I will start this topic with a clarification on the meaning uv the word eVIDeNS.
Most peepl confuze it with 'proof' - sumthing that leadz directly to an undeniabl conclusion. Proof can be thot uv az a yes/no binary term. Sumthing either iz or iz not proof. There iz no degree to it.
Evidens can be anything - a 5th hand comment about a 3rd hand quote uv sumthing a drunk Skid Row bum mumbled in hiz sleep. Thats extreemly weak evidens, you woudnt bet much on it being true or even related to wutever you are considering, but its still evidens. It mite be true and related to your subject AND helpful.
Or evidens can be the literal smoking gun in the hand uv the perpetrator, identical to 'proof'. It can be anything between the 2 extreemz.
With this in mind, you can see that the statements 'there iz zero eveidens' and 'I see no evidens' rarely make sens.
Obviously, you haf to grade the value uv evidens, otherwize you coud waste a bunch uv time and effort prosessing garbaj. If sumwun iz oppozing you, they coud flood you with all sorts uv junk they just made up.
Now, if you want to derail the topic by trotting out a dictionary definition that duznt jibe with this, too bad - I'm claiming that eVIDeNS iz a new Nooalf word that, altho based on the old English 'evidence' iz more presise and useful. (even if I spell it in the casual slakrz nqalf way 'evidens')
If you arent clear on the consept uv meanz, motive & opportunity, look it up.
I'm going to try to list stuff in kronolojikl order. I will number each post so you dont haf to quote the entire thing for us to no wut yr commenting on.

1986: Soviet ambassador Yuri Dubinin sat next to The Donald during a New York lunch. Trump sed “One thing led to another, and now I’m talking about building a large luxury hotel across the street from the Kremlin in partnership with the Soviet government.” He bragz about it in The Art uv the Deal. He went to Moscow to discuss the hotel project with the Soviet tourism agency.
Speculation: The young playboy Trump had sum fun wile he wuz there and therez a good chans he got snagged by the KGB Kompromat operation. Its possible he coud hav been on the hook sins then.
Possibly even earlier, Trump or hiz dad may hav had sum involvement with the Russian mobz that sprung up in New York in the 70z & 80z. Organized criminalz are alwayz attracted to construction for sum reazon. I suppoze its eazy to set up bribez with burokrats and offer 'protection' for construction sites and material shipments. Wether theze mobz were connected with the Soviet gummit or not iz debatable.

noun: evidence
1.
the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.

I don't think anonymous gossip can be used to indicate whether anything at all is valid. I sure hope you don't either.

Really a continuation uv post #1.
In 96 Trump went to Moscow trying to arranje bilding a replica uv Trump Tower there. Didnt pan out so he wanted to renovate sum hotelz in Moscow. He wuz in the middle uv hiz big bankruptsy scam, so insted uv uzing hiz own money, he wuz tokking to oligarks. They often need to hide money that theyv stolen from Russia, so he had their interest.
He sold alot uv New York condo units to them. (Probably at wildly inflated prisez with a hidden kickback)
Maybe the biggest example uv this wuz in 2006. He got 95,000,000$ for a Florida estate that he'd bot for 41,000,000$. The buyer, Dmitry Rybolovlev,
a close Putin ally, never even bothered to go there. Rybo may hav bot it just to reduse hiz divors settlement!

A little adendum to the openning post:
Evidens uv any degreee uv quality can be disproven, THEN its no longer evidens.
You can see that the amount uv time you coud spend trying to verify the Skid Row bum exampl coud get rediculous, so really iznt worth pursuing unless you had absolutely nothing else and your case wuz very important.
An example on the other end uv the spectrum woud be a devise suppozedly from a UFO. To a layman it coud look extreemly hi tek, beyond the capabilityz uv human manufacture. A UFO fraudster coud make up a story about Alienz fixing their ship in the forest and leaving it behind. He coud hav weird symbolz lazer engraved on it. Very convinsing hold-it-in-your-hand PROOF!
But 10 minits uv Google Imaje serch woud turn up a common military surplus fuel pump.
Az good az the evidens seemed, it iz now debunked and no longer evidens uv alien vizitorz.

