i don't know if this has been discussed yet or not,but is any other 'coat out there playing thru Halo 3? has anyone noticed any thing familiar? here's an exerpt from the Nathan Fillion wikipedia entry: "Fillion has a part as a Marine in the Xbox 360 game Halo 3, this can be heard around 35 seconds into a GAMERSYDE video (GC07 Gameplay Singleplayer Video part 1). [14] He is joined by his Firefly co-stars Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk in this capacity as a voice actor. At one point early in the first mission, he identifies himself as "[Sergeant] Reynolds" over the radio." not only that, but hearing Adam Baldwin as a marine in the game is just damn cool,i kid you not,in the heat of battle,i hear in Adam Baldwin's voice "Heeeere's Vera!!" shiny tears of joy i tell you all, tears of nerd joy.

my birthday is this sunday. my "friends" wanted to take me out for the weekend and celebrate which i was all ready for. then i found out the other day that 2 out of 3 "friends" didnt want to do it anymore because they didnt want to leave their spouses for a day and a half. these are people that ive open my heart to which i dont do very often for fear of being burned. and what happened...i got burned again. it doesnt matter that i befriended them when they were lonely and took care of them when they were sick and called everyday to see if they needed anything. not to mention threw one of them a birthday party because she was alone. also threw friday night parties were i was the one doing all the cooking and cleanup. i also introduced them to Firefly. what can i say?? i am hurt. why do i choose friends who are more selfish than me?? this is why i dont make friends very often because most of them are selfish bitches who only think about themselves. i hope they all get herpes. as you can see im still pissed.

When I discovered "Firefly" it was too late. Several years too late. To my defense I have to say that I live in a small European country where the tv channels never show anything but the biggest and worst of the American shows (or reruns from the eighties). Thanks to Internet I discovered "Firefly" eventually and fell in love. The same can also be said about "Carnivale" - one of the most beautiful and frustrating tv series I have ever seen. That one was of course also cancelled :( And now when I have found another tv show that I totally love - "John From Cincinnati"... What happens? They cancel it! Grrrrrr!

So this morning, I worked as a background extra on a TV drama. I'm not going to say which show it is because I'm not a fan of it, but I know there may be people here who are fans of the show, so I'm not going to cause any controversy. ("Firefly" puts this other show to shame. 'Nuff said. ...

Haven't seen any talk about this incredibly funny show around here so here it is. For anyone who doesn't mind characters bereft of morality this show is for you. Set in Philly, the story centers on a group of friends/family that operate a local bar. The cast is made up of relative unknowns(until Danny Devito shows up) and three of the actors also write/produce episodes. Each week we find "The Gang" getting themselves into situations which display how self-centered and myopic they are. It is amazing to me that this series has been around since 2005 yet very few people seem to know of it. For any of you interested it airs Thursdays on FX from 10-11pm. Enjoy! Edit: the first 17 episodes from 2005-2006 were released about a month ago priced between $20-25. Believe me when I say it is money well spent.

So I recently moved to the Seattle area (from Chicago) and the fellow Browncoats here are great. They have a group that plays dominoes every other weekend or so at a nice cafe. They threw a GREAT mini shindig last weekend for Sereniversary and soon might do more. Can't wait to see them again.

I know that you're supposed to make resolutions at new years but lately I've been so down on myself and it's caused me to look at my body and personality with a very critical eye... so here they are, my goals starting now and I'll keep you guys up to date as much as I can so you can hold me to my word... 1. I need to lose 50 lbs and fast. I'm an actress and although I will never have that hollywood ideal (I think those girls are TOO skinny anyways) it's important for me to be in shape and right now I'm too fat. 2. I need to start looking more positively at my dreams. Of course, this is crazy hard because acting... well talk about a profession in where you are rejected at least 5 times more than you actually get the part. 3. I would really like to get a professional acting job for the summer or an internship... I cannot tell you guys the passion I have for acting and how crazily I want to act for the rest of my life. It seems impossible to me sometimes but I honestly don't see myself ever doing anything else... who knows maybe one day I'll meet my heroes

I just posted the lyrics to my new song over in the Blue Sun Room. Weepers, grab your tissues! And, no, it's not recorded yet.

He went to the war. He fought. He killed. He was wounded and neglected. He was hated and insulted. He was taught hate. His humanity was beaten out of him. He saw horrors and nightmares. Then He came home. But He didn’t leave the war. He didn’t love or laugh. He didn’t heal. He didn’t find warmth and solace in my mother’s embrace. He didn’t sleep. He barely ate. The only thing he saw or heard was his ghosts. Then He left. He took nothing with him. No clothes. No food. No money. Just a gun. I didn’t see him again until his funeral. He waited for the change to die. Ten years after the end of the war. When memories began to fade. After life resumed. He waited for peace to become a causality. He wasn’t a solider anymore. He wasn’t a father, a husband, a son, a brother. He wasn’t a hero or a turncoat. He wasn’t a fighter or a hider. He was just a bruised and broken man. He didn’t look like my father lying there in the coffin. That thin, waxy skinned doll. He looked like Death. That’s all he was in the end. He went to war as a man. They sent him home something else. They thought they sent the man back but it never returned. The man stayed and only Death returned. He chose his end alone and neglected. Like the war left him. But he did so quietly, with out the fan fare of war. He left his life behind, so war didn’t touch it. So he left me all he had. He left me his gun and his story. So now I carry Death.

Hi All! I'm very new to all this, and I'm kinda wondering what is up with everyone. What exactly am I supposed to write in this?

