One chapter to go??!! Say it ain't so! You're fixin to write a sequel, right? A really long, drawn-out, complicated sequel? Cause that would be beyond shiny at this point.

This chapter was so very good and dramatic and wow, spilling secrets that ought not to be spillt in front of the crew. Drama there. And Zoe crying! Wow. Oh man, I'd love to see this scene from the POV of the rest of the crew.

One more chapter you say. Well alright. Can it be a story-length chapter? O:)

Yup, a powerful image - Mrs. Stoic, strength incarnate, crying. And thanks for the birth/burial flashback. Most writers would have quit just before then. You knew you could do a good job of it, and did.

Absolutely, heart breakingly brilliant! Loved every word and wept over Zoe's lost little one. To lose two infants has to be so very hard and the timing with River wrenched a part of me open that still bleeds. Love it to pieces even as I dive on my last hankie. Ali D :~)

Trying to post this comment for the third time ...

- ‘Cause, you know, that’d be a sin. -

Love it. Bitter, twisted, funny. So very Mal.

- But Zoe didn’t have a whole lot of soft spots and Mal reckoned she wasn’t like to waste one of her few on Jayne. -

Spot on. And beautifully expressed.

And then with the gut-wrenching misery. OMG - it takes a lot to get to me, even more to get to me over and over again but just when I thought it couldn't get any more painful, it did.

Beautiful, just beautiful in a heart-breaking way. Mal's dependence on Zoe, his inability to comfort her ... *sniffle*

Jayne - the way he's laughing and all is rosy whilst Mal and Zoe discuss killing him - God, that was affecting. Sad, insightful. Creepifyin'.

*rolls in fic*

OMG...this chapter brought back everything I've ever loved about this story. You've really made Mal and Zoe both come alive as whole people and exlpained all their faults that Joss has ever given them. great story, great writing.

Wow.

I...I don't know much more to say. The whole scene wiht the death and burial of their child, well, it was perfect. Now I really wish that this didn't have to end.

On to the final chapter...
