Not so much blocked as exhausted from work. I want to write, but it's like squeezing blood from a gorram turnip. And what does come out isn't good. Sad, too. My favorite scene from Passenger Book 2 is coming up and I just can't get to it. :banghead:

Because it's Samhain, I decided to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I just finished  Man I forgot a lot, and I mean a lot. It was like watching it for the first time. Been too long I guess. At any rate, its gotten me in a better mood and more relaxed. This was definitely needed. Me being a big ball of stress lately and all. Here's hoping it stays that way  Hope you all had a good (or better) time too

I noticed that after the release of the BDM there were scores of converts rushing to see Firefly. People who found something good and were left wantin' more. These same people, after finishin' the episodes, realized there was a new part of their life, a part that wouldn't leave 'em. The searched for a way to get closer to the characters that had grown on 'em. The found this site and us, people like them. A place where they could be a part of something greater. These people began posting about the pain of not having anymore of something so good. Asking questions like whether or not it got better. Well, I am here to offer what words of comfort I can. It doesn't get any better. There are ways to ease it, such as this site or watching the episodes, but not better. Just know this, we're here to stay. We're all glad you have arrived. Welcome to our world.

My apologies for this before I begin. It is now 1:30 AM and I am back at my room in my fraternity house. For those of you who don't know,Which is most likely everyone seeing as I haven't posted here ever, I live in my fraternity house. Well I just got back from my annual Halloween party which got busted by the police (the sign of a truly great party). I went all gussied up as Jayne, hat, blue sun shirt, and all. Well I seemed to have piqued the interest of at least a few people, who came and asked me about my get up. I explained the 'verse to them and they seemed genuinely interested. Well at least I think they were. The punch was flowing like mudder's milk at a Jayneday Celebration. So as I write this I am in a good mood, pretty much libation induced, but good none the less. Sorry for this ramble, especially form a long time lurker, at least I think that is the term. I said i would start posting to myself a while back, but well here I go. Sorry for the inhibited typing, but you know how these things go. TheKnight

Ok So last week i decided to boycott tescos cause of the evil home delivery service, but thats a whole other story and yesterday im told that they are doing a huge campaign and backing Little Hearts Matter, which is a charity for children with specific Congentital Heart Disease, mainly single ventricle hearts, (where the child only has half a heart, so 2 chambers instead of 4, one ventricle instead of 2) which indeed is what my daughter Chloe has, Almost all *little hearts* go on to have Heart and Lung transplants and an astounding 65% of these children pass away before they are teenagers, because of lack of donation, lack of facilitys and lack of research into finding alternative temporary solutions until a heart and lungs are available. LHM, provides information, support and valuble resources for familys and children affected by CHD. Chloe is one of those little hearts who will need transplantation, she has now had all the surgery available to her, she is 6......its hoped she will be able to hang on until she is a teenager so she can recieve an adult heart. but everyone is very aware of the thin line there. My point is this, many people associate heart problems with adults, people who take care of themselves, but it can affect perfectly normal children too, they are born with it, some have minor problems requireing no surgery, some have major problems requireing various stages of surgery and management. Awareness needs to be raised, and Tescos are now helping us to do that, Kudos to them. Feb 14 (yes valentines day) is CHD (congenital heart disease) awareness day all around the world. That was my serious moment of the week

Today I was in the video store and there, looking out from the cover of a video, is Chiwetel Ejiofor (how is his name pronounced??). Huh?? I acutally did a double take. SO, I pick up melinda and melinda, a movie written and directed by Woody Allen. I will admit it freely. I am not a Woody Allen fan. With the exception of "Bullets over Broadway," thanks mostly to Chaz Palminteri and Dianne Wiest, his films have just not done "it" for me. Anyway, back to today. I'd seen bits of a preview for melinda and melinds and had not considered renting the movie. Then I found out it was Woody Allen and I really didn't consider renting it. But, there's Chiwetel Ejiofor! Aaaargh. I thought his portrail of The Operative was mesmerizing. Sure, it was Joss' writing, but Chiwetel was increadible. So, I picked up the movie. When I was leaving, the employee warned me it's an odd movie. Great! :crap: I made sure to tell her I was getting it because of Chiwetel and not because it's a Woody Allen film. (She looked at me a little funny, but then I'm used to that.) So, later today I will be subjecting myself to a Woody Allen film, all thanks to Serenity.

Today, I read another article on LOST and its expanding mythology. And I was thinking about LOST and other shows similar to it, and it really got me thinking about something. I like LOST. I enjoy watching it on a weekly basis and the mysterys that it slowly uncovers and stuff like that. But I don't think it's "THE GREATEST TV SHOW EVER CREATED" like so many people claim it is. I am always dubious about any "greatest" claims for a show that's less than a few years old. And I think there's one thing that LOST severely lacks in that, in my mind anyways, keeps it from attaining such great heights. Humor. There is very little humor in this show. Occassionally it come along, but in a highly understated way. Most of the time, it's all stern um drag, tortured souls, flashbacks and a glacial like pace. Now, I love that the show takes it's time in unraveling everything about the island and the characters. But I would like it more if Hugo, who was always intended to be comic relief, was less "I'm cursed because of the #'s" and more "Let's play golf, dude." The ep where they played golf in that open stretch of land was such a welcome relief to the metaphysical "hark, there is evil afoot." goings on with the show. So it's this humorless take on the proceedings that, IMHO, hinder the show rather than make it fly. In comparison, FIREFLY is ripe in humor. Joss Whedon understands how crucial humor is to something this big in scale, silly in concept and serious in delivery. There are too many moments in FIREFLY that really show off a sense of humor about the whole thing, which keeps the show from getting depressing with the River angle. But my fave show that I love to compare LOST to is 24. 24 was busting tv conventions long before LOST. And I'd prefer a 24 marathon as opposed to a LOST marathon because of pacing and timing. LOST has loads of time to figure everything out. But in 24, time is a luxury no one has, so the action and the plots are constantly moving without getting bogged down in navel gazing, which is something LOST continually runs the risk of happening. Does anyone agree with me in that LOST isn't all that's cracked up to be, mainly because of a lack of humor?

My ipod crashed while I was listening to the signal. I am without podcasts and music until further notice. As a result I am walking around in circles and tapping my head repeatedly with a spoon.

So, I wake up this morning and go through the usual stuff of dragging my lazy butt out of bed, etc. Then I look at the clock and think, my god, I'm going to be early today! This never happens. But then, as I was about to leave, it hit me. OpenBSD 3.8 is released to day. Oh, happy day  So, I walked into my room and gave wget the mission to download it. Both macppc and i386 is down; backups have started. Soon it will be installed and the fun of compiling and setup begins. I'm giddy! Well, as much as a 28 year old male can be ;)

*sigh* I got to see the screener, and saw it in theaters twice. If I wasn't poor I'd buy out a theater for a day and make all my friend come watch it with me. Not that I have enough friends to actually fill said theater, but still. Love the movie, many warm fuzzies to Joss. Even if he doesn't read this, he still gets warm fuzzies. Twice as many to my boyfriend, though, since he got me into the screener and to the theater both times to see the final version. Yay boyfriend!

Okay, so people asked and my brain finally caved in (there must have been too much snow on the roof...). Are you all happy? There's a sequel in the works. A naughty, naughty sequel. But a tease, for those who care... *~*~*~*~*~* “Hey sweetie.” Oh, gorram, when did Inara’s voice get so loud? It sounds almost as if she’s tryin’ to be all nice and sympathetic, but Kaylee just can’t stop the pounding in her head and it all comes back to her how and why she fell asleep in the hammock with Jayne. “Mornin’, little Kaylee!” Oh, for the love of… Mal’s hand slaps her hard on her shoulder and she has to close her eyes to stop her tummy lurchin’ like the ship lost the grav cycle. “How you feeling today?” “I…” Stop being so gorram cheerful you hundan mother of a jumped up… “… I’m just shiny Captain.” “Mal.” She hears Inara chide and wants to say thanks for it, but she’s having enough trouble finding the kettle. “Leave the poor girl alone.” “What?” His innocent voice ain’t fooling anyone, least of all Kaylee. “I was just havin’ some fun. Oh, wait no… that’s right, there’s no fun on this ship is there, Kaylee?” “Huh?” She peers at him across the kitchen as Zoe walks in and she hears the distinct chuckle of Wash hiding behind his wife. “Don’t listen to him, Kaylee.” Zoe, at least, sounds just normal. She takes the cup in her hand, it’s all warm and she thinks maybe her hands got frozen or some such, ‘cause the heat just feels too good against her skin, she wants to crawl inside the mug and stay there all morning. Somehow, and she’s not sure exactly how, she makes it to the table. “Wash.” Mal warns, voice too deep to be serious. “Stop laughing, you heard, there’s no fun on my ship.” Something about that makes Kaylee frown as she leans over the steaming mug. “Stop it.” Inara tries again. “Can you try and be a little bit sympathetic, please?” Wash keeps chuckling and Kaylee thinks maybe she even hears Zoe stifle a giggle or two. “All the fun’s locked up with my nethers, ain’t it, Kaylee?” He smiles widely at her and she blinks a little. “No one gets any ‘til I do, hey?” Oh, go se. Kaylee lets her head drop and hit the table with a thud. *~*~*~*~*~*

Was anybody able to screencap the screensaver off the UIP site....apparently, it has all of the international wallpapers (one for each crew member) I tried to download it but I can't seem to get it to work on my computer...the one off the official U.S. website seems to work ok on my comp but I might just be doing things wrong...it's happened before.....heh:stupid:...so if anyone has any insight into my problem...or if they would be willing to post all of the caps....I would be eternally grateful...YAY! That’s all.....

well, this isn't really worthy of a thread, so i figure i'd see who could help me out if i just put out a log. Not the creative naming sort, and i've been having some stuff I need to write down (we'll see if it helps) And the last bloggin option i have is livejournal. MySpace most of my friends read and its stuff i don't wanna let them see. its basically i write better on the computer then I can on paper (mostly cuz i can type fast enoughb to keep up with my traing of thought). Anyways, back to the point, I was hoping to get some suggestions for usernames. N0Skillz is out (to widely known amoung people i know, i use it from games to forums) AIM S/N is just kinda stupid (BonusEpiphany--i just keep it, cuz i can't think of a better one) and thats the extent of my screennames. basically anything if it sounds catchy, or is related to something i like(sci-fi, fantasy, games, stuff like that), but is obsure enough to be unique. umm, i can't really offer anythign but my thanks .. or maybe a crappy pentium 3 computer (jsut kidding.. well maybe not really)

Well, I sat all the way through the thing. Sorry, but Woody Allen is just getting too long-windedly preachy for me, and his "funny" stuff in this one just isn't funny, with the exception of one scene that I can't even remember now so you know it wasn't much. Anyway, Chiwetel Ejiofor did a nice job, though his part didn't have much screen time. Can't say I'd recommend the film (melinda and melinda) to y'all.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this so tell me if I'm doing anything wrong. My first encounter with Firefly was on DVD, I'd heard good things about it but knew very little more. Wow! Forgive me for saying this, but being British I've always thought most American TV was brash & unsubtle but not any more. My opinion changed with Alias and now Firefly! The greatest moments in Firefly are also the smallest moments, the merest glance from a character that tells you everything they're feeling, the simplest of lines that makes you laugh out loud, it's just the best TV ever! And now I've just discovered Monk as well. Thank you America!!!!

Got all the clips at long last. Now it's just a matter of finding the best way to use them. I hope I can do the song in question justice, as it's really amazingly *right* for the purpose it's being used for. Stay tuned.

I can't stand it! It's taking too long! Serenity needs to be out on dvd....NOW! Now, do you hear me? *yells at the deities* NOW! ...please don't hurt me! *hobbles away*

Edit: there may be slight spoilers. Consider yourself warned. To start, I'm just going to say that I'm not trying to start any fights (which is why I'm putting this in a flylog and not starting a thread) but I'm going to speak my mind here before I end up replying to a post somewhere and regretting it later. This is a rant. You have been warned. Standard ranting rules apply  First we get a trailer. And people are upset. I can't even remember why now. I think it had something to do with 'not appealing to the general non-browncoated public' (although a trailer in April for a little-known movie in September is probably for the fans anyway.) Then we get a poster. And people are upset. Doesn't represent the movie (which most of us haven't seen) yadda yadda yadda. I liked it. It's hanging in my room. Then there is another poster (the Australian one). And people are upset. Too apocalyptic. Too martial-arty. Then there are the tv ads. Not enough explaining. Too much explaining. Too funny. Not funny enough. Then we get the movie. And people are upset. Too many deaths. The wrong deaths. Not enough Inara. Not enough Kaylee. Not enough River. Not enough Mal. Not enough Wash. Not enough Book. Not enough Jayne. Not enough Simon. Not enough Zoe. Not enough Serenity (the ship). It's not Firefly. It's too Firefly. And now the DVD. There are petitions against the DVD art. And for the inclusion of several episodes of Firefly (I actually thought that one was a joke at first). And there are demands that the deleted scenes be put in (although this came from a poster who is showing definite troll-like tendencies). I think I've made my point. And I don't necessarily disagree. I think there were flaws in the promotion (the tv ads in particular). And I'm not saying people shouldn't feel free to like and dislike things. Go ahead, I have no right to tell you how to feel. What I find tiresome though is that it seems that from the very beginning, some people have never been happy. Everything is wrong and the fans are the only ones who know what is right and that if the fans demand something be done, it should be done. It just feels like this weird 'entitlement' thing has sprung up. I can't describe it, but I see it everytime I see a new thread demanding Universal/Joss change something (and it's not just here. I made the mistake of going to the 'versal board and was left with this feeling :banghead:). Does everyone need their own complaint thread? And their own petition? And to hate everything. I'm not in love with the DVD art. But I don't really care. I want the DVD. And if this is the art it's going to have for a December release then bring it on. I know a lot of what I've said may anger some. But I had to say it. I'm not trying to offend, I just don't get it. We should enjoy what we have, not dwell on what we dislike. End rant.

