I reealize that what I'm about to post isn't about trangenderism per se but ... even the Chinese army command is worried about the feminization of males in China. Low physical fitness, low desire to compete, low desire to take risks makes them unfit for military service.
Part of that may come from the "Little emperor" problem that developed under China's one-child policy. Male children (many females were aborted, reportedly) were doted on by both parents and all four grandparents.
But we see this in the EU and USA as well.
Possibly it's a cultural shift related to fewer children. Busy parents, too much screen time and not enough roughhousing when young may inhibit muscular growth, which may inhibit testosterone production... which inhibits muscular growth. Supposedly testosterone levels are influenced by a lot of things, including where a male believes he is in the hierarchy.
It could be that the cultures that worshipped androgenous gods had become so centralized and required little physical labor from a number of its males that the cultures produced their own version of metrosexuals.
Anyway, just a random thought.

I realize the internet has made the Swimsuit Issue a redundancy, but back when I was a kid the Swimsuit Issue was like a second Christmas for boys.

Since for 99% of the people who ever serve these days the job is as dangerous as working inside of a post office, it wouldn't surprise me if they've started doing whatever they can to make it a 50/50 split in the name of "fairness".