Trump haz been complimentary to Putin for yirz. During the primaryz and the main election he repeatedly disparaged Obama or Hillary in the same sentens az he praized Putin. Even wuns frum any previous prezidential candidate woud hav likely scuttled their chansez, but thanks to Fox and their GoP propaganda cohorts sowing hate agenst Demz for yirz, Trump gets away with virtually anything, including treazon, so duzenz uv anti-American pro-Russian statements did not turn away hiz voterz.
Herez a list:
http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2017/03/politics/trump-putin-russia-tim
eline/
Reading them all assembled, you can detect an vage element uv fear in Trump - that maybe he haz such a damming load uv blackmail hanging over him that he iz desperate to pleez Putin any way he can think uv.
At sum point in 2013 he seemz to be trying to hide previous association with Putin. He tweets sumthing like "coud be my new frend", the way a child woud try to fool hiz parents that he didnt no the bad kid before, so had nothing to do with the mischief. But we alredy no about the 2006 Florida estate deal, and there are sertainly going to be a barje load more kuming to lite.

Post #4. Hiz Associates & Cabinet
Paul Manafort, campane advizor.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Manafort
Apparently he haz made a career in selling out the US by advizing GoP prezidential campanez. Its alarming to me that our security iz so lax that he wuznt put out uv biz decadez ago.
So, out uv the thouzandz uv possible good clean Russian-connection-free bonafide conservative Republican campane manajerz he had to chooze from, sumhow, the guy who gets paid 10,000,000$ per yir to help Russian interests
iz Trumps pik.
Micheal Flynn, Security Advizor
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_T._Flynn
It kinda looks like he just went nuts at sum point. Or maybe he iz also a Kompromat victim and thats how he ended up sitting at the same table with Putin, giving a paid speech for RT, taking a Russian paid contract to aid Turkey'z newest dictator.
Agen, out uv all the thouzandz uv potential candidates for the pozition, why him?
Rex Tillerson, Secretary uv State.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rex_Tillerson
Trump didnt no this guy from Arthur Carlson last yir. So, did Rex launch a major campane to get the job? Did all the oil executivez get together at the Koch Brotherz house to draw strawz? According to Wiki, he wuz nominated by Condoleeza Rice.
If you think that its just a wild coinsidens that he happenz to be a Frend Uv Russia medal winner, bestowed by Putin himself, you WERE literally born yesterday AND fell off the turnip truck AND purchased the Brooklin brij frum a uzed refrijerator salezman in Gary Indiana. Tillersonz actionz sins taking offis coud not be any more clearly in servis uv Putin.
Eric Prince
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Prince
This splooj monkey haz sumthing to do with the Russian connection, but so far the only thing thats kum out iz a meeting with a Russian oligark in Saudi Arabia to set up a back channel communication with Putin. Therez going to be more about him, kuz hiz utterly unqualified sister got awarded with the Secretary uv Education pozition.
Thats just a start. There are at least a dozen more, sum that youv alredy herd uv and many hoo will likely remain minor footnotes, but seriously, how many do you need befor you realize that TRUMP HAZ SUM CONNECTION TO RUSSIA?
My opinion iz that Putin and hiz team picked virtually everybody. If there iz anybody that Trump picked for himself, he had to get approval from Putin first.

Risking bringing T in this conversation to call me a Commie or another Putin puppet, I don't see what's so wrong about having "some connection to Russia", in and of itself. The way things have been going in the EU, I actually feel more comfortable with that connection than with.... say... Merkel.
There could be something to what you say. By all means, investigate the man. We waste tons of tax payer dollars on much less important things everyday from handouts to war. It is important to be able to trust our president, or at least trust that he's not "in bed" with the Russians. I'm for spending that money investigating it even if it turns up nothing.
The problem J0, is when you take some legitimate concerns and blow them completely out of proportion and accuse Trump of treason and/or being a slave to Putin.
I expect that from Rachel Maddow. She's making 7 million dollars a year speaking to her echo chamber that was yelling "Fuck Trump", "Not my president" and "No way, KKK" from day one.
I expect more from you though.
It is possible to get your point across without peppering in obvious bias and unsubstantiated claims. When you do that, although you might get pats on the back by the echo chamber, you basically shut the conversation down when it comes to moderates or anybody on the other side.

