I vote for #3, except the embarrassing part will be how slow the investigation proceeds and how quickly will follow the pardon of prison sentences. It took twenty-two months for an investigation by a special council before Scooter Libby, who worked in the White House from 2001 to 2005, was indicted. Everyone should expect this investigation will take at least as long before Trump or Pence commutes all the prison sentences or gives a blanket pardon to everybody involved, just like Bush commuted Scooter's 30 month sentence. That will make the entire exercise of gathering evidence a waste of time.

I'll keep this thread bookmarked.

I'll remember you said that when nothing comes of any of this.

Hell J0. Even Second is making a lot more sense than you are in your own thread.

And BTW... why would you think of all of the posts that I've written over the years here that THIS is the ONE that I would edit or delete?

Nope... I don't do that.

I might make a few edits here and there about 5 minutes after I post something, but everything I ever posted is still up here for T to dig up.

In other words, it's a subtle threat.

Jo, I'm going to tell you a story which I hope you'll take the time to read. It's a real-life story (mine) with strange parallels to today.

A long time ago, on a website far away ...

This was a website dedicated mostly to neurological disorders, and there was a forum for parents of neuroatypical children. Many of the participants were midwestern stay-at-home moms; but wherever we were from this was where we came to share information and heartache. 9-11 affected everyone; discussion about it derailed most forums, so the webmaster decided to corral the discussions by creating a real-world events discussion forum, much like Haken did here.

9-11, in my view, was no big surprise. It didn't take a genius to draw a straight line between the Kenyan embassy bombing or the attack on the Cole and the USA. There was nothing between us and "them" except a big empty ocean, and any dedicated terrorist would find their way across sooner or later. It was just a matter of time, and I spent the roughly three years after the Embassy bombing waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hubby and I would think about how one could do the most damage with the least effort; and in the end, when 9-11 happened, I was actually somewhat relieved that "the worst" didn't happen because it could have been so much worse. I won't say how, but we could have been talking millions of dead, not thousands.

In some ways, I didn't understand most people's terror and surprise. I was telling people to get over their shock and terror because we needed to DEAL with the foreign policy that caused this, and deal with the threat of terrorism at home. Needless to say, people hated me, and I was accused of being .... wait for it ... a terrorist sympathizer.

Then, when GWB started cranking up the war propaganda machine to bomb Afghanistan back into the stone age, I was heartsick. There he was, making innocent people suffer by bombing them for a cause that they didn't even choose. I could imagine Afghanistan being torn apart- again - and us being involved in an endless guerrilla war, another Vietnam, just in a different place. So I started making predictions ... we're planning to invade. We're going to start by bombing, followed by our tanks and troops. Each prediction was followed by a chorus of "No we aren't" which was followed by the event.

As you may recall, at that point, there had been SOME evidence that Osama bin Laden had been experimenting with chemical weapons. I thought that Osama's plan was ... well, if the mountain won't come to Mohammed, Mohammed must go to the mountain. I thought that Osama had lured those distant faraway American troops into a trap, that in some cold mountain pass, where troops would be all bunched up, hell would be unleashed on them.

So I predicted something like "Right about now I'd be worried about chemical or biological weapons".

Well, as luck would have it, the anthrax letters were mailed about a week or so later. OMG, did some on the board go into a tizzy! Since they were already convinced that I was at least a terrorist sympathizer, and they knew I knew something about science ... well, hell, I might have been a terrorist myself! Maybe even someone who sent those anthrax letters! So they urged the webmaster to give my particulars to the FBI, and few weeks after that, when the FBI was swarming around the middleastern community in Orange County, they detailed a few of their (probably junior staff) to follow me.

Now, I was completely innocent of anything, and all I had been saying was.... this isn't going to work, we have to stop invading so many nations and making so many enemies; we need to be an awful lot smarter about our foreign policy and

. . . what did you think about our invasion of Afghanistan? Of Iraq? How did you feel about our destruction of Libya?

If at any point in our rampage through the Middle East, did you start out agreeing and then possibly change your mind? And if you did, why did you start out with one idea and wind up with another? If you've learned anything from experience and history, what did you learn?

I learned that Osama bin Laden understood the Pentagon and Congress more accurately than the average US citizen does: "All that we have to do is to send two mujahedeen to the furthest point east to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al Qaeda, in order to make generals race there to cause America to suffer human, economic and political losses without their achieving anything of note other than some benefits for their private corporations," bin Laden said.

As part of the "bleed-until-bankruptcy plan," bin Laden cited a British estimate that it cost al Qaeda about $500,000 to carry out the attacks of September 11, 2001, an amount that he said paled in comparison with the costs incurred by the United States.

"Every dollar of al Qaeda defeated a million dollars, by the permission of Allah, besides the loss of a huge number of jobs," he said. "As for the economic deficit, it has reached record astronomical numbers estimated to total more than a trillion dollars."

http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/11/01/binladen.tape/index.html

First the USA wastes a trillion, then follows that with another two trillion, then when that doesn't work, another four trillion, and so on and on.

