Hunkering down
Monday, 01 September 2008 03:34:54

Well Here we go again. I can not believe that this is going to be our 3 major hurricane in 4 years. My thoughts and prayers go out to those in LA and MS. We have our flashlights and candles at the ready. The cars are pulled as close to the house as I could get them. Water and bread and peanut butter wait us in the kitchen. The storm is getting closer, the cats are freaking out and I have a pressure headache! See you all on the flipside!

One Year In The 'Verse...
Monday, 01 September 2008 06:31:35

Ni hao everybody! I've been out of the world for a spell, and thought I should come back to this wonderful place. Now, on to the log. Its been exactly one year since I've started watching Firefly. It has really gone by fast, but I have had a shiny time. I can't even count the times I've watched the series. I wasn't in when it was originally broadcast, but I miss it. It being my original broadcast. Getting to explore these characters and this 'verse Joss Whedon created. I miss that sense of adventure. So now on to the how to make it better. I have now started to watch Buffy. Its great to explore and delve into another of Joss' masterpieces. And now in addition to being a Browncoat, I am a full fledged Whedonite being as I love two of his shows. This past year I have found so much good in people because of this site. I found that there are places where virtually everyone likes you. The places are the 'verse and FFFN (thank you Haken) and the people are Browncoats. Xie xie, --CTMS

Firefly and School
Monday, 01 September 2008 09:04:04

Three blog entries already? Is that too much? Dunno but it's fun! Even though I'm an achiever at school, doing best at English and S&E, I've just been told by my form teacher I've missed too many days of school. I'm in year 10, so when she said If I can't improve I'll be kept down, I got a mite worried. For year 11 I'm going to another town like everyone else (no year 11/12 in my town) so I don't want to stay. That means less being sick (I can't help being unwell!!) and more school. You'd think, getting awards and doing my work well, that I'd like school. But I don't. It's boring, my town has hardly any sensible people my age in it...well I won't make an attempt to depress you. Anyway, now I have the internet I can at least make half my life enjoyable! So I'm gonna throw myself into Firefly online! Blogs, posts, fanfic, rps...etc. I've just been accepted as Simon on a Firefly RP at

My Firefly Fandom
Tuesday, 02 September 2008 11:54:00

Okay I got a boat load things to do today, so I'll be brief. I'm a HUGE Firefly/Serenity fan...I think mainly for the fact that the show and movie offered a "closer to life" view of a very probable future. The characters are real, and very affected b the 'verse they live. which to me is THE best example of story-telling. Few other shows follows these parameters, especially in sci-fi. Shows such as B5, Space, Above & Beyond, and Farscape. and even though it was tv show, as far as "important sci-fi" goes, it's up there with Blade Runner for me. My fave episode is "Out of Gas" being the owner of a highly dependable, but somewhat "lived-in" Firefly of my own...a little 17 yr old basic Honda Civic HB named "Stitch". I completely relate to Mal's reaction to when he first saw Serenity. I've watched that episode more than any other in the box set, lol! Well, anyways that's my terribly short tale of my place in the Firefly 'verse. Now if you'll pardon me, I gotta go pack for a week at the beach.

Wustave
Wednesday, 03 September 2008 04:06:30

Yeah he is a wuss! Thank mother nature. Course since my life is shit, I spent $900 bucks on borrowed boys vehicle today and it isnt even wustave related! thanks to all for the lovely thoughts and prayers!

Firefly Rules...
Wednesday, 03 September 2008 06:33:20

Over the last 2 days I watched Firefly the Series and Serenity... AGAIN... It needs to be seen every so often just to get that tremendous feeling like seeing it for the first time. Always seems like every wonderful show I like never makes the cut. Guess I'm just smarter than the average tv exec with their finger on the button, so to speak...

Chapter 14 of Trials and Redemptions - Posted!
Wednesday, 03 September 2008 07:31:30

Hi everyone! Real life reared its ugly head, and then I got stuck about halfway through the chapter, not sure how I was going to connect to the beginning of 15... However, I think I've work that out now, so here's a brand new chapter, and a lengthy one at that! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I need comments to know what's good and what isn't! As long as it's constructive, I don't care if it's positive, negative, or indifferent. I just need feedback! Hopefully Chapter 15 will be done shortly!