Good lord, JO.
I agree with SIX.... I would prefer that there be "contacts" with Russia. BTW- there always have been, even with Obama. Even with Hillary. Even with Reagan.
It depends on what those contacts are for. Are they for normal discussion? To do business? To develop a common policy on terrorism? To reduce the risk of war? I'm all for it.
Unless these "contacts" are for something nefarious, something which does not serve our interests, then we benefit.
Which reminds me: JO - WHAT ARE OUR INTERESTS AND HOW DOES RUSSIA THREATEN THEM? You have a candidacy so you should have an answer by now. If you don't then you have a real weak spot in your platform.

Post #5. The Coverups & Liez
I coudnt find a complete list uv all the liez Turmp and hiz peepl hav told about the Putin connectionz and collusion, but here'z a Washington post article about it.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/wp/2017/05/22/collusio
n-will-not-determine-trumps-fate/?utm_term=.31d085b396de
Trump fired Sally Yates within a few dayz uv her warning him that Flynn iz comprimized & coud be blackmailed. He didnt ask Flynn to rezine for another 18 dayz, and then only kuz uv breaking newz making it impossible for him to stay.
He asked Comey and at least 2 other intel dept hedz to publicly deny he wuz being investigated for colluding with the Russianz.
He fired Comey and sent hiz peeps out to push a lie that it wuz due to Comey mishandling the Hillary email investigation. He had The AG & deputy AG create a memo to back this lie up.
Then he tossez the whole lot into the trash, including hiz lackeyz, and admits he fired Comey to stop the investigation.
He fired Preet Barara to stop investigationz into Russian money laundering and other financial crimez that certainly involve Trump and hiz associates.
You don't lie about sumthing if you werent aware uv it or that it wuz illegal. You dont fire peepl who are investigating you if you are innosent.
Pence iz neck deep in this. Who knowz about Ryan? Hiz statement about the 'Putin payz Rorhabacher and Trump' iz suspicious. So who'z next in line after him? The Attorney General Jeff Sessionz? Too bad he'z alredy known to be deeply involved.

You do if you're a troll. I already stated my theory about why he did this in another thread.
If he's guilty, it will come out. Doing that certainly does make him look guilty and even I would be pissed off if there was no investigation now. That's why I don't believe he is guilty.
One of three things happens now.
1. Trump proves to us and the world that he has absolute control and is above any investigations. (Extremely unlikely, and I'd like to think that there would be a revolt by the people).
2. Trump is proven guilty. (Unlikely. I don't believe this move would have been made if he was guilty because even his supporters have to at least raise an eyebrow at this move).
3. Trump is going to embarrass Democrat and GOP politicians that have been calling for his head, and likely ruin the careers of quite a few MSM talking heads. (That's where my money would be if gambling were one of my vices).

Everyone should expect this investigation will take at least as long before Trump or Pence commutes all the prison sentences or gives a blanket pardon to everybody involved, just like Bush commuted Scooter's 30 month sentence. That will make the entire exercise of gathering evidence a waste of time.