Sad thing about life is that it doesn’t really end when the conflict is over. Unlike in fiction-- stories, tales--, the story is finished when the hero gets the girl, when the mystery is deciphered, when the conflict is resolved. No one ever tells you how they cope up after the incident, the tragedy, the problem. No one ever does, and happily ever after is almost always never as it is. Most probably I’m just reacting to hormones (it is that time of the month….), but I am sorely down. When I am supposed to be sanguine and engaging, I find myself bored and unwanted. I would have posted this on my wordpress if only I didn't consider myself too emotional, too vulnerable. I need a distraction, and love ain’t it. Love, or the illusion of it, is definitely not it. I have to face the fact that I desperately want to be in love again. To care for another person, to make yourself believe that you are human because you can feel. But in reality, the mere fact that you coerce yourself to feel kinda negates the whole idea of love. Of that that is completely selfless. I am at the crossroad where I have to decide to pretend and hope in that in the future, I will forget that I am merely pretending; or to recognize it for what it truly is and keep on waiting passively. I can do both, but only one at a time. The problem with life is that it never goes the way you want it to. Never the way that is predictable. The hero may not get the girl, the mysteries may never get deciphered, and there certainly is no such thing as a happily ever after. And as usual,
I don't know what I'm saying. I never know what I'm saying.
Well, here we are again. At the start of some brand new weirdness from the depths of my psyche. This one was a swine to get started, until I suddenly found a little character piece I'd started a while back. I have to admit that I am going to stay out of most of the threads for a bit - too many ideas wanted to come and play at once. I'll let my fic do the arguing for me; that is after all the point of it. And unless I get something from Joss that directly and flatly contradicts anything I've written, then I'm going with what I think. I don't really have to cite my influences by now - most folk who read me have a fairly good idea. But flick between 'Neuromancer' and 'Dune', whilst having something like 'House of Flying Daggers' playing in the background, for the vibe on this one. I like conspiracy theories, of the everyday political variety. And I really do firmly believe that nobody at the top of any heap got there by being nice. So...Inara is mewed within her golden cage. Zoe is an unpregnant widow. Jayne is happily married to the ship's cook. Simon and Kaylee have a fledgling relationship that is moving past the merely physical. River is the ship's pilot, now just unstable rather than outright nuts, with a crush on Mal. And Mal is...Mal. Stubborn, funny, unexpectedly kind, and completely at sea as far as his emotions are concerned. We have all kinds of folk want to see these people again, and not all of them are fuzzy-like. Welcome to the AnJLverse. You can't say I didn't warn you.

Okay, so I'm almost done my Wash pony. All I need to do it get material for and make his shirt (this takes a long time, seeing as I need someone to drive me to somewhere with materials) I'm just wondering, which dinosaur should I put on his side? The T-Rex, or the Stegasuarus? I don't want to put both because all the other ponies will only have one. I will be posting a picture of what the original pony looked like before I turned him into a Wash, for those who are interested. Here's the list of what I think I might paint on all of there sides, feel free to comment, complain, or give suggestions. Or all three whatever floats your boat. I'm still not sure if this is what I want for Mal and Zoe, I think I might rather have something else for Zoe, but I just can't seem to think of anything. Well, Shades of the Past is finished. And, honestly, I intended, at first, to let Shade die off and move on, having a few other ideas floating around in the vasty nothingness between my ears.:knife: But I didn't. I couldn't in fact. The story got under my skin while I was writing it, and more and more things began to pop into my head, and before I knew it I was eleven chapters and tens of thousands of words into a sequel, called Long Road Home. Eventually, I will move on to those other ideas, Lord willing and the creek don't rise. But for now, I think I'll stay with this, and see where it goes. I want to thank everyone who has commented on the story, and encouraged me to keep going. I'd never done this, and your words really helped keep me going when I thought I might just quit. Happy reading, and smooth sailing, Bad

So the AH has filed to modify the child support because #1 is now 19 - and in his suit he has requested that because he had to hire a lawyer to go to court to modify the agreement - I should pay for said lawyer! Oh its so funny! I have laughed so hard my stomach hurts! What an idiot.

Why is it that i cant seem to do anything right. My mother seems to think im uncaring. I have school on monday nights, 7-10 and i work tuesday mornings either at 2am or 3 am. So i told her a few weeks ago i can't pick her up on mondays and to please make alternative arrangments. Because supposedly im suppose to get sleep in the afternoons. So when she called me this afternoon one hour into my almost nap trying to get SOME rest before school because i gould rest until FOUR expecting a ride i was little mifted. I left her message afterwords saying i see you've called me why? It can't be for a ride because you know if dad doesn't owrk on mondays i cant pick you up... i was a little cranky because i was just finished puking (i get stressed induce nausea... being waken by the phone after only an hour of sleep stresses me.) Which then leads to a nice fight about how I'm willing to go out of my way to get dad to and from work but NOOOOOO i cant pick her up. im still cranky... I yell 'Because if i cant help dad he doesn't make me feel like CRAP!!!' which is true. Just because i live with my mother she seems to think she can treat me as her whatever. I get off at 10am most days, so if i dont clean all the dishes, or laundry or what ever im a bad daughter. If i made plans already and i can't lend her my, MY, car im incondierate. Especially if i made plans with my father a WEEK in advance most likely shes going to say about 10 minutes before i leave "Oh wheres your keys i need to go (insert chore/family event here)" Like i have no life. oh and you know she comeback when i defended me taking time out of my life to try to get dad to work? "YEAH RIGHT! you where almost in tear last week over try to get him to work" my response "Because you guys wouldn't help out when i had plans worked out (three work schedules conflicted) saying it was inconderate to do it to YOU!!!" Because if i had a manditory training i had to attend, i cant do anything about it. But if i take my brother to work it would work out, if my dad takes him to work it would work, but us not taking dad to work doesnt work. FUCK!!!! i work 40 hours a week, in a fairly stressful job, i am a part time student, i have to make sure x amount of people get home or to places, i have to do the dishes, laundy, clean house, make dinner, i have to do the shopping, i have to take care of Claire and all that in a house with 3 adults and 1 17year old. Just because i work at 3AM and not 3PM! or 9am or any other fucking time. .... im going to bed now im going to cry alittle bit more get my 6 hours of sleep for the night, then tomorrow im going to wake up early, work for an hour come back and get dishes soaking and claire walked, then im going to go pick up dad go back to work for another 8 hours, have pick me up (because im lending hom my car) run to the bank, pick up holly clean the dishes i soaked pick up mom then sleep for another 6 hours before i work a 10 hour shift on wednesday.

