Fabulous! Wonderfully put together and lovingly ended but oh my, am I the only one weeping inside because the story has ended? Mind you, that just means you must be about ready for the sequel, *dui*? So many shiny moments and a real tour de force. I especially loved Mal having to come clean to Wash at the end about him and Zoe. Had a painful rightness to it. Ali D :~)

I hope you have half a mind to visit us again, Guildsister. I liked the humor in this one, there seemed to be a long stretch when everything had gone dark and suspicious. "A bump in space?!?" That was precious.

Man, you are a menace to my computer. Almost spit on it twice within the first five paragraphs. You have the series Mal down so well with his cutting humor and refusal to do anything emotional. This ended up being the perfect bridge from the mal we saw in the series to the mal we saw in the movie (much better than that comic book series. ugh, waste of money).

Your insights in Mal, Wash, Zoe, and Book were brilliant and brought the characters more and more to life with every chapter. It's been worth the wait to see the story finished and I thank you for it.

If time allows, I echo everyone else in hoping that sequel, or hell, any story bunnies come to haunt and beg you to write them.

Great job, hon. Loved every minute of it.

That was wonderful, truly wonderful.

Mal and Wash's make-up scenes totally hilarious with just the right edge of danger. I could picture it clearly. I believed every word of it. Understood both of them from deep inside.

Mal was so splendidly unapologetic, so tormentingly coarse. I laughed out loud at "I’m thinkin’ you got your whole who’s-on-top scenario upside down there, son.” And I loved the line “That the kind of pretty colored smoke you want me blowing up your ass?” And of course, the whole exchange that followed.

Beautifully tied up at the end too - and linked into the BDM. I thought the way you had Mal mellow but remain realistic enough to know that he'll always be slightly apart from his crew convincing. Honest.

Each little good-bye scene you gave us was full of goodness. Jayne - ah, Jayne. Gotta love him. So groinal. Simon - nice to see Mal get the upper hand intellectually speaking. "Mal favored Simon with a ninety-seven percent look." is about as good a line as I have read anywhere. Made me smile.

But Book's farewell was the one that got to me. “Love thine own soul, and comfort thy heart, remove sorrow far from thee: for sorrow hath killed many, and there is no profit therein.”

Very nearly wept at that.

Just like I did at the final exchange between Mal and Zoe.

Perfect.

Thank you for a truly superior piece of fan fiction!

Actually, I don't read much fan fiction, so I'm no expert. But this is as good as many novelizations I've read. I think it's publishable, for sure.

I'm hoping you're planning more writing, and considering pursuing publication, either within the series-based venues, or (probably easier, in some ways, and, possibly, more profitable) with your original characters and 'verse.

Guildsister, this is one of the best books I've ever read. Not fanfictions. Books. I've just spent the last five and a half hours lying on my couch, completely and totally immersed in this world, and I only do that when a story is so compelling that I am literally incapable of not finishing.

I was heartbroken when this story ended. And there were still plenty of loose ends left to torment me. So many secrets... The conversation Mal and Zoe had about picking the right time to ask the rest of the crew to 'take a stand' was a little disturbing, actually a lot disturbing. The idea that they expected something like Miranda to happen is, well, "all sorts of creepifyin'".

I don't know if I'll be able to watch a Firefly episode again without thinking on what you've written. I'm not sure if I'm happy about that or not. This story doesn't exactly have a lighthearted spirit. Then again, their world isn't exactly shiny, either. And I love this even more for that reason. You fit everything in so perfectly, even the movie, and I know you started writing this long, long before that came out. Many of your fans have said that Joss Whedon should give you a call, and I sincerely think he should, too. It's not entirely outside the realm of possibility, either. From what I know of him, he's deeply attached to his fan base, and he'd know a good writer if he read one. That's just my two cents.

So, good work! I guess that's what I was really trying to say. Pardon my mushiness. ;)

I just finished this story after being introduced to it on FanFiction.net. I am now half blind, my back is killing me and I think I need a smoother but this is without doubt, the best Firefly story I have ever read. The quality is as good, if not better, than anything that has been formally published and would even hold up against the writing done for the series. Please continue your writing and I hope you will include future Firefly stories. Someone has to keep these characters alive.

I have been reading this story for two days. I stayed home from work to finish it today...which says alot since I own my own business. I have been a long time fan of everything Joss and I have to echo the sentiments of the other comments...you are a truly gifted writer. You captured the richness of the characters, the spirit of their motivations, and the flavor of their stories perfectly. I love all of the characters, but the dynamic that has always interested me the most is the one between Mal and Zoe. Your vision of that interplay is both unsettling and beautiful. I truly hope that if you are not already involved with a career in writing, which I have a hard time imagining is the case, that you consider pursuing one. I read A LOT of books by a lot of different authors...you are easily as good, if not more so. Job VERY well done.