Jo, I'm going to tell you a story which I hope you'll take the time to read. It's a real-life story (mine) with strange parallels to today.
A long time ago, on a website far away ...
This was a website dedicated mostly to neurological disorders, and there was a forum for parents of neuroatypical children. Many of the participants were midwestern stay-at-home moms; but wherever we were from this was where we came to share information and heartache. 9-11 affected everyone; discussion about it derailed most forums, so the webmaster decided to corral the discussions by creating a real-world events discussion forum, much like Haken did here.
9-11, in my view, was no big surprise. It didn't take a genius to draw a straight line between the Kenyan embassy bombing or the attack on the Cole and the USA. There was nothing between us and "them" except a big empty ocean, and any dedicated terrorist would find their way across sooner or later. It was just a matter of time, and I spent the roughly three years after the Embassy bombing waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hubby and I would think about how one could do the most damage with the least effort; and in the end, when 9-11 happened, I was actually somewhat relieved that "the worst" didn't happen because it could have been so much worse. I won't say how, but we could have been talking millions of dead, not thousands.
In some ways, I didn't understand most people's terror and surprise. I was telling people to get over their shock and terror because we needed to DEAL with the foreign policy that caused this, and deal with the threat of terrorism at home. Needless to say, people hated me, and I was accused of being .... wait for it ... a terrorist sympathizer.
Then, when GWB started cranking up the war propaganda machine to bomb Afghanistan back into the stone age, I was heartsick. There he was, making innocent people suffer by bombing them for a cause that they didn't even choose. I could imagine Afghanistan being torn apart- again - and us being involved in an endless guerrilla war, another Vietnam, just in a different place. So I started making predictions ... we're planning to invade. We're going to start by bombing, followed by our tanks and troops. Each prediction was followed by a chorus of "No we aren't" which was followed by the event.
As you may recall, at that point, there had been SOME evidence that Osama bin Laden had been experimenting with chemical weapons. I thought that Osama's plan was ... well, if the mountain won't come to Mohammed, Mohammed must go to the mountain. I thought that Osama had lured those distant faraway American troops into a trap, that in some cold mountain pass, where troops would be all bunched up, hell would be unleashed on them.
So I predicted something like "Right about now I'd be worried about chemical or biological weapons".
Well, as luck would have it, the anthrax letters were mailed about a week or so later. OMG, did some on the board go into a tizzy! Since they were already convinced that I was at least a terrorist sympathizer, and they knew I knew something about science ... well, hell, I might have been a terrorist myself! Maybe even someone who sent those anthrax letters! So they urged the webmaster to give my particulars to the FBI, and few weeks after that, when the FBI was swarming around the middleastern community in Orange County, they detailed a few of their (probably junior staff) to follow me.
Now, I was completely innocent of anything, and all I had been saying was.... this isn't going to work, we have to stop invading so many nations and making so many enemies; we need to be an awful lot smarter about our foreign policy and

. . . what did you think about our invasion of Afghanistan? Of Iraq? How did you feel about our destruction of Libya?
If at any point in our rampage through the Middle East, did you start out agreeing and then possibly change your mind? And if you did, why did you start out with one idea and wind up with another? If you've learned anything from experience and history, what did you learn?
As part of the "bleed-until-bankruptcy plan," bin Laden cited a British estimate that it cost al Qaeda about $500,000 to carry out the attacks of September 11, 2001, an amount that he said paled in comparison with the costs incurred by the United States.
"Every dollar of al Qaeda defeated a million dollars, by the permission of Allah, besides the loss of a huge number of jobs," he said. "As for the economic deficit, it has reached record astronomical numbers estimated to total more than a trillion dollars."
http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/11/01/binladen.tape/index.html
First the USA wastes a trillion, then follows that with another two trillion, then when that doesn't work, another four trillion, and so on and on.
Since 9/11 there has been turnover in the leadership of Congress and the Pentagon, but it is not gotten any wiser and their goal still seems to be to spend more and more money on the military and never form a coherent strategy about anywhere in the world. I think bin Laden understood the USA's leadership and its mental handicaps. The leadership and the citizenship aren't all that far apart in their stubborn incomprehension of the world. If only they actually knew even half of what they image and claim to know, their lives would be going so much smoother than their lives really are.
"And it all shows that the real loser is you," Osama bin Laden said. "It is the American people and their economy."

I'm still not sure that Osama Bin Laden wasn't just an invention of Dick Cheney. He sure made Halliburton boatloads of cash. Not only did we never see Osama's body, but we never saw Osama and Scottie Pippen in the same room together:

Its about the purpose uv sivilization. If it duznt make life better for the individual to be a member, it iz worthless.
Also, I disagree to some extent on the focus towards the individual. I posted many thoughts on the relationship between the individual and society. Society has it's own requirements for survival, which at times requires individuals to cooperate and be productive. If you want the society to survive, you have to contribute something towards its maintenance and defense.
Quote:You keep referring to "civilization" but what I think you really mean is "comfortable lifestyle based on technology". There are reasons to think the goal of a comfortable, work-free lifestyle isn't GOOD for people, just as extreme individualism leads to social isolation and isn't good for people either. So if civilization is geared towards giving people what they want (or have been convinced they should want)- fun, freedom, a lot of toys, and no work - it may not be providing people with what they NEED - agency in their own lives, social connection, a feeling of higher purpose.
A country'z goverment'z purpose iz to increase the level uv sivilization az hi az possible for az many uv it sitizenz az possible.

