The Alliance Spins, Part 5

In addition to housing ships, Harvey’s Shiny Shipyards was also a vendor of scrap metal. Scrap metal sales was really a charitable term to describe the mounds and mounds of junk that littered the Yard. Looking over the landscape, one with an artistic eye may appreciate the trichotomy of gray metal against the brown of mud puddles and the green of the mass of wild shrubbery surrounding the compound. Of course, anyone with an appreciation for the gray-brown-green look would be hard pressed to find beauty in what passed for a workshop. Situated in the middle of the compound, the shop was a few slats of flat tin propped up on four metal poles. The biggest eyesore in the place had to be Harvey’s living quarters. Parked to the side of the workshop was the remains of a ’52 Winnie Huxter that he had hack sawed up but never quite welded together to form an actual domicile. He was lucky this part of Persephone was of a temperate climate but on rainy days it was necessary to throw an old tarp over the top t

I have to say that my ignorance about cats and poison ivy knows no bounds. So, if there are any glaring problems with these aspects of my fic, please let me know.

Or, we could just say that the differences in feline behavior or plant attributes are a result of terraforming, evolution, or some other form of sci-fi science that I am too limited to make up!

Pretty good chapter, the only problem with the cat scene was the soap used. I mean i am sure you could clean a cat with it, but I doubt it would be good for the cat with all the harsh chemicals cause they lick their fur.

You probably could have gone for more believability with a small dog. Washing a stray cat would be - apocalyptic - especially a fat one with loose skin that he could twist in and launch a counterattack. And it takes a few hours to break out from poison ivy. Lots of personal experience there!

Loved your Miranda cover up angle. Great way to still pin the blame on those pesky Browncoats.

building nicely (as jane says) also i liked how you handled the gear shift from domestic to threatening. most of all, i like the pacing - no haste here and all the better for it:)

River slipping, I think that may continue to be a roadblock for Simon and Kaylee. If not River, it will be someone or something else.

And, your Alliance spin sets this story up for many scenarios and possibilities.

This is an interesting time period you write in, as Joss says on the CE, there is about a month in there. Nice job exploring the possibilities.
