i have now officially purchased 6 copies of the boxed set of FireFly DVDs. 3 are out in the world, 2 more will go when they arrive, and 1 stays with me, never to be loaned out again! People that have seen my DVDs have purchased them 2 out of 3 times, with the last 1/3 of the holdouts pleading temporary poverty. So, the personal record for FireFly DVD purchases stands at 6. Anybody beat that? I AM THE MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE!

Alright, everyone remember that really heavy looking door that River pushed open when the three of them were running from the Blue Hands? If anyone else noticed, Jayne left it open when he and Simon passed through and it didn't look like closin' anytime soon. So how did it close? And another thing, I thought it was funny that Mal grabbed Kaylee, spinned her around and hugged her from behind when he asked Simon if he got what he needed. Just a cutesy little thing I caught. Anyone know what River said when she woke up? Another thing, you'd think [i]someone[/i] would have seen the way that 3D image of River's brain changed so suddenly just before she screamed.

Well, I've been home for quite sometime now. And It's about time to head back out to the Stan. For those of you familiar with me (the guy flipping off the camera with his finger on fire) then you'll know I'm headed back to the same spot me and Static were at back in 03-04. I'm excited to go, and can't wait, although it'll be quite different with out the ones who were with me last time. DRACOS

I went and saw Hellboy with a friend yesterday and I decided to tell you folks about it since it's just another excuse to blog. The movie is, in short, extremely extremely cool. It was quite simply the best comic-book movie since X2 which I still hold is superior to Spider-man in every way. The special effects and acting are great, the characters are all well cast, and the dialogue is extremely witty (theres actually a joke about demons and cats that will strike any fan of Buffy as extremely ironic). The plot , while somewhat cliched, was interesting enough to keep you watching the screen, and yes, even the half hour of preveiws was good (except for The Punisher which I just dont get). As far as the downside goes there are a few problems but thankfully, none of them are terribly large. The plot, as I said, was slightly cliched, the romance element (while well acted and written) seemed kind of goofy, it was fairly obvious that the film was designed as an origins peice for the group and as a setup for a potential franchise (not something Ill complain about), and some characters (like the fishman, Abraham Sapien) were underused. Another problem with the film is that it dosent include the audience as much as some other films do. This is a double edged sword whenever it's used and I think it will definately hurt Hellboy in the box-office. The problem is that while having the characters move along as they would if they were all experienced monster hunters and generaly adding to the realism and entertainment value of the film, there is no explanation of whats going on and whats going to happen next at the major plot points in case you went to the bathroom or answered your cell-phone and had a little chat with Bill from the office because youre the kind of jackass who does that kind of thing and wont leave the theater or turn your gorramn phone off (sorry, pet-peeve). The preceeding was a very long and nonsensical paragraph and I apologize. So. In conclusion, I dont like giving films a ratingbut if I had to I'd give Hellboy three and a half stars or two thumbs up or nine out of ten happy faces or or the little drawing of the guy thats so happy he looks like hes going completely bat-shit or... or... you get the picture. -Dracos Note:[i] the author of the preceeding reveiw has never before had a conversation with a person familiar with Hellboy nor has he ever so much as read or even touched a Hellboy comic. This reveiw was written as the film was watched: objectively and as its own entity. Please keep this in mind when you consider flaming me becasue I wrote a shining reveiw of the film that destroyed your favorite comic book ever. [/i] Remember to come back next time when Dracos reveiws The Ladykillers or something!

I forgave Fox for their stupidity over Firefly and Family Guy because, well, they've produced some great shows. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Family Guy, The Simpsons.... more that I can't think of off the top of my head. They've even ressurected Family Guy and Firefly is gonna be a Big Damn Movie so, I couldn't really hate them. But now they've cancelled Wonderfalls after 3 episodes (maybe 4, I don't think I've seen the latest one... I'm in England, it's hard to get them over here!) and it was really good!! The other thing is, I like Tim Minear. He seems like a really nice guy. He's someone I'd like to chat to and have indepth discussions about irreverent junk with. The only other one of the writers I can say that about it Joss, and while I'm a big fan of all the other writer's work I'm not keeping an eye on their careers trying to watch everything they do. So man, do I feel sorry for him right now, network's need to respect artists gorramit! Yesterday, I didn't hate Fox. Today I don't either, but dammit I don't like them. They've had the chance to produce quality television on so many occasions and screwed it up because of the money. This never would have happened in the England.... Then again, we probably wouldn't have taken the risk on brilliant programming in the first place, at least we can be thankful for 3/4 eps. Rant over. In conclusion, Fox suck.

