Working on a bit of fan-fiction earlier in the week, I suddenly came to realize something of an underlying, mildly visited fact of the Firefly tv series. That fact is that Malcolm Reynolds, character creation of Joss Whedon, is actually not the Captain of Serenity…..Jayne Cobb is!
Watching the show, one can see often times when Jayne refers to Serenity as “his ship”, and even on occasion refers to the Tams as “his crew”.
I know, I know…….. it does seem as though Malcolm is running the show on the little transport, but in reality Jayne is only humoring the ex-browncoat sergeant. It is but a pure fantasy that Mal is in charge of the vessel. My hat is off to Jayne for letting us, as well as the crew of Serenity, and Malcolm himself believe that he is the Captain!
It reminds me of the commercial I’ve seen on tv with Chuck Norris and the WOW universe. Malcolm Reynolds is the commander of Serenity because Jayne Cobb allows him to be!

NBC cancels 'The Playboy Club'

Just updating my profile here. I’m Bruce Pluto, also known as Zzetta13 on this and other web sites. I just wanted to say that I am basically new to writing fan fiction and I am enjoying the hell out of it. Not to say that I’m any good, but it does give me a chance to get away from the stresses and aggravation of those little things that go on in everyone’s lives. It gives me a chance at being a little creative. I also enjoy doing a little artwork if I have the time. Many of the drawings and paintings I do have space themes.
I’m an avid science fiction fan. Been that way since the time of Star Trek when I was around 12. Anyway, I don’t take myself very serious and I hope people see the humor in my posts most of the time. I’m a southern boy, born and raise in southeast Texas, only a stones throw from Louisiana. If you get a chance to see “ Tucker & Dale” I guess I’m a lot like Tucker.
So, there you have it. I enjoy communicating with people, and I try to keep an open mind. I have a good job and I just got my oldest son hired on. If Summer Glau is looking for a really good b/f then I recommend Bryan. He’d be perfect for you ( smile here)