Hey all. Been out of the world for a while. RL's been kicking my a** lately. What with a craptastic job, lack of car, weeping friends and genreal depression, it's been difficult working up the ambition to get on the computer at all. Much less, do any posting. And then my mom got hurt. She was in a bad motorcycle accident in Missouri on the 4th. I live in Michigan. I got down there this past weekend with my brothers but it's playing merry hell with my job. Anyway. Wanted to see what was going on in the verse. Looks like some good things here. Possability for a sequel. Asarian posting art. Made me smile for a bit.

................................................. Voices – they will float through a dark place like dust on a hot night – they will catch the ear, play itchy on the mind - and the corridors of Serenity were so very, very dark. “I don’t murder children.” “I do.” Zoe Alleyne heard the voices as she moved through the blackness, as she patrolled. It was typical of Malcolm Reynolds – she thought – not the obsessive playing and replaying of the Operative’s murderous statement… but just the plain fact that he was doing it here – in the darkened interior of Serenity. The rest of the crew had at least attempted to make something of their stay in this place, on this moon – to make a show of trying out new, bigger, brighter, more private quarters - but not the Captain. He was right of course – Zoe knew that sooner or later they would gravitate back here - to the ship, to the heart. Except her. Zoe’s heart was broken. It had been impaled with a spear the size of a giant harpoon and bled away in an instant. “I don’t murder children.” “I do.” Her husband had not been a child – oh, he could be childlike, she loved him for that – so many of the men she met made a big damn show of their all conquering manfullness – but not HIM no. Child like… And hell he was just plain childISH – at times but… he was not a child, he was a man. He had been a man. Had been a husband. She HAD loved him for it. Past tense – past damn tense. Had married him for it. “I do.” Murdered all the same. And so there were voices in the dark – and the chambers of the heart rang hollow and empty with the slow pacing of her feet. But there were no faces, no lights, no husbands, no ghosts, no Wash and this was no place that she wanted to be. But she was. She was patrolling. Someone had to do it.

I'm not one of those people who needs to be in a relationship to be okay. But it would be foolish of me to say it doesn't make me happy to kiss and cuddle and be attracted and attractive. There's something about seeing yourself through someone else's eyes, someone who you think is wonderful, who's telling you you're beautiful inside and out. All those irritating flaws don't seem as important anymore. You feel like a better person. You're making someone smile and you smile more. It's an incredible feeling. So right now... right now I'm just happy. And calm. Happier and calmer than I've been for a long time. There's no demands or unsurety, just feeling good. There's distance. I'm wary of devoting myself overseas again; I know everyone understands that. But regardless of that, I'm putting myself out there to say that I am happy, life is good, a lot of stress has been lifted, and my honeybear means so very much to me. Fate has been in equal measures cruel and kind, really, but kindness and joy always outweighs anything else, I think. It's just finding it that's the trick. The last few months have been quite a learning experience for me. And a rollercoaster. I was so upset so much of the time, and everything seemed to crumble, and then... Then all that ugly dust settled and I saw something beautiful. I never expected things to work out this way, but I'm glad. Wherever it ultimately goes, I'm glad.

...more than I am right now It started yesterday when I spent 4 hours in doctors offices because of a shoulder injury. I started at the orthopedic office and ended up getting an MRI where they injected ink into my shoulder... It's very possible that I would have to get surgery over my winter break and it would leave me unable to drive for a month and pretty much in a sling... I'm scared

So....I'm in the thick of The Losing Side, Saved You in the War, and a fanfic satire....and what do I do but go and write another story. Fortunately, this one was short. Last Stand was inspired by an online chat with ncbrowncoat where the subject of the defenders of the Alamo came up, and she was telling me how strongly Texans feel about the defenders. Got me thinking, and a fic was born. The Wikipedia entry "laconic" also provided inspiration (I like saying 'inspiration' better than 'I stole from a Wikipedia entry'). The Greeks were laconic, did you know that? So....I did what I do when I can't stop thinking about something....I wrote a story. :D

Wow, has it been long. How is everyone? Much has happened since March of this year. A much to much. Boy, has this place slowed down. What have I been into recently? Working. Not fun to need money. Give me serenity any day. I've done a lot of writing, and my mind has done much developing. Get a hold of me some time. I miss my shiny friends!

