idea. Since it was a bit of a rush, I treated myself to an on-train breakfast type meal. I think I had mentioned before that Germans could not survive without mustard and salt. I would now like to add butter to that list of survival items. My meal consisted of 6 large pieces of bread (I kid you not: 2 rolls, 2 slices of rye bread, one whole wheat croissant, one regular croissant), two 1x2x0.25 slabs of butter, six slices of different types of meat in various stages of preservation using the salt method, and a large slice of cheese that tasted like a cross between mozzarella and brie. It was the best damn breakfast I've had in a long time. The urge to eat did not return, my hand to god, until over 9 hours later. These folks know how to make their money go further. The other cool thing was that I sat over this breakfast for more than an hour, and no one seemed put out by my taking up of space. Very cool! Getting off the train, I puttered my way down to the older part of the city, near the city council, or Rathaus. Did the tour of that building, taking a lot of pictures since I had missed the last English speaking tour of the day, and had no clue what the tour guide was saying. She was in the stairwell:

Wow! It's all so new! I never knew Firefly had such a following :D I'm loving it already. So, as I'm falling asleep at my keyboard (5 hours sleep... not a good idea) I'll keep this short so it makes some kind of sense! For a full version of me and my life, see my profile. Today, I have mostly been... selling chocolate! Well, I can think of worse things to do for a living!

Sean Maher. I'm 99% sure it was him. So I was wandering toward my gate just before 7 a.m. and I see this guy and we make a bit of eye contact and our arms brush. I'm thinking "wow, he looks familiar" and about 10 steps later my mind catches up and I think "holy shit!". So I turn around to try and find him again, but I can't. He might have turned or something, I don't know, but I was annoyed with myself. And then I got on my cell phone and called everyone I knew. P.S. Hawaii is fabulous and I've only been here for a day. I might be saying something else when I start farming in a week, but for now, I'm loving it!

A friend of mine found a site with a poetry generator. Some of these poems sound like River speaking. Here are some examples wind winged seeds vast wide lands wide flat dusty road smooth flat memories of past soup hydrogen soup carbon her eggs become stars clawing out (creepy somehow) She hears each his lies transportation for the dead she listens for his breathing (The Message anyone?) there is emptiness the ghastly centre of her empty crossings on corners (sounds like River) tar black feather ball trapped in the constellations jets of gas aflame (sounds like a spaceship to me) blood becomes timebomb glory birds, gold and orange she is stardust, she is earth (just neat) bands of herring bones snake scales lapping snake scales elephant alone (???) black feathers if she falls there is emptiness her violin fingers solidity congealing the erosion of everything (River, self descriptive?) It was nice to wake up and then go back to sleep today, since we didn't have to make a train or any such nonsense. We took our time over breakfast (white sausages with sweet mustard, more bread, butter, coffee, tea, gah! they're going to kill me with food here). Showering wasn't a horrible ordeal since it rained the night before, and the day was overcast with a high chance of more rain. Since it was cooler, the steam from the bathroom didn't inundate the apartment with damp. Britta took the day with me to go to the Museumsuferfest, which is a three-day festival where you can tour all of the museums for the cost of 4 euros (aprox $6). You pay the 4 euros for a button, and then you try and see how many museums you can tour before you collapse from either foot fatique or from your brain being too full of educated things. A sure sign of your museum dementia, all crotchety and mean. We headed out by bike about 1pm, going towards town on the pedestrian/bike path that runs parallel to the river. Now let me just take a moment to describe the guilty pleasure of riding in a city crawling with cyclists. I wore no helmet. I had flip flops on my feet. I didn't have cycling gloves. I'd ring the wee bell, and the pedestrians would drift to the right, making way for me, the bicycle goddess. I was in heaven. There's a lot to be said for having the wind in your hair instead of sweating under a helmet. My cycling friends from Austin would say that I was a fool, but hell. When in Rome, ride like the Romans. It was a blast. Oh, and did I neglect to mention that this city is completely FLAT? I could detect no inclines going to or from the city. Is that even possible? On the road:

I have finished the Kaylee outfit for my wife (for D*C). The picture I will post in the Blue Sun room is just a shot of the jumper...I'll have to wait to get pictures of her in the full get-up. This was a fun little project! I was also lucky enough to come across a side of leather in what I think is the perfect shade of brown for a browncoat. I am still tweaking the sloper pattern I constructed, and am mostly happy with the way it hangs...in a day or so, I'll start attacking the leather version! Might even have enough leather for tow, if things work out!

Anyone read this book? its a fantasy by Christopher Paolini. Started reading it yesterday and gotta say it is rather good. Well written, nice ideas, characters you can easily understand. Also being made into a feature film. (what ISN'T these says). Overall: a nice little book :)

Early on in the movie, when Jack's crew was talking about Shiny rewards and honest payment, did anyone else think about Firefly? I know I did. I even told that to my mom and she said she did too! Hahaha...I love how persuasive I can be that even I got my mom thinking about Firefly during a Pirate movie.

So I posted the first part of my story. I had some communication problems with my beta-testers, and wasn't able to get there feedback. If anyone would like to apply, please let me know. I'm fairly proud of what I've done though. I'm not sure when I'll get the next chapter up, as this is going to be a busy week, so please bear with me.

It being Saturday, we got up and going then tidied up the house. Britta and I tag-teamed the kitchen. After we schlepped the glass bottles to the store for the cash return (the bottles were threatening to take over the floor of the kitchen). Then we picked up some milk and my mystery meal from the bakery. Today's bread-thing was a type of cheese pocket danish, only not as sweet as the U.S. variety. It was a big day, being the day of the BBQ and the debut performance of Stephen's country band, so there was a lot of extra work to do. Stephen created directional signs on his PC so that folks would be able to find the boat house, then he ran off to do band things like transporting amps and trying to find the slide for his lap steel. Britta made curry noodle salad to go with the poached fish for the BBQ (yes, the big fish that S caught two days earlier which he insists will not kill us even though it was pulled from a river flowing through a major European city). Stephen came back, then left again for the grocery. I did my daily chores, which involved the back-breaking labor of writing this log and taking a shower. Ah, vacation. I really enjoyed the party. I thought I wouldn't because of the language barrier, but it was not to be. I settled into an excellent conversation with Stefan Maurer about The Dead Kennedy's, Black Flag and the U.S./British punk scene of which we were both of the age to have been a part of. His wife Uni also spoke English, and their 2 year-old daughter Tiana was so serious, but she warmed up to me eventually and wanted to play with the soccer ball, so we kicked it around on the lawn. I couldn't understand a word she said, but she chattered along happily and didn't seem upset that I never said anything back. I was inordinately pleased when I asked Tiana's mom to translate Tiana saying 'es macht spaß', meaning 'it is much fun'. Stefan and his wife at the grill:

I am alive again! And I have watched Firefly a lot lately and decided to continue my fanfiction, "So Now I'm Learning" So, yeah, pray look around the Blue Sun Room for my stuff. I'm real happy to be back =]
Monday, 10 July 2006 03:31:45
Sorry about the all caps...just a bit excited. I got my Browncoat finished...posted a picture in the Blue Sun room. Also uploaded a pic of the wife in her Kaylee outfit...she's in the Blue Sun room, too. I have a few more pictures of the browncoat and Kaylee's outfit. If you would like to see them, PM me or let me know. I would love comments, critiques, or questions about these.

I just watched the 1939 John Ford movie STAGECOACH last night. I hadn't seen it before, but have heard it mentioned so many times, not only as a seminal Western, but as the blueprint for some many movies which followed in all genres, including Sci-Fi. What struck me, watching it as a huge FIREFLY fan, were the similarities between it and FIREFLY/SERENITY. I'm sure Joss is very familiar with STAGECOACH and that he knew exactly what he was borrowing, and I'm not trying to say, "Oh, he totally copied this movie." I'm just saying that it was fun to watch because it was like watching another version of FIREFLY. There was the goofy "pilot" (stagecoach driver), the elegant lady like Inara - who was not a companion. There was a whore in the movie, but she had a lot of Kaylee elements, very sweet and kind. There was a doc, and someone with a secret running from the law. The Apache attack at the end was so much like the Reaver chase in SERENITY, I kept waiting for John Wayne to get speared in the leg... I definitely recommend this movie for Browncoats!

Today was Sunday, and also the day of the final match in the World Cup (ITA vs FRA). S&B wanted to take me on a drive out of the city to tour a set of Roman ruins built in 80 AD. These ruins were of a settlement that indicated the farthest reach of the empire at the height of it's influence. Sounded pretty interesting to me, so we packed up and headed out of the city in a friend's car, taking the scenic route out of necessity since several of the bridges were closed because of the Museum fest and the forthcoming match festivities.

