What I love about the way you write this relationship is the prickliness, the absolute physical and emotional equality between Mal and Zoe. Beautiful.
Being more than a little in love with Mal, it's good to be reminded that he's not a traditional whiter-than-white hero and that he can be petty, foolhardy and downright dangerous sometimes.
