"The USA" isn't spending that money on account of Russia. The crooked politicians who all get rich once they get into office are siphoning off money from the American People and pocketing some of it while enriching the ever-growing war-machine.
And none of them give a single fuck about Ukraine or the Ukrainians either.
I might not give a shit about them, but I don't want to see them die, nor am I making a huge profit off of sending 2 generations of Ukrainian men marching toward their deaths.

The latest broadcast of The Evening With Vladimir Solovyov featured multiple clips of Carlson’s predictions, including his claim that the U.S. government is getting ready to go to war with Russia — a war he implied the U.S. would lose.
In a series of clips selected for Solovyov’s program, Carlson accused both Congressional Republicans and Democrats of being “insane” and hysterical, predicting that a war between the U.S. and Russia would start next year.
Solovyov theatrically asked, “Who says that? A dead man walking! He sincerely believes that the next step after the accusations and the declaration of impeachment will be an assassination of Trump. But this man, who is currently the most popular English-speaking journalist, signed his own death warrant!”
During his evening show, Solovyov predicted dire consequences that would follow Carlson’s persistent attempts to score a sit-down with the Russian president: “I can’t rule out that in the near future, as he is leaving Europe, there will either be an air crash or something will happen to the car in which he will be traveling, or he might eat something that he shouldn’t, maybe his heart will suddenly stop! If I were in his place, I would tell no one of my travel routes.”
The warnings sounded like something that might have been useful to someone like Prigozhin or numerous people who found themselves on the wrong side of Putin and ended up paying the ultimate price. Perhaps they were also useful in attempting to persuade the domestic audiences that Russia is not the only place in turmoil and political assassinations are quite common all over the globe.
Ratcheting up the conspiratorial mood permeating the studio, Solovyov expressly agreed with Carlson’s outlandish predictions of the impending Armageddon. He pontificated, “We are on the verge of a global hot war! It’s unavoidable because it benefits everyone!”
He dramatically added, “These are the end times! We should realize this.”

Oh, but you forgot the best part, SECOND.
It was the USA that developed the atom bomb first, the USA (and only the USA) that used the atom bomb first- twice(!), developed the hydrogen bomb first, and the USA that has pulled out of most nuclear arms treaties with Russia.
Everything that USSR/Russia has done since WWII is a RESPONSE to everything we've done.
The person who's paranoid is you. If we stopped attacking Russia, they could stop defending themselves. Altho, by now, they know our permanent state is crazy and dishonest (yanno, like you) and is dedicated to their destruction, so at this point they have no interest in talking to anyone in DC: Democrat, Republican, elected official, permanent staff, security or military ... pretty much a bag of nuts and morons.
BTW SIX: Russia's threats AREN'T empty. But their threats are also measured. They have not committed to "no first use". Nuclear weapons are on the table, but also a last reort.
Given that our administrations are mostly nuts, incompetent, or corrupt (or all three!) from the top down through the first four or five layers, I don't know if they have a rational thought in their heads. I wouldn't count on sane policies from most of them.
