..from the one formerly known as LeopardFlan. You all were expecting it, weren't ya? XD The Black represents three things- black is my fav color (it makes such a better background than white, most of the time), my fav manga series is Black Cat, and of course oftentimes my mind can be found wandering the Black.. ;). The 12 is simply because I like the number 12 (if you ask, the answer is 42). Akytca is a blend of two things, Aky and tca- Aky I consiter my personal 'internet name', it's what my closet friends think of me as (for a name, lolz); and tca comes off the end of Sonata Arctica (because they are my fav band!

I aint really good with the computer (you may have been able to guess this...) How do you get pictures an' stuff to show up in your posts? An' how do you get the sig line to pop up with your posts instead of typin' it over an' over? Etc...let's face it, I need lots of help. I have too much ADD goin' on to sit through the long version, can anyone give up the Cliff Notes on this? Prefer the large print edition. You know, the one with the pictures? I was the computer expert at my job, but that was several years ago. They thought I was a ruttin' genius or somethin. Yup, I could change the colors on the screen and the size of the font. It was kinda cool to be king of the retards, but I'm past that now...

I'm havin a hard time dealing with the current level of stupidity in my life. Seriously. I'm surrounded and about to be overrun. I work ON stupid people FOR stupid people, and nobody's wearin a ruttin sign either. I totally agree with Bill Engvall, they oughta. It'd save those of us who are just trying to get through the day a lot of damn trouble! Here I am tryin to be a big damn hero, save lives, that kind of stuff, an all I'm gettin is flak for not takin these jackasses to raise! Their bonehead plans to make everybody else pay for their mistakes are really gettin on my last nerve. And I only ever had the one good nerve to start with. It's one of those days, though. So, here I am....

I just got in from walking around my neighbourhood, trying to see some Canada Day fireworks. I saw three real fireflies!!!!! I've never seen one before! They are basically little flashing lights that float around...so pretty! On other news, I have entered my first relationship!! *blushes* He's already a browncoat, which is awesome! He plays the guitar. I was over at his dorm and he just started playing the Ballad of Serenity!! He also knows the Hero of Canton ^______^ And guess what! His initials are M.A.L. Mal!!! *dissolves into a fit of giggles*

I made cheesecake. Nommy cheesecake. My uncle, who is visiting from Netherlands, does not like cheesecake.. but this he actually complimented me on and then had a second slice. Wow! I argued with the recipe from The Joy of Cooking, and it is my best effort to date. I think that while adding the grated zest of one orange to the batter helped, the clincher was putting fresh peaches and raspberries on the top. This has absolutely nothing to do with Firefly, but so little of my blog does...

Ok so i have the beginnings of too many ideas and stories to post all in one place. At the moment each individual site i post at only caters for specific sections of my writing so i've decided to combine everything into a blog and delete them from anywhere else. I'm still going to stay in some of the online communities but i think it will just be easier this way. So for those of you who read my fan fiction thank you very much for your time and if you enjoyed them feel free to head over to my blog and read some original works. If you haven't read anything of my Serenity Series, you are totally missing out! the season is almost finished and WOAH i can't believe how big the story has gotten. If you have never read anything of mine i ask simply that you read something once and then make a decision to wether you want to continue reading. My new writing blog is www.tangledsyntax.blog.com Love what you love to read, but there is always room to love something else!!! Later D

So I mentioned my new Browncoat boyfriend in my last blog. Well, we are coming up to our one month milestone. I'm not one to care/celebrate something like that. We were in Chapters (kinda like Borders but canadian) and I checked to see if it had Finding Serenity or Serenity Found like I do every time and voila! It actually had Serenity Found!!! I calculated how much I had spent on simple pleasures this month and I came up with a lot because I bought the Map of the 'Verse and Season 1 of Chuck. Well, my boy looked at me and said, "I'll get it for you." He knows I don't accept gifts well; so he said it would be for our one month anniversary. How awesome is he? How much more perfect could a Firefly gift be for me? ^____^

I worked the last four nights and have got two more to get through, so I'm spent. Brain blown. Done. Humped. Can I make it through the next 24 hours of work without losing it? Will I be able to hang in there? I'm headed out of state Friday am for some well-deserved sun and fun, so I am determined to get through it. Prayers appreciated. I'll see you when I get back.