OK, bad joke with the title. It's hard to be creative quickly. This is the problem with establishing a fanfic posting schedule - it's inevitable that I can't keep up! So, just in case you're looking and not finding... I have two boring work papers to submit before the end of the day, and some after work activities to prep for, so I'm busy busy busy! Chapter 18 will be up tomorrow. Then probably just one more chapter this week. Sorry! Blast real life for interfering with my fic!!

Was jazzed to attend Shore Leave this year in Hunt Valley, Maryland, just north of Ball-more.. While there were no Firefly personalities there, the interest in the show seemed to be high, as many items were sold out. Got myself a cunning T-shirt, and into many shiny conversations. View of some vendors is that interest in the show is waning. I didn't see any evidence of that! Oh, saw, and nearly bought, a neat three CD collection of panel talks. Nathan, Jewel and Adam sitting at a table in front of a room of about 120 people. That looked like FUN! Was way shiny!

All praise be to the gods of fornicatin' monkeys! Normally, I would post this on LiveJournal, but since I pretty much stopped going there when I found this site, it will get posted here. Upon reading my daily news, I came upon this article:

I always wonder why some people like a smell and others don't. Just bought this fabulous gadget from Bath and Body Works called a wallflower meant to send lovely smells into a room. I bought this great scent Coconut Lime Verbena and my husband liked it well enough, but after it filled the room he didn't like it any more...sigh so now it's vanilla upstairs and my fav downstairs... I really loved that scent drat it!!

Just wanted to share my despair-joy moment with all of ya. Was surfing the Whedonesque site when I noticed a link talking about Mark Millar selling off some nice Buffy memorbilia. So I check it out. After following a link from the page I linked to from Whedonesque, I discovered the following:

So. The "In The Ether" plot bunny has escaped, dug under the fence, and is now cruising down the highway at top speed. I don't think he's coming back. I've tried working the next chapter quite literally 24 times (I counted, I saved each attempt at starting). Would anyone object mightily if I just prentended it didn't happen and go think of something else? Of course, some part of my brain asks: will anyone actually read this, or am I just sending bits into the void? How does this blog thing work, anyway? And since no one can comment here, what exactly am I hoping for by way of a response? What is the air speed of an unladen swallow?

my firefly muse has left me. i have cried endless tears for it. i cannot write. i also have been unispired to create graphics. its gone. i have begged, cajoled, pleaded, grovelled, enticed and all that. there is no return that i can forsee. perhaps later. after i watch the episodes again after not having done so for a period of time. alas. i have a whole page of things i could and should write about. many good phrases to base a fic around. many instances. but i cannot. i am all dried up. it happens to me frequently, but never before for this long. im all empty inside. it is as if my purpose has worn thin and im just biding my measly time here. in the absence of writing firefly, i have been reading 'finding serenity' and 'the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy'. i have written a couple of pirates of the caribbean: dead man's chest short fics. i have thoroughly cleaned my room. i have purchased myriad firefly related items on ebay. i continue to come here daily to check out everyones shiny work. i enjoy seeing the pics and drawings and reading the creativity (and not-so-much-creativity). so, crazy fools and fellow fans, i resign this post with a teary heavyness of heart. i have dissapointed my clingers-on. i have failed in my goal of posting a fic on a semi-daily basis. for this i am sorry.

I just bought the series from Itunes and was wondering if anyone else bought it.

There's a little problem with our fic posting. We may experience slight delays, and then a whole raft of chapters at once. It's taking me a while to get the whole thing written, because although I have the whole thing drafted, it's mutated at a frightening rate, and will be more than the few small character chapters I was thinking on. Also, I actually have to go to work, and the Real World (hah!) does not understand the importance of the 'Verse. If there is not a chapter by then end of the week, there will be two or even three at the weekend.

Today was the day I planned to go to the Städtel (City) Museum, it seeming a good day for this since both Stephen and Britta had class, S at 1pm and B at 6pm. Britta insisted she would enjoy going to the museum with me, so my offer of her taking the day off from baby-sitting her Texan couch-sleeper was politely side stepped. We ran an errand first, drove over to the boat house to reclaim the guitars and the lap steel, as we had learned that there was a large wedding party planned for later in the day, and Britta and I didn't want anyone walking off with Stephen's pride and joy. Back at the apartment, we hopped on the bikes and headed to town. The weather was much better for me today, since it wasn't so humid and there was a good breeze. Britta insisted it was still too hot in the sun, which I found humorous. Being a Texan, I never stand in the sun at home, not by choice at least. I suppose only Europeans have the pleasure of sunlight in the summer that doesn't debilitate. Arriving at the museum, we were delivered of the bad news that all museums are closed on Mondays. Debating what to do with our now very long afternoon, we got back on the bikes and went exploring up river, following the pedestrian/bike path that continued in that direction. We stopped to take photos on the famous ICH (I) statue, where you get to stand on the pedestal, or put things on the pedestal, as you see fit, and take pictures. We clowned around and did silly things, which was fun for me, as I like photography. B and me as I.

Had to cut this in half, since it was so long. Stephen was suffering at this point from the "this is your last night in Germany, so we have to do something special" disease, so we got on the subway to visit the neighborhood in Frankfurt where he grew up, Bornheim. We walked around a bit, then settled at a sidewalk pub called Totties so I could try a couple of different beers. So far on the trip I'd mainly drank apfelwein when we were out, and Binding beer at home or the boat house, so I settled in for some serious sampling. The pilsner was good, since I like hoppy beers, but the wheat beer I tried was too malty, but of course I drank it anyway. Britta met up with us at this point, so we entertained ourselves thinking up all the phrases and bon motts we'd come up with over the course of the week, and I wrote them on the back of a postcard, promising to send them to them via email once I got back home. We moved on to find another bar that would serve Jever, which S insisted was the hoppiest beer in Germany. We asked around a couple of places as we walked, but it was looking grim. Bornheim reminded me of Austin, as there were tons of young trendy people walking around, going into fancy looking bars full of more young trendy people. Stephen said that Bornheim was a more exciting place to live, and I observed that it was probably more expensive, and he agreed. Niederrad seemed to have more immigrant families and older folks living in it, which I kind of preferred, but I didn't tell Stephen that. I was just visiting, how would I know what it was really like to live there? We stopped at a bar that I swear looked like an Irish pub, but it turned out to be a jazz club. We sat on wooden benches outside, and S proudly brought out two Jevers, so I got to taste it after all. It was really good, good and sharp. And as is typical in Germany, I made my way through this dingy, smoky, crowded wee bar to the bathroom in the back, which I swear you could have eaten off the floor it was so clean. The ladies was built into a corner with a tiny door, and every square inch of the interior was covered in gleaming tile. Sigh. I love this country. Stephen had just hit his stride and could have kept us out all night, but B was yawning, so I kept things moving in the homewardly direction. We took a cab for some reason that was not explained to me, and our driver was from Cologne, with an accent so marked even I could hear it. Think of Spanish as it is spoken in Spain, then listen to Portuguese. That's what his accent sounded like, German with a softer, more muffled schwa thing happening. B and S had a blast talking to him, as he was giving them history lessons. Finally home, S and B told me to close my eyes, and when I opened them, sitting on the chair in front of me was my very own custom-made Bembel, and two gariptes (sp?). A bembel is the ceramic pitcher that apfelwein is served from, and gariptes are the glasses with the cross-hatch pattern cut into them that apfelwein is drunk from. On the bembel was the phrase "Herzliche Grüße aus Frankfurt am Main" (Sincere Greetings from Frankfurt) and a wee line drawing of Speckie, Britta's cat-head pillow. Seems there's a place in town where you can have custom stuff glazed into the pottery. I was so pleased! What a sweet thing to do. Of course I immediately started worrying about how I was going to get these fragile things home, especially since S insisted that I take a bottle of apfelwein home with me too. So, we scrambled around for a while with newspaper and rolling things up in tshirts. Once happy that they were somewhat protected, we said our goodnights rather sadly, and S set the alarm for 7 (ouch!), since S & B had offered to take me by train to the airport to make sure I would make my flight OK. Sigh. Leaving tomorrow. How did the time go so fast!? -Hera

I just did work experience at the Countess of Chester Hospital in the NW of England, Let me know if any of yous ways there, i might have seen you! It was so amazing! I got to go on all these wards, and look at x-rays and watch an echocardiogram, and I even got to go on the ward rounds with the doctors! when I was on the cardiology ward, it was so cool, and helpful too, since I want to be a doctor! Everyone was so nice to me too  The only thing that sucked a bit was the MRSA thing, but they're really big on health and safety, so it was ok. On one ward, I went with a nurse into one of the barrier nursing rooms, and she gave me latex gloves to put on. I spent the whole time trying to get them on right, and when I had finally finished, she said: Its ok, you can take them off now. I was like: what??

