I saw the recent post in images for the Firely/Serenity 'Verse and decided to make my own. Literally my own. Let me know what you think.

Onto the log. The commentary on the SE Serinity disc had something on it that if you've listened to, you laugh about then let it past, but deep down it eats away at you. This would be that if the show had continued, that Joss was planning on killing Mal eventually. What would have we done? The death of Wash was heart wrenching, but it was artistic and able to be done for a movie. But in a series, would have we been able to handle the death of Mal? Would we have protested? I personally would have bawled and then have go watch Our Mrs. Reynolds. If Mal had died, who would be captain? Jayne? Kaylee? But besides the what ifs for plot wise, the deeper question is would the show have been Firefly without Mal? The character brings such the feeling of power, yet gentleness, the feeling of a a man greatly troubled, yet one who had everything he wanted. I personally think it would be different, and it rightfully should. Mal is the father in the family. It would be like losing a father. I actually get a little sad thinking about it. So today's was one of sadness, brought on by commentary. So hope you didn't cry too much. Xie xie, --CTMS

It's been almost a year since I first joined this site and I sure have learned a lot in this time. Like, don't flood the BSR, and give comments and you shall receive comments. Also, don't start a fanfic unless you are going to finish it, no matter how good or bad it turns out. But most of all, I discovered a lot of very shiny people out there with similar tastes who really, really like something and want to see it continue. I've been a sci/fi fan since I first saw Star Trek more than thirty years ago but I've never been this taken with any science fiction, with the exception of my Robotech phase in university. I still have all the Robotech vidoes, comics, RPGs, everything. But I've never seen the dedication to something that was so brief yet left its mark on all of us. Here's to all of you out there in the Firefly verse who are still flying the skies keeping the signal strong. It's been a great year.

It was originally a colony for those who didn't quite fit into the clean and tidy world of the Core. Nothing as crude as a prison colony, just...a world that was a bit more difficult to leave than some. The folk here are a bit more individual in their outlook, tend to think that a Dyton man's home is his castle. It rains a lot. And considering the age of the colony, the style of the architecture is similar to Londinium, but not as well maintained. The word 'Dickensian' might flit through an onlooker's mind, should he be acquainted with that very old literature. However, standing to admire the view would not be recommended. One of the locals is likely to either pick your pocket, or dispense with subtlety and simply mug you. Or, even more worryingly, they will try to sell you street food. Yeah - an Englishman's home is his castle? Also, the 'rains a lot' bit. Some of the dodgier areas of Outer, particularly East, London still have the remains of some beautiful old buildings. Mostly they are now given over to flats, turned into shops, basically recycled. I'm thinking of wet stone, iron railings with the paint peeling off, blistered doors and dirty windows. Lots of narrow streets and courtyards, quite probably with washing strung across. Limehouse in the age of Dickens had a large Chinese population, mainly running opium dens for the sailors. So...dark cellars filled with dreams. And the street food - dodgy kebabs, deep-fried anything (fish for preference) and possibly jellied eels. (you need a lot of vinegar.) Badger is at home in that little warren of rooms on Persephone. Everyone lives up close and personal, but you always have your own front door.

Well we got a new pet a few days ago, it a goat. Her name is Daisy (My wife picked it)and many of you are wondering why a goat ? Why not. I have been trying lead break her, so that when we take the dogs for a walk, Daisy can walk too. So far, Daisy is doing okay as long as you do not run out of treats for her. Outside of that not much else is going on, also i want to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth.

Last week I had to buy my 3rd copy of Firefly and Serenity. I started to loan them out after having them for less than one year, and they are now making the rounds to my whole group of friends. I know it's all for the good, but I miss them like they are my own babies. So I do believe that I am going to purchase firefly as gifts this holiday season for all my friends and family, not a new idea but it must be done. I know that Target had them for $17.99 on sale a few weeks ago,if anyone sees the on sale elsewhere could you let me know I will need quite a few. Thanks to All...

I have returned from my Educational/Cultural exchange trip to China. Our group was able to visit four new schools in rural China along the Yangtze River and raise funds that will directly go to students for supplies and programs. Yeah! China proved to be a beautiful engrossing country filled with warm and genuinely friendly people. The dragon has definitely awoken as they prepare for their August Olympic debut. And on a personal note, I worked with a Tai Chi Master and passed a test and received a certificate of completion for the first 6 movements. And my hubby met Condoleezza Rice in our hotel lobby, where he went for a cold beer, as we were staying at the same hotel in Beijing. She was there for photos at the quake site. Anyway, it's good to be home after traveling so far away. I missed my own kids and my kitties and my house, but I made new friends that made the journey worthwhile. I won't forget them and plan on returning one day. 08/08/08 at 8:08 watch them!

