So I'm going through my Firefly DVDs for about the hundreth viewing when I start thinking that Simon reminds my of someone. It took me several episodes to put it together but Sean Maher bears a not so passing resemblance to the actor who plays Sylar on Heroes. Didn't come to me right away because the characters are so diametrically opposed but then I started noticing similarites in their physical mannerisms and speech patterns. Anyone else getting this or am I reaching here?

Happy New Years everbodys! I'd apologize for the spelling mistakes, but several glasses of champaigne and a black and tan stop me from caring.

I got me two Christmas presents this year. We can't always afford much, so they were a long time comin'. Both were books. The first was the 'comic' book, Those Left Behind. The cover artwork was pretty. But I have to say I was a might disappointed. Dunno, maybe I got it in my head that they'd be better. I think what lacks is the actors. Sure, the writing and wit was good, but I realize just how much Nathan, et. al. put into their characters. The spirit of Serenity might be there, but without flesh & blood, ain't nuthin' more than just words of dust in the wind. The second book was Finding Serenity, the collection of essays editted by Jane Espenson about the show. Some of the articles are like a breath of fresh air. Some piss me off, but even that's good to see 'cause it makes a man think some. After all, ain't that what bein' free is? Speaking of which, I started off the new year by reading the essay by Mercedes Lackey (an ironic name) about freedom in the Firefly universe. Speakin' of makin' a man think some. I gotta say she put into words what I've been thinkin' for quite some time. I was thinking of the episode "Objects in Space" as River walks about the ship in the teaser and 'reads' each character. In light of Lackey's essay, I remember Mal's 'thoughts': "None of it means a damn thing." Now, I don't know 'xactly what Joss had in mind when he wrote that, but it does kinda take on a diff'rent meaning. Is Mal really free in the Black? I'd have to agree with Lackey, he ain't, and he knows it deep down. As Zoe explained in a cut scene from the pilot, once you been to Serenity, you don't really leave. An' I extrapolate that to the here an' now. How much are any of us really free? Like Mal, we often have the ability to go from one place or t'other, bad-mouth the Alliance all we want, get into all manner of bar fights, and take up business with those that'll pay. But there's always several mouths that got a powerful need to eat, the fact that havin' a ship don't mean nothin' if you can't buy the gas for it, and those that'll pay are usually those most willing to hook you up to some torturin' machine for days just to see who you really are. It's like the joke: I have a job so I can pay for my car. I have a car so that I can get to work. My own boss wonders why I ain't advanced to where he thinks I oughta be. Point is, none of it means a damn thing. I take on more stress and 'responsibility' (as they call it) to get better raises. Why? So I can pay for more go se? So I can have pride in my work (making all manner of unsavory things)? Once you've been to Serenity, you don't just up and leave. There's mouths that have this powerful urge to eat. So, I keep bowing down to the Beast -- Alliance no matter what side of the coin you are lookin' at -- just so I can keep flyin' in the Black somewhere I think is far enough from the Cor(porat)e, but not so far as were Here There Be Reavers. It's a livin'... [sarcasm]yeah, and I believe Mercedes Lackey is her real name [/sarcasm]. All manner of ironic.

I got into Firefly after my friend Quentin told me about it. I found this site after becoming obsessed, oh so hopelessly obsessed. So far I've converted my siblings to being Firefly fans, and I'm working on other friends. Anyway, I'll be around pretty often.

This is just in case any new readers check out my stuff and can't quite place it ... My series starts a few months after the BDM, and introduces a new character called Freya Nordstrom. She's an old friend of Mal and Zoe's, who fought in the war alongside them as an Independent, and who has loved Mal ever since. There is also another character introduced some time later - his name is Hank and he is Serenity's new pilot. He is smart and witty, and has a bad crush on Zoe. She'd rather throw him out of the airlock ... I don't want to tell you too much at this point, in case you've picked up one of the early stories, but I will say that there's babies and marriages along the way, as well as the reappearance of several well-known characters ... I've tried to keep to the main line as started by Joss Whedon, but this is my own extension, and the feedback I've received has been so encouraging that I don't see this ending any time soon, so I hope you enjoy!

Goodmoning my fellow Firefly fans :) It has been a year since I found and been drawn into the Joss verse and nearly a year since I found FFfan.net and you fine ppl. FollowMal gave me and the Mrs. our virtual browncoats that day and I haven't taken it off (well to wash it once in a while I have :)but in the virtual washer it only takes a couple seconds....ha..ha Anyhoo that was a couple of months after hurricane Rita (not Katrina) which hit our area and did a whole lot of damage. The local communities have pulled together and we are doing very well. You can still see lots of damage though and some of the homes that can't be repaired are at this time being bulldozed to the ground. It is pretty sad. But life and the verse go on. I have met many interesting ppl on this and other sites and I call most of them friends. I'm a pretty easy going fella and understand sometimes my opinions are not yours and I respect what you have to say. I like it that mine are respected also. We can share no problem. One thing I do really want is more FF/Serenity. I do understand that if a show isn't any good it will die and the network it is being shown on will pull it. But that isn't FF. the browncoat population is growing larger every day and an unpopluar tv series doesn't have 50 fan websites with thousands of dedicated fans. Nope there is more to this show than that. I hope that 2007 will be a great year for us browncoats. A new movie and telivision series will do just fine. T-shirts and posters and dvds and even trips that are not to far away I can do. coin is limited though so I may have to pull a train job or maybe a payroll theft to get the $$ to go further. Anyway that's a little more about me. I don't see my enjoyment of FF ending anytime soon if ever. I really like the new folk coming in and get a kick out of the way they got here. Well, that's abut it for today, see ya,Z

I’ve contemplated a lot of books and movies that have challenged me deeply. But never until Firefly has a television show ever done the same. From the first time I knew I was hooked, I knew that Firefly was destined to be an American mythos. Years ago, Joseph Campbell talked about the move Star Wars as a prime example of mythology. Based on Jung’s ideas of archetypes as deeply engrained symbols that stir a person to the primal depths of their subconscious, mythos used those archetypes in such a universal way, people of a culture – sometimes even cross-culturally – could find a deep, ‘spiritual’ meaning to them. Campbell could see a pattern of stories, from the deeply religious scriptures to the common urban legend, and identified those symbols. It wasn’t that they were untrue fairy tales. In fact, Mythos tells Truth more deeply than ‘objective history’ because, clouded in some subconscious code, timeless elements of the human condition exist that lead beyond the illusion of objectivity. George Lucas admitted that Star Wars: A New Hope was based on those mythological elements Campbell mapped out. And in many ways, it does contain those elements that stir the soul in a young man about growing up, facing magic, alien landscapes, and even death itself for the Great Cause. As a kid born in 1970, I found Star Wars as mythos, though I didn’t know it at the time. Here’s how it is, though. Myths, like Earth-that-was, can get used up. Star Wars was good for me as a kid because, back then, I couldn’t understand beyond black hats and white hats. Finally dragging itself out of Vietnam, I wonder if America needed that paradigm where good was always good, evil was always evil, and good always triumphed. For me, at least, that’s how it was. Until...

I remember Star Trek: TNG when I was a youngin' in high school. Longing for a really good sci-fi series, I tuned into episode number one. After that premier, my friends and I basically wanted to kill Worf, and have Wesley and Riker mutiny and go on a wild joy-ride across the neutral zone to hunt for someone like Khan. (Hey, I was a high school nerd. I admit. Ain’t proud, but…) I hung in there because it was the only sci-fi I was getting’, but even when the Borg came around, it had lost me. Only after watching Firefly do I know why there’s no way in hell I’d ever go to a Trek convention. With TNG, there was always this whiff of triumphalism to it. I think that’s why Trekkies/Trekkors (whatever) are such snobs. This greater-than-thou attitude is built in to the entire Trek universe – that the Human Federation is always superior, even if out-technologied... they at least unilaterally claimed a moral high ground. It’s probably just me, but that Star Trek/Star Wars mythos don’t work no more. My boys are really into The Lord of the Rings right now. I admire Tolkien’s ambition to write a new mythos for England. What Firefly did for me was hit me with what I think America's myth really is. I like LOTR a lot, but there’s something that SW/ST/LOTR have in common that I can no longer accept. The American myth that is fed to me on a regular basis these days is this: the hero sweeps in and saves the day because of some divine mandate from either Force or phaser. Current events aside, I think America has wanted to be that Star Wars myth of defeating the evil Empire in the name of the Force (TV preachers call it ‘God’…that’s a whole nuther can o’ worms fer another rant). Or others want to be that morally upright Federation whose constant march of history will triumph over all. “Yes, we did blow up the planet once, but look at us now, you silly Q! All you have to do is work hard to make that inevitable Federation come into being!” Truth is, I think most of us in America and its vassals are fed the promise of the ‘American Dream’ as much as the Alliance promised the benefits of civilization.
”…Ruled by an interplanetary parliament, the Alliance was a beacon of civilization. The savage outer planets were not so enlightened and refused Alliance control. The war was devastating, but the Alliance's victory over the Independents ensured a safer universe. And now everyone can enjoy the comfort and enlightenment of our civilization.”
Everywhere in our world (what some call ‘Real’), we get promises from politicians of all colors. Advertisers guarantee whiter teeth, trimmer bellies, less work, more leisure, more fun, more sex, perfectly happy children, a pill to fix anything, and a shiny car to drive on wide open roads (backroads on weekends…but still roads). TV Preachers invoke God for even more ‘blessings’ and a take of some of ours, promising that if we mutter the right magical words, we’ll get a pony and a little plastic rocket. Corporations lure employees in with promises of security and benefits, and when we swallow hook, line and sinker, our mortgage, car payment, and medical insurance keeps us locked behind desks, counters, computers, and tools. (Shackles made of paper...now ain’t that odd). That is why Firefly ought to be the American mythos...not that it is untrue, but because its truth cuts through the crap, lifts the veil, and tells it like it really is: real people…no aliens, angels (no pun intended) or photon torpedoes or robots to swoop in this time and save us.

