Now I feel bad...
Friday, 01 October 2004 15:22:14

Short blog this. I've noticed everytime recently someone's joined us here, they've set up a little thread saying "Hi!". I don't know about anyone else, but I never did that. And now I feel like I was rather impolite not to. Cue guilt. ~END~

Huh
Friday, 01 October 2004 20:03:34

I had a little time to kill today so I decided to start this blog. I gotta say, I'm lovin' this website I've discovered. God, that sounded sickenly reminiscent of a McDonald's ad. Don't get me started. I'm new to the blog business. I doubt anyone will even read this. Oh well. I still haven't sent my sister the Firefly dvds. I can't seem to stop watching them. I've already seen them several times. I just have to take a deep breath and do it. I've got to let it go man. Its like trying to quit smoking. I just tell myself... one more. One more won't hurt. Maybe it'll even purge the fixation. It doesn't help that I've started talking like the Serenity crew. I've never said "ain't" in my entire life and now it slips out entirely unbidden. I gotta say, I kind of like it.

It's all connected

Nope, this isn't a blog about CSI: NY (what kind of tagline is that for a show?). I was in my Humanities class and we've been discussing the Bhagavad Gita for the past couple of days. As part of the course, you have to do a presentation on one of the works before the end of the semester. So today a girl did her presentation on the Bhagavad Gita. The last presentation I could barely keep my eyes open, but something caught my attention this time around. The girl mentioned Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I immediately sat up a bit straighter and raised my hand when the girl asked if anyone was familiar with it. I was sitting at the front of the class so I couldn't see behind me, but it's likely I was the only one who actually cared to rise a hand. Not that it mattered much; it was just a fleeting reference to how Buffy is like Arjuna. Don't worry if you have no idea what I'm talking about, because my prof had no idea either. When the girl was done, he said he wasn't familiar with, and I quote, "Buffy the whatever". I wasn't surprised at his statement, but I think it would have been neat if he had known about Buffy. Anyway, the girl started to explain Buffy's situation on the show and I suddenly just cut in, blurting "She's chosen." I'm not sure if the girl was annoyed, but I started to blab, talking how Buffy and Arjuna are both warriors, it's their destiny to fight evil, and how both were reluctant but finally embraced their duty. What I said hopefully made some sense. I mean, how often does anybody tie in Buffy to a boring presentation? I had to speak up! Now, if only someone would mention Firefly in a lecture...

What should the title be?
Saturday, 02 October 2004 02:45:55

I'm writing a new story about hippie protestors who get captured by terrorists. The terrorists give them mind control drugs, but they don't work because the hippies take so much drugs they are immune. The hippies escape, find some machine guns and begin to battle their way out.... What should the title be? So far, my ideas are: 1. For the Love of Bullets 2. Peace O' Terrorist 3. Smokin' the Enemy I'd appreciate any more ideas. Thanks. EDIT - And each Hippie has a Power! The Massage Therapist Hippie: Capable of rendering a person unconscious with a single touch. The Drug Dealer Hippie: A fast talker, skilled at making a deal. A great gambler. The Scientist Hippie: Possesses knowledge of herbs and natural medicine. Also, knows how to avoid poisonous plants in the jungle. The Yoga Hippie: A master of Pilates and Tai Chi - this Hippie is warrior, but has vowed to NEVER fight. The Musician Hippie: A singer and dancer, scared as hell and just trying to survive.

ID CARDS

I tinkered up an ID card for the Abbey, not sure if I will keep it or work up a different one. I will see if it grows on me. Added 2 more writtings to the web site.

Lost : braincells. If found, please donate to the ABC.com board.
Sunday, 03 October 2004 05:53:37

Oh. My. God. I would just like to take a moment to thank everybody on this board (trolls exclcuded) for being smart. I was bored, so I crused on over to the Lost board on abc.com. My God these people are dumb. There was a tread on the french message that played at the end of the second episode (or the second part of the first episode, however you wanna look at it) and, i kid you not, there was somebody who was like "They went back in time 16 years, and that girl who translated it is the only one left alive, so now she's listening to herself." Ummm ok. So somebody pointed out that this translator girl can't speak french very well. The guy rebukes with "Maybe she hit her head or something and forgot how to speak english." Oh, and the polar bear is apparently no big deal. It floated there on and iceburg and magicly adapted to the tropical climate. Its those pre-historic birds and flying tigers you really gotta worry about. So on that note, I'd like to thank everybody here for, well, for not being stupid. I guess Firefly fans are a special breed all our own. Or at least we managed to graduate from the 8th grade, which is more than I can say about some of the...other...fansites.

