"You are Captain Malcolm Reynolds, aka. Mal or Captain Tightpants. You saw most of your men die in a war you lost and now you seek solitude with a small crew that you are fiercely devoted to. You have no problems being naked." hmm....

Saw the Rolling Stones on Tuesday. Awesome. Jagger ran about for two hours solid - my friend and I have a combined age that just about matches his, and we were knackered after dancing for two songs. I love that rock stuff - keep your Beyonce B*ll*cks and that MoBo S***. R&B is folks like Howlin' Wolf, not some skinny little dipsh*t that can't hit a note without warbling round the scale trying to find it. So I've had a refreshing few days off, and now I'm revving up for the next chapters. There may actually be something resembling a plot. Possibly proper science fiction. Been reading Neal Asher again - things could go...odd. On another point - I pm'd a writer whose work on this site I admire. Perhaps it was a little presumptuous of me, but I had hoped for some feedback. Just being ignored sucks.

I remember the first broadcast of MTV. The gang of friends that I hung with all met in the bottom floor family room of one of our friends and we lay there transfxed as we learned that Video killed the Radio Star, that Bow Wow Wow wanted Candy and heard Adam Ant order us to Stand and Deliver. The videos were raw and rather cheesey, but it was exciting none the less. I watched the VMA's last night with #2. MTV is boring. Its trite, it is as Rock and Roll as the Church Bingo league of old blue haired ladies. I miss my MTV.

Life has been s..l..o..w lately. No school anymore, and I got no one to hug! I need a car. The big day is next month, and I hope I'll be missed, or else I'll just have a mess of sadness all to myself. Been working on the comics for you all to remember me by, and a FIC is soon on the way.. Hopefully.

I really want one, but they sold out pretty quick. Anybody got any links for on-line stores that might still have them available in small??? I did get a totally rocking Wonder Woman t-shirt instead..Has anybody heard "Mal's Song" by Escape Key. the singer has a beautiful clear voice and the lyrics (using the theme song as the chorus) are wonderfully apt and evocative. Check it out

Hey All This is my second birthday blog I've written for this site. Today, I turn 21. I am now officially old enough to do whatever I want. And so far, I've done this to cap off my summer. 1. Woke Up 2. Had two pancakes for breakfast 3. Said goodbye to Mom and Dad 4. Stopped in town to have quick visit with grandparents and visiting uncle. 5. Drove back to Regina. 6. Dropped stuff off at house, saw that the street construction going on has made progress. Will be smooth in about two weeks. 7. Went in for final weigh in at Herbal Magic. Comfortable with my body, so don't really care about weight. 8. Went for much needed haircut. 9. Went on birthday shopping spree. Bought hair gel, special editions of V FOR VENDETTA, NETWORK and MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO. Tried to find season 3 of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT all around the city, but only found it at Best Buy, where it was available only in a series pack. Already have seasons 1 and 2. Also bought new clothes for school and $50 iTunes Music Card. 10. After driving around, bought comics at comic shop. 11. Picked up my brother and went to see CARS at the Rainbow. 12. Dropped Matt off and drove out to Qu'Appelle Valley to favorite spot. 13. Laid out blanket, stripped to boxers and laid down on blacnket. Tried to read this book Dad gave me called THE POWER OF NOW. Had read first chapter already, so mind kinda wandered. 14. Decided what the hell and took boxers off. This so far has been the highlight of my day. I gotta tell ya, folks. Being naked out in the prairies with no one around is an exhilarating feeling. Even when I was looking out over the valley and the highway below, I felt no shame. Y'all should tey this. If the weather is nice, go out to an isolated spot in nature on your birthday and try out your birthday suit. It's a liberating experience, especially after a long suymmer where you've done nothing but work in the sun and drive. 15. Drove back, got some pizza, filled the car up with gas (which is now for the first time in a long time below a buck a liter) and washed the car. 16. Went home, bought three albums (Christina Aguilera's BACK TO BASICS, Bob Dylan's MODERN TIMES and Russel Peters' OUTSOURCED which is a comedy album) and some singles and videos off the iTunes Music Store. And I'm still not done. Right now, I'm gonna go see the Clio's at the RPL, and then meet up with a buddy at the bar at the college for drinks and pool. If he actually does show up (he has to be at a Riders game today), then it'll be a pretty good birthday. Also, I discovered that not only do I share a birthday with Keanu "Ted/Neo" Reeves, Salma "Serendipity" Hayek and Aimee "Wisely opted out of her family reality show" Osbourne, but also one of my favorite former LOST cast members Cynthia "Libby" Watros. I was so pissed that she was killed off. Not only one of my favorite characters, but now Hurley has lost all hope of getting laid on the island. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Peace Will update later.

Apparently I am cat and I don't care about anything...wow...I'm really not sure what to say about this one... What Animal Are You? RESULT: Cat A cat’s M.O. is simple: they just don’t care. Seriously, the house could be burning down, and a cat won’t get up till it’s finished licking its paws, and even then, it’s not really in a hurry to get anywhere. Being a cat, you’re cool and refined, and you’ve got plenty of that cat attitude. Okay, fine, we’ll say it – cattitude. Just be careful not to fall into any huge open vats of water. Cats don’t like that sort of thing.

I've been e-mailing Oprah about a great show idea. I'd like to see Joss Whedon on Oprah talking about the Browncoats and all of the charities that we support like Equality Now I think it would be a great way to reach others that are not in the Sci Fi loop. If you've got any ideas, send me a wave.

Hey all. Long time no... anything. I'm settling in at my new place, but job opportunities have been limited. As a result, I'm toying with the idea of opening my own portrait studio for commission work. A slightly terrifying prospect, but infinitely more palatable than retail drudge work. I'm old and set in my ways, and I don't take orders well. This way I can be my own boss and make a living doing something I actually like. Also, I finally got around to opening a Live Journal. You can check out my ramblings and progress reports here:-

Greetings, all. First off, let me say that the portion of DragonCon I attended was the most fun I've had in a long, long time. I finally met face-to-face with several Browncoats I have only known as typed words. It was wonderful! The parade was a evry shiny experience...marching along with the other Browncoats, singing (to the musical stylings of...I wish I could remember his name!) The Ballad of Serenity and Hero of Canton...much fun was had. Unfortunately, I had to leave early in order to deal with a family emergency...this is the message I gave to Serenity when I called her right before the Shindig. The family emergency, it turns out, was very close to home. The wife and I will be divorcing. This does not come as a real shock to me, as we have been limping along for more than six months now. I won't get into too many details, but she has decided that she needs to be alone or awhile, and I concur whole-heartedly. I hold her no ill feelings, and want her to be happy...this apparently means not being married to me. Along with making her happy, this will also make me happy, so all manner of things will be well. The bad thing about all of this is that it destroyed the rest of my DragonCon...I missed the Shindig, I missed the Browncoat costume contest, I missed the chance to meet the rest of the Browncoats at DragonCon. That pissed me off. I know there may be a time in the future when we can do this all over again (next year!!), but I was looking forward to a few more days of fun and happiness. If I was seemingly cold or rude to anyone I met this weekend, I apologize...not knowing what's really going on in your marriage will ocassionally make one act distant. I am happy to have met all of the people I did; again, I just wish I had met all of you. In a nutshell, I will be on and off the boards while this thing is sorted out. But, hey, in 30-some-odd days, I will join the ranks of the single Browncoats! I may have to ressurect one of those old dating threads! I did manage to get a few group shots of the Browncoats before the parade...I'll try to post those, along with my brief experience, in the close future. Thank you all for being here, and for sharing my love.

The inside of the Firefly is quiet and cold, dim lights everywhere. Like the twilight, it's light but still you can't see all that well. A low Humming of the engine can be heard through the hulls of the ship. A scream comes from the passengers quarters. A scream so loud that it wakes the entire crew. River is in the floor by the bunk hands to her head rocking back and forth talking to herself. "Not dead, it's all a dream. Has to be a dream. Their not dead." Simon comes running in her room. "Mei Mei, what happened? who's not dead?" River looks up at him with the look of saddness in her eye's as she says, "Wash and the preacher man. Their dead... In here." As she points to her head with her finger. Simon comforts her in his arms and says. "Their not dead. Wash is right there, see." as he points to her doorway where the others are at as Mal comes up pushing the others out of the way. "Jien tah-duh guay is going on here Doc? I can't sleep well at night when your ruttin sister is scaring the hell out of my crew. If Wash was dead we all be dead becuase he's the one flying this thing... Right Wash...? Wash?" Mal looks over to see Wash standing there with his head down. "Well, Mal, I was, uhm in my bunk with Zoe when River made me go alittle earlier than I plained to. Sorry Capt. I just want to know why I'm dead?" Jayne looks at him and says. "Well at least your not alone. Book is there with you." Wash looks at Jayne. "Gezz that makes it all better doesn it. Why can't Jayne be dead to. Oh, that's right he's the town hero." Jayne looks at Wash and says, "Like I said before, that was not my fault." Mal looks around at everyone and says, "Alrighty then, if you don't mind we have a job to do in a few hours, so if you could please control your sister so we can get some sleep, because some of use get alittle crotchety when we'er tired. Doma?" River looks around and grabs her head and starts to talk again. "Reavers, Alliance, Miranda." She turns her head quickly to Mal. "Reavers, They didn't lie down. They will come if they go." Mal looks at Simon. " What in the hell is she babbling about there doc?" simon looks at Mal, then to river. " I'm not sure Capt." Mal looks over at Zoe that is by Wash holding his hand. "This is a little more than we need to know right now." Zoe looks at Mal. "Do you think sir. She said that my husband was dead. That kind of concerns me sir." (So tell me what you think.)

Yes, that's right I purchased the Firefly Official Visual Companion (Volume 1) today at Borders. It is most amazing. Has grand pics and interviews and backstories and scripts. I am enthralled. I cannot wait til the second volume comes out in the spring. Just adding away to my Firefly collection. I also go the newest editions of Lord of the Rings. Much joy there as well. Be watching the extra features for a while now. My old roommate came back for a visit bringing with her, Angel. It's amazing. She is really the one who got me turned onto Joss with her obsession with Buffy. Then she left and I got into Firefly and she got Angel. So Angel is nice. She is now into Firefly. And we are all very happy. Happy with Jossness. However, Gina in season four of Angel really, really creaps me out a hecka lot. *shudder* I will now include a list of Firefly items I own, to be followed by a picture at some point. Firefly DVDs Serenity DVD Done the Impossible DVD Done the Impossible soundtrack Firefly soundtrack Serenity soundtrack Finding Serenity Serenity novelization Serenity Visual Companion Firefly Visual Companion vol. 1 Serenity comic book novel Serenity comic #1 Mal Serenity poster brown Serenity shirt orange Jayne 'fighting elves' shirt tan 'Wash lives' shirt brown 'Browncoats done the impossible' shirt brown Firefly shirt Jayne hat Browncoat- Tristan style leather riding boots flight suit Browncoat patch LYNDONO patch (Wash, BDM) combined forces patch (Wash, BDM) wrist cuff Hawaiian shirts Things I really want include a vest like Zoe's and a pistol and leg holster. Anyone know where I can get ahold of a vest like Zoe's? Thanks for reading. Thanks for commenting. (best do it)

We all have them. Ones that just don't stay were they should be. What is up with that? I need new ones. Should I just stay away from thongs? Maybe I'll just start wearing boxers. Although they probably won't be very flattering when it comes to my ass...But who gives a sh*t anyway, right?

I would have called earlier, but I got distracted by my studies. It's a bit of computerese that not too many people know, or care, or stop a minute to understand, at least on a basic level. A typical baby boomer might say-"Oh, all the young generation is into it, because only they can understand it." Ah, well...No. People think the players and creaters are the same. The same baby boomers are the ones who made this possible. Eh. Just had a little rant. I had to sit by some guy who went on about the internet, porn, and video games (the last of which he says he plays). He mentioned something about a generation gap. Can't be much of a gap if he's doing everything a 15 year old would do. My two cents...

Woke up, went to check my e-mail and all and found this.
Monday, 04 September 2006 17:47:23
There may be a short delay between postings - tomorrow I am going to attempt to update my hamster-box for something with a broadband connection. It is taking soooo long to load at home that I can't stay in touch with folks. I am also finding that my e-mail notification and such is not happening. :crap: Whether that is my machine or the site, I don't know. But...apologies to folks for the delays. I have a plot - and it's mine, I tell you, all mine. I'm finding so many coincidences out there, that I'm gonna get me a little tin-foil hat, stop them readin' my thoughts. What can I say? Paranoia just means that you haven't caught them watching you yet.

This morning, after almost two years of patronage to this site, I did an incredibly stupid thing. I made fun of the death of Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter. A combination of early morning drowsiness, a black sense of humor and not being too big a fan of The Crocodile Hunter made me say that his death was mildly funny. I now realize that it wasn't. It was a stupid, pointless death that has robbed the world of probably the most famous nature expert in the world today. It was a blunder of Mel Gibson-like proportions, and I am deeply sorry for it. The ironic thing is that now that the summer's over, I've actually began work last night on the long overdue Chapter 10 of YOU CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN. And I'd hate to be banished from a site I religiously check over a momentary lapse into troll behaviour. I've come too far in my story to just forget about it. I have to get it out of me. I hope that you folks will forgive me for my trollish behaviour and allow me to post future chapters of my story here. And to whoever runs the site, could you please take down the blog in discussion? I've tried to delete it a number of times, and it won't go away.