This is going to be a long blog spread over a few entries so if you want the short version: I went to Australia, my brother got married, I made it safely home. Oh and drinking games are fun when you know the rules. Even in the long version, I'm skipping to when I left Sydney. It was a 9.45 flight to Noosa and there had been a bit of dispute between my brother and his fiance about exactly how much time they needed to leave spare before getting to the airport. Rob wanted to arrive just before check-in closed, Rachel wanted to be there shortly after the airport opened. We reached a suitable compromise but unfortuantely a) Rob and I took the first taxi on our own as other three girls were still getting ready and b) the flight got delayed for three hours. This was not a good start. We eventually arrived, slightly grumpy, at the Sunshine Coast airport and got ready to pile into the hired car when the next unfortunate incident happened. Perhaps some explanation is necessary. Rachel is a great planner of things and had organised pretty much everything to do with the wedding from the flowers on the table to the musicians at the ceremony. Rob had one job: car hire. Unfortunately, he wasn't that specific about the car he wanted and so we all stood in front of this bright yellow, big spoilered, custom exhaust boy racer. Rachel was not impressed. But finally we made it to our villas. I was staying with my parents, aunt and uncle, cousin and her backpacking friend. We thought our place was outstanding, what with it backing onto a river, there being a boat in the drive, a glorious main room, etc, etc. That was until we had seen where Rob and Rach were staying: it could easily have turned up in the pages of Hello magazine or Cribs. It had this huge door that Lurch would have been very at home answering plus an even better view, a bar, an ice machine, an awesome TV room... just palatial really. Still, you only get married once. We had a very nice BBQ with a lot of guests in attendence, spoiled slightly for me by the fact that I crashed out after a couple of hours with jetlag. Hadn't really been affected before then so it was a bit surprising. Didn't matter too much because finally, after 9 days in Australia, I was about to go sunbathing for the first time. Well, the first time that involved any actual sunshine. To be continued...
Thursday, 03 November 2005 21:47:55
Ah sunlight. Where would be without it? Well, not in existence apparently but I'm more referring to the process whereby we smear a combination of oil and water all over ourselves and lie in the light, hoping to turn our skin a slightly darker colour. Magical. Such opportunities having been unavailable to me in the UK (and Sydney come to that), I eagerly bounded out to absorb some rays. Lovely. I'd like to say Monday was more daring and exciting than that but no. It was just me in sunshine. The following day however was slightly more interesting as we decided to go to Australia Zoo. This was actually founded by Steve "Crikey!" Irwin's father and now Steve and his wife own and run it. It's rather impressive, what with a very hands on approach to animals (koalas and kangaroos both there to be stroked), plus a presentation every day of the animals in the Crocoseum (sponsored by an interminable number of companies). They showed snakes, tigers, birds and crocodiles , although the highlight was definitely in the bird section. This huge eagle came out, soaring across the stadium, flying from one side to the other onto the zoo keeper's outstretched arms. Except for the time that he rather overshot and had to land on the next obvious perch which happened to be the shoulder of a five year old girl who naturally enough screamed and cried her head off. What was particularly peculiar was the way the presenter carried on talking, reassuring that it was just a bit windy and the eagle had gotten a bit off course. Well, duh. He also offered to take the child out with the bird later, just one on one. As though that child was ever going to want to do anything but run in fear from all birds from now on. Not everyday you get to see someone's childhood trauma take place (although I'd probably recommend the circus as the best place to do so. Clowns. *shudders*) After that, it was back home to catch some more sun and then have a little wander around the local neighbourhood. The real fun was set for tomorrow. A quick word about my brother: mean. A long word about my brother: malevolent. Or maybe machiavellian. Basically there were people at the wedding who had flown the 12,000 miles specfically to take their revenge upon him. He had already had one stag weekend but on Wednesday it was time for a bonus one. He was very fortunate in his choice of wife in that people who knew her were aware that she would track, hunt and kill anyone who derailed the ceremony so that meant no shaved heads, eyebrows or dumping in the middle of the countryside while wearing a bunny costume. However, we were allowed to take him out for a drink. First of all we went out to Sunshine beach, a most glorious stretch of land reaching pretty much as far as you could see. We set up a game of beach cricket but to make things more interesting, we gave Robert a woman's hat, shirt and skirt to wear. He was still a better cricketer than me even in that getup. Bah. Anyway, we played in the sand for a while, then the water (which had such a huge tidal pull, we had to get out and walk across the beach to stop ourselves being dragged all the way along the shore) then finally to the local lifeguard institution which seemed to be mostly used as a pub. We then regrouped back in town for a few drinking games. My brother is a master of drinking games (you may know thumb master, head master, surf master, freeze master, drink while you think, fizz buzz, among many others) and normally uses this knowledge to crucify all those he plays with. However this time, it was 14 against one. Two hours in and he was much the worse for wear, certainly not helped when my uncle pulled Rob's hat over his head and pretended to be steering him like a go-kart. You can imagine how pleasent that is while drunk. After that, karaoke. My family has roughly two tones between us in our singing voices so you can imagine the horror as Robert was summoned again and again to sing for our (and the crowd's) entertainment. I think his rendition of Dancing Queen will take some suppressing. One of Rob's mates

Well, I was worried that tonight might be my last night to see Serenity in theaters with a couple of big movies coming out this weekend. I was right, Jarhead and Chicken little apear to have knocked it out of the only real theater in town. Hold on, it gets worse. The last showing started fifteen minutes ago. I'm sad now, knowing I won't be seeing our BDH on the big screen for awhile(haven't seen them on the small screen in a while either come to think of it...might be time to invest in a second DVD set, what with my first constantly on loan an all). Heres to the DVDs! and moreover, HERES TO A SEQUEL!!! -e P.S. I only got to see it six times and I've only really brought about a dozen or so people into the verse. Is my coat brown enough? Have I done all that I can? I hope so.

Hi I'm sitting here trying to come up with how to get Kaylee's sister onboard, I thought about how about her stowing away but then I wasnt sure about that idea and then I thought how about i write it as if she was allready on Serenity. Meaning write a fic between each episode like the first fic could take place between the pilot ep and train job. I dont know I'll think of something. Who knew writing was hard? Its fun but hard.

I had River moment in my chem class today. Our instructer was walking around the class helping people out, and he had these light blue latex gloves on. Me and my friend, who's a recent FF convert, started quietly repeating "Two by two, hands of blue". It got us strange looks from the people sitting near us, but for some reason, we couldn't stop.

::waves:: Wow, I get a blog... ::looks around:: Just saw the movie for the second time, and need my Firefly fix. Was wandering the net and found this nice place here. Don't know how active I'll be, but I just thought I might as well join the ranks. I was actually looking for rumors about a second movie or continuation of the series. Heard more of the series looked grim, and that if he WAS to continue Firfly it would be in movie form. ::shrugs:: I also heard "Wash" was still signed up or under contract or whatever with Whedon and them folk. Dunno how that'd work... maybe just a flashback type of thing, or maybe it's just for the occasional cast appearances at events or something, but still. Haven't had much luck so far. Was just a rumor anyways. If anybody's heard somethin' it'd be good to know. ::waves again::

:banghead: Anyone have any ideas for a xover fanfic involving Angel & Spike meeting the crew of Serenity?
Friday, 04 November 2005 16:18:13
Well, I'm no stranger to blogging. I have a Livejournal with this same user name, but unfourtionatly, I don't have regular access to an un-firewalled computer with internet access. Yeah, my computer at home is a piece of crap so I have to use the ones at my school.:crap: Not much to say about myself right now... I usually just rant. So, yeah, I guess thats all!

My first fanfic is up, let me know what you guys think!! *~Laur~*
Friday, 04 November 2005 20:34:55
So finally it dawned. At the end of the day, I would have a sister-in-law, a set of outlaws (apparently that's what my brother's in-laws are to me) and there would be a set of nieces and nephews in potentia from now on. But first: how do you spend the morning of your wedding? Playing golf, if you're my brother. I'm not a golfer but the Australians do it right. First of all, the course was just beautiful. Second, they supply you with all the equipment. Third, you don't have to carry your bags for a yard; instead you get these souped up golf carts which really bomb you about the place. There were twelve of us in total and I teamed up with three other non-golfers to generally hack and slice our way down the course. I had gone round in 70 when we decided we needed more balls, having lost twenty five between us already. So we dashed into the clubhouse and collected another twenty, ensuring we'd be able to complete the next 9 holes without any problems (yeah, 70 after 9 holes. Not great). I managed to lose balls to woods, water and even a surly looking kangaroo. I could have gone after it but he just had this expression that suggested he wanted to be Mike Tyson to my Syd Little. Discretion being the better part of valour and all that, I finally wound my way to the 18th, a rather long par 5. But I hit a beautiful drive that flew down the fairway. I decided to chance my arm again with a three wood and lo, that soared onwards too. I was a good pitch wedge away from the green now. Unfortunately, my shot was a bad pitch wedge and it scuffed along the ground, skidded into the bunker but fortunately managed to roll out of it. As the other 8 had gone ahead of us, we had a little audience as we walked into the last. I was still a good 50 yards from the hole and didn't feel comforted from the heckling we were all receiving. What's more my brother was even video taping it all. I stepped up, addressed the ball and swung. Clip. Whoosh. Tap. Tap, tap, tap. Astonishingly, I had landed it a mere two feet from the hole. I turned to my brother who, of course, announced that he had just stopped filming. The one good golf shot of my day, possibly my life and he missed it. Still, I had a two footer for a par, which no-one in my group had got yet. Slight problem. I can't putt. Seriously. I had had several shots of matching length that I had three and even four putted. But this was for a par. I focused. I practised. I visualised. I tapped it. Plop. Par. Now granted, there's not much positive spin you can put on a round of 129 but, well, after the par, I couldn't care less. I could actually see what the attraction was of golf for my father. We all went back to the clubhouse and had a good lunch of burgers and chips (although most of us rejected the ubiquitous beetroot. I don't know why but Australians love to put beetroot in their burgers in bun sized chunks.) Finally we went back to our house, huts and villa to get dressed. As part of the bridal party, I got my tuxedo plus a rather snazzy waistcoat/cravat combination. I pulled my outfit on, but remained standing under the ceiling fan to keep my cool and sucked on a Callipo lolly to get my body temperature down. Fortunately everyone got ready at pace and we left on time. We had a little mingling at the clubhouse, followed by a slightly nerve jangling ride on the back of a golf kart to the lake where the ceremony was going to be held. We were all pretty much there, waiting for the bride and bridesmaid when *crash* a bucket of flowers toppled over. It stood on top of one of the pillars by where the couple would get married so we hastily gathered round and tried to repair the damage. Naturally the sight of four men in tuxedos trying to arrange flowers when we had not the first clue gave the congregation much amusement. Finally they were placed back on the pillar and the bridesmaids swept in. My sister looked radiant but then it was the bride and she was just stunning. Rob didn't know what dress she had and you could tell he was blown away too. The service itself was lovely; no

It seems kinda strange that I've never actually signed up for this site, since I've watched the show when Space first started airing it....Meh......hmm...well....Yeah, I gots nothing else to say.....so this is a rather pointless entry..... hears that awkward little cough that inevitably comes from the crowd of onlookers  well I'm..just..gonna go...away now.......

I went to lunch today in Old Sacramento with my mom. We went to this bar and grill place called Fat City, and as we were being seated, I notice that the place had an over abundance of Tiffany light fixtures, and I thought to myself, Nishka would love this place. Seriously, two days in a row now, weird right?

the official Serenity board has a new challenge here:

Sorry for everyone who thought this was a blog about simon and kali but instead it is about Simon and River's parents. I just can't stop thinking about how funny it would be to see thier parents on board Serenity. If it's to convince Simon to turn himself in or to retrive River either way would lead to laughs. Any way who else will be watching Joss on Veronica Mars besides me.