Look at what the tv guide had to say about Firefly
Wednesday, 03 September 2008 17:30:09

Hi there, Now I tend not to listen to anything the Daily Mail has to say. It's far too right wing for my liking but I did have to jump for joy when I saw a review for Firefly in the weekend TV guide.

Still In The Buzzness.
Thursday, 04 September 2008 15:44:32

Just some more photographic shit from myself. Notably, two similar shots from a public park. I snapped these this morning. If you wish to leave a comment, I do read them and appreciate people's thoughts. STILL IN THE BUZZNESS.

You can not make this shit up
Saturday, 06 September 2008 01:42:00

So last we spoke I had mentioned that the kids car has cost mucho dinero. Well home I rushed last sunday to prepare for Gustave and found that my kitchen sink was stopped up. SecondDad tried to clear it out with some vile smelling stuff (that lingers yet) to no avail, so he called someone over to check out the grease trap - which they discovered after much digging that I do not have. Another plumber was called and an appointment made for this am. I get home last night to discover that I have (still) no kitchen sink and NO INTERNET or TV. Coinkidink? I think not. Anyway, all is solved now.......but I suspect I was hitler in another life cause this shit is ridiculous!

I'm a Browncoat!! :)
Saturday, 06 September 2008 05:45:20

I'd say I'm an active Firefly fan now! Blogging, threading/posting, RPing, it's great to be involved in so many ways! I've just been accepted into 2 RPs- both as Simon! Of the canon characters I'd be most like Simon, so I was lucky his part was available on both of the RPs. Now I've started posting as him on one, while I catch up with all the backstory on the other. The second one is a Browncoats RP, it says. So that, I think, is my confirmation that now I'm a browncoat! The RPing is great, especially as it's a fun and creative way to be active with other Firefly fans. It's great to see how active people are on this site. Two of the threads I posted received lots of posts and feedback. While the chat room is usually empty, the threads section is very shiny! Having only just got the internet two weeks ago, I've found lots of things to enjoy on the net. Firefly has become my fave attraction, and I'm really enjoying all the fan sites like this. It'll be good to find fan sites for other things I like too, like Kingdom Hearts. Anyhow, that's all for now... Keep Writing, Keep Flying

Gone again...
Saturday, 06 September 2008 05:45:37

My issues stem from the fact that my friend and I are finishing a novel. It's almost done and it's taking most of my creative juices. I occasionally... Well, quite frequently write other fan fic with my friend and we've been stuck on that. So, if you give a rat's toosh about what happens next, I'm sorry, but it might be a while. So,to re-cap, novel, GH fan fic, brain drain, 5 yr old in school(crazy monster), medical condition (Not too serious, makes me tired) and dormant Firefly muse are keeping me from accomplishing anything 'Capacity' related. Thanks to all you wonderful folks and I'll try to work it out as soon as humanly possible. Luvins, Joanna :banghead:

Firefly LARP (at Dragon*Con)
Sunday, 07 September 2008 19:55:39

Hello people of the 'verse. Quick, question for you all that attended D*C this year. Did anyone go to the Firefly LARP at the Hilton? I got invited and even walked over there one evening, but then chickened out. (I know, I'm a bad Browncoat!) I wish I would have at least tried to play now. Also, I wanted to apologize to the very nice man (Kevin, if I recall correctly) from the food court who told me all about it. Sorry. Maybe next year?!

Nathan and Alan Dragon Con QUESTION!!!
Sunday, 07 September 2008 23:23:32

Does anyone know what podcast Alan and Nathan's panel was being broadcasted to that they kept whispering comments into the phone for? I saw a video on youtube of the first 9 minutes and they didn't say which one it was for...