Oh dear, oh dear. Oh me oh my, how the time does fly by... So apparently I've been lurking for the past few months, and it seemed high time to at least drop by and say ni hao to all the shiny Browncoats (still the prettiest fans in all the 'verse, I'm sure.) Anyhoo, I've been busy with being in love with a wonderful lovely girl, which tends to cut back on my free time a tad. (I know, I know... :vomit: but I had to say it :) On the plus side, though, I've had no trouble at all converting her to the 'verse. (I've found Serenity makes for a rather reliable date movie.) And how shiny is this? My b-day present from her this year was a nifty Serenity Zippo lighter :P What else... well, I'm pleased to report another few converts to the cause. My strategy of planting little seeds of interest in my friends has been paying off finally. Took alot of waiting, and trying very hard not to be too pushy, but I've finally got all of them hooked on the show. Most now have their own box sets, and I've even got my little sister hooked lately. She was actually a hard sell, really. She goes for the reality shows, and the Lifetime network, etc. Not too much into Sci-fi. But she ended up getting stuck with us watching a few shows, and the next thing we knew she'd fallen in love with the characters, and couldn't wait to watch another episode to see what would happen to them next! Okay, so... apparently while I've been gone for some time, I still haven't lost my knack for going off on tangents... Oh well, that's why I figured I'd write out a log entry instead of trying to thread-jack the boards with all this :P Stay shiny, all you lovely 'coats, and keep up the good work. Here's one grunt that's still in for the long haul. Proud to be a Browncoat, and it's been an honor and a priviledge to hold the line with such shiny people as all of you :P

As I haven't found a 'favorites' function yet, I expect that this blog will primarily consist of fanfics I loved from this site. They'll be listed as follows: Title Author Pairing Length, chapters Link This is so I don't clog up my del.icio.us account with a hundred firefly fanfics; I can just mark the site fff.net. :smokin:

Just dropped off two new stories I've been working on. Continuations of the first story. Two more to follow, but I don't want to be rude about posting too much at one time. Thanks for the feedback I've been getting. Ratings are ego-boosting but unecessary. I like hearing what people do like, and what they don't. It's kind of a shock to realize that over 300 people (not one of them being my mother) have read something I've done and I haven't gotten any really harsh criticism yet. The plot's getting a little thicker, and I'm trying to develop *my* view of what's likely to happen in the 'verse. I've got some Ideas for pulling Inara back into the story line, but not quite sure what I'll do with it.

Ok I don't like carrie underwood. Shes kind of uber religous..... but this song of hers rules... I love it! lol so here it is!!! "Before He Cheats" Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleach blonde tramp, and she's probably getting frisky... right now, he's probably buying her some fruity little drink cause she can't shoot whiskey... Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick, showing her how to shoot a combo... And he don't know... That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seat... I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires... And maybe next time he'll think before he cheats. Right now, she's probably up singing some white-trash version of Shania karoke.. Right now, she's probably saying "I'm drunk" and he's a thinking that he's gonna get lucky, Right now, he's probably dabbing on 3 dollars worth of that bathroom polo... And he don't know... That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seat, I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires... And maybe next time he'll think before he cheats. I might saved a little trouble for the next girl, Cause the next time that he cheats... Oh, you know it won't be on me! Ohh... not on me... Cause I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seat... I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires... Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats. Ohh.. Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats... Ohh... before he cheats...

I got the bowie knife after it was on back order for three months. Now onto the rest of the costume! The gunbelt and sheath from Griffin is my next destination. Along with maybe his boots and pants soon enough, so I can have at least a rudimentary costume.

Well, I'm 3 chapters into my original work of fiction. Apparently my muse is much better for that than it is for Cruel Summer. Sorry again to all those looking for the next chapter, I'll keep trying to write it and update! In the meantime, if anyone feels like reading a piece of original action/adventure fiction, have a look here:

It's the first day of class and I'm pretty excited. I need slightly more structure in my life than I've had the past few weeks. The summary: -I felt like an idiot in Vietnamese because I haven't looked at the language since May -My oncology class is going to be amazing and interesting -Vietnam Wars is going to be interesting, intense, and probably depressing -I have Immunology tomorrow. Hopefully it goes well.

I'm in S4 of my discovery of the Buffy 'verse, so what I say now is subject to change. This entire premise is founded on the events in J.R.R. Tolkien's world as being a prerequisite to 'our' world in which Buffy and the Scoobs inhabitted. The Quendi( Elves) have, of course, all gone. But we know that there were times when men and elves mingled together, and produced offspring. (Beren and Luthien, Aragorn and Arwen ) As time marched on, and the Quendi left our world, there remained faint traces of their decendents through out human history. Such qualities which made the Quendi unique were greatly thinned out, but not entirely. Now, those who know their Tolkien ( I'm far from being an expert, keep in mind ) remember that the Quendi didn't understand what men meant by the meaning of the word 'magic'. To the Quendi, it was nothing more unique than the grass being green or being able to breathe. In other words, it was innate to their very being. And definatly NOT a kin to Harry Potter's world, where witches and warlocks were sent to boarding schools to learn their magic. So, I got to thinking. Tara, when Willow meets her, is a meek, shy young thing who longs to do more w/ her magic. But while she's not had anyone to practice REAL magic with, she seems to have caught on to a great deal all on her own. Willow, on the other hand, has grown from a meek, shy version of her younger self, and is more confident. Willow's backgrond in science and quest for knowledge has helped lead her to magic. She sees the application of her earlier skills as a 'logical' progression into the next realm. And so they find each other. Tara, more 'aware' of her own powers if still unsure about them, and Willow, more adept at learning while showing more confidence, are drawn together by forces they can't fully explain. The more I saw Tara, a thought crept up and gave me an idea. She might have some Elvish in her. Her warm demeanor, the light in her eyes and her fair complexion reminded me of the Elf queen, Galadriel. And it wouldn't be just any Elf, but she had to be from the lineage of those who saw the lights of the mingling of the two trees, Telperion and Laurelin, the Silver and the Gold Trees that brought light to the Land of the Valar in ancient times. Those who saw this light were called the Calaquendi. And then I thought " What of Willow ?". Sure, she's 'good' at magic, but it doesn't seem to come as natural as with Tara. And while she's definatly fair to look at, Willow does have a darkness about her. ( despite those big, warm, dark eyes of hers.) Though it's not an evil darkness, but more a lacking of light. Those who never saw the mingled lights of Telperion and Laurelin were called the Dark Elves, or Moriquendi. The Moriquendi never did heed the beckoning to return to lands in the West, and never made it back to Valinor until long after the two trees had died. So, to sum up, Tara and Willow were both long lost decendents of the Peredhil , or Half Eleven. Tara most likely of the Caraquendi, Willow a Moriquendi. From there, it's not hard to imagine the attraction both Tara and Willow felt for each other. Beyond the superficial, each seemed to have a faint echo of those who left us long before. Both Willow and Tara longed to find peace with each other after having been seperated for ages beyond count.

I had a great time but it's good to be back. (sigh of relief) Thanks so much to msg, FollowMal, jossisagod and Marine for your kind words in response to my last blog. You put a big  on my face for the 1400-mile drive. I had a great time! My niece continues to be the cutest and most brilliant girl on this planet, at least in the opinions of me and the rest of my family, and we did some fun stuff, even though I was only there for parts of two days. I went to a festival and a free concert, I hung out with my sister and her family, I saw mountains--it was wonderful. The drive was less wonderful. Both nights I stayed in a motel, I got no sleep because some bozo didn't want anyone in the vicinity to sleep and therefore made enough noise to keep an elephant awake. (Do elephants sleep soundly? I sure didn't.) Why do people do that???? I also had to contend with a dead watch battery, a car that decided to make strange chirping noises in the middle of nowhere, some driver who wanted to see what happens when you merge his SUV into the front end of my Toyota (I hit the brakes just in time), and large flying pieces of tire that pelted my car after a semi's tire exploded just as it was passing me. Needless to say, I'm very happy to be safely home, but I honestly think it was worth it. I did get one Serenity moment: I passed an exit for Mingo! No foolin'. I looked in vain for Fanty, but there was only Mingo (Exit 62 on I-70, btw). Since I only saw one, I can't tell you which is prettier. I hope everybody had a great weekend and I look forward to catching up on the FFF.net happenings. Thanks for saving me a spot!

for some strange reason I haven't been visiting the site as much as I should be. It's been almost a month since my last log entry, and i've done nothing BSR-wise. I don't know what it is, I probably am getting too caught up in school, work, and other commitments to just do things like this anymore. it's not just here either: on almost all the forums i'm a member of, my activity has gone down by nearly 40%. I doubt it's because of lack of interest, more becasue of a lack of time, I suppose. Anyway, as a way to get me back into the flow of the site, I've decided to do a series of graphics for the BSR. I should be able to do more things now that I got the new version oh PS, and If you have an idea for a series, I'm open to suggestions.

So, I never got to go to the Expo. I got sick, it rained for three days and my brother was too busy. He takes a month off work every September to attend as many movies at the Toronto Film Festival as possible and he was working on getting ready for that instead. I decided a Firefly marathon was needed. I'm seeing things in a different light since reading so much fic. More later.

Hey FFFers! It's been a while since I've been regularly dancing about this site like butterflies or scraps of wrapping paper in the wind, but I'm back now. It was folks like Wiccanslyr, Kaylee4Simon and CallMeSerenity who reminded me why I did what I did here from the beginning. Browncoats are the best fans in the 'Verse, bar none. Period. End of story. Browncoats have always made me feel welcomed and respected and even loved. Y'all are the best, and here, I've seen the best. Not saying anything is wrong with forlks on the OB or gossi's boards, but here I feel all of you make this a home. I like that. Thank you. And now that I have the blubbering out of the way, I can go on to the stroking of my own ego. ;P Right then, here's the lowdown: I am at my first Dragon*Con ever. And the first Con I've been to of any type or size in almost 15 years. I am here for one reason. Firefly. And my wife wanted to go. So two reasons. OH! and I'm a gamer...so that too. Okay 3 reasons!!! So sue me. Anyway, onto the meat of the story... So here I am, dressed up as Wash (yeap! I did! I am that "focused" a fan!), and I just paid my $20 to get an autograph from Alan Tudyk on a blown up image of one of the BWAH! cards I made. And I have been a Tudyk fan since I first saw him in Knight's Tale (yes, that means I am NOT one of those who saw Firefly on T.V.) and I am about to go fanboy...I admit it...I was...and I am large semimuscular man enough to admit it. :P Back to the point now. So Alan is getting his picture taken with the person in line in front of me, and as he sits down, I place the big BWAH! card on the table and he just stops and stares at it. Now mind you, they were trying to hurry us through the line because Alan and Summer had a panel at 5:30 (which I made it to, btw!) and it is currently 5:10. He looks over the whole card and says "Whoa." I tell him it's from my card game and he asks if I want him to sign it. To quote my 4 year old "Well, DUH!", so I say yes as this obvoiuosly is not an actual card but an enlarged copy. At this point he looks up. Remember how I said I was dressed AS Wash? Right, so I guess I was one of the few he saw that first day, or maybe the best he saw that day, because he looks up and takes hold of my Hawaiian shirt! He's looking at it, at my jumpsuit, even at my messenger bag I was carrying with FIREFLY on it and all my Firefly buttons. And he's just staring at me...so I manage to say something like "Thank you for all your work." and then he says "Thank yo-you're welcome. We really loved doing it." and I'm thinking "OMG. Is Alan geeking out over me and my card game and the costume and..." Okay, so now, he goes to sign it, and asks who to make it out to. So I tell him "TCM" and tell him it is short for TenthCrewMember. So he writes TCM, and pauses. I reckon I broke his paradigm of the "sign this pic with this, sign that pic with that" because he shakes his head with a smile and writes Shiny! and then signs it. And I thank him again. He says it was his pleasure. And I move on down to Summer who had a much smaller moment when she saw her BWAH! card (movie version) and simply exclaimed "WOOOOW!" and signed it. So now it is day 2 at D*C, and I mention to Wiccy (short for Wiccanslyr) that I am thinking of giving my original set of BWAH! cards to Alan because he seemed so entralled with his card. She proceeds to give me the set she printed out so I don't have to give up my master set. How cool is that? So, I've made up my mind and I am going to give him this set of cards. I figured it would be too tacky to try and do it at the panel, so I would catch him at the Wake for Wash and Book. Missed him by a hair. Undeterred, I tagged along with Wiccy on day 3 to the Walk of Fame again and stood in line for hours, but this time to give something to Alan instead of getting something. Coincidentally, day 3 was scheduled to be my pirate costume day, which someone remarked looked kinda like Steve the Pirate and I never planned that, it just sorta cam

I just watched an excerpt from "The Gift". It was definitely tear-jerking, "Out of Gas" sadness x5. I cheated, though... I've only seen Season 1 and 2 because they're the only ones iTunes has, and I've been watching clips from the later seasons on YouTube. I'm shocked that Buffy and Spike hooked up (she really doesn't deserve him). It was very interesting to see Joss's unmistakable style in Buffy, and I couldn't help but notice the following: 1. They both have a dark, crazy girl. 2. They both have some sort of lesbian activies. 3. Lots of blood, sex, torture, and grate floors. 4. Platforms... I think Joss has a fear of heights. Those are just a few. But anyway, if anyone wants to fill me in on anything that happened between Season 3 and 7, please do.