To all those who acknowlage my humble presence... I finished my annual exams(last set of exams of the year) which were the reason why I didn't have enough time to come here. I have 3 months to relax and enjoy this summer, now that I'm back, I'm also working on the 'because he loved her' series which will surely be completley posted by the end of August. The holidays also gave me the time to think a lot about it... I know that thus far it's been sad but let me tell you it's gonna get pretty interesting as we go along - I can't say anymore or desertgirl - who I'd like to thank immensley for sticking with me - might send space monkeys to me so...uh... I'm depressed. Plain and simple. I don't know whats wrong with me. I don't do anything that used to make me happy, like draw and write. I never feel any creative urges. I don't even listen to music as much anymore. I feel utterly discontent. I'm either pissed off or sad,those are my two feelings now-a-days. I seem to only look forward to sleeping and sometimes wish I would never wake up from my dreams. Along with all that, I've been getting a LOT of headaches. I want to apologize to everyone for no young Mal fan fic lately. My muse is very active in my head, but I can't seem to will my fingers to type the stories. I have lots of notes around my laptop but translating the notes to a finished story is impossible. Real life is also kicking me in the pi gu. Things have been crazy here for more than six months. My mother died in late May after a very long illness and I am executor of her estate. It's been an education in legalities and tons of paperwork. I think the Alliance has a hand in this. Add to that a very much needed stay 'cation the last week of June. And my daughter's 19th birthday on the 4th of July. (eeeeekkkk! I'm the mother of a second year college student in August!) I hope to be back writing soon. Mal and his Ma won't leave me alone forever.

Frequently I read viewer comments on the Serenity movie to the effect that Simon's character is incongruous between the show and the film version. They specifically cite the opening scene where Simon rescues River from the researchers. The complaints usually run something like this: "Wait a minute. I thought the original(and more plausible) story was that Simon paid a bunch of guys in the blackout zone to get River out and then made his way to the Eavesdown Docks and met up with Mal & Co. He could never pull something like that off in person. I mean, look at how bad he is when they go to Jaynestown and he has to pretend that he's a buyer. Impersonating an Alliance inspector? No way. He's totally out of his depth. That scene was just to amp it up post-series for the movie, awesome as it was." To those persons I would say: Think on this--maybe on a border moon, Simon is out of his depth. I completely agree. Most of the time he is at a total loss in those other worlds. But they weren't holding River on the Rim, were they? Simon has lived his whole life up until now as a 'rich Capital-City-Boy' sort of guy. His family position and more importantly his profession both allow for all sorts of information. He knows the system inside out and upside down. It's more than enough proof to believe the rescue. Consider: In "Ariel", Simon showcases not only thorough knowledge of the Alliance medical system but that he also has the makings of a criminal mastermind. Without Jayne, the whole thing would have been hitch-free. [there is also the possibility that it was hitch-free BECAUSE of Jayne for the reason that security was not deployed so that the alliance could trade merchandise for fugitives, but...it was a good plan anyway.] In "Safe", Simon seems to be galvanized into action and authority by his position as doctor,(as in other situations) and when it coalesceses with wanting to protect his sister, it seems like he just might be burned alive along with her. That all seems to me be guts and brains enough to sneak into top secret Alliance testing facilities posing as an eensy Alliance inspector. Simon may be awkward around the crew because of their differing views, backgrounds and positions, but he's not as simple as most make out. Even if he does wear rosy glasses sometimes. :)

OK... Been a LONG while since I posted. Married life takes a LOT of time. But on to the topic... I was at Target a few days back and I always check to see how much Firefly is going for. Usually it's $24.95, sometimes $39.99. So there it sits, only one left... for a mere $17.99. So I pick it up and then I stop. Am I just being selfish cuz I don't have the boxset cuz I gave my set to my stepson? I mean, I DO have every ep downloaded on my PC -- some eps with Spanish subtitles even. So it's not like I can't watch it anytime I want. But then I thought: this is the last boxset -- if I take it, what if there's someone out there who's never seen Firefly and that $17.99 pricetag might be the thing that gets a newbie convert to the 'Verse cuz they'll plunk down $18 in cashy money rather than the usual $40. So there you have it. My sacrifice for the cause was NOT buying the holiest of holies in our 'Verse. May that boxset find a good home in the heart of a potential Browncoat. Amen.