Nimen dou hao, wode da jia... Just wanted to let you all know that I am now officially "off the market." I got married this past Saturday. She's not officially a Browncoat but she likes to go shooting and in the afternoon after the Nikah (Islamic wedding announcement) we were at her place, she turns on her TV and we see the movies scheduled for 4pm, and -- I'm takin' it as a Sign -- HBO is showing the BDM at 4pm, so we settle in to watch. We miss the opening with the Operative, but turn the TV on in time to see Serentiy descending through atmo as the main theme cranks up. Figure it's only a matter of time, tho, & she'll be understanding all my Chinese swearin'... -- Jonathan M.A. Ghaffar

Hi everyone! Well, it's been a crazy year. I want to thank you all very sincerely for your support and for your patience this year. I had a lot going on it "real life" and it made my ship times suffer often, and on top of that the postal service has taken to losing a lot of my orders. So thanks to everyone who put up with waiting weeks for a necklace, or had to wait while I shipped a replacement for something that got lost. I added a number of items to my shop recently, and may yet get a few more on there this year. I've changed a little in how I do things in an effort to get my shipping back on track. In the past, if I planned to sell multiples of any one item, I'd make the first one, photograph it, sell it, and then as more were ordered I'd make them up on the spot for the person who ordered them. That gets tricky when you end up with no time, or being sick, or out of town, and you need to make ten necklaces to fill your orders! So, I'm switching over to more of a tendancy of only listing items I actually have made, or in the case of a few designs, know I will have time to make when they are ordered. It means less stock in my shop sometimes, but faster filling when you place an order. Okay, on to the really important thing. You know the Christmas season, where every seller of anything in the world starts pandering for sales like crazy? Yeah, I'm shutting my shop down for it. The reason is this. I'm going to Serenity LA at the end of this month, and then a few weeks later heading out for the Browncoat Cruise. It's going to be a blast, but I remember last year......when I got home from Burbank (B3/Flangate) and had a ton of holiday orders piled up. In order to get them to people for the holiday, I had to work day and night for a bit and blow much of my "profits" on Priority Mail shipping to make sure they got there on time. Not looking to repeat that! By the time I get back from the cruise it's going to be too late to send much out for Christmas. And also in that time period, I have to start doing inventory which is a pain in the neck when you have thousands of little tiny objects to count! It about killed me last year. Before heading to Serenity LA I need to leave myself time to fill all outstanding orders, then I'm closing my shop while I'm gone. I'm also taking a bunch of my stock with me to sell at Serenity LA and the cruise, and before I start selling again I'll have to go through and update my shop with what I do and don't have available. There is a slight chance I might open up for a bit between Serenity LA and the cruise; if I do I'll send out another newsletter letting you guys know. So.....if you're at the cruise or Serenity LA, track me down! I'd love to meet you. Everyone else, If you've had your eye on Christmas/Insert Holiday Here shopping, now's the time! Like, in the next week. I'm really sorry to do this to everyone, but it's better than letting you down when it comes to getting your gifts delivered. I do have all my shiny Christmas packaging stuff (well, some of it....and a really huge box of stuff set to arrive this week) so I can do the whole giftish packaging thing on your orders. Hah. And now I can boast about being the seller who closed her doors for the holiday season! But that's not why I'm doing it, honest. Still, in about, oh, a week when all the stores bust out the tinsel and the neeeeeeverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-ending Christmas elevator music, I'll be cackling inside. Mine is an eeevil (and slightly grinch-like?) laugh. :D Happy cons, holidays, and keep her in the air. I'll see a bunch of you soon. Jessi www.serenityverse.com/shop

A few days ago, I got up and came downstairs to go on my computer. Sitting in front of my computer was a Jayne hat with a copy of the note from his Mom. It turns out my husband ordered me one for Christmas, but couldn't wait to give it to me. What a guy! He really knows the way to my heart (besides through the rib cage!). I plan to wear it to work this week. Nothing like the supervisor setting a good example! When I'm not wearing it, it sits on my Buddah statue beside my dinosaurs! (I have a very interesting computer desk!)

It has been a year since I shipped out and left the cold nothern Vermont 'moon' and found a new Home world down in PA to settle on. Glad to say it was a busy year with making new friends and reconnecting with old ones, and getting a new job. Lots of Serenity/Firefly items found their way into my cargo bay- The sheet music book from Firelfy, Firefly companion volume 2 and Serenity special edition DVD. I still want the BDC cookbook, Serenity found essay collection, Bedlam Bard CD and the soundtrack from Done the Impossible. Have a lot of wants I know- but I have to work before I play and things like rent, groceries and crompression coils ain't cheap, most of my cashy money gets spent just to keep flyin. But for now life is going okay. I have the Browncoats to share the 'Verse with as well as fanfiction to keep my creativity alive and certain BDHs to keep my shiny and happy. They let me tag along on their exploits. For instance the other night after I returned to the 'Rim' after my job in 'Core' there they were. So I boarded Sernity and we were on our way to Greenleaf. Then there was an explosion that knocked out our cadalizer and we were running out of air and warmth. Mal sent us all out in the shuttles while he was to stay with Sereniy. Zoe was injured and unconscious. We thought it might be the end- especially for Mal. When we turned back around we found him passed out, shot and bleeding on the bridge. All is well now. I reluctantly had to return to reality.(and the DVD main menu) So now as I make my way through the work day I am heartened by the thought taht Mal, Kaylee, Inara, Zoe, Wash, Simon, River, Jayne and Book are never far away. That they will always be there when I need them. My fellow Browncoats keep my spirits up and my hopes as we gab on about a sequel and we all keep holding till Mal gets back.