In the ‘Verse, despite an interplanetary parliament and a vote on Unification (Inara, Out of Gas), democracy doesn’t save anyone. Neither does fighting. “Sorry, Luke, the Rebellion failed. It was just too hot to send in that gorram air support.” Although Mal won’t hesitate to shoot an unarmed Operative, he doesn’t go blasting Badger out of his den in some over-inflated machismo rampage when he doesn’t get paid. Money and privilege ain’t the answer neither. Inara is not as free as she seems. Simon loses everything. Jayne gets pinched trying to sell the Tam’s out. Power? Even the Alliance ain’t as all-powerful as it seems. They can’t control the Rim’s crime, let alone the Reavers. Even Ranse in Heart of Gold, with all his fanaticism and gun-waving, gets it in the forehead. Freedom itself is an illusion. It’s awfully crowded in Malcolm’s sky. The Bible doesn’t seem to say anything about freezing to death in space to Book in Out of Gas. (Note: I don’t share Joss’s atheism…just the opposite. That’s another rant for another time.) In the ‘Verse, there is no answer. Bad wins a lot. People starve. Things go wrong. Even the Browncoats aren’t all innocent – in Bushwacked, Harken implies that he witnessed mutilation on the part of the Independents, further implying Mal was to blame for staging a Reaver attack. Even the myth of our benevolent Browncoat is a lie. Mal is a bad man, no matter how much medicine he gives back to the local sheriff or how cutely Kaylee says otherwise. Though I am somewhat critical of Those Left Behind, we do see that Mal will knowingly steal money from folk. He will shoot a man in the head rather than let him on the mule to escape Reavers. That powerful need to eat can be quite the justification for liberating anyone from their precious coin. Mal, on the other hand, still cracks me up when he shoots the unarmed Operative or yanks Simon's cord in the Serenity pilot ("Kaylee's dead" gag). It's not that I think Mal is simply a cool badass, and therefore could kick either Han Solo’s or Picard's butt without shedding a tear (moral tear, that is. I’m sure he’d still yelp when Simon tries to stitch him up again). It's just that Firefly is more real. Mythos, in the end, isn’t about answering the questions. It isn’t about forty-minute solutions or triumphant endings to thrilling trilogies, as fun as that is. Husbands and mentors die. We mess up and steal medicine for a sadistic crime boss. The gorram air support don’t come no matter how many times I kiss my shiny gold cross. Jayne ain’t no saint that’ll deliver us from boss Higgins. In the end, all we real people know is to keep flyin’. Sometimes we lose, and the Powers-that-Be cancel shows a world more real than American Idol. Sometimes we win, and movies get made. Sometimes grand actions like a civil war end up meaning nothing. Sometimes, the small acts of love and faith and hope can stand up against the most hellish Reaver, Operative, Fox Network Executive, or Alliance. It’s been years, now, since a small Firefly full of nobodies first flew the Black. We ain’t pretty, honorable, or all that good. We ain’t rich or powerful. But we are real – Browncoats, Purplebellies, and regular folk alike. It is we who are aboard Serenity. Them that don’t care to look much will call it fiction, but we know otherwise. And if you’re reading this, you know we’re still flyin’.

Hey All I was just cruising around the net, and discovered this little bit of info. It seems that when THE O.C. wraps up in February, it wraps up for good. Here's the link to the article.

Firstly, Happy New Year to everyone, I hope you had a good one full of fun, booze, and sex (2 out of 3 here). It seems like a lifetime since I have been on here due to the events of the past week or so, which I will now (hopefully) get down in writing. The Good: New Years itself was pretty rockin’ for me and mine. I left work early on Friday, and at some point during the day was called to be told that we had Tuesday off due to a day of mourning for president Ford, so I had a good long weekend ahead of me. I had to work Friday night until close, which was ok, as it put a little cashy-money in my pocket. I got the boys from Ami on Saturday, which went well, as I did oversleep a bit (the snooze button gets me in trouble all of the time) but made up for it by giving her a little extra money for gas because she came farther than the halfway point to meet me. I took the boys to my parents’ house, where we all ate like kings and had loads of fun playing. My brother Blee and his girl Moto were there, and my other brother Jonathan and his girl Kat showed up as well. Our New Years party started that Saturday evening, with a gathering at Harley’s Tavern VI (

Hello my lovely crew! Ah, it's been a long four months, but I'm back! Huzza... Everything has been pretty peachy. Navy life is good, but the time away from your old life and those in it is the biggest price to pay, I feel. I've met many a face from many a place in these past four months, and have befriended the most unique of persons. There are grueling times and times when you think that a life like this isn't one you wish you had, but it passes. Most of the flock are respectful and helpful, while others threaten you in response to the smallest of gestures. All the result of their own upbrining. News about my current events: I've been dwaddling in yet another fanfiction, one that I hope will be pleasing to read. I haven't had time to draw anything, and if I had, I wouldn't be able to show it to anyone. I had a wonderful Christmas. Got to see my family. That was the greatest gift. I hated leaving them. I brought my laptop up to Illinois with me, and now I'm here. I got a cellphone as well (very first one ever) and now I can keep in touch a lot easier than I could before! I'm happy for that. Well, I best go. There's work to be done in order to achieve my evening reward - LIBERTY! (freetime) One thing is for certain: I will be on and visiting my beloved crew more often now! Be well, loves.

So, it's finally happened. I got my call up. You know, you join the military 13 years ago, and you don't expect these things to happen. I was informed on Tuesday that I leave Saturday for Iraq. Just when I thought I had some things figured out, too! Not being in the Army, however, I shouldn't be there all that long. It's just that the timing is horrible. My lease goes up while I'm gone. Both of my children's birthdays happen (as well as mine, but, I can live with that) and I've only been with TWG for 6 months, and then I get called up! (I'll be back in 4 months, before anyone gets any ideas!) I've really no idea when I'll get to check in or not. But, as always, it's nice puttering around here from time to time. You kids play nice, now!

It's been far too long since I visited this site and it warms my heart to drop in and update my log. Well I have had a job for going on four weeks now. It is so refreshing to have the search be over and all the stress relieved with that first paycheck. It is amazing what a little cashy money will do for your morale especially when there are things like bills, car repairs or those pesky compression coils to keep up with. I managed to actually see half of Slither the other day. My brother had rented it but returned it before I could finish it. I only watched half of it but was struck by how the small town sherrif that Nathan plays reminded me of Mal a lot. (Maybe it was the stiped kind of brown pants ) Anyway I was enjoying it and some time along I will finish it. I have gone quite a ways with my fanfic which i still haven't gotten around to putting it on this site. Maybe its the daunting task of making into chapters. It is just all one big story at this point about twenty typed pages. I love working on it though. It lets my omagination wander the corridors and catwalks of that beloved firefly and rub elbows and shoot the breeze with our crew. I will be contented with that if i must while I wait for the 2nd companion to the show to come out and hope for another Serenity movie and as always I am holding till Mal gets back. Holding the line with you my fellow browncoats who wear that dusty brown coat with pride and long to sail in a firefly.

what do you think the chances of them making a second movie would be? i think they could but thats just me hoping.

Because I'm really kind of sick of waiting for Children of Men and Pan's Labyrinth to show up in a theater near me, I'm going to go ahead and post my Top Ten list for 2006. Those two will just have to go on this year's list next January. Runners Up: 20) Night Watch 19) The Prestige 18) Slither 17) Silent Hill 16) Lady in the Water 15) Happy Feet 14) World Trade Center 13) Hard Candy 12) Flags of Our Fathers 11) Hollywoodland Top Ten: 10) JOYEUX NOEL - In a year when the war in Iraq should have ended, it's good to see a movie like this. One that not only denounces war, but does so in the name of Christmas. The fact that the film is trilingual (English, German, French) makes things a bit confusing, but the message comes across loud and clear. 9) SUPERMAN RETURNS - A lot of people railed on this movie for being boring. They must've been watching a different movie. While certainly not the most thrilling movie released this year, Superman Returns reminded us why we need Superman, and Bryan Singer's steady direction shows just how much difference the director's touch makes (Brett Ratner, the guy who ruined X-Men 3, was originally supposed to direct this). The opening titles alone are worth your money. 8) PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST - Everyone who was disappointed in this film was either asking for far too much, or forgetful of the fact that this is only half of the story. Some of the best special effects 2006 had to offer, and one monster soundtrack helped make this the 3rd highest grossing movie ever. 7) MONSTER HOUSE - After Pixar's Cars left me seriously disappointed, the only thing to ease that disappointment was Monster House. Not only was it more interesting, it was simply a better film on every front. What Robert Zemeckis did with The Polar Express finally looks palatable onscreen. The CG work here is amazing. 6) LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE - Sometimes simple is better, and that's kinda what Little Miss Sunshine is all about. It's funny when it needs to be, dramatic when it needs to be. Despite being rated R, it's more or less the perfect family film. 5) (tie) CLERKS 2 / ROCKY BALBOA - The only reason I put both of these in the #5 spot is because they're about the same thing. People get older, but that doesn't mean they're completely done for. Rocky, Randal, and Dante all showed us that there's still life to be had after one's prime. These are arguably the best films that either Kevin Smith or Sly Stallone has ever directed. 4) THE DEPARTED - It's a pretty great movie, if you can stomach the violence, language, and an ending that makes you ask "Why?" Not "Why?" as in "Why did that happen?", but more of a "Why did the movie have to end like that." The ending drops the ball on an otherwise perfect movie. And for that, it gets 4th place. 3) CASINO ROYALE - Stands toe to toe with my personal favorite Bond movie (Goldeneye), and frequently borders on greatness. Daniel Craig is easily the best Bond since Sean Connery, and the opening credits are relentlessly cool. 2) V FOR VENDETTA - This is my personal favorite of 2006, even though it's in the #2 spot. It's not perfect, but there are enough great moments and top-notch scenes that make it worthy of any collection. Political allegory, science fiction, social fiction, action, suspense, it's all here, and it's fantastic. Hugo Weaving's V is the best character of 2006. 1) STRANGER THAN FICTION - Stranger Than Fiction worked on me like no other movie in 2006. It managed to mesh comedy with some pretty weighty drama, a stellar cast, and WIll Ferrell, who was surprisingly restrained. The premise was manipulated so effectively, that it didn't matter if the whole movie seemed implausible. That's why it's stranger than fiction, because things are so off kilter that a normal story would collapse under the pressure. In a year of movies that fly off the handle in every direction imaginable, Stranger Than Fiction brought things back down to earth in a way that ever

