Taking a suggestion by STICKS I have just finished a Buffy/Firefly Crossover called "The Multiverse" The idea presented by STICKS just seemed too good not to use. I therefore bring you Mal Vs Caleb

<Sigh> Happiness is news of BDM
Wednesday, 03 March 2004 23:27:42

So I use this thing if I want to type nonsensical stuff that doesn't warrent a thread? Use it I will. Just got home from school. Been kinda depressed because college ain't all its cracked up to be. Come home and do my usual sweep of the boards for movie news. Now, by this point I don't even expect to see news anymore. I've waited too long for news that would tell me that this story would have some sort of continuation (I think that about a year and 2 and half months is long enough, don't you?) But then I saw it. It was so beautiful. Do you know that I actually cried? Is that weird? Meh, I don't care. I am on cloud nine and I really don't think that anything could knock me off of it. ~Nicole~ Just had to get that out.

Lunch experience
Friday, 05 March 2004 00:43:27

So, at lunch, we often trade foods. Or take them on a first come, first serve basis. Hero was getting his lunch, and I got some crackers. Well, "M" was eating the rest of the pack I got the crackers from. Well, "G" said "This is my client, and he deserves x." Or something like that. "G" goes on about client, and when Hero arrives, he says something along the lines of "If this was a Firefly discussion, this could be very interesting." We laughed so gorram hard!

Never done one of these before, but why not? I'll start of with something short and then if anyone replies and inflates my ego because I think you actually care what I have to say then I'll write something longer. Therefore, let The First Blog (TFB) begin. I was in lab today dissecting a shark with my group and the lab instructor came over to my bench. He pointed out a structure that we hadn't been able to find and I noticed (as I always do) that he wears blue dissecting gloves. Now this is no big news, he always has, but later when another question came up, our T.A. came over; lo and behold today he too was wearing blue dissecting gloves! For the people out there with non-dissecting majors, dissecting gloves are just plain ol'latex gloves given a fancy name. In this case BLUE latex gloves. Well let me tell you, I just about jumped up and did a little dance. I did manage to keep it in however, my lab partners have been a wee bit weary of me ever since the talking cat skull incident, and I wouldn't want to upset them further. But come on people! Two men, blue gloves? And not just any gloves either, the exact same kind! Serendipity! This incident only solidifies Jeremiah's* place as the best T.A. ever. Now if only they'd been wearing black suits instead of lab coats. Oh well...can't have everything at once. This at least will give me something to hopefor (yah, like that'll ever happen). So I know that everyone has their own Hands of Blue moment, but this was mine and as such will always hold a special place in my heart. *names have been changed to protect the privacy of everyone involved, By the way, Jeremiah totally touched my bum today, and I'm not entirely sure that it was an accident....heh Well that was longer than I though it would be, but I'm not forcing you to read this so who cares. Blue gloves, and bum touches, and skarks, oh my! ~Nur

I AM NOT A GUY!
Friday, 05 March 2004 04:42:42

As a female, i would like to make something abundantly clear. I am not a male. I am lacking certain anitomical features required to be a male. There has been some confusion. So i had to clear that up. Because you all are confused and all.

Heh. I wonder how many people are reading this just because of the title :P Anyway, the title refers to the conversation between River and Book in Out of Gas: RIVER: You're afraid we're going to run out of air. That we'll die gasping. (then) But we won't. That's not going to happen. *He looks at her, taken by her utter certainty.* RIVER:(flatly)We'll freeze to death first. (

A new way I’m going to try and get fans
Friday, 05 March 2004 19:57:02

Ok I was thinking yesterday that FF fans tend to be smarter than your average reality TV viewer so where can I help find these smart people and make then fans. Then it hit me, my good friends subsim.com! I know one person over there is a Firefly fan, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a smarter group of people (You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen a Nuclear Physicist and a Rocket Scientist debate which is better Das Boot or The Hunt for Red October). So from now on whenever I make a mission for Sub Command in the mission description box after I have said whats happening I’m going to add a Firefly quote and a link to this site. If anyone else does things like write missions/levels/whatever for computer games maybe you should try this. If there are any SC players out there reading this my missions can be found at www.geocities.com/billds9

Firefly: The Board Game - Ready to Play!
Friday, 05 March 2004 22:44:06

In the event that you've missed my previous blog entries or the short-lived thread, I've developed a board game based on Firefly. It's a cooperative game for 1-9 people, ages 12 and up. Players take the part of one or more of the Firefly crew, facing the same challenges and dangers that the crew faced in each of the 14 episodes. Strategy comes in the form of when and where to use special crew cards unique to each crewmember and how to manage the money gained from jobs to keep Serenity flying. The ultimate goal is to help each of the crewmembers reach a state of serenity. You can print it out at home on your colour inkjet onto cardstock, or even onto standard paper, if you don't mind playing with thin paper cards. It's free (with the printing and the addition of a few easily found markers and dice), it's based on our favourite space-western, and it's a great way to see how well you'd do compared to our intrepid crew in the same life-or-death situations. More details here:

Movie Related Wishlist
Monday, 08 March 2004 07:32:42

As with many movies, especially sci-fi ones, we could have pc and platform games, comic book adaptations, tech manuals, board games, action figures etc, etc. What would be the top five all time wants for all you Browncoats out there?

Fear and loathing on the bus.
Monday, 08 March 2004 22:18:31

The bus I take when going to lunch has become a problem lately. Theres this little gang you see, made up of a bunch of little piss-ants and ass-holes who wouldnt be much of a problem on their own but in a group, well, Im not the toughest brown-coat around. This is unfortunate because theyve picked me as a target. No idea why. Its completely uninstigated. I look as menacing as possible at all times. They just started a few months ago. First with soem verbal abuse, insults to my appearance, the fact that I listen to music on the bus, the stuff that I read. Its just general harassment and I ignored it. Then they apparently found out I was mostly Irish. Dont know how, but theyve got some kind of problem with it. Its gotten continually worse, they started throwing little things at me. Its remarkably juvenile sounding until you get it on a daily basis from grown men, then its just threatening. It escalated again today. They surrounded me when I got on, peppering me with questions and racial slurs until it turned physical. This one bastard behind me started jabbing me in the shoulder with something which I ignored for a while but trafic was bad so we werent going to get to a destination any time soon. Eventually he got fed up with my silence and jerked on my head-phone cord. My hand snapped up on instinct and grabbed him at the wrist. I turned, twisting his arm into a very uncomfortable position as I did so. "Dont do that." I said in the most menacing tone I could manage. He wasnt about to stop. His buddies had laughed at him you see. At the next opportunity, I got up and oved to an area of empty seats right behind the driver, I might be spared there. One of them of course followed me, setting down in the seat right behind mine and proceding to do a drum solo on the back of my seat with a mostly-full Gatorade bottle. It was a nnoying but I didnt care any more. My stop was in sight. I stood up as the bus stopped and then the bastard hit me. Right over the head. Hurt like hell too. I snapped. Spinning around I stalked after him as he ran towards his friends. I was trailing more Chinese expletives at that point than an Asian gangster film. Reaching the spot where he cowered I proceeded to ream them all out, shouting at the top of my lungs and generally frightening the other riders. They denied the whole thing and the driver ordered me off the bus, their smug smiles hitting me in the back even harder than that Gatorade bottle. Ill never win, Ive probably caused all manner of trouble for myself with those guys too. It was not my best day ever. I dont think I'm going to ride the bus any more. * Sorry for ranting at you folks for so long but I really need someone to vent at right now and everyone has been remarkable unresponsive to my woes.