The conservative mind has become diseased
By Michael Gerson Opinion writer
May 25 at 7:32 PM ?
To many observers on the left, the initial embrace of Seth Rich conspiracy theories by conservative media figures was merely a confirmation of the right’s deformed soul. But for those of us who remember that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity were once relatively mainstream Reaganites, their extended vacation in the fever swamps is even more disturbing. If once you knew better, the indictment is deeper.
The cruel exploitation of the memory of Rich, a Democratic National Committee staffer who was shot dead last summer, was horrifying and clarifying. The Hannity right, without evidence, accused Rich rather than the Russians of leaking damaging DNC emails. In doing so, it has proved its willingness to credit anything — no matter how obviously deceptive or toxic — to defend President Trump and harm his opponents. Even if it means becoming a megaphone for Russian influence.
The basic, human questions are simple. How could conservative media figures not have felt — felt in their hearts and bones — the God-awful ickiness of it? How did the genes of generosity and simple humanity get turned off? Is this insensibility the risk of prolonged exposure to our radioactive political culture? If so, all of us should stand back a moment and tend to the health of our revulsion
But this failure of decency is also politically symbolic. Who is the politician who legitimized conspiracy thinking at the highest level? Who raised the possibility that Ted Cruz’s father might have been involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy? Who hinted that Hillary Clinton might have been involved in the death of Vince Foster, or that unnamed liberals might have killed Justice Antonin Scalia? Who not only questioned President Barack Obama’s birth certificate, but raised the prospect of the murder of a Hawaiian state official in a coverup? “How amazing,” Trump tweeted in 2013, “the State Health Director who verified copies of Obama’s ‘birth certificate’ died in plane crash today. All others lived.”
We have a president charged with maintaining public health who asserts that the vaccination schedule is a dangerous scam of greedy doctors. We have a president charged with representing all Americans who has falsely accused thousands of Muslims of celebrating in the streets following the 9/11 attacks.
In this mental environment, alleging a Rich-related conspiracy was predictable. This is a concrete example of the mainstreaming of destructive craziness.
Those conservatives who believe that the confirmation of Justice Neil M. Gorsuch is sufficient justification for the Trump presidency are ignoring Trump’s psychic and moral destruction of the conservative movement and the Republican Party. Clinton, with a small number of changed votes, would have defeated Republicans. But Trump is doing a kind of harm beyond anything Clinton could have done. He is changing the party’s most basic moral and political orientations. He is shaping conservatism in his image and ensuring an eventual defeat more complete, and an eventual exile more prolonged, than Democrats could have dreamed.
The conservative mind, in some very visible cases, has become diseased. The movement has been seized by a kind of discrediting madness, in which conspiracy delusions figure prominently. Institutions and individuals that once served an important ideological role, providing a balance to media bias, are discrediting themselves in crucial ways. With the blessings of a president, they have abandoned the normal constraints of reason and compassion. They have allowed political polarization to reach their hearts, and harden them. They have allowed polarization to dominate their minds, and empty them.
Conspiracy theories often involve a kind of dehumanization. Human tragedy is made secondary — something to be exploited rather than mourned. The narrative of conspiracy takes precedence over the meaning of a life and the suffering of a family. A human being is made into an

In the process of setting electoral districts, gerrymandering is a practice intended to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries. The resulting district is known as a gerrymander; however, that word can also refer to the process. The term gerrymandering has negative connotations. Two principal tactics are used in gerrymandering: "cracking" (i.e. diluting the voting power of the opposing party's supporters across many districts) and "packing" (concentrating the opposing party's voting power in one district to reduce their voting power in other districts).
When this is done successfully, the hardliners, religious zealots, people who are fanatical and uncompromising in pursuit of their religious, political, or other ideals have all the influence. This is because those who believe otherwise are no longer within these voting districts. They have been carved out of the district. It leaves those holding office hostage to their wishes. To pursue a different course of action against their wishes is political suicide.
The fact that you don't understand this in of no surprise to me Jack. It will be the doom of the Republican party. They only remain afloat because of the anger permeating throughout the countryside. Remember, there were 16 of the top Republican leaders running for president. All were rejected before they got started.