Well our new pet goat, Daisy, is getting along with with our two dogs, Ci-Ci and Denver. I think the dogs believe that Daisy is just a funny looking dog. Today I watched as Daisy played with Ci-Ci, the border collie. They both chased each other around the yard, it was funny to watch them. That is all for now.

Good afternoon fellow browncoats Just felt like updating my log here because I’ve just watched an uplifting little dvd comedy. It was called “Drillbit Taylor” and stars Owen Wilson as a down and out homeless freeloader trying to get a few hundred bucks so that he can make his way outta town. I normally don’t pick up and watch random comedies and I didn’t this time either. It was my older son’s idea and I thought spending some quality tv watching time with him would be good for both of us. As it turned out it was very good. As the story goes, 3 young boys are starting high school and are constantly being threatened and beat up by the high school bullies. They begin a search to find someone and with payment use them as protector (sound familiar, AB My Bodyguard 1980) During the course of the interviews for bodyguard, at one point there sitting across from the 3 is no one else but Mr. Jayne Cobb himself, I laughed out loud. See spoiler below if you want. .Adam Baldwin has a cameo as a bodyguard being interviewed. During the interview, he comments on how stupid it is for a bodyguard to protect kids from bullies, while wearing an identical costume to the one he wore in the movie My Bodyguard (1980) (where he played a bodyguard to protect a fellow student from a bully). It was very funny and unexpected and shows Mr. Baldwin still has a real sense of humor. After the show was over I was able to get my son to watch “ Jaynestown” with me. Kind of a con I know but it worked and I think he enjoy the show more than he will admit. I heard him laugh a couple times so that made me feel good. Anyhoo, its been a good night. Z, out

I guess this is the time to make excuses, so I'll say that I have that, and then tell you that I only have excuses for some of the time I've been away. First my computer died and I had merry hell posting up the next chapter of my fic. Then exams rolled around and I was kinda distracted, fairly understandably. After that-well, I had nothin' but a deep-blue funk keepin' me from you charming ladies and menfolk and I'm sorry about that. The story continues now and my other project, that of the Twenty Seventh Independent Battalion, may also be gathering pace, so keep an eye out. Sorry again! Stormwind.

I was in a Firefly chat room the other day. In the course of the conversation, I was expressing my desire to see Firefly/Serenity continued - perhaps as webisodes or direct-to-dvd. This may only be a pipe dream, but I nearly fell out of my chair when one of the other people in the chat told me to "mourn and move on." Yes, Firefly has been off the air for quite a few years. And yes, it's even been a while since Serenity was released. I have even accepted it is highly improbably there will be any kind of Firefly/Serenity revival. Life goes on. Everyone has moved on to other opportunities. I understand. I even comprehend. The extent of my fan support is not strictly limited to Firefly and Serenity. I continue to support the cast, crew and creative team in whatever ventures they explore. They were all part of something I thoroughly enjoy and I wish nothing but wonderful success for each and every one of them. Furthermore, I will do what I can to encourage those successes. Nonetheless, I still hold on to a small glimmer of hope. For me, that's part of being a Browncoat - holding out hope for the impossible, fighting the fight no matter the odds. Am I wrong? The Browncoat community is a mighty thing. Though the years continue to pass, there we are - meeting at shindigs around the world, attending conventions, buying memorabilia, writing fan fiction, signing petitions, making costumes, hosting websites, spreading the word. I know I am not the only fan out in the big black that still continues to hope for more Firefly/Serenity. Here are some of the reasons why: 1.) When Firefly was cancelled, webisodes were hardly an option. Today, you can visit the website of most major cable networks and watch your favorite shows online for free. As we will all see on July 15th, Joss himself has fully embraced webisodes as a vehicle for distribution. 2.) Nowadays, it seems networks and studios are far less hesitant to produce direct-to-dvd events. Take a look at the DVD Release Titles over the past few years. How many made it to the big screen? 3.) My dear and fluffy Lord knows the Firefly/Serenity fan base has grown over the years. I believe such incarnations could be highly successful. I am; however, totally biased. It may be kwong-juh duh, but I don't give a good gorram! I would rather be a fool in paradise than live in a miserable reality where I must say goodbye forever to my most beloved Firefly/Serenity. I still believe and no power in the verse can stop me!!!