I read a book today. It was a vastly interesting non-fiction. And that is something I rarely find and even more rarely look for. But this was different. It is a collection of essays about our favorie 'verse. The writers of these essays are all quite respectable and accomplished. I will not hesitate to say that some of these essays irked me to no end. I had to wonder if some of the writers were really fans at all. Perhaps they weren't. Some of these essays peeved me to no end. Some had rather blantant errors. One claimed that River shot three men in the episode 'Ariel'. Another called Wash, Jerry Lee 'Wash' Warren, for no apparent reason. Many of the essays amused me to no end. I laughed aloud many a time, eliciting odd glances from my coworker. All of the essays challenged me to think harder about Joss creation. Allowed me a clearer view of things. I feel that every Browncoat should get their hands on a copy of this book to free their minds. It is a thrilling experience. The book is 'Finding Serenity' and is edited by Jane Espenson (you might recall her name, she wrote 'Shindig')

honestly, its getting to where it's almost not worth it to convert new 'coats, simply 'cause then you have to go through the same 'proccess'- y'know, watch the series through, poke around on the dvd for a few hours trying to find the hidden episodes after OiS, because you're *sure* they're there, because, c'mon, why wouldn't they be? anyway, where this is all comming from is i converted my paretns recently- when i first got into ff they treated it like any other interest/obsession of mine, but then i dragged them along to serenity a cuple times (my dad when it was in theaters, and both to a charity screening), and they wanted to watch the series. so i watch it w/ them, and now bam, my mom's knitting herself a jayne hat and my dad's commisioned a 'leaf-on-wind' shirt. and horribly, i have to watch them go through the same proccess we all did- my dad expresses, many times a day, how he just doesnt understand how it wasnt an immediate hit, my mom's taken to saying shiny (although to be fare, she did that a little already just because i use it so much), and they've both asked me who they should write to to get it back. it's great to get new 'coats, thus increasing the chances of getting it back, but its so painful!

Hey all I know I've been away for a long time. My weekends are usually catch up time with all my Internet stuff, so I spend a few hours reading the week's fanfics. Don't ask me when the next chapter of YCGHA will be up. I don't even know. For those wondering what I've been up to, I've been up in Wadena, the hometown of Pamela Wallin, for the last six weeks with the utilities gang with C.P. Rail. I work Mon-Thursday and work every second Friday, so I do roughly about 30 hours of overtime per two weeks. I have no internet connection, so I spend like four hours every Thursday or Friday checking my internet. And by the end of the day, I'm so sweaty and worn out after 13 hours a day that I just shower, zone out in front of tv and sleep. But this week was actually a good week for me. Because this was the last week of being in Wadena. Now, we're being transferred to Unity, which is cool because my Grandpa lives there. So it'll be nice to go there every night to check my Internet and have a home cooked meal. This'll go on for the next six weeks or so. So instead of driving two hours every Sunday, Thursday and second Friday, it'll be five. The next three weekends i'll be here in Regina, but after that I think I'll just go to Edmonton and hit up some relatives for a couch to sleep on. Anyone know if Nate Fillion will be there round that time. I know it's unlikely, but hey. I'll be frequenting comic shops, so you never know. And hopefully when I'm driving home on August 24th for the last time, I'll have double what I have in my account now so that when I go back to school on the 5th of Sept (two days after my 21st b-day, yay), work will be a luxury for me. At least until I graduate and have to enter the real world *shudder* I gotta go. PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION is finally here in Regina and starts in ten min. Please comment.

Sorry about that "test". I'm not too sure how to work this thing. I'm new to this site, well sort of, I've been lurking around for a little while now and decided I just had to join in the fun. Browncoats really are the best!!

Some of you may recall a while back of me talking about one of my online friends starting to get into the series without even seeing an episode. Well, that changed today. She watched the marathon on Sci-Fi with her sister(who is already a fan) and loves it now. HA! I must have one of the most unique conversions ever!

One thing I don't think I mentioned yet is how long the summer days are in Germany. The light fades around 9:30-10pm, and the birds wake you up at dawn, which is around 4:30-5am. And Germans start working around 6am, so the fellows dropping large metal objects across the street had a good head start by the time I gave in and got up. I packed and showered up. S made coffee. We drank it being all bummed out. B joined us, and we ate some toast. I surrendered the house keys, and hid a 50 euro note on the shelf where they keep stuff by the hall. I know if I tried to give it to them, they wouldn't take it. They spent so much money on me, it was unreal! Hopefully the cash will come in handy when they find it. Goodbyes to Speckie.

(with the exception of Kaylee, but other than watching bits and pieces of episodes so I don't lose the characters' voices for my fics, I haven't watched Firefly much since my Buffy discovery in April.) I'm in a terrible mood right now, and I decided to go watch Angel by way of therapy. I'm watching early seasons since we only have one and two on DVD, but I am totally miserable about the fact that on both Angel and Buffy, Joss has killed my favorites. Yes, Illyria was an excellent & utterly fascinating character, but I loved Fred. She's my very most favorite in all of Angel and she even ranks slightly higher than Tara. So of course, he has to kill her in this brilliantly tragic plotline that makes me cry just thinking of it. (seriously, my brother made me a shirt which reads 'You just can't argue with FRED logic!' and has a few of his favorite Fred quotes on it, and I teared up because he included "please, Wesley, why can't I stay?" and "Would you have loved me?") WHY?! Why not kill someone useless who I didn't love as a character, hmm? :fork:
Saturday, 15 July 2006 15:10:55
i'm going top mention something I've been thinking of, nothing complete, just ideas. I've been thinking about the deaths of both Book and Wash. And I've been thinking that Wash's dying was more....i can't think of an applicable word. I don't want to say more important, because that's not true, so i don't know. my point is, wash died suddenly, and was still living on this ship, he was also the pilot, the man who kept Serenity flying. Book on the other hand had moved off the ship and was living in Haven, he had time to speak to mal for a bit before we lost him. He was the subtle guidance for the crew, the conscience. ( i can't spell)

This is my good-bye to Firefly and Serenity. i love this show so much. it is the greatest show i have ever seen, but its time. the reason for this is that i can not watch the series or movie anymore with out getting "PISSED OFF" that there not going to be anymore stories told!! So thats all (I know no one is going to read this but to hell with it!!) "Everyone dies alone"

I'm off to counsel at a summer camp for the next week. I'm very sad to be leaving you all, but just as soon as I return I'll catch up on all the BSR stuff. Perhaps I'll even have more to post. In the meantime, stay shiny and keep flyin'.

Shee-niou high-tech Alliance crap! That's about what I'm dealing with right now: don't know if it's the computer or the Internet connection, but the gorram thing will not let me access a number of web sites. Most notably Myspace, LiveJournal, and IMDb, to name a few, which are sites that I frequent every day. Every time I click, it just sits there for a minute or so and then gives me "The operation timed out when attempting to contact such-and-such-a-site." This happened once before - turned out to be caused by a problem with my CD-ROM drive, which I fixed. But all drives are working fine now, so the reason for this eludes me. Surely it's only a happy coincidence that Verizon just finished installing service in my building. :finger: But since FFF is one of only a handful of sites that I'm still able to access, I wonder if someone could please clue me what in ta ma de gui is going on here before I lose this site as well.

[Obvious spoilers for Flesh and Blood and No Man's Land] Well, SG-1 wasn't quite on last season, but I really liked this one. Great end to the last cliffie and great new one, even though it didn't technically say "TBC." Maybe I'm more psyched for this season because, well, RDA's coming back for a couple of eppies (most notably the 200th. major squee!) and also because Morena is starring as Vala's evil Orisci (sp?) daughter. Again with the major!squee. I'd say 8.5/10, just because I still don't think we can with against the Orii and that's bugging me. No Man's Land was superb...Great cliffie again and some great Ronon/Rodney and John/Michael (!) interactions. Michael's an allie now? Hmmm...that could lead to all sorts of unpleasantness. What's weird is that I actually trust him. Is that a commentary on me? I loved, loved, loved Liz in this ep, especially her whole talk with Landry where she admitted to messing up. Her and Rodney should have a talk when they get back about screwing things up big time. I mean, seriously, he not only blew up 3/4 (oh, sorry, 5/6) of a solar system, but he's partially responsible for the Wraith heading for Earth. But he's one of my fave characters and I ship McWeir (figure it out...lol) and David Hewlett has some amazing lines/delivery. "I'd rather die as a hero than as a meal." Love! 9/10. (Not as good as some of last season's but a great start to this one.) Oh, and my Dr. Who obsession has grown. Any Christopher Eccleston (9th doc) fans out there? Cheers, ~FS :smokin:

Heh...I've been on a Mythbusters bender as of late, hence the title... Anyway, now that my From Under The Cork Tree series is close to done, of COURSE writer's block has to strike with the two songs that give me the most trouble. And those would be 'Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner' and 'Sugar, We're Goin' Down'. My muses don't want to cooperate. And I want to get them done before I go back to school next month and go ahead and get started on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out and the Kenotia demo. I need to figure out how to kick them into overdrive.