OH HAPPY DAY!

Class Time
Wednesday, 10 March 2004 00:36:42

Hey! I've been asked to teach a class! Exciting, yes very! Here's the catch, it's suppose to be a cooking class at our local co-op grocery store. Think small, don't think Whole Foods or Wild Oats size. They used to have a small cafe but almost went bankrupt trying to operate it. As a result they sold off all of their equipment, including the stove. That's right, come teach a class but we don't have a way for you to actually apply heat to the food. Isn't it Alton Brown who says, "Food + heat = cooking?" That being said, I'd still like to figure out a way to do something. If it weren't for this co-op there would be no place to buy certain standard ingredients. We have an Albertson's and a Wal-Mart (but I detest them and try not to shop there.) In the last couple of years two major grocery stores have left our town. So far I'm thinking maybe a cold appetizer class or a class on salads. You know, mix your greens, vary your dressing, add a cold protein, that sort of thing. Alright, I've got bread dough that has to go to the next stage. More latter. Be well! _____________________________________ I'm not even suppose to be here today!

Some Good News and Some Bad News
Wednesday, 10 March 2004 04:14:24

So which do you want first? Bad News first, I think. That way we can temper it with the Good News. The Bad News is plainly this: Some people are just plain inconsiderate AND just plain stupid. This weekend I was just idly checking up on the conversation threads and I came across one called Best Death Scene Ever or something like that. Now it doesn't tell you what catagory the thread is in, and so off go thinking that it will be people talking about who had a better death, Darth Vader or Obi-Wan Kenobi or something along those lines. Was I wrong to assume such as thing? Was I really? NO GORRAM WAY!! But instead what I ended up getting was utterly and completely spoilled for a show that I will not even name so as to not even give the hint of spoiling you if you don't already know. After the stomping and swearing and exclamations of "who the HELL does that?!?!" I scrolled down...lo and behold someone had reminded the author of the post that we have a rather shiny thing called a spoiler option so that you don't do to people EXACTLY what they did to me. Wouldn't you think that after being reminded that they might have been spoiling that episode for people and that there is a spoiler feature that they would go back and edit their post to use it? You would wouldn't you. Well they certainly didn't. At this point its necessary to admit that I'm not a nice person, and I don't like spoilers. I posted a nasty little message watered down by my tree-hugging, pacifist (but also loving and ultimately rational) fiance, whom I love but who doesn't let me say half the mean things I want to most of the time, utilising the spoiler option. Childish? Yes. Harsh? Yes. Satisfying? Hell Yeah! The Good News is plainly this: My website went through some major changes and additions this weekend. Uploaded more of my stories, as well as new sections for Firefly and Author's Notes. We also fixed the font and line spacing so now you can read it without your magnifying glass. So hurray for easy reading and 4, count 'em, 4 newly uploaded Firefly stories (and lovely Firefly pics too)! And just in case you were wondering, I clearly label my spoilers and in one part even use a 'highlight to read spoiler' thingy. Its really not that hard, I promise. Anyway check it out, have a good day, and don't bloody well spoil things for people!

Of Assignments and Uru
Wednesday, 10 March 2004 11:58:17

Id like to start off by giving a big thank you to everyone who passed along advice and kind words after the incident I had a few days ago. It has been taken care of and I'll leave it at that. In other better news (depending on how you want to look at it.) I got the assignments back from my teaching gig. And well, (nervous laughter)... Yeah. A good deal of them were good and original and all but Im not quite registering how a lot of these people got into a second and third year creative writing class.Mostly because those that werent pretty good were written by people with apparently no grasp of the english language whatsoever. I shouldnt say things like that though, its "mean" . Finally I come to the best news since the announcment of Serenity: The anouncment of a free downloadable expansion pack for Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. Dont care? Well I do and Im excited about it, ha ha. And here I was worried that they were going to terminate the project after the online portion got canceled. That be all for today. Thanks again and, good day.

Allright, I am out of here as of 3 pm today(March 10th). Thanks for the kind words guys, and I will be back in a few months!

unexpected convert
Thursday, 11 March 2004 03:40:48

Well, I've had the dvd's for a month now, and well, was starting to despair of ever having anyone to discuss or watch them with since my taste in tv tends to differ from all of my friends. Surprisingly, my ex agreed to watch the first episode and is hooked. He never saw it when it was on fox because he really doesn't watch anything other than cnbc and anime on cartoon network. Of course, I probably wasn't helping by describing the show as Cowboy Bebop meets Magnificent Seven. Of course, I know the entire reason he fell in love with it is because he wishes he could throw some of his coworkers through an engine like mal did on the train job. Anyway, I'm now assured of one movie buddy at least come 2005.

