Summary: Post BDM. Rayne and Saylee. Takes place one year after The Need. As Simon and Kaylee are having troubles. River and Jayne deepen their relationship.
Author's note: I'm leaving on a jet plane, LOL! I won't be posting updates until the weekend I hope this tides you guys over. Hugs and Kisses to all. Thanks for the feedback it really keeps me dedicated.
Chapter 4-- I'll Tell You No Lies
Inara fixed a tray of food for Saffron, completely with strawberry shortcake. She picked up the tray and walk to the kitchen door. Zoe rose an eyebrow as Inara headed towards Saffron's bunk.
"Is that a good idea?" Mal said to Zoe.
"I'm not sure,Sir," they gave each other a wary look.
Inara went into Saffron's bunk with the food quietly. When she saw Saffron wasn't in her bed, Inara looked around the room and found Saffron sitting on the floor in the corner facing the wall. She was whispering something to herself and she had obviously been crying. Inara's heartbroke for her, she was obviously a damaged individual, but she steeled herself against comforting her. Giving Saffron any kind of outward sympathy was a mistake.
"I brought you food," Inara placed the tray on her bed.
"Thank you," Saffron said and didn't move, she just remained in the corner.
"Mal told me you came out of your bunk today," Inara said and Saffron nodded.
"I was hungry, I had melon and apples," she said.
"I'm sorry for that, Zoe and I was preparing something for Jayne and River, we forgot you were down here," Inara apologized, she should have taken better care of Saffron even though she didn't like or trust her, she didn't want her risking her baby by climbing up and down the stairs because she was hungry in the afternoon.
"It's okay," Saffron said, distantly.

But this was great - and I think it's cool that River knows she and Jayne made a baby. Yay!
Just a question. Did Mal and Inara make a baby too?
Holy....crap! That was just all kinds of freaking hot and worthy of the following:

Much as I have the odd problem picturing River and Inara getting...vocal...when it the midst of lovemaking (working off of their behaviours/personalities from the series and movie for visual imaging), you did a great job with the individiaul smut scenes.
Saffron's story though....her comment from a couple of chapters ago about trying to snag Simon as baby's new daddy has coloured my interpretation about what she told Mal. The story is plausible, based on what we have seen of Saffron and know of her past exploits...but what happened to Josh smells kind of fishy.