"OK, Dude," it's official, I am in serious danger of burning out my laptop. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is my drug of choice! Just about anyone who knows me, knows there is a definate entertainment aspect to my way of thinking. Almost anything someone says to me in conversation, I can relate to a song or a quote from a movie. I don't know why, that's just how I roll. Now, there is this wonderful multi-media event, starring actors I love and fantastic music that stays with you! Not that it was really necessary for the music to be memorable, since I just keep watching Acts 1 & 2. My conversations should be fantastic fun for those not in the know. Oh well, "we'll bend the world to our will." I didn't rush to see Act 1 and the site kept crashing. Yay, mass appeal! Great show of support, you sultry minxes! Once I saw it, that was it - "rapture inside of me is on the rise." I bought the iTunes Season Pass. I cannot wait to own it! I stayed up last night until Act 2 was posted. Now the wait for Act 3 is agonizing. Truthfully, it's a good thing I have to work. Otherwise, I'm afraid there would be some "lacy, gently wafting curtains" in my future. My family would find my lifeless body seated in my living room, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog on repeat - very Miranda-esque. I'm not even going to think about the intense void when Act 3 is released and there is no more.

Hi all! Chapter 11 of Trials and Redemptions is up now... hope everyone likes it! As always, I very much appreciate any constructive criticism or comments. Again I must apologize for not posting sooner, but real life decided to rear it's ugly head and interfered with being able to finish it. I must say thank you to those who did comment after I posted Chapter 10, but I'm still a little concerned by the still low number of comments! Understandably the first chapter has lots more hits than the rest, this story won't be everyone's cup of tea, and I fully expected a rather low percentage of return readers. But at the same time, each chapter is getting fewer and fewer readers, but there aren't any comments! I can't make it better if no one wants to tell me what's wrong... so if you like something, but even more so if you don't like it, speak up! As long as you're polite about it, and most people on here are (based on seeing comments on other fics), I have no problem with hearing what anyone has to say. Chapter 11 did not go in any way, shape, or form, anywhere near my original plans. And consequently I will have to revisit Chapter 12 to weave things back together... but have no fear! With any luck I'll be able to finish 12, 13, and 14 before this weekend, when I'll be going out of town for about two weeks, and thus unable to post. So as a reward for all the dutiful readers, there's a good chance of a TRIPLE POST on Friday!

My muse has returned. It's not quite full strength yet but real life has been settling down a bit and I scribbled a bit about Mal and his Ma's apple pie at lunch time today. I was at the point of "yada, yada, yada" for a while and she got me over the minor writer's block. Hope to see lots of you'all at Dragon Con. Sorry about not posting anything new but I have been delayed in doing so. It is now Fire season at work, so far, one small fire (about one hundred acres) that flared up durning high winds. My border collie (Ci-Ci) became sick and a vet visit had to happen. She is better now but still moves about a little slow. Also we are in the middle of a adoption and had to get some legal paper work done. That's about it for now.

I just checked the guest list for Collectormania Glasgow, at the end of August. I'm completely blown away at the latest updates.. Of course, I knew that the second event was gonnae blow last year's premier out of the water. I have every faith in the organisers, and boy, have they delivered so far! There are still loads more to be announced.. I'm gonna need to rob a bank or something... There are far too many cool guests.. At the start, I was psyched about Nicholas Brendan. (Xander Harris in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.) The same applies to Dave 'Darth Vadar' Prowse. I mean, come on.. Who wouldn't be? Then, I was chuffed to hear about Marina Sirtis (Councillor Troi from Star Trek TNG.) Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) has also been announced, but that didn't really make me sit up and take notice. Even if I am a horror fan, and it's a great opportunity.. No.. There's one guest that I definitely want to see. Dirk fucking Benedict! 'Face' from the A-Team, for the uninitiated.. Or, 'Starbuck' from the classic Battlestar Galactica. I swear, the venue is going to be swamped.. I'm a bit worried that I won't get in. But.. Yeah.. That's a legitimate reason to get uber excited now.. I still need to process the news.. Apologies for the overexcitement..