YoSaffBridge
Friday, 12 March 2004 03:50:40

Ahh the joys of a dissection lab! 5 hours and many hand washings later my hands smell like a few kinds of soap (bubblegum included, thats the scent of the soap in the lab), hand lotion, and dissection. No matter what you do that scent just sticks. Even through gloves. Today it was Bridget (our mink) that had the particular honour of stinking me up. I named her Bridget 'cause she's slippery, and kinda cool. Much like YoSaffBridge. I would have prefered to call her that, or even Yolanda or Saffron, but I took a lot of harassment for naming our shark Willemina. I though that Bridget was the safe way to go. So my Firefly-y reason for this blog: My brain works in strange and mysterious ways and often will make incredible leaps of odd logic from one thing to another (hence the mink named after Saffron). Today it was all about "I shaved my beard for you, devil-woman!" I guess bringing Bridget back out of her preserving fluid just got me thinking of the return of Saffron and then I just couldn't get it out of my head. I was tempted to pick her up and re-inact the scene but I'd already made her do little dance on the table top and I didn't need anymore odd looks today. I don't mind them at all, you just have to carefully pace them  In other lab related news its official, Jeremiah* is in love with me. I present the following evidence A)he touched my bum last week in lab B)there was flirtatious teasing on his part this week C)while sitting next to me he rubbed his leg against mine and most importantly D)he wore his blue dissecting gloves again today(see previous blog "2 by 2" for the explanation). If that isn't love I don't know what is. *names have been changed to protect the privacy of bum touching, leg rubbing, blue glove wearing T.A.'s named Wallace the Squallus ~Nur www.thecherryorchard.net

I have a new bane....
Friday, 12 March 2004 03:51:19

...it's called Steam. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, you know true happiness; but just so you know, Steam is a bug-ridden program that plagues online gamers. Any other gamers out there hate this thing as much as I? Want to know why I hate it? My Adventures with Steam: 1) Installation problems. Had to get a diffrent copy of install file. 2) Kept freezing after trying to update. Had to reinstall to fix. 3) After creating an account, I was repeatedly unable to login. Had to reinstall to fix. 4) When trying to install Day of Defeat, it kept saying my CD-key is invalid, even though I posess a valid legal key. 5) After repeatedly trying to install DoD. It had finally 'claimed' to do so. It even said it was updating DoD. However, when I try to play, it asks for my CD-key and goes back throught the install process. 6) Still refuses to work. sounds like quality software to me...

Hey I see that someone allready has fire fly locked down so...
Friday, 12 March 2004 14:28:31

Entry log 0098-2068 The subject is NSC, it has no visible respiratory systems and its mind has no cerebral core. " God I hate aliens " Simmons said to himself "Their so... impossible, how can this little bastard that took out six marines not be able to think?" "Or breath for that matter" Simmons looked up expecting to see Dr.Harman, he was always looking to move in on his research. And as always, he was here again. "So what’ve we got here? Simmons" "Well 'I' have a new species of covenant" "Now Simmons, come on you know were on the same team, we shouldn’t be fighting each other, remember, he's the enemy, not me." "Yea well I guess, the last time you took credit for my work, you were working for the betterment of man kind, not yourself." “Of course, you know your smarter than me, not all of us are experimental ‘Thirds’.” Just the mention of word, third, sent a shock wave of anger through his entire body. Due to the act of Congress in 2035, that stated all families are entitled to only two children unless given special permission by the government. Just the simple fact of him being born had caused him ridicule and torture growing up. Due to his parents ‘perfect’ genes the government decided to let them have a ‘Third’. The only difference with his birth, was that while in the womb he was monitored to see what exactly happened to make him a so-called, genius. He had always been used, from the time he was born he was a human experiment always used for the new brain treatment, the first to test out the new programs on the computer or leading the scores on all I.Q. tests. Yea, it was really fun to be smart… especially all the kids making fun of him and the parents not letting his only friend stay over at his house. Not to mention correcting his girl-friend every time she tried to hold a decent conversation, he didn’t mean to, it just happened. Of course being a third wasn’t all-bad, he could easily win any academic award, he could speed read four times faster then any other human, and he could type over three hundred words a minute. You could say that after his adolescent years, life was pretty good. Yea there were the occasional ass-holes and people trying to bring him down, but other than that, he could cope with the ability to come up with any equations solution in about two seconds. All was great until the covenant came… It was September 11, 2049 the day was full of celebration, remembering those fallen victims of over four decades ago, when the sun blacked out all over the world. At first people thought it was an eclipse, well until the guy next to you was suddenly blown away by a blast of immense light that could pierce through any keflar. When a person first sees a covenant they think “Monkey” because that’s what they resemble with their body armor on, but they quickly turn from monkey to man killing machine in about four and a half seconds. Their fairly easy to kill, much like humans, a couple of shots to the body or one to the head could put one down easily, the only problem was there are about six trillion covenant and about sixty billion humans. Out of these covenant three trillion are specifically military forces bent on colonizing other worlds, with only two million humans ready for war. At first we thought they were attacking us due to some misunderstanding, that they feared us… yea a covenant fearing a human… that quickly faded as they strategically destroyed each of our capitols all over the world from space. All humans know the first war was won on the ground because the covenant as, mindless as they were, had not counted on Earth’s gravity to be so much more than theirs. Each of their ships crashed as soon as they entered the earth’s ion-sphere thus not allowing them to attack us from the skies and letting us stick to Earth’s warfare. Even though we were able to fight on the ground, that still didn’t stop them from wiping out entire regiments like grain to the scythe. “Simmons” the loud speaker blared “Report to the bridge.” “Well, looks like the captain wishes to make your

Hey! Whazzat? Eggs?!
Friday, 12 March 2004 21:51:32

Thats right. I came home today to find that one of my lizards had piled all the sand into one corner of the cage and laid some eggs. I'm going out to pick up some stuff for an incubator an about an hour but until then, Uru. Should be interesting to say the least. She's never laid eggs before so Im assuming that theyve been fertilized. Im kind of worried though, this is way out of natural breeding season and she's now very very skinny (not good in a Uromastyx). I guess Ill see what happens in three months. Good day all.

Thoughts and Such
Saturday, 13 March 2004 01:00:22

Does anyone read these? I wasn't sure. If they do, I'm thinking up a story and it would be nice to bounce ideas off of people. Maybe I should try that in the 'threads' section. You'd think for some one who makes their living off of computers, and more specifically web pages, I'd know a bit more about websites. It's down right shamefull.

Test,test...this is only a test.
Sunday, 14 March 2004 07:28:13

OK, this is my first Blog entry. I figured I'll test the waters before I dive in. I'm sittin' here on my favorite site, obviously, and watching Galaxy Quest. You gotta love that movie. Comedy, action, and special effects all wrapped into one. And who doesn't love Guy. Hey, I wonder if anybody else would agree if The Last Starfighter would be re-release worthy if they'd go back and redo all the ancient CGI with modern CGI. Anywho, that's enough for now. :crap:

You can never go back....
Sunday, 14 March 2004 23:09:17

but sometimes you can return. Went back to my old university at the weekend, which I haven't been back to for some 3 or 4 years now, and saw people I haven't seen for the same period of time. It was odd, how quickly I settled back into the way things were, and how comfortable it was. The cheap beer was a plus as well, although I'm still not sure why one of the students came up to me and asked whether I knew where he could get some drugs. I must obviously look like the type! Well, there's no real point to this (apart from getting over the fear of the empty page, on this this case blog), save that I'd heartily recommend it to all- send out an email to as many addresses as you have from school/uni/whatever - then use the old Three Investigators Ghost to Ghost hook-up ("gee Pete, will anyone get the reference?") to widen the net. Current Music - Gabriel by Lamb on constant repeat for the past 2.5 hours

hopped up on caffeine and feeling adventurous
Sunday, 14 March 2004 23:27:34

I've never done this before, but at work today I had a medium dunkaccino and a medium hazelnut coolatta (yummy!) so i'm really really hyper after a day of inactivity. I just spent like half an hour trying on my sister's clothes (she's in Greece). Question: why the heck do people make halter tops that are practically see-through with no support and backs that are too low to wear a bra with? It's really obnoxious. They should be shot. Or maybe I could get them with one of those creepy silver stick things the blue hands guys have. I can't decide if one of my sister's is to skanky or not. Poop. OK, I'm done.