Happy new year, all. Well, I haven't written an entry here in a few years, but I'm in need of a semi-anonymous outlet, and heck, I already have a username here. It's more than a bit gripe-y, so feel free not to read if whinging offends. It all just reminds me how great Firefly was, and how much I miss being able to watch it every week. I own the dvds, but it's different than setting aside that weekly tv time. Basically, I'm having post-holiday 'holy crap I have a lot to do' anxiety. At the moment, it's mostly focused on France. Sigh. I think I've been living in England too long - I seem to have developed some sort of automatic negative reaction to France. Anyhoo, I have to arrange a trip there to see some manuscripts at the Bibliotheque National. Alas (somewhat amazingly for someone who moved across the atlantic sight-unseen) I have a hard time with change and/or new experiences. What if I get lost in Paris? Can't find a hotel? A place to eat? What if I can't manage the entrance interview with the librarian. I can only read French - I certainly can't speak or understand it. What if I can't figure out how to pay for an underground ticket? A bus ticket? What if I get stuck there forever? I'm struggling to organize a trip to Oxford to have a look at some stuff there - how will I manage france! Sigh. This on top of the fact that I was in a bit of a slump pre-Christmas, and need to pull myself out of it if I expect to get a PhD before my visa expires in two years. And I can't seem to convince anyone how little I do everyday. They just say 'oh, I'm sure its fine'. ITS NOT FINE. After which I'll be totally unemployable anyway. I swear, every time I read the careers department booklet it depresses me. Want to be a librarian? More school. Work in a museum? Voulunteer for a few years, and then you have a chance at maybe getting an underpaid job if you are really really lucky and the gods are feeling gracious. Professorship? - oh, sorry, you went to Cambridge where there is no chance for meaningful teaching experience, go away. Publishing? unpaid internship, again with the gods. YAY!! Ok. I'm done. Sorry. Just my history of slight anxiety catching up with me. MY CBT techniques should kick in any time now.

I'm on the bus coming home from school today, and this 11th grader and his friend who I've never talked to before are in front of me. I'm wearing my 'Battlestar Galactica' sweatshirt, and the guy asks me if it's a good show. So I'm babbling aout how much i love it, and when I'm done the guy's friend says 'Oh! That reminds me! Duuude! I just bought Firefly!' and I SCREAM and jump forward a little. We spent the rest of the ride fireflying. These guys, are officially my two new best friends =]

Well, I haven't done a Blog in a while so I'll try and remember what's happened. Since the last Blog I've hung out with Rhys again, he's always a hoot (alot like Jayne in many ways actually). We ended up having a serious conversation and he told me about how he feels like I'm the only person he can really talk to, I feel the same, I have lots of girlfriends but they're not like me so there's a little bit of a barrier. This situation kind of sucks because there are some things I just can't talk to a guy about. Back to the conversation, basically there's an issue with his brother. His brother and him aren't very close, his brother actually tried to kill him a few times when he was younger. It's really not my place to tell but suffice to say it's bad. I'm trying to talk him into talking to his mom or dad or someone but he's afraid of his brother. As an added bonus Luke (Rhys is sort of like a mutual friend for me and Luke but we've been getting closer for reasons that will be explained in the next Blog I promise), has been getting sucked into WoW, we're hoping it'll cool down once we get into the school year. WoW is a fun game and I'll be it addicting but it's just unhealthy how much he's playing. That's the ugly, we're gonna work our way down to bad now. School's starting in a couple days and I have homework to do. I'm not talking any old homework, I'm talking Niska and Math all mixed together. Here's the good. On Monday morning, I get to find out if Mrs. Beale (my Music teacher) liked Firefly! I lent it to her for the Christmas break and I want to see what she thinks; I'm also just really happy to get my disks back. I'm worried she fell in love with Wash, because then I'll have to give her Serenity and she'll hate me and let's just not go there. More good, on Tuesday I get to resume my bass lessons, w00t w00t! And yes, even more good, tonight was awesome! My mom went out with some of her friends from work so my dad came over to my grandparents house, we listened to music, ate good food, made fun of people and made fun of eachother, we pretty much laughed the whole night, apparently my grandfather doesn't understand the words "careful, it's hot". My dad and I almost broke my grandmother's computer because we both wanted to use it. I wanted to talk to you guys and he wanted to talk on his nerd board. Final good, I realized that my grandparents dog is exactly like Mal. His name is Pablo but he's like Mal in every way, he responded to me when I called him that. Oh and I almost forgot, I'm starting to memorize the Mandarin phrases in the back of my Serenity RPG book. Some just plain weird things, I recieved e-mails telling me that I had won some UK lottery, I don't even live in the UK! Also, recently my speech pattern has started changing so I have 2 modes, Encyclopedia Sarah and Jayne Sarah, it's really weird and because I'm brushing up on my Mandarin it's becoming impulse to swear in Mandarin instead of English. I'm pretty sure that's all the notable stuff, I guess the only other thing really worth saying is that i am slowly but surely making my way to the $200 needed for my dream bass. I hope you all have a shiny week, I'm gonna miss being able to talk to you as regularly as I have been.

So, I'm in school. But i have no idea what I want to do in life. I don't know what I want to major in. It's not like I don't have options. I'm smart, pretty much have all the doors open. I could do anything. It seems like all my friends and people i've graduated with have everything all lined up. They know what they want to do, they're having fun in college and i'm not. I'm lost in the woods.

Well, my antiquated little computation device has finally bit it. No job too small for the Purplebellies, I suppose. The Blue Screen of Death is my new friend. Got a pal who might be able to wipe the drive and start fresh, but that may take some time. I'll try to find alternate means to post my wannabe screenplay. Bear with me, my beloved 'Coats. Hi there, I am currently very, very happy. My annoying next door neighbour, Brainless, has upped sticks and moved to Peterlee according to his mam. I am so pleased. Hopefully this means no more loud music at stupid 0'clock, or him banging on the door to be let back into the house. I was going to go to hand in my essay but the bus didn't turn up. I know they aren't taking it off until the end of the week but this is ridiculus. Me brother and I went shopping with our friend Bobby on Saturday. It was fun. We spent more time in pubs than actually shopping. We were in a bar called The Purple Room (I think) singing along to songs that I can't stand. Girls Aloud for example and a song that I don't know who recorded it or the title but goes "Do you really like it, do you really like it, I'm lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it". We're supposed to be going to the Metro Centre on Thursday if everyone can manage it. TTFN Jennifer -x-

and my Ohio State Buckeyes have failed me. They have a great season, undefeated. QB wins Hiesman, and what happens?!?! They give up. QB got his throphy, and graduated, so he doesn't care anymore. They could have easily won. Such a dissapointment. Absolutely pathetic. The were horrible. Completely horrible. Coaching sucked, players sucked. So sad...

Originally posted as a Myspace Bulletin: Road to D* Con Body: Allright, listen up. I've made the decision to drive to Dragon Con rather than fly. I figure that since there's gonna be the need to move equipment, why not just drive it with us. I am completely serious about this. Anyone interested in traveling, meeting, or joining the caravan can reach me here. I'm looking into particulars such as length of travel, gas, times and dates, and how big of a van I can reserve. For me the trip is basically from Reno to Atlanta. A side track or two of a few hundred miles is not out of the question for any committed Browncoat. End Bulletin So here's the idea. I wanna drive across the United States to D*CON and meet, if not pickup a few interested Browncoats. I figure a few will have to fly back home for work or will have to fly to Atlanta and might want a leisurely ride home. Though I will be departing from Reno, Nevada, a few two hour detours can't hurt a whole lot. So here's my reasoning behind the whole idea. I have not been out on the road for over a decade. Sure I've flown back east a few times, but the experience is always much more worth while when done from the ground. There is opportunity to meet new people (and a few from FFF.NET where I post regularly) on a trip I've only dreamed of. I have a video camera. For some odd reason I feel the need to capture the kinship of the folks I'm hopin' to meet. Lastly, I need to get away. I can't exactly run away forever, but I can go my own way. I've felt the need to sail off into the black. Not neccessarily never to come back, but more to be and do and be myself outside of home and work and family. That is a feeling I have not known for a very long while. If there is anyone who feels a bit of the same and wishes to sail off, even if only for half the trip, contact me. I'm sure there are plenty of groups and caravans headed in the same direction and it would be great to see who or what we could run into. Aimin' to misbehave Joe

First of all. thanks for all the advice for college. Still have no idea. :) but i'm sure going to lots of different classes will help me narrow it down. and thanks to everyone wish my friends over seas will be okay. espeaicaly if they didn't want to go anyway. But on a happy note. I've decided to start writing again. I wrote stuff when i was in high school. Just short stories. But i think i'm going to write a longer one. I have several ideas, however nothing serious. I don't even know if this project will ever get done. I don't think i'll turn it into a reflection on me or anything like that. but who knows how the characters will turn out. Ideas just sort of pop into my head while i'm riding the evil bus #3. -_-

Hey guys Just wanted to give a quick shout out to all the folks that have read my story so far. As I'm sure a lot of you know, it means a lot as a writer, when people take the time to read your work. And thanks for all the shiny comments you guys have been leaving, too! I've found it very encouraging, and your comments inspire me to write more, so thank you. Oh, and for all those wondering, I just finished writing the first draft of I Choose Chapter Four. So after the usual course of beta-ing and corrections, I reckons that this, the final chapter of this series, will be posted up around the begining of next week. Thanks again for all your support, Browncoats! Take care y'all, see you round the 'Verse!