Yes, I miss it. I probably will for a while. I am also in a very bad mood, and very irritable. Here goes the expected obligatory stuff: I did have a very good time. I liked meeting the people I did (ItsaWash, nevis, FireFlyGal, TheRealMe, LightMeDark, CallMeAth, lissa, citizen, XanderLHarris, JadeHand, EngineAngel, ilovefirefly, AINTWEJUST, and I'm sorry if I forgot any others), but I really didn't get to meet a lot of others from this site that I wanted to. There were plenty of BrownCoats there, and lots of other really neat people too. The culture changes quite a bit after sundown, almost as if there are two different Cons going on. Actully, compared with most of the other people I hung out with, the BrownCoats I was around were the most tame and almost prudish. After arriving, not having slept for 40+ hours (including two shifts at fed job and one closing bartender shift), I showered and got my pass, then met my roommates (ItsaWash, nevis, and FireFlyGal) and passed out for 12 hours. At this point I regret the amount of sleep I got over the weekend. Those 12 hours, plus another 7 hours I spent passed out drunk and another 5 I spent after my last room party, could have been better spent meeting people and seeing things around the Con. Sleepiness is weakness of character anyhow. I was about to go into a detailed description of my entire weekend when I realized that it just doesn't matter (we can blame it on the aforementioned bad mood). I made it to 2 of the 3 FF panels with Alan and Summer, though I was shit-faced drunk at the first one (apparently I did manage to remain standing, take a swig right before being handed the mic, and stammer out a coherant question). There were lines out the door and around the block for all three panels, and I assume there were equally as many people trying to see Summer alone on the last day. We had 2,000 people in the line for the Shindig, and I waited 1.5 hours just to see Summer and Alan face to face (no one else on the Walk of Fame had even a 10 minute line). None of this is meant as complaining, just showing evidence that the fan support for our wonderful show is still strong and growing stronger. We aren't going anywhere FOX, so bring our BigDamnShow back. The late night side of the Con definitely held my interest very well. It was mostly spent out on the smoking patio of the Hyatt and wandering around inside the same hotel, where it seemed like everything was happening. I saw several friends I used to party (rave) with while in school, and even saw a girl that my friend dated in high school (who had gotten much much hotter in the six or so year void). Met a neat girl named Psycho too. Both of those girls I would do many things with that even adults on this site wouldn't be willing to read about. In addition, there were so very many hot bits of tasty there. nevis managed to get loads more pictured than I, and he even managed to spend some time with them on several occasions, both of which make me jealous and in awe of the man. Bah, really bad mood part taking over again. Time to end this shit.

Ohhh, Greece was excellent! * My previously untannable skin is now golden brown * My hair is several shades blonder * The food was even better than I remembered *mmmm, tzatsiki!* * I got a bazillion pictures of churches for my art project *We met loads of really nice people, including this sweet, lonely yet slightly crazy old man living in one of the old monastreys who told us his whole family history and wouldn't let us leave! And the bad news... Fist day back at school today :crap:, but good news on the PE front: the year 11 don't have to do cross country! Ever again! *Does victory dance*

My email notifications seem to be down. I checked my stories and was surprised to see a number of comments that I was not aware of; I'd hate to think that people were messaging me (I was in the middle of a couple of conversations) and I couldn't respond. Anyone else having this problem, and how do I fix it?

Just a note to any SoCal Browncoats... In case any So-Cal Browncoats are planning to to go the L.A. County Pomona Fair, I'll be manning our Mosque's Islamic Information booth in building 8 again this year... The first day, Friday Sept.8, Fair admission is only $1. It's $5 on Wed-Thur after $5, plus they've got specails for college students. Google for the L.A. County Fair website for all the times / prices. I usually work most of the days / nights of the Fair, so hope to meet up with some fellow Browncoats. -- MAGhaffar

I went out and finally got my hands on the official companion to Firefly and I love it. Totally Shiny! I can't wait for volume two. I love all the pictures and the scripts and the little blurbs form the cast and the in depth look at props like Mal's Browncoat and River's Box. What an awesome book for fans new and old alike. It will also be great for recruiting new Browncoats to the ranks.

I've been watching all of the original 1950's TV episodes of HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL. While the main character, Wire Paladin, isn't *exactly* like Mal, there's a lot of similarities. Enough to be entertaining. I'm really enjoying it and highly recommend it to any Browncoats who are sufferin' from the lack of more FIREFLY.

Your instructions on how to mouse-over the Chinese to get the translation to show WORKED!!! So anyone reading my fanfic "Nothin' In The Verse" should be able to do that, unless your browser doesn't support it. Just in case, I'll put the translations at the end of each chapter. And, if anyone else wants to do it, see the thread "Posting Assistance Needed!" You guys rock!

I'm so glad that it is Friday! I can't wait to get off of work and relax. Yesterday I jammed two of my fingers because my three year old son decided to pitch a fit in the middle of a Taco Bell parking lot. He wrenched my fingers because he was flinging himself everywhere. He ended up laying on the ground. If my best friend hadn't been there that kid would've gottent he beating of a lifetime. Luckily she is a lot more cool headed then I am and made a deal with him. I have a lot to learn about being a parent. So I have two gimpy fingers and that sucks! There is just so much goiing on in the next week. The new (well actually old) Star Wars movies will be reissued in their original glory (hey when I was a kid that was super high tech!). Also the Lego Star Wars II game will be coming out. My kids already are begging me to get it. Well they just may have to wait until Christmas. I think that we are going to put it on lay-away sometime in the next week. Things here are pretty humdrum though. I just wanted to blog a little about what was going on around here. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hey all I was thinking about geek culture and all that, and I hit on something that I think could open up to some interesting discussions. To me, a geek is someone who has a larger than normal fascination or obsession with a specific thing. By that definition, I think the majority of people are geeks. Even non-geeky types could be described as geeks. But there seems to be sort of a caste system with geeks. For example, if someone were to dress up as a character from a sci-fi movie or tv show, they're derided and made fun of and laughed at. But if someone wears a melon on their head or paint either their face or body of a specific color of a sports team, that somehow makes them ok or cool. It's even better if you re-enact some centuries old battle in authentic clothing and realistic wounds. Ands to know the inner workings of a warp drive gets jeers, but to know the inner workings of a motor of some classic car makes you the coolest guy in the room. To me, this just seems a bit dumb that in a world of geeks, that motorheads or sports fanatics or civil war buffs or gun nuts or other people that have passionate obsessions with specific human endeavours do not get the same derision as, well...us. Is what I'm saying making any sense to you guys?

Woot, S3 is almost upon us! I'm pretty excited, but it has waned considerably in the last few months. I think I may only got down for the first or second day (not sure yet) as I don't have a room, cuz I wasn't even sure I was gonna be able to go since it was talked about me deploying (which didn't happen) and there not being enough people for me to get the time off (there is now, but I didn't know till late last month). So now its way to late to get a hotel room and I don't have a car to take the drive to london every day... nor would I want to, since it sooo fraking busy in the mornings, lol. SOoo anyways, where is everyone meeting? cuz this is gonna be my first convention in like 3-4 years (last time was Otakon in 02 or 03 i think), and I totally don't know what i'm going to do ,lol.

I am still in somewhat of a bad mood (been overworked and underfucked this week [not mine, I saw it on a shirt at DragonCon]) and that might be what brought this on. Anyhow, I have noticed a trend in the chatroom lately for people to have their way or no way at all, and a bit of a tendancy to come to the defense of someone who has no need for it. Along the lines of how I usually deal with things, I am just not going to be in chat anymore. My IM and MySpace info is above, and I will still be on here posting fanfics and participating in the forums (probably moreso, though the only ones I have really gotten into are the FORSAKEN and DragonCon threads so far). ~Jimi jimi dot spettel at gmail dot com Self-Proclaimed Grand Vizier of Georgia "Marijuana not only should be legal, it should be manditory." - Bill Hicks

I'm a relatively new convert to the Verse and I can't say anything other than give me more! I love it all and continue to mine the net for every of bit of tasty I can get my gorram hands on. I just watched the R. Tam Sessions which was quite an interesting gem to discover. Subscribing to both the FireflyTalk and The Signal podcasts keeps me fresh on all the new happenings. Fingers crossed for the big damn sequel!

I just want to thank everyone who has been taking the time to read and comment on my fiction "Nothin' In The 'Verse Part I". This is my first attempt at fan fic, and all the positive feedback means a lot to me! Someone commented that the chapters are too short - sorry about that. When I wrote it I just ended chapters where natural breaks seemed to fall. Some of the chapters are longer, so hang in! I can also post more at a time if necessary, but I don't want to post a bunch at once and be a board hog! Again, THANK YOU and I'm delighted that people are enjoying something I've written!

My Firefly OVC is shipping from the States. It's actually faster than waiting for the UK edition. How mad is that? There is a disinct possibility of two chapters at once on the horizon - they are being drafted and edited, and I am trying to work out the natural break. Hopefully something will be posted tomorrow (Sunday UK time) Of course, if when the OVC arrives, I find I am on the wrong track, writing will cease.

sofi is back! ok i can understand if you don't think it's *that* exciting news, so feel free not to cheer. to jog peoples memories i'm the one who did all the wash n zoe fanfics. i've been off on holiday for almost two months. one of these weeks was at a creative writing course so maybe my fanfics will have improved! we can only hope. while away i managed to convert two to the ways of the browncoats. i am proud. also, my boyfriends family and another family who we were staying with for 3 weeks are now accustomed to 'firefly' and 'serenity' being a household word and can even recognise quotes. =D i hope to maybe to post a new fanfic sometime this week, depending on how busy first week of school is (yes, i'm *still* at school. sigh) could you possibly draw my attention to particularly good fanfics/images i will have missed? anyway, am glad to be back, missed this site a lot.

Hello all! I just wanted to let you guys know that I've been warring with myself over where I'm going to go with this fic. I've had so many ideas, but they seem so trivial and like they won't live up to anyone's expectations (including my own). I've decided to take a break from writing this chaptered piece and just get on with writing one-shots again in hopes that eventually things will fall into place. I don't know if I'll come back to finish Cruel Summer, or if I'll end it here. I might just leave it alone unless someone can come up with a terribly compelling reason for me not to give it up. Input would be appreciated.
Saturday, 09 September 2006 23:39:18
I've returned after a long absense. I've missed this show & keep wishing they'd get another series going for it on some channel or another movie going. I am in serious need of more Firefly!
Sunday, 10 September 2006 05:02:44
Well, we got everyone settled from the big fire but it's been eating up all my time...We started ripping out all the water damaged sheetrock and insulation..what a mold ridden sodden mess. ugh. Haven't had much time to anything but catch a few winks here and there...we're looking at six to seven months for rebuilding...but once the contractors get started, it should calm down a bit for my part... The Buffy comic/novel is coming along nicely (When I've had a chance to work on it) I'm on page 21..the flashbck rape sequence...Thanks to Maln for some some ideas on how to handle it without being gross or in poor taste... So, that's about it for this time...
Sunday, 10 September 2006 10:42:08
I've gotta admitt it, I'm almost entirely new to the 'verse. It's a shame, but at least I've seen the light now... I had a friend who kept bugging me about watching Firefly, but we never got round to it. So one day we got together a group of people and sat down to check this show out. Truth is we saw almost all of the series in one sitting. We all love it! There were at least ten of us, that makes 10 new browncoats... If we keep converting people like that, some TV-company will eventually see that this will be quite the hit.. Don't ya think? Besides, whatever Joss touches turns Golden, Gold = money.. Anyone else out there from Europe? I dont think either Firefly nor Serenity has been shown on TV here.. Or, maybe in Europe somewhere, but not in Norway. So in order for people to discover Firefly we have to be intriduced to the series by someone.. Well, now I'm gonna go spend time with Real Life.. Ta.
Sunday, 10 September 2006 14:39:44
Yep, folks, thats it for me. I am, officialy, 16 tomorrow. As in 9/11. It sucks. I feel kinda bad, y'know? Feeling happy on 9/11. WHat a GREAT day to be born on, whatwith the two-thousand-ish deaths and the start of some three or so wars. And, then... Steve Irwin died!!! Damn... we'll all miss ya, Steveo. See you on the other side, mate. Just, well... yeah, thats it... kinda. Like I said, being born on 9/11 sucks a lot. Yeah. -Danny

I know - from searching google - that Pullo (aka Ray Stevenson in HBO's "ROME") has been compared to Jayne by a lot of people. I've only just started watching the series on DVD (thank you, Netflix) and so I've only just been introduced to the startling similarities between the centurion character and everyone's favorite mercenary. But, wow, they are so, so much alike. I LOVE IT. There is a total Mal/Jayne dynamic with Vorenus/Pullo. It's sort of like having more FIREFLY... with togas.
Sunday, 10 September 2006 23:45:06
It's kinda like a hope thing. If hope could make it happen for us, if it could pull a sequal or a trilogy out for us, then it would have already happened. We'd have that, heck, we'd have a second season, and a third. But the fact remains that we're not there yet, and we have a lot of work to do, yet. Miles to go before we sleep and all that. Anyway, this is only my thoughts about the subject. So, the only thing we can do is hold the line, and continue to hold until our captain gets back. We cannot falter, we cannot slip, we cannot forget our joy, and our love, life will get in the way, things will try to take her place, but like the song says, they can't take the sky from us. And we will hold, just like our Captain told us to. We will hold until he gets back. And that's something.