The story begins on the morning of Saturday the 8th of July 2006. I wake early to finish the latest update to www.stillflying.net and upload it. None of which quite goes to plan. The update takes much longer than planned, with more needing to be done than I thought and those updates taking longer and being harder to implement than expected. But finally it is done and the site is ready for upload, ten minutes before I have to leave the house in order to drive to Portsmouth harbour to catch my ferry to the Isle of Wight. I upload it to the testing server and it works perfectly. ‘Great’, I think before deleting the old sites files and uploading the new ones. I navigate to the URL to expecting to see the website in all its glory, only all I see is a loooong list of php error messages. Five minutes until I have to leave. I go through the error messages and it’s apparent that the site can’t find any of it’s include files, despite the fact it’s looking in the right place and they are all there. I search I look I scream I shout I beg I plead and then I change the single variable that reads “/sandbox/” to “/” and re-upload and everything suddenly works fine. I send those last emails, shutdown the computer, finish throwing my cloths in a bag (missing some that I end up needing) and throw everything in the car. Off on the road again to Portsmouth through sun, traffic and jam. I arrive, just in time, just over half an hour before the sailing, so naturally I had a 45 minute wait before I could even board the ferry. The bonus is that I managed to be the first off the ferry, and despite my GPS telling me to turn left when it meant right I arrived at the caravan park which was to be my home for the next week. I unpack, attend the group meeting and then go for a beer at the bizarre little ‘Family Fun Club’ which has some sort of Cabaret one man Karaoke act being performed by the campest man never to have appeared in a Carry On Film. So the first day comes to an end with a late night of beer, TV and badly cooked sausage casserole, how better to start a week of intensive Kung Fu training? I’m here for a weeks Kung Fu training for the style I am a student of, Nam Yang Tiger Crane combination Kung Fu. Nam Yang originated in the Fukkien province of China, and is a combination (as the name suggests) of the Tiger and White Crane styles of Kung Fu. The Tiger style is a very strong style, and is where the twisting punch that is a hallmark of Shaolin marshal arts comes from. The Tiger is beatable though by the Monkey, Monkey style Kung Fu uses weaker attacks but combines them with fast approaches and retreats that prevent the Tiger from attacking, in this way the Monkey can defeat the Tiger by constant attacks without receiving a hit. Which is where the White Crane comes in, the Crane sticks to it’s opponent, thus when the Monkey attacks the Crane stays with it while the Monkey tries to retreat, and waits for the opportunity to strike. In Tiger Crane combination the ability of the White Crane to stay with an opponent and the strength of the Tiger are combined to produce a strong style that can stay with and attack even the Monkey. I look at the training schedule, 6 full days, Sunday to Friday each day split into 4 sessions, the first starting at 8:30am and the last finishing at 7:00pm. The only exceptions are Wednesday (1:30pm finish) and Friday (5:00pm finish followed by a demonstration), it’s going to be a tiring week. The training starts early at 8:30am on Sunday the 9th of July 2006, that is the day is supposed to start early at 8:30am. In defiance to the expected weather and the roaring Sun of Saturday the day begins cloudy, overcast and with a good sheet of rain in case no one knew that it wasn’t a very nice day. We wait an hour. It continues to rain. It’s beginning to look like the script to a bad Carry On Kung Fu film, well we do have the overtly camp guy. After a general meeting we decide to wait another hour, after which the weather clears up and we can make our way down to a field to start the

Wednesday is a half day, and also marks the beyond half point of the week, which is bad. We start in the morning with Qigong and go over some of the simple Tai Chi forms in the morning, and the later session is fitness and sparring. As with the previous day I had to go back to the nurse for dressings, where I found the old dressings had slipped (obviously nothing to do with the sparring matches…) causing the Micropore tape to stick to the burnt flesh. Thus when the old dressings were removed half my arm went with them, something that is quite painful, and something I don’t recommend to anyone else. After wincing my way away from the medical centre I decide to meet a number of other members of my club at the beach where we just generally sat around and some of us tried to learn to speak seagull. All we seemed to manage to do was spark a war between Seagulls and Ravens (seriously they even called in reinforcements). I guess this goes to prove that you shouldn’t use Kung Fu students to broker your bird peace treaties, especially between war hawks. Unfortunately I missed the evening’s entertainment because I was teaching an American student the finer points of British humour, namely the works of Monty Python. The entertainment to which I speak was at a nearby pub where some guy had taken it upon himself to tell a group of Kung Fu instructors and students that he could kill them with his finger, leading to predictably humours results as he attempted to prove it on one of the Singapore instructors, who predictably brushed him aside with ease. Thursday was another day of Kung Fu, but also the day we decided to go out for a meal after training. So the whole group went into town, and where else would a group of Kung Fu students go? That’s right we went to a Chinese restaurant. The food was great, the beer was great, if expensive (£5 a pint, ouch) and they tried to stiff us on the bill. For instance there were eleven people on one table, several of which didn’t drink and the restaurant tried to charge them for 46 bottles of Chinese beer, a quantity that would have surely lost them the use of their legs. In short if you’re ever in Sandown in the Isle of Wight and decide to eat at the Royal China restaurant, good food, good drink, read your bill very carefully. Then on to a pub so I can show off my extreme (lack of) Pool skills. I lose, naturally and that marks the end of the second to last day. So Friday, the last day of training and as such it’s quite bittersweet. The training is much the same as the other days until the afternoon, when we decide what we are to do for the demonstration later. I’m down for the Tet Bey Sum Chien (The Shuffling Three Wars) one of the fundamental routines. It’s a relatively simple routine; the only problem is that I was doing it with another person and we had to be in synch, and we only had half an hour to practice. But in the end it all comes off alright and no one notices my poor performance of the routine… There’s also the ubiquitous Lion dance which is one of my favourites, and the breaking really hard stuff with bare hands thing. One of the instructors proved you need to be thick skulled in this game by breaking a stack of roofing tiles with his head, and the youngest member of the group (and reining junior champion) broke a house brick in half with a palm strike. Of course there was also the guy getting hit with an axe, always a crowd pleaser. So that’s it, my Martial Arts week is over and I will soon be returning to work, hateful boring predictable routine work. We eat the remainder of the food, collect what’s left of the drink and begin the end of the week party, predictably filled with all the substances a pagan temple needs. It’s a good night that leaves me comatose, yet thankfully without hangover the following morning as I finish my packing and prepare to leave. With my car packed and the behaviour bond returned I leave, making the solemn journey back to Fishbourne where I shall catch another (late running) Ferry to Portsmouth and the mainland. I arrive too early

Yeah, sorry for the break in writing. I logged in about 80-some-odd hours of work between Monday and Sunday, so the first things on my mind were shower, food, and bed, and the last thing on my mind was writing. Friends Among Enemies (chapter 1) will be posted this week, and I should be getting back into the swing of things (hey, I got a season to finish and a movie to write!) Stay tuned...

Hello, thank you for the words which all of you worte!!! you guys are all great and i hope like hell that there will be more stories. Everything about the series and movie are great. The world which Joss created is a world that i think we can all see being real. this could be us in 500 years!! As Nathan said "this is us, we have the same problems....Only spread over more planets" This site is one of the best one i have ever been too. i would find myself looking at this site at least 20 times a day just to make sure that i have not missed a new post of my favourite fanfic. In my last Blog (which was my first!!) i said that i was leaving this site because i could not stand thinking of the show without any new stories. but you guys are right!!! this site is truly worth being apart of. Thanks "You hold!!!"