Long Time
Sunday, 14 March 2004 23:59:35

Well it's been a while... I am so tired. I have been so busy these past two weeks. I've been working the lights for the school musical (Footloose) and it's been really hectic. Everyday since March 1 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays were from after school to six and Tuesdays and Thursdays were from seven to nine. And then this last week it was Monday through Thursday six to nine (Thursday was opening night). Friday and Saturday we had to come in at seven and we stayed until about 10:30. Of course me being the over achiever I am, I got there generally at six and stayed until about eleven the last two nights. I stayed until ten on Thursday. It's just been real hectic. I even had to miss Aikido practice last week. Well, I'm off to go forage through the kitchen pantries. See ya.

Happy St. Patty's Day!!! (A bit early...)
Monday, 15 March 2004 00:03:52

I understand it's early to be wishing happy anything but I decided I would because I had to march in the St. Patty's Day parade today. I was about to overheat and die in my kilt. (Oh yeah, I'm in a bagpipe band. I'm a tenor drummer...good times) Anyhow, we had to march like 3 miles all around the Tucson Convention Center. Blisters abound. I'm pretty excited for St. Patty's day though because we get to do the annual pub crawl. I unfortunately can't drink just yet but it'll still be a blast. I'm convinced that St. Patrick's Day is a real holiday, just like the Guinness commercial says. Well, that's enough nonsense rambling. I hope you all have a fantastic St. Patrick's Day!! And don't forget your green!

Just got my DVDs back, I guess you can't win them all...
Monday, 15 March 2004 03:26:11

The SciFi aspect, and newly acquired cable TV kinda turned my potential convert off from Firefly, even though he liked westerns. He never even watched them. Man am I bummed. At least I got my DVDs back to watch and recharge... :disappointed:

Firefly helps the medicine go down.
Monday, 15 March 2004 19:42:44

Well it helps anything bad go down (both figuratively and litterally). Disclaimer:The following paragraphs are completely random and unconnected except by the mention of Firefly. You have been warned. I spent 11 hours yesterday doing a horrible computer project, the only thing keeping me going was the thought of Firefly as a reward when I was done and my darling Almond with all his help. In the end, when it was all finished I watched Safe then Shindig with commentary. I hadn't seen any Firefly since reading week so it was quite shiny. When I was watching Safe, one of my roommates came and watched a little bit with me and would have stayed if she didn't have an essay to finish, who knows maybe I'll have another convert soon. This morning another roommate was talking about how she always cuts her apples, teehee. I love random Firefly references by people who don't even know they're making them. 2 weeks ago I was visiting my fiance and there were fliers for a complete Firefly showing at his university on the Saturday...we saw them on Sunday. Sometimes life just kicks you in the shin like that. Tonight though, on my campus we're having a Firefly showing! Nothing too big, don't want to overwhelm the newbies :P Serenity, TTJ, OMR, Ariel, Trash, and I think The Message...I didn't pick them so I'm not sure. It was crazy last week and this weekend just passed, so it's nice to be able to relax with a little Firefly. So now I'm just waiting for my program counselor to call me back so she can sign my course selection sheet. Damn you Genetics, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't need her to sign anything and I wouldn't have to be waiting like this. *Shakes fist at Gregor Mendel* I'm not very good at waiting, can't say as I have much patience myself. So I guess I'll just sit here...and wait...for the phone to ring...I'll just spend my time looking forward to a Firefly marathon with a room full of fans...ring!stupid phone...*sigh* ~Nur www.thecherryorchard.net

Shindig and converts
Tuesday, 16 March 2004 00:45:27

On Friday the 12, I hosted a mini-shindig. I invited 5 people, one of whichj was already converted by me (He's here as theheroofcanton aka Hero). So, I showed them Serenity, and all 4 of them fell in LOVE with Firefly. We also played some games. I got two books. A Kafka and an Orwell. In conclusion, 5 converts for me. Finis

Firefly... This is Cowboy Bebop!
Tuesday, 16 March 2004 07:06:57

Whenever I was showing the pilot episode to a friend of mine, he yelled out, " This is Cowboy Bebop!" And this was still in the teaser. After hearing him say that, I got to seeing it differently. It is Cowboy Bebop... sort of. The obvious thing is all the chinese writing and culture everywhere. The same level of drama is there. They're both about a crew of misfits just trying to make their way through life, and space. They both take place on a limited number of planets that are recurrently revisited, which also happen to be terraformed planets of the local government. And, our Earth is long since dead in both 'verses. If Cowboy Bebop had 9 characters, I'm sure they'd match up more. Since it doesn't, they only have some almagams: Spike is Mal and Wash. Faye is Inara and Jayne. Ed is River and Kaylee. Jet is Book and Zoe. Ein and Simon aren't really alike, but both their names end with an "n." I know the crew of the Serenity aren't bounty hunters, but they could be. And the crew of the Bebop aren't thieves, but they could... wait a minute, I think they are. Anywho,I didn't agree with my friend more so than when I saw "The Message" when I got the DVD. The station they're on reminded me of the one straight out of "Honkey Tonk Women" on 'Bebop. OK, you have to have a little imagination with it, but it's there. I could go on and on with the simularities, but it's late and I've got to go to work in a couple of hours. Please send any replies or comments that may prove or disprove this prospective. Hell, start a thread. Thanks for showing enough interest in the two to read.

Firefly on PVP

Scott Kurtz's game-based webcomic ran a Firefly related joke today based off of his conversion to the show. It can be found here:

Towards a brilliant Water Taxi
Wednesday, 17 March 2004 02:37:32

Why doth the raven sing? Why doth the Scarsdale celebrity dance-a-thon End without ceremony? As if it were just a monkey's bar mitzvah? If it were now, rather than then (or later?) Would you have stopped washing my car? How many times must I challenge you with the words "Halt, who goes there?" How many worlds must cease Before terrifying pilgrimages of seagulls alight Upon my balcony and sing out to the Gods: Show me a rose! Show me the rose of York! Lo! For though the squirrels of discontent re-imagine my bedroom community The unknown quantity of life is its own penalty! Ha! I laugh at those who would live in Studio City For without us you are but naked and blind, And shuffle endlessly toward Broadway Pier Without end... Without end... Without end...to the water taxi.

