Brenda: Well, I did say that my dad said it was a medicine man.  But when he said it it sure did make me wonder. Now, in Western Canada you can get some odd town and city names. Like Moose Jaw.  I should look that up out of curiosity and see where it comes from.

6ixStringJack: I can't even imagine the days where you just left a hat somewhere and they named a town after that act. Imagine what you would have to do to get your town to change its name today. And then the chaos that would cause the post office, or anyone doing any sort of business with the town. But it was like, nah... I put my hat down between these trees. | Brenda: I did start thinking about the whys of why not. But I should have added not just arms but legs and chest as well. Facial hair is grown at least now a days. Back when the white man arrived from my understanding is most First Nations men in Canada or the US were clean shaven. Well, I think probably as humans developed some of the hair was left over from the great apes. Then most of it was lost over time. What kind of way is that to live life all the time? Always behaving because even if you're not on camera this second (as far as you're aware) that doesn't mean you won't be 30 seconds from now. I think it all just robs us of our personality over time. No wonder why so many people are just blowing up and doing dumb and even hurtful things to each other. People need release valves. 6ixStringJack: My old man would do it because he didn't like to not have an answer for everything. My grandpa on the other hand got his rocks off of making me think stupid shit when I was too young and dumb to know better. Nothing harmful or anything. Just pranking... and back in his day they didn't worry about things like "developmental years" or what kind of damage people were doing to kids when they said stuff in front of them. I miss those real days. When people were real with themselves and each other. Even if that meant they weren't all on their best behavior most of the time.

6ixStringJack: Makes you think what the reason would be for no arm hair (or in reverse, what would be the reason FOR having arm hair). Hard to imagine in 2025 what it's good for other than collecting debris if you work for a living. I'm sure there's got to have been some benefit both to having it and not having it depending on where you were and what you were doing at the time. Life is crazy. Even the little things can make you think.

Hired Mexicans or did a white actor up with a lot of dark colouring. They way to tell is if they have hair on their arms. Hey, you don't have to tell me about those old photographs. Even my grandfather and that would be my dad's dad looked like that. I have a photo that was taken in photo studio and yes, my grandfather is in a suit and tie, along with my oldest Uncle and my dad. Both sons in as they were called, "knickers" along with white shirts under jackets. Also no smiling. Just the way things were in those days.

I could go to the same place 10 times and still need a GPS to get me there on the 11th time. I think too much, especially when I'm driving and highway hypnosis is a very real thing.