Since 9/11 there has been turnover in the leadership of Congress and the Pentagon, but it is not gotten any wiser and their goal still seems to be to spend more and more money on the military and never form a coherent strategy about anywhere in the world. I think bin Laden understood the USA's leadership and its mental handicaps. The leadership and the citizenship aren't all that far apart in their stubborn incomprehension of the world. If only they actually knew even half of what they image and claim to know, their lives would be going so much smoother than their lives really are.

"And it all shows that the real loser is you," Osama bin Laden said. "It is the American people and their economy."

We can probably agree on this observation: Osama bin Laden said "And it all shows that the real loser is you. It is the American people and their economy."

As for President Bush's Iraq policy, Bin Laden said, "the darkness of black gold blurred his vision and insight, and he gave priority to private interests over the public interests of America." I approve of the notion that Americans have a blurred vision of the world and lack insight into their own motivations.

I'm still not sure that Osama Bin Laden wasn't just an invention of Dick Cheney. He sure made Halliburton boatloads of cash. Not only did we never see Osama's body, but we never saw Osama and Scottie Pippen in the same room together:

I bet if you look real hard, you can find a picture in these threads that I made about 10 years ago remarking on that resemblance. Seems I'm not the only person who thought that.

GSTRING, Oh Wise One, I have a question for YOU that I doubt that you'll answer: You're unhappy with our politicians. Clearly, you must have a better plan in mind! So, what should our politicians DO, vis-a-vis Russia? Bomb Russia in Syria? Just go straight to bombing Russia itself?

JO -Thank you for your answer. Mostly, I agree, But now, a few caveats.

Quote:

Its about the purpose uv sivilization. If it duznt make life better for the individual to be a member, it iz worthless.
Better than what? A solitary life, scratching out a miserable existence in the wilds of the jungle, or downtown Detroit? That's a pretty low bar, almost ANY society can do that.

Also, I disagree to some extent on the focus towards the individual. I posted many thoughts on the relationship between the individual and society. Society has it's own requirements for survival, which at times requires individuals to cooperate and be productive. If you want the society to survive, you have to contribute something towards its maintenance and defense.

Quote:

A country'z goverment'z purpose iz to increase the level uv sivilization az hi az possible for az many uv it sitizenz az possible.
You keep referring to "civilization" but what I think you really mean is "comfortable lifestyle based on technology". There are reasons to think the goal of a comfortable, work-free lifestyle isn't GOOD for people, just as extreme individualism leads to social isolation and isn't good for people either. So if civilization is geared towards giving people what they want (or have been convinced they should want)- fun, freedom, a lot of toys, and no work - it may not be providing people with what they NEED - agency in their own lives, social connection, a feeling of higher purpose.

Quote:

If youv read my campane website, maybe the total meaning can be unclear, but thats wut its about - making America the best example uv sivilization in the world.
Ok

I believ the basic system created by the founderz iz good, but needz sum serious work to fix orijinal flawz and to update it for todayz conditionz.
Lern from our mistakes. Lern from otherz mistakes. Lern from history.

The FF created a political system. But its the economic system that needs work. Political equality can't exist without economic equality.

I think we agree on many things.

So how does "being a good example" relate to our swath of destruction thru the MENA and our relations with Russia, China, and the remainder of the world?

Jo, I'm still waiting for evidence.

What you posted so far is

"speculation" Monday, May 22, 2017 10:26 PM

trolling "Yep. Look who showz up. Muller shoud take note." Tuesday, May 23, 2017 2:21 PM

MORE speculation "(Probably at wildly inflated prisez with a hidden kickback)" Tuesday, May 23, 2017 2:45 PM

and ANOTHER heaping helping of speculation "maybe he haz such a damming load uv blackmail hanging over" which includes a link to an article about "suspicion" Tuesday, May 23, 2017 10:43 PM

a multiple 'fail' post that contains
1) a claim attached to a figure you pulled out of your ass, not supported by your wiki link "guy who gets paid 10,000,000$"
2) red-baiting (a tactic of Joe McCarthy) Flynn
3) connecting the Koch brothers and Condoleezza Rice to Russia through Tillerson!
4) and claiming Prince has "something" to do with Russia ... Wednesday, May 24, 2017 3:14 AM

MORE trolling "you acting like a paid social media operativ"; really weird commentary "severe flaw in the Constitution iz the extreemly weak loyalty requirements"; and outright fabrications "Trump iz working for Putin" Wednesday, May 24, 2017 2:33 PM

strange comments that you don't seem to apply uniformly (like to Saudi Arabia) "Appeazing dictatorz duznt work." Wednesday, May 24, 2017 2:51 PM

and dictats you don't take seriously enough to follow yourself "Lern from our mistakes" Wednesday, May 24, 2017 3:14 PM

a link which supports none of your post and which says this "The people who described the contacts to Reuters said they had seen no evidence of wrongdoing or collusion between the campaign and Russia in the communications reviewed so far" Wednesday, May 24, 2017 10:20 PM

more unsubstantiated claims Wednesday, May 24, 2017 10:39 PM

AND ... more trolling "undeniabl proof that you are an idiot (most likely) or being paid to post" Thursday, May 25, 2017 12:19 AM

I went though your posts because you claimed this was going to be about evidence. And I haven't seen any. Trolling? Claims? Speculation? Innuendo? You got that well covered.

But where's the evidence?