Browncoat at the L.A. County Fair
Monday, 08 September 2008 22:06:59

Hey all... Started working our Islamic Books & Free Info booth at the L.A. County Fair in Pomona on Sept. 5. I brought along my BDP's (Big Bamn Perfumes) of our BDHs -- my "Scents of Serenity" Perfume oils [end of shameless plug] -- so if you're planning on going to the Fair it runs Wed-Sun until Sept. 28. I'm in Building 9, space 9131. I'm usually there from the morning to aroud 5:30pm, but I expect to be working the whole day and night shifts a lot, so stop by and say ni haody, and sample some of the "Scents of Serenity" (also will have on hand all the other oils I carry)... Stay Shiny & Keep Flyin'.

Ouch
Monday, 08 September 2008 23:53:12

So there I am last Wednesday, minding my own business, going about my job and generally exisiting. I go into the storage room to get something and see that some idiot has put heavy boxes of industrial trash bags on top of a box of paper towels on top of the shelf. Just as I am thinking to myself that it would hurt someone when it fell THE FUCKING THING FELL ON MY HEAD! So now I have a freaking concussion, whip lash injury and have to have an MRI. I have also been sporting a lovely neck brace thingy all week, it is not lovely. Apparently the damn box weighs more than 9 pounds. But I got me some good drugs!

The Lost has Return

Inspired 2
Wednesday, 10 September 2008 18:38:52

I know that I wrote that I was inspired to continue my little series of Firefly but stuff happened. I am glad to tell you that I am working on it right now...well, obviously not right now... but when I'm finish here I will go back to working on it. I hope you enjoy it and leave feedback. It's just a series I came up with and is just all my imagination of how I think things might have gone after "Serenity".

From Wash to Walsh
Wednesday, 10 September 2008 21:49:54

Howdy browncoat brother and sisters, I’ve got a few days off so I’ve decided to do a little updating on the site here. I’ve started a new Fanfic story, “ The Promise”, up to part 3 now. My Stories are pretty much bloodless, don’t know if that’s good or bad, just how I write ‘em that’s all. I hope I do get a little humor injected into them though. I sure do like to laugh. Anyhoo, spent so time in Houston Tx, Tuesday night. Went and saw a favorite band of mine, “The Eagles” I can’t tell you how great they were. Came out at the beginning on stage dressed up in black suits and ties. I told the wife that they looked like undertakers……lol . Joe Walsh is an absolute brilliant guitarist. It was really his night to shine. The whole band was fabulous, Frye, Henley, Timothy B. and everybody. We had a great time even though the past couple of weeks we’ve been constantly threatened by hurricanes. We’ve been lucky and blessed though and they’ve missed us. My thoughts do go out to the folk that haven’t been so lucky though. Hoping the best for you. Peace out, Z

ARGH!!!!
Thursday, 11 September 2008 19:54:20

My internet has died...I don't know when it will start working again...and I'm really pissed and sad...:( I might get on my sister's comp now and then but I don't think I'll be around very often. I'm so mad!!!!

RPing.....Keeping Firefly Going
Saturday, 13 September 2008 07:24:47

I asked myself the other day, what am I doing for Firefly? How am I doing my part to keep it alive? I'd say my best effort at the moment is Rping. It's great! I'd never heard of online Rping before, and only discovered thanks to this site. It's amazing that people can keep Serenity's stroy going strong, filling the shoes of the characters and taking full control of what happens. It's enjoyable, because it combines the internet, creative writing, and Firefly. Here's the RP site I'm on:

It's two years since I joined. Just thought I'd share that with you all

Hello from Dallas, Texas
Monday, 15 September 2008 13:52:03

Hello fellow Browncoats, Going to do another update because I’m not sure when I’ll be back> My estimation that hurricane Ike would take on a more westerly course was premature. Ike came in at Galveston and Houston and surrounding areas that encompassed my little town. We were told to evacuate and we did. I’m sending this log from my brother’s house in Dallas, Tx. I have talked to friends that have stayed and weathered the storm and they tell me that our home came through without much damage, TGFT. Anyway, some good news. Last Christmas my brother told me that he had bought the Firefly series because I had told him how good it was a few weeks before at our sisters house. While up here staying with him and his family I asked him if he’d had a chance to watch it. “ Have I watched it? Three or four times each!” He told me. “It’s fantastic!” I was rather pleased. He also told me that he has gotten several of his neighbors to watch the show. They all really enjoyed it and want to see more. My brother also asked me about our BDM. “ I heard there was a movie made, but I can’t find it.” I think he was looking for “ Firefly: The Movie” course we know there ain’t one. I told him the movies name was Serenity. We went out and bought the BDM and watched it Sunday night. The trip has turned out better that I expected. Today Monday, we are headed back home and will get our first look at anything that’s gotta be done. There’s no electrical power as of yet and no water but we’ll tuff it out. Hold the line fellow coats. Keep adding to FF/Serenity’s rolecall. Even in a bad situation there can be some good. Z, out