You drink, I donate
Wednesday, 17 March 2004 19:11:36

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! In honor of all things Irish here’s the deal, you drink a beer and post a comment letting me know, I donate a buck to Fireflyfans.net. Since I know many of you will not get a chance to drink your beer till the weekend, I’ll take a final count on Monday, March 22 and paypal the grand total off to Haken. By all means drink as much as you want but I’m only counting one beer per poster (gotta buy groceries this week and I've seen you people drink!) Non-alcoholic option, for those of you who are deprived in an alcohol sort of way, feel free to substitute coffee, coke, whatever. Tell me what you had and Haken still gets the buck. One drink, one buck per poster. Please support Firefly responsibly! Be well! __________________________ Go ahead push your luck

I love DSL!
Friday, 19 March 2004 01:42:03

Yes, it has taken me this long to catch up with the rest of the world, but I now possess... DSL! After months of complaining with my sister, we finally got around to getting DSL rather than crappy slow dial-up. And wow. Everything used to take so long and now, bam!, you're there. If I cared about downloading stuff I would be very pleased. Hmm... Maybe I'll go find a copy of the complete Firefly gag reel...

Bad Day With a Bad Beginning
Friday, 19 March 2004 22:09:51

Ever have one of those days when it seems like everyone you have to deal with is Patience? Up front, everything could go smoothly, but you know, in the end, you'll get shot at. And to empathize with Mal - why doesn't it ever go smoothly? Why can't a week go by without nine million conflicts or hurdles? I start out, gliding along, happy in my sky, and then BAM! REAVERS! I'm just sayin it'd be nice if everyone would chill out for a few days and not create havoc in the lives of everyone else around them. Just be peaceful, and laugh at problems, for 3 - maybe 4 - days. Can we manage that?

Siblings Shouldn’t Reproduce
Friday, 19 March 2004 23:55:57

Ugghhh….I’ve gone and inadvertently pissed off my middle sister again. Sometimes I wish I had been raised by wolves. I’m turning 40 this year (pauses for the inevitable gasps of shock) and I wanted to do a big birthday celebration, someplace fun like Disneyland. She’s the only one with a kid and when I suggested she leave said rug-rat at home for two days she hit the ceiling. I just didn’t want to drag a four-year old around Disney all day. Her family just went last year so I thought a little adult Disney fun would not be out of the question. Apparently, I was wrong. I’m turning off the phone, sticking in my DVD’s and spending the rest of the evening in adult bliss. I’m also going to cuss at random intervals, just because I can. _______________________________________ He graduated, but not so as you’d notice

a really depressing blog out of necessity
Saturday, 20 March 2004 00:37:40

I had ballet company rehearsal today. As soon as the junior company had all left, our teacher told us that her daughter (my jazz teacher and friend) is going to have to get her pregnancy terminated because I guess there it is too dangerous or there is something else really wrong. She's been pregnant for almost 4 months. So I'm really upset right now. Sorry bout this guys, but I really had to share.

Sharereactor taken offline
Saturday, 20 March 2004 05:41:01

Well, I'm bummed. It seems this bit of news has had a cascading effect and a few other directory servers and a result have taken their listings offline temporarily until the Sharereactor situation has been resolved.
FRAUENFELD (kapo) Due to the suspicion of breach of copyright and trademark laws the cantonal judicial Inquiry department of Thurgau has taken down an Internet-Site that served as a link platform for filesharing offerings. A process concerning these matters against the 25 year old owner from Frauenfeld is underway. The Internet-Site located in Frauenfeld was online for about 30 months and last had over 220.000 hits per day bevor it was taken offline by the Thurgau officials. The in search engines toprated site worked as a anchorpoint for links to downloads of copyright and trademark protectet games and movies that were offered on the filesharing network. After a complaint from several large corporations, represented by the swiss association against piracy, the cantonal judicial inquiry department of Thurgau initiated an investigation, seized the servers in Frauenfeld and had the site taken offline. The responsible owner, a 25 year old swiss proved to be very cooperative in explaining matters at hand. The inquiries continue and will take some time.
I've been busy with other things but every now and then i pop in my Firefly DVDs and get that warm feeling inside that I'm sure people here can relate to :) In anycase, I have been waffling between using two different frameworks, one a very popular one that most people use, and the other a less known one but easier (for me) to play with. I played around with the latter, but in the end I decided to use the more popular one. Here's a paste of the beginning of the game. I have most of the rooms on Serenity implemented and connected, I have to add more descriptions. Once I have all the descriptions done I'll release what I have so far so people can offer comments and corrections. Eventually, you will need to install a "zcode interpreter" (used to play old infocom games as well as inform games) for your computer. Luckily there are interpreters for most major computing platforms/OS's out there. --- Serenity Now "You can't take the sky from me" Copyright 2004, Reisun Release 1 / Serial number 040319 / Inform v6.30 Library 6/11 S Passenger Room A plain, barren room. The only features, besides the firm yet pliant bunk bed, is a small desk and a lamp. There is an exit to the east. Captain Malcolm Reynolds is standing here. My browncoat arrived yesterday afternoon. Im so very happy right now! Unfortunatley it came a day late and I wasnt able to wear it to the con' I attended yesterday which kinda sucks but hey, I still got to meet Rob Salvatore. One other thing that I noticed was that there were at least three distinct costume groups there ranging from the 501st to Stargate so i got to thinking: Why not us? Why dont we mob conventions with our Browncoat pride? To get to the point though, what does everyone else think? If there was a Firefly costume group, would you join it?

Azati Prime

Am I the only one still watching "Enterprise?" Someone tapes the episodes two at a time and sends them to me via snail mail since we have no UPN station. I know we're two weeks behind and I want to know what happens to the ship. I assume since Enterprise was being blown to :censored: that the only solution is a time travel one. I'm a little tired of all the alternate time line story arcs but I'm still watching. Tell me we're done with the zendi and moving on to other things. Give me a reason to keep watching!