Just a little tribute to our Australian heroes. First of all, last Monday I hear one of our great aussie icons, Steve Irwin died. Most people I know, laughed it off thinking that it was a joke, that it was impossible for a person like him, to die like that. Then a few days later, we Australian's lose another icon, the author of Storm Boy and if that wasn't bad enough, we lose a great sporting legend, Peter Brock, known famously for his career in Car racing. So as geniune Australians we chose to embrace the deaths of our fallen heroes and show them that we cared for what they did for us. We donated our time and effort into protecting our native animals, we cherished our written words and we paid tribute to our King of the Mountain. And to think they never gave up, even to the end. Rest in Peace our dearests, you deserve it now, more than ever, let your wisdom guide us to a better future.

I am currently working on the Naked Beach Epilogue to From Bad to Worse, should be a two-parter. After that, I will hopefully return to and complete Sailing Beyond the Sunset, of which I have 23 more planned chapters. I also have some requested smut (more Silee, some Zonara, and my own desire to write some Zosh), and a couple of other one shot and short series ideas on deck (Drunken River Saga inspired by Leighkohl, war fic based on songs by System of a Down, and a Reaver POV fic that no one is going to want to read). I have another long week this week. The second half of the week is full of double shifts. I have to work my fed job from 0600-1430, then come home and rest for only a few minutes before a closing bartender shift from 1600-2330. I have to do it on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so it will be like having six shifts in a row with very little sleep separating them. I should make some pretty good coin though. Saturday night I have to close, but I don't have to go in until 1700 (my football game is at 1330, so I can listen/watch before going in). I got Sunday off again too, which was so very nice yesterday for the resting. I plan to get started on my caffeinated candy beer recipe soon, so I can perfect it in time for next year's D*C. I thought about trying an Irish Red too, and probably will depending on funding. I also want to get a new power supply for my comp and hopefully get it up and running again. It has been down since June and I kinda miss being able to use it. A grouping of a lot of my favorite fanfic writers are staying together for Flan 2 in California in December, and I have been invited to stay with them. Sadly, I do not think time and financial constraints are going to allow me to be there. :( I like the forum threads, and I am glad that I have gotten involved with some of them, though honestly I could see myself getting on a lot more. ~Jimi jimi dot spettel at gmail dot com Self-Proclaimed Grand Vizier of Georgia FORSAKEN "Marijuana not only should be legal, it should be manditory." - Bill Hicks

FInally, after three months, that gorram fic is completed and posted. Now, go read it, please, and lemme know whatcha think? Feedback is the only way I'm ever gonna get better. Part 1 is here ttp://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=12878 It lies, however, it says part 1/3, it's really a 4 parter. In other news, DragonCon has inspired me to start a Browncoat group of our very own in Greenvile, SC, where I am. As soon as the web site is pretty, I'm gonna start a new thread on it, but PM me if you're in the area. Well, enought shameless self promotion, I'm off to work. Be well!

I'm leaving for England this evening. I'm going to SerenityCubed and doing some touristy things. I'm very excited, I've never been to England before. And, best of all, I finally get to meet some lovely Browncoats I've talked to for ages. See you all in a week!

5 years. I would really like to say that we have come a long way in those years, but I can't. I think this country as a whole is worse off then ever. The only thing that is remotely "good" is that Americans have a beter understanding of how we are perceived overseas. Not a good thing, since it is not a positive perception - but a good thing because now we can do something about it. Having spent most of my life in other countries, I have always known how others perceive us, and I too have shared the dread of "American tourists". My mother always made a point of telling us that we weren't tourists - we lived there. She always made sure that we were positive images of the "typical" American. I wish I could say now that the worst thing being said about America and Americans is that we are loud and rude. I am amazed sometimes by the response of Americans to anti-American sentiment. Lets face it people - EVERY Country in the world can't be wrong. IF there is such widespread dislike - perhaps we should look within and see what we are doing to create it. I know - preachin to the choir. On another note - am I the only person on the planet who thinks that poor Terry Irwin should be raving mad at Steve Irwin? I realize he was a great conservationist, a great Australian and a great guy - but CRIKES! Mate, you left behind an adoring spouse and 2 beautiful kids. I am just saying, I would be way pissed off right now where I her!

lo, there is one big reason i love firefly. (besides the awesome writing, fantastic actors, and a certain good looking captain) i love it because its the alternative universe i can escape to. its where i can see these amazing characters and just immerse myself in that world. its a great place 2 go when things arent so hot in reality. (i mean it, things arent so hot) i think thats why so many people like it. its where you feel like you know the characters, and fox was very very very dumb to let it go. :disappointed: -Over

Eyes of doubt and happiness mix early, shapes and sounds echoe in time and space, beating against beating, coming together as one, the void of nothing slowly disappears in the dawn, the slight gasp of doubt and fear, slowy esing away, no waking, a cover, light as feathers, slowly slips free, holding a blunder to the holder, as dawn slowly shows, unseen, empty footsteps wander down the stairs, empty hopes float away, emptiness is there, Where is the warmth? Why is it empty? The heart aches, there is nothing there, heavy footsteps pad to the window, hidden by the shadows, watching, sadness in the reflection, sadness on the face of the other, as she too looks up at the watcher.

Got my Firefly OVC yesterday, got my Finding Serenity today. I nailed it. I got Jayne right, I got Mal right. I got the motivations. I got the cage imagery that Mercedes Lackey sees. I have absorbed the influences, read the books, seen the movies... In short, I feel that I am actually pursuing the vision in a way that would make Joss, well, kinda proud. So I'm going to continue on my own goofy little way. Sod anyone who can't be bothered to give me feedback - I feel vindicated and validated here. Even if I never see a penny from any of this, I am writing good, solid work with firm foundations and an informed slant. In short, gorramit, I can write like Whedon and Edlund and Minear and all those other wonderful folk that got paid to do it. So maybe one day someone is going to pay me for my stuff, too. There is nothing like a little modesty. And reading the above, that is certainly nothing like modesty. But hell with it - ain't like folks read and comment on this, now, is it? SpaceAnJL Breeder of mutant plot-bunnies since 2002...

Just trying to get pictures uploaded, anyone reading this who knows how to on this forum I'd gladly appreciate it. Anyway, just crashing out with Bladerunner on the tv and waiting for Beth, my gorgeous midget of a fiancé - who only found out today her official job title is sandwich artist. Amazing. Bleh, bored and I'm a bloody awful blogger.

This is only valid for 09/12/06 If you live in Winston-Salem, or Greensboro in North Carolina watch the 10:00 news on F*X, after Standoff goes off. They're doing a story about HDTV or something, I don't actually know what it's about. I was just watching House and my Serenifly senses went off. Anyway, they're probably going to show clips of the movie in BluRay or something, so be sure to watch. And, um, this Standoff show is kinda bad. And there's not enough Gina in it. But, I'm watching it. Because, as a Browncoat, I can do nothing else. I've actually been through this before as a Xenite. That's how I've been watching Singing with the Stars (or whatever the deuce it's called) and 'The Man with the Screaming Brain'. Yeah, but sometimes, you have to watch crap, because you love a show. Anyway, if you're in the Triad, watch F*X news tonight at 10.

Yeah so, NOT divorced yet. Dumbass' lawyer was told to draw up the papers when the judged ruled. He did and sent them to my lawyer and he got it all wrong - in favor of dumbass of course. So I had my lawyer pull the transcripts. So again, as usual, it is all my fault and I should burn in hell. Other than that. Its all good. Except the freaking weather! I mean hell hot is one thing, but hot with 99% humidity so it feels like you are walking through a bath all day - YUCK!

WHAT CAN WE DO TO SAVE IT, CMON GUYS WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING, WE CAN MAKE IT KNOW THAT WE WANT FIREFLY BACK, OR ATLEAST GIVE IT SOME FREE PUBLICITY, ITS NOT THAT HARD (well...the harder ways put a larger dent in it but anyways) IDK POST SIGNS UP? INTENTIONLY LEAVE A FIREFLY 1ST SEASON BOX OUT WERE EVERYONE CAN SEE IT AT A STORE, YOU CAN HELP SAVE FIREFLY, THERE IS STILL HOPE WE JUST HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER, AND KEEP WORKING AT IT. WE NEED FIREFLY BACK, i mean think about it we saved it the first time with a movie, that apparently never happens, if we come together we can do the almost impossible, all we need is to try and get firefly noticed.

About ten minutes ago, I came to the startling conclusion that I'm not in fact working 33-35 hours like I thought I was and am in fact working a full forty every week. And going to school. I may just die this semester.

Ok, so I just finished the entire series of X-Files. That's taken about two years because my roomie's been buying the seasons and they ain't a bit cheap. Anyhow, Adam Baldwin is in the last two season. Sordid fellow. So now I can expand my list of TV shows I've seen every episode of. Firefly Buffy X-Files Pittiful, no? I sorely wish to add Angel to that, I have only seen season 4 and part of season 5. I have seen every episode of the first four seasons of Smallville, and soon will add the fifth. I have also seen most of the first seven seasons of Friends. That is basically the limit to my TV show ness. I don't have TV, only shows on DVD. Here is my theory on TV shows on DVD: they are better than movies. Longer, more characterization. Also, the episodes are shorter. I have found that my attention span is seriously diminishing, so hour long is better than two or three. Not to say that I don't watch two or three or more episodes in a row... not saying that at all. But, the theory stands. Also, it's a hecka lot better to watch shows on DVD than on TV because there are no comercial breaks, no week long waits. One can pause for breaks. I like it. It makes my heart happy.

Wow....someone hasn't written in a while. Wiat, that can't be me, can't it? *shocked* All right, all right, I'm sorry I haven't been on here forever....I was just watchin' Firefly the other day, and I thought, "Ya know, I'd really like to get the soundtrack"....so...that's next on my agenda: GET FIREFLY SOUNDTRACK. It's gunna be awesome. Also, I had a question, if anyone may happen to read this and respond: Is there any way for me to search for an author of a fanfiction? For instance, I read this really good fanfiction story the other day, and I wanna read any other ones that that paticular author comes out with, and I'm not sure how I can keep "tabs" on said author without checking the fanfiction every day. See my predicament? Yeah, any advice would be helpful. Thanks bunchies! "You wanna run this ship?" "Yes!" "Well...you can't!" Heh. I love Mal. -Hannah

Hi all! Just because I miss talking fic, here's my situ... I have been working lots on the next part of the Fish Job/Easy Tickets saga. The new one is now almost as long as The Fish Job right now, but much more writing and assembly is still needed. I have a suspicion it'll be longer than Easy Tickets when it's done. *whew* Hints to tantalize: the new tale has a lot of background on the BDH's, and much of this will be told backwards. (Trust me here, okay?) Hence the working title of the new fic is - for now - 'Backstories.' The parts that interest me the most involve (duh) Mal and Inara, but I've decided to include at least a little history on each of the 9 BDH's. Which led to the insane plan to write at least one chapter from each character's POV. Wo de ma - it's challenging! But entertaining. I've been working on Simon a lot lately, and I really like where it's going with him! The good news for me and bad news for my fic is: I've got a special friend, and he's taking up a lot of my free time.  He's not a flan (yet) but he has an English major and wasn't horrified to hear of my fanfic obsession, so he might even be of some help with this someday. I just need to make him sit down and watch the BDS! Okay, back I go to writing. I really miss posting, I wish I wrote faster!

I can't believe they did this to me AGAIN! First off, they don't have NEARLY enough drivers for our county. Secondly, the busses they drive are pieces of crap, and they inevitably break down at the worst possible times(Like an hour before scheduled pickup times). This is REALLY TICKING ME OFF! Part of what's ticking me off is that I don't have enough experience to be able to drive to my college's campus 45 minutes away, the other part is that the transportation system doesn't tell people when things go wrong, so we're left high and dry to try to figure these things out on our own. I NEED to force myself to get into my car and drive to the campus on one of my off days, so that I will not have to rely on crappy public transportation to get where I need to go. Oh, well, Live and Learn. JOSSISAGOD!

I bought some army jungle boots from my local military surplus store for some Jayne boots. Still looking around for some types of cargo pants to use. Griffin is also nice enough to make me Jaynes wristbands for an extra $30 dollars along with the Gun Belt and Sheath I ordered. I've also just ordered a Troublemaker Shirt from www.bluesunshirts.com as well today. All in all, Things are going by pretty well for this costume, next post I'll tally it up thus far to see just how much I've been spending on this.