So I was digging around in traditional customs of different cultures again, and found Kaylee's passenger-welcoming-outfit interesting. Specifically her hair. It totally fits Kaylee, because the twin buns on her head is a sign of a marriageable young woman which in-Verse translates to anything relating to that idea. Not that she's looking for anything in that line. ha. Good thing Simon was wearing his protecto-ray glasses. Or the writers would have had one less fun awkward relationship to write. I wonder if they knew or just thought it would be a cute and vaguely asianesque hybrid hairstyle. Not to be confused with the Japanese version, which is very young girls this way.

I'm about to start a month-long tour, so if I'm nearby, I hope you'll stop to hear me play. Here's my itinerary: BabelCon (Baton Rouge, LA): July 17-19, www.babelcon.org/

Maybe three months ago or so, I posted this thread (www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=18&t=38001&m=698544#698544) because I was dreading the results for some lab work I did on a property. The city that hired us to do this work I did not have good faith that they had serving their citizens in mind. By the preliminary lab results, we did detect some species of contaminants, but at a very low concentration that wouldn't be toxic. Furthermore, the contaminants were inconsistent from contaminants you might expect from historical activity at the site. Still, I was worried the positive hit would give the city the excuse it needed to swindle the rightful landowner out of his property. But the lab results came back, and we've put together a report, and the city shouldn't be able to use our data for unethical confiscation. Very happy, very relieved.

....and then figuring a way out of them, as Uncle Joss would put it. I'm both working hard and hardly working. The latter applies, unfortunately, to Firefly fanfic. 'Where They Don't Follow' is now on hold; something about those first few chapters is driving me up the wall, and I cannot for the life of me put my finger on it. Of course, if any of you have opinions on what's wrong, at least I'd be willin' to hear 'em. If and when I suss out the problem, the first few chapters will see an edit before I get on to the good stuff. However, there is another matter, hence the 'working hard' part - original fiction. Yes, kiddies, I'm taking the plunge, have procured an entire ream of paper for the manuscript of an original novel (at least I hope it's original and that somebody hasn't already beaten me to it, AGAIN). If you haven't been skinnified on Facebook or LJ, it's a World War II submarine saga I call 'Order of Battle', first in a potential series if I can work it. Should it ever hit the shelves, I have no idea what the cover art might look like, but if the artist wants to feature the main character, I will see to it that he's the dead-spitting image of Nathan Fillion. When you read the book, you will very quickly understand why. (To that end, there will, happily, be plenty of opportunity for 'my boat' to alight from his tongue - since submarines were and still are commonly known as boats.) Another note on submarines: until the 70's, they were named after all manner of marine life. While searching for unused fish names thus suited for fictional subs, I came upon the common name 'firefish' - and further discovered that there was never a submarine named

Two, actually. But no stinkin' idea how to implement them. I can see them clearly in my head, but not the skill or the know-how to even get a prototype made. I guess you could call it "crafty" to an extent. Or even "home & garden." I'm stumped. I would think . . . I hope that it would be something that would sell relatively well at conventions and the like, but ya never know. My luck . . . probably not  I'm hesitant to bring it up here, 'cause . . . you know . . . don't want the idea stolen. I mean, even if I WANTED to tell you guys, how could I protect myself? I don't even know how to do THAT!! But if anyone has any clue or any experience in bringing ideas to fruition, I sure would appreciate any direction you might offer.