Today I feel pretty mighty. I'm 26 and I finally have decided it's about time I do what makes me happy. Tired of working the filing phone jobs I seem to end up with. It was fine when I was 22 and just out of school. But the condescending looks got old about a year ago. I didn't get a degree in Mass Comm to get the coffee for the office. Time to stop doing what I need to do and get to doing what I want to do. I just wish I could find someone who appriciates and can use my brain. On the bright side I am including my wardrobe in this. I don't shop as malls as a rule, I do not buy clothing unless it matches something I already have. I'm frugal like my father, but fortunately I have my mom's taste. It's time to stop restraining taste and put a bit of a leash on the frugal. I got a velvet jacket last week that makes me look like a star. I love it. I don't want to conform though. I just want to look nice. In other words...for once, I am turning up the "what I want to do" side of life.

Wow, Christmas gifts for my parents are going to be a breeze this year. For years, I bought my dad a book by Dick Francis for his Christmas present. (Mr. Francis was always kind to publish at that time of year.) Dad always knew it was coming, but was still excited to get it, and then I would borrow it. Heehee. Anyway, Dick Francis retired a few years ago and I've had a very hard time finding something as fun to give my dad. I called my mom the other day and asked if Dad had enjoyed the Firefly DVDs they'd borrowed from me (they gave them to me 2 X-masses back). "Oh, yes!" she replied. "Maybe I should get him the set for Christmas." Ah-ha! I told her she couldn't do that and, being the smart mom she is, she let it go. You see, I'd already ordered the Firefly set for Mom (should be getting here Monday). Well, change of plans. Firefly is going to Dad and I just ordered Serenity for Mom. Yay! I'm done. :) Weeheee! (I hate shopping, so this is bliss!)

My birthday was yesterday (ending all of 30 minutes ago) and my parents got me the only thing I asked for....the Firefly DVD!! I was so happy...sat there petting it for a few minutes. Then I pried the newest Wheel of Time book out of my friends hands (another gift from my parents) and petted that for a while.... I watched "Serenity" and "The Train Job" tonight with a friend...got too tired to watch anymore. I think I'll watch a few of the special features and go to sleep.... But, yay Firefly and yay to my parents for taking the (many) hints I dropped and buying it for me!!

I haven't written anything here since forever ago, but I have no other blog, and I really feel the need to get this down. Besides, it certainly qualifies as Firefly related. I found out through the SDBrowncoats Yahoo group that one theater in San Diego County was going to do a midnight showing of Serenity, so that hardcore Browncoats like me could gather and watch the movie about 12 hours before everyone else. I was thrilled by this and spent many hours working on a 'Mal' costume to wear to the event. Late on the night of Thursday, Sept 29, I drove the 50 miles to get from my house in La Mesa to the theater in Oceanside. Once there, I met other browncoats, some of which were also in costume. One woman in particular was dressed as Zoe, and right away I felt drawn to her. We talked and laughed with each other and other browncoats for quite awhile before going inside to get seats. I intentionally sat in the row in front of her, so that I could keep the socializing going. Her name was Beth and she had already seen Serenity at one of the pre-release screenings. After the movie I was very emotionally affected by the events on screen. Many of us stood around outside the theater talking and Beth saw how affected I was and came over and gave me a big, long hug. It was just the sweetest gesture. Even though we were practically strangers, something told me not to let go right away. We held each other for quite a long time before parting. I found much out later that she had felt a need to be held for weeks and finally got that from me. Later, I scheduled a shindig at my house and posted it to the SDBrowncoats board, and also sent a personal invitation to Beth, telling her that I really looked forward to seeing her again. She accepted my invitation and we continued emailing each other up until the shindig. During the shindig I discovered that I felt amazingly comfortable around her. It felt incredibly right just being there with her. At the end of the evening, it was time for her to go and we hugged and held each other again. But, this time after the hug we kissed. I had actually been hoping that something like this might happen, and I was thinking that I should concentrate and try to give her my best possible kiss, in the hopes of impressing her. But as soon as we started kissing, all rational thought evaporated. The next day we started emailing each other again. Before my shindig Beth had already invited me to a Halloween party at her house to be held the following Saturday. I told her that I wanted to see her again before that, and asked if I could take out on date. Our schedules were both open for Wednesday afternoon and evening. So, I picked her up at her house at 3:30pm and we went to La Jolla Cove. We walked and talked and watched the seals, and we kissed. Later I tooked her to P.F. Changs for dinner. Throughout it all we covered every subject we could think of -religion, music, literature, politics, movies, television, and on and on. We were completely compatible on everything, and on most things we actually matched exactly. By the time dinner was over it was 9pm. I told her that I didn't want the evening to end. She said that she had only seen Serenity twice and would love to see it with me again. So we did. After the movie I drove her home and we sat in the car and talked and kissed for about half an hour, then I walked her up her driveway toward her door, and we stood there for at least another hour and a half talking and kissing and just not wanting it to end. I finally left to drive home over 11 hours after I had picked her up. I was amazed. It was easily the best date I had ever been on, and I knew I had found someone very, very special.

Ok so I have all of the Buffy and Angel Dvds on Box set, along with Firefly. The only diff is when I watch Firefly I don't skip through the credits. I am in love with the theme song. The best rendition to listen to is the one were Joss sings it. I loose it every time. Am I crazy or is the "Balad of Serenity" that good?
Sunday, 06 November 2005 16:40:25
I just finished this excellent excellent fan fiction. Sooo good! Very funny, well written, if not kind of a odd start. Drunk, Horny Kaylee is kind of a strange place to start a story. But it worked out really really well, 28 chapters of goodness.
Sunday, 06 November 2005 19:23:09
Is is just me of is Mal alot alike Spike, for those who don't know Spike is the best charecter on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They are both the bad guy who is always ready for a good brawl. Although Mal is not evil he does always seem to throw in a good punch line before he actually throws the punch, like Spike. Plus they seem to fall for the girls they can't have(Buffy and Inaura). Both of them seem to be a bit cockey when the are winning or think they are winning a fight. The resemblence show it's self more when you are watching Firefly, it's kind of hard to explain.

I'm sure most of you know of this by now, but the Serenity O.S.T. is available on iTunes. I downloaded it, and it's great!

I just thought I'd break this in for the first time. I'm a new fan & I'm proud to say I've been able to bring my brother & cousin into the fold. So the fanbase grows! I'll have more to say some other time. Oh, & my 2 favorite episodes of the show happen to be "Out of Gas" & "The Message".

(Insert oooohs and aaaaahs here) My writing pal, Jena, and myself have embarked on various Wash n Zoe posts..... enjoying the fine art of story telling. Hope ya'all enjoy and I look forward to poking around and reading more that others have to offer!! Until later, Blake

With luck.... we'll hook one of my favorite River writers onto this board.... She's pretty awesome folks.... so keep an eye out for her. To date, I've more or less hook, line and sinkered a few folks over to 'the dark side' of RPG and writing. heheee. Look out for River!!

"Serenity" is being released right before Christmas, which is awesome because that's one gift I can get for my boyfriend. :) I want to get one for myself too. :p I've been debating with myself lately about whether or not I should keep buying my own copy of DVDs that my boyfriend and I like in common. We haven't lived together, but might at some point in the future. I like owning my own stuff. But if/when we get a new place together, would it be weird to have two copies of several movies and shows? :p I guess it's always nice to have backups and all. *shrugs*

Wow! ^ ^ People actually responded to my blog entry! This place is friendly! I will have to come back more often when I'm not more friendly. Made my first post in the Tranquili-Bush thread. I thought it was going to be political, and apparently I wasn't the only one neither. ^ ^ I'm so sad that the last day of Serenity playing in theaters was last Thursday. @ @ I actually went to see the last showing with my roomie. So sad. ::reads through her entry:: wow... you can tell I'm tired. That sentence up there? Wher eit says "When I'm not more friendly?" was supposed to say "When I'm not as busy." Sure I could probably just edit it now, and no one would ever know I made that mistake... but I think it looks funny. XD Ugh... I'm so scared i have such a crazy scary test tomorrow that I know I'll flat out fail. This isn;t one of those things where you say "Oh, I'm sure you'll do fine, you just have to calm down." No... you don't understand... I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING! I don't know whatthe test will cover, what the test will be like, how long it will be, what format the test is... @ o I'm so dead. I have a feeling it'll be covering everything... all 550 pages of the very small print, very tall and very wide book on Native American Pre-Historic cultures. If it's multiple choice I may still be able to make it. If it's something where I have to write in the answers? I'm screwed. Gorram majorly screwed. I'd spout out Chinese swearing if I knew it for ya, but I don't so we'll just have to stick with Gorram. I'M GONNA GORRAM FAIL!!!
Monday, 07 November 2005 11:14:59
It would make things so much easier. And interesting....very interesting. Well...I guess I'm wishing I was telepathic. It'd be nice to know what someones thinking...or what they mean when they say something. You know, what the really mean? Without having to admit that you know it. Just...walking into someones mind. I guess its kinda like reading a diary. And I guess its wrong in that respect. Writing a diary must feel rather odd. I started a manly "journal" once. That didn't last very long. But when I was writing it...I kinda wrote with it in mind that one day when I was long gone someone would find it and read it. I'd like that. Someone to read my thoughts and feelings when Im no longer here. Hmmm Yeah I don't really know what this blogs about. I passed my driving theory test, wahoo.

Okay, so... I've had this idea for a fanvid for the longest time, but haven't been able to do it for two simple reasons. I haven't been able to get the right mpeg files (I've been playing with AVI, which is just crap, visual wise) and it's actually a medley of three songs, not just one, which... I am so technically illiterate it's not even funny and I haven't been able to splice the songs into anything useful. But... I have both problems solved!! Yay me! Now all I have to do is get the clips from my DVDs and it'll be done. I'm very excited. My last vid was Simon/River to "Touched" by VAST, where I originally used AVI, but remade the whole thing with mpegs, so it's very cool, the graphics are crystal clear, and I'm very proud now:

Everything about me now is based on "Fairfly" and "Serenity".Not only was it a great show and movie but there was alot to learn from every eposide and charactor. We relied on the network to bring thing to us that we will like and apprishate, but instead of putting the things we like they put shit :disappointed: Anyone that has a brain that looked at friefly loved it,but the network had to cancle it :censored: I loved it. So far it is still #1 on my list of favourite movies; and it's going to stay that way.I hope they are big enough to accept there mistake and air "Firefly" agian.

We have this custom in class. Every day, the class is begun by a student saying some words that mean something special to him, or as it mostly is, that sound cool. This can be a poem, a song, an editorial from a magazine... Ok, that last bit, not so meaningful, but anything goes. Today was my turn. My turn. 2 weeks ago, I was in Bergen for Bergen International Film Festival, in order to catch a screening of Serenity. I got in, barely. (They overbooked the place ) Before the film started, this guy showed up on screen. It was the video of Joss' presentation of the film to those who were going to be the lucky ones to see it. The speechifying was good, and to be honest, I had it memorized there and then. People clapped. A little digression now. People clapped even moreso after the movie, something which never happens in Norway. There was dancing. Ok, maybe I was the only one dancing, but still, dancing! I recited Joss Whedon's speech to my class. They had no way of knowing that this was coming, or how to relate to the funniness that is Joss Whedon. Yet, they laughed, they clapped and my teacher said: "We have to go see that movie." Notice the we part. If this get's an extra 20 tickets sold to Serenity, I'm proud. There is still hope. For Serenity.

For those of you who don't know, Coupling is a UK sitcom. Absolutely hi-larious. Highly recommended. Ok, if you guys don't want a spoiler, stop reading now. You have been warned. We have just started watching series 4 of it and... and... Jeff is gone! He was the kinda weird, kinda dumb, kinda... Well, you know the character. Except, the actor who played him, and the writters/director/etc executed the character flawlessly. Absolutely brilliant. Now Jeff is gone and has been replaced by some idiot that you just want to slap (character and the actor for his "acting"). It's still pretty funny, but for those that haven't gotten there yet, series 4 goes in a fairly different direction than the prior series'. You can see it from the last ep in series 3. So, you can decide whether you want to stop there. Not that I'd recommend stopping there. All things being equal though, I would recommend continuing. Just ignore Oliver. Oh god, should you ever ignore Oliver. Only a few eps left and then that's it. Oh will I savour what I have left. Such a good series.

Anthony got himself a box of NFL cards. A: Look! I got a Javon Walker jersey card! Me: Hm. How nice. A: No, LOOK! Me: Oh, it's kinda shiny. Hey, it's like a pieceworks card, yeah? A: It's *not* like a pieceworks card. It's a jersey card. Me: Does it have piece of a costume on it? A: It's not a costume, it's a JERSEY! Me: Is it clothing? A: Yes. Me: It's like a pieceworks card. A: It's NOT A FREAKIN' PIECEWORKS CARD!!! Me: Looks like one to me.

