LONG TIME COMING...

Wednesday, December 14, 2005 8:20:39 PM

Yeah, so I get all excited about finding this site, and make some big ol' plans about exploring and participating and being a good cyber-citizen and all that stuff...

...And then I download a trojan horse onto my 'puter, effectively hamstringing my ability to connect with the 'Net at all.

So the moral of the story is that one should not ever open an email from the CIA, no matter how scary and convincing it checks out. One should apparently trust that, as my hubby so succinctly put it, "If the CIA wants a word with you personally, it won't be by email."

Live and learn, I guess. Now I just need to find an effective way to wipe the little trojan bastard out of my machine. :) In the meantime, there's always the school computer lab...

Sigh... Maybe Santa will bring me 'Serenity' for Yule. :)

I can say, however, that the bits and chunks I've been able to get my hands on around here impress the crap out of me. The fan-fic is of a scary-cool quality, and the general commentary is insightful and articulate. The fact that it's all about this phenomenon called 'Firefly' makes it even cooler.

You folks rock. Thanks for being an island in a fast-flowing river of Life Happens.

Happy Holidays and stuff--

Biography
Once upon a time, I was born.

I wish that time had been about 976 someplace Old Norse-like; friends tell me I would make more sense, then.

But I'm not dead yet, at any rate. That's something, right?

I read. A lot. I write. A lot. Music mostly, but some poetry and fiction and fan-fiction as well. My recent forays into the world of Firefly fanfic has been a lot of fun, in no small part because nobody laughed and threw rocks at me. Thanks, folks--and I mean that most sincerely.

I perform with a couple music ventures and upon occasion, solo. I feed the crows in my front yard. I adopt strays. I own my own sword and spear. I am irreverent, blunt, and as subtle as a groin pull. I listen to the Sex Pistols and the Ramones, the Cantigas de Santa Maria and music of the Sephardic Jews; Godsmack and Johnny Cash and Static-X and Bob Seger.

I'm probably old enough to be your mother.

So, there.