Go Blazers!
Monday, 22 March 2004 00:39:00

I am just too happy right now. I can't believe my Blazers beat Kentucky. KENTUCKY! That's insane. I mean I wasn't even going to watch the game because I knew there wasn't a chance in Hades UAB would win. But my neighbor started yelling at me from the porch the minute I stepped out of my car tonight that I needed to watch. I caught the last 12 seconds. AHHHHHH!! I just need to scream. Anyway, I know no one cares, but I just had to do a little happy ranting. ~Nicole~

OMG, they do exist
Monday, 22 March 2004 01:35:35

I couldn't believe it. My friend, Brian, that I converted was brought up firefly with an old college buddy he saw today. Said buddies response "yeah, I caught half of one of the episodes when it was on fox, but i thought it was boring and had bad acting." Brian's jaw dropped on the table when he heard that. I mean, I can see if its not your genre, don't like the depiction of the future or something, but bad acting?? Our only explanation is that a.) he was expecting it to be exactly like Buffy and b.) not enough T&A for the guy. I'm still just floored by this. I mean, I'd initially been hesitant to try to get Brian to watch the DVDs because we do have different tastes (when I first got hooked on the comic strip Get Fuzzy he couldn't stand it --- said only girls liked it cause it was all girl humor). Oh well, guess all the Nielsen families responded to the show like Brian's college friend. Its a sad commentary on today's art though that anyone could describe the acting on Firefly as bad :banghead:

This is not my best day ever...
Monday, 22 March 2004 04:32:15

Ok me, my dad and Mike (My failed convert) are going out to get Propane from the Indian Reservation, well we are going in a pickup truck so I'm in the back of the cab, I rip my paints squeezing in I muddier 'Gorram' and curse the makers of my paints. What a crummy start. So we have gotten the tank from another friend’s barn and were off, then the engine dies, smoke fills the cab and burns my eyes. We all scramble out in to the freezing cold weather (curses I forgot to ware my 'Jayne Hat' I received the day before!!) Well the something or other is trashed (it was on the port side of the truck so I'm not ruling out the compression coil!) so we call our buddy who comes to give my dad a ride to Auto-Zone for a part, me and Mike talk a bit and I read the book I had with me, Spy Sub: Top-Secret Mission to the Bottom of the Pacific by Roger C. Dunham. Well the new part doesn’t fix the problem so every one but me goes to the car shop my dad works at for some tools (I volunteered to stay with the truck to look after it) well for the next hour I read my book and sing The Ballad of Jayne. We finally get the truck running, I'm freezing and we got no propane. Oh well I just felt like venting…

Thanks to Everyone
Monday, 22 March 2004 18:35:24

Thanks to everyone who participated in my "You Drink, I Donate" St. Patrick's Day celebration. Haken has been paypaled for your participation. I got a modest amount of $'s I wasn't expecting and I figured it would be good karma to spread the joy. I'm thinking maybe we could do something similar latter in the year. "You barbeque, I donate," "you drink eggnog, I donate," (though I hate eggnog and I wouldn't force that on anyone, not even for Firefly.) So thanks again and keep flying! ______________________________ Just because it didn't happen doesn't mean I didn't see it

My Jayne hat FINALY got here!
Wednesday, 24 March 2004 04:28:46

My jayne hat is here! Its the coolest thing, the woman who made it for me put it in the package with some hay and even the letter from Jaynes mom to Jayne. SO VERY COOL! I'm off to have some hat/straw inconsistancies of my very own.

I just won a one dollar bet!
Wednesday, 24 March 2004 23:18:08

It's amazing what you get to talking about with your friends... So here I was taking the train home with my friend. We had just gotten out of class and very much not wanting to talk about class. I have no idea how it came up, but my friend got the notion that Kiefer Sutherland played Iago in the 1995 film version of Othello. She was wrong and I was quick to point that out, saying it was Kenneth Branagh. Having viewed the movie for a class she agreed with me on that one. However, she was completely convinced that it was Kiefer Sutherland who played Hamlet in the 1996 version. She was wrong again and again I corrected her mistake, saying that was Kenneth Branagh as well. Of course she didn't believe me and that led to the one dollar bet. If I was wrong, I would have to pay a dollar to my friend and vice versa. Obviously it's no big deal, but I was very sure I was right. And I am! Checked out imdb.com and volia! "Kenneth Branagh as Hamlet". I should have agreed on more money.

Down But Not Out
Thursday, 25 March 2004 04:28:58

Firefly was probably one of the most unusual creations of its time. So creative, in fact, that not even the supposed maverick Fox was ready for it. But mark my words, Firefly will rise again, if enough people want it back...it'll come back.

My Cantr Characters' Lives
Thursday, 25 March 2004 06:50:24

Graiwe Johnsmith - Well, today he had to try to get his lord and best friend Lord Tony Stewart into a vehicle to see a doctor because he thought that Tony was sick. It turns out that Tony was alright and just had a few butterflies since he is getting married. Tony asked Graiwe to be his best man at the wedding of which Graiwe accepted. The wedding will be held in Blojt but First Graiwe and Tony need to take care of some trouble up in Eastern Longinazy Forest which is the source of coal for the Commonwealth. There maybe some violence up ahead. Easle Quathak - Just traveling along looking for a new home. He is in despair because he is unsure if he will ever find a home again and whether or not the Siom Sheriff Deputies will ever stop tracking him down for a crime he did not commit. Red Kikhla - He finally told Sammy what he felt for her. She accepted his love. Besides that, Red was able to recruit a few more knights into his order of the Silver Knights that serve the Unnamed Ones. Gerard Jerad - Traveling to Blaman since he ran out of food. He hopes to stock up and continue his resistance at making sure the BEST Company and the GM Company are taken down. His hate for Richard Windmill Jr. has only grown since Richard exiled him from Blaman. Richard Lenseth - He is feeling despair as he now believes that Siom has either abandoned him and his outpost in Quillanoi or Siom has fallen to an unknown foe. His only two deputies are out hunting down a famous criminal that had once almost killed Richard many, many years ago. New plans are beginning to take shape in his head as to beginning something new in the region. James Whitmore - His plans for building a booming clothing industry in the region are doing well. He has all the machinery he needs now and the a whole bunch of people have seeked employment with him. He still hopes to continue his metalsmithing but since limestone is scarce these days he has put that off for the moment. Paoream Safthes - Killed some trouble maker that attacked a DoUrden Mercenary. He is hoping that Robert Smith soon allows DoUrden to attack the Alexian Empire and pillage what is left of that once mighty empire. You find Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Got an email from amazon.com
Thursday, 25 March 2004 14:28:52

Probably because I ordered another set of the DVDs recently, and also because most of what I have purchased from them has been genre related...the email was about FOX SF/Fantasy DVDs on sale, both movies and tv. Of most interest to people here would be the fact that Firefly is mentioned with its own link in the header paragraph of the email, and there is also a link for "TV Boxed Sets On Sale." When you click that one, the number one title on the list is also Firefly. Just thought that was very shiny.