Sucks that I got on board the whole Firefly thing so late. I missed the first airing (and all the pain), I missed the DVD release, I missed the announcement of the movie (I'm sure there was much rejoicing). I almost missed the movie itself because by the time I became a fan it was on its final few days in the theater here. Which brings me to my point: I'm really coming to hate the movie. Was it a bad movie? No, it was great! But I think it was a bad idea. It took an entire season worth of television, condensed it to 90 minutes, and stripped away most of the elements that made the TV series so unique and charming. It ended up as a very entertaining little sci-fi flick with no obvious hook and no stars. The box office was what you'd expect to such a film - lukewarm. Meanwhile the Firefly DVD set continues to fly off shelves at a crazy rate. Amazon recently jacked up the price, and the set's still in their top 10 best-sellers among all DVDs - at $40 a pop, and after all of this time. How many have been sold? Millions? Plus the ratings for the repeats on Sci-Fi continue to be strong. But all of that momentum has been killed by the movie and seems to mean nothing now. No one in Hollywood is paying attention anymore, and no one cares. The franchise has been branded a two-time failure and a dud because of the movie, no matter how much everyone loves the TV series. That's the frustrating thing. The series is absolute gold. I have friends who saw the movie and enjoyed it on a visceral popcorn-flick level, then watched the series and were blown away and became as obsessed as me. Recapping: -First Fox killed the series by presenting it the way they did. -Fans of the show and those who were just curious snapped up the DVDs (and are still buying them like crazy), bringing everything back to life -Then the movie killed the franchise again I can't help but feel like if everyone involved had just waited a little while, the series would have been back on television for a long run - and would have been welcomed with open arms by all of the fans who own the DVD sets. The franchise just doesn't lend itself to the movie format. This is a tale that only retains that "something special" when it's in serial form. Instead we get a fun little movie, and we're back to square one, with the franchise taking the blame instead of the format. The most frustrating thing is to see people hoping for a sequel. "Better than nothing." No it's not because "nothing" eventually builds to something bigger and better. "Nothing" turns into more momentum and objective analysis by someone who matters about what people actually want instead of counting numbers and throwing out scraps. That's why I'm learning to hate "Serenity." And that's why I pray there's never a sequel. Unless it's after a 10-year TV run.

Ok, this cold is going to drive me nuts, I REALLY want to go buy the book about the making of Serenity but it would also be very nice if I could pass all my classes (with A's would be wonderful...but highly unlikely, particularly with my social psych class at the university), and it's getting dangerously close to the end of the semester. Why can't I be an instant genius like River? (don't tell me cuz she's a fictional character or I'll buy two books just so I can shove one down yer throat...)
Tuesday, 08 November 2005 23:58:02
Why Wash? okay this entry is a little belated but I havn't really thought much about Serenity, except for how long till it came out on Dvd. Any way WHY WASH. I get Shepord Booke but not Wash, Alan Tudyk is awsome. If Joss does a second movie or continues the show some how he has got to find a way to incorperate Wash. Killing Wash is almost as bad as killing Spike at the end of Buffy...Except Spike came back, and he didn't have a large speary pole thing patruding through his chest.

Well okay, I didn't actually kick any ass today. But I did blow off my last class of the evening. 8pm is was to late for class to be over, especially one as boring as review chemistry. Instead I opted to come home, put on my pjs and write a blog about what I just did. Perhaps not quite as productive, but a hell of a lot more entertaining

A freind recently suggested I check out this series and after I got the first disk from Netflix, I cancelled the others from coming. It was after store hours so I had to wait till the next day before I went and bought the whole series. A week later she and I discussed why it was cancelled and these are the main 3 things we came up with( besides the fact that the Fox people are morons). 1. Lack of advertisement. She nor I had ever heard of it before someone turned her on to it then she did likewise for me. 2. Cost. Sci-fi programs need a much higher budget to produce than the average show because of special effects. Most sci-fi series are geared for a fanbase that starts alot younger; with the adult content there were less fans available for the cost/viewers ratio. 3. Showtime. Friday night for a series that will mainly draw young adults... C'mon, we were all out while this show was on. Hopefully whenever foxes rites for this show run out it will be picked up by a pay-channel; no comercials and less content restriction would be great. Heck, I'd settle for Fox bringing it back though... Any port when your compression coil is about to bust.

The day after a few of us hearty folk viewed Serenity for the last time(?) at the theatre here, BOTH my orders from Amazon.com came today. The fine folks at Amazon had informed me that the shipments should be expected NEXT week, on or about the 18th. This is soooo dah bien-hwa!!

I spent so much time writing the next chapter of The Passenger part 2 last night, only to wake up to realize I was going to have to rewrite everything I wrote last night. I hate when that happens. I just discovered the discussion boards. I thought about opening a post on the Blue Sun room thread, but I'm not sure. I hate posting things and having no one respond. My head hurts.
Thursday, 10 November 2005 18:34:47
Okay now I know that this might be very wrong...but I believe it needs to be said. It has come to my attention that HALORULES and FARFENUGEN2 are not fans. They only post things having nothing to do with Firefly/Serenity or they post hateful rude things! How do we go about getting rid of these guys! If you agree, or have seen these things, or both maybe you can do something or if enough people complain they will be deleted???

I am such a jackass. I am planning to write some more fanfic about the history of the Firefly 'verse and the earth that was.

Gods, it's boring procuring clips. I don't think I'll get the BVI vid done for Serenity² after all, then.

The first episode of Firefly was on last night on SCI-FI and I loved it.

I just want to thank Joss Whedon and especially all the original Browncoats that started the whole Browncoat fanbase in the beginning. I came to the game a bit late. Serenity already had a release date of Sept 30th and SciFi was running Firefly episodes with movie previews. I'd only caught two episodes when the series originally aired on "EXCREMENT DELETED NETWORK" and at the time I just didn't get it. When SciFi started airing the show in the proper sequence I immediately "fell in love" with the show. I then went and bought the DVD set and went from being "in love" to having an all out psychotic obsession with it. I've seen the movie 6 times so far, the latest being last night and I'll probably try to catch it one more time this week before it's finally gone from the area. This hopefully will keep me going until the DVD ships on Dec 20th. I'm definitely a Browncoat now but I feel I owe a big thanks to the ones that got it all going and kept it all going so long. I don't think we would have the BDM if it weren't for all of them. God Bless and keep flyin!

I got my firefly soundtrack today, finally! I'm listening to it right now. I'm very happy about this. I also tried vodka for the first time a few minutes ago. It's completly unrelated to the first part of this entry, but I am a wee bit tipsy, and I wanted to account for that here. Yeah, that made no sense, but yay! firefly soundtrack

I'm not really sure the flogging has anything to do with anything. Fonging maybe, but that's a different story... I just realized how long it's been since I posted anything here. It seems odd that. So I posted my newest fan fic, and maybe I'll go back and grab the others I've written sometime and put them here too. I don't know. I think i'm still typing now because I am bored. So I should probably stop then... yeah.

Someone over at ff.net feels very protective over Simon after the last part of my fic. Prophet was, apparently, a bad boy. This doesn't bode well. I hate making readers man. I get flashbacks to the whole Lana debacle from my Smallville series. It's still upsetting, even after four years. Of course, it's possible I hold onto things for too long. I have a feeling I'll be rewatching all my Firefly DVDs soon. I'm getting FF withdrawl.

I play Scholastic Bowl (aka jeopardy in teams) with questions on just about everything. To my great delight 3recent related questions were on former sci fi tV show Captains, with the middle one being our own Captain Reynolds. Of course the moderator and everyoneelse (except scifi friends and Buddy) thinks i'm nuts, esp. 'cause i'm carrying my 2 ticket stubs around in my pocket.

So... that test wasn't a complete loss... well it was... but... well... It WAS in the sense that I failed... but most of the class failed, and it created a class bonding experience when we were done! XD SO, it was a slide ID of 20 artifacts, right? At the end of the test we all went over the answers as a class. First off, the guy next to me asks "Hey... are you going to curve this thing?" Then, halfway through (on the 10th slide) one guy yells out "YAY! I GOT 2 RIGHT!!!" The guy next to me then says "I WISH I got 2 right!" The prof says "I should HOPE you got more than 2 right." The entire class goes silent. After we went over the answers he basically said "Yeah, don't worry if you did bad. I mean, if you did well on your other tests then this really won't matter too much towards your grade... maybe half of a letter or so." Then he adds "See... this was basically to humiliate you all." HAHAHHAHA....::deadpan glare:: Also, I'm doing alright (getting a B) in everything but Geology (which I'm frighted of since I missed so many days seeing as it's at 9 and my happy wake up time isn't until 11. Also... I'm scared to know how I'm doing in Japanese... and I don't even thing the professor himself would know... seeing as he's a bit "off." As in... he's completely insane... like... he's... crazy... nutters... freaktastic... etc etc. ::Shrugs:: Oh well... at least I scored higher than the hoity toity girl on the last test! XD BOOYAH!!! EDIT: OH YEAH! I FORGOT TO MENTION! I SO got "The Ballad Of Serenity" to play on the campus radio station here! XD SCHWEET!!!

I'm new on fireflyfans.net and I feel out of the loop I guess. Are their any Australian fans out there? Or anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet. I was going to go on the 'chat' section but everyone seems to know each other already and it feels like I'm just butting in. So if anyone out there wants to say hi then PLEEASSEE do.

I woke up this morning hoping it was all in my head, but my nose is stuffed up and my throat hurts like hell. I've managed to get sick smack dab in the middle of my gorram midterms! All I want to do is stay in bed, watch tv and read, but alas I am forced to drive the 30 minutes to campus and pretend like I care about my education. At least Thanksgiving is next week, 4 days of turkey, tv and if I have my way, sleep. Wish me luck people, I am going out into the world! *storms away like a woman on a mission*

Not so much a large tale to tell, but a funny thing happened the other day (as related to me by my wife). So her River-esque student was doing a Think-Pair-Share with a classmate. Basically you read something, pair off, and discuss it in case you've never done it before. My wife is monitoring the class when all of a sudden this student starts saying "Miranda! Miranda!" over and over again. Pause. Look of shock and surprise. Flashbacks of the film.... Then she remembered that the classmate she was talking with has the last name of Miranda. Heehee! Really not that amazing, but the way my wife tells it...she really tripped out for a moment there!

Hey guys, I know you're waiting for part three of The Invited, but it's going to take a couple more days for me to work on. I have a certain length I shoot for with each part, and this one is just taking a little bit longer to get to because I've been so busy. It should be up soon!! :-)

Thanks to a lot of help from another Firefly fan, I'm (hopefully) going to be working on some fan music videos for Firefly, Buffy, and Angel. I'm planning to do vids that highlight specific characters, but also vids for certain relationships as well as whole-cast-type vids. I've already got a few songs that I know would be absolutely perfect: --- Firefly MAL/INARA montage - "Flutter Girl," Chris Cornell (Euphoria Morning) JAYNE - "Born Too Slow," The Crystal Method (Legion of Boom) RIVER - "Bring Me To Life," Evanescence (Fallen) FULL CAST - "Personal Jesus," Depeche Mode (The Singles) --- Buffy/Angel SPIKE - "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," Smashing Pumpkins (Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) FAITH - "Living Dead Girl," Rob Zombie (American Made Music to Strip By) BUFFY/FAITH MONTAGE - "Preaching the End of the World," Chris Cornell (Euphoria Morning) ANGEL - "Golgotha Tenement Blues," Machines of Loving Grace (The Crow soundtrack) --- I'd love to hear any other suggestions of songs that would be a perfect fit for a character or a relationship. Some of these videos I can already see in my head, particularly the Spike one, the River one, and the Faith one.

Freedom. Or the fight for freedom. Now, I don't have all the answers. If anyone can spell it out, please tell me how it goes. If you're into cool movies, I recommend Easy Rider, Koyaanisqatsi, Fight Club and Barton Fink... I believe there's a search for freedom in all of these movies, but none of them can spell out what freedom truly is. Malcolm Reynolds doesn't want to be a number and he makes decisions accordingly. His crew is loyal to him for the same reason I watch the show: I'm not free but I'll do anything I can to be just that. And if not, I'll go down trying. I haven't been a member of fireflyfans.net for long, but it seems to me that members are too involved with Angel or Buffy and waste too much time evaluating what our favorite line is in Serenity. Pride is a mortal sin, but we should all be proud to have brought Serenity to balance what it cost to what it made. DVD sales will bring in more money to those who have something to say. Our money is going to the right place this time. Joss Whedon is not my master, he is my brother.

I’m trying to decide between what my next fanfic should be about, it will either be about 1. What life is like on the earth that was after the exodus, including plagues, starvation, wars, cults, bandits, establishment of government and order, crazy genetic experiments in hopes of modifying humans as well as livestock so that they can survive in the hostile wasteland, and of course people going insane in the wasteland. There’s also a wonderful period of time on the earth that was right after the exodus which I think I’ll call the Age of Ruin or The Withering or maybe The Putrid Winter. Basically it’s when the earth gets screwed beyond repair. When all those ships blasted off, they blew so much dust, soot, and dirt into the atmosphere that it blocked out the sun, like a nuclear winter, and they expelled so much toxic fume that it permanently poisoned the already unhealthy air. That's not all, the blast off also set just about everything that can burn aflame, forests, remains of large cities, farmland, etc., the fires continued to generate toxic fumes and throw soot into the atmosphere, keeping the earth covered in darkness for months, maybe even a few years. All that leads to mass extinction of plant and animal life so the environment ain't going to be able to heal itself for at least another couple thousand years. 2. Crazy stuff happening during the journey between the earth that was and the new world, people developing loyalties to the societies within the ships which later develops into entirely new nations, possible mutinies, and of course people trying to cure the insanity caused by living in space. 3. The story of how the criminals/workers are terraforming/building the new worlds, most of the workers were criminals, the rest are indentured workers who volunteered so that their families can have a chance to leave the earth that was, they’re considered expendable and lots of people die, their journey to the new earths isn’t nearly as calm as the journey of the others. I’ve joined a group trying to write a virtual season 2 of Firefly. Here’s the link if you’re would like to help:

Just got done writing my first NC-17 fanfic. I'm so proud. River/Jayne lovin'. Cuteness involved, though. I'm lonely out here in my lil' area of the 'verse....anyone wanna drop me a line sometime, it'd be shiny.