Don't worry, River's safe! No, what I mean is, I'm considering descending into currently unplumbed depths of obsessed fan-ishness. I'm considering buying the Sims 3, even though I'm not sure I have room on my home computer... Solely to recreate the characters of Firefly. I. Have. PROBLEMS. But, see, what I've always been interested in with the Sims series, is testing how well the games simulate personality interactions. Specifically by creating fictional couples as best as I can, and seeing if they ever end up together autonomously. 'Course, not sure how I'm going to find time to buy the game, make the characters, and let the simulations run, when I barely have time for writing Eidolon. But I am seriously tempted to try. Anyone else done anything like this?

I'm not entirely happy with The Gifted Ones. It's one of those things where I thought I was, but then I wasn't so I worked on it more, then I was, then I wasn't, then REALLY I was so I celebrated with Indian food and doggy biscuits (I celebrated with a labrador retriever) and I posted. Now, I think I know the true problem. I feel that I am neglecting a lot of the constant themes I wanted to portray in this series and I'm not telling everything I want to tell. It just feels awkward and not well balanced. So, if you come here one day and the entire thing's taken down, fear not. Right now I'm leaning on splitting it into two stories. One that follows New Haven, one that follows River and Co.

The cottage I'm staying at has Wireless, which is great for mobility, but not all that much different from DSL when it comes to speed. Our last cottage had no Internet connection, so this one was a huge upgrade. I was lying out on the deck tonight with the family, they saw shooting stars, that I wasn't paying attention to, but I noticed an arm of the Milky Way, before they did, but it took my dad who's a science teacher to I.D. it as such. So, I'm about half way through my vacation, I'm relaxed, slightly more tan than I was four days ago, and a little more knowledgeable than I was before I came. All said, it's been a damn good trip this year. JossIsAGod Over and out.

Well, I made it back from FLA (myself and crew in one piece, anyhow) an' now I think I need another week or so to recover. I didn't go totally batshit crazy or anything, before or after leaving work Friday...so I'm guessin' I've still got the old job to get back to on Sunday. Yay me! I didn't make it through the whole shift Friday night, thanks to the passage of some kidney sand (I'm not callin' em stones, because they didn't show up on the CT and also because I'm not a total wussy. Although I have to say, pissin' sand ain't the kind of laugh you might think...) Anyway, I took my percocet and went on vacation anyway...day or so, right as rain. We put something like 5000 miles on the rental car, and went to Cape Canaveral/Titusville, Daytona Beach, St Augustine, Orlando, Tampa/St Pete, Tarpon Springs, and Panama City Beach before heading back home again. I felt like I put about 5000 miles on my ass at Epcot and Magic Kingdom, but I'm pretty sure it couldn't have been quite that much. All in all a good week. My cat is still pissed at me for being gone so long, and yelled at us the entire night after we got home. She's settled down some now. I couldn't sleep at 4am this morning, so she and I sat down together on the couch to watch some "Firefly"...good to be back...

Well, apparently you can. My best friend from college is in the midst of a breakdown, and I swear she's going to take me down with her. She's pretty naiive, which is kind of shocking to me since she's been through as much shit in life as I have (if not more), and I've been trying to help guide her through the minefield that is life as we know it. And she asks me to do this, but she doesn't listen. It just doesn't get through. I don't know if it's me not being clear or what. It aint getting through, though. Something in her is just filled up with "I can't" and a million reasons why she can't. She thinks she's the only one who has to fight and struggle, that somehow everyone else has a shiny time of it. She's the only one who is overwhelmed with life and what has to be done to survive it. I keep trying to tell her that aint so. I keep encouraging and hacking at the jungle around her. I don't know what else to do. I know I can't do it for her. I've got my own shit to deal with. How do you help somebody who thinks they can't be helped? I'm doing my damnedest to be understanding and supportive, but it's all I can do not to just grab her by the neck and shake her til her head rattles. Maybe that'd help her see the way to help herself. Somehow, I don't think that's the best answer. It's just the best I can come up with off the cuff. My frustration level is way high right now. I mean, what the fuck do you have to do to get through to people?