I've Recruited Another Browncoat!
Sunday, 03 October 2004 22:45:36

I can't believe it! I've finally brought one of my friends over to the brownside! Last night I had a friend of mine over for dinner, and afterwards he suggested we watch a movie. Since he had seen most of the films I had, I happened to mention I had DVDs of this great show with guns, space ships, and outlaws, and just maybe we should watch that. I started him off with Train Job, figuring I should reel him in quick. When it was over, he wanted to watch another one, so I popped in War Stories (he loved the scene where River shot those three Niska guys). By the time that was over, it was already after ten o'clock, but he stuck around to watch Bushwhacked, too. Anyway, now he's coming over later this week to watch the rest of the eps. I guess I won't be going to see Serenity solo after all!

Well, here I am.
Monday, 04 October 2004 04:27:39

I'm here, I'm obsessed, and I intend to stay that way. Hopefully my schoolwork doesn't suffer too much. This site is just so shiny, I can't help visiting when I should be doing homework. Ah well. I am a browncoat, co co ka choo. Or, whatever.

Going through withdrawals
Monday, 04 October 2004 19:12:46

Nothing here...

Lets try that again
Monday, 04 October 2004 19:19:17

Okay that was dumb. Now I have a blog entry with nothing in it. Oh well. I haven't watched a Firefly episode in over a week. I had to buckle down and do some studying. I don't want to have to explain why I flunked out of grad school to my future children. Now I'm starting to go through withdrawals. I also just bought the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD. Ahhh, the good old days when George Lucas could actually write dialogue. I started smoking again last week. Funerals suck.

SSS... like the S.S., but with another S
Monday, 04 October 2004 21:49:34

I apologize in advance to anyone who believes the Selective Service System (in the U.S.) is a good idea. As unpatriotic as it may sound, the SSS is a bunch of bullshit. Basically, it breaks down like this; if I sign and send it in, I'm eligible for the Draft. I know there hasn't been one in 30 years, but with the way Bush Jr. is running things, who knows? If I'm drafted, then the United States Government owns my physical body for 2-4 years, however long it takes to pound some Patriotism into my head, I guess. I can be sent anywhere and told to do anything, basically. If they want me cleaning up radioactive waste in Russia, or digging ditches in Iraq, nothing's going to stop them from sending me on my way with a few pairs of underwear and some gloves. (Perhaps, if I'm lucky, I'll even get some Commemerative Pens!) However, on the flip side, if I don't sign it, I'm eligible for The Federal Prison System! There, over the course of several years, I can be taught the 'true' meanings of patriotism and democracy. The only upside to that scenario is that, when I get out, Bush won't be president anymore. So, my choices are a bit limited. Sign and chance going to a war that, while I have unlimited respect for those who are directly involved, I feel Bush is NOT the proper man to handle. Or... Don't sign, and while I may not go to prison, I certainly can't get any student financial aid, nor ever get a job within the State, at any level. I now understand why so many people went to Canada during Vietnam. The 'democracy' of the United States has given me a choice, "Serve Blindly or Be Penalized". Good fucking choice. Now... back in reality... I WILL be signing my SSS card, because I'll be going to college next year, and, though I have no doubt I will become rich and prosperous... I'm not yet, and have to apply for financial aid. Politics is like Anthrax. You try to avoid it, but end up getting infected by it through the mail anyhow.

Over!
Tuesday, 05 October 2004 00:34:40

Now that my final exams for this term are over, I can get to more important thing's like finally finishing my fanfic.....which I'm sure, no one will remeber any way:wink: It's been almost a month since my last chapter. Please forgive:smile:. I don't know why I chose to go back to school. I'm a make-up artist and make an okay living doing independent film out of Vancouver, Canada (Jewel Staite's home town). I love my job, and I know that my major in easter religions will come in handy.....some where I need to stop mixing medications:hanged:

What should the title be? Part 2
Tuesday, 05 October 2004 06:15:05

But everything changes when she meets Gary, the former ice skater. A long time ago, Gary fell and hit his head on the ice. He lost all sense of smell. They fall deeply in love. But when a helpful doctor performs a nasal operation, Gary's sense of smell returns. Their true love is suddenly tested as Gary struggles with the most difficult decision of his life. Considering who - Browncoat or Alliance
Tuesday, 05 October 2004 20:09:11

I was thinking about previous commanders and soilders we have head on Sci-fi and I got to wondering. The Alliance and Browncoats represent two differnt, but not so simple Ideals. Alliance - Order, but with an iron fist - The practice of Might makes right. - Concept of the Elite -A strange form of unity Independents - Each to his own, isolated - Relying on yourslelf and yours. - Different rules for different planets kind of thing. So... Alliance or Independents Captain Siso - Alliance / order Captain Picard - Alliance/ Order Captain Kirk - Independents / freedom Tyr - Alliance /better odds of survival Teal'c - Indepedents / freedom etc ... you get the drift