Alright, I had a bunch of stuff that I picked up on when I watched Serenity the other day but now I can only remember one thing. Did Mal have a ponytail when we first saw him? I’m finally back online after doing some archiving work on my iMac. Basically, I loaded down my machine with so many image files (I went to a digital camera this year,) that the computer was :knife:. So it’s good to be back. I’m really bummed about “Wonderfalls.” Why do all the good shows get cancelled and why did I expect Fox to do anything different? Okay, so what should I watch now that “Wonderfalls” is gone? So after four days of rain in Southern New Mexico and Texas, we’ve had flash flooding, submerged homes and a major interstate washed out. I use to live in Seattle, so I thought the rain was really cool. The dessert smells like heaven when it rains. However, there is a pretty significant part of our driveway that has washed down the street. You have to take the good with the bad. Also, I’m fairly disturbed….apparently I’m Jayne and I don’t even own a firearm! I want to go see “Hellboy!” ___________________________________ We’ve got a good amount of inertia going here.

I've been a fan of firefly since previews for the tv show came out. It's taken 'til now for me to get around to this :knife: . I bought the boxed set for my hunn-i-mon :kiss: this past holiday season. We ate it up. limited ourselves to watching just an episode or two at a time. When we'd gone through the whole episode lineup, we re-watched all the other stuff :smokin: . We want more. Really hope someone brings it back as a tv show again after the movie. Last night after watching 'Serenity' and 'The Train Job' he's relating with Mal, and asking me how much he can pick up a boxed set for. I tell ya... This show almost makes getting the converts too easy. Chalk up another one for me on the big board. :biggrin:

Tomorrow is the day of prom at our school, and the last day before Spring Break. So since it is a wasted day for us all to babysit nutty children, I let my students choose either reading Great Expectations silently, or watching the Firefly pilot. They opted for the pilot. So we shall see how the high school kids like Firefly. Hopefully, this time tomorrow I will be able to report on 34 new converts.

Not that I would want to join it, since I have no intention of attempting a cure of my Firefly addiction. A couple of weeks ago I lent out disc 1 in hopes of recruiting another Browncoat, and since up to that point I had only watched the dvd episodes in order each time, I intended to take a break from the show until I got it back...but I couldn't do it. At first I told myself I would just watch the special features on disc 4. But that was not enough to satisfy my cravings, so I watched my favorite ep (Objects in Space), first with the commentary, then watched it again normally. In the time I was without disc 1 there was only two days in which I did not watch any Firefly, but then I finally got it back and went on a viewing frenzy. Thursday night I watched both Serenity and The Train Job's commentary, then last night rewatched both of those eps straight, along with Bushwacked. Tonight I intend to watch at least two eps, maybe more. This will be either the 10th or 11th time I have watched them since getting the dvds in early December, and there is no sign of me tiring of them yet. In fact, they get better with each viewing.