And more. And more. Don't know what's going on in my unconscious mind. Frankly, don't care. Some of these dreams have turned into nice fluffy plot bunnies, and....bittersweet though it is, they have caused a rift in my affections. Well, first the plot bunny. The dream I had the other night was post-BDM. Most of it was pretty vague, but I think some Independent extremists had approached Mal and Zoe wanting them to lead a renewed assault against the Alliance - basically restarting the war. Neither of them was particularly keen on the idea, but the extremists were persuasive. So eventually they kidnapped River. Bad move. This part I remember unmistakably. We all went in - me, too; guns blazing a la War Stories. Mal was freakin' pissed, but do you expect anything else? Jayne was having the time of his life, but...well, yeah. Jayne. Have to say the resistance didn't waste any time crumbling since they weren't expecting us. Eventually Mal and I split off and burst into that good ol' pitch-black, sparsely furnished room where they like to keep prisoners. And indeed, there was poor little River trussed up and lying on the nasty concrete floor waiting for us. I was miffed to say the least - however it didn't hold me from making a mad dash over, giving her a hug and cutting her loose. And thus we were out of the frying pan and into the fire; namely, Mal's final showdown with the big guy. Numerous words were exchanged about loyalty, sacrifice, misery and destruction before Mal finally had enough and blasted the guy in the gut. Got no positive answers to his question about whether anybody had a problem with that. That's all she wrote - except for one more bout of tonsil hockey between me and River............ I love those dreams.

This blog is playing catch up, So I'll be posting one entry a day till caught up. So this past Friday my guy went to watch Fascape with one of his Dr. Who buddies, Craig. I decided to stay in. When he got home he said guess what we are going to Disneyworld on Sunday. I said why? He says cause Craig offered and will get us in. I was like...what free? He nods and I go "Sweet!" Cause the only reason I don't do themepark fun is the freakish cost. $60 for one park! So we wake up and after a snafoo with the palm pilot we make our way to the Magic Kingdom. We met 3 friends there that have annual passes. Craig was an awesome superior guide as he tells us anything we want to know and many things we didn't know. He is a fan of the park but not obsessed with it. It was a glorious day. I got motion sickness from Space Moutain. Every 5 yrs or so I ride a rollar coaster to see if my innards can finally buck up and take it. Turns out they still can't. I suspect at this age they never will. But about 30 seconds from the end of the ride I wasn't liking it at all so I was glad it was over but glad I tried it. Now I know why my mother was green when she came out of it with my then 15 yr old sister when we went to Disneyland when I was 11. I remember seriosly berating her in my head for getting on it when she knew she had high blood pressure. We had to sit down for 45 minutes waiting for her to feel better and cutting in on our fun. When in reality it was probably no more than 20 mins and I should have been thankful I was even there instead of acting so spoiled. I never said what I thought, cause I knew better, but I am sure I scowled. First thing we got on was the Carosel of Progress. It's Peter's favorite. No one ever thinks they will like what seems like such a lame ride, but everyone laughs a little and does marvel at the animatronics they were capable of many years ago. "it's a great big beautiful tomorrow....." Rode some other rides and had a good time just being under 40 and not tired. The one thing I will spend some money on is food....and that I did. After about 2/3 of the day was gone our other three friends decided to get read for a con meeting. Craig told us that our guest tickets were park hoppers! So we made our way to Epcot. I had never been because of the aforementioned aversion to prices. I am just not up for paying another $60 for the priveledge to spend more money. Rode Mission Space. I did the wussy version cause I didn't know what to expect. The two guys took the full version. I enjoyed it throughly though I am glad I didn't stand in line for it. It's rather short but cool. When the guys came out they decided to try the wussy one with me again. Turns out they liked it better. The sensations were somehow better. Who knew? I'd like to add that while we were on the ride Peter grabbed the steering stick, flipped three switches, and said "Here's something you can't do." I love my Wash. Toured the pretty countries. Ate in Japan. Good food. Then we stayed for the fireworks show. It was lovely and I got my camera to try out its new settings. Got some awesome pics. Still love my camera. Just below us on the stairs down from the japanese restaurant...guess who was there vacationing with his family? Warwick Davis. We didn't want to bother him cause he deserves down time too. But it was nice to see him. On the way back on the monorail we saw the Magic Kingdom fireworks show by chance. I'm gonna send a picture CD to my folks. They'll eat this stuff up. And now...the pictures.... BTW I apologize for the size. I like my images big and putting up links in here is a skill that STILL eludes me.

Need I say more? As original characters go, I'm usually sketchy, but, reading the new season written by Lonewolf, I have accepted Gabriel Davin as my favorite character of all time, just beating out River and Captain Jack. I have also decided that the new season is canon. Gabriel is my BDH, and, if life is what it should be, he'll be in the series revival and trilogy. So, that's about it. And infinite thanks to Lonewolf for coming up with such a compelling OC who isn't just another face. (Or line of text.) -13

I saw the movie, liked it well enough and said "hey that would be an awesome series" only to be told "you idiot, it used to be a series". (In my defense I was overseas when it was on the air and by the time I got back to the states Serenity was coming out) so I decided to check out the show and the first time I heard those words "We will rule over all this land and we will call it..This land" I was hooked. It amazes me that it was cancelled and pisses me off to no end. Anyways just wanted to share...toodles

Today I was perusing some of my mom's makeup in the bathroom so I could *coughcough* test it. I looked at this one eye shadow, it was new and nice so I thought "Shiny!" as I applied it. I looked on the back and guess what color they called it? "Serenity," no joke, I got so excited! And then I moved it to my room for, ummm, safe-keeping :D Thought I would share, I just like little moments like this. The brand was Lorac for those who are curious, and it's a nice pink/gold color.

OK #2 has Marfan's and a severe case of pectus excavatum (look them up its lovely). He has to have surgery NEXT WEEK. Yesterday we spent the afternoon getting an echocardiogram. ON A 15 YR OLD BOY. I am waiting for the results and a date and time for the surgery. Got home last night from the Dr's office and checked my email. My friend Sarah had kindly taken my beautiful Golden Retreiver into her home when we went back to the UK. I didn't take him back when we got home, cause they had become attached. Any way, he died yesterday. Its funny but of all the crap that is going on, that is upsetting me the most. My mom has to have colon surgery next week. My year is looking great. The week before and after my birthday look to be just peachy and then divorce court on the 4th of August. Anyone know how I could mainline Tequilla? Or perhaps get an industrial sized tub of Valium? Thank you to those that have sent me kind thoughts. It is appreciated. I just like to whinge.

I really am hopeful that "Over the Hills..." will be finished by the end of the month (only two more weeks, ah!). Ch 16 went up yesterday, and 17 is already half-written. My original outline as twenty chapters, but I think it will end up being nineteen. It is very odd. Since May I have been on the verge of giving up since I thought I would never finish it, and now that it is almost done I am discovering all these new things within it and I don't want it to end. Go figure, huh? Peace (and go read ch 16) Katie

Bad day at Black Rock. That's what my Dad used to call days like this. Bad day at Black Rock. I miss my Dad. I'm almost 50 years old. I'm at an age when folks expect a lot from you sometimes. ( Not here, by the way.. this is paradise!) In fact in many ways who you are and how you're treated is based solely on your performance as an adult on a day to day basis. I live in the Midwest, I'm surrounded by working men and women who take very little time to be careful of what they say, or to extend a kind word. It's a harsh place sometimes living in one of the poorest places in the state. I miss my Dad because he was one of the few people in my life who accepted me the way I am. Warts and all. He didn't expect me to be proper and not forward. He didn't expect me to be girly and not geeky. He wasn't particularly fond of SciFi at all, yet he didn't hesitate to hold the antenna on our old Zenith just so because I wanted to see Kirk and Spock boldly go where no man ( or girl!) had gone before. He never discouraged me. I read Asimov, Heinlein, and Superman comic books. I wrote scifi stories ( won a prize in 4th grade! only thing I ever won besides a white pony from the Bookmobile, but that's another story. I can hear the crickets now..... wtf is a Bookmobile?) He liked me just the way I was. Didn't let me ever think that I wasn't perfectly special just the way I was. Thank you Dad. I love you and I miss you. DiDi

Well I ain't much of a story teller. And I suck... well more to the point that I don't know how to get those cool animations up and going. I guess the only thing I am good at is comming up with the ideas and letting other build on those. My ideas are vage and easy to convert, so if you are in a bind, ask And I bet I can come up with ideas on how to get you out of them. I am very good at that.

