Blue Sun Job, Part 36: One Down

With most humble and abject apologies to all the readers of “Blue Sun Job” for the extremely long delay in the writing of the conclusion, here is the first of the last four chapters of the “Blue Sun Job”. By way of excuse, a Big Damn Lot of Life was occurring. All of the four remaining chapters—15,0000 more words--are written and will be presented with no further delays.

”Blue Sun Job” was initially written and conceived well before the movie Serenity was released. However, after now having seen the movie, shades of it do appear in these remaining chapters. No spoilers, just foreshadowing type hints that tie the “Blue Sun Job” scenario to the movie. Those who have seen the movie may recognize them. Those who haven’t shouldn’t extract any movie spoiler information from them.

The story thus far:
After a small-scale smuggling job went disastrously wrong, (Truthsome series) Mal got the idea to rob the Blue Sun treasury. The treasury was located in the former prison where ex-Independent enlisted soldiers from the battle of Serenity Valley had been held after the war. Mal, Zoe and others there had established an escape route than that remained intact and could be used to reenter the facility. After the successful heist, they arrive back to Serenity to a Fed ambush. Mal is arrested and questioned by Commander Harken (of “Bushwhacked”), yet it becomes clear Harken knows nothing about the Blue Sun treasury job and instead believes Mal is responsible for the annihilation of an entire Fed outpost. Cleared of that, Mal and Zoe are ultimately convicted of other past crimes. They’re rescued enroute to prison by Jayne, Book, Inara, and Simon, with River piloting the ship. Free again, they return to Shepherd Book’s ‘Sanctuary’ where Simon and River had been staying during the job. There Book tries to enlist them int

Well, if there were any doubt before about the sensibilites of Mal and Zoe, that shot plugged'em. Can't wait to see the repercussions. And glad to see the story finishing.

Wow, wow, and TRIPLE Wow! I absolutely loved all the previous stories in this series and am over the moon that there are four more chapters to go (just wish there were more). Even did a little gorram jig of joy when I saw it posted up. A shiny shiny gift that was utterly fabulous. I kind'a liked that Mal ended that *tamade hundan* but can't wait to see what the creepy conclave have up their ruttin' sleeves. Ali D :~)

Wow was that ever awesome timing. I just re-read the entire fic (including the Truthsome Series) in one night for fun--sleep? who needs sleep?--and here I find that you've updated. Alright! Thank you so much! What an awesome chapter. While I might miss the Riverish Mal, and believe me I do, this hard as nails judge, jury and executioner Mal is awesome too. :D Can't wait to see what happens next!

It's good to have you back. I had the fear that real-life and consumed you completely. I despaired of ever seeing another Blue Sun Job. I look forward to the wrap up in the coming chapters.

Keep flyin'
