6ixStringJack: Can you take your back pillow and sit with it against the wall on the floor while doing your writing for now until you can get help moving the bed? I hate to hear you struggling with your neck like that, but I think until you get help moving that bed you need to figure out something better than what you're doing in the meantime. Don't want to do any lasting damage to the neck for sure. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.25 02:16
THG: Walk outside and pick up a stick

Brenda: I've got a cane THG. Just not sure I want to ruin it. I got it cheap for around $20 CAD a number of years ago. Only use it in winter and I don't feel like buying another one. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 23:23
Brenda: I wish too. Oh, I will it just might take me a bit longer. Oh, I've done things like that manys a time to different body parts. Hands, fingers, arms, neck. My neck is why I have to sort the bed out. My neck has been so out of whack it isn't funny. Everytime I rotate it, I get a really nice cracking sound but then ow!. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 23:21
6ixStringJack: We just assume the worst out of you, Ted. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 22:59
THG: Use a stick for leverage. The cane is a stick - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 18:00
6ixStringJack: Wish I was close and could help out. We'd get you set up right. I'm sure you'll get it all taken care of soon.

Man... I did something to my off-hand wrist in the last 5 or so hours. I don't even know what. It was while I was out shopping, and now I move it the wrong way and there's just shooting pain almost up to my elbow. I must have slept on it wrong and then pulled something while I'm Herculesing my stuff inside instead of taking 2 trips. I'm sure all this constant typing isn't helping. If I'm not typing on my computer to work, I'm taking a break and typing here. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 09:52
Brenda: I'm not that old THG and my family's mobility stays good. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 09:25
Brenda: I am going to try and get to talk to the person tomorrow. I hope they can help me again. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 09:24
Brenda: I should be able to use a crowbar if I can find one. No luck today but I will look again tomorrow. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.24 09:23

6ixStringJack: I hope you can get the person who helped back to help move it back soon. I really think that's your best option. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.23 12:26
6ixStringJack: Don't even know what a crowbar would go for these days since it's been years since I bought one. If you went that route, I think you'd need a big one at least 2 to 3ft long, and you'd need to put something under it to protect the floor and probably at the crow end of it to protect your bedframe (maybe not since it's metal... that's really up to you). But you'd still have to figure out how to safely put enough weight on the other end of the crowbar while also being able to slip the plate under the leg. I don't know how nimble you are these days, and I'd hate to be recommending anything to you that could get you hurt. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.23 12:25
Brenda: Yeah, I think you are right. Have to see if I can get the person who helped me correct a mistake I made putting the frame together, can come by again. I hate metal frames. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.23 00:28
Brenda: No, I am sure it isn't. But there must be a cheap kind of bar I can get somewhere for this type of grunt work. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.23 00:27
Brenda: Yeah, I was thinking about leverage after my first attempt yesterday. Looking around at what I can use. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.23 00:26

6ixStringJack: Getting help is going to be your easiest way if you can't lift a corner on your own for sure. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 10:48
6ixStringJack: Google's not much help on this one. They say to get a helper, or use a crowbar, or buy an expensive furniture lifter that you'd only use this one time. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 10:48
6ixStringJack: Ted's idea of leverage might help you out with that one. I'm wondering how we can rig something up that you could leverage each leg up while also being able to kick a plate under it. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 10:47
Brenda: I gotcha. Just have to take another run at it. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 08:52
Brenda: Sorry, I meant that I can't lift the legs onto the plates. They are pretty low and it is awkward. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 08:51
6ixStringJack: Once you've got the plates under each leg, you should have a much easier time pushing the whole bed, even if just bit by bit. That way you don't have small legs or wheels that are buried in the fabric and you've got the entire surface area of each plate redistributing the weight onto a much larger surface at each corner. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 07:42
6ixStringJack: I mean lift each corner leg onto a plate. If you were going to push them onto the plate, you could just push the bed into the wall without them. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 07:40

Brenda: Got the plastic plates but not enough muscle to move the whole thing onto them. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.22 04:01
Brenda: Nope, no magazines. I will have to try the bowls or plates. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.21 22:57
Brenda: Nothing plastic in my kitchen but I 'm relatively sure I could get some when I am out. Today in the rain after washing. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.21 22:56
6ixStringJack: You could even try glossy magazines if you've got them lying around, but you'd want to make sure the bindings were facing toward the wall when you put them under the feet, and you should be willing to part with them because you'd probably shred them up getting the job done. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.21 10:09
6ixStringJack: Just thought of something. How about any plates or bowls in your kitchen??? Plastic, not glass.

If you could get them underneath your legs, you should have an easy go of it. But you'd want plates/bowls that are completely smooth on the bottom, and not those with an elevated circle lip/ring, otherwise it would defeat the purpose of enlarging the surface area. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.21 09:54
Brenda: Hopefully, I will. Couldn't seem to find what you are talking about. I just tried with my hands and shoulder. I could get it to move to the left but not forward. I tried from the end of the bed and it wouldn't move forward at all. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.21 09:43
6ixStringJack: Yeah. Make that time to see her if you can.

Did you try buying those foot pads, or you just tried bumping it on the carpet again? - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.21 06:35
Brenda: Mission not accomplished. Got the bed to move a little bit sideways using shoulder and hands. But no way is it going forward with out some help. Have to have a think on who I can ask. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.21 03:52
Brenda: Mission today to try and move my bed. I am sick and tired of not being able to do any writing or reading in bed.