...can i not remember two words. It cannot be that hard to remember "adversely affected" and yet whenever I try to think of them, my mind goes totally blank. I've had no problem remembering "did not believe in an equalitarian system of education" but i cannot remember those two words. Other than that the revision is going well. It's two weeks until the exam and I am starting to remember quite a lot. I know the infant mortality rates in the 1930s for England and Wales, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden and Chicago. If I keep going at this rate, I'll be able to answer the questions. I am planningon doing questions on health in the 1930s, the legend of the Jarrow Crusade or Ellen Wilkinson, with the National Unemployed Workers Movement as a back up. I handed my essay in yesterday. It's done and I'm not going to think about it anymore. I actually posted some stuff into the Blue Sun Room. I drew some pictures. They aren't very good, but they're excellent by my usual crappy standards. I've only ever done two other better pictures, a Georgia O'Keeffe flower and a picture from Durham Cathedral Cloisters. Hey All Today was kind of a big day for me. For the last few months, I had been lurking around Cupid.com, seeing who was looking for someone and wondering whether or not I should take the plunge. I had been debating this for a while, and been trreading lightly when it comes to ingratiating myself to the opposite sex. I had tried an online dating serive a few years back, and admittedly it didn't lead to too much success. I had lost a ton of weight and was looking really good for the first time ever, and so I was hoping to hook up with like some tiny thin blonde. I ended up dating two gals, both kind of on the plus size. The fist gal was just as much a geek as I was, which was kind of cool at first. She was really into Predator and all that, and I guess she was my second ever girlfriend. But in two months, we kinda figured that we kind of had too much in common. And the second gal I only saw for a few weeks. She was this divorcee who kept going on about when she was raped and wanted to commit suicide. So she was a real go-getter for me. So I tried instead of going afar to find a gal in the film program to hook up with. I igured that couple who meet in college are usually in the same program and all that. But I found that most of the gals I was into were already attached, married, or had girlfriends of their own (which admittedly turned me on a bit). And there was one gal that I talked to briefly at a party in April that I thought had a bit of a connection. But I only talked to her once on a payphone in Saskatoon in July and that was it. She ended up going to England for a whole semester, so it's been about 8 months since I've seen her. I saw her again in my doc class, but I'm not sure about whether or not she would be receptive at all to any advances I'd make on my part. In general, I have no idea on how to approach the opposite sex when it comes to romantic gestures. I've tried the direct approach and the 'build up the friendship' approach, neither of which worked. So I figured, fuck it. 2007. New year, new me. And instead of just any random gal that passes me, go to where they are in cyberspace. So I bit the bullet, sent the money order, and today I got the e-mail saying that I've been upgraded to Gold status for four months. I filled out my profile, my pics are pending approval, and I think the stuff I have on there makes me look good. I've sent a few eye contacts already, so I guess I just have to wait and see. I'm both excited and nervous. Excited that maybe something will happen (and hopefully with a gal whose hitting the gym daily like I am), and nervous that I just flushed 60 dollars down the drain. Any advice or supportive comments? Also, I'm trying to make a screen capture of an image from the latest episode of THE OFFICE. I have it downloaded, but when I left click on the paused image, nothing happens. Any ideas on how to do what I'm trying to do?

Yes,you read it right. With recent bizarre news,i cant help myself.Birds falling dead in Texas and Australia.A pungent unexplained smell sickening people in the east.near summer-like temps in the upper east U.S.That fruitcake leader of Iran practically daring Isreal to launch its nuclear bunker busters deep into his country.the idiotic senseless invasion of Iraq, given the fact that no plan was in place for its securring, thus losing the effort before it began.I just dont know. Will our species realize the 'verse so invisioned by our man Joss? Will we even be able to put someone on mars?or better yet, travel to the moon one more time?Doubtful in such a world as ours.Everyone can sense "a something" on the horizon, something bad, something wicked this way comes, some sort of distruction-ultimate distruction:crap:

I was intrigued to hear a recent guest on an over night radio talk show discuss certain predictions that the Hopi natives have made for generations. It is said that among all the native tribes of North America, the Hopi are the most spiritual, and to this day are holding steadfast to ancient traditions. Chief among those is the vibrant oral folklores and predictions that are for the most part, kept secret.Anyway this guest started talking about the Blue Sun prediction of the Hopi.It states that after a horrible season for all of Humanity,a blue sun will appear. This occurance will mark the beginning of a golden age, rebirth,a period of enlightenment. So i wonder if the Blue Sun we all know is in reference to this?hmmmmm.Being a wee bit Cherokee,i find this blissful. The Welch in me agrees.

This is my first entry, duh. So I just figured I'd say HI. I just finished the short first season of FireFly and found it amazing. I think I will always be confused as to why the show was cancelled. It was brillantly done! I remember a while back when it first came out, I remember really wanting to watch it. Though due to how life can throw you some curveballs sometimes I did not have the pleasure. Though thanks to my roomate I got a hold of the season. I finished it last night and was sad. I would watch the movie tonight but my lover wants to take me out. SO that has a raincheck :) The show is awsome in all aspects. It kept you guessing at the same time giveing you the juicey details. There was mystery, drama, romance, action and most of all beutiful girls. My favorite characters had to be Inara, Kaylie, Jayne and of course River. Shepard had his moments though. Inara was beutiful and I could relate to her. Her style was unique, it was her own. Elegant yet spry. Kaylie was instantly my favorite the moment I saw her. I was like "That would be me if I were on that ship!" She was very pretty but not beutiful, like me. She was sensual yet playful. She saw the light in anything dark. Jayne was a riot. I didn't much like him at the begining. I really thought he was going to do some real wrong to the crew, then he grew on me and I found him cute, silly, and just a guy who wanted everyone to THINK he was bad ass. Much like myself. River, she was the mystery, the real mystery. Though I belive we all know that already. My favorite part about her was that everything she said had something important to it and the crew did not even realize it. If it weren't for her they would have all died many times. She was beutiful in her own dangerous, adorable way. My favorite part with her on the show as when she sliced Jayne. I don't think there was a real point to that part other than to add some more drama to the show. It didn't have any specific reason to happen. The second most favorite but not the least was when she was in the cargo bay and she bent down to look at that small branch. The way her foot and face were in the shot at the same time. I could just picture exactly how she was standing and how most people don't normally have the ability to do such a thing. It was exotic and arousing at the same time. Needless to say I loved the show and will always love it. I am an artist so keep an eye on the Blue Sun Room for my artwork. Im about 40% finsihed with it. Just have to ink and color it. Anyhow, Im at work, so I gotta go. LATERS!

I can’t really say that this birthday is one that makes me feel “old”. Nor is it one that normally registers on anybody’s “landmark” birthday list; what’s special about the number 47? I’ve been doing what I always do and consider myself whatever the next “landmark” is, “almost 50” in this case. I used to be almost 45 for at least two years running. It’s how I prepare myself I guess. By “being” the age before it’s here, it doesn’t feel bad when it actually gets here. So what about 47? I’ve had a feeling of dread about it for years. Decades in fact. Does it inform my every thought? Does it motivate my every action? No. Usually, I don’t even notice it’s there. Once in a while it crosses my mind and I scowl it away. It’s like this. I am about to turn the age my mother was when she died. Don’t worry, I don’t think I’m going to die this year. I should have died several times over half a lifetime ago. But I didn’t. It wasn’t my time. I believe everyone is assigned a certain number of heartbeats or breaths or some other measurement unique to them, and when that number expires, you’re done here. That’s why some people seem to live so very much in a short span and others linger on in seemingly endless tedium. I’m still here, I still have living to do. (Much of it at D*C, I’ll wager.) But the number still haunts me. 47 is just too young to die. But what is the right number then? I had just turned 15, finished my first semester of high school with all A’s. I was growing up and starting to figure things out. My mom was my best friend. And my oracle. She was a single mom before the concept was even acknowledged. She worked and raised me with the help of her parents. Sometimes it was like we were more brother and sister in a way. My grandparents and my mother were immigrants to America. Before that they were refugees from Yugoslavia in Austria. For 12 years. They lived in a one room flat and worked in the camps. I have no idea except from some pictures how hard life was, because when they talked about those times, my family being who they were and are, told funny stories. Every ugly facet of their lives was fodder for the comedy cannons. Except perhaps the worst of the memories which were never discussed. At least not in a language I understood. When the time finally came when they rode over on the boat to the great land of opportunity, like every cliché you’ve ever heard of, they arrived with three suitcases and three wooden trunks. In a matter of a few years, they had a house, solid jobs and bank accounts. My mother met and married my father during their second year here. Four years later she had to leave him. Alcohol and abuse. Old story. Nobody messed with the family. My dad would never fit in even without the booze, in a way it ended up speeding things along to an inevitable conclusion. So there we were, we four. And little did I know that everything they had ever done everything they had ever lived for was for me, even before they knew who I was. Ironically, I wouldn’t even be here if my dad hadn’t insisted on an heir. My mother just couldn’t see bringing another child into such a crazy, mixed-up world; a view she passed on to me. But he talked her into it and there I was. Even though she may not have wanted a child, she certainly did love me. And so while everything my grandparents did was for her, stifling though it was at times, everything my mom did, she did for me. Single minded, completely focused when traveled life’s route. Which for me included a lot of television and for my mother included very little. She enjoyed the Pink Panther cartoons on Saturday morning (it gave her a break from vacuuming, she said), and Masterpiece Theatre featuring Upstairs, Downstairs, every Sunday night. She never missed an episode. Except one. Continued at

Well first the sad news-I'm moving into semi-retirement as a fanfic writer on this wonderful site. (After an illustrious career of one series). When I say semi it's becuase I might put a couple of things on now and again-For instance an epilogue or two to The Temptress and The Hunter. I've really enjoyed this site and I will continue to enjoy it-Its just that I wont be around as much. However This does NOT mean that my attempts to get a second season of Firefly will be abandoned. I'll still try and get people involved in that and hopefully there is something else on the horizon. The main reason I'm going into Semi-retirement is that I'm simply to busy to continue writing Fanfic-this will be my first year of Uni. As well as this I've got a movie script I'm working on (which I intend to direct and star in as well)-Look for Split Lip(working title) in DVD bargain bins over the next couple of years. I'm trying to organise a concert in m local area and thats going to require a shitload of work-But I'm soooo up for it. Also I have my first real Standup gig coming up and that is scaring me to death. So theres a hell of a lot going on in my life right now. A big thankyou to all who read (and hopefully enjoyed) The Temptress and The Hunter and a special thanks those who commented, both there and on these blogs. Espicaly BlueEyedBrigadier, Hobbliet and msg. Also Myspace is still up and running (I might be addicted) and the Temptres and The Hunter is being posted there as well (I promise the epilogus will be FFF exclusive) So if you want to add me or just take a look;