Yup, I think I do. I didn't know there was such a thing, but apparently there is. You know how I know? When my dog walks into the computer room and he doesn't even look at me when I start the usual... "Out! Come on, out! You know you're not allowed in here. Outside! Go on! GO!" Nothing, nadda... Well, nothing, until... "Go on, GIT!" And then he goes. *sigh*
Tuesday, 15 November 2005 20:50:35
It's been a pretty shiny day. Gonna get even more so!!! Got my friend comin' over to stay the night with me, we're gonna have all numbers of fun!!! From my other community, people enjoyed my fic. It was my first EVER..so I'm glad people were gentle with me... They say the first time always hurts!!!

I didn't want to start a new thread, and I noticed the Serenity squared thingy has a whole mess of replies. Opening threads that long takes forever, so I figured I'd ask here and get quick reply. Or not. Hope so though

Top 5 Reasons Why Finals Week Sucks :fork: (other than the obvious) 5. It makes hell seem appealing. 4. You put in a lot of effort for little reward. 3. Increases the urge to commit seppuku (ritual suicide). 2. In addition to studying for classes, you also have several projects due as well. 1. Prevents me from being able to spend time making another comic. So yes, unfortunately it is finals week for me so that means no new SP comics until the 28th at the earliest. There is some good news and no it’s not about my car insurance. During my week off the Xbox 360 comes out (:blast:SW33T!). So while I do not plan on getting one, I bet I know a few people who will. In other news, I think I have decided to go crazy...

Why does my blog hate me? It takes me hours to post one freaking post. Yay me! I need help. No not that kind of help. (I am so beyond that kind of help.)I know lots of you people use blogspot too so here's my dumb question. What I'd really like to know is how do you all post links to other blogs and sites? And just so this isn't completely off topic. What do you think our BDM's would write if they had their own blogs? No more trying to think before 5 a.m.

I don't know about anybody else but I have this HUGE problem trying to get the voices right in my fan-fiction. I mean I want to write something so bad, I have heaps ideas I think would work but I just can't get the voices to sound like they would on the show. Especially Wash and Jayne. I can't write snappy one-liners dripping in sarcasm for Wash. When I write Jayne I just make him sound so damn smart, even though as hot as he is he just isn't blessed with a tonne of brains and this all means that I am so frustrated right now. :banghead: If someone wants to take my ideas and run with them that is totally fine with me I just can't make them flow. P.S. To everyone going to Serenity2 have fun- I am SO Jealous

Which ever deity is in charge of Burlington's weather is on crack. Seriously. CRACK. Yesterday it was, like, 35 degrees and I shivered the whole way to class. Today it's about 65 degrees and I was too warm wearing my sweatshirt. Tomorrow it's supposed to snow. There's a saying in Vermont, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes." Crazy, yet true. And I'm all sad today because DC++ was killed by the RIAA so I can't download anime! Yeah, there's bit torrent, but that takes like half my life to get one episode. I'm going through withdrawal here. :banghead: There's a new episode of Bleach out and I don't have it yet! *cries* Oh well. There's always Firefly (which I own now, yay!)
Wednesday, 16 November 2005 23:21:30
Lent a copy of Firefly to a friend, and after continuously asking if she'd started watching it yet, she finally sat down and started - with 6 episodes in one night!!! Totally hooked. Her comment was IT ROCKS! It's a happy 'verse!

Posted my first Firefly fanfic to the site today... well, part one of it, anyway. I'm in the process of writing part two. I've written a few x-files fanfics in the past, but have never been overly prolific. The ideas are flowing this time though, which I'm happy to experience for once. I've already got pages of outline for a longer story arc, one that I hope I can make work, so long as I figure out how to fix the one little thing that, after rewatching Serenity, doesn't quite fit, and only happens to be the pivotal plot element.. sigh. Always happens. Ah, I'll figure something out, even if I have to make it AU, I guess... Anyway, my first fic's called Choices, and it's Mal and Inara stuff, my favourite pairing... so, give it a read if you're into that!

You know the drill, or you might not...I've been missing in action for awhile now. People talk to me...Then I respond. Like most people, I usually think something different than I actually say. These are some of the results. At Work: SWOSS: But, we're going to see Harry Potter on Sunday. Me: (Bullshit! I went to see that one lame flick, with Darth What'sHisNuts in it. The least you can do is come see Serenity with me!) Yeah, but Serenity is a one time thing...There's plenty of Potter to go around. (Please God! Don't let him do his Dobby impression!) On Vacation: lilmanwithpez: Granny! My penis is too big! Me: (I know I'm going to hate myself for the rest of my life for laughing at that...But, come on! Did I really just hear my son tell his great-grandmother that his penis was too big?)... (Honestly, I can't think of anything to say. Also...That's my boy!!!) On The Phone: daughterlikemother: I'm going to spank you in half! Me: (You know, if it wasn't so sassy, I would think that was one of the cleverest things I've ever heard! Spank you in half...HA! I'm going to have to remember that one.) Who do you think you're talking to? At The Gym: Hawaiian Lion: I've never tried to kill anyone with a racquetball before. Me: (The large bump on the back of my head states otherwise...) That's okay man. At Home Again: lilmanwithpez: When dissy (that's sissy, meaning his sister) get home, we go hannoween! Me: (Oh, he does love his Halloween, doesn't he. And, know I have to be the asshole that tells a two year old that Halloween only comes once a year...Would that it were everyday!) Halloween's over son. But, you still have some of your trick or treat candy left. (Minus all the Three Musketeers I ate out of it...What do you know...I AM an asshole!) And, that's all I got to say (or think) about that...

I bought the "Firefly" series just Monday and Have been watching 2-4 episodes a night. Tonight was Our Mrs. Reynolds and Jaynestown. Both offered a interesting perspective on life. Just the a whole deal about morals and ethics and what is right and wrong. In Jaynestown, Jaynes is faced with the reality of who he is opposed to who the mudders think he is. He reveals who truly is after a boy is shot and killed while saving his life. It doesn't make sense is what he says. But in the same time frame Shephard is trying to explain to River about Faith and belief. The kid that saved Jaynes life believed in him, enough so that he was willing to die for him. Kinda weird don't you think. That a guy died without knowing fully who Jayne was. Made me think.

Wow. Three months? Where have I been? More on that later. As for where I'm GOING ... well, for one, I'll be at the Regal Hollywood 27 in Nashville, Tenn. for the next to last showing of Serenity tomorrow night. So, if you're in the area, come by and ask all the guys you see if they are STEVEthePIRATE from fireflyfans.com ... and when you get to me, watch as I deny it for fear that my wife and friends will think I'm the biggest dork on the planet for announcing my arrival to a movie that's been out for almost two months. Or, drop by and enjoy the flick again with at least three like-minded Firefly/Serenity fans and one in the making. As for the "More on that later" part ... well, more on that later.

just a rant, you've been warned. so, apparently harry potter comes out today, or tomarrow, or somthing. judging by the way people were dressed at school today. made me a mite upset, actually; i like the books just fine, but so far the movies have been pretty bad, i thought (no offenese to anyone who liked them), and my understanding was that most people agreed. certainly most people at my highschool do. so: another movie, and no reason to think it'll be better then the others, and plenty of reason to think it'll be worse (longer book by several hundred pages, SLIGHTLY longer movie. do the math). i have nothing against harry potter, and hey, if people want to dress up for th movie and such, whatever, thats their affair. most of 'em are normies anyway. what ticked me off is this: school of about 2000 people, im guessing about 100-200 of them were dressed up. so: WHY ARE THEY NOT BROWNCOATS!?!?!?!?!?!? i just dont GET it, they KNOW that hp4 isn't gonna be great, but serenity, even if they hadn't heard anything good, or didnt trust what they heard, it was still a toss-up, rather then hp which is bound to be a let-down. so why did they not all go see serenity? (granted, some of them may not have know anything about it, other then what they read off my t-shirt) BUT EVEN SO! it just doesn't add up. k, im done ranting now.
Thursday, 17 November 2005 23:36:12
I'll be a Canadian Brown coat soon!! Yep I'm shifting hemispheres to Vancouver hopefully by the end of February!! I very muchly can't wait!! Well aside from that I also want to say thanks to Jacqui for offering to beta me, if I ever have something to show you then that would be a huge help thank you so much

The only Joss Whedon show I ever got into was Firefly. I had friends, who loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I’d caught a few episodes, including the final ones, but it was never a show that I made an effort to watch. I did watch more of Angel, but I didn’t start until the middle of the second to last season. I say this because a friend at work has every season on DVDs and he is letting me borrow them. So, I’m starting with season one and watched a few episodes while doing some work. Wow… I'm very impressed. But what impressed me the most is the difference between the season 1 characters and the final episode characters. Whedon really did a great job developing these characters. Like I said, the only episodes of Buffy I ever saw we’re near the end of the run. So to start seeing them so… green, really made me appreciate their change. Makes me almost sad to think what kind of development our Big Damn Heroes from Firefly could have gone through. Either way, I just finished the first DVD of Season 1 and I’m hooked. And just like how, Mal kicking Crow into the engine got me really into Firefly, the giant praying mantis saying "eeny-meeny-miney-moe" to choose her victim snagged me onto the Buffy verse. It’s the small details that I enjoying noticing. I laughed my head off on that scene. I’m going to enjoy checking out the Buffy series.

Today, sniff, was the last day, sob, that Serenity played in my town. (Gorram Harry Potter! On 3 screens, for Pete's sake!)

Ok, so it did snow here...a light dusting, but still, snow. That combined with the countdown to Serenity is getting me in Christmas mode. I'm panicking because I still have 2 and a half blankets to crochet, presents to buy, hats to knit....ack. And on top of that, school to finish. So I'm sitting here with some Green Mountain Spicy Eggnog coffee, listening to Christmas music. Because I think Christmas music is beautiful and relaxing. I usually wait until after Thanksgiving, but...meh. *sigh* Soon I'll have to return to the real world and go out in the cold and the snow. And me without a jacket. Eh, I'm a crazy Vermonter, I'll survive.
Friday, 18 November 2005 21:14:40
I'm recovering from my cold! Yay me! Also, gonna go see GoF tonight. I didn't think I would be this psyched, but I'm really looking forward to it. Plus I read the book in like sixth grade, so I don't remember much besides the major points, so it's all gonna feel new. Oh and of course only 32 days until Serenity on DVD. And less than 2 months until my 18th birthday. I have lots to be excited about! jumps up and down and runs around in circles, though not at the same time

I did indeed have a good day. Went to Joplin in search of comics... they were all sold out, but Nathan ( the comic guy) promised to call me when they are in. He's a Firefly fan too, is waiting for comics himself! I thought "Nathan" was good karma too, :) I have made a decision to redo my bedroom and office with Chinese and Japanese prints, hangings, etc. respectively. To get started today I found a wooden flat dish with Chinese characters ( wish I knew what they said!) and a lamp and I have to go tomorrow to a store downtown that has a wall hanging I want. I also found a great leather and chain necklace.... made of brown leather and chinese characters on... I think they are coins. I love it!! Had lunch with my daughter, we discussed Serenity and how much we love the movie and the show. She is a slightly less obsessed fan than me, but I had a blast talking about it with her. She likes Jayne and his hat. :) My Mom called from Cali and said she and my other daughter had found me a "surprise" in Cali while shopping.... woo hoo, I'm sure it's Firefly related, they all know how much I'm into this stuff. I'll get it Sunday... can't wait! And also I'm looking forward to my Mom being home, I miss her. I hope it's me next time who gets to go visit... I miss my oldest daughter. Well... on that note I'll end this good day and hope that tomorrow is just as good! Hey, I got the new "People: Sexiest Man Alive" magazine... how come Cap'n Tightpants isn't on the cover of that thing?!! He's not even inside of it... how could they do such a thing?!
Saturday, 19 November 2005 05:54:34
Hello everyone, Besides the typical newspaper reviews, I have been unsuccessful in getting a personal opinion on the new Potter movie. Am planning on taking my two boys to see the movie on sunday. As they are only eight and seven and the movie got a pg 13 rating, I was hoping to get an idea on how it was. Both of my boys and I have read the book, and they still think girls are icky so I'm not to worried about that part. But was just wondering if there were anyother parts I should be concerned about.
Saturday, 19 November 2005 08:05:52
My obsession with Firefly is overloading my mind. I just started a new fanfic about the Academy. No, it doesn’t involve River. It’s sort of the early days of the Academy and they’re using more primitive methods, not much brain surgery, to hone the student’s psychic abilities but it does involves horrible experiments, with electric shocks, poisons, radiation, military conditioning, and a monkey. My fanfic about the exodus from earth is going well as is my fanfic about the creation of the new worlds by those criminals and indentured workers with lots of deaths and maiming. My Batman fanfic is coming along quite well. I’ve written out the story outline and quite a bit of dialogue for Batman’s new adversary, whom I have yet to name. Here’s a little snippet, it’s out of context and it’s only part of the dialogue so you won’t really know what it means until you read the rest of the story but here it is: “Justice is a lie; it is but a tool, a vehicle for vengeance. It is defined by law but those who forge laws are tainted, impure, guilty, for nothing that lives is innocent. Justice merely creates the illusion that a punishment is not an act of revenge but punishment is defined by vengeance no matter who carries it out, be it the victim, the state, or you. Justice has blinded us to this hypocrisy and its taint must be purged.”