Hello fellow firefly fans. I have been away for, well, let's just say a really long time, and I haven't been inspired to write new fanfics for this site. As of late, however, I have had more time on my hands and feel like I should continue the story that I started years ago. What I am going to do is re-enter my fanfics, so that you don't have to search all through the other stories, although they are just as good, better in fact. I just would really like some input and constructive criticism. Plus, positive feedback would be nice.

Ok... pick your jaws up before you catch a fly or put the phone down and hear me out before you call the bug house! Now that that's settled... I know I've been absent until now but I had a reason called GCEs...in my language, the only ticket a student can have for collage. Part of English exam (without which you won't be accepted) was that I write 2 400 word essays, one of my choices was a review... and of course I chose Serenity...apperently it worked because I got a B in english which is a high mark considering that I had like 2 hours to finish the essays, a writing tasks and two very difficult comprehensions. Thing is that in my country, English is an official language not like Italy and Germany for example start learning English when you're 10 =) Now enough of my rambling...just wanted to say I'm glad to be back, and give a clap on the shoulder to all those who like me started their summer with an exam paper xD Kim

I've thought long and hard about this. I am giving up fic writing for several reasons. First and foremost I have realized after reading many marvelous fics in several fandoms that I can never approach the level of writing of most of the talented writers out there. I don't have half the talent of a Janeo904, Rangersebulba (can't wait to read the first chapter of your novel), jackwabbit, Gillianrose, 2x2, Bytemite and others in the Firefly/Serenity fandom and elsewhere. Characterization and dialog has always been hard for me. I have absolutely no problems with exposition. I can describe things until the cows come home, but getting to the heart of the psychology of a character through dialog and actions just escapes me. I've tried working with a beta. Several have offered terrific suggestions but they seem to disappear just before the work is finished or don't appear when I need them. I also am dealing with a lot of things in real life. I barely have time each evening to go to all the websites that I want to, much less write unless I stay up. I'm naturally a night owl but real life demands that I have a job and I have to get up early in order to make it to work. If I stay up late, I'm dragging all day and totally exhusted by the end of the week. Then I spend the whole weekend catching up on websites and sleep and the whole cycle starts all over. That and a health problem that I'm currently dealing with has me a bit down in the dumps right now. I just can't do it now. I won't disappear. I'll be reading everyone else's fic and enjoying it. And I'll be making comments, mostly that I absolutely love what you wrote. TTFN

I've hit a wall with this storyline again. As soon as I figure out where I want it to go...I'll resume this story arc. This will leave me more time to work on New Blood. and maybe later, a sequel to Rebirth. Ta, B

Okay, I feel a bit silly, but... after several months here, I have made the shocking discovery that there is someone here who virtually shares my alias. It's almost identical. What are the chances with such an odd alias? I feel a bit like a thief! Anyway, the long and short of this is that I have a new account, alias just "clio." Fanfic under this username is deleted and I'll be reposting. Apologies for the annoyance of the repost. Hopefully the new chapter will make up for it.

It's a dreary, rainy day in Columbus Ohio. I just want to wrap myself up in Firefly and snuggle into bed.

Just to let you know that although Jericho Wells part XXII dropped pretty quickly off the list, it's still on there for everyone to read. And just as a sneak peek for those of you who like my Maya 'verse, the next tale is called A PERFECT DAY and revolves around Kaylee giving birth (fluff fluff and more fluff), while the following one (as yet untitled) sees the Reilly twins going on their cruise, but with the appearance of an old 'friend' who is bound to cause a ruckus. Oh, and although Serenity's crew are, of course, the main characters, I will be introducing a new crew - and I promise I won't do a Road Runner on them!

To all individuals using the bathroom at my work: If you place one of the little flimsy tissue covers over the toilet seat, please do not leave it for the next person to remove. D: *Seriously grossed out*