The Return
Wednesday, 17 September 2008 12:23:04

Hello browncoats! I just came from a trip to Germany - my paradise!! It was really nice to see how other people live in other countries. You don't need to ask... I talked a lot about Serenity and Firefly there and some of them were really interested when I showed them the DVDs. Of coures, they didn't know of it before because Firefly is not so popular here in Europe :( but they'll buy the DVDs and show them to their friends - I took off with a happy smile on my face that day *winks* Now that I'm back, I'll start posting the sequel I promised you, I hope you enjoy it =) Kim

Transformers fans stick it to The Man
Wednesday, 17 September 2008 23:57:57

So, anybody use Wikia? If so, you've probably noticed the outright deceitful ownership tactics, the ever-increasing adds, and the general Alliance-like behaviour. Well, we Transfans have had enough, and in true Browncoat fashion, we. . . have run away. The old Teletraan-1 wiki has now been abandoned (Wikia won't let us delete it, but the only people left there are the trolls, the humourless, and the walking unbanned). The official Transformers Wiki has moved to

Question for the 'Guns' crew.
Thursday, 18 September 2008 03:35:14

'The Guns of Yamenmiao' is two posts from being finished, but it's not quite over (even if you're ready for it to be). As I await PhyreLight's beta-reply on Part 16 and proceed with the epilogue, I'm also working on....yes, I'm actually going to say it....special features. Deleted and extended scenes are a given, but I'd like to ask something of any and all who are reading, whether or not you're a regular commenter. What else would you like to see in the special features? Think of something and please, please, don't hesitate to get back to me on it. Stick around, friends. Part 16 should be up very soon and the epilogue not far behind!

The King of all Grains!
Thursday, 18 September 2008 13:27:52

Just spell-checking my 'about me' bit, and the word 'spelt' looked weird. Now, I know it is..spelt..like that. Oh god. Hmm. Anyway, it looked weird because I've recently started eating lushious wholemeal bread, often made with, you guessed it, SPELT! For more on this uber-oat, see...

Allanverse on hold?
Thursday, 18 September 2008 14:08:10

I may be taking a bit of a sabbatical. My girlfriend Rose is currently in the hospital with a possible tumor behind one eye. I don't have much time or really any enthusiasm for writing fan fic at the moment. I apologize to all my readers and I do promise to continue Big Blue as soon as I can. Thanks for all the support and praise you all have given my storyline and I'll keep you all updated as much as I can. Thanks, Brian

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Friday, 19 September 2008 23:40:32

I was browsing fireflyfans.net when my boyfriend put in my Firefly DVDs. He asked me if Nathan Fillion was going to be in anything new. So, obviously I imdb.com-ed him and found Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Honestly, I didn't know what to think at first. But, after I watched the whole thing, I was TOTALLY in love! I have a passion for musicals anyway, but this was just awesome. It reminded me of Once More with Feeling[i/] the Buffy episode. Joss Whedon sure is amazing.

I am now posting more stuff. Sorry. Get used to it.
Saturday, 20 September 2008 04:54:24

I am here. Now. I have arrived my little Browncoat Bitches. I have a rough and sardonic sense of humor. My words can be soft and compassionate, and can also cut like knives. No one is safe, becasue in the temple of satire, there are NO sacred cows. I am out. I am a heterosexual, and I am out!!! I love FF/S. Hide your women. It is ruttin' time.