Ok heres my firefly theory. River... Is gay. Here my arguement. River is very affectionate with women. When you subtract her brother from the equation she always prefers the company of women to the men on the Ship, even Zoe. She sometimes seems to prefers Kaylee's company (and alittle bit of Inara's) to Simon's most of the time. And from a basic psychological stand point, she shows a maturity level normally akin to a girl reaching puberty (fitting for the time frame where she entered the academy) that also shows the signs of homosexual thoughts and actions, the basic behavior patterns one might see with a young developing homosexual addolesent. though to add an arquement against my own theory it is possible alot of these tendacys are gleened off her brother who seems shy around the opposite sex, which could leave to more adolesent feelings and thoughts. And she spends alot of time with her brother... ok go ahead and argue if you want but i wanted my theory known

Bit back the urge to laugh. Ruttin storage bay – so many little alcoves and run offs – cupboards and store rooms - could be any one of… Easy now… For a big man – Jayne Cobb could move real silent with a mind to… There was something lying near the electrical junction box… wait – wait – breathe – just a coat is all… ragged and Reaverish… stinking of sweat and urine and – huh – meat… Thing musta tagged itself, run into the box and caught shock… Well, critter, that shock aint nuthin’ to what’s comin’ up on you now – fe fi fo fum I smell the blood of a very bad man with a very big weapon and the powerful itch to use it. Kicked out with a booted foot – still keeping to the wall – the coat shifted – left a smear – a little less fresh… Jayne span and tracked backwards, behind his gun, in the opposite direction.

If there is, by chance, a season 2 of Firefly, how is it going to be done? Will it take place before or after Serenity? Of it's after...What of Wash and Book - If there's nothing I hate more it's when you grow attatched to characters and are forced to remove them from my mind/heart because they are no longer there...Which is sad. Give us a sign. Oh, and if there is by chance of a sequel to the movie, I guess the same questions are asked. Will there be flashbacks? Will it take place earlier? These are not easy questions to answer. :crap: Thank you, Alan Tudyk for hinting that there MIGHT be a Serenity 2, but could either you or the our fluffy lord give us a sign? -Shannon "The Shamrock" Reilly

Hi there, wow it's been a month since i last wrote anything. I had a very good driving lesson today. I had to do a 3-point-turn (or whatever they're called nowadays). I managed to successfully do one after only 3 attempts so I was very happy with myself. I also managed to reverse in a straight line. Other than that, my corners are getting better and my gear changes are nearly perfect. It was slightly better than last week when I got stuck behind this tiny van and was forced to do 32mph on the A19 (the limit is 70mph). It was embarrassing bacause everyone was overtaking. But i did get to drive to Hartlepool. On the job front- still nowt. I'm going to phone someone tomorrow to see if they can help. TTFN Jennifer -x-

Well, I just was letting my mind wander (yeah, its dangerous, but I was bored) when this poem suddenly spang out from nowhere. I don't know what to make of it, but here it is: It was a stormy night When the werewolf cried; It sounded through mountains And into the sky. The howl chilled Everyone's bones; It was a feeling We could not condone. So into the rain We dashed and we ran; Untill we were stopped By a giant mustard can. What do we do We cried in dismay; Let's head out And search by the bay. So we looked and we looked 'Till we found the werewolf. We threw a lighter at it And also some keys; 'Till the werewolf took off And swam out to sea. Now the werewolf Bothers us no more; But on each stormy night We determindly snore.

Hey All Today I got some unexpected, but really great news. Of the various things that are shooting in Regina, one of them is this $30 million dollar horror flick called WALLED IN starring Mischa Barton, Cameron Bright and Deborah Kara Unger. Well today, I got a call from their production office, and got a job with them. Right now, it's only for the weekend as a security guard. Basically, I'm sitting in my car between 7 AM to 7 PM next to the set that's all the way out in the middle of nowhere, and keeping an eye out in case if someone shows up. Like I said, it's the easiest $300 I'll ever make. And if things go really well, they might just call me back to work a few more days here and there. Hopefully, this won't get in the way of volunteering for the Gemini's next week, and that this'll be the beginning of my career in film. I'm really happy and proud of myself.

I really should oughta say 'books', plural. 'Cause an ending ain't all I've thought of. Much to my relief, and excitement, and joy, and other emotions of delight, it looks like my muse has at last gotten its prairie harpy off my boat and gotten me back in the air: I'm finally writing more than a paragraph a night, I have a whole continuity thought out for this story arc, and just now I thought of a name for the story arc. Those of us who are Lord of the Rings buffs (and were before the movies) very well know the adage 'Not all who wander are lost': but suddenly and randomly, I found myself thinking about the rest of the poem from whence that line stems. All that is gold does not glitter Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither Deep roots are not reached by the frost. And then I thought to myself: Self, it is positively uncanny how well that poem describes the underlying theme of our story arc. Self replied, It damn sure is. And then I went to my documents folder, and I looked at the story arc, and I said: "Now I shall give you a name, and I will call you 'The Old That Is Strong.'" Suddenly I feel a damn sight more excited about this project. And I will probably feel even more so, once my shiny new beta returns notes on the latest couple of chapters. In the meeeeeeentime, I feel to post a couple of excerpts assuming this blog system doesn't crash when I try to post them. Anybody care for a look-see? I brought cookies....

I don't know if this has been posted already, but for those of you who don't already know, Nathan Fillion Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk provided voices for some of the marines and various supporting characters in Halo 3 for the X-Box 360. There is one part in the game where you assist some marines in the mission called "Storm" (before you open a large door to enter a facility) where one of the marines (voiced by Tudyk) can be heard saying "Hey, it's the Chief...Shiny!" upon your arrival. I thought that was really cool. There must be some Browncoats working at Bungie Studios.