It's not that I didn't understand it. I didn't read it. My point was that the only people who would read an article with that title are people who will already agree 100% to everything inside of it.
So the question is, what's the point of writing it?
The answer is self-gratification and patting of his back by those who join in the circle jerk.

GOOD HEAVENS! OF COURSE he's not interested in helping America! Why would he be? He's (presumably) interested in furthering Russia's interests: That's his job; that's what he's supposed to be doing!
Not only is he NOT interested in helping America, Russia's (or his) interests can conflict with ours.
But you'll notice I said OUR interests. America's interests. Not our interests for Syria, or Iraq, or Russia, or Cuba or Malawi. Not abstract concepts like "democracy", or "freedom" or "human rights" elsewhere. Not some vague desire to "win".
OUR interests.
That's why its so important to figure out what OUR interests are: So we can defend them and not get distracted into spending money and lives doing things that are (at best) for some other nation's benefit and (at worst) counterproductive to our own.

John Boehner Says Trump’s Presidency Has Been Mostly A ‘Disaster’
Former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) isn’t impressed with President Donald Trump.
Speaking at an energy conference in Houston on Wednesday, Boehner did praise Trump on foreign affairs and said he had stepped up the fight against the Islamic State militant group. But he generally gave a grim assessment of the president’s first few months in office, according to energy publication Rigzone.
“Everything else he’s done [in office] has been a complete disaster,” Boehner said.

It's called Virtue Signalling. T is very good at it. Most of the SJW crowd is. If you saw any of the crap he was posting the last few days to me, that's exactly what he was doing.
It stems from the Democratic platform of wrapping their campaigning with virtuous slogans like "Hope" and "Change" when that doesn't actually mean anything.
So if you were against Obama, you were against Hope. I think most of us agree that after 8 years of Bush it was definitely time for a change, but if you were against Obama you were also against Change.
So that's what the article was about, huh Sigs.
I think Mr Gerson deserves an award.

Okay, JO, I have time to get back to this:
Quote:I've been paying attention to politics since Vietnam.
I admit I wuz fooled by Bush. I didnt pay much attention to politics back then, but even tho I knew he wuz a dimwit, I wuz behind him about going into Afganistan.
About Iraq, not so much, but figured it woud be over in a few weeks, just like Dezert Storm. And I still think its not a bad thing to topple evil dictatorz. Its the follow up that we alwayz get rong!
The BIG lesson that I expected everybody to lern from the Bush yirz iz that we cant hav an idiot in the Oval Offis.
Even if he wuznt an actual clinical idiot, he wuz not smart enuf for the job, wich iz effectively the same az being an idiot.
One thing which has happened over and over is that politicians lie about war. I don't mean that politicians evade or shade facts, I mean that they tell big, fat, juicy, deliberate whoppers. The "attack" in the Gulf on Tonkin that justified Johnsons's escalation of Vietnam ... never happened. Noriega (Panama) wasn't a major drug runner. While Carter was desperately trying to rescue the hostages in Iran, Reagan was making arms deals with the ayatollahs. (If you want to talk about REAL collusion with the enemy during an election, there's an example!) Afghanistan had nothing to do with 9-11. Iraq slant-drilling into Kuwait wasn't the reason for the Gulf War I. 9-11 wasn't the reason for invading Afghanistan, WMD wasn't the reason for Gulf War II, and Gadaffi wasn't "massacring his own people".
It didn't matter that Johnson was a smart man, he made the "mistake" of escalating Vietnam. It didn't matter that Reagan was an intellectual midget, or that Bush I was smart, or that Bush II was drug-burned. Obama was smarter than Bush II, but he made the same "mistakes" in Libya and Syria that Bush made in Iraq and Afghanistan. The problem isn't lack of IQ, JO.
We'll only know what the REAL problem is if we know the REAL reasons for war. Whatever the reason is, it's not stupidity. Don't ever think that the people who are running the show are stupid.
Quote:Trump is not the problem. Who is behind ours wars, JO?
Obviously that lesson haz not been lerned by enuf uv us. Trump iz an outrite idiot, straddling the border uv insanity. The perfect puppet for an evil genius.
Quote:I think I answered the second part (OF COURSE he isn't interested in helping us!). As far as Putin's "crimes" I only know of one: the taking of Crimea. But still, the people there seem pretty happy about it. Other than that, what?
A segjestion for you: If you dont want us to think you are a Putin operativ, at least admit hiz crimez and that he iz not interested in helping America. -JO