- http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.20 23:56
Brenda: Yeah, I know I should. I've been there and done that over my dad's oldest sister. No one told us that she was gone and we should have called her ages before but we never did. Still miss the lady. But then I don't know the last time we called and I talked to her. I was talking to the cancer, not here. She was saying how tired she was and she couldn't stay on the phone. It was really sad. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.20 23:54
Brenda: That photo I think was taken in Ireland my mum wouldn't have known who it was related to us. Her family is long gone, so no one to contact there. And I never really saw the photos from her family when she was alive and I doubt she really knew who the people were. Happens when you loose touch. Her aunt, my great aunt came up when I was in high school and gave me some verbal information that I wrote down and still have. It's not much but still better than nothing. The three I have over a hundred years old are my grandfather, one with his sister and one of a cousin of his. All were taken in Scotland before he left. They have the address of the studios they were taken at. I looked up the address for fun. They are long gone now. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.20 23:52
6ixStringJack: Yeah. You really should try to do a meet up or two now while you still can. I know from experience how time can easily slip away from you and then it's just too late to do anything about it. I just found out an aunt who I was really close to years back had recently died of cancer. They weren't even part of any family drama, but since we lived so far away from each other and the rest of our family just kind of scattered like the wind, we'd lost touch. I hadn't talked to her in over 10 years and kinda been beating myself up about that one the last few weeks. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.20 10:12
6ixStringJack: Yeah... It's a shame that you don't know who they are. I know at one point I'd gone through some of them with my grandma and by that point even she didn't know who a lot of those people are. Some of those photos are extremely old too. Like old, old, old... I'm assuming many of them were not even taken in America and they came on whatever boats took my ancestors here. At this point, I don't know if we even could figure out the answer to exactly which side of the family a lot of these came from. My grandma's or my grandpas (or even her first husband's, who died before I was born). - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.20 10:09
Brenda: I should try and get my friend to arrange something. At least at the care home she is in. That would be the easiest. That's one thing my friend knows how much I love her mum. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.20 03:58
Brenda: That is good and that is what you have to remember. It is a shame you never got to go through the family photos with your grandmother. Those photos are precious too. My dad's side I can identify the older ones and I mean old. I am talking over a hundred years old. The ones I have of my mum's side are harder. I have one photo that must have been tintype because it actually has some weight to it. It's from my mum's side and it was taken I am fairly sure in Ireland. A group of men sitting by a small stone wall. Couldn't tell you which man is related to me. That information is lost. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.20 03:56
6ixStringJack: If you don't think you'd get a lot of push back for whatever reason, you should try to make the meetup happen sooner than later. My friend was being real possessive of his dad in those final days and even though I made it known that I wanted to go there and say my goodbyes he didn't want anybody to see his dad like that. I did get to talk to him on the phone one last time though, and I realized why he was doing it. That conversation was for me and not for him. Forget about whatever he looked like at that point, but I don't think his dad really wanted anybody to even hear him like that. He was the kind of guy who would have been annoyed that we had a funeral for him where people were crying and we didn't have a huge party in his honor instead. Really good man. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.19 10:58
6ixStringJack: Yeah. You're right. We had a lot of time together. She took me in when I needed help and I'll never forget that. I'm glad that the last few years we got together every month or two with my aunt. Just never made time to go over there and do things like go through all those old family photographs with her. My aunt has all of that now, and I"d bet if we ever went through it half of those photos we wouldn't even be able to identify now without her. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.19 10:54
Brenda: She brought her over to her place a year ago in the summer and me and another friend went there and visited with her mum. But she was able to get around more then. Her mum did have a phone in her room but she had to have it taken out. She is forgetting a lot of stuff now, mostly in a wheelchair. Like a while ago she started forgetting to eat. Maybe one of these days I will talk to my friend and see about seeing her. She still remembers people as I said. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.18 23:25
Brenda: When a loved one gets sick and then they die. We all wish that things had been different. You can tie yourself in knots with the what ifs. I know I've done it. Not so much over my mum but maybe some over my dad and sure as shooting over myself. That's why say you have to treasure the time you had with your grandmother. But I am sorry that you didn't get to spend all the time you wanted with her. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.18 23:22
6ixStringJack: Is there any way you can see your friend's mom or at least talk to her now? - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.18 09:47
6ixStringJack: Honestly, I had no clue that the morphine in a bottle would do that to her either, or despite what I could have lost I would have fought it a lot harder than I did. I was only fighting for her because she didn't want the drugs. I didn't know that it would kill her within a matter of days. I don't blame my family for it. I just wish things had gone different is all. She'd be gone by now almost certainly, but at least I would have been able to spend some more time with her in the end, and did some of the things I wish I took the time to do when she was still alive. I thought I still had 6 months to a year to do those things, but really it was less than 24 hours before they put her on that dose and it was over. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.18 09:45
Brenda: We were. She became like a second mother to me after my own passed. I know what you mean about people keeping serious things like that to themselves. I've known people like that. Now, as I said I just dread at times talking to my friend. It hurts to hear how her mum has gone down hill in the last while. She still remembers people including me. But that day will come. I think my friend's brother wants to keep me from knowing when her mum passes. But she said one time I will be told about it. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.18 05:32
Brenda: Don't I know that. They would say "Oh, we will take care of your mum." And I think riiiiight. You'd get her to all her doctor's appointments and make sure her meds were all up to date. I just finally started ignoring them. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.18 05:27
Brenda: Well, you know what they say hindsight is 20/20. And if they didn't know or understand about these drugs, not really their faults. It's just a shame that your grandmother had to go like that. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.18 05:24
6ixStringJack: Sorry to hear about your friend's mom. Sounds like you guys are pretty tight. That's how it was with my friend's dad. I spent more time with him than either of his sons the last few years of his life. I feel bad for my buddy because his life was nothing but chaos at the time and he didn't spend nearly enough time with his dad. But nobody knew that it was happening except for his dad, who kept all of that to himself until he got the bad news that it was terminal. He'd been living with cancer for years and taking care of it without even letting his family know about the diagnosis. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 06.17 12:33