This is only a test. *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep* Okay. Per a couple of requests, here's a quick teaser scene from The Old That is Strong, Book V: Ships That Pass in the Night. Four out of five doctors agree that feedback is a quintessential supplement to the heart and soul. ********** "Tell me something, Commander." The smile on Mal's face was familiar to Harken: he'd seen it before when Mal first tried to convince him there were Reavers about. "The names Wilberforce Rogers and Brian Connelly mean anything to you two?" "I can't help but wonder how those names are so familiar to you, Sergeant," Harken said quietly. "And bein' that I never personally crossed paths with those two, I'm compelled to ask what all four of you have in common." "How about the time we all fought a war against a band of malcontent ingrates, and won?" Haymer said emphatically. "How about we get more specific on that one?" Mal pressed. "All four of you tried to kill Ray Corsetto. Not a one of you knew it at the time. Two of you wrecked a couple o' his ships, and the other two laid waste to his ground. But the man's got into a mighty uncanny habit of survivin' whatever gets throwed at him. You expect to get through this, best get hopin' you're ready to deal with him, 'cause it's eight to five he's ready for you." "You're sure of that, are you?" Harken's eyes narrowed. "Colonel Haymer, would you like the honour of telling Sergeant Reynolds how ready we are?" "Of course," Haymer said. "Thanks to you, Sergeant, much of the system is now acutely aware of paxilon hydrochlorate and the effect it can have. Granted, given its purpose, the G-twenty-three formula was a failure. But the pax still exists in a few different formulae, one of which is now known as paxilon-J. It has an effect on a person similar to the G-twenty-three, only considerably more severe. It renders coma within minutes, and eventually, as it slows cerebral, respiratory and pulmonary activity, a long and unpleasant death." "However, it's yet to be tested on a human being," Harken said, pacing ominously closer to Mal. "So we'll leave you now to consider which of your crew will be the first guinea pig. You'll understand if we want to ensure that Captain Corsetto doesn't survive what we throw at him this time." **********

Sorry it's taken me so long to post back here, this week has been absolutely insane and well lets just say I woke up with a bit of a headache this morning. I got a call back about my shoulder and it turns out that the MRIs didn't show anything that wasn't normal. They want me to go back into physical therapy but I seriously don't think I can take anymore of that. I'm only 18 and I've been in physical therapy for years. I'm just done, I can work through it myself and just deal with the pain. My freshman showcase for theatre ran this week and it went awesome! Our scene was the most loved by the audience and i got so many compliments! I really feel like I've found where I belong and that I have a future in the showbiz industry... Hey who knows, maybe one day I'll get to act with our BDHs. In other news... SOCON Refs SUCK! We lost to Georgia Southern yesterday 35-38 and we have video proof of about 15 bad calls, two of which resulted in GSU scoring touchdowns. Gah! I just want to know how much they were paid to throw the game against us?! alright that's all for now, I have two tests to study for... GoddessWarrior Signing Out

Zoe loved the smell of the orchard – fresh blossomed even on a bad day like today, a grounding day – a burial day - a funeral, putting papa in the earth – and she was chewing her lip and thinking to herself and wondering over the talking of folks and how fire could be friendly – it never felt friendly to be caught in the flames and it sure never helped papa. Looking over at her mother so uprighteous and strong. And it was like she could smell flame now – come down with that long black shuttle… the one that brought papa’s body home with it – stubbing through the atmo and leaving a tarry stain on things – like one of Old Henry’s evil cigars it caught at the throat – caught in the nostrils and made the eyes do things they weren’t s’posed to – like cry a piece. Looking over at her mother so uprigheous and strong – and doing her daughterly best – her gorram daughterly best (yeah - but let ‘em hear the bad word in the good girl’s mouth – and the devil take ‘em!) to be like her. Didn’t take after her Mama much, folks said – but Zoe knew better. Never would catch Mama mistaking fire for a friend – or taking her eye off a something meant to be watched… and Zoe the same. Even when her eyes were smarting and salty sore, she was using them just fine – scanning the sombre faces of the funeral crowd – whole mess o’ family here – stood looking severe as the mournful fanfare drifted out among the trees. Stood looking severe - but didn’t keep their unruly kids from snivelling out loud, didn’t keep some from running around in play on the sidelines, thought zoe scornfully – yes the whole family had congregated, (and there was a good word!) a sprawling clustered mix of dark coats covering over the brown and the blue. She knew well her Mama’s worry about the reception later – Brown and Blue just weren’t cuttin’ up kindly on each other these days. Took something like a funeral – took something like a death - to bring a family close again. Not for long, thought Zoe. She could see clear the narrow looks from them that saw the orchard as up for grabs now. Browncoat might have to make a play for Mama herself and marry for it – but the ‘lliance could most likely just tear themselves off a strip and call it commandeering. Buccaneering her Mama woulda said. But Papa had been staunch for the Blue – ‘I’m all for a league of civilised men,” she’d heard him say on many occasions, “but lotsa folks gotta get the civil in ‘em first! Ho ho!” and his big chest would puff up with his satisfied smile and his low, low laughter “Ho ho!” No puff in that chest anymore… popped it with a medal and the air went right out. “Yes Sir.” Zoe would reply, hands behind her back, standing under the warm gaze of those eyes of his – but feelin’ her Mama at her back making sure her daughter didn’t crack wise or laugh outta turn. Weren’t like her mama never laughed though – oh she could laugh up a storm when she wanted… Zoe wished she’d do it now – a big storm blow the Blue suits, the Black shuttle, the Medals – blow it all back up into space. She kept herself still. Papa woulda wanted that most like. Maybe. Already she wasn’t sure. Maybe she’d ask Old Henry – cigars or not – she could see him huddled, despite the sun in a great brown coat, (“I’m black enough already – don’t need to wear none”, he had growled at her scowling Mama) a coat as looked older even than him. Yes Sir… maybe Old Henry – looking at her with sharp knowing eyes. Eyes like her mother. Alleyne eyes. Eyes like her own.