HOBAN INARA MAL-CONTENT BOOK JAYNE KAYLEE ZOE RIVER (I also have lots of other perfume oil scents like: sandalwood, Hugo Boss, Ken Cole, Drakkar, Jasmine, White Diamonds, Anais Anais, etc. etc.) If you want scent-paper samples, just send me a stamped self-addressed envelope and I will mail you samples of what I have so far. I have two sizes: 1/3-oz. roll-on bottle for $10 and those small sample vials, 5/16th dram for $2. (Yeah, I know. What's a "dram" -- beats me, just a thin vial 3" long or thereabouts.) Still have SIMON to come up with -- kinda tricky, 'cuz I wanna capture the "clean" and "proper" thang but still get the "Fugitive-on-the-Run" thang as well. I had a question about why I write pre-war Mal. And my answer was.... "I don't know, the stuff just pops into my head". I was thinking on this while I took my evening walk on the historic Pamlico River in eastern NC while listening to a mishmash of 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's music. I guess that's it's how I was brought up. I'm a boomer but born late enough (1960) to miss the worst part of the drugs, protests, riots etc. And I've always had a sense of history. I live 120 miles from a place that up until the late 1970's or so the fisherman still had a brogue that an Elizabethan would recognize. And about 20 miles away Blackbeard actually lived (in the oldest incorporated town in the state), married a local girl, got cozy with the local government and eventually decided it was all too tame so he turned again to piracy. Historical markers are every where in town. Markers about the Civil War (and earlier) are everywhere and the houses that survived the Federal (there's that word again!) occupation are guarded jealousy. Add to that stories of the strong women of my family. Like my ancestress that refused to swear allegiance to the US after the Civil War. She was buried never surrendering in her mind. Or my great grandmother who was born in the early 1880's. She lived to see not only cars but airplanes and eventually space flight before she passed in 1968. Also stories and family history were passed down from one generation to the other both orally and were in some cases written down. (as an American Studies major I wish my Grandmother had recorded her recollections, they were priceless and they died with her. I also just re-found a 1875 family letter that describes a smallish town recovering from war that could be on one of the Border planets-I wish I could show it to you.) Let's see here...sense of history, small town rebels and is occupied by the Feds, strong women, all sorts of family stories equals one geeky, glasses wearing (had my eye exam Wednesday now bifocal glasses or contacts, ughhhhh!) American Studies major at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill that's currently devouring a biography of Elizabeth I by Alison Weir after an orgy of Tudor biographies. Add a dash of the dramatic, Cecil B. Demille (Washington, NC spelling of the last name) is a distant cousin. Does any one see a trend here?

Well what can I say I got banned from www.cantstopthesingal.co.uk yesterday. I'm not sure exactly why all I know was I somehow pissed everyone off when I told them about what I wrote about in my last log. That said I was never made welcome at the site and whenever I put my point across about anything the rest of the users would ganged up to rip it to pieces and call me names like disturbed. They may have a point but I thought brown coats were meant to stick together and help one another? Now I don't think I can go to any shindigs in the UK or my home town of Glasgow in case they are there and start to poke fun at me in real life. That aside a family member also died yesterday after I was banned form the site making it a really bad day. No idea how to end this log. Anyone thinking of joining that site beware.

Ugh! Hard drive in my 6 year old laptop died on me while I was finishing editing Chapters 12, 13, and 14. Using a public terminal to leave this note, but I won't be able to post until I get back from vacation and can pull the data off the laptop back onto my main machine. I don't anticipate being back before August 4th, so please hang in there, and I really would appreciate any constructive criticism on Chapter 11 in the mean time. 11 was very hard for me, and I'm still not sure if it's right. I studied long and hard to get my degrees. Then the scary part came when I had to leave the safe womb of the university where I learnt so many valueble lessons, such as: 1. The rastas in Knysna are stoolies for the police or some other person posing as the police who gives advice on how to buy pot better next time. 2. You will not necessarily fall after the fourth tot of tequila, but your pool skills may improve exponentially with every tot. 3. Drinking makes everyone silly. Don't stay sober around drunk people, it makes you depressed about the future of the world. 4. Smoking may be bad for you, but damn, is sure helps you get through a night's studying (one every hour on the hour) 5. You can say no to beer. Then I started working. This taught me the following 1. People are bastards 2. Even people you knew before, are bastards 3. There is a reason for workers' unions (I still can't get myself to join one though, it goes against the grain to join anything) Now I am older and wiser, I have decided that it is better to learn than to earn. I think I'm going back to university. This time I'll study applied science instead of pure science. Perhaps Engineering... yeah at a university near the coast!

