I feel like writing Fan Fiction

Hi,

You know after reading quite a few firefly/serenity fan fictions on here and on ff.net I feel like writing one my self.

Where do I start? Should I start before the movie or after?

Do I need to use chinese? I noticed they dont allways seem to use it.

Can I make it as if Book and Wash are still alive if I make it after the movie? Can I create a new character?

I have never really written fan fiction so I dont really know the rules of the game or the do's and the donts of fan fictin