Wow! School has been keeping me really busy, I have hardly had a chance to check out the FFF.net boards lately! So anyways, I thought I would put out a new blog so anyone who cares can know I'm still breathing! This coming Monday celebrates my ugh...27 b-day. Part of me feels really young, like say 19, but my body feels 80! I already have arthritis and negative bone density that is border line osteoperosis...yikes...but since I am still in college (returned after a LONG absence) I tend to feel really young, I had a couple of professors who thought I was right out of high school...it's nice to know that I still look young  So anyways, this year I have a lot to be proud of. I am finishing up two degrees and will be graduating with high honors in May, I have lost over 60 pounds since I started to take notice of my ever widening ass and I haven't smoked in over a year and my drinking is down considerablly as well! So these are things that I am going to hold on to this year as I turn yet another year older. I am hopefull for the future and plan on building on my life goals, I only have 30 more pounds to go before I can be considered too skinny and if I make it into the Phd program I am interested in, I only have a short decade of school left! Hey I didn't say I would be able to accomplish these things overnight, that's why there are on my life list, not things to do in an hour list! *giggles* Anywho...I just felt like getting that stuff off my chest, it's very cathartic to put that stuff down! Love and Kisses, Capture

I never thought we'd join the stats.I wonder what life will be like as a single mother. This royally sucks.

Hey~ This is my first post BDM story. I have to say I really enjoyed giving Simon and Kaylee free reign and I am glad I finally got to pay tribute (in my own NC-17 kinda way) to the memory of Wash and Zoe; the best damn marriage in television (Joss ya' finally got the relationship thing spot on in one of your worlds and ya' went and messed with it - gorrammit - ok, Wash death rant over). I hope you all like it. Please leave comments...I am a feedback Companion. Thanks for reading me. ~Kessa (YoSaffBrig)

My daddy is a dirty whore. :disappointed: He has been corrupted by his wife who is trying to break him away from his children and now she's trying to break us away from our mom. Boy does she have it coming to her. I'm not a violent person but if she keeps on :censored: with my family I WILL put that :censored: down. :pissed: The :censored: thinks she can :censored: with my family then she doesn't know who she dealing with. And here I've been telling the family to "just give her a chance." No one else is my family likes her. She doesn't realize that I have can and will alienate her from this family. If she wants a war then she's got one. :bash: I really hope it doesn't come to this but if it does I will win. :finger: PS. Me and my roommate are having a Angel weekend to other than the torment my father is putting me through it should be an fantasic weekend. And my roommate finally have a copy for Firefly so now the count of box sets is 3.

17 days and counting...! I've made many friends, and am going to hate to let them go. I wish I could do more. Anywho, nothing much lately. Been hoping that the 'rumor' of Joss is true (another Firefly project). I've been drawing a picture for someone, and I hope they post it here so you all can see it - if it's any good, if I don't ruin it when shading. Well, not much else. Leave some comments if you want.

Wow..been awhile since I've been here. I've missed everybody and was deeply hurt that I had other commitments at D*Con and couldn't go to the shindig. :crap: Hope all you Browncoats had amazing amounts of fun and shiny-ness (yes, I just made that up.) I also have been foresaking my duty. *cringes and hides from the oncoming storm* I haven't watched Firefly or Serenity in a very long time. But I do have an idea for a vid...and am getting right on it. Just as soon as the ficathons are done and school dies down for a little bit. Oh, and I have an LJ. Anybody who's over there, look me up. livejournal.com/~adirondack_girl. (Not my idea for the name, lol) I really have missed this fandom. The people are so open and feel like friends from a long time back, and coming back feels like I never left. Well, it took me a MONTH, but I finally got "Out of the Frying Pan" updated. It's a transitional chapter, with a whole lot of smut. Next few chapters are gonna have some fairly major plot developments. Surgery! Weddings! More smut! Okay, that last one isn't so unusual. I'll do my best to get chapter five done in a more timely fashion. First was an absolutely magical vacation in Canada, where I just might be attending college next year. Sadly, the rest of the month, I was preoccupied with some still unresolved medical woes. Nothing really life-threatening, but still complicated and annoying. Of course, nothing keeps me focused and gets my muse in shape like feedback...hint.

So after months owning Bonnie & Clyde my 2 Bourke's Parrot's, it looks like there going to have baby Bourkies. Yeay so excited. My first time breeding Bourke's. But I have bred over 40 budgies so I have hope in Bonnie and I feel she's gonna be a great mum. So I will know in about 20 days or so if I'm gonna have baby Bourke's Parrots.

Well, I'm all moved in at college and, now that things seem to be gettin' back to manageable, I think I'm ready to pick back up with Blue Moon: Episode 5. Hope the long wait hasn't destroyed my reputation with whatever fans I had in the first place… Regardless, go ahead and read it. It's got cats. And swearing.
Monday, 18 September 2006 10:32:05
So, not very often I do this -- become a member of a site -- but honestly, out of the many movies or areas of interest I have, Firefly is one of my favorites. It started awhile back actually with my finding out about the show through an Alan Tudyk site (I love him ). It interested me and I really wanted to see it after that, though I don't believe it was out yet on DVD. When the movie came out I wanted to see it but I didn't want to watch it without seeing the show first -- wouldn't be right that way. So I was ecstatic when my mother knew a friend that had the complete season of Firefly. I watched all of it with my mom and my sister in the span of about three days, saw the movie and knew I needed to own both. I'm not even going to try to describe how much I love this show; I've watched it numerous times over, I love all the characters, know all the lines, etc, as any fan should. And I am definitely that! I was online looking up Firefly, found this site, and I registered, hoping to find more people with my interests in general, and of course, my interest in this incredible show (though I'd be happy to discuss only the show forever) heehee. As far as me goes, I love to sing, act, draw, read, and write; I love music and movies, and I have plans on becoming a singer, an actress, or a writer of fantasy books. I am hopelessly obsessed with Firefly and Serenity, and I plan on being here a lot. (By the way, I just finished watching the series and the movie for the millionth time just under two hours ago *is happy*) Well, farewell for now, and I love all of you fans out there because you're oh so smart for appreciating this awesome show!! (I know, I know; I'm such a ruttin’ suck-up...)
Monday, 18 September 2006 16:17:20
So, watching the marathon on Scifi and the movie on HBO, and I can switch back and forth during commercials and whatnot. I'm just soooo happy right now. So, I've got to get back to it, yeah, just thought I'd catch you up on that.
Monday, 18 September 2006 16:33:30
Hey All Well, last night I finally got through season 5 of ANGEL. It was a true roller coaster of emotions and thought the last scene truly crystalized the whole point of the show. And I was watching and listening to the special features of the DVD and hearing Joss talk about how he prefers to use fantasy to examine the real world and the quote about he doesn't want to make "grown-up" shows. And I wholeheartedly agree with the former sentiment and the proof is in the pudding. But I can't help but feel a bit isolated by throwing myself into Jossworld and this site and all that. It's just that, while I do enjoy sci-fi and fantasy (especially stuff done this well), I actually happen to like some of the "grown-up" stuff that no one seems to mention here. I love indie films and stuff that gets their premieres at film festivals like Sundance, Cannes and Toronto. I love political documentaries, as well as rockumentaries. The cable channel I'm getting more and more into nowadays is Turner Classic Movies. At first, I was dubious about the claim, but every time I see it, I'm closer and closer to believing that CITIZEN KANE truly is the greatest movie of all time. I love shows like 24, THE OFFICE, SIX FEET UNDER and THE SOPRANOS. Last night, I saw the premiere of STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP and loved every minute of it and can't wait to see the next episode. It's weird, as I get older, I find myself drawn more to I guess more actual grown-up stuff. I seek out true substance over style. Even though my dream project as a filmmaker is to turn the comic book BONE into either a $100 million dollar HBO miniseries, or an animatedserise akin to BATMAN: TAS, my mission statement is to find the extraordinary within the ordinary, because I think people can identify with those stories far more than a group of random people stopping the apocalypse for the umpteenth time. But I get the sense that if I try to spark up a discussion about any of these things here, that I'd be getting the cold shoulder. That unless if it has anyone from Joss's camp involved with it, than it's sub-par and below our standards. Am I alone in this? In order to have a discussion about any of these things, do I have to go to another site, or can I have my cake and eat it too by staying with this site? Does anyone here share my fascination with anything on the above list? Or should all my future posts only involve FIREFLY or anything sci-fi related?

My husband just requested less babies and bees and more scary stuff. This sounds like a challenge. Bwah-hah-hah-hah!! Mine is an evil post-migraine-hangover laugh. You know, very quiet but with a definite edge of malice...followed by an "ow". The evil sugar high laugh is much more fun to experience for the laugher.. trust me.

Greetings, 'Coats, and I come to you with a plea for assistance. The fanfic that I'm working on, 'When in Rome', first kicked off much earlier this year but was shelved for a while. Now that I've restarted it, I had the same beta; but in recent weeks, by all appearances, she's no longer interested. So here I am with my thrilling-heroics hat in hand requesting aid. The rewrite isn't very far along (prologue and first chapter posted here thus far), so if anyone here is willing and able, I'd be very much obliged. Xie-xie, - Steemah.

Hey, One of our fans made a music video based on our song "On the Drift" (based on the episode Out of Gas). Check it out:

Yep, thats right folks, no more posts from me. I doubt I'll have much time to look in on the site, matter o' fact. See, thing is... I'M WRITING A BOOK!!!! Yep, first worthwhile thing I've found at Sachem East. So, I will have to put all my spare time into this, and work my ass off to get to the deadline limit (60 pages, but I'm shootin' more for two hundred... in 4 months). Yeah, so if I don't haul ass, I'm screwed. It's something like eighty dollars a month (so I have to give up Karate *sob*). When (if) it comes out, I'll tell ya'll (just cuz I like to brag, naw). But, 'til then... apetizae, adios, ja ne, goodbye, toodlepip, and any other ways to say bye... -Danny

As I sit here monitoring my students during a giant test which will be used to prove I am either a good or bad teacher, I wonder several things? (WARNING: giant rant to follow) What exactly did George Bush do to prove he was "highly qualified" for his position. We teachers are required to hold at least enough hours to have majored in every subject we teach or work with. So a person who majored in biology and minored in chemistry would be required to go back and complete another degree to teach chemistry even though they might be perfectly capable of teaching this subject on a junior high level...So following this reasoning. I would like to see proof that Mr. Bush has enough hours for a degree in Political Science, Intternational Law, Diplomacy, Military tactics, Law, Heath Care Regulation, etc... Also, I am being measured based on my students achievement. My students must show a constant and consistent increase in their academic performance. In Mr. Bush's words, "all students will be above average" OK now by definition average is the score or level to which the majority( most people) reach. So how exactly can everyone be better than the average?? Mathematically impossible? yes, but I am still expected to get there anyway. Also, I am judged solely on my student's tests scores. They do NOT take into account whether the student has serious learning disabilities, low IQ, can't speak or write in English( they are tested in English no matter what) have no motivation, have abusive parents, skip school constantly, all the little factors that can stop a kid from doing well on a test. If the kids do not increase their scores every year ( til presumably they are scoring greater than 100%) than my school and I are considered failures... So where is the proof that this country is showing increased improvement each month for every citizen??

What to blog about? Hm. How best to continue, or restart the FF universe? Options... Animation, another TV show, movie, books, web-shows...blogs?... Trouble points:Anything that looks inherently western will have a long, hard climb up the mainstream-o-meter. (:stupid:) The show must be sold on its characters, and storylines, which is what kept me coming back in the first place. It is very unique, and that always takes a few interpretations (read:writers, artists...etc) to help translate its message to the public. Yes, it is part Western, yes, part sci-fi, yes, part drama, yes, part comedy. But it's all character. Some points to ponder. :banghead: I'll be back.

I got my OVC, 'Finding Serenity' and a copy of 'the Killer Angels' last week. So I got a little sidetracked. (see previous hysterical gloat) Plus, friends. With issues. (also see previous) However, in response to the e-mails I have received - there is another chapter being edited even as we speak. (type, whatever) Honestly, I'm kinda scared to open my mail, 'case I get one of the Captain's ears in a box or somethin'. Though if someone wanted to send me a gift-wrapped Jayne for my birthday... So, really, I'm sorry it is taking so long, but I wouldn't want to palm folks off with something shoddy. I want the results to be the kind of thing that Joss would like (or even say, 'pretend I wrote that, okay?') This is not my job, unfortunately. It's what I do in the hours around earning cashy money to pay my mortgage. (I am old and boring) I would like this to be my full-time occupation. It may be that when I have finished my FFfest (or it finishes with me) that I will go back to my original writing. But I will not leave people hanging in mid-fic. That's all kinds of bad-mannered. But if you figure that I average about 2,500 words a chapter at about one chapter a week (self-proofed and edited), and fit that around a full-time job, a social life with my husband, and running a house, you might see that I do reasonably well. Incidentally, I wrote most of 'Another Girl' whilst preparing for my wedding, and a couple of chapters by the pool on my honeymoon (husband is mostly understanding of these things, luckily). The crossover I started for the summer challenge has actually mutated, and will be a long fic in its own right. I just need to work out if it comes before or after Zen II. BTW - has anyone got the technical skills to link music files to fics? It would amuse me to actually put the soundtrack to AGAP on the fic. (You guys did notice the soundtrack, right? If not, check out the lyrics to the songs/chapter headings. It all makes a horrible kind of sense.)

I have finally taken the plunge and turned car detailing from a sideline hobby to a full-out business, right up to looking for a boat of my own to do my business in. I have called myself EVERYTHING'S SHINY Auto Detailing and Reconditioning. Most people will never make the connection, but I hope any Browncoat will give me his or her business.