Can't get Youtube to change from simplified Chinese!
Saturday, 20 September 2008 13:47:30

As the title says, I need youtube to be in english, not chinese, and it's not letting me do that! I have no idea how it got that way or how to change it back!! disreguard this blog, i got youtube to change.

Jayne Fics
Sunday, 21 September 2008 03:38:47

You know, I have loved this site for sooo long. It's sad that it's taken me this long to break into this 'verse. I love it. You can tell the real hardcore Firefly fans that keep writing for us romantics. Lately. I've been partial the Rayne fics. Actually, anything where you see this big hunk of merc soften up, is something that I'd totally love. *Sigh* I love fanfics. They make the impossible possible!

Monday, 22 September 2008 16:09:44

There's a short story I wrote for a Creative Writing class that I am sorely tempted to post here. It's not about the Firefly 'verse as such, but it was certainly inspired by it more than a little. If people would like to read it, I might run it as a blog ... Let me know!

My hope is to have 51 posted by Weds. I am slowly climbing to the end of this fanfic and then have a few short stories here and there before starting another BIG story line. I have enjoyed this romp though and still am and am glad to be part of your lives both in reading what you have and having you all comment on what I have shared. Thnks again....

A slight elaboration and До свидания!
Thursday, 25 September 2008 05:41:11

The point of my last post is that Germany unlike most of Western Europe have had no history with real representative democracy. Said point was made by my dad's BC back in Germany during the '80s are a response to the idea that the US was there to simply deter the Soviets. Enough with that bullocks. I'm going out into the black. I found Firefly and I loved it. I missed the good fight and nearly three years later exactly I have no hope in a real continuation of the story. I never was one for sci-fi convention crowds and I feel a lot like an outsider in the Firefly ranks. Just not my style; I'm more of a history nerd and I like my corner of that world. In that corner I'm content to dig my heels in and sit alone. Politically I've sat and watched Browncoats argue and I hate Internet politics, but sometimes you got to fight fire with fire. The plithy anti-Americanism is old and I'm not leaving without my parting shot at it. So Godspeed. Keep trying to do the impossible, I hope you can. Unfortunately I'm turning in my arms and taking parole. Maybe next time I'll break rather then bend.

Just Gonna Try and Sneak Back In...
Thursday, 25 September 2008 06:45:49

Ummm, so, yeah. Sorry that I disappeared there. I'm not expecting open arms coming back into this, but gun barrels wouldn't surprise me. Lol. Well I'll meet up with you again, somewhere along the lines of Bo's new crew. Yeah, he's alive, you don't think a little planet sized explosion was gonna get rid of our friend there did you?:naughty:

One year.

Friday, 26 September 2008 04:31:38

I won a book on a blog site I really like called The Christian Manifesto" and it was a book I had really been looking forward to. So, why did I win? You ask. Because at the end of my emails I have the quote..."You don't fix faith, River. It fixes you." And that was the reason i WON. They loved my quote. LOL!!!

I"m leaving for England on the 29th
Saturday, 27 September 2008 00:07:45

I will be in London England on the 29th until the 8th. I do have a lot planned, but was wondering if there are any British Browncoats who can suggest something that I must do when I am in London. It could be just something simple. I just love to do something that guid books know nothing about. Thanks

Feedback
Saturday, 27 September 2008 17:39:32

I uploaded a new fanfic but there has been no comments left. Please can you leave feedback for my stories. I want to know if you liked it or just to know your constructive criticism. Emphasis on constructive. Just wanted to write that down, so that I could see if the fanfic is liked or not. I don't know why, but it's nice to get the input. I'm hungry right now so I'm off. I hope to add another fanfic soon.

Well, my parent's lied to me...Gee, what a shocker!
Saturday, 27 September 2008 19:21:58

They tell my they're going to stop getting on my case about exercizing after work and allow me to do it on my own time. Now I admit I need to do it more often, but pushing me into it just makes me shut down and NOT want to listen to them. So, WHY would they then turn around the next week and try to push me when I've told them it doesn't work? In my defense,I have gone biking and I have exercised a hell of a lot more often then I used to. Any parents want to chime in on the whole pushing kids enough to make them shut down thing?