Hi there, I have some more funny grafitti. Yesterday I was on the Metro to Sunderland and I saw some great grafitti. It said "I killed Pauline Fowler." Also in a bus stop Robbie Leigh is apparently off his fucking edd. I went shopping with John and Bobby yesterday and Saturday. On Saturday we went to Sunderland and spent more time in pubs than shopping. We were sat in a purple bar singing songs that we really couldn't stand. Yesterday we went to Durham, The Metro Centre and Sunderland. We had to run for the bus since it was five minutes early and all being extremely unfit was incredibly tiring. There was also this great shop in the Metro Centre called Hotel Chocolat. My idea of heaven. We met up with the two Andrews in Sunderland cos they went to see Casino Royale. Putting John, Crawford and Blakey in room together is a recipe for hilarity. I was at the dentist today. Apparently my wisdom teeth have partially come through but no more. And since they don't take them out unless they have to, I'm going to have to live with it. But he said my oral hygiene is excellent so it shouldn't be much of a problem. TTFN Jennifer -x-

Tis I. Alive and sorta well. Has been a long slog through Christmas, which btw, was lovely. Darling Jesse is home from Iraq and came to visit his first love (tis me). Used to really tic his mother off, but he loved me more. We had a great time just hanging. I had my first 3 loves in the house at the same time - #1,2 and darling Jesse. Then Jesse went to Picayune and fetched borrowed boy for a day. So my cup ranneth over with the beautiful boys. All 47 chitlens got together and I now am the proud owner of the first seasons of Angel and Buffy and both seasons of Dark Angel. #1 and I are hooked and have been screaming nasty things at the tv while watching Dark Angel. We are on disk 4, so no spoilers please. WHY ARE ALL THE GOOD ONES CANCELED! Work still sucks, but its a job. The crud still hangs on. I think I need to move to NM or something. I will never be well here. The kids are all for it, but its maybe too daunting right now. My cell phone died so today I get to go get me a pink razor - for free! Gee I really am a girl. I hope everryone had a good new year and a happy christmas. Word to my peeps! LOL

Hello all you lovely people! I actually have exciting news to start off with. Well, it is to me anyways and I was so happy I could just burst! Our friend Steveo and his wife Jamie are having a GIRL! Yay!! I am so incredibly happy for them! Now they are a little young and scared, (Steveo is actually just 21 and Jamie is 23. They've also been married for only 'bout a year) but I think they'll be just fine. They have great fam and friends to help them, including me and Jon. They also just got their offer accepted on a house so things seem to finally be going their way. For a while we were a little worried for them cause everything seemed to be going wrong. Kinda reminded me of when Jon and I 1st got married. Hell, pretty much was us till just recently, lol! I'm just so excited they they are smiling again and things seem to be going smooth. I love it when my friends are happy, makes me smile so much brighter. Kinda sounds a bit selfish, huh. Things 'round here just seem a bunch more pleasant lately. There have been a few low points, house has been a bit of a pain in a few spots, but all in all things have been going well. I just really hope they stay that way. Still there. Still purple, and now the funniest indentation all the way across. Hmmmm. Where is stinkingrose when I need her? It is January 14 and its is a freaking 70 degrees tonight! What the hell? Ummmm the 47 wish to move to Sante Fe. Could be interesting. If one had a job there. What I really need is to find me a nice doctor, one who will marry me. We could be blissfully happy for a few years, until he starts diddling a nurse and then I could divorce him for half. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Yeah, right, guess I better start looking for a job in Sante Fe! To ramble more, buy moonlight way from Wally world, it is 3 bucks and smells better than Moonlight Path by the bath people! peace out

I was given the short end of the stick, and I... well I took it - and I guess that means somethin'... Doesn't it? Things are getting a little rough nowadays, mainly from being lonely/alone. No one, as far as I know, lives near me, no Browncoats anyhow. Bad day, lovies. Just a bad day. Leave some...

It would appear that I can't win! I try to tell my parents that the classes I'm taking now are a waste of money because they're too easy, because they have assignments I already know how to do, and I get fussed at to "just stick it out." I then try to tell them that I can't handle the work, because it's endless hours of drills and quizes I already know how to do, and I get yelled at because a few days ago I said the classes were too easy, and they have suddenly become hopelessly hard(due to workload, not technically)! I just can't win can I?

I'm seeing better days, just as long as it's not a weekend! These past few school days haven't been that bad. They keep my mind busy. Maybe I can start drawing, reading, and writing on my breaks and posting my accomplishments here? Anyways, I got a couple nifty difty things in the mail - of them being a digital drawing pad. Now I can draw and not use a scanner to submit things. How 'bout them apples? I should be getting my 12" midi keyboard sometime soon, and when I get that, lovely fan-based Firefly for all my crew to enjoy - I hope. :D Other than those things, school is long and boring. Today (Thursday{) I go at abou 1440-2415... Gorram that stinks. Better days are when school starts at 1640 and ends about the same time. I got to stand watch on the ships quarter-deck today. Get to dress up all nice and protect the ship! About 4 of us stand on the quarter-deck doing different watches at once, but I get to tell everyone what to do, and authorize access to and from the ship... ;D Alright, I better go. Muster is at 0900... Grr. (Reason why we have to muster early now rather than sleep: Last weekend, we had a few people get drunk and irresponsible, of them being our section leader [who was on his duty day] and another shipmate who had duty and was also required to stand a watch, but didn't show up! Now we all got to pay by mustering at 0900 every morning to make sure we're all here... Pfff.) Till then...

I'm ever so poor and need desperately to raise money to travel this May. Not to mention eating for the rest of this spring. I cannot get a job because of my university stipulations and workload, so I have resorted to selling many of my things. I'm selling my shiny Tristan browncoat and several other Firefly-ish things on eBay. Please help me out! (Wash) Flight Coverall:

I bought the movie several months ago, but I made a little mistake. I bought the full screen copy, and I really wanted the wide screen version. I thought I could deal with it, but my film student eye demanded that I buy it in wide screen. I could see that several scenes were specifically designed for a picture that is 2.35x1 in dimension (letterbox style) as oppose to 4x3 (full screen dimension). So, I did. I have found someone to take the full screen copy, so it won't go to waste. Since the wide screen edition gives more detail, I noticed something interesting about the crate that River sits on. Its in the scene were the crew narrowly escapes the Reavers after the Lilac job. She sits on the crate, looks down at the dead Reaver, and says "He didn't lie down. They never lie down." THAT crate is actually specifically designed to carry lighting equipment. Probably Fresnel lamps(

Just a few things that Firefly has taught me: 1) Brown goes with everything so wear it proudly. 2) Jayne is not just a girl's name. 3) The small concealable weapon goes to the left of the place setting. 4) First we work then we play. 5) Always watch out for Reavers and Space Monkeys 6) Mercy is the mark of a great man.. well a good one...well he's alright. 7) When you can't run you crawl and when you can't do that you find someone to carry you. 8) We are objects in space. 9) No power in the 'Verse can stop me. 10) We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty. 11) Dinosaurs look great on the dash. 12) The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds given adequate vaccuming systems. 13)You can never have too many grenades. 14) Aim to misbehave. 15) The first rule of flying...Love is what keeps her in the air when she oughta fall, tells you she's hurtin 'fore she keens. Makes her a home. Just thought you'd all enjoy that maybe I'll add some more later. Any suggestions?

I thought this was funny. While trying to come up with ways of getting one of my friends to get Firefly, I figured out how to trick someone into putting movies into their Netflix Queue. Not exactly the most effective guerrilla warfare tactic (they can just take it right back out) but I still thought it was pretty cool that I could make people order Firefly. Anyway, if you want to see what I'm talking about click the below link: (This will only work if you have a Netflix account) (If you're not already logged in to your account, it will ask you to, and then the movies will be added)

Like the title says, it's been rocking. Got an awesome paying job out of nowhere (I put my resume and application in over 8 months ago), and it's within walking distance from my house....and apparently, the manager is a Firefly fan. Oh, and I got into the Uni course I wanted...barely, and I didn't think I would, but I just scraped in by .95 of a point. So. I have a brand spanking new job, and I'm going to Uni. The only bad part has been the 2 hour trek by train into Sydney for my induction, and the inch long gash that required a few stitches I have on my left hip. Oh well, them be the breaks. It's funny, I spend $340 doing my RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and RCG (Responsible Conduct of Gambling) and a 4 day bartending course so's I can work part time at a local pub, and I end up not needing it 'cause I got a job at an electronics store. My week rocked, I hope you have one soon too.

So, due to a hail storm a while back, the roof on my house needs repairing, and we figured we'd put gutter guards up to keep leaves and junk out of the gutters, so my father doesn't have to climb up on the very dangerous roof to clean them. Anyway, we have workers here who don't speak english fixing our roof. *sigh* It's very difficult for anyone to communicate with them, when they don't speak english. They backed their truck up near the house (to collect all the debris from the roof, which is all good) but they left the truck running, which left carbon mioxide into the house, through the garage. Even with the door closed, it started to come into the house. So, my grandmother, being the wonderful woman that she is, goes out and tries to tell them to turn the engine off. The guy says, "don't speak english". *sigh* so she takes his arm, and motions for him to turn the engine off...after about 5 minutes. He gets it. Now, i'm all for people finding work and such. I just find it frustrating when you're in a situation like that and you can't communicate. If I go to another country, i'm going to make sure i know at least some basic phrases or something. My mother can speak french, so I could go to France and have her translate. I want to go to another country. It would be so cool!