So here is the deal with insomnia. I was actually able to fall asleep, for once, around midnight. Only to wake up two and a half hours later and now I won't be able to sleep again. Since late night/early morning are my "peak hours" it is just like a nap and now there is no going back to sleep now that I have my nap.

This is funny. I should clarify that. It’s funny to me. Recently Mai and I got married. It was a lovely ceremony during a large chat session in the Juggled Gosling. Later that evening I whisked her off to bed. Yesterday she informed me and a few others that we are expecting. That’s really great awesome news. Just wow! Some of you may be a bit confused by now, it’ll get funny a few sentences from here. There are many wonderful people here, but we agreed on CMS as a godparent for our little bundle of joy. I was very excited when I heard the news. I gave everyone bubblegum cigars and generally kept saying, ‘Wow!’ I also changed my status on messenger to say, ‘Mai and I are having a baby!’ Here’s the funny part. My mother logged into YIM this morning and saw my status. She’s confused. She wants to meet this Mai person. And she wants to know how we managed to um, well conceive. She’s also a bit upset that she wasn’t at the wedding. So maybe not all that funny now that I’ve written it down, but it was funny to me because I could picture the look on her face when she said, ‘You’re having a baby?’...oh and she said, 'I'll warn your father.' Heh. I suppose we should start making a list of possible names. I think this may also be a sign that I’ve completely separated from reality. Where’s that pretty white jacket the doctor gave me?

Just thought I should sound like a psychotic freak and tell everyone. Conventions rock! He's so sweet. I just wanna hug him! ... metaphorically, since I actually did that for real anyway.

So, it’s half past six on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of a very cold British winter and what, pray, am I doing?? (that’s rhetorical by the way, as I’m about to tell ya …) Am I slapping on make-up and getting ready to go out on the town? NO! Am I snuggled up under a quilt at home, watching FF and eating popcorn?? NO!! Am I round a friend’s house, getting ready to eat their carefully prepared nosh?? NO!!! I am, in fact, at work, ensconced behind my desk in my cold, dark and miserable office about 40 minutes drive from my home, trying to work out just when Saturday morphed into a week-day! So please, feel sorry for me! Oh wait, I feel sorry enough for myself!! It’s my own fault – I said I was bored at work, I said I needed a challenge – mark my words Browncoats, be careful what you wish for!!! Anyone got a pizza???

So, I got my DVD set back a couple weeks ago after it had been out of my hands for months (friend, friend, mom, neighbor, guy at hubby's work that I met at Serenity). So, I've not been rushing to watch it all, thinking I had plenty of time to do it. Last night while hubby was flicking channels (during commercials on the golf channel), he hollers that Firefly is on. I rush to the room just in time to see Mal talking with Patience and saying, "I do believe that woman plans to shoot me again." (One of my favorite lines.) Hubby then says another guy at work would like to borrow my DVD set. You know, for a fella (my hubby) who didn't fall in love with the show (so he says), he's pretty loose and easy with my DVD set!!

Howd i get into the show? Went to a movie with a few friends, and saw an add for Serenity. I thought it looked cool, ive got a thing for movies and shows with kick ass female characters, there arent enough of them out there. It looked very interesting too. One of my friends who was sitting next to me however, started going crazy. I asked him what was up, hes like "Its Firefly!" I had no clue what he was talking about, so i looked questioning, he said it was an awsome cancelled TV show, then the movie started, so i shrugged, and figured id ask him about it later. I actually remembered seeing the show box set in Barnes and Noble while looking for something else, and reading the back, but not giving it too much thought. Well, this was the beginning of the summer, nearer to the end, he lent me the first disc. I was hooked, though i got a little confused in the beginning, after, i was totally hooked. The characters were amazing, and the plot was great, it was serious, but funny. Well, he lent me the rest of the discs and me and a friend watched them while we were on a trip. By the time we were done, she was a fan too. We counted down, then went and saw the show on opening night, 10:15 showing on Friday. Well, we got out after midnight, and by the next night, me and my friend who had converted me were back for a second showing...and he spent the whole time quoting, I threw a few back. I think the people infront of us pegged us as absolute geeks, and hated us. Oh well, it was just as good the second time. Now, though its out of mainstream, weve been searching for somewhere to see it again. I got a call on wednsday from my friend, and he was going crazy. He'd found a small theater that was, for two days, Serenity. Well, needless to say, weve already got tickets, and are ready to see it a third time. And imensely looking forward to the DVD release. "Cant take the sky from me"

Hi, who ever you are. New here. Poked around the site a while and liked it. 'Nuff said. Got turned on to Firefly late, sadly enough; late enough to have missed its televised run. But better late than never, right? I'm operating on that theory, anyway... My friend brought his 'Firefly' DVD boxed set over a few weeks ago, set 'em down and said, "Watch these. You'll love 'em." Halfway through the first episode I was hooked. By the end, I was swearing about the fact such a masterpiece had been misunderstood, underappreciated, and canceled by the same Powers That Be that always f*** up the shows with the greatest original potential, so they can put on more reality TV, and bulls**t expose crap about Paris Hilton and her latest trial-sized dog. So here I am. Nice to meetchya. Firefly rocks. Shieldmaid

Ah the parody of the Jaynestown song. Totally and completely accurate right now. I just finished my essay of doom....barely...with ten pages. Can I really help that? No. When I'm giving people information in a paper, I try to be concise...very concise... concise is not ten pages, not when my topic was so restricted (ten to fifteen pages, only use books from the University Library, but that have to be recent books, so I had to explain why I was using a very old book , from like 1907 (It was relevant, I swear!!!), and then to top it off I can't just settle for a nice, neat, bibliography, I have to footnote everything to death, in the proper format...) Can you guess how many recent books their are about medieval minstrelsy? according to the amount of resources I found, not that many, and people don't seem to be interested in writing dissertations of the subject, either, unless they're looking at musical notation and theory.... Okay...done with the rabid music major talk... just...why assign a college sophmore a *thesis* when all I want to do is get my bachelors? really? "I see the how, I just don't get the why." *DOOM* GAH!

I've written fanfics before, none that were anything spectacular, and none for the Firefly Universe. I have an idea that's been formulating for about a week or two, and now that I'm on break, I thought I'd better get started on it! The breakdown: Ok, so, post BDM, River suddenly awakens from a dream about a boy (hmm, pairings? I think so! I was never a fan of River/Jayne. Too creepifyin'. Still entertaining to read, though.) This boy is her age, and next in line to become the Alliance's new guinea pig for their experiments. He's psychic, too. But he hasn't been tampered with yet. Or maybe he has? Not sure where I want to go with this yet, but this idea has been bugging me, and I have tons of ideas for humor/romance/action to intertwine within the story. I have a few writing dilemmas, however. I'd like to have this fic set post BDM, but...Wash...he's gone, and I just need to have him in my story. I mean, he's Wash, he's one of my favorites. I'm thinking of having a sort of an alternate, being Wash surviving the accident (how? who knows!) but being in intensive rehab for a long time, thus making River still the copilot for now. Shepard is ok dead (not quite as bad as it sounds!) And I thought that he would have left River his Bible. I'd also need to have a background for my new character, the psychic boy, but first I need a name, and a way for him to escape from the alliance and somehow wind up on Serenity. Any suggestions? I'd gladly give credit!

I'm watching it right now. The ship hasn't capsized yet, but Adam Baldwin is looking mighty cunning. Just thought I'd share.

Thanks for all your messages of solidarity – and Phaedra I sympathise (you gotta keep away from those young men though – Hipolytus – yuk!)… My general beef though is that I work city hours, but for a local lawyers pay – tch!! So having worked all Saturday and Sunday, I discover that I feel so jaded today that I can almost not bear to crack on!!! Any suggestions as to how to brighten a boring office or make the working day twice as long and still get enough sleep would be most welcome … Also I could seriously use any suggestions as to how not to break down and cry like a 3 year old in the middle of the office … Enough griping – I saw a late night showing of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang at the weekend – no lousy job is gonna stop my viewing pleasure … Any one else seen it?? I personally thought it was fabulous – witty, funny, painful and just so FULL!!! Superb!!

Following Shiny Geeket’s recommendation to spice up my office working hours by kidnapping something from a fellow worker’s desk and sending a ransom note, I nicked my friend Jonathan’s supaclip (of which I am in any event inordinately covetous) and sent a ransom note (made from cut out single letters, taped onto a sheet of paper) demanding that a packet of jaffa cakes (a UK sponge and orange based product – think orange Twinkie) be left on the water cooler by 3 p.m. if he ever wanted to see the supaclip again … Much hilarity ensued, including this very funny email from him: Details of urgent Thames Valley Police press conference just in: - "A highly respected and influential Corporate lawyer has found himself the innocent victim of a biscuit-based terror campaign. Jonathan *** today received an "anonymous" letter threatening him with the permanent abduction of his 7 month old supa-clip. Police are now trying to trace the letter and have a number of leads. Mr Williamson has been on the receiving end of numerous biscuit related taunts recently from two work acquaintances. The first suspect has been named as Philippa ***. She is aged 38 and hails from the "wrong side of the tracks" in Windsor. Police are advising any supa-clip owners to steer clear of her and her matching hair accessories. She has a history of psychiatric illness as well as an unhealthy obsession with the female form according to one former female lecturer colleague. The second suspect is Katie ***. She is 25 and is the daughter of the "most important man in Henley". She has a history of stalking any male having had contact with a rugby ball and can currently be found most days searching the internet for luxury romantic breaks. She sometimes uses the alias "Jones" due to her general clumsiness. Mr *** is said to be unnerved about this latest development but told police: "I do not believe that honest and law abiding members of the public such as myself should have to held to ransom by biscuit crazed individuals. I have faith in the police's ability to catch the 38 year old female involved and bring her to justice." N.B. At this point I would like to make it abundantly clear that I am niethe r38 nor a lesbian – as this appears to imply!!! Grr!! So thanks Shiny Geeket - good suggestion!!

Hi, You know after reading quite a few firefly/serenity fan fictions on here and on ff.net I feel like writing one my self. Where do I start? Should I start before the movie or after? Do I need to use chinese? I noticed they dont allways seem to use it. Can I make it as if Book and Wash are still alive if I make it after the movie? Can I create a new character? I have never really written fan fiction so I dont really know the rules of the game or the do's and the donts of fan fictin

I am making a comment this Christmas to purchase a minimum of five Serenity DVD’s to use as gifts for those not familiar the Firefly universe. Anytime I get into A “Secret Santa” or “only send $20 bucks on me” situation their gett’n the DVD! It would be awesome if all the Browncoats could get together and buy at least three and do the same. Kind of a grass roots campaign to spread the greatness of Firefly to all those lost souls……. If this has been mentioned before my bad

Once you get a taste there is no way to stop, not even if you wanted to. I find myself constantly checking for updates in the Blue Sun Room. Reading fanfic has become a massive distraction for me. If I'm on my computer, chances are I'm reading some. Oh and is anyone else out there as addicted to misskitten's "Pretty...Pretty" series? I'm jonesin' for another installment. Tralala, reading fanfic is fun, and as a result I am now seriously behind on all my homework

Okay, so, Anthony has the day off and I think I frustrate him a tad. It's Tuesday, which means it's also Tight Ass Tuesday, ie - half price movie tickets at the cinemas. Anthony: Wanna see a movie? Me: Cool. Anthony: What do you want to see? Me: Serenity? Anthony: No, you've already seen it eight times. Me: Fine, then, whatever you want to see. Anthony: I want you to choose. Me: I choose Serenity. Anthony: I'm *not* driving an hour to the only cinemas still playing it. Me: What do you want to see? Anthony: Wolf Creek or Saw II. Me: Either sounds good, you choose. Anthony: No, you choose. Me: Serenity. Anthony: NO GODDAMMIT!!! Me: *giggle*

In an attempt to keep my son from wrecking the show his daddy is recording, I played "Out of Gas" with the Spanish audio and English subtitles. See, my dear husband has the TV routed through the VCR, so you can't change the channel without changing it on the VCR. And my boy wanted to watch TV. The Spanish Mal I think was the closest to the real actor when compared to all the other voices and their counterparts, although to be fair I wasn't paying close attention, because taking care of a 2-year old toward bedtimes takes my attention away from the story a bit. Why did I choose the Spanish audio? I'm trying to expose my son to the Spanish language, since all he hears is English (and some Japanese from my Inuyasha theme songs.) I'm hoping he can learn a second language while he's still young, but I may be hoping for too much.