On the subject of Firefly, in comparison with 1984. And more word fun!
Friday, 26 March 2004 04:03:56

Word fun first. A group of fireflies is called a conflagration. A conflagration is a big fire. Interesting, no? A group of foxes is called a skulk. To skulk is to lurk. Words are fun. Now, onto 1984. In Shindig, Mal says something like: "I understand how, I just ain't getting the why." In 1984, Winston writes in his diary: "I understand HOW; I don not understand WHY." Blue Sun- Blue Sun reminds me of Big Brother. River chose to go to the Alliance school. Maybe the school is like the Ministry of Love. These are just thoughts of a bystander. They may be wrong, they may be right.

I'm not a geek am I?
Friday, 26 March 2004 04:23:01

As i was sitting in math class today i had the sudden and startiling realization today that i am a geek. I spend all my life on the internet. When I'm not on the internet I'm doing theatre crap, or reading anime. I hang out with a fair number of geeky-people. and to top it all off I'm obsesed with a sci-fi Tv Show. Now wait, I thought to myself as my Math teacher went on off on a tangent about tangents. Is firefly REALLY a geeky tv show? I mean, all that other stuff is really something that can be ignored, and if you balance it out with all the guitar playing and not geeky stuff that i do, I'm really not that much of a geek, right? But wait, I am obsessed with this Sci-fi TV show that I quote and wear a stupid hat from. That tips the scale and definatly makes me a geek. But not if the Sci-fi TV show is Firefly, right? Because firefly isn't really that sci-fi-y right? So I'm not a geek right?! right?

George, don't make no bull moves. What have you done with him. Oh, Mamma, Mamma, Mamma! Oh, stop it! Stop it!...Oh, Oh, Oh, Sure, sure, Mamma, etc. ("Schultz" at this time was irrational, suffering with a fever of about 106 degrees, with a gunshot wound. Sergeant Luke Conlon, Detectives from Newark Police Headquarters and from the Prosecutor's Office were at his bedside. One of the officers had a newspaper) "Schultz" noticed the newspaper and said: has it been in any other newspapers? (Then, relapsing into irrationality) Now listen Phil, fun is fun. Aha... Please! Papa! What happened to the 16? Oh, oh...he done it? Please...please...John, please. Oh, did you buy the hotel; you promised a million...sure. Get out! I wish I knew. Please make it quick; fast and furious; please... fast and furious. Please help me get out; I'm getting my wind back, thank God! Please, please; Oh, please. Who was it? Oh!...Please, please...Reserve decision, police, police; Henny and Frankie...Oh, Oh, dog Biscuit, and when he is happy he doesn't get snappy...Please, please do this! Well, then...Oh, Cocoa; no... thinks he is a grandpa again and he is jumping around. No, Hoboe and Poboe I think I mean the same thing. Question by Sergeant Conlon: Who shot you? Answer: The bos himself. Q: xxx He did? A: Yes: I don't know Q: What did he shoot you for? A: I showed him boss; did you hear him meet me? An appointment; appeal stuck. All right mother. Q: Was it the boss shot you? A: Who shot me? No one. Q: Was it bow-legs? A: Yes, he might have shot me; it wasn't Robeck(?) or the other guy; I will see him; I never forget and if I do I will be very careful. Q: Was it bow-legs who shot you? A: I don't know who shot me, honest to God! Suppose you help me up now, like a swell fellow. Q: We will help you. A: Will you get me up? O.K., I won't be such a creep. Oh, mamma, I can't go through with it, please. Oh, and then he clips me; come on, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxcut that out, we don't owe a nickel; fold it! Instead, fold it against him; I am a pretty good pretzeler...Winifred...Dept. of Justice; I even got it from the Department, sir. Please, stop it; say listen, the... last night. Sergt. Conlon: Now, don't holler. A: I don't want to holler. Q: What did they shoot you for? A: I don't know, sir; honestly I don't. I don't even know who was with me; honestly. I went to the toilet and when I reached the...the boy came at me. Q: The big fellow gave it to you? A: Yes, he gave it to me. Q: Do you know who the big fellow was? A: No. Schultz: See, George, if we wanted to break the ring. No... please, I get a month. They did it. Come on, cut me off and says you are not to be the in the beneficiary of this will. I will be checked and double-checked and please pull for me. (One of the detectives) We will pull for you. Schultz: Will you pull? Will you pull? These native children make this and sell you the joint. How many good ones and how many bad ones! Please! I had nothing with him; he was a cowboy in one of the...seven days a week fight. No business, no hangout; no friends, nothing; just what you pick up and what you need. Sergeant Conlon: Who was it shot you? Schultz: I don't know. No, don't put anyone near this check; the check. You might have; oh, please. Please do it for me. Let me get up, sir, heh? This is Connie's, isn't it? Uh heh. In the olden days they waited and they waited. Please give me a shot. Please. Oh...Oh...it is from the factory. O.K. Sure, that is bad...well, Oh, go ahead; that happens for crying; I don't want harmony; I want harmony. Oh, mamma, mamma. Who give it to him? Who give it

I've only been here a couple of days...I'll probably just lurk for a while (altho I believe that the authors of fan fic always deserve feedback in order to thank them for their hard work). I want to know EVERYTHING that is happening with the movie 'Serenity', I am so excited about this movie! And I am starting to ship Jayne/River...which kind of freaks me out a bit (but then, I'm sure it would freak them out a bit too!). Never give up! Never give in!

fan film?
Saturday, 27 March 2004 17:29:05

holy crap where have I been? okay - for anyone who cares - I am still working on the fan film, but first I am in pre-production on a horror-thriller called "Asylum Alcatraz" whic is going to be shot entirely on the former prison. Should be cool. Or very very "B" - we'll see... After that, unless I am somehow whisked away to write for "Wonderfalls" I will be back at work on Firely:Orpheus See you round the bend

requesting story help
Saturday, 27 March 2004 21:58:15

Okay, it may be soon or in a couple of weeks, but I'm going to desperately need a beta. Next part of Death By Any Other Name features Zoe alot, and well, I'm finding that I suck at writing her in my opinion. Her dialogue never seems as slangy for the most part as Mal's, but she's not as cultured as Inara or Simon. Also, I know she's pretty respectful towards Mal, but I think in some situations she'd use his first name (and i can never remember to pay more attention during the episodes to tell for certain.). Anyway, if anyone out there feels they have a handle on Zoe and wouldn't mind reading over a draft, let me know. It'll be a plus if you've enjoyed what I've posted so far of the story, but any help will be appreciated.