Update #2 So I was in the middle of the black dress with white edging. It has a sash that must be 40 miles long cause it took me 3 days to pin the entire thing. Well I finally finish and begin to sew it down.... when #^$&% fabric starts to move while I sew no matter if I put dozens of pins in it. So I finally figured out how to keep it in place as I sew....slowly. I make it clear down to one side of the uber long sash when I do a gentle tug on the stitching to make sure its ok at the bottom. THE WHOLE THING CAME APART. The satin just wants to fray all of the frikin place. I got a little angry and just went...fine be that way.... I'm not working on you anymore...not for the reunion. (I say that as if the fabric cared) But it made me feel better :) So it's on hold till I undo the whole damn thing, fray check the WHOLE thing, cut a length of fusible tape and iron it into the edging and THEN attempt to sew it down again. Damn sash....I'll get it for this...

Flying with only one engine here. I have the end of my fic, but I have lost the map on how to get there. And I have the entire Cobb family camping out in my head while I try and work it out. This is very bad for dealing with the Real World. Moral of this story - SpaceAnJL should not start posting until the whole thing is drafted. I shall sit in the park at lunchtime and plot. The worst case scenario is that I will have to take some of the plot from this and write another fic or two after my crossover. Would anyone be interested in any more?

I think I finally figured out how to use my photo editing program! (No discussions on how long I've had the sucker. It's too embarassing.) So, I played a bit and got something I kinda like and I'm gonna post it in the BSR. Now how to do ruttin' banners. Nothin' in the program about that. :banghead: So, that's the new. Still haven't taken a piccy of the Serenity antenna ball yet, I'm hoping to over the weekend, weather permitting. Next stop...Pennsic!

Good news - Tricare has approved the surgery, so #2 and I will be at the hospital bright and early Wednesday morning for the surgery. I have to admit I am not crazy about some man cutting open my child's chest. I know it has to be done, but I sure as hell don't have to like it. I sent the email to his dad. No answer. But then I really wasn't expecting it. There is a tiny part of me that wishes he would turn human again. But I think Angelus is here to stay - if you know what I mean! Been getting flack for the whole "I do not want to celebrate my birthday", but its my birthday and I shouldn't have to celebrate. Its just another day in this hell, so whats to celebrate. Today is his birthday. I am sure he and the bigamistskank and out drinking and driving. I am very lonely. Sure I have the lovely people here, my 47 kids and my mom/dad. But I have no contact with any friends IRL. The friends I do have live in other places. My only human contact everyday is with strangers. I can't count the bible thumpers as friends, because to be my friend I have to trust you. Nuff said. Anyway, whinge whinge whinge. I shall be spending a quiet weekend. A little cleaning. A little Roswell and Firefly. Try to figure out what color my hair wants to be. That sort of stuff. Its all good. This too shall pass. Oh yeah, an old boyfriend from high school called today. He is married with a little one, but we talk everyonce in awhile. Its nice, someone who knows all the secrets and still loves me. Anyway Love to my FireFlyFans family. PS - how do you people know when I have a new entry?

I am looking for ways of making that happen, hopefully others will come up with a great plan! Maybe we can assemble Firefly dances some where! *giggles* that would be fun! Capture

Just came home from a pirate movie day. We started of by watching Yellowbeard, then moved on with Cutthroat Island and Pirates of the Caribbean:Curse of the Black Pearl. After that we went to the cinema to watch Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Mans Chest before finally staggering back for Roman Polanskis; Pirates before going home. It great way to spend a afternoon but it will take ages before I get the pirate shanty from PotC:CotBP out of my head, so... Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirates life for me, mateys. And goodnight to ye all!

Went to the Tampa Screening of the movie... The adventure went as follows: Had a map in hand and still got lost getting off on a toll road. I had the map in the backseat and when I saw Ext 77 pop up on the road I took it cause I couldn't grab the map in time but I remembered the directions said something about 77 on them. It was a toll road and I had very little change. Hope I didn't tick the lady off with giving her a bunch of sticky pennies. About 8 miles down I got to turn around. Looked at my map and it said 77 miles down not exit 77.... arrgh! Oh did I mention I'm in nearly all Zoë costume? I don't mind stopping for gas in costume. But stopping repeatedly for ATM, directions, and such was annoying. I got over it by the 3rd time in public. I didn't have the holster on yet so I didn't raise any panic signals. :) So after 2 hours on the road I arrived about 20 minutes late. Was greated by there cool organizers. Walked into the dark room and as I stood letting my eyes adjust I saw about 70-100 folk. What a glorious sight. Sat down in the dark room. Turns out I sat right next to my friend Dash, a Mal costumer. After the movie they gave out prizes and I met Ren for the first time. She won some heist money. Met Derelict Titan and a few others too. What a great group. Browncoats are so enjoyable. Everyone took pictures but I forgot my memory card so I didn't get any. :( This is your cue if you took pictures to send me some We talked about D*con, the boards, costumes, my latent crush on a pilot, popping your convention cherry, and just stuff. Felt like they were insta-best buds. Which...ya know browncoats are. Should have stayed longer and had dinner with everyone. But oh well. But that drive back didn't look peachy. Ren showed me the way back to I-4. _________________________________________________ In other news....anyone recognize this?

So the next part of my story is done. (Finally!) Took me forever to find the time to get it down. My beta testers are combing it now, though I still feel like soemthing's off every time I read it. Just wish I knew what it was. Oh, well, maybe one of my testers will point it out to me. Well, they pointed it out to me, and I must say I'm embaressed. This chapter wasn't nearly as good as it could be, so I'm reworking a lot of it. Which means it's going to be a bit longer before I post it. Sorry, but I promise it'll be worth it. Well, maybe not this chapter, but I will make it up to all of you at some point, I swear!

Done with Tech, round one of secondary degrees is finished. Now comes what is termed "real life", that segment where I'm supposed to climb my way up a corporation and settle down and become a community leader...blah blah blah...etc etc. Well so far I've managed to get as far from settling down as possible, landing in Evanston, WY, land of "fresh air, freedom and fun". Guess my lungs are expelling the pent up pollution i've gathered from Houston and Atlanta. I think I'll like my job at the natural gas plant, working for BP. The people at work are down to earth and have ideas that I can handle, like keeping the plant from blowing up and not worrying about a 3rd mortgage or whatever bastion of consumerism they are driving for. I'm looking forward to a simple life of working at the plant and them coming home to exercise and read, two things I can love. On the weekends there are nice roads to drive, which is always fun in my Miata. I feel like Mal, having come here mostly to escape inner city life, but I'm sure I'll miss the excitement of being in the big city. There's lots of open land here that I'll have to explore and it feels like a million miles away from the policies of the government. I just hope theres something worthwile to return to after I finish my rotation here.

...ing. Yep i'm going camping for the next 10 days. Kind of in the middle of England area. Lots of rock climbing, canoeing, raft building (me = doing none of the above:disappointed: ) seeing the local area and going on all the rides at the local theme park. So no more FF, Serneity, or FFF.net for me :crap: BUT, seeing that i'm a helper this year, lots of screaming at kids. with lots of Jayne-isms hopefully  So yep, no more internet for 10 days. Have fun everyone

I was watching the Speed Channel this morning for prerace coverage. Okay...it wasn't really watching. I was still half asleep. Anyway, they went to commercial and showed a segment called 'My First Car' when they talk to celebrites and ask them about...you guessed it...their first car. They had one with Jamie Foxx and I wasn't really caring. But then their next part is Laurence Fishburne and I really start caring because Gina is there with him. I sat up and said, "Look, it's Gina!" and of course my parents know who I'm talking about because I'm such an obsessor. I wasn't even paying attention to what Laurence said. I was just staring at Gina Torres...XD

I have been very surprised and disheartened by our limited response to our plea for volunteers. I dunno why, I just expected folks to just clamor to help! I'm deeply worried that our window of chance will speed right by this summer and into the Serenity 'Versary. I know we are doing all we can... and with our hearts full in it. But I still worry. I can't help but feel as if Universal will surely see our numbers growing if we can gather enough folks into our big family. With the huge volume of viewers of YouTube and the huge amount of folks who go about in the myspace universe I have hopes that we'll make Firefly/Serenity a part of pop culture. It already is such a success story.. I hope we can add to the legend.. that wonderful "mighty" that we are! Well, we'll see.. the battle is on.. we'll see who's colors fly at the end of the Summer. :) On a sadder note.. ( sorry this blog has been down lately) my little kitten ( one of three motherless babies :( ) was killed by the same evil dog who killed it's mother. There are still two remaining and they are well and more sprightly. Little Mia was a doll.. white with orange on her ears and tail.. very delicate and kind. I cried. Even though I live on a farm and I know that death comes.. I cried. I promise to be happier tomorrow. I do, really!

I was watching Bushwhacked today and right when River's waking up from a nightmare and the Reaver wannabe is getting up from the table in the infirmary, our carbon monoxide monitor started beeping. It scared the :censored: out of me.