A theatre that I'm going to on sunday... www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&address=1506+Eastport+Dr+Se&city=grand+rapids&state=mi&zipcode= Surrounded by "Cobb Dr." and "Saffron Ln." I find this incredibly humorous. Of course, it's been a long day, and I'm very tired. :P Nite.

Lawyers can be mean, no, no, really they can … So, any of you avidly following my progress in my bid to make my workplace more exciting, will know that yesterday I nicked my friend Jonathan’s Supaclip and sent a ransom note… Things deteriorated quickly … no sooner had Jonathan issued a Police press release with details of the suspected perpetrator, than he received a further message through the internal mail (yes, folks, me again) with a photocopy of his Supaclip, attached to a speech bubble saying “Daddy, where are you? It’s so dark …. Sooo dark… sob…” and the hideous words “you shouldn’t have called the police” scrawled across the bottom in a spidery hand … This caused a further “police” report and then – shock horror – when I came back from lunch, my little flip flap was missing. Flip flap is a plastic plant that flip flaps on my window sill. Eventually we agreed to have a cold war style hand over which was hampered some what by our discovery, when we tried to release Supaclip and Flip Flap at opposite ends of a corridor, that neither of them could walk (John Le Carre would not have been impressed) …. So today I’m looking for less-likely-to-backfire ways to enliven my office … And rest assured that, although somewhat traumatised by his kidnap, Flip Flap is now, slowly, learning to flip flap again …

The title says it all. First mom becomes ill and then last night Gram had a stroke! Geez. She will be fine but she won't be able to make pies this year. Darn, I was looking forward to that cherry cobbler. I just want New Years to get here. So lets see what else the universe can throw at me. Bring it on! Ash

So I promised myself I wouldn't do this and yet here I am contemplating writing up the best weekend ever! I'm not going to do that though, instead I thought I would recount some of the highlights from the weekend that was Serenity Squared. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined a Convention would be so much fun. But I somehow found myself driving into the Raddisson on Friday afternoon equal parts excited and petrified. So here are some things I learned. And some of my favourite moments. I’ve learned; - Sean Maher's first Chinese phrase was shuh muh?” - Morena has the mouth of a trucker. - Ron Glass is hi-larious drunk. - Joss is boss. - If it goes wrong it’s Summer’s fault. I’ve learned that Morena burnt her cleavage during the filming of Book’s death scene but I also learned that we didn’t hear that from Jewel. Nathan – “I did however burn the top of my head.” Jewel – “Yeah I burnt my parting. Morena burnt her cleavage. She put sunblock everywhere else but not there. Except you didn’t hear that from me.” Nathan – “Yeah she wouldn’t let us kiss her there for like a week.” Sean – “It was a looong week!” I learned that Nathan bought Summer a pumpkin carving kit and that the advances in pumpkin carving technology are just astounding. I learned it is possible to get up in front of your heroes, ask them a question and not wet yourself with fear. If I had done nothing else all weekend, Nathan singing me a song, Summer telling me I had a nice top and Jewel saying I looked good in my photo would have been worth the price of a ticket. I’ve learned what bukkake means. (Please don’t ask me!) Sean – “Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch” “I love you Nathan” I learned that Sean is an absolute star. How he signed all those autographs is beyond me. I learned Jewel’s mum is a sweetheart. Johnny Wallet and the church of the 11 fingers is so much better than regular church. It has whisky and everything. But it ain’t good for a hangover. I learned Michelangelo is a bit of a whore. I learned that Nathan can’t be sarcastic coz he’s too stupid for that! Someone was sick! I know nothing. Couldn’t tell ya. Bet the cleaners could though! Falling through a stack of chairs during the closing ceremony is not a good idea. Sean has the nicest hands!! Someone should have remembered that the contents of a water bottle is not always water. The gag reel was genius. Anything Firefly/Serenity related was gonna be a big hit though really. Nathan to crew guy – “So, if you could recast any actor on the film who would it be?” Crew guy – “Probably….. Nathan. Because he has many, many talents but none of them are acting. Con goers are such friendly people. When Jonathan brings whiskey, he never brings enough. On purpose! I’m sooo jealous of Matt. Summer knows him by name and everything. He is such a tease. What will she say in two weeks time? I learned that for 5 star hotel the Raddison certainly believes in air conditioning. Song of the con… 'Brrr, it’s cold in here.' The last song of the final disco of the greatest weekend ever should not have been ‘I’ve had the time of my life’. I told you all I was gonna cry. So, there are so many other things that were great about last weekend I couldn’t write them all down. But one other thing that’s for certain is that if there’s a Serenity3… I’m there. I wouldn’t have missed the last one for the world. Bukkake!! Much love Alison x-x-x-x

Well officially this is the *#%*& week, day, month, ever. I can't make this crap up. I have just been informed by my aunt that my OTHER grandmother just went into the hospital about an hour ago. I think my Grandmothers are in it together. Ha ha lets have the kids panic! Wheee what fun. I have no idea what is wrong with her. I am trying to get a hold of my dad but he is in the process of switching phone people. So he doesn't even know yet. Hell I even sent him an email and then realized DUH no phone equals no internet. So after work I plan to go to my dad's to let him know and then I will go home and hide under my covers.

Hubby and I are watching Gonzaga playing at the Maui Invitational. Go Zags! (It's half time.) He looks up and sees my Firefly DVDs and says, "Oh, I need to take those in for John(?). Oh, and Jim(?) says he wants to see them too. I've become your Firefly Apostle." Boooo. He then says John is going to try to burn his own, to which I say (jokingly-think lofty, snotty voice), "I don't condone piracy." He gives me a look (you know the kind). So, I say, "Tell him if he likes them he can at least buy them. No, tell him he can at least buy Serenity." Hubby says John hasn't seen Serenity. Then he says "it's a really good movie." What???!!! I think hubby is coming around.

I have seen this movie about 8 or 9 times in my relatively short 20 years and last night I picked up something I hadn't picked up on. OMG Adam Baldwin is in it and he hasn't realy changed at all (this movie was made in the mid-eighties) I almost dropped my popcorn I squealed so loud. Did the whole 'verses know this and not me or are there other ignorant ones out there?
Wednesday, 23 November 2005 14:53:12
I was watching War Stories last night and I decided to switch on the commentary because Alan is SO FUNNY in that one. I pick up my DVD remote and start pressing buttons, but nothing happens. I bang on it (why do we do this? It accomplishes nothing, yet anytime a remote or flashlight or something stops working, we bang on it. Crazy.) and of course it doesn't work. I hit the power button and then the DVD player turns on and I realize I'm not watching my DVD, I'm watching the Firefly marathon on SciFi!! Silly me.

I have hope that there will be good things happening for Firefly's future. I have this belief that Firefly will be back on the air soon and filming new episodes. It just seems incomplete to leave it where it left off with the show and the great plot with the movie. I was estatic about the movie and how Joss hadn't lost his touch of fantasy and humor. Firefly was one of the better shows that was on TV at the time. Now all they have is reality shows that push people to the limit of their emotions. It's sick how most people can only be entertained by someone elses pain. It really :pissed: pisses me off. Other than that I still have hope for Firefly.

I've been having a little trouble with writer's block, thanks to the music from a recently seen movie flooding my brain. This morning I sat down and was finally able to produce something worth keeping. Then my mom called and, while I was on the phone, my daughter added her own bit to my story. That, of course, degenerated into my typing while both kids zoomed around the room, loudly dictating their own versions of the story at the same time. Here is our combined work. (The alliterations are mine, not the kids.) “Kaylee!” Inara grabbed the napkin from the food tray and pressed it against Kaylee’s head. “Let’s get you down to the infirmary and have Simon take a look at this.” “Simon’s with the Cap’n.” Then comes Super Grace who will help Kaylee! Inara jumped for joy.” You came!” Inara yelled. ”Make her all better,” Inara said. Then Super Samuel scooped Kaylee up and zoomed to the infirmary. “Surgery, surgery!!!” He yelled. Super Grace, peeved that her pesky partner plucked the concussed Kaylee from under her very nose, follows after Super Samuel yelling, “Hey, gimme Kaylee! It’s my turn to be the super hero!” “Surgery! Surgery!” yells Super Samuel. “Off with her head!!” “Are you crazy?! What kind of super hero are you, anyway!!??”

I'm looking for insight. From You. After Malcolm Reynolds, Book is my favorite caracter. It's been said that Book may be based on St.Patrick who never spoke of his guilty consience about his crime(s) when he became a priest. Now that's a story I can dig my teeth into. But Wash? What do you see in Wash? Now consider that I'm trying to be civil and as considerate as possible: All I want is to see through your eyes. Plus I'm getting off my high horse, if that will help some. Just tell me what you see when you look at Hoban 'Wash' Washbourne ...

See, when the BDM was is theaters, I only got to see it once. I know, I know...what kind of Browncoat am I? And I also lent my season DVDS to friends, so now, I am bereaved. I have no Firefly, no Serenity till 27 days from now, and no soundtracks. How am I to survive? So I'm reading this one thread about a special viewing of a gag reel at some con or another that I couldn't go to and how it might not make it out onto the DVD. What?! That's not fair. *pouts and stomps around a bit.* But hopefully, it will, cuz gag reels are absolutely hysterically hilarious.

It's Mal-centric. Go figure. The song tickled me and it seemed to fit the theme. And it made me giggle, because I am three. Be warned, though, it has RUDE words in it. Go to this post...

Ok so im going to do this by day a bit at a time otherwise i will be typing all day So after the long waiting period Friday arrives and Keely & Sam turn up at my house *cough* late *cough* and we set off for the radisson hotel Heathrow.....we got lost, but sure as my miracle driving is and sams genius idea to call the hotel we found it (lets just say we were at the wrong Mcdonalds) Anyway we get there, park up, drag our cases into the poshest hotel ive ever seen. we decide our bags are too heavy to take up to our room ourselves and get the concierge to do it. After settleing in and checking out the mini bar prices, snorting and playing with the tv, we decide to go to the only sensible part of the hotel, the bar. there we find other randomers. We then decide to go check the place out before dinner. where about 15 of us all pile into the restaurant and confuse the waiter immensely. We all sang happy birthday to sean (citizen) and then it was time for the opening ceremony, we had lost the others and so myself, sam keely and sean found some seats and sat, and waited, and waited. finally neil roberts came out and the man is so funny, he introduced the guests in a way only the british can. I cant remember the order in which they came, but one by one we had, Sean Maher, Nathan Fillion, Jonathan Woodward, Summer Glau, Morena Baccarin, Christina Hendricks and Jewel Staite. Sean was so cute as he asked if we could hear how loud his heart was beating, i think I fell in love right then. And of course Jonathans first words?? I say BUKAKKE you say........ After the opening ceremony it was time to get ready for the party, And that we did, it was bollywood night and Jaina looked stunning in her sari, we grabbed our alcohol and went downstairs. The party was pretty much as any party, lots of people dancing, laughing and drinking, hugging, kissing and just having a great time. I didnt take many photos of that night at all but here is a few that were taken I had to put them like this cause i was having trouble re sizing

Ahh...last night I dreamt that Sean Maher came to visit me. It was soo nice. I was so happy, and I felt so cheated when I woke up! Oh I can't wait for the flan. I'm not sure what I love most about Sean...I do love his hands. And his eyes, and his smile...and his hair, Oh! And his arms. *sigh*

I just started yet another game of Jade Empire, this time on the Xbox 360. Luckily, this game runs a lot smoother than poor ol' KOTOR did. (Knights of the Old Republic, the best Star Wars game ever. Period.) KOTOR suffers from occasional framerate problems, particularly if your character is running, and some of the cut scenes don't look so pretty anymore. But the story is still neat, the amusing bickering with Carth, getting the Sith drunk and taking their armor. The fighting queue (where you can list what you want your character to do) and the plot twist. Just super. What can I say? I'm a fool for Bioware RPGs. It took all of my willpower to stop playing Jade Empire after only one hour. One hour is like playing only one tennis match, eating half a cookie, drinking a sip of a chocolate margarita. Two things made me want to play Jade again -- finding out that Nathan Fillion is Gao the Lesser and also checking out how bad a beating this Xbox game is taking on the new system. Luckily, it still looks awful fetching, the animations are still smooth. It may not have all the polish of a 360 game, but it looks better than Gun, a recently released game created for (I think) all consoles. And then there's Gao. He still sounds like a brat, a slightly drunk brat, not at all like Mal, which is just as it should be. Ah, Gao, all the threats, jealousy, sleaze. It's just like old times. It makes it even more rewarding listening to the dialogue when one knows who the actor is. And my character's name -- Aaiyah the Exclaimer, somewhat inspired by "Firefly." I am so P'ed off at the fact that at my local cinema they only showed Serenity for one week and at the most obscure times that i couldn't make, they got rid of it for Potter (damn him). Luckily i had seen the BDM once but I needed to see it again, now i have to wait a millennium for the UK DVD release...:pissed:

Thank you, Haken! The Christmas lights are back! I love it! Tis the season, indeed! :D I've already added the Xmas wreath to my VW bus today and I'm going back down later to put up the Xmas lights on the inside. ;D My wife just got back with her best friend from buying a whole crap load of decorations from Target and Kohl's. Oy vey! Tho I must admit she did really well and got about ten bags of stuff for less than $150! I think she might just be excited for it to be Christmas time. :)

Ok, I'm sure someone has thought of this but I just gotta put it out there anyway in case no one has. Johnny Cash recorded a wonderful song called "A Boy named Sue" about a man whose father named him Sue and then ran off. All the boys life he is teased and mocked and as a result he grows up to be a fighter. He doesn't take any crap- he is in short a total bad ass. One day he catches up to his long lost father who explains that he gave his son the name Sue, knowing that he wouldn't be around to help him through life and that he would need to get tought fast, which he did. I have always favored that as an explanation for Jayne being called Jayne- as a way to insure he would grow up strong and capable of surviving. Anyway if you've never heard the song, listen to it. Johnny Cash was a genius and that song is one of his most memorable ballads. "My name is Sue how do you do? Now you're gonna die."