Non-firefly relatied question for men that i have while not sleeping.
Sunday, 28 March 2004 06:18:21

let me point out that in the last 36 (or more) hours i've had about 3 hours of sleep (and thats a half hour or so at a time, not all at once) due to a 2 day theater trip thing. On this trip thing I found myself sitting in another girls lap because...well...i don't remember why...i just was. This guy comes by and goes "so hot." and begs us to kiss. He even offered money and a few guys pooled their meager amounts of money together to see us kiss. I would have taken it. My freind wouldn't do it though. Not even for money. But thats not the point. The Message of Bonny Portmore
Sunday, 28 March 2004 08:13:53

Hiya, fellow browncoats! Haven't been in in a while (I skipped a whole week) due to family emergencies and work on a first time project of mine. I was sitting at work one day listening to Bonny Portmore on the headphones. That's from Highlander fame for those of you who don't know. Well, technically, Highlander III. But anyway, as I was listening to it visions of dramatic moments from Firefly came into my head. Key moments, really, in slow motion. And suddenly I thought, "This would make a great video." So, since I have no experience in this area I've been working on it with a friend of mine who is experienced in such matters. Matter of fact, it's the same friend who pointed out to me for the first time Firefly reminded him of Cowboy Bebop. It's been quite a circus. I finally realized that trying to take scenes from the entire series was just too big a bite for me to try and chew on my first tasting. Instead, I'm taking scenes from "The Message" and kind of doing a whole 'telling of the story with video and playing it to music and cramming it into six minutes' kind of thing. We've got half of it done so far and I'm very pleased with it. I've been thinking of sending it to Joss himself when we're finally through to get a blessing kind of thing from him. I want it to be clear that I'm in no way trying to get money, infringe on any copyrights, or disrespect the series in any way. I love this show and for the first time in my life I'm doing something creative in this form of medium to try and get a fraction of that across to others. I was wanting to put it here since this is like my home page and all. I'm not sure if the site would accept it. I've never seen any video of any kind here, but I also have a really old and crappy PC that doesn't have video or audio capability. That and I wasn't exactly sure how it would be taken. If it's a success, however, I've already got a follow-up that would focus on the humor and action the same as this one's focusing on the drama. The song's "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth. Well, let me go and try and finish this thing by next week so's that I can be praised or flamed for it. I'm doing my best not to let anybody down. Give me some feedback and let me know what you think of the idea, anyway.

International Firefly Meetup Day

Has anyone else seen the Firefly Meetup site?

I hope Joss reads this!!!! redux

Monday, February 16, 2004 19:10 TIMES READ: 5384 I hope Joss reads this!!!! STATIC Murphy's Second Law of Combat: If your attack is going particularly well, you've walked into an ambush. I know that a couple of people who are not real thrilled that some of us soldier-type guys shout out firefly-isms during combat, and I can honestly understand that. However, I hope that Joss and Tim read this and find it inspiring, and I hope that everyone feels their guts knot up as much as I did. . .and maybe a tear or two will well up in your eyes, as they are streaming down my face just from the telling of this. . . As you all know, I've been a soldier stationed in Afghanistan for quite some time now. Many of you know that I'm posting this from my own home tonight, as I have been permitted to come home for ten days on leave. It's been a very long time since I've been home. I flew from Afghanistan to Frankfurt via military cargo jet (C-17 for those 'in the know'), and the next morning, we got on a commercial flight to Chicago. I got off the plane, grabbed my big-assed duffel bags and prepared to wait in line for customs, and to my delight, the Customs officers were pulling any soldier-types out of line and passing them through, with a pat on the back and a 'welcome home'. I immediately had to re-check my bags for my final flight, and after doing so, I made a beeline outside. I crossed the street and walked into the snow, the first I'd seen since January 2003, and stood at the base of the American Flag for a second before I finally became overwhelmed and fell to my knees. I grabbed a double handful of snow and rubbed it all over my face. When I stood up, I realized there were almost 20 other soldiers with me, all who had the same idea. Most of us didn't know each other at all, but for that moment, we were brothers who had been best of friends all our lives. We decided to head on inside, and one young man, his name was Mike, was still overwhelmed with emotion and could not stand. Another soldier, a friend of his, went to lift Mike, and I took Mike's other arm. Mike smiled weakly and thanked us. Here's where it gets tough to even tell the story, and I hope Joss and Tim read this. . . Mike's friend said, "You know the saying, Mikey. . .when you can't run anymore you crawl. . ." and before he could say anymore, I finished it for him. "And when you can't do that anymore, you find someone to carry you." Mike and his buddy, and about half the guys who were standing there with us all smiled. We looked up at the flag and Mike said, "They didn't take the sky from us." Turns out they were all Browncoats, and they were home from Iraq for good. Joss, Tim and all the rest of you. . .I don't know if you had any idea that what you created would be so powerful, and provide such inspiration for those of us who serve, but it does. Thank you. And to all of you whom I've come to call my friends on this site, thank YOU. Because of your love and support, the 'bad guys' are unable to take the sky from ME. I'M HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ================================================== "Wash. . .we got some local color happening. A grand entrance would not go amiss." Just wanted to give this a chance and see if the down loads are faster!

I don't have anything to write here, this is just a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. Had this been an actual emergency, you'd be running from your computer, screaming bloody murder. Give me a job, Joss. XOXO.

Channeling Whedon too much
Wednesday, 31 March 2004 00:50:08

I was working this afternoon on a fiction project. I was re-reading passages when I noticed my characters said "You're not wrong", "I get that", and "Go get your wayward babe." I didn't even realize I was doing it. I think I need to get my own dialogue.

Firefly Club
Wednesday, 31 March 2004 01:25:09

Joss gets me a job as a waiter, after that Joss's pushing a gun in my mouth and saying, the first step to eternal life is you have to die. For a long time though, Joss and I were best friends. People are always asking, did I know about Joss Whedon. The barrel of the gun pressed against the back of my throat, Joss says, "We really won't die."

Badger
Wednesday, 31 March 2004 01:38:51

I'm just randomly re-watching Firefly from the beginning and I just so picked up on this innuendo that Badger made in 'Shindig'. His line if I can remember is 'Course you couldn't buy an invite with a Diamond the size of a testicle but I got my hands on a couple.' Jayne and Mal just look at each other and start laughing. I didn't even catch that the first time I saw it! I thought that was so funny! Well I'm off again. Keep flyin' folks. P.S. I had to have the captions on before I could even get so LOL It's still to funny!