Hello everyone! I've just become a browncoat. I hope to meet as many others as I can. My favorite character is Zoe, because I'm a strong black woman and it's a very rare day when I come across another one. I think she's amazing and I love her relationship with Mal. Their mutal respect is so deep, so well portrayed. I just wrote a fanfic about it, and as soon as I finish editing it and posting it, please tell me what you think! Oh, and Firefly/Serenity would be nothing without Mal and Jayne. They keep me laughing no matter how many times I watch it! So, Much love to all of you Beauties out there! -SpaceKat06

Well I haven't really been here for the past week and I really missed talking to you guys. The reason I've been absent is partially because of school (ick :crap: ) and partially because on Tuesday, the World of Warcraft expantion (The Burning Crusade) was released. I didn't do a blog last week and I'm not sure if I'll be getting around to a blog every week simply because intering stuff doesn't always happen. Anyway here's all the notable stuff that has happened to me recently... 1. I descovered that our English teacher is the devil. She gave us an English/History project that is due on the 30th that is supposed to be based on "Everyday life in New France", but that's all she told us! Apparently she wants us to be more independant but none of us have any idea what we're supposed to be doing. That just kinda pissed me off. 2. I got the Firefly soundtrack!!! I am very excited about this one, I've listened to it about 50 times already it's just so amazing. I actually saw it while at HMV with my friend Signy and realized I had no money, I almost screamed but then she just suggested I hide it, and hide it I did. When I finally gathered the $30.00 I ran to pick it up. *does happy dance while listening to "River's Dance" off her soundtrack* 3. I was bored one day in class last week and started writing the sixth chapter of my fic (I'll have numbers 3, 4 and 5 up as soon as they're beta'd). I got REALLY into it and I'm telling you guys, it's a doosey. It's been a while since I posted the first 2 so I'll probably repost them. Keep in mind that I will be renaming the chapter "Captainy Things" because I've decided that that name is more fiitting for the third chapter, though I do not know yet what it should be called. Anybody who's read it is welcome to suggest a name. 4. I think my mom might think I'm a lesbian. I'm not against it in any way so don't get me wrong it's just that, y'know, I'm not. So that's kind of an awkward situation that I have no idea how to deal with. 5. In my last blog I said I'd explain more about the Luke situation so it goes something like this: Luke is a guy I've known for a long time because he went to my school. We didn't really start talking until I started hanging out with Rhys (few years ago) because he and Rhys are very good friends. Since we graduated Grade 6 we all had to move schools, most of my friends all went to the same school, Luke however went somewhere else. That somewhere else happens to be the school that my dad is VP of. All the teachers there are very close to my family (or family itself). Now my bass lessons tie in with all of this. The french teacher is something that never worked out at that school until this year. The new French teacher is a very cool guy who happens to play both guitar and bass. Basically, every Tuesday me and a couple of other kids from that school have lessons with him which is how I've been starting to hang out with Luke more. 6. The bass lessons have run into issues. Basically some of the kids I practice with annoy the hell out of the teacher so he's called it off. We've arranged some private lessons though since I don't annoy the hell out of him and he thinks I actually have alot of talent (which makes me extremely proud of myself). On an ending note, I just got off the phone with Rhys and Luke who are at Luke's house and god those guys are hilarious! Rhys almost got shot in the eye by Luke's BB Gun in the middle of our conversation. We just joked around and stuff and discovered a song called "Now You're A Man" by DVDA (a term you should not look up if you value your sanity), that song is ruttin' hilarious! So we laughed our asses off for about 3 hours and eventually hung up because I was tired (I'm going to bed right after this). I'm not sure why this last bit is relevant but I thought I'd share because it's fresh in my mind.

"... Not much to say. Life like yours, I fear you'd find mine terrible dull." Oh, I long for a little dullness. Truth to say, this whole trip is getting to be just a little too interesting. Really though. This weekend is proving to be a repeat of the worser ones. They say to us, "Now - we won't have muster at 0900 in the morning, so prove to us that you've earned that priveledge." So what to people go and do? That's right. Three ARI's (Alcohol Related Incident; one being two full bottles of Yeager being found in a shipmate's room), a giant hole in the wall cause by people wresting and falling into it (this makes the second that I know of). Can you believe that? After being scolded and talked to about being irresponsible and of being good men, people just blow that off and go do this. *sigh* Well, I hope I feel better today. I was planning on going to Chicago today, but WeatherChannel told me that there was an expected accumulation of about 1-2 inches of snow today... Huzza. I have to walk alot today. Anyways, thanks to those who read the mini-chapter in my little fanfic. I'll keep writing it, I suppose. Well, I think that's the jist of whining for today. Be well all.

Well that about sums it up. My life needs to change and I don't know how to go about changing it. Generic advice such as "Go to school" is absolutely useless to me. I don't know what I want to go to school for. I have no idea what I should do. Generic encouragement such as "You're so talented and you'll find something" is also useless. Nice, but useless. I might be talented, but I have yet to find something. Any career I feel drawn to is one of those careers that it's very difficult to break into. Frankly, I don't much like the idea of being a starving artist until I get a break. And even those artists who do get a break can still be starving because it doesn't always pay well and it can be a challenge to keep your head above water once you do break into your chosen field. The solution to this problem would be to study something practical. The idea of doing so makes my head hurt. Well, really the idea of going to school at all makes my head hurt. If it didn't take SO long and cost SO much money, I might feel more up to it. If school in gerneral wasn't such a grind for me, I might feel more up for it. If I could be sure that I would feel more fulfilled, I would definitely be up for it. But, since everything isn't different, I'm kind of stuck in Limbo, wondering what the guay I should do and how I've managed to be creative, smart, in my early twenties, and answering phones for a living :crap:

Yes, it is the title of my shorter (but completed) fanfic (the one I gave Summer and Alan at D*C last year), but it applies to my life as of this weekend. 4 pm Thursday - Go to work, covering a bartending shift for Crystal, hoping to make at least some decent cashy-money. 8 pm Thursday - Most tips all night, both tables and bar guests, have been weak tea. A young groups sits down at the bar, the guys order large Bud Lights, girl a Diet Coke. I go to get the frosted mugs for the beer and the first one slips out of my hand. My instant reaction is to catch it before it hits the others, while it's instant reaction is to hit the others and break one off in a very sharp configuration. I am instantly aware that I have been cut deeper than I can ever remember, so I apply pressure and hurry to the kitchen, where I almost black out. Amazingly wonderful co-worker takes me to ER, talks and jokes with me through it all, and even manages to take pictures and video on her phone while doc is stitching me up (I am hoping to get copies). Doc was cool too, goofy Scottish looking guy, knew his trade. As stitching was being done, I had my eye on the TV, which had been left on the Lifetime channel from the room's previous occupant. A movie was coming on, and who's name did I see in the credits but our own Jewel Staite! I had seen the movie before (I watched a lot of Lifetime with Ami, a lot). I went back to work, Heather had taken over bar but Crystal was coming back in. *sigh* I go home and zonk out. 5:30 am Friday - the Yeti is awakened by faithful pet PJ barking and goes to determine source of canine agitation (was sleeping in to take most of Friday off due to hurt finger). Opened the door, "James Spettel?" incomprehensible affirmative noise "We have a warrant for your arrest." I know that we have all heard the line countless times in movies and on TV, but let me assure you that it takes on a whole new context when it is being spoken to you. They let me get dressed and get my contacts in and get my wallet. During this time I asked what the warrant was for, and was told: Terroristic Threats and Acts (felony). I was cuffed and taken to various holding facilities until I could be transferred to the Laurens County Sheriff's Dept (once again). I got there in time to have a bologna sandwich. I was given a bond that day (they said it wouldn't be until Saturday morning), so I called my dad back and let him know. He came and got me right after dinner, which I didn't eat. We returned to Warner Robins, and ate at the Hooters here (the girls aren't as enticing as some of the other stores I have been in, but they have a Red, and I was in dire need of a beer and something fried and tossed in buffalo sauce). I spent Saturday relaxing and most of today in Atlanta, which I will document later, as it is late and I need rest for work tomorrow. I will be around my work e-mail, james dot spettel at robins dot af dot mil, but I might not be on the FFF or the 76th boards until I get off. If something doesn't actually kill me in the next 9 days I will be very surprised. One positive thing I pondered this weekend - if my life ever includes winning it big in a lottery, I have decided that in addition to taking everyone on a Browncoat cruise, I want to build a to-scale replica of our favorite Firefly-class transport. Wouldn't it be a fun place for a shindig?

So I did the blogger thing for a bit. Can't really see what all the fuss is about. Still, it was valuable experience that I can now pass on to my eager students. It's amazing how many people want to learn how to blog. Do I have anything witty or insightful to add to this particular blog? Nope. What I *do* have is a cute little game involving bunnies :D Enjoy!

Ok this is a ramble but I don't care. So here I was staying at one of my best friend's house for a sleepover. Before that for about 2 weeks she wouldn't shut up about this show Firefly, she tried to explain it to me but nothing helped. I have to see something before I decided if it's good or not. I asked her who she likeed, she said "Mal" obviously, and she said that I'd propably like Janye. I was liek who the hell is that, and then when we sat down to watch it, I saw Janye for the first time, and my jaw dropped!. He was amazing, the way he moved, looked, talked, his no care attitude and tough guy persona. He was awesome, and the show was too. So ya my first blog rant yay!.
Tuesday, 23 January 2007 04:06:13
I was recently in a Harbor Freight store (all kinds of fixety stuff). I bought a canteen,a canvas tote bag with lots of pockets and some other stuff. We were watching Jaynestown. I saw my canteen hanging behind Mal's right ear in the mudder bar. Could have died laughing. Today we were watching War Stories. Hubby said "Is that your bag?!" Rewind and slow advance and sure enough: the bag Zoe hands to the goons on Niska's space station is pretty much a dead ringer for the one I have. That just tickled me. I'll be watching for more of my stuff from now on. But if I see one of them in my bra I'll scream. :blush:JAYNE!! Give that back!

Big news. I quit my job to spend more time with the voices in my head. Yep, I am going to attempt to become a Proper Writer (as in paid cashy money) this year. Hopefully, the House Moving Saga is in its final throes. Then I will have my office/padded room. This also means that Cold Comfort Mountain shoud be finished soon - I have it drafted, but still being denied broadband, and unable to reach my machine for extended periods at home, posting it up is difficult. On the plus side, the mojo is working again after Xmas, and there are at least two (three?) more big story lines in the pipe-line. Although I will be working on a Completely Original Idea for the Book, I don't reckon on getting rid of those nice folks so easily (who do you think I am? Some gorram F*x exec?) Hope to be back on the boards soon. You hold, now, you hear?...

It is amazing how much of this white stuff that can come suddenly. We had a snow free Christmas here and everybody was thinking that global warming, that horrible monster most scary, had come to stay. But alas, winter came late but with a vengeance, it seems. It is not so bad though, January here is usually -20 C and thick slippery ice, so 20-30 cm snow and only a few degrees below zero ain't so bad. Its pretty too. And it gives everybody an excellent excuse for staying indoors and watching for example, this is only a random example from the top of my head  ... Firefly (again).