Well, since THUGR just excluded himself from reasonable conversation ... wait, what am I saying? He did that a long time ago!
I guess this is for YOU, JO:
To give you an idea of what I mean, the man who talked about people being lured into treason unknowingly ... Brennan .... was the same guy who HIMSELF committed treason by accessing the Senate Intelligence Committee computers - the CIA acting as a spy agency within the borders of the USA (itself against the law) not to investigate a crime (which would belong with the FBI) but to interfere with our political process on CIA oversight. And lied about it.
Was the same guy who lied about the CIA not having a torture program.
“As far as the allegations of the CIA hacking into Senate computers, nothing could be further from the truth… We wouldn’t do that. I mean, that’s just beyond the, you know, the scope of reason in terms of what we do.”

Though I don't necessarily agree that "thinking people" watched O'Reilly regularly anymore than I believe that "thinking people" watch Rachel Maddow, I see what your point is.
Let me know if you ever find something worth watching on either side, because I don't see anything.
There is actually quite a bit more than 100 shows weekly that people watch on average than any of the news outlets. The recent numbers for MSNBC finally becoming the top network for one week were just barely half of what Firefly was getting on a weekly basis, and that was a failed show at 98th place in the Neilson rankings.
There's still a gap of well over 2 million viewers between Firefly and the top performing news outlet, which would mean that there were quite a bit more than 100 shows that were watched by more people any given week than the news.
The fact that most of that is drive-by fluff just solidifies my point. Most people aren't "thinking people" or at least they tune out of politics in general.
Just something for everybody to keep in mind. Most people you know aren't paying any attention at all.

I don't think anonymous gossip can be used to indicate whether anything at all is valid. I sure hope you don't either.

But I'm curious what people think that Trump has actually DONE. It looks like some of his surrogates tried to open up lines of communication with Putin. I can see how that would be helpful to avoid all out war with Russia. For example: "Vlad, I'm pretty sure they didn't do it but everyone here's howling about how Syria supposedly chemically attacked a small, non-strategic village. I have to do SOMEthing to get people off my back, politically speaking. How about I bomb a Syrian airfield? Can we not escalate from that?" Talking to the Russians, especially Putin, could be a real world-saver. And hell, even Reagan privately talked with Gorbachev. (And from thence came the START missile treaty. http://www.nytimes.com/1987/12/09/politics/09REAG.html?pagewanted=all&
amp;mcubz=1 https://www.armscontrol.org/act/2004_07-08/Reagan)
It's not treason for Trump to talk with Putin. Or even illegal.
So - what has Trump DONE that people are so upset about?

If you arent going to watch any real newz even wen we link to it here, its going to take a lot uv typing to spell it all out for you.
Sig & 6 both posted the same uninformed comment, so I'll ansr:
1.There are alredy established communication channelz.
2. Kushner & Flynn were trying to set up a secret communication channel uzing the Kremlin'z secure system. The only reazon to do that woud be to hide it from our intel ajensyz. The only reazon to do that iz kuz they hav private dealz going on with the Russianz.
3. Jared didnt also try to establish secret communication channelz with any other country.
4. This iz so wakky that even Kislyak wuz suprized.
Sins Flynn wuz in on the meeting in Trump Tower, it cant be dismissed az merely Jared being naive and stoopid. That only leavez DESPERATE, further evidensed by the date - early Desember.
It only gets worse the more you know. There iz no innosent 'O! Thats why!' fact in this little story.

Jo - IT'S NOT TREASONOUS, OR EVEN ILLEGAL, FOR TRUMP TO TALK WITH PUTIN, OR TRY TO TALK WITH PUTIN.
I keep waiting for the big reveal - what did Trump DO that was so bad?
But not only have you failed to provide any evidence, you can't even point to a genuine issue.

