Not that I'm complaining. It's all a very interesting tale you're telling here. But do actually intend to finish it in the forseeable future? If you're not careful, it could reach the point where it becomes tedious. Please keep in mind that I do like the story. But individual stories do have to end eventually.

Guildsister - yet again, you deliver an outstanding chapter! Already looking forward to the next installment. So what does it take to get published?

Han Solo put it best in the original Star Wars..."Didn't we just leave this party?" My god guildsister, where are you going to take the crew now? Please keep it coming.

Oh yea....just ignore Sitting Duck. He's being a little mu gao. Keep this going as long as you think you can keep it intriguing.

Beyond shiny!
And yes, ignore Sitting Duck. Before this, I've never been so caught up in a fanfic that I've been willing to read and read for dozens of chapters. Keep writing it like this and I'll be just as sorry at the end as I was about the series cancellation. I just wish I could help you write faster!

Oh WOW! And here I was thinking they were going to get away clean for that!
I really love how you are writing Jayne the philosopher, add another shiny characterization to your already stunning collection. And your Mal and Zoe just keep getting better.

Ignore me at your own risk. I've seen too many fanfics that started out good wind up meandering pointlessly because the writer couldn't figure out how to end it. So far, you haven't reached that point, but the danger is there.

Oh, Sitting Duck, you wacky fowl...
The ending scene was the *first* scene I wrote. I don't start a story unless I know where the ending is, as everything in the story has to drive toward that ending--however meandering or casual the path. But, as I said before--don't expect the Death Star to blow up, not 'Star Wars', more like 'Out of Gas' in style parallels.
This *is* my first venture into fanfic (and it's being a very pleasant whim--thanks so much, everyone for your kind comments), but not into writing, not by a long shot.

Finally got round to reading this chapter! Mainly because I simply will not rush doing so. I have to savour every word, squeeze all the taste out of it, because I know each one is packed full of juicy meaning.
"I didn't marry half of you. I married all of you"... "I'm not so sure about that." Deliciously painful.
Inara lighting the candles to chase the dark away. Exquisite in the doomed hope of it. Because "her touch didn't touch him." Ow.
Loved the phrase "taught at her whore school how to knock a man's feet out from under him". Utterly Mal.
And then "Mal had been fun ... why exactly had she picked Wash? Who had he reminded her of?" Sad, believable and a little ominous. Especially with "reckoning" later on and the being discovered by the parents.
Your depiction of Book in this chapter was marvellous. That fantastic mixture of wisdom and humour.
Inara and Jayne - a much needed touch of humour for me by that point! And I like the nod at the Mal/Kaylee 'ship.
Jayne as Spike very, very convincing. To me, Spike is Buffy's Id in much the same way as Jayne is Mal's.
And then an exciting twist. And unlike Sitting Duck, I'm dreading the ending!