When writing a formal essay, it is important to remember one thing above all else. All sentences begin with capital letters and end with either question marks or PERIODS!!! Not commas, not semicolons, not dashes, not brackets, not random characters, and not mid-word. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!!! *sob*

Hey All As I wait like everyone else for the new eps of LOST to come on (although I am glad that the initial hype over it is over and people see that it is in fact a flawed show), my mind wanders. And usually when my mind is wandering, I listen to some Monty Python. Specifically bits from LIFE OF BRIAN, which is my favorite of the three Python movies. And one scene and minor character has planted in my mind what I think would be a really funny scene for LOST. Jack is in his cell, and hear something coming from the speaker. He comes in closer to hear the faint voice over it, until it finally become clear and this is what he hears. Voice: You lucky bastard. Jack: Whose there? (Looks around and sees across from him another cell with a man [Ben] hanging from some chains against a wall.) Ben: You lucky, lucky bastard. Jack: What? Ben: Quite the Others little pet, arn't you? Jack: The hell do you mean? Ben: You must have slipped them a few hundred buck, didn't you? Jack: Slipped him a few hundred? You saw them tie me up. Ben: Oh, what wouldn't I GIVE to be tied up. I sometimes stay awake all just dreaming about being tied up like a pig. Jack: Well it's not exactly friendly, isn't it. They had me gagged with a hood over my head. Ben: Gagged and with a hood!!! Ohhh, my idea of heaven, is to be allowed to be gagged with a hood over my head. Just for a few hours. They must think the sun shines out your ass, sonny. Jack: Oh fuck off, I've had a hard time. Ben: YOU HAD A HARD TIME! I'VE BEEN HERE FIVE YEARS!! THEY ONLY HUNG ME THE RIGHT WAY UP YESTERDAY!!! So don't you come around. Jack: All right, all right. Ben: They must think you're God all mighty. Jack: What'll they do to me? Ben: Oh probably just get away with brainwashing. Jack: BRAINWASHING!!! Ben: Yeah. First offense. Jack: Get away with brainwashing?!? That's- Ben: Best thing the Others did for us. Jack: WHAT!!! Ben: Oh if it wern't for brainwashing, this island would be in a right bloody mess. Jack: GUARD!!! Ben: CLEAN THEM OUT, I SAY!!! Jack: GUARD!!! Ben: PROGRAM SOME SENSE INTO THEM. (Some scuzzy looking Other comes in) Other: What do you want? Jack: I want you to move me to another cell. Other: Hah (spits in Jacks face) Ben: Oh, look at that. Bloody favoritism. Other: Shut up, you. Ben: Sorry. (Mr. Friendly comes in) Mr. Friendly: Henry wants to see you. Jack: Me? Mr. Friendly: Come on!!! Jack: What does he want to see me for? Mr. Friendly: I think he wants to know which way you want to be tortured. Ben: (laughs) Nice one, I like it. Mr. Friendly: Shut up!! Ben: Right. (everyone else leaves) Teriffic people, the Others. Bloody teriffic. And I know Henry Gale's real name is Ben and all that, but I don't care. Just thought it would be funny for there to be a chatty prisoner being held captive by the Others telling either Jack or Sawyer how good they had it.

ive already put up the first part of episode 2 and the 2nd part is in production my thoughts for epesode 3 are to jump in time slightly from finishing the Job (if you cast your mind or double check part 1 of the wreck you will see the job stated by Mal as transporting a theartre group) to arriving on phersphone (spelt it wrong but to lazy to look up actual spelling) and will involve Badger and the unwelcome return of Sir Atherton Wing

Hi there, I had my exam on the Jarrow Crusade today. I have no clue how it went and I am not one to speculate but the questions were fair and not completely impossible. I did the documentary commentary on the statue outside Morrison's in Jarrow and the two questions on health in the 1930s and the role of the Labour party in the promotion of the legend of the crusade. I now have five and a bit days off so I plan to spend them doing as little as possible. I've just started a knitting pattern. I'm attempting a teddy. I might be going to Sunderland tomorrow to see a play at the University. My firend Bobby invited me and I can't actually remember what it's about but it sounded interesting at the time. It's been a long while since I got around to updating this. So, I'll give you a bit of a run down on what's been happening since I gave you that Yuletide smear. First of all, I got a nasty case of food poisoning on Boxing Day. Have you ever vomited so hard, and with such frequency that the capillaries at the corners of your eyes exploded? Yeah. It wasn't pretty. Especially considering that I hate to vomit. Seriously, I can't possibly concieve of how those bulemics do it to themselves all the time! Second, my meds have been ramped up, although to no great effect. Yeah, that's all manner of unnerving, the fact that I've doubled the meds and there's no effect at all. Lovely. Now, how about we start dealing with that 'early psychosis' they'd dropped on me? Bah. Thirdly, I'm back in my apartment, back in school, and completely out of money. Seriously. Rent is soon going to be a problem... Let this be a lesson to you aspiring students out there to make sure your student loan in, and don't let any of the red tape strangle you. And, it's a warning to the Student Loan people... If you screw with me again, you shall reap a dread vengeance the likes of which no government association has ever endured since the fall of the Roman Empire, a dire harvest of such proportions that it shall be spoken of in a hundred years in stories to scare small children! Anyhoo... I'm finally back to writing again, and I'll be getting the latest episode done any day now. Strangely enough, this is the first time that I'll have written an entire episode that doesn't star the Legacy crew at all. Well, that's not entirely true, because it does have a lot of Monday in it, but that's not the point. It's good to be back doing what I enjoy. It's just that I had a major case of 'literary constipation' since Achilles was born. Lack of time, addiction to Black And White, the hell of getting back to school... You know, all the classic excuses. Just a bit more, and I'll have the set up for a whole lot down and set. Yay! Now, go away! Surely you have better things to do than to read my Blog. Like reading Legacy! Yes... Reading Legacy. No, seriously. Go. Read Legacy. It's in the Blue Sun Room. GO NOW!

title is yet to appearin a flash of inspiration in my mind however - i can say that there will be either death via be heading - poison dart or having every bone in the body broken one after the other (only one of the above will appear in th 3rd episode and even i don't know which one yet) i'm going to try to use chinese words other than swearwords from now on - because i think its just crass to use them in place of swearwords

YAY second half of senior year has started. Yea, I'm excited, and scared at the same time. I mean I'll be leaving most of the people I call friends behind. Thats frightening, I mean I'm sure I'll keep the close ones, and make more but still, I love the kooky people I hang with. Senior trip is under development at the current time. Going to the Wisconsin Dells for those who know it (think giant town with a bunch of theme parks, water parks, and a bunch of other things to do for those who don't know what it is.) So yea we should be staying at a waterpark/hotel, then catching a ride to a theme park. Go to a comedian show, bumper cars, good eating, bunch of good stuff come May. Only bad thing is it's mother's day weekend so we can only stay for one night, which sucks the big monkey. I also have been trying to work out a little in order to lose my boobies . Well thats it for now.

so, this is the part where i explain that i have this WONDERFUL (imo) idea for a wallpaper that i would really like ot make.... ...but alas, the most sophisticated program i have at my disposal is paint. i could go ahead and make it anyway, i've done it before (yes, in paint!) but there are countless of you here who could do a MUCH better job then me (ie, something other then just pictures on a page), so next is the part where i pitch the idea and try to get someone interested enough to make it. alright, this requires a small amount of background info, i'll try to keep it short. i've been making my way through the buffyverse after checking disk 4 of firefly for the thousandth time just to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that there defanitly aren't any more eps. So i get to the end of season 6, and that thing happens... you know, the really horrible one that's just the worst thing ever. so anyway, i'm in a state of mourning similer to when wash croaked, and the two deaths struck me as such similer things... i mean, both were situations where just when you thought you were in the clear, bam, look what happens, utterly randomly and for no apparent reason. heartwrenching. SO, i really wanted a wash/tara wallpaper (especially cause i've had such trouble finding buffy backgrounds w/ tara! everythings always about oz, whats up with that?), and this idea kinda formulated itself: Here's what i've got for design thoughts: it'd be split in two horizontally, with some line or another seperating them. i dont really know what; first it was gonna be 'very bad deaths', but unless you've read the spider robinson book by that title, its pretty random, and even if you have, it doesnt REALLY apply. so then i was thinking 'horrible, gut-wrenching deaths that never should have happened and make you want to throw things', but that seemed excessively long. so i dunno, maybe you have some brilliant idea. doesnt really matter which is on top/bottom, but on the left middle and right middle (again, unimportant which is which) you have willow and zoe, looking sad. for the tara half, the main part is her face doing that smaile; y'know, the signature one that kinda creeps up, where her mouth gets all wide and her eyes are all sparkly and- *ahem* no, i am NOT inching closer to insane fanboy status... well, maybe a little. anyway, for wash, i was thinking one of his 'flying' faces; "its ok! its ok..." w/ that weird intense look he gets. and then some kind of cool background (this is the part where i cant do it myself; i could put the pictures there, but thats about it), and maybe a smallish quote for each. so, yeah, thats my thoughts, if i've inspired anyone to go make it, i'd be much obliged. if not, oh well.

Hi there, Last Night was fun. Yhe thing at the University was ok, it was a bit confusing and the bloke's accent was hard to understand. After that me, John and Andrew decided to go out and celebrate our firend Al's birthday even though he is in Leeds and his birthday isn't until Thursday. First we went to the Chinese Buffet and then when we were going to go to the bus station we ran into Bobby and his friends so we ended up in a club. I didn't think that i would spend the night singing and dancing to Paradise City and Since You've Been Gone with a woman I had only just met. Even Andrew was dancing to the Scissor Sisters. Oh, it's started again. I thought I had freed myself of it, but I just had to come back. Yes ladies and gents... I am playing Final Fantasy XI again. :disappointed: I stopped playing for quite a while cause of the new house. Then Jon and I decided that paying $30 a month for both of us to play was getting a bit too much, so I deleted my PC character 'Kaylei'. Now the pull of the game has just become too great. I used to play on the XBox 360 back when the beta was going and Jon still has my old character, 'Kylynn'.