Okay, that isn’t entirely true. I can find my desk. I know where it is, still in my office, but I can’t see top of it or any square inch of space where I might pile more material. So I guess I really ought to clean it and put some stuff away before I continue on my merry way. The cause of all this is pictures. Last week they slowed down my computer, this week they clutter my desk. Next week I hope the albums that the pictures are in will be cluttering up my bookshelves. See the progression? Our dog got a clean bill of health from the vet! It was her annual check-up and shots, so she is good to go for another year. The vet said her teeth were in better shape than most people’s. Which reminds me, I need to floss. I’ve got to get ready for Wednesday. I lead my writing group this week and I had originally planned to take in a series of pictures and have people write about whatever the pictures brought to mind. We’ve got a guest writer coming this week and she’s visually impaired so I’ve got to come up with some tactile objects from around the house to add to my pictures. I also thought about ground spices, or maybe scented oils would help evoke some sensory memories for group members. I wonder what Serenity would smell like? Last week our writing group walked to a horse farm to see the new babies. That didn’t really evoke much for me. I thought they were cute and I enjoyed being out on the farm but I didn’t write anything about horses. I ended up writing about taking the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island. I miss Seattle a lot. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to live anywhere again where the sun isn’t out everyday? You get really spoiled in the Southwest with all the bright light and brilliant blue sky. Ok well after the 1st fifteen minutes I jump up and said in my best Mudder impression “It’s Jayne!” Adam acts a lot lake Jayne because he betrays his friends then has a change of hart (But they don’t show what happens after.) Second the town preacher (he even calls himself a Sheppard) takes up arms. I say to my self “The bible is fuzzy in the area of kneecaps.” Mel Gibson’s character talks about some fort where Indians working for the French slaughter settlers. I immediately think of Reavers. And when he talks about what his men did to the Indians I started thinking about that Alliance Officer in ‘Bushwhacked’ “I haven’t see that kind of brutality since well since the war.” Then there is a scene where Mel’s character and his son are talking and Mel (wow I almost typed MAL!) is cutting an apple before eating it. Maybe the British used ‘Grizwalds’? In the very end Mel does a Mal with his pistol (its kind of out of frame) but he flips his pistol end over end and starts hitting the British Calvary commander with it ala ‘Hart of Gold’.

Whoo! Dune -and- Children of Dune were on consecutively on SciFi yesterday. 12 hours of Dune lovin'. While the miniseri (or is it miniseries'...who knows) can't hold a candle to reading the books, they're still awesome. I have to wonder if they're planning on making God Emperor of Dune a miniseries too. But honestly, who knows what SciFi is thinking. And how they would ever pull off the effects needed to portray Leto is beyond me. Well, I just thought I would share my Dune experience for the weekend. Enjoy your week! PS - Did anyone else notice that the Matrix Revolutions totally stole that whole thing with Neo being blind but still able to see from Dune? So this is probably gonna sound a little strange but... Is there anyone out there that knows Latin? If so can you translate something for me? If you answered yes to both these questions could you translate: "If the classes don't kill you, the food will." for me? To answer the obvious question of "Why do you need [i]that[/i] translated": I'm currently doin the college thing and my friends and I were recently discussing what our school motto should be. Considering that we were eating at the cafeteria at the time, the above sentence was suggested and unanimously voted to be the winner. So, just for kicks, I have decided to use my Photoshop skills (what very little I have) to create a new school logo featuring the slogan. Seeing as how many schools have their motto displayed in Latin, I decided it would be best to follow suit. However, I don’t know any Latin, no one I know does, and I can’t find anywhere on the net to do it for me. So there it is. Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

It was on the bus ride home that I got to thinking about summer 05, the summer of [i]Serenity[/i]. I kept thinking how cool it would be to go line up kinda early and maybe meet some other Browncoats while I waited. Then I started to think about who I could dress up as. I settled on dressing like Kaylee from [i]Serenity[/i] when she's sitting in front of the ship or trying to find someone to make a cunning Janye hat from [i]The Message[/i] for me. :biggrin: Is it too early for these thoughts? Am I being super geeky or just really normal for a Firefly fan? I mean, I have never ever considered dressing up for a movie before; I came close with Episode II for Star Wars but all I wore was the T-shirt I had bought for Episode I. I guess this shows how much I love Firefly. I'm planning my day around a movie that hasn't even begun filming yet. :biggrin:

So when he asked for some assistance I volouteered some ideas and we kinda started to bash out some really kool ideas. This is pretty trivial (okay, it’s really, really trivial.) What is it with these stupid self-check- out terminals at the grocery store? When I first heard about the concept I thought, “Wow, cool, I bet I could check-out, bag my groceries and get home to watch Firefly in record time.” Ohhh….how wrong I was! I consider myself a fairly technologically savvy person. I can handle computers, pdas, automatic tellers and any other electronic device that rears its ugly head. The problem with these self-check-out machines is the store is so focused on preventing fraud and the slight possibility that you might walk out with a kiwi fruit or a pack of gum you didn’t pay for that the machines are impossible to use. They freeze up at the slightest provocation and if you take your freshly bagged groceries off the “bagging area” the machine has a hissy fit and screams at volumes that can be heard throughout the store, “Item removed from bagging area.” Yea, you piece of :censored: machine, I had to take my groceries out so I could open another bag to put more items in. If the machine didn’t freeze after this little proclamation, I could have lived with it. Then there was the inevitable price argument with the grocery Overlord. The grocery Overlord’s job is to watch five self-check-out machines simultaneously and come and offer cheerful and helpful advice if you or your machine encounters a problem. So I say to the Overload, “This item scanned incorrectly, the price should be 2/$5.00.” The grocery Overlord frowned, yanked the item out of my hand, scanned it herself, consulted her master list and announced, “No that is the correct price.” “No, it isn’t,” I said, “There’s a sign the size of my torso, that says 2/$5.00$.” The Overlord rolls her eyes, gives me a pissed off look and calls one of her underling grocery trolls over. “Go see if you can find a sign by this item that says 2/$5.00$.” The troll is gone an interminable amount of time. My co-pilot and I stand around making small talk with the smarter grocery shoppers, who had actually chosen to go to a human checker. When the troll comes back, she says, “There isn’t any sign that says 2/$5.00.” I’m pissed as hell, but at this point, I’m tired, I’m hungry, it’s late and we’ve already been standing in the damn grocery store forever. “Fine.” I hiss. The Overlord gives me a gloating look. I finish paying for the groceries and as I’m walking out she says in her best condescending voice,” If you want to bring me the sign, I’ll give you the 2/$5.00 price.” “Fine.” A little smile brightens my face and I stalk down the grocery isle, rip the sign off the grocery case and charge triumphantly up to her register. It’s a real burn being right so often. She looks first visibly shocked that the sign actually exists, then she’s incredibly pissed. She hunts down the grocery troll who couldn’t find the sign and shakes both the sign and the item in her face, there by demonstrating her superb leadership and management skills. I get my money, my items and a half-assed apology from this hwoon dahn. It’s good to know customer service isn’t dead. I would rather have dental surgery than have to deal with that machine again. I would also love to shop at another grocery store but they are the only grocery chain in town, except for Wal-Mart, who I also loathe but for different reasons. What’s in the CD player: Ollabelle. And speaking of Holes In My Brain, Quentin Tarantino-- as cliche as his name has become-- goes on the list, too, and shame on me for forgetting. Props to him as a director-- the "House of Blue Leaves" sequence in KBV1 shows just how good with the camera he truly is. Beautiful shots, but he actually made the action VISIBLE, as opposed to most Hollywood action scenes where the camera shakes, the actors fall around, I think I see a fist and I'm vaguely aware there's an action sequence. (this even happened in 'Hulk' ... when the dogs vs. Hulk was completely CGI!! What the hell??) Right. So. As a writer. If you haven't seen KB2, I won't spoil it for you... ((and if you're not gonna see it, then I can't