I was having Firefly withdrawals. Also internet withdrawals. All at once. But that didn't stop me from having a grand time last week. I got to be a role model for a buncha middle schoolers. Good of me eh? After a grand week, the other counselors and I went to the place of my work. This place happens to be a sort of amusement park and it was heaps of fun. I was able to write some brief and incomplete things that have yet to be typed. So that is my update.

I have quit the firefly mod. But the only reason is no modelers. So I began to work on my own game engine. I have it stable, but yet again no modelers. So I am in desperate need of modelers!!!!! If any one wants to see a free firefly game from me talk with your friends, I need help. Well, enough of me complaining. Here are some of the features of my engine I have developed: - Powered By the Irrlicht SDK - DirectX, Open GL, and Software Renderers - High end graphics featuring parallax mapping and per pixel lighing - Phisics engine powered by Newton - Internet Library for multiplayer With some modelers, i can get this project started again!

Well I had an interesting anniversary of my mothers labor. Lets see - #1 called in a panic because his tire was flat - so mom (me) rushed to the rescue and 2 tires and $249 dollars later - problem solved. Then my house got hit by lightening and took out the modem and the air con. Dad "fixed" the air con temporarily - so now the fan runs continuously. He is going to try to replaced the fan switch today. Handy when ones step-dad is retired air conditioning mechanic! Both my dads mentioned this weekend that they had never met anyone with as much bad luck as me. I think its karma. I think I was Hitler in another life. The anniversary of my mothers labor was ok. I tried to have nothing and get nothing, but my mommy veto'd. I got a new printer, some parfume, a nightie and some lavendar goodies. The kids (all 47) pitched in money and bought me a day at the spa. I thought that was sweet. #2 starting to get a bit worried. Everyone please think positive thoughts for him and mom this week while they have surgery.

My new chapters are going down a storm. I say again: WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'd like to say thanks to all my regular reviewers: 1. CosmicFugitive, who is first because he has the most kick-ass name (Next to mine!). 2. RiverIsMyGoddess, who showed me the oddest picture, which is forever burned into my eyes. It burns! Not many. Hmm. More reviewers! Also, thanks go out to Leiasky, both for reviews, and for writing awesome fics.
Monday, 24 July 2006 16:37:13
Thanks to everyone who talked to me in a calm and reasonable manner. And the rest of you, too. I have taken a Deadwood screwdriver to my writer's block, and it is now in pieces! The rest of Cold Comfort Mountain will be posted up over the next little while. I have some time off at the end of the week, and sod the housework. This fic was originally going to be maybe three chapters, and a character piece. But then, so was 'Zen...'. And then a subplot arrived. All I can say is, it's interfering mightily with the crossover I'm plotting. And the adventure after that. They are stacking in a holding pattern! Note to self; stop drinking coffee. It makes the world all bright and shiny, but then all the little voices come at once...

After far too long, I've finally updated Choices. 5000+ words of Part 13 A is up, and will be followed by parts b and c in the next little while - in a much more timely fashion than this one, I promise! I have another 5000 words already written, with about 5000 to do, split between part b and c. Then, htere'll just bet he epilogue following that, and it will all be done! Thank you again to all of you who have been waiting so patiently for this, and who have continued to read despite the long delays between posts lately. And a special thanks to terimaru for all her support and help. I coudln't have done it without you, darlin'! I hope you all enjoy.

Damnit, that Summer Glau makes me blush and all I'm doing is watching videos of her . I feel like I'm creepy, but man...that girl is the epitome of beauty. I can't believe she's 25! Anyhoo, just thought I'd tell ya all about my "little" crush on Summer Glau...

It feels so good to be back!!! My computer has been in the shop for the last two days and I felt like a zombie just wandering about. I was so depressed I think I may have lost some weight. But now its back and I can breathe again!!!! What I'm a little ticked about is that it wasnt even my computer that was broken, it was my battery backup. so i was lost for two days for nothing!! but its all good now. got a cool new battery and now im trying to catch up on posts and fanfic. I think the only thing that has gotten me through was that Serenity has been on Cinemax everyday since saturday!! Thank God!

I spent most of last week at a friends house. Now I had previously introduced her to the verse so no problem there. But this week she had her sister and a friend from out of town over as well. Both had managed to see snippets of FF somewhere and were intrigued so I brought my copy along. I hooked em both. The friend especially. She's a new minted Wash fanatic. She curses Joss for killing her Wash. And now everybody wants Serenity and Firefly for christmas. Woohoo! Three more copies of each. Three more folk to spread the word. As to the other part of my blog. I was looking though some of my stuff and found a shirt that looks an aweful lot like Mal's Serenity shirt. Technically it's a women's shirt but it has no shape so no worries there. I even wear it with the sleeves rolled up. That is mostly cause they're too short though. There are two problems though. First off, I'm a female person and cannot cosplay as Mal. Second is that it's kind of a cranberry color instead of that faded red Mal wears. Does anyone know a color that I could maybe dye it with to get the proper shade?

Okay people i'm having a few problems on what Mal would say to a kid pestering him. So I'm only gonna give you a few lines prior to the part i need help with, so don't hassle me about not making sense. A small boy about 10 years old approached the deeply withdrawn Mal, who was contemplating how long he was going to wait for this potential pilot. The boy had obviously tried his best to clean the dirt and grime from his caked skin but nothing could hide the boys worn hands and heartbroken eyes as he positioned himself in front of Mal. “Where ya headin’?” the boy questioned Mal, wiping the sweat off his brow, as he scanned the crowd for trouble. “Not where your going. Now scram!” Mal retorted, trying to rid the kid quickly. Mal’s patience was being tested by both the boy standing in front of him and the lateness of the new pilot, as he tapped his foot on the metal ramp of Serenity. “Heard you were the great Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Is it true you killed 8 men with a single bullet?” The boy questioned, a large smile appearing across his face, as he looked up towards the hard worn face. Mal’s focus remained on the crowd, hoping he could leave this red-necked planet and collect his large booty waiting for him on Peresphone. What I need help with is what Mal would say after that ^ (must give away his destination of Persphone)

Alright, so I keep editing my story Sweet Serenity...God, it's never going to be good enough for me:bash:. The dialog is a little bit better, I think. Not as cheesy, I think it flows a little better...anyway, it dosen't matter what I think, it matters what you all think, so check it out and get back to me.

Don't forget to bid often as all proceeds will benefit the National Marfan Foundation. Lots of fanficcers and vidders are still affordable. Or grab a graphic artist to spruce up your website. One ho is offering a critical review of an author's fic. Several people are also offering website coding. Or bid on jewlry or a tarot reading.

So the nice lady from the Mobile Infirmary calls me to ask about #2, things they need to know before surgery and she says that after the surgery he will be brought to the Surgical Intensive care unit and now I am hyperventilating and generally freaking out. I need to get it out now, so I don;t do it in front of him, but I just want to cry. Silly I know, but there it is. Please. Please. Please - those of you that pray say one for #2 and me mum. Its a freakin week in FMFland.

I have got a comment and a few emails about what the game is about. Well the game is a FPS. The story has not been set up. There are also going to be some space sim where you fly Serenity. I dont have all the detail since the project is still very young. I dont know what will happen until I can find some good modelers. I hope to try and keep the community updated as much as possible.

Got a new chapter up! Don't know if it was worth waiting for, but it's there. And there's at least two more in draft form awaiting editing! Now all I have to do is wait for the reviews. Cue tumbleweeds... Never mind. Perhaps I shall start posting some of the recipes up, too.

The Ballad of Joss Joss, the man they call Joss . . . He wrote about spaceships and shepherds and whores, Stood up to the networks and gave ‘em what for. Fox cancelled his program, but that was their loss-- The creator of Firefly, the man they call Joss! Our Joss saw the viewers’ hearts breakin’, He heard the Browncoats’ lament, He saw the Fox network takin’, His show in a way that made no sense. (He said) “You can’t do that to my program, Can’t grind it under your heel.” So he took all the cast, And now at last, They’ve landed a Big Damn Movie deal! He wrote about spaceships and shepherds and whores, Stood up to the networks and gave ‘em what for. Fox cancelled his program, but that was their loss-- The creator of Firefly, the man they call Joss! Now here is what separates Whedon, From writers who slave in the core, The man they call Joss, Well, he said to Fox, “I’m going where no show has gone before.” He told us about reavers, He told us about sin, He took us to the black, And we ain’t comin’ back, ‘till all those crazy Browncoats rise again! He wrote about spaceships and shepherds and whores, Stood up to the networks and gave ‘em what for. Fox cancelled his program, but that was their loss-- The creator of Firefly, the man they call Joss! Now, here is what separates Firefly From other shows you’re likely to see— It’s meaningful and witty, And the setting’s really gritty, And the theme song is about Serenity. It’s a little like a western, And a little like X-Files, It’s better than Trek, And funnier than Shrek, And it beats out Andromeda by miles! He wrote about spaceships and shepherds and whores, Stood up to the networks and gave ‘em what for. Does anyone know how to deal with a computer that randomly shuts off. Its driving me nuts! I cant get anything done. Help or advice would be appreciated. Thank You!