I'm wondering if anyone is actually going to read this, but I'll write stuff anyway. I've never been very into blogging. Whatev. I just got my friend obsessed with Firefly yesterday, and I'm really excited about it. We watched Serenity, then I found this website (www.tv-links.co.uk) where you can watch Firefly for free, which is awesomely cool, so we watched 4 episodes. I don't own it on DVD yet (I know, total crap. But I'm 14 and broke, and my parents won't buy it for me!) so if you're like me and cannot live 2 hours without watching it, I recommend checking out that site.... My other friend, who got me obsessed, is painting the Serenity in art class, and I have to say, it's awesome! I'm going to start a drawing because I refuse to be outdone. LOL. Hey, Firefly boxed DVD set is #22 on best selling DVDs on barnesandnoble.com!!!

Yeah I know this is probably one of the dumbest things to blog about, but hey, I'm doing it anyway! a week ago the keyboard to my laptop started dying, so I bought a new one(a new keyboard, not a new laptop, that'd be too expensive). As you can probably tell, this one is working fine. Now I can post more often! YAY ME! Yup, it's a short one this time, I guess this wasn't one of the most important things in my life to write about.

ok I been watching Adam Baldwin. I was about 4 I saw him in Independence Day, then Firefly when I was 11 so it been 11 years I been watching him that's sooo cool lol.

And that's the truth. Iraq is windy and cold. Windy to the point of distraction. You open a door (If you can get it open, that is) and it takes your breath away. Since I work the night shift here (That's 12 hrs, 6 days a week) it's usually freezing too. During the day it's not so bad. And, I miss all my acquaintances. Here and there, in real life and internet. Lissa and KOL and Cozen and CMS and Ath and LMD and Mai and EVERYONE! (So don't bug out if you didn't make the list) Of course, I miss TWG the most. She's weird, but, in a superheroine kind of way! (Weird in a "I wonder what she's going to do next, cause it's all so wonderful" kind of weird) And, my children. But, I always miss them. They're such good kids. Pray for them. I've managed to make 4 converts while I've been here. People who devoured the show and movie quickly and are now sad that there's no more. One even said that Battlestar Galactica would be better if they spoke Chinese in it. We have a huge amount of TV shows/movies on our network here. We call it Moralenet...And guess which complete series and it's follow up film are on there? Star Trek! That's right. No, Firefly and Serenity are there...which means that someone put it on there because someone requested it. Joss Lives!

I bought Finding Serenity: Anti-heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly. I have read a few of the essays, and they are very interesting perspectives on Firefly. They are really interesting because the essays were written before the release of Serenity. I would recommend the book to any Firefly fan.

I just can't take it anymore! My Document Processing course is FREAKING killing me! I've put in nearly five hours a day for a week and a half(after doing two or three hours a day for a week and a half) and I'm getting nowhere! This class must DIE!!! I once again tried to explain this to my parents who aren't taking the course so, naturally have NO CLUE what they're talking about, and they once again blew up at me questioning how hard I've been working! I however am questioning why I'm taking a course that has no baring on my current certificate! Thanks for letting me vent. JOSSISAGOD

My muse has obviously taken a vacation somewhere warm and sunny without me. I itch to be doing more than I have been. Even though I've been doing something with Photoshop on a pretty regular basis, it hasn't been keeping me busy on my long nights off. If anyone has a banner or avatar they want made or edited, let me know. If anyone has a Firefly theme they want to see made into art, let me know. If anyone has a favorite song they want made into art, let me know (this one is tricky; I can't always do it) Anything else anyone needs edited, cleaned up, made, whatever... I need stuff to do.

here it is done in compleat secrecy - me and my team of higly talented kidnapped science fiction writers are working on the 4th and dare i say it most magnificent episode to date. it is so secret that even i who wrote (well dictated to a scriptwriter who was tied to his desk by heis beard) am not allowed to know what happens in the final chapter (which has made writing it so challenging. however for you faithful fans who have enjoyed my fan fic sereis and the majority of you - i can divulge that it is a crossover but have refused to state of what.

So, my teacher for my english class didn't show up today. -_- That's so rude. That's one of my pet peevees. I hate being late and I especially hate being kept waiting. Even more so when I don't like it when my teachers are late because i'm paying for the class. We waited for him to show up and he didn't. There's a rule, 15 minutes, if the teacher doesn't show up, you're allowed to leave without getting into trouble. So me and a bunch of other kids left. Now, if this was the first time this happened, it woudln't be such a big deal, but it's not. He's been late before and it's begining to get annoying. I get there early to be early for class, and he doesn't show up. I don't reall mind missing the class. I learned all the stuff in high school, so i don't have to worry too much. It just still bothers me. This is kinda sad that all i do complain on this thing. If something good comes up, i'll mention it. Right now my life is pretty dull.

Okay, so today I managed to add the grand total of two animations to the blue sun room  Ahhh, the joys of being back in the animation game... oh how I missed it! I also went a little crazy the other night and created a bunch of 70x70pix avatars. Not animated, just simple images I thought would be handy for posters who want an avatar with a difference. They're probably pretty similar to ones that have been used before, but they're still nice and small while being large enough to show a clear image. All of these can now be found on the avatars page on my site. There's a link from the home page - www.desktophippie.com - in the recent news section on the right. The avatars are free for all to use. Enjoy, my browncoated friends!

Sorry, I seem to have let time get away from me. The thumbnail is, went back to work while still ill, so was crashing when I got home. When I felt better, finished my Christmas shopping; did Christmas with my brother, s-i-l and nephew; went shopping for stuff the folks needed that wasn't available at the stores up there; went up to do Christmas with the folks for a few days, was back home less than a day and went to Confusion (as I'd bought my membership months ago and had a cheap place to stay for it...and got to be an additional chaperone for 4 teens to it.) *whew* So, we do have some hopeful news on the Mom Front. She was finally stable enough for the hour+ ride to a different oncologist. He told them that the chemo & radiation the hospital tried to get her to do last November wouldn't have worked for her type of cancer (endometrial). What does work? Hormone therapy. So, they started that. Within 2 days Mom was peppy, had an appetite, and the pain and nausea went way down. By the time I was able to head up there about a week later, she was fairly bouncing off the walls. She looks considerably better and is interested in everything again. Which is a miracle from where I standing 'cause I seriously thought she wouldn't make it this long the way she looked in mid-December. Thanks for all the prayers & good thoughts, 'Coats! *happy hugs to all* I'm currently trying to clean up the pigsty I call my apartment and am out bookshelf shopping (an everyday thing.) I need to replace virtually every shelf I have with something taller so I can get some of the stacks of boxes of books out of my way. I tried to spring clean 2 years ago. I'm still hopeful I can get to it. Sad, innit? So...I still won't be here regularly, but hopefully more often than I was this month.

Finally, Cold Comfort Mountain is posted. And the SpaceAnJL will never ever start a fic without having a COMPLETE OUTLINE drafted again. Ever. Ever ever. Of course, this means I have to make good on the other stuff I've hinted at. But it will keep my mind off the house thing. As in "What do you mean, the sewers are not connected up to the main sewers...?" So...I have two working days left in cheese-hell, and then I am officially a Struggling Writer. Still, I can't quite make up my mind which one to write up first - the crossover or Zen II. I'm not sure I can actually pull the crossover off - but if I put enough semi-naked Jayne in peril in it, will anyone care? I could put fully naked Jayne in it, but then - plot-what-lost-huh-drool...sorry. You see my problem. Basically, you can't stop the 'AnJL. Unless you have lawyers. PS if site goes down again, I have a posting over on Fanfiction.net, which has an e-mail link. So, StinkingRose, you wanna chew the fat some time, drop right on in. (I found a cream of garlic soup recipe you might like...)

Hi there, I had my first dissertation seminar today. The hardest part was finding the room. The Armstrong building is the most confusing place I have ever been in, it's like a maze. I had to go through the Business school to get to the Classics department. Who the hell puts the business school next to the classics? I bought a laptop today so I can keep all my dissertation work together. It cost a hell of a lot of money but that's what student loans are for. My mam and dad are going to Barcelona next week. Maybe that'll stop my mother on her quest to completely destroy the bathroom. I mean she already broke the glass in the cabinet and now she's pulled the blinds off the wall. My birthday was fun. Me, John and Andrew went out in Durham. We started out a one of the Chinese buffets (not the one we usually go to cos that's got horrendously expensive), then we went to Yate's bar and then to Wetherspoons. I'm actually glad I went home earlier than John and Andrew because they ended up missing the last bus home and Andrew wanted to strangle John cos he was so drunk. TTFN Jennifer -x-

I can't believe it. He did it again. According to one of the kids in my class. She ran into the teacher after we all left (this was when there was only about 10 minutes left in the class)and she told the teacher that everyone waited but since he didn't show, everyone left. He said, yeah. I figured as much and he said, well, there's no point to go now. She said he just went to go get food. *sigh* So, we all show up early for class, as usual, thinking that he'll want to cram as much classtime out of us. So we wait...15 minutes. No one. One kid leaves. 20 minutes. The teacher's still not here. 25 minutes. Nothing. So the rest of the class leaves. I don't mind missing too much class, because everything this teacher is "teaching" us, I learn in high school. So it's not like I'll fail the class. But i don't like people wasting my time. If that happens again, the class agreed, we're going to take it to the department head. We're not going to pay for a class where the teacher doesn't show. This is just crazy.

Yeah, that weekly Blog thing did not work out so well. Interesting stuff doesn't happen that frequently and I eventually started putting in soem completely irrelevant stuff. Oh well I just wanted to try it out. I will still Blog though, when it's appropriate. Yesterday evening I finally got a massage and it was amazing! My back feels 100% better. The lady who was doing the massage also gave me some stretches to do in the morning to help. I initially went in thinking it would be a chance to think about stuff, which was a huge mistake. All I do all day is think, sometimes I'm even multi-thinking! About 15 minutes in to the massage I realized this (after I got over the "holy crap I'm in Inara's shuttle" feeling". It was the most relaxing thing I've ever done, I actually thought about nothing at all, simply listened to the music and enjoyed myself.