see how Firefly doesn't offend you either)) ... but there's a monologue Bill gives at the end, that's just good stuff. Classic movie moments. The stuff that sticks in your head and you remember years down the road..... Hollywood makes SO many movies, and maybe three a year are really, really Will-Last-Forever good. Today was 4/20. I'm cleaning up my shelves when I see it. Sitting there, beneath a friendly reminder to come on down to Chef Chu's Chinese Food. My tax return. Ready to go, let's just say, a few weeks ago, and it's sitting there taunting me, "Ha-HA, you stupid loser, you FORGOT, didn't you?! This is how much you SUUUUUCK. I'll be in my bunk." And that's when I made my decision. I am going to secede from the union. No longer must I pay taxes to an I.R.S. which wishes to make things as complicated as possible, for I am a member of my own sovereign nation. I will work out the details with the U.S. Government in the coming months, as I will have to be President, Dignitary, Ambassador and Lord Governor all at once. Diplomatic Immunity will keep me out of traffic tickets when I step off my property and back into the United States. And I'll have to start wearing a brown coat. Because, you see, I am certain that as negotiations continue over the next few months, the U.S. Government will decide it is easier to kill me, because they want unification, and not independence. We’re in the midst of my co-pilot’s five day birthday bash. We decided if the Italians could celebrate Easter for five days, we could do it for a birthday. Tonight’s dinner is consisting of wine and cheese. I love being an adult or resembling one enough that what and when I eat are left to my discretion. When this is all over, I’m off to my mom’s for a couple weeks. She’s having knee surgery and I’m playing nurse to her and nanny to my four-year-old niece. Since I don’t have kids, I’m not quite sure how you entertain a kid for two weeks, but I’ll think of something. I won’t teach her to say dirty words in Chinese :biggrin: I also can’t get her to watch “Firefly” DVDs with me, since mom does not own a television. Despite my impending exile to the land that DVDs forgot, I’m just really happy right now. I’m actually happier at this point in my life than I ever thought I’d be. For the past two weeks, I've been working on a piece for my art class. I did a recreation of the Reaver blueprints. I did it on some actual blue prints. I thought it turned out great, but my art teacher thought otherwise. She said that I wasn't using up the space correctly, and that I needed something else to pull it all together. But what really pissed me off, was she thought it was star wars! Well, I turned it in w/out her input, and I hope I will get it back soon, so I can post it here. I also have begun work on a large art piece which will show the cross section of [u]Serenity[/u]; much like in the Star Wars cross section books. I will post these pictures as soon as I get them. As some of you may remember, I had once posted a fic entitled “Second Chances”. Well, as some of you may have noticed, that story has been gone for some time. I was never truly happy with what I had written. I know some of you had read it, and it did receive two or three positive comments. Unfortunately when I began to write the sequel, that I had left a huge opening for, it became clear to me that I did not like one bit where it was heading. I became so blocked in my attempts to write the sequel that I knew I was never going to get it finished. So I removed “Second Chances” from the Blue Sun Room. I didn’t want those few people who had enjoyed my fic to be waiting for a sequel that was clearly never going to get posted. Here’s the good news… I hope… With the encouragement and help of Bags, Artships, and some other good friends, I have been working on “Second Chances; The Director’s Cut”. There is now a shiny new & original ship for my crew in the works, a new prologue written, and the story itself has gone through some major re-writes. Soon, a week or so at least, I will begin to post my story once again. Here’s hoping I’ll be able to entertain my fellow Browncoats, in a good way, with my old & improved story. :biggrin:

We're all very optimistic and excited about "Serenity," coming not-soon-enough to a Theater Near Us. But I'd like to be the lone voice of cynicism and point of the Top 5 Things that could ROYALLY screw up this movie, and hope the appropriate people see this before shooting begins. 5) If the movie opens within 8 weeks of Star Wars, in either direction. Don't do it. I know, I know, the Star Wars Prequels have been losing steam, particularly because they suck, but EIII is a DIRECT prequel to "A New Hope," it's the last one Lucas will ever make, the SW DVD Box Set comes out around the same time, and we ALL will go just on the off chance Jar Jar will die a horrible, screaming death. Plus, we don't want the public to confuse two Space Movies. 4) If Sarah Michelle Gellar is in this. We all love her, but thanks to The WB, "Buffy" is forever lumped in the same group with crap like "Charmed" and "I Know What Dawson's 7th Scream Was About Last Summer." Not by me, but by people we'll be recommending the movie to between now and '05. 3) Product Tie-Ins. Yeah, the show is in the future, but the Evil of the Studio is subtle. Maybe it's a catch-phrase, maybe it's a two-bit hack actor who will be on a sitcom the next fall. Remember when Jennifer Garner was in "Catch Me if You Can" for no reason? That's what I'm talkin' bout... no matter how hot she is. 2) The soundtrack. Slightly-under-the-radar bands on "Buffy" was cool, but I swear to god, if any member of Nickelback appears within 50 feet of this movie, I will murder people. Let Joss handle it, keep Studio out of it. 1) The Marketing Campaign. This has been done before, and badly: If you never watched X-Files or Star Trek, did those posters and TV spots make you want to see the movie? Of COURSE they didn't. Joss can break some new ground, if he doesn't get sucked down the "Alien: Resurrection" hole again. We love you Joss, and like any loved one, we fear for your safety. Two quick things: First, I'm not happy with the title of this Blog, but I needed something to offset the other, previous "Reasons to Fear 'Serenity,'" which made me sound like an a-hole, but c'mon, I made some good points. Second, we all know this movie's gonna be good. Great. But the following could push the movie beyond, into Legend: 5) Score. We already know the dialogue is going to be quotable, which arguably is the best way to make a movie Immortal (Star Wars IV & V, anything Monty Python... the list goes on). Can Joss integrate a pop song into the movie, and not make it obtrusive? If not (and when the studio asks, I hope they say NO), can the score be as memorable as Star Wars? You can't outdo the orchestra, but underdoing it with acoustic guitar could be bloody brilliant. 4) Joss. The Actor. I feel bad putting this number 4, but I feel very strongly about this. If no one has created a "Numfar" fansite, I'm about $20 away from buying an HTML book and building one myself. Numfar is the MAN... can Joss give himself THE cameo? Not Hitchcock standing by the front door; not Shyamalan locking an alien in the cupboard... I mean, y'know, the ONE. The one we haven't seen yet. Something like Walken in Pulp Fiction, except... better. I'm babbling. 3) Is it GRAND? Is it an EPIC? ... Or is it just a TV show on the movie screen? I get in more arguments with people about the X-Files movie, because it was just a 2-hour TV show. It was shot like a TV show, it was written like a TV show, it was acted like a TV show. It was budgeted like a feature film, but that don't make it so. The film screen has WIDTH. It has DEPTH. Both figuratively AND emotionally. You know the only movies that figure this out? Cartoons. Think "Duck Tales: The Movie." Think, wait for it, the epic Shakespearian makeover that was "Transformers: The Movie." "Dude, Quicksand, you're a crack smoker." Okay, just think of 1989's Batman. Except, replace the TV show with the graphic novel, and that's what Serenity needs. BIGGER, WIDER (David Lean used to use the Extreme Wideshot all the time; John Ford, Kurosawa. They gave movies SIZE, SCALE. Even James Cameron does this. X-Files? TV show). Long story short: Joss supposedly did MAJOR rewrites on "Speed." That movie had the DEPTH, the EMOTION, and more than one location. Okay, it had 3 locations, but that was also the same number of characters it had, and Serenity has nine, THAT WE KNOW OF. So he'll nail this one. Or he should, anyway. ;) Jan de Bont (Speed) can't direct actors, and Joss can. The writers and director of "Fight the Future" had never made a movie before, and Joss has. In the words of Mr. Burns: Eeeexcellent. 2) Rating. This was close with #3, but I gave this one the edge. "It's a TV Show, Joss," the executives will say, "We know a lot about these things, and the smart play is to make it PG-13, because more people will come see it. Your key demographic...." If Joss is the man we know and love (and the man who had his soul rearranged when they killed AlienFour), he'll punch them in the face. This movie needs a cinematic, R-RATED MOMENT, in the first five (maybe ten) [i]MINUTES[/i]... and we've achieved the Legend I spoke of above. I was 11 when I saw "Transformers: The Movie," and that was supposed to be a cartoon... well, half those characters died GRAPHIC, VIOLENT deaths in the first SCENE. I was never the same again. I'm not saying Joss should kill anyone, but having Mal (better yet, Jayne) drop an F-Bomb on an authority figure would be pretty freakin' sweet. And you know it. 1) This carries us to the #1 thing that will make this movie Legend: the characters we haven't met yet. Martin Landau in X-Files? Taking up Space. Nicholson in Batman: BRILLIANT. Ricardo Montalban in Star Trek II: [b]LEGEND!!!![/b] It's not just that we should have stunt casting-- which ... we... should... NOT... but the trick is, you put a famous movie star in there, and then you have Fillion or Baldwin or Torres EAT HIS FACE. (Or, alternatively, HER FACE

