6ixStringJack: I was just pointing out that I don't believe you can have a good comic book property that anybody cares about if you don't have a good villain in the story. Most Marvel/DC properties struggle with that these days. Jessica Jones was one of the few that really got it right, even among the pre-Disney Netflix days. I mean, I liked Daredevil, and the character himself as well as the cinematography were top-notch, but Vincent Dinorfrio's Kingpin was by far the worst rendition ever. 6ixStringJack: I absolutely had to see the Buffy movie just because of Kristy Swanson. I don't really remember much about it now. I'm sure compared the lore that Joss built up around the show that the movie would come off as pretty dumb to somebody who watched the whole show and liked it. I comment on social media and other places from time to time and I started realizing about 5 years ago that I'm the old dude in the room a lot of the time, and I'm posting among people who on average are anywhere between 10 and 20 years younger than me, depending on where I'm posting and what the topic of the video or article or whatever is. I still feel pretty young here. Out there, among them, I'm getting to be an old dog.

6ixStringJack: You might like Jessica Jones, the Netflix original that came out before Disney bought Marvel and erased it from canon. I don't know though... it might actually be hard to get your hands on that these days unless you pirate it. I wonder if your library would have it? She was a great protagonist, and she had an equal antagonist in Killgrave, who was played by Dr. Who fan favorite, David Tennant.

6ixStringJack: Blade 3 / X-Men 3 and beyond / Spider-Man 3 all came at a time where I was too busy partying and having other fun to really see any movies. I missed a lot of pop culture from movies to shows to games around that time, and didn't bother going back to watch a lot of the stuff (like all 3 of those 3rd entries) that I'd heard wasn't great. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 08.19 10:12

6ixStringJack: I remember seeing Blade 2 in the theater with my brother who was working at the theater at the time, so we watched it for free. Those special effects on the big screen, especially in that beginning 5 or 10 minutes blew my mind at the time. Now THAT is how you open a movie and get people excited for what's to come. Brenda: I never saw the Buffy movie, I thought it looked dumb and that was it. I watched the last season of Buffy because of Adam Baldwin. Duh. That's a no brainer right there. That Joss thing with Doogie Howser was called Doctor Horrible and there was something else in the title. Can't remember now. I watched and even bought a copy. But I have only seen it once. Brenda: I gotcha. Not sure if I've seen anything after the Disney take over. Magneto was and in the comics as well. The only companion X-Man movie I haven't watched was the one where Jean Grey was destroyed and came back as the Dark Phoenix. I never did like Jean Grey.

6ixStringJack: The only Buffy in my eyes is Kristy Swanson. I fell hard for her in Mannequin 2, and she was always Buffy. My brothers watched every episode of the TV show, and I'm sure they watched the spinoff(s) too. So my brother never tried getting me to watch the musical episode of that show since I wouldn't have known pretty much who anybody was going into it. But I remember Joss had a musical series starring the guy who did Doogie Howser where he played a doctor or something and that's what I told him after about 1 minute that there was no way I was making it through the rest of it.

Too much when I was younger. Oh, the Buffy episode was hilarious. Specially with Spike trying to decide if he was going to save Buffy, kill here or kiss her.

6ixStringJack: 5th Element was fun. It's a good watch. They have a GREAT villain in it with Zorg (Gary Oldman). Arguably a much better villain than the rest of the movie probably deserves. This is one of the real problems that Marvel and DC have. Outside of Thanos, Killgrave (from non-Disney Netflix original Jessica Jones season 1) and a few others, their villains suck, so you don't really care. - http://www.fireflyfans.net 08.19 02:57

Brenda: I'm sure they do as Crouching Tiger was the kind of movie that stuck with you. I know I still remember pieces of it. I love Fiddler but can't stand the Sound of Music. Had to sing stuff from it in elementary school and it just bugged me. Too sugary. I've seen Mary Poppins but then I love Dick Van Dyke.

I know I'd seen fiddler at some point when I was a kid. Back when I would have seen things like The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. Long, long time ago. . I accidentally got the commentary on the DVD once. I was trying for one of the other features but the lead actor Topol. He took on the role of Tevye in London on stage and he had no English. 6ixStringJack: I remember Crouching Tiger was a real big deal when it came out. I tend to stay away from the "real big deal" stuff myself. Though I have been known to go back years later and give them a view. It's not a musical at least, right? I can't do musicals. I couldn't even finish the South Park movie because of that.