My mom is making me a Jayne hat!! She thinks it looks silly. I quickly corrected her, saying it's rugged and cunning. A man walks down the street wearing that hat and people know he's not afraid of anything. She just laughed and agreed to make me a Jayne hat replica. I'm super excited! I was going to buy one but my mother said she'll make me one. When I get it, I'm gonna take pictures with it. :) I'd love to see how many people have Jayne hats! I'm going to wear it to the next Serenity con when it comes to Toronto. I've never been befoe, so I'm super excited!

I have had several people ask me why I chose to write my first fan-fic with Jayne as the central character, and portray him as sort of a dark hero. I prefer the term 'anti-hero', to be honest, but that's me.:fork: The character of Jayne is the least known, other than that of Book, and in Post BDM fanfics Book isn't easy to write about, since he's, um, dead. The simple fact is that I love a good mystery right along with a good ass kickin', lol. I can't help myself, there's just nothing so cool as unraveling a tale where you only know a little bit about it at the start. Another reason is just because I like Jayne. He's honest about who and what he is, rare in any 'verse, including this one. He cares nothing at all for what others think of him, and places his family above all else. And, finally, we are all a product of our environment. What makes us what we are is a culmination of our own life experiences. So what did it take to make Jayne? How many times might he have been betrayed to make him the callous, uncaring, self-centered person he seems to be? True, other characters may seem more attractive, and easier to write about, but who wants easy, right? :banghead: Well, okay, easy is good sometimes, but writing is supposed to be a challenge, and making Jayne into a good guy is one hell of a challenge you gotta admit. So that's why Jayne. In a nutshell. Be glad to hear what you think, and which character you think has the most potential for great fan fic. And long live Firefly!

Tomorrow I have my first photoshop class, bright and early. Every weekday hence I will have said class, and every weekend (unless I put in a request) I'll be working early. So I just wanted to let everyone know I wasn't going to be around very much. I don't know what kind of free time I'll have after homework, and there's certainly not likely to be any late nights with this kind of schedule. So, if anyone wonders where I am, that's where I am.

Big damn shiny thanks to everybody who commented on the first one!! No, really, I'm very deeply moved.[/Simon] So, them as wanted to see more, here ya go! The Old That Is Strong, Book III: Love and War brings us this one. *shambles off to see if beta replied yet* ********** The calculated tumult of River's defense stymied and quailed her attackers: they could not know of the emotional typhoon that pushed her frenzy to its limits. Yet her every move was like a precision timepiece in its execution, as if carefully planned, boarded and carried out according to her own design. It was fast becoming apparent to those pressing on the attack that her resistance would see no let-up until every one of them was dead, dying or on the run. With grim determination they pressed on with their assault nevertheless: one, a hilted blade protruding between his balled fingers, took a swing at River's eye, but she ducked the swing and landed a debilitating punch in his kidney. Twisting his body, flinging it out of the way, she head-butted the hood approaching her head-on and hoping to surprise her from behind his crony's crumpling form, but it was not to be. River sent him tumbling flat on his back, struck out with her right fist and caught the stomach of the man whose lip she'd already bloodied, taking him out of the fray by uppercutting squarely into his nose and distorting his vision. Only a handful now were in any condition to walk, let alone fight. Distressed and adrenaline-fueled as she was, River showed no ill effects – in fact, her speed and agility only increased with each passing attack. She could read the fear and confusion of over a half-dozen ruffians beaten senseless by a single girl, but such a brutally self-descriptive term gave rise to a raging impulse to scream aloud. She fought the urge down, channelling it instead to her madly flailing limbs, none of which so much as twitched without slamming into a skull, a stomach, or other key point of incapacitation. Almost involuntarily one leg swung upward and buried itself in another stomach, doubling the hood over, but it was not the leg's moment to tarry. With lightning speed River shifted balance onto it, backlashed with her other foot and crushed the larynx of the one making to grab her from behind. She completed the move with a split-second handspring that drove both her fists into the lungs of the man she had doubled over, knocking the wind out of him. She returned upright just in time to spot two newcomers dead ahead – she had yet to belt either of them, but their intentions were no different from the rest. Launching herself airborne, she lashed out with both legs, her boot soles making audible contact with the skulls of the two men before her. They dropped to either side like bowling pins, but behind them a dread of a sight caught River's eye, a split second before she delivered a roundhouse kick to another hood approaching her from behind. As she faced forward again she beheld the evilly grinning face of Grant Hollis, approaching the fray at an almost leisurely pace, as if he was out for a Sunday stroll. Physically, his intentions were indiscernible: he was making no move to attack her. But as River connected with him an abhorrence of his purpose flooded her mind. She bolted toward him, fist balling, sights set on his throat – despite the horrifying knowledge that she was too late. Hollis's grin widened, but was far outclassed by the evil that spouted from his opening mouth. "Eta kooram na smech!"

In about an hour, my mother will be finished making Jayne's hat! She started about 2 hours ago, not even. (Thank you for knitting for the past 25 years!!) It's coming along great! I even got to help make the PomPom! So when I post my picture, I want other Jayne Hat lovers to post pictures of them and theirs. Would y'all do that for me?!

Ok. The long wait for pictures of my hat is over! (mainly cause I wanted it, LOL!) But here we are. My mother tried to match the colour as close as possible. We used a dark gold, carrot orange faded, and rust. (we didn't have rust red! We thought we did.) But I still love it! It turned out great.