Well, they say good luck comes in threes... I guess I can rest awhile now. Last night I converted the third of my of three closest friends to Firefly. He was putting on his Browncoat just about the point that Serenity was getting ready to "moon 'em". The slide guitar background music came up (my friend plays guitar) and combined with everything else up to that point, it was enough to put him over the edge.

Hmm feel like an idiot for not signing up sooner or even just trying to get SCI FI UK just so i could see the great firefly, i'm just glad i finally saw it, and well i was just blown out the window. Well, due to crummy support from what had previously been a great web hosting service and constant down time I have migrated to a new host and my website is down while I do a massive overhaul in content and look. So my head is stuck two feet deep in the sand at the moment. So - the latest ont he Firefly Fan Film is this - stand still. A script is done, the ugliest computer crash and virus infection i have ever suffered has made me upgrade to a new system (poor me) and I am now having to re-do ALL my 3d work, can we all say "learn to back up" with me. Stupid guy that i am. Anyway, so I'm playing catch up while prepping a feature film I am shooting at the end of the summer called "Asylum Alcatraz" you will be able to see the latest over at www.asylumalcatraz.fof-films.com in the next few days. I am hoping to entice some "talent" into the cast of this Mamet meets King meets Wood Jr. horror-thriller film. In negotiiations with some familiar TV faces (if you watch TV and certain shows - more to come at my site) And all the while my pet project of Firefly: Orpheus is stepping back and forth. So, after debating, decided that in order to get more converts I would spontaneously gift a friend who I thought would love firefly but most likely had not seen it before (in fact he'd not heard about, sad what a social life will do to your tv habits). After waiting anxiously for him to receive them and then watch enough to form an opinion (he's disciplined enough to ration himself to one a night!), I finally received the good news today: I quote: "Firefly is awesome. It's official." Of course, his next statement cracked me up since he so rarely makes typical guy statements: "Not sure who my favorite character is yet; at first I thought it was the hot chick...er, the hot chick that's with the red haired guy. Then it was the mechanic chick (I would've stopped watching the show if they had friggin killed her off in the pilot)." And of course, at the end he couldn't help but wonder as to why the show was ever cancelled! :biggrin:

Okay, so, I was standing around talking to one of my best friends in the whole 'verse, and I asked if he'd seen [i]Firefly[/i]. When he said "no," I was shocked and amazed - He and I have much the same taste in shows and the like, and I was SURE he must've seen the show while it was on the air. :blink: But, alas, although he and his wife had (miraculously!) seen one of the few promos on FOX, they'd missed its pitifully short run. :disappointed: So I brought Disc 1 of the DVD box set to band practice last night, and lent it to him. He was supposed to be writing a paper for class this morning, so I didn't expect to hear from him until this afternoon. (Now, understand, I have IM capability at work, so he CAN get in touch with me during the day...) I received a quick note from him at about 10am. He was only about 15 minutes into "Serenity," and had to pause the DVD to tell me how much he liked the show already, then said he'd contact me when it was over. Less than an hour later, he was messaging me again - he had to stop the DVD to laugh his tail off at Jayne's comment: "Saw that comin'..." (Before I was able to lend him the DVD, he'd already stopped by FFFn and taken Saint Jayne's Personality Test - he was Jayne by a large margin.) :biggrin: As you can well imagine, his paper didn't get truly worked on until he'd watched all the way through "Serenity", "The Train Job", AND "Bushwacked"... :tongue: When we last spoke today, he said he was going to spend some quality time with his lovely lady-wife. I imagine he's making a convert of his own at this very moment... :wink:

So how about I just found out that the last two girls in my area of curriculum are leaving after this year?! That's means more pressure and stress. :vomit: They weren't kidding when they rated my school as second in the country for most stressful. But dude, I'm so tired of just dreading the going to one particular class because it just feels like no matter how hard I try and bust my ass or how much time I put into it, I just suck at it. :crap: Man I freaking hate being in a class with Grad students. I feel like I don't belong and that's my major, not theirs. :blast: You would think it would help having people that are so far along, but apparently not for me. :disappointed: I just feel so terribly intimidated. :stupid: Fine. I admit I procratinate really bad for that class, but just the meer thought of how much all my time and effort is going to be for naught but a hell of a lot more work ahead, as well as thinking I got it, and learning I don't really hurts. :banghead: I should have gone into Drama. I miss that and just performing in general. But I need the degree. And I really do like my major, I just hate being broken down seemingly all the time... :hanged: Goddess, I need a trip to the beach!