Alright, my creative writing class is OFFICIALY fantastic. Our teacher had us list the abstract and concrete characteristics of our favorite characters, so of course I chose River Tam. Then she had us write a scene based on those traits. So I'm going to transfer it onto here as a VERY short fanfic. It's definitely not the best I can do, but I'll post in anyway and see what my fellow Browncoats think.

Well...were to begin. This is my first blog entry in any forum...ever! So no pressure. As a devoted browncoat I think it's only right that I inform others of my potentially exciting current events. Hopefully those that read this won't spontaenously throw up on thier keyboards, if they do, well they have my deepest apologies. I currently have two stories online...Revenge Is Early and Good Luck Charm. Both stories are still in progress so if anyone is actually crazy enough to enjoy my writing please be patient. If nobody has actually read my flights of fantasy then all is well. I'm going to be attending a firelfly Meetup in Orlando Saturday. So if anyone has a wish to meet a few firefly fans and watch the 'Train Job' as well as enjoy a little trivia and a prize feel free to come. check out the Meetup at Meetup.com...and search for Firefly Meetup Orlando. There are still 6 spaces open, Dong Ma!? So who am I, why am I here...well dear reader I'm your average gentle giant, a poet in the guise of beast, a man of great size and little means, a master of the spoken word and a completely illread bafoon. (Yes, there are pictures be patient) So why am I a Browncoat? Is it the Western influences? Is it the references to Eastern culture? Is it the transcendental nature of the complex character and plot show we have come to love more then any other? Or is it that Inarra is totally hot....Yes dear reader all of the above. So until you hear me again, or read, because if you're 'hearing' me you're more frightening then I could possibly imagine. Just keep flying, and stay shiny.

Please don't read this if you don't want to be depressed. I was called into a mandatory department meeting yesterday. I'm in a small department of about 12 people and one manager. We were all sitting there about to begin when a senior manager & the head of HR walked in with somber faces. That's when I knew it wasn't going to be good. While the HR person took a seat several feet away (as if to serve as a witness), the senior manager put on his Serious & Disappointed Face and proceeded to: 1. accuse us of things that weren't true 2. threaten to fire us 3. demand a loyalty oath from all of us Can you believe that? I was dumbfounded. After the senior manager left, we calmly explained to our manager what the real facts were, and I thought we cleared the air. I told myself it doesn't really matter if some idiotic senior manager who doesn't know me questioned my loyalty to the company. Those who know me don't have to ask. Then, today, my manager demanded to know if I'm on board. This is the same woman who was my co-worker when I started out eight years ago. Since she always got Friday afternoons off, I usually had to deal with company deadlines by myself every week. Whenever I commented to her that I'd had to put in a lot of overtime to meet a particular deadline, she'd scoff and say, "Why did you do that? They shouldn't expect you to do that." Now, that same woman wants to know if I'm loyal. This is betrayal, in my eyes. Call me melodramatic if you want, but this and other managers have often commented on how hard I work, as well as how conscientious and reliable I am, but now they don't seem to know if I'm loyal unless I proclaim it to them. I'm so depressed. There aren't many good jobs in this rather small town so I have few options, but believe me, I'm going to explore them now. Now I have to face this person (whom I sit beside) tomorrow and all the days after that. She obviously thinks being a manager is more important than being a human being. I used to think she might be my friend, but I'm not under that illusion anymore. When I told her in an e-mail that I was disappointed that she had to ask if I'm loyal, she got all huffy and again demanded an answer. I typed one word: Yes. In other words, I lied. For the first time ever in that job, I lied. I hope she's happy. I'm sure not.

So chapter 5 is up. Chapter 6 is done. And chapter 7 is almost complete. Of course, I'm really not sure where I'm going to go after that, so it'll be interesting. I have a few ideas, but I can't wait to see how it all turns out. This story has really taken a life of its own, and I'm just enjoying the ride. For now.

sorry it's one of my English classes vocabulary words and I love it....just thought I'd share:) Also great joke( keep in mind I am a former cheerleader) How many cheerleaders does it take to change a lightbulb? One- she stands in place and holds the bulb and the world revolves around her:)

So, my overall opinion of the con? Less queuing because I went to see/get photos with/autographs from only Christina and Gigi this time around; lots of old and new and never-seen friends encountered; more talking to various folks during the day; more time spent in the talks - all good. The negative? The parties. For starters, the oh-no-not-that-song-again problem; I mean, once a con would be fine, but the same dozen plus songs and their accompanying dances every damn night? Too much. Add to that my realisation (at the worst possible time, really) that (me + loud music + dancing) = plenty not-fun. You can barely talk to anyone, they'll never hear me because I tend to speak quietly, and I don't really enjoy dancing as I'm not any good at it. All of which leaves me sitting there unable to hear what anyone around me is saying and then being left behind when they all go for a jolly dance with all the other people having fun. Hence my distinct out-of-sorts-ness every damn night, which, to be honest, is my own stupid, masochistic fault. Which brings my overall feeling of the con strongly into the negative, sadly. It might even dissuade me from attending any others. ... Now, that's what I wrote earlier today. What do I think now? Much the same, but slightly less black. As I said, it was entirely my own fault, after all. No one made me stay in there. It's just my usual sort of stupidness. I'm big on that. Heh. Loved meeting everyone, anyway  And all those pictures of people being hugged by Jewel makes me want to be there for that next time around

This is a challenge. What if Saffron was who she said she was in the begining of "Our Mrs. Reynolds"? What if Mal let her stay onboard? Anyone think they could write this? 'Cuz I know I haven't been able to. Include- -Dialoge from the episode. -Inara getting very upset and angry over the situation. -A fight between Inara and Saffron. (Verbal) -Jayne and Vera. -Happy ending. -Comedy, not a whole lot of angst. -At least ten chatpers. Optional- I'm a Mal and Inara shipper so maybe it could turn out with Mal getting both of them? If so, at the end, we definately need a sulking comment from Jayne at the end. :)

Woo Hoo! Start a new job on monday! New industry. No more IT challenged end-users, no more bible thumping no fun co-workers. Dare I say that they will miss me when I am gone. Upper management thought it best not to tell my clients I was leaving until after I had gone. Gee, I wonder why? LOL Anyhoo, closer to home, more money, no more hour one way drive! The kids are doing well. #2 has a B/A average depending on the day of the week, and this despite still being in pain and tiring easily! We start weights this week to start building up muscle. Mom and Son weight building. God love him. #1 calls me at work and sings me his college song - "I'm going to College, I'm going to Colllllllllege". This is. of course, as he is driving to class. Borrowed girls are doing well. And Borrowed boy. Lord how I miss him. Hoping to beable to take #2 to see him this weekend. That is all I know. Oh yeah - DON'T get the new Arm & Hammer cat litter. The stuff in the bag that says 10 pounds does the work of 21 pounds and is NATURAL. Cause it doesn't work. Changed it 2 days ago and there is a definite pong of cat in this here room. So that is all in FMF land. Did some weights YAY me so off to the shower!

2005 was a dreary year for cinema. Perhaps this is why BOP surprised many (including ourselves) by voting an unheralded science fiction movie as the best of the year. The movie in question is Serenity, and our staff's love of it is well documented. Few screenplays in recent memory combine the wit and intelligence Joss Whedon displays in this, the best sci-fi action flick since The Matrix. You, too, should love it...but how well do you know it?

OH!!! How the days grow ever small. 13 days till the big one! What to do until then to help the fellow Browncoats... hmm... A fic? Poems? More metaphors? Who knows. If anyone actually enjoys reading what I spit out, requests aren't pushed away! I love the feedbacks. :P Anywho, there's going to be a chatroom for me to help say goodbye to people.

I was just browsing around on one of the other fansites I visit. wotmania.com It's for a set of books called the Wheel of Time. I happened to glance over at the quote of the moment (random quote that changes whenever you change pages so you probably won't find it if I give you the link) and saw this. I'm temporarily in luck: most of management was out of town for the rest of the week, so peace and sanity reigned at work for at least a while. I sincerely want to thank all the wonderful Browncoats who responded to my previous blog. You are all the greatest and you helped restore my faith in humanity. It means a lot to me. I've since calmed down a little, but I'm still going to look for another job. Here's my latest theory on management's M.O.: they must be aware that there are a few discipline problems in the company, but for some reason they absolutely refuse to confront the few (and there really aren't very many) people who are causing these problems. Maybe they're afraid of a lawsuit from a disgruntled employee? I have no idea. Instead, they've decided to punish ALL employees. I heard a manager yesterday say, "Don't take it so personally. This is a company-wide thing." Did she hear what she was saying? Of COURSE we're taking it personally, because we're all being told that we're, in effect, little children who can't be trusted to act responsibly on our own. If management wasn't there to keep us in check, who knows what would happen? (Maybe we'd all be happier and a lot more work would get done. Ha!) Anyway, I'll see if I can find something else. Meanwhile, thanks again for your support.

I am new to this fan site. Though I have been a firefly fan for a few years. Just never thought to look up a fansite until I wanted my show back. Just wanted to say hi and glad there is so much support for this tv show around. It really was a BIG MISTAKE that this show got cancelled and way before its time. /hugs to Joss Whedon and I want my Mal back! =D

I think I need to take a little break. I'm sick, and I tend to stay up late scribbling (you get in the zone and want to get that idea down and three hours have passed). I'm also anxiously awaiting my visual companion, etc. I really want to get a better feel for the background and see if I can figure out where Papa Joss & Co. might have been headed with the characters. Having a reference so I don't have to keep vaguely waving and saying "a moon over there-ish" would be nice. Need to think a little about where I'm headed before I paint myself into a corner. I think I'm writing the crew in a much needed (relatively) happy place before making it get really ugly on them. I'm not sure yet. I don't want Jazmine to be the answer to all their problems and just throw money at it. I actually did think about killing her off (for about a minute and a half). Not quite ready to let her go yet. She may end up spending some time off ship holding down the fort when it gets really hairy. Like I said, not quite sure where I'm going with the long term plot arc. I'm thinking of trying straight prose instead of script format. You can get so much more of a character's thought process and plot/subplot in when you don't have to rely on getting them to say it effectively. You can get a lot more description in too. Any advice or suggestions?

The movers come in two days and I still have so much to do. im just afraid that I might forget something. maybe im also bummed that i'll spend my 25th birthday in the middle of nowhere in the Yukon Territory. I wish I could fast forward a few weeks and be closer to my destination. im just sad overall. im losing the only house I ever loved, too bad I cant take it with me like...maybe a spaceship that resembles a Firefly. i just have to keep saying to myself... "it could be worse."

And this time, I am crossing over to, well... okay, when I write things its always the dark side, so that little star war analogy doesn't work. It's not an M/I fic, it's an S/K fic. I'm a whole 1,000 words in. I don't intend for it to be nearly as long as "Over the Hills" was (never again, ah...). Right now, I'm thinking it will be in the area of 10,000 - 15,000 words. The plot? We'll you'll see if I ever finish it/post it. It's set roughly four years after the BDM. Also, it may involve space spawn. But with angst. So, if you don't like space spawn, er... spend this month getting really comfy with the idea of liking them? Or ignore the fic, whichever. Also, if anyone is interested in betaing it, you know, in a month or so when I hope its done, please let me know. Peace!

OK, it's the first day of Ramadhan (the Fast in Islam) and my brain is not firing on all cyclinders due to the usual 1st-day hunger pangs etc., and there I am decked in my Browncoat perusing monoculars at the Gadget stand in building 9, when I hear this tune being whistled in my vicinity... I'm thinking: "Damn, that tune is familiar. What IS that?" The Sunday afternoon crowds are bustling and and I'm intent on getting back to the booth (#9130) where I'm on duty dispensing info on Islam... So I get back to the booth and it hits me -- that was the BDM theme I was hearing all right! Gorramnit, I am indeed brain-dead and did not realize it in time to acknowledge the person doing the whistling. So here 'tis. Yes, I did hear you. My apologies for spacing out on you, whoever you are. If you come back to the Fair (in Pomona) please stop by the Islam booth and say "Howdy" or maybe "Say... your coat is a kinduva BROWNISH color" and I promise I won't space out on you again. [sigh] Here I am advertising the 'Verse in my shiny browncoat and don't even notice when a fellow Browncoat gives me the secret audio "wassup?"... But at least you tried. Hi there. I'm terrible at writing blogs, they never come out as interesting as I would like them to. I never even know what to write about most of the time. So my parents are in Portugal this week. That means I get to boss my brother around and basically be in charge of everything. The power may just go to my head. I also start back at uni this week. I'm going into my final year :(. I can;t believe it, I'm actually going to have to get a proper job after this year. Not something I'm looking forward to. And my loan hasn't gone in yet! The stupid letter the SLC sent me told me it was going in on the 25th September. Well it is the 25th September and I still haven't got it. Could be worse, they could've cocked it up like they did with my friend's. On a happy note, i was channel-hopping last night and i discovered Sci-Fi are showing Firefly. Yes, I may have seen every episode more times than i care to remember but that doesn't mean I can't watch it again. Happy birthday to my cousin, David, who is 9 today and get well soon to my grandma. Anyway TTFN, maybe next time i'll have something more interesting to write. Hope I didn't bore you too much. Jennifer -x-

The klutz that I am has been at it again. At forty-something you'd think I'd remember before closing the sliding door, to to make sure that all parts of my body are on the same side of the door jam, wouldn't you? Nope. Caught my thumb in the door yesterday right at the base joint. The good news is, the joint does work. The bad is the thumb keeps swelling and going numb. :crap: And what am I doing? I'm opting to err on the side of embarassed stupidity and will wait a few days to see if it improves before involving my doctor. I know that contusions do swell for a few days after, so I'm trying not to rack up any expenses unnecessarily. And, it isn't showing any bruising, so yea that. I'm also experienced with broken digits, as those are the only breaks I've experienced...all on the same (dominant) hand. So, the upshot is, I'll be she of little words and many emoticons for a bit while I try to rest it a bit.