I just need to vent and I decided to do it here… If you’re Australian you probably know this story, but for those who aren’t or don’t--- a few weeks ago a group of kids were playing at a pond and saw a suitcase floating around. They pulled it to shore, opened it and inside was the cut-up body of two-year-old Dean Shillingsworth. Kids found the body. Children. Most of them twelve or close to it. One goes to my school; the other’s, my old primary (elementary) school. The media, those fucking parasites, tried to get into my current school to interview the kid. The police had to put us in lockdown to keep people going in or out. I don’t understand why they couldn’t leave these kids alone. They have seen something no child should have to endure, why harass them with questions that are only going to keep the memories fresh in their minds? Though I don’t think it’ll be leaving anytime soon. The pond was a very common place for kids to play, and that someone would leave a body there chills me. It is less than a five-minute walk from the local primary school. Kids went there everyday to have fun and relax; to be kids. Now they go there to leave flowers in honor of Dean, or they don’t go there at all. Great, now I’m crying. I learned to ride my bike at this pond, after school I would go there with friends to hang out and feed the ducks, I watched over my little sister while she played there, my first excursion (field trip) was to that pond. For many of us, the pond was a symbol of our youth to be looked back upon with fond memories; now when I think about it I feel sick. The number one suspect is Dean’s mum, she’s been arrested and everyone's already condemned her. I don’t know if it was, but I pray the right person is convicted and that they suffer until their last breath. I had a nightmare the other night, of the mother strangling Dean until the life drained from his tiny body, his scared voice crying at her to stop. I woke up in cold sweat. (If it was her) How could a mother kill her own child? How does ANYONE become twisted enough to kill a child? The officials were supposed to take Dean away from her to live with his grandmother; I guess she wasn’t proving to be a fit parent. Was it anger? Did she feel like she had failed as a mother and it was somehow Dean’s fault? Was it jealousy? Another woman was going to raise her baby; did she decide that if she could raise him, no one could? Or was it just plain murder? I’m trying hard not to think about it; I’ve got other things to worry about. But it’s just so close to home (in more than one sense). I know things can’t go back to the way they used to be: the school, the kids, the pond, the entire community. It’s all different now, damaged, broken, stained, I can’t think of the right word. I just… I don’t know. I needed somewhere to put my feelings. Thanks for reading.

My brother is scheduled to go back to Iraq. And, do not start that crap about why we shouldn't be in Iraq! It's not welcome in my blog's comments.
Monday, 29 October 2007 01:11:13
In my last blog, I said that my brother is going back to Iraq, and I didn’t want anyone leaving any comments that were anti-Iraqi war. Then I just realized something: I left a blog on a site about a show where two of the main characters are war veterans. This is perhaps one of the last places you’d find someone who was anti-Iraqi war! LOL! I’m sorry if I offended anybody. Now, I’m not going to get political here. I have my opinions about the war, and I’m not going to start now. But for those of you are anti-Iraqi war (if you’re here), I’m going to ask something of you. If you like getting into political discussions (which is okay, as it’s something people enjoy doing and you have the right to do it), please be sensitive to the people around you. The person standing next to you may have a child/spouse/sibling/other close relative/lover/friend/etc. overseas right now. That person next to you is constantly worrying about the person in the “sandbox”. They don’t know if they will ever see that person alive again. It is a heartache they have to carry for at least a year. They love that person dearly over in the Iraqi desert right now, and--chances are--they don’t want to hear your political opinions because it makes the pain worse. So, whatever you do, please be responsible about your opinions.

Alrighty then! LRH is finished, and fully posted, just in time for opening day! Thanks to all who took the time to comment, your input is appreciated! For my next trick, ( just kidding ) the next installment of the whole Shade 'verse is tentatively called "BLue Blood", and I am working on it already, some. A little. I did mention deer season, right?:blast: Anyway, I'm also working on another jayne centric fic, entitled The Last Spartan. Might post that one first, but I just don't know. Might need to give Shade and company a rest. Opinions? Always welcome, so don't be shy. Hope everyone is having a great day, and as always Happy Reading. Long Live Serenity!

In earnest, I think I'm beginning to develop a little crush on Jewel Staite. Usually I never care to know much about actors/actresses in real life. Primarily because they can, almost invariably, never live up to the character in the show you fell in love with. Film is grander than life, right? But when Jewel Staite began to publish her myspace blog, I subscribed to it all the same: she is, after all, Kaylee. And now I'm finding that I am even fonder of Jewel than I am of Kaylee! That seem right to you? Not that I don't like Kaylee. It's not a question of whether I like her... some of us have grown attached. But Jewel, I dunno; she's got a cuteness to her, and it ain't just her clumsiness with fire-arms. Odd thing is, I really got a crush on her beatiful heart and mind. Sure, I find Jewel pleasant enough to look at myself. Yes, because she's pretty. But the way she writes... it's just... wow! Funny, genuine, witty, smart, kind, and genuine; did I mention genuine? She's the real deal. WYSIWYG. And I just can't get past how friendly she is to her fans. Honestly, I do not think I've ever been so attracted to a person's mind, really, more than anything else. Her words are sexy, without being sexual. That make sense? Word of the Day: "spottie", NOUN. PRONUNCIATION: spä-tE. Contraction of "space" and "hottie". ETYMOLOGY: coined by Jewel Staite in her myspace blog.

F me upside down and sideways. Damn it. I can't get the amazingly hot image of a ruffled (top three buttons unfastened, shirt untucked, no suit jacket on - all that SKIN?!) Sean Maher out of my HEAD. And I can't, for the life of me, even THINK of Simon when looking at him. So that mental image is doing absolutely NOTHING for my muse. Pity me. I have no pictures. Yet. I'm sure if you search, you'll find some, though. The convention, however, was amazing. I'm shocked my own self. I'll have a report of it up at my LJ next week sometime.