It's been too many years... been a browncoat loner for far too long, then I found this boat. What the heck? I climbed on. Looking forward to the ride and meeting crew members, allies, and foes. Firefly come back? Bai li mohn. But that's what dreams are for, ain't it? Anyway, pleased to meet ya'. Let's see if we can keep this crate flyin'. Oh, I'm Grunge, if ya' care to know.

Had to fight three more wildland fires at work, all small under one hundred acres each. One was an accident, set off by training troops but the other two are of an unknown origin (possiblly arson). Everything else is going okay. Daisy, Ci-Ci and Denver are getting along fine. Ci-Ci is much better now, what ever was wrong is gone. Well thats all for now.

Once a time I read a book about a fellow named 'A.A. Milne.' I think he wrote books for kids. Any way, what I remember most about this fellow is a quote of his, it went like this: "One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries." I don't know how the rest of the folk in the 'verse feel, but I'm aimin' to make a lot more discoveries 'afor I die. Keep it shiny!

So, I was just thinking, if there WAS to be a Serenity 2, where do we start off with everybody? Reconnaisance and postulation. The deceased: WASH HOBURN His plastic dinosaurs will stay somewhere, unremarked. At least one will. The sarcastic edge really needs some boosting now, because he was the main source. SHEPARD BOOK I think he may have had an impact on Jayne, who may actually be turning in the direction of being slightly more principled than amoral. His less-than-open life before he became a shepard may come to light (and come back to haunt them)in the form of contacts and schemes. The living: THE OPERATIVE: What DOES he do with himself now? Does he just, as in River's speech about herself "fade away, disappear"? Seems an odd end for him (although alliance will probably execute him and he won't resist) and while I applaud the originality, I dunno where it leaves us. Still, I kind of like that. CAPTAIN MALCOM REYNOLDS He's got a ship again, and a reasonable crew, if somewhat diminished (handy, now he has a co/pilot who presumably can navigate in her head, although if she rubs soup in her hair again while on a run it could get... ugly):D He's faced the alliance, and the reavers, and "won". He's also proved himself to the crew. So now what? They still gotta live, which is essentially what it was all about anyway; the flashy stuff was mostly 'pretty pretty lights' and a surface distraction. But we need something, as Jayne would say, 'epic-er'. Still thinkin on that. Will the alliance leave him alone? Nah. How can they? He's a smuggler and they likely still want River back (duh, that doesn't go away.) But they may have another open rebellion happening like the Independents---people get upset when you kill entire planets and create things like reavers. In other news, I think in a while, he'll be just about set to start calling River mei-mei or something like that. After he gets the reaver scene out of his head, which'll take a while. ZOE WASHBURNE She'll fly true, but subdued for quite a while. Lots of inner grief. I can't believe what she does with it all--I have a feeling Wash softened a lot of the Serenity Valley stuff, but what's gonna help now with the memories of Wash? I think we may see some of her pre-firefly, Serenity-Valley-self emerge again. Really, she makes me think of the heart of the ship---she and River combined in some weird way make up the 'personality' of Serenity. With some Kaylee 'all shiny' and a little Mal thrown in, of course, because ship affects captain and vice versa. Anyway, I wonder if she'll 'leave' or stay, whether she's seen too much or has nowhere else to go, or decides the only loyalty she has left is to her captain. Big questions for someone who never seems troubled by the answers. If this is going to work, she needs to be there. JAYNE COBB Jayne's loyalty has been majorly tested in Serenity. I think he passed the test--but can we 'trust' him now? I think that's the fundamentality of Jayne--we can't, or he's not Jayne. I just don't know where he goes. He may at this point decide to go out on his own, but I think he kinda likes hangin' around Serenity---starting to learn that life isn't all paychecks and job hazards? I think he's fond of River, even if she's tried to injure him more proportionally than the rest of the crew. Also respects Simon more, so I see new, different interaction between them. SIMON TAM Getting some respect, I think. Pretty comfortable with the Firefly crew, now he's made a place for himself. They realize they really need him. Less worried about his sister, since although the Alliance screwed up her brain I get the impression that what was making her THAT hysterical was the Miranda memories--she'll still have plenty of problems, but now they've been through a reaver attack.