*door bangs* No one expects the Firefly Inquisition! Among our weapons are fear, surprise, DVD sets, Web sites, and a ruthless almost fanatical devotion to Joss Whedon! So, yeah, my best friend was in town for Thanksgiving, and I gave him a Firefly DVD set as an early Christmas present. He's a big Buffy fan, but he knows absolutely nothing about Firefly. Meaning he has no idea what kind of sweet, sweet pain awaits. Oh, but he will. In the immortal words of Dionne Warwick, that's what friends are for. Still have several more DVD sets wrapped and ready to give out for Christmas gifts. Bring on the pain. +++ Just picked up an Xbox 360, and I'm pretty sure I would kill a man in cold blood for a next-gen Firefly RPG. I'm looking at you, Bioware. For the game, not the killin'. Fillion worked on Jade Empire, so we know you already have him on speed dial. Bioware? Are you even listening to me?!? OK, what did I just say? (Hint: Speed dial.) +++ Here's one of those questions that has plagued mankind since the beginning of time: Why is it that Chris Cornell's music expresses Whedon characters so well? Is it the voice? The poetic angst? Does he go home after a concert and watch Buffy marathons? Was Cornell himself created by Whedon? It's tootsie roll center syndrome. The world may never know. +++ I'm working (loose definition) on a collaborative Firefly fic with my wife. It's big with the episodic western-ness and humor, which is cool since my last story was - urm - not. That woman amazes me. She's such a gifted poet that she can sit there and basically doodle prose in stream of consciousness... and suddenly there's this wonderfully askew, abstract vision that makes you question the way you see the world. Then she'll call it crap and trash it. Seems almost a shame to have her writing fic. It's like giving Beethoven a banjo. Play the Fifth, Cletus.

Well, on Tuesday this week (which was the 22nd) I had been here a whole year! Its been a marvellous year and I've really enjoyed getting to know many of you! And I look forward to getting to know many many more of you over what I hope will be many more years here! If it weren't for this site, well...things in my life would be rather different right now. For a start, I wouldn't have as many friends as I do. And I'd be missing some truly great ones. And...I never ever would have gone to the Serenity convention in April...which just started a kind of whirlwind crazy con-addiction which ended up in me meeting the whole cast, which has been AMAZING. I never would have gotten 3 hugs from Summer. Not to mention 4 hugs and 4 kisses from Jewel! I never would have touched Sean. Never would have made Morena laugh. I wouldn't be going to the Flanvention in 11 days! I never would have met someone who I really really like a lot right now. And I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun this year as I have. Now....thank you's... First, thank you very much to Haken, for doing such a great job running my favourite website. Thank you very very very much to EvilBunnies, who introduced me to Firefly. I love it so so much and am eternally grateful to you for introducing me to it! And thank you very very very much to all of TEAM RANDOM! You guys are great. You give me so much fun and you always make me smile and laugh, you make me feel special and I know that there's always someone I turn to who will listen and understand. And thank you to everone on the TREE! I have had so much fun in those threads. And tommorrow (the 27th) is my one year TREE anniversary! Thank you all! *Raises a glass to a year of fun!* *Downs it* P.S. Dont worry Fray101, CallMeSerenity, it was only coke.

Why is is that you can always find distractions to exploit while you're supposed to be working on something incredibly important. I have a 20 page essay that I'm supposed to be working on that's due on Tuesday. I only have about 5 pages of it written so far, and it'll be a Herculean task for me to get the other 5 done by midnight. So far, over the course of the last two days, I've slept, slept some more, walked, worked on a group thing that in the grand scheme of things I didn't have much involvement with, watched movies, DVD's, roleplayed, ate and all sorts of stuff that has kept me from finishing this essay up as soon as possible. Despite pulling late nighters and having caffeince cocktails (two sugarless Red Bulls and a 24 oz black coffee), I still can't seem to finish it. I get started, but I get sidetracked easily as soon as I get a good momentum going. Why the fuck am I even writing this? I should get back to work. If you're going to respond to this, have your responses be more on the lines of "WHY ARE YOU READING THIS. GET BACK TO WORK, YOU LAZY BASTARD."

I'd like to welcome all the people who have recently come to this great 'verse of ours. You will meet many fans, crazys and Firefly Junkies who can quote episodes by heart. Some of us can quote chinese references by heart. Here's my Beef: I sense that we are holding back to writing opinions because we're afraid to spoil someone else's fun. Spoilers are things you know early on and are kind-of expected to keep to your self. But if you're new and don't want others to rob you of your Discovery of a precious FF moments...GET AWAY FROM THIS BOARD ! I'm not for unification. I despise the concept of fascism. But could we all agree that if you held back from running after cars, you wouldn't get run over. And we could all drive around like normal people... Pffff, that felt good. Harsh, though. No, it was harsh... You can tell me...

Us Fans can do this fans can bring the show back. Watch the reruns on SciFi and buy the entire season of FireFly on DVD, Go see Serenity in the theatre's or wait till it comes out on DVD or why not just do both. The fans of family guy brought by the show do to the high DVD sales and the Fans of STArgate SG-1 brought back the show by high ratings of the reruns on the SciFi channel. So do the same if those other fans can do it so can we.

If anyone can tell me what my house looks like, I’d LOVE to know! Yes, I’m in the office again!! It’s Sunday afternoon and its already dark outside and I haven’t had a day off in 3 weeks … Junior doctors be damned – at least when they work long hours they get the heartfelt thanks of little old ladies, candy from children and everyone’s respect for doing a “sterling job” – What do we lawyers get? That’s right (go to the top of the class), we get the following: 1) The disapprobation of the world. Only estate agents (realtors for you Americans out there) are considered lower on the evolutionary scale (at least here in the UK); and 2) Complaints by our crappy clients that we charge them too much for our services. Really, I wouldn’t have to be here today, were it not for the inability of the “compliance officer” in my client company to actually COMPLY with UK law – gorramit – the clue is in his job title, for heaven’s sake!! Anyhoo, rant over… If anyone would like to describe to me the lovely way they are enjoying their Sunday afternoon (in their own home or out with friends), so that I can live vicariously through them, I would not be averse to reading it!!

Why Wash? Why the Shepherd? Why take perfectly innocent people and kill them off in the space of a second? Okay, true, for all we know, Book might not be "perfectly innocent," considering we don't know his history, but Wash....Who knows. Why we need a second movie or, preferably, another series/season: to see the effect of these deaths, the effect of Mal leaving the Operative alive, of Mal showing the 'verse Miranda. We need to see how Zoe deals, how the ship is still piloted without Wash's magic skills, if the Operative will come back to "haunt" the crew for Mal's pity--some call it stupidity--and how River fits in with the crew now. How will the Alliance function now that the 'verse knows its deepest, literally darkest secret? All these, and more, were left with us at the end of the BDM. Will our BDH's make it through another day, while love keeps her in the air when she should fall down? Here's hoping for answers to these questions.

I will be done the lion share of my schoolwork for this semester. After spending four days in front of a computer screen, I have finally finished my 20 page essay comparing Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING and David Cronenberg's THE DEAD ZONE for my Cronenberg class. Now all I have to do is write a four page individual analysis of this documentary short I worked on in my doc class that's due tomorrow at 11:30. Shouldn't take too long tomorrow morning and thank god for double spacing. I can spend the rest of the day going over the essay and proofreading it to make it better, and hopefully getting my FIREFLY DVD's back from a buddy of mine that I lent them too. Then comes the Cronenberg class, where I'll finally hand in the damn thing, get ED WOOD back from one gal, and ask another gal out for coffee. Hopefully when it comes to that, I won't go all Simon on her Kaylee. After that, all I have to do is watch some other docs from the other doc classes, watch SINGING IN THE RAIN in my very last class and then go home to work on the farm. And only one final for me. Here's hoping that it's uphill for me after tomorrow. And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch MY NAME IS EARL and THE OFFICE and then go to bed.
Tuesday, 29 November 2005 09:23:12
Thanks everyone, for being so nice about my fanfic, Thank you so much for being so great and more will be added and edited now that I know everyone liked it. P.S. It's a pretty duck outside, nice and mild with a pretty sunset.

I just found out that one of the TA's for my animal bio class is a browncoat :) We were working in the computer lab today, using excel to analyze the data for this god awful fish experiment we've been doing all term, and she was helping me out with some of the calculations on my laptop. When I started closing everthing up, she noticed my serenity wallpaper. We got into this long conversation about the fabulousness of all things Joss, it was fun.I just though that was cool. Also, on a completely different note, I have only 2 weeks left in this term, then the freedom of winter break. And you all know what that means: Non-stop FF and Serenity for 2 and a half weeks. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Mine is an evil laugh!

Well, I finally handed in my two things. I feel more exhausted than relieved. And the gal I asked out for coffee for after Xmas, she said yes to the coffee. But no to the implication. Turns out, she already has a boyfriend. To tell you the truth, I wasn't really surprised by the response. I find that a lot of women I'm attracted to in my classes tend to have boyfriends already. Whether or not this is actually true, I leave unanswered. And even though I've been cruising around lavalife and thinking about writing them a check to expand my membership, I've been thinking about just throwing in the towel over the whole dating thing. School hasn't actually been a really good place to find women for me. I think the idea of picking someone up at the bar is an obsolete ideal, since everyone seems to go to the bar for everything EXCEPT finding someone. I tried internet dating, but the only gals who accept my e-mails for invites normally weigh twice as much as me. Every successive date I've had has slimmed down a bit, but their weight still digs into my belt buckle when we watch something on tv. And the last one was a suicidal divorcee, so she was really cheery. I know this sounds sexist, but come one. Wouldn't you like to go ot with someone whose at least fit and doesn't run the risk of crushing you when you're on the couch watching something? I hear about how often you find the right person when you're not looking, but I'm always unclear about it. Do you just say "I am no longer looking for someone." and just do nothing? I think by stating the above, you ruin your chances since your "not looking" is actually looking in a way. And if you do truly just give up and just focus on other things in your life, don't you run the risk of being some loser who spends his life in front of a computer or a tv screen? I spent my summer filming people declaring their love for one another. Everywhere I go, I see classmates who are happy couples and shit like that. For once, I'd like to experience that. Not just for sex, I've done that already, but for intimacy and for closeness. I'm tired of watching. I want to experience it for real. I know I sound like a whiny bitch, but is it too much to ask?

Hi! Just a brief introduction. I've been a fan of Firefly since it first appeared on the network that shall not be named. I drifted away during its "hiatus," but returned in full gear (metaphorically speaking) when I heard about the movie. Been watching the reruns on SciFi here in Kentucky, and saw the BDM twice before it left the local theater. Both the Series and Movie DVD's are now on my Christmas list! I found this site a couple of months back, and have been lurking around ever since. I've read quite a bit of the FanFic--awesome stuff everyone!--and have been inspired to try my hand. Someday soon I hope to post something, just want to tweak it a bit more, and have somebody beta it for me. That about covers it for today. Talk at you again later. "I love my captain."

Well its the week after the week after the con, and what a con it was. Doesn't seem to match up to Fusion but that was one of a kind  I felt like i knew so many people and that to me, makes the con. None of this meeting the guests malarky hehehe - although getting lush pics with Nathan, Sean and Jonathan helps (thanx to the brilliant photographer for making me look half decent!) Had the best time, kept seeing people i knew all over the place, that you never meet outside of a con. Roll on NFA

I spend most of today herding small dinosaurs around, got told of by the Keeper of the Museum for dropping one and hurting it. I felt bad. since arriving home i've 'et almost my own body weight in choclate crispy cakes, and re-written my c.v. Its all true, but boy can I make it sound as though the sun shines out of mine. I may post it one day as a shining example of 'based on a true story'fantasy