Driving to work this morning. Ducks decide to cross the road. A car coming the other way swerves to avoid them. The car infront of me brakes madly to avoid it. I brake, just not as madly. I hit the back of the car infront. While they seemed to have at most a big dent, my bonnet got half-curled back up the front, mashing my radiator as it went, and the front lights went too. Both the other people (who were very understanding and chalked it up to 'just one of those things') and the people at the garage were surprised the airbag had not gone off. Everyone was okay and unhurt, just rattled. So now my car is in the garage again, and I've got a hire car again, because I forgot/neglected to call up my insurers and put a courtesy car on my insurance for only an extra £15 a year. Bloody annoying, I can tell you.

Just because I have a chain on my wallet! :disappointed: i can't believe I have to have classes with these dumbass jocks! At least I'm going on vacation in two days... hopefully that'll take my mind off things.

Life's been shiny lately. Things are in place and ready to be executed, in due time, of course. Life and its expectations have to fly to you one way or the 'tother. Hope that the crowd is doing well. Wish I could talk to more of you and be noticed some more, but its a big 'verse. A BIG damn 'verse. I've been trying to do some art to submit lately, and it looks picturesque until I try to shade the gorram thing, then it loses its shape. I also want to write more. I really appreciate people reading what fanfictions I had, even though they sucked. That story was like a sugar rush: great at the beginning then you get a headache as it begins to wear off. I tried to quickly and didn't plan. Almost everything rolled off my tongue without me taking the time to say "that's dumb as mud, don't write that". Well, I better leave it at that. Be well all...

My work brings out the best in me. Not really... But I do have funny stories to tell. one for say is about one of my friends at work that had a pair of goo covered undies tossed on him by one of the kids. The boy was aiming at me but I moved out of the way and it hit my friend in the chest. I never seen a person get that mad before. After afew hours I thought it was the funniest thing ever. AHHHH Wacky fun!

Hello everyone. As a new member, I guess i should make a short introduction of myself. I am indeed Swedish. (as stated in my nick ^^) 23 year old video game junkie who stumbled across serenity, and was hooked ever since. And now i concider myself a proud browncoat! :D I, like many others of the fans on this community have made some fan-spoofing of my own, and i guess i could share it here. I play Final Fantasy XI online alot, (Caleberiel on the Tian server, if any browncoat happen to play ^.^) and after i saw serenity and firefly i just felt i had to make an FFXI-vid on the theme. So i started plotting... and came up with a foundation for an alternate story based alot on what i had seen in Serenity and firefly. However with the limitations of an online RPG, i had to stick to one planet. So i wrote some, and i frapped some. And then i realized GEEZ this takes alot of time. So all i've managed to produce so far is a teaser, using music from the original movie. And i figured what the heck, it aint firefly per sé, but atleast it is made out of love for firefly. I named it Chronicles of Dust. And well... Here's the link to my little "teaser" trailer, for a project that will probably never be completed.

I just spent about 30 minutes digging through my history files to find a site I visited a week ago that had mandalorian armor. problem is, they don't have an unpainted version, it's just Boba costumes and Jango costumes. And I want a custom paint job for mine, so, not even going to bother saving up for something I'll have to remove the paint from and then paint a new color, just seems like to much work. so, if anyone knows of a site that does unpainted armor, I would appreciat a link.

So, I was trying to check my yahoo mail tonight, and got totally sucked into some weird-ass avatar builder program. Think of digital paper dolls and you've pretty much got the gist of it. Thought it was totally stupid til I found an outfit that looked like Zoe's. So, of course, now they've succeeded in hooking me. So here I am. The closest I will ever be to dressing as a BDH. Alright, well...I've noticed I'm not so good with the dialogue (as I've said MANY times before), and I wrote a little more on my story. The second part is still in the process of being written, but I'd like a beta-reader to help me out, that way I can avoid re-editing it and re-editing it after I posted it. Any takers:wink:? Just to tease you all, here's the very first paragraph of the second installment of "Sweet Serenity": The wind pushed lightly past his face, waving his hair around his forehead. He closed his eyes so he could feel the gentle breeze pass through. He opened them to find himself sitting on a large, circular stone that was dug into the ground. He looked fondly upon the bamboo stems as they joined his hair in their dance with the wind. He looked up to see the rays of the sun sneaking past the leaves as they too joined in the dance. The effect was the shadows on the ground moving in harmony with everything else. It was Nature’s Dance. He just had to smile.

The 29th of this month was my friends birthday. He turned 26. so after work we took him out even though I had to work a double in the morning. Wild turkey and rattle snakes and alot of beer later he was up in his boxers dancing on the table and the pole. After the bar closed we went to his house for a pool party. I don't remember much about that night. I do know however is that when I woke up the next day we were all naked out and around the pool. I'm still trying to figure out what her name was, just jokeing. When I got to work everyone told me that I looked like SH** and acted like it too. NO MORE BEER FOR ME THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay... first blog entry and as it pertains to me and is Firefly related, I thought it might be worth mentioning... Sometimes, looking back on a situation, you wish you could have done things a little bit differently. When I set out on my quest to tell the whole world about the greatness of Firefly I never reckoned it would bring any greater consequences than to hopefully (cross fingers and wish) raise awareness towards bringing back the show. However, the joy it has brung me in creating a new flock of Firefly devotees has all been relative. Not only did my bestest of best friends reject the show simply because it was a sci-fi (okay, I did attempt to show her the pilot episode first thing in the morning when she wasn't in the best of moods) but it caused me the greatest heartaching jealousy I have ever experienced. Having swiftly converted my ex-boyfriend (now simply close friend and fellow sci-fi buff) into a die-hard Firefly fan, I was totally gutted when, about a week ago, he told me he had been to the London Film and Comic Con. Not only had both Ron Glass and Alan Tudyk been there, but Nathan Fillion (Oh Mal... you are my hero!) had also put in an appearance. Of course, as soon as he told me (luckily over e-mail) I promptly threw a hissy fit and then started to cry. He even got a professional photo taken with the guy. Oh so close and yet so far. I'm still devastated. Anyways... now its been a week and I have suitably calmed down enough to meet up with my ex without killing him. I'll definately be drowning my sorrows when we next go out for beers, but I suppose thats life.

OK disney was really cool!! I saw some guy with a serenity shirt and went to him and said "I can kill you with my brain" and then I just went into the crowd and I saw him smiling and looking for me!!! It was awesome!! I also saw this guy that was dressed up as Captin Jack Sparrow and He looked really cool!!! It was awesome!!

I got the DVD. The Fan's DVD. I couldn't be more happy. I am so exuberant to be a fan of this fandom. My next venture is getting ahold of the soundtrack. That's some good stuff. So. If you've no idea what I'm talking about go to donetheimpossible.com. I also continued my storyline "Not So Shiny." That was an impossibility. Check out my newest chappies. Boyo, I cannot wait until I go back to school and have high speed internet. Later, friends. AgentRusco

With #2 at home and my mom on the mend, though still in hospital, I must now turn my thoughts to the divorce hearing on Friday. I am not looking forward to it. I get a really bad feeling and my heart starts racing. I suppose I will just have to pretend that it is not a concern. I am really really worried that somehow, regardless of the facts, he is going to come out of this the winner and the boys and I will be forced to sell the house. I have to work 6 am to 7 pm for the next 2 weeks to make up time off of work. I usually work 7-4 so that is 4 more hours a day to try and look like there is something to do. I know I have asked a lot of you all, but can I just impose 1 more time and ask that you think good thoughts and pray that the boys and I come out of this whole thing much better off than we are now? Love to all! edit Je souhaite qu'il se laisse tomber juste complètement

OK Please excuse my language but that F^&king piece of S&*t has gone to the house on the pretext of visiting #2 ONLY so that he could take pictures of the inside of the house. When borrowed girl told #1- #1 told the piece of S&*T that he had to leave. #2 was in tears, #1 is hopping mad and the borrowed girl and British borrowed girl are ready to kill someone. I really really really need for someone to beat this piece of crap to a pulp. But not really cause that would get me in trouble.