I repeat my previous reaction: The headlines may as well have said
TRUMP BEGINS TO IMPLEMENT PLATFORM PLANK
There was nothing "secret" about his desire to find areas of overlapping concern (i.e. ISIS) and to work with Russia on dealing with them.
Here's an example: We have a common problem with ISIS (supported by Qatar) and al Qaida, which is funded, armed, and supplied by Saudi Arabia. Despite our increased internal oil production, we still depend on imports for about 38% of our oil, and Saudi Arabia is our second-largest supplier, and pillar of the petrodollar system. Because any interruption in oil supply and dollar flow would be a crippling blow, Saudi Arabia has our Mideast policies by the short hairs.
So, what if we could develop a competing supplier of oil? You know, someone like ... Russia? There is little love lost between Saudi Arabia and Russia, and if we could get the two nations to compete against each other that would put us in a stronger position. I don't see the downside to THAT, do you?

Risking T and G adding me to the list of Communists in here, that seems reasonable to me Signy.
To J0....
I won't bother even asking for links to anything you say in here because nobody ever actually has any proof of any of these allegations. The best they could do for months now themselves is cite "anonymous sources" or "one official said".
There is no accountability for the Press anymore. It's all about ratings. And it's working! MSNBC was top dog for the first time in history. Trump becoming president was the best thing that ever happened to MSNBC.
Anything Team Trump has been accused of doing is provable because you can't hide your tracks on the internet. It's one of the main reasons I wouldn't even look in to purchasing a VPN. They advertise them as secure and anonymous, but there is no such thing online. If the government wants to know what you're up to, they know what you're up to.
My belief is that people who are stupid and/or paranoid enough to actually pay a monthly fee for a VPN are only putting themselves on a Government watch list that they wouldn't have been on had they not linked their credit card to it. A kind of Orwellian "if you're not doing anything wrong, than what are you trying to hide" mindset.
I've said on these boards at least three times that I want to see Trump impeached so we can get to the bottom of this. I'm a big boy and can admit when I'm wrong. I don't think I am, but I'm sure as shit getting sick of having this same conversation every single day.

It's not my job to look at evidence. I'm not prosecuting or defending the case. I'm just getting tired of hearing the same old nothing each and every day for going on half a year now.
Impeach him. Prove his innocence or guilt. Move on as a country.
Don't expect me to play the MSM game for the next 4 to 8 years though.
And don't be surprised when everybody loses interest either.

Awww, are we inconveniencing you Jack? It sucks that this isn't instant isn't it? Someone flip a coin already!
What more do you want from me? I've already said that I can admit it if I'm wrong and I'm perfectly fine with an impeachment. Ball is in your court libs. Stop whining and get to work.

Can you answer that?

JO, I'm with KIKI on this.
There's a reason why there are different words ... like "hearsay", "allegation", and "evidence", and that's because they really are different things.
Second-hand, third-hand statements (or statements even further removed from the source) don't count as "evidence". In a courtroom, they would be called "hearsay" and not even brought up.
Evidence includes sworn testimony to eyewitness events (i.e. "I saw it myself"), permanent or unaltered records (telephone records, travel receipts, audio recordings etc.) or physical items.
You speculating on "what people said" in the media, who are themselves speculating on what someone else in the media said, who themselves may be referring to what someone else wrote, which may or may not be an accurate representation of what an anonymous source said, which might or might not be a lie ... well, it's the equivalent of a bum in the alley with a hot stock tip. It might even be true! But unless it could be verified in some way it would NEVER be called evidence.
I agree that one can can glean meaningful information from the media, but at this point I wouldn't call it "evidence". (If you want to know what I WOULD call "evidence", see above: sworn testimony etc) The information that I get from "the media" is that they are conducting a smear campaign and hellbent on bringing Trump down, in collusion with some in the security state. And there are a lot of gullible people around who can be fooled by a relentless media campaign, such as preceded the destruction of Iraq, because they ASSUME that the media is interested in telling them "the truth", instead of some sort of useful narrative. (At this point, you should be asking - "useful to whom?")