This time they have someone to pick me up, but apparently the guy drives like a Bat out of The Hot Place! So, my question is this: I've got a test in my Color Theory class on Wednesday of this week do I: A) Risk my life with a driver everyone else says I shouldn't trust, just so I can take a test. OR B) Stay home Wednesday, study some more, and take the test on Monday of NEXT week, when my regular driver is back.

Tuesday, 26 September 2006 16:24:49
I’ve been trying really hard to come up with something original to say about Firefly and Serenity. But gosh darn it all, there just ain’t nothing to say what ain’t already been said. So for my first blog entry here at Fireflyfans, I’ll keep it brief and sweet – just like Kaylee – and the show itself. This is actually the start of my third blog (oh crap my life is disappearing in a haze of entries) and so it won’t be updated very often or with much to say because it is so specific to Firefly and Serenity. I first watched Firefly after I bought the DVD set. I know, big help with the ratings I was . . . But you see, I don’t have cable, or satellite or any other form of piped-in TV and for that I’m thankful. I hate commercials as much as Mal hates the Alliance. :finger: So I avoid them completely, and that saves me about fifty bucks a month – which gets converted into DVD sets. One, of course, was Firefly. I knew from the pilot episode there was something special about it. And I was already familiar with Buffy and Toy Story so I knew Joss could write an awesome show. I was not wrong and I watched all the episodes over a period of about three days. My favourite character is Kaylee. She is the jewel of the show, and Canadian like me, so how can I not just be drawn to her? She is to Firefly what Alyson Hannigan is to Buffy. The reason I didn’t just trade in the discs for something else. And I even got to meet Jewel in Toronto this year at TT20. What an absolute sweetie. She showed me the bruises she had on her arms from filming The Tribe. The things actors do to bring us on-screen joy! When I got her autograph, I asked her is she liked dark chocolate. She gave me such a look of (duh, I’m a girl – and what planet did you just come from anyhow?) but in her sweet Jewel way. And for those who have met her in person you know what a stunningly beautiful creature she truly is. My gawd, I was looking at her thinking – how can she be so utterly cute? I mean how is this possible? And it wasn’t just me. My friend had the same reaction. So, for those who have not had a chance to meet Jewel in person yet – make it a mission. You will be impressed with her cool sweetness and her knockout good looks. Anyhow . . . . . . I handed her the chocolate bar and she, of course, smiled and looked all grateful. I love it when we mere fans can do some small thing to give back some of the joy these wonderful actors give to us in their performances. I can’t help wondering though if she actually ate it or threw it away or gave it to somebody else. One of those things I guess I will never know. Unless Jewel posts here and tells me of its fate . . . . . . hey, is that a pig I see flying over the ice in hell? Well, that’s going to be it for blog number 1. If I have any more Firefly or Serenity (or Joss creation related) stuff to write about I’ll come here and do my thing.

Yes, this is just a repost from several months ago, but since I don't think there is a way to choose which 'Blog' you want to display on the first page, I'm re-posting this here. So I don't have to preface every comment I make with - its my opinion and not meant to offend - I'm posting this here for anyone, and everyone, to read. First off, if I want to offend you, you'll damn well know it. I won't use pretty words, disguised within florid prose. I'll be blunt about it. When someone posts their work on a public forum that allows for comments, that author/designer needs to understand that they aren't always going to get responses that they want to hear. I'm a pretty blunt person. If I'm going to take the time to read/comment on something, I'm going to give my opinion and it may not always be praise. If I see something I disagree with, (and its usually characterization or spelling/punctuation) I'm damn well going to mention it. You don't have to agree with me, (and really I do love to debate subjects but not until there is nothing of the original topic left but bad and hurt feelings on one or both sides) but conversely you don't have the right to tell me my opinion doesn't matter. I always attempt to make sure my comments are made it in a polite way. It's possible to fail in that due to the unemotional nature of reading simple text on a screen. What I truly detest is when I, or someone else, makes a comment and then is sent a private message being attacked and flamed for that comment. Ever think you took that comment wrong? No. Probably not. Ever think, 'oh, maybe I shouldn't be so quick to be pissy with that person, maybe they're right? They're looking at this from a pov that isn't so adoringly close to the story.' Some wonder why people leave anonymous reviews. Huh. Perhaps those who want to shove their opinion rudely down someone's throat and who cowardly flame in private and kiss ass in public ought to re-think what they're doing. The above paragraph is no longer relevant for firefly fans . net but they are for other forums where Anon comments are still accepted. I like reviews, whether they are good or bad. It doesn't matter so long as they are constructive. I want people to point out if they think something is out of character. I may not agree, or I might. Maybe the reader can point out something I missed or didn't think of.

Just wanted to let anyone who is interested know that if you were waiting for an update on one of my stories, it isn't gonna come. At least not here. If you're interested in reading my stories you can find me under the name meimei42 on both Livejournal and fanfiction.net. The cross posting is getting a little much and I get the least amount of response here so I am cutting it out. There aren't a whole lot of people who dig what I write on this board anyway. So take care. Ps. my livejournal is friendlocked but the stories are viewable to the public. Take care! Dani

This is from a guy on my email list, he has never heard of firefly before and its awesome isnt it. I love it. Friend of mine, how we have grown The times have passed, went and gone over the past few years leaving memories of joy and tears You take my hand and hold it tight you see me through the darkest night While others laugh and call me weak you stand up, and turn the other cheek You push me forward, driving on giving me a reason just to push on This day is a new day, new victories to win Think about the future, you say, not whats been You take the bad dream, and bad thoughts aside though my life seem just like a bad thrill ride and drown out my worries with love and peace you take my chaos, and bring sweet relief You take my mouth, and give me words to say and when in doubt, you save the day For when i am at a loss, and my words just wont quip You filll the silence by carresing my lips You take my lost heart and guard it tight You take my dark soul and add the light You take my nothing and bring everything anew I just wanted to say I love you Jarid Earnest

I can not believe programs like Firefly get cancelled and programs like Survivor and Big brother continue season after season. It's typical however. When a truly unique and brilliant series like Firefly comes along, it takes a couple of years for the fan base to catch up with it. It is a shame it never got a real chance at success. I have seen all the episodes and the movie, and all I can say is....MORE!!!

When I attended my first Creative Writing class I became very fearful when I saw what we had to do. When I took Creative Writing in high school there wasn't much involved. You pretty much just showed up to class, though that was optional sometimes, and submitted the assignments. But for my university class we have to do these writing exercises and we're expected to give constructive feedback when we workshop a student's exercise. You also have to get your stuff workshopped, which was the one that scared me the most. I mean, I write stuff but I don't like sharing it, which is kind of strange when you think about it. Why write stories at all if you don't plan to show it to someone. So I finally gathered up the guts to get one of my exercises workshopped. Better to get it over with, right? And it wasn't that bad. The exercise of mine was one about dialogue; we had to write a scene and through the dialogue get across who the characters were. For the most part the class seemed to like it. There were some things people didn't quite like and I totally saw why. The main issue was with how natural my dialogue sounded. Some people thought it was pretty natural while some thought it sounded a little forced, like I was trying too hard to describe the characters (which I was but let's not go into that ). But it's the funniest thing, really. My writing is totally influenced by Joss; he's the reason I got into writing in the first place. But while his writing is the most awesome-st there is out there, we all know it's not natural. His characters exist in worlds that don't exist. So when people say my dialogue doesn't sound natural, it's true, but at the same time, it is natural because my characters end up really meaning what they're saying even if they're using words and phrasing that aren't common. That's Joss' influence. His characters aren't fake people; they could be any person out in the world, they just happen to talk a little different. Though I have to acknowledge that I do have to change, or try something different. The class isn't going to be familiar with Joss-isms so I really can't rely on that way of speaking. On the up side, I sort of squashed my fear of sharing my work. But the one downfall is the fact that the classroom is a safe environment. All 17 of us are in the same boat. I may be comfortable sharing with my fellow classmates but I still have to get over my issues with posting my fics. But I still have the rest of the year. We'll see in May whether my irrational fear goes away.

Just a little plug for an Anti-virus program I found & have been using for about a month now... It's called NOD32 --- www.nod32.com -- and so far it's done wonders. I had just purchased Spyware Doctor 4.0, supposedly one of the best AV progs out there, and it did catch a grip of stuff -- but I was having problems with some pesky Trojans that Spyware Dr would find and delete, but they just kept coming back every time. So a friend recommended NOD32 and said loads of corporations used it, but that it wasn't widely known outside the IT community. All I know is, I ran the bugger and it found spyware and other junk embedded in my PC that no other program ever found. plus the NOD32 actualy removed them all -- even those Trojans the Spyware Dr couldn't. So I'm a fan. They give you a free 30-day trial which will at least clean out your computer for you for free. Stay Shiny.

So I had to watch The Message last night with the commentary on with Jewel and Alan. What a hoot. I just love listening to the actors go on about the behind the scenes antics, good times and giggle sessions while they were filming. It’s a window into a world I can only dream about being in. And does it ever sound like a heck of a lot of fun. But so few actors make it onto a quality show and share a camaraderie like the one I was listening to on this commentary. Jewel and Alan were making fun of continuity screw-ups - Jayne’s hat mostly and the straw. Straw on - straw off. Alan saw that one. They talked about how Nathan was totally cracking them up during filming and how Tim didn’t mind since it was the last show. And I got a sense of the heartbreak once the show was winding down for Jewel and Alan. Man that must be tough to have lived and breathed such fun for months only to have the rug pulled out from under you. Some day, I would love to be part of something like that . . . And being here, well, that’s like sharing a small part of something grand already. Anyhow, if you haven’t listened to that episode’s commentary. What are you waiting for? Great insider stuff. And if you have, well, just listen to it again!

Our oldest (5 years) are litter-mates (2 of 8, as opposed to 7 of 9...) Shiloh and Sully, Lab/Sheperd mix with hints of Chow tossed in for good meassure. Shiloh looks like a Champion Black Lab, sleek and seal-like, spot of white on his chest but his his tail curls up tight in a very un-Lab-like way. Brother Sully is WAAAAY more to the Shepherd end of things, all black and tan and a Zorro mask. Chow attribute? A black spot on his tongue. Slade is the 65 pounder. At a mere 3 years, he's absolutely the smartest thing on four legs ever. I keep having to remind myself he is not a human. (I get surprised when I talk to him and he doesn't answer...) Lab/Pitbull mix. The pet store (I know, I know; but I look at it as a rescue) said Lab/Aussie Shep/ROTTWEILER. Pretty sure they got their killer dogs mixed up on that one. Heart of a terrier in a mini-Shiloh body minus the curly tail. Incidently, in a fair fight, he could take out any two of the others at the same time. And any unarmed spectator within reach. Lucky for us, he is as tenderheart sensitive as you can be. Two year old Captain Jack is a pure bred German Shepherd Dog. There's a lot of dialog between Sully and him about who's really in charge, but Sully's got about 15 lbs. on him and the division of labor is that Sully gets to be the food Nazi and door guard, perimeter checks and foreign invader clearence fall to Captain. The baby, just over a year old, of Yellow Lab mom and dubious paternity, is Sir Donatello (the artist not the Ninja Turtle). He's gregarious. He's loving. He's guileless. He's completely devoted and dependent on me. He's totally self-absorbed. He has way too much skin and I'm pretty sure he's our biggest. And he was raised almost single handedly by Captain Jack. I'm waiting on the bus that is supposed to take me to College in Prince Fredrick, only when the bus comes he flies right by without even thinking of stopping! He RUTTIN' LEFT ME! I HAVE to get my parents to get in the car with me to teach me how to drive across the bridge, so I can do it on my own! By the way, I'm home now 'cause I had the bus that dropped me off, pick me back up.

Hey all! Yes yes, I'm a newbie to this site but hey! What can I say? It just took me forever to remember to register on here, and then my cousin reminded me earlier. She told me that this is a great place to meet awesome Browncoats! Let's face it, I live in an area and go to a school where I'm like the only Browncoat. :'( It makes me sad. But anywho! All I can say is that I love Firefly. I can't express how much, but I can sure try!!! ^_^ Anyway... I'll give you more information if you want it... Heh. I don't feel like typing a lot right now! XD Shiny!!

How is it that a science fiction show as absolutely fantastic as Firefly could be sucking wind from seven other upstart TV shows in the best ever TV shows poll? :disappointed: Perhaps it is because not enough Firefly addicts know about this voting site and how to make our voices (or votes) heard? This is a small rally cry. Come on browncoats, let’s trounce these seven imposters. Follow this link below and make it happen.

While checking my e-mails, i was insprited to write my 'Comeing to terms' story, about me being gay. And since it was very emotionalfor me and some people want to read who wherent on the youthguard e-mail list. So here it is... I was never 'normal', but i always, and still do, believed in god and went to church even though it bored me. When i was like 11 (pointing out i hit puberity early and was full height, a C cup by then) I was the perfect guy friend, i was dirty half the time, into sports, sci-fi, smart, and even dressed more like a guy (except for the shoulder length horrible curlly hair i grew then, i went back to my moms pixie cuts and then started getting my hair buzzed in the back) and i started looking at girls. It didnt seem weird to me. Half the girls i knew went through 'i have a crush on whats-her-name' phases, hell kissing each other was a favorite pass time, and then I grew up, and they stoped having those crushes and i didnt. And it still didnt register as different. Then i discovered Nancy Garden and it hit me, I didnt want a husband, i want to be married, to have children, I wanted to be a better mixture of my parents, But i was with another women in every one of my fantasys. In fact we had this project in church once where we had to write what we thought we would be like when where 30, and right away popped in to my mind was me driving with my daughters and sons to church and a woman sitting next to me, in love with me, me in love with her. I of course didnt write that i wrote her as a man, because it didnt seem right to be thinking of a woman. When i was 14 i started falling, become depressed, hating myself, and at 15 i was still depressed but i was willing to admit i was attracted to women but not that i was gay. When i changed schools, got out of the perfect linage rutt, away from my gay friends, my straight friends, my family members.... I took a good hard look at myself and i knew it... I knew that under the scars where i had taken out my hate and frustaition on myself, my unhealthy need to over eat, I WAS GAY, and what surprised me was, i was at peace. I loved myself suddenly. Though that didnt cure everything, By that time i had had one bad boyfriend (tryed to push me into sex, so freaking happy i resisted) one girl(wouldn't say girlfriend more like sex buddy) and i still cut. i became more and more comfortable with myself and really found myself content... and then i meet Eric. And i feel in love, and i learned somethign about myself... The merr thought of sex with a man pushed me in to a panic and being actually involved in anything relating to sex brought on a panic attack. Despite all the bad that came from it, Eric was a good thing. He stopped my cutting, i mutured more, and i realised that being gay didnt mean i would only find women attractive (point in place my unnatural attraction to anthony stewert head... omg wow...). But he was about 4 yeard older than me, and an alcoholic, and he litterly left me, just one day up and left me with out another word, and crushed me. and well... me just going on, no friends... no personal life... and then, serenity came out, and i discovered other browncoats.... and i felt like a belonged, because not only did they not care that i was gay ( i was very open and up front with that because im a terrible flirt, i flirt with just about everyone with out noticing, and i have wound up in bad places with guys because of it and be being out to them makes it easier) and through them I meet Elizabeth. She breaks my heart and makes me feel ... fixed. She is my.. me.. too young for me so i have strict rules... and we still have things to fight about... but I love her... I love her so much. And even if we dont have a future because she doesnt want the one thing i would be willing to complete loose my family for, thats a wonder place to be, thats a wonderful thing to feel.... and god for the first time since i was 8 and i was babtized and got my special scriptutes, I feel like a real human being, and i am happy and i am content. I still have some things to work

Well, todays the day that I leave FireflyFans.net. I had a WONDERFUL time here and I hope that I'm able to come back soon. The chatroom will be open tonight and I'm looking forward to seeing many people there! As for the past few days: Nothing big at all. I did my PT test, have been working out with the Marines, did my PQS (a quiz) and I'm all ready to go. I'm so excited! I'm going to try and become an APOC at boot camp, which is the guy who will be in charge of his platoon and making sure everything is squared away. It will benefit me in advancement opportunities and will help me learn leadership skills for the future. I hope I can get it. Anywho, everything else has been slow, yet shiny. I recently went to a Hindu palace (Buddhism has Hindu roots) and also went to a prison just cause it was in the area. The palace wasn't all to great in appearance, cause many things looked to be made of plaster and foam, yet people were there to pray, live, and worship. I learned a mantra. The thoughts were pure, however, so I have to give them that. Well, that's about it. I hope my fellow Browncoats have been well. If anyone would like it, here's my Yahoo! Instant Messenger screenname: forever_yorik[at]yahoo.com

No, not our BD Heroes, but the new TV show. It is awesome and a little creepy. Basically normal people are finding out they have "powers". It's not like our favorite show, but it is very character driven. This is the first television show in years that has captured my interest and while it's on it has my undivided attention (the last one being in 2002....hmmm, wonder what that was ). I just seriously hope it's not like most of my favorite shows and gets cancelled in the first or second season.

OK, I've only just started watching Firefly but already I have all kinds of merchandise. I bought the show, the movie, both soundtracks, both visual companions, the novelization of the movie, and the graphic novel. So, I'm trying to decide what I should buy on Saturday for the BDM 'Versary. So far, I've had no ideas. Well, this is great...

The character from BtVS called Faith comes to mind as I write this mini-blog. At this very moment because I feel like the Faith character in relations to this forum of Fireflyfan.net. On BtVS Faith shows up, befriends Buffy and the Scoobies and then go forth to fight the evils of the night only that we start right off to see that there is something wrong with her, but we put our suspicions aside because she is after all a Slayer. Later on she's trying to get Buffy to loosen up a little and be a bad girl and before you know it Faith is killing humans, and is totally drunk with the power that comes with having the abilities of a Slayer. Faith had clearly chosen a path that would, in the long run would bring her to destruction. Later, after having been in prison, we see Faith again in action but this time she actually trying to do the right thing. She actually tries to be what she was called to be; a Slayer fighting for good. This is me in relations to this board. I am Faith that did all the wrong things, made people hate me because of the things that I did, and said. Made people not want to talk to me, or interact with me because I was crazy or imbalanced, or insane, or just a totally insensitive bitch that seemed to like hurting other people. This is fine. This is what I deserve based on my actions of the past. I would not expect anything less, and it is okay, but you who are reading this should at least consider that some people deserve a 2nd chance. I do deserve a 2nd chance. I may have an ill view towards myself and the universe, but I also have to acknowledge that when smoke clears I am fighting on the side of good no matter how I try to twist it. I am a good person, and I will have no one tell me anything different. I grew up listening to people telling me I was bad and I stupidly believed them, but no more. The best thing for some of you is if you don't have anything good to say to me don't say anything at all because I don't want to read your negative crap. What's good about this board is that I don't have to bond with all of the old people here who do have a valid problem with me. I can bond with the new people, so I'm not asking for the forgiveness of the older members of this board; matter of fact I'm not asking for forgiveness at all, but I do recognize that my actions of the past was not a very good thing; I have issues that I a very much aware of, and am working on them. I have to let go of trying to gain the attention of the old-timers here on Fireflyfan.net and make them irrelevant to my interactions with other people here on this board who don't know me and therefore will interact with me; This is a good thing. I'm here on this board for Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm here to talk about episodes and sci-fi. I'm here to share pictures, video, and music. I am also here to chat. Anything beyond that is a waste of my time. All the old timers and people I knew a few months ago cease to exist in my mind and I shall not respond to anything they have to say, but all the new people I gladly will interact with. Sometimes the best victories in life come down to knowing when you were wrong and righting it yourself and moving on even if you are looked down on by others. It makes me that much stronger. I really like being me. -River

Sorry to clog up the fic list, but I've a bunch of drabbles I haven't posted here yet, so I thought I'd start with the three I just wrote. I'm taking some time to write some fun, completely uncomplicated little things, just to clear my head and relax a bit. I've got a few more to post later, four I think, that I haven't put up here yet, so more to come! And Part 13 C for Choices is well under way... My goal is to finish the entire thing by November (one whole year to write a story!! sheesh), so keep an eye out for 13C and the epilogue this month! Shiny day, all!

As I assume many people know already, I have to tell everyone about the greatest fanfiction series that I have ever read. Now to understand the gravity of that statement, then I have to tell you that I've been reading these things for a few years now and I've come across some purely excellent ones, from Buffy and Angel fics and now with Firefly It takes place after the BDM and it's gorram briliant. "A New Life", "A New Beginning" and "A New Day" written by TamSibling are without a dout the best fanfics I have ever seen and I wanted to tell it somewhere that everyone could see and not just in some feedback for the writter. It has every genres in it you can think of. From tearjerkering romanc, to edge of your seat action, to heart warming and giddy fluff, to chest clenching angst, to side splitting humor and some sentements that can really touch you deep down and keep you hooked. If you haven't already, then you have to check this series out.

I brought up this subject matter on another board not too long ago and I thought I would share my thoughts on it here with some adjustments. Those three nerds that were giving Buffy and the scoobies grief on BtVS were actually some pretty good characters. Good characters to the point where I seriously believe that some of the stories with them could have carried BtVS straight into season 9. These characters were used as a wasted resource by the writers. These characters could have added new dimensions to the show. What really bothers me about Warren and the other nerds is the fact that they were brilliant, brilliant to the point where they could have made a large amount of money with their inventions that they could have been rich beyond their dreams. Also, if they wanted a taste of fighting the big bad, they could have offered their services to Buffy and the Scoobies. Buffy would have never had to worry about money, so there would have been no stupid Double Meat Palace episodes. Between Buffy and the Scoobies and tech support from the nerds, Buffy and her group would have been a serious force to be reckoned with more so than the team that Buffy had in the show. Two Slayers, two powerful Witches, Two Vampires with a soul, a Vengeance Demon, and Tech Nerds with clever inventions, spells, and money...Buffy's group could have dealt some serious damage, and Tara would still be alive. Matter of fact with this group, the whole deal with Glory and the key would have been easier to deal with. With the Nerds, Buffy might not have had to sacrifice herself in the episode called "The Gift." But no, the writers saw fit to making the nerds idiots, and then having Warren shoot Buffy, killing Tara and putting an end to any real use of these talented guys in which they could have placed a tech-spin in the Buffyverse benefiting our heroes in a positive way. Come on, I personally think an invisible Slayer would have make a smash hit in the demon world. Or a Slayer wielding a freeze gun??? Buffy would have seriously kicked some royal ass with these technologies. Wasted talent and resources don't you just hate that? -River

ok, so yesterday (29th September) wasn't the greatest day ever. There were pretty much two small highlights in an other wise crappy day (and when one of those events was buying a poster, you can see it stank). I wanted to change one of my modules for university. I was supposed to be doing Religion in politics and society in Britain 800-1066 but this new module came up on the Jarrow Crusade; which looked really cool, so i decided to switch. I went to uni as early as i could so i wouldn't have to wait long and instead i spent TWO hours standing in a corridor in the school of historical studies. I did get onto the module which was cool but i was dead on my feet by the time i left. Ok, so onto the poster, the second highlight of my day. I actually found a Serenity poster in HMV, which was cool. I also bought Scrubs season 4 too. That is where my good day ended. I got the X27 bus home; which is supposed to go to Wheatley Hill, but instead went straight from Shotton to Wingate. I don't care if he asked everyone if they wanted to go to Wheatley Hill (which i didn't hear) he should have gone there anyway because it is on the route! I had to stand in Wingate for nearly an hour to get the 214 to Peterlee to get the 213 home because Arriva has stopped the 3:20 22 between Hartlepool and Durham. That is the end of my rant. Well, thats over.. Been dating this girl for about two months now and last night we had a talk and she told me she didnt feel the same way about me as I do about her. We talked things over though and were still very good friends, wich is good. But it would have been nice to have something more again... Sometimes things just dont work out as we want them to. And it was great to be in love again, if only for a while. Guess ill have to go back to the whole lonely thing now, atleast untill I find someone else.. Ill bounce back, always do. Always will.

Our Homecoming dance is in two hours. Yesterday was the game, which we lost :disappointed: but I really don't care about football that much, I just went to see my friends from the other school. I'm going to wear a black/emerald green dress and a black chain choker with jewels on it. We're driving my three best friends there, and we're going to have sparkling cider. And of course, my parents are going to take many unnessecary pictures. As much fun as this is going to be, I'm probably going to spend a portion of the night feeling depressed, since a week ago my boyfriend told me he didn't want to go to Homecoming with me. Then he dumped me. So I suspect that during the dance I'll be having flashbacks of our best moments together that I'm just trying to forget.

My friend from space camp has this video in some NASA contest and the prize is a free trip to NASA to watch the shuttle launch as a V.I.P. Anyway, she really really wants it and she really is the biggest NASA geek ever (that's a good thing). So if you are bored, head to the website

No post. I have not posted here in quite some time. I've read the odd blog, and seen many an image (MPhilips has done spectacular sketches). I've seen quite a few people open up on blogs here. It's different, but not in a bad way. Anyways, I may start posting again, depending. Icarus out.

I already posted a thread in the forum about this but a new TV station has started called The CW. They have a few good shows like "Smallville" on but mostly reruns. They also brought back "Seventh Heaven" for those who care. I only bring that up to show that there is hope for "Firefly." Hey, who has the rights to "Firefly." Does Fox have them still or did Joss Whedon or someone else get a hold of them. That is important information to have on bringing the show back. This is my quest, join me.