By: Ghoulman ---------- WARNING!!! This thread has bad fuckin' launguage. If you are too fuckin' young for that then fuck off! * * * * * * * * * * * * EXT: MORNING in TRAILER PARK. Wash sits in his doorless old "Go se" car. Mal, ever present glass of rum in hand, approches. Mal: Wash! What the fuck? Wash (wakes up): Fuck. FUCK! What? EXT: Suddenly! Young boys come running up and smash pop bottles into Washes car! Wash: Fuck off! Fuckin' bottle kids! I'll cut your fuckin' throats!!! Mal (like nothing happened): Where's my weed shipment? Wash: Fuck off! I gave it to Jayne and Book to deliver to the new Park Manager. Mal: What? No Wash, you were supposed to fuckin' take it yourself. Jane and Book will just smoke it all themselves. Fuck Wash... what were you thinking? Wash: If they smoke my best bud I'll fuckin'... Zoe (Out of site - Yelling from trailer): WAAASSHH! Where are you? You didn't pass out in that fuckin' car again did you? (mumbles) Fuckin' looser. Wash & MAl: Fuck! Let's bail! EXT: Both get into the rusted black painted car and race away to another corner of the trailer park. They get out at Rivers' shed. River (played by a young girl with giant coke bottle glasses): Two by two... hands of blue... G'day baiz! What the fuck!? Heh heh. See my new kitty? Kitty: Meow. Mal: That's great River, have you seen Jayne and Book? Wash: Fuck River, you got cable hooked up! River: Fuckin' right boys, gots da Sci-Fi channel. I loves dat! 'specially stoned. Wash: Well, no ones gettin' stoned if we don't find Jayne and Book because they got all our fuckin' weed! River: Fuck. That's not good boys. Mal: Come on. EXT: Mal leads River and Wash to another trailer. Mal knocks and immediately a beautiful woman appears... in spike heels and leopard skin. Inara: Wooo... hi Mal. Haven't seen you in a while. Mal: Stop being such a fuckin' slut! We're just looking for Jayne and Book, they got the weed and if we don't... Inara: Well, I haven't seen them and, oh, if I had, I sure as FUCK wouldn't tell you, FUCKHEAD! EXT: Inara slams her metal screen door. It pops open and she has to do it again. It still doesn't close properly and she must force it closed. Mal, Wash, and River look on. Inara: Well fuck off. I haven't seen 'em. EXT: As they walk down from the trailor deck they can see Jayne and Book, carrying a duffle bag, walking down the road... stoned as chinese sailors. EXT: Jayne & Book (singing): I don't care! I'm still freeeee... YOU can't take the weed from meeeeee... Wash: Hey! Hey you dumb fucks where's the fuckin' weed! Mal: Stop screaming! EXT: Jane and Book approch causiously. Wash: Smokes. EXT: Jane and book immediately give Wash one smoke each. Wash lites one, puts the other behind his right ear. Mal (sips rum): OK, let's not get excited. I'm sure Jayne and Book know exactly what happened to the weed. Jayne: The what? Wash: The fuckin' weed you fuckin' retard! The weed you were supposed to get to the new Park Supervisor so he wouldn't rat on us!!! Book: Oh, well he wasn't there. And considering what we were delivering... I think it's best we were a little late. Wash (Smacks Book on the head like slapping a child): Shut the fuck up. Mal: OK, let's get the car and go there right now. Give me the weed. EXT: Jayne hands over the duffle bag. Everyone crawls into the ugly black and rusted Ford. Eventually, through the smoke (both kinds) the trailer park boys arrive at the trailer of the new Park Supervisor. FOX CEO: Hellooo shit fuckers. MAl, Wash, River, Jayne, Book (together): Oh fuck! EXT: Everyone pulls out thier guns... THE END?

The importance of having a plan.
Wednesday, 06 October 2004 17:56:28

The rain is different in October. We've had a very wet summer but the rains have been plesant. The storms these days generally have less thunder and more cut-to-the-bone cold. That with the brilliant change in leaves makes me really notice my surroundings. One becomes reflective... sometimes moody. Next week promises to be a busy one. School generally monopolizes my free time but, next week being special, I've got a mid-term due. A pair of final projects will be following closely on the heels of halloween. The presentation of the legal process involved int he Mcveigh case is exciting. You get a change in venue, appeals, plenty of amici briefs, etc. Next week also marks my last week in my current position. I've leaving the computer support world and moving into building supervision. It's an exciting change though concensus seems to be there is more knowledge to gain in the construction of a house than found in your average doctorate program. This means I'll be spending sixty hours a week at work. Sixty hour work week and three graduate level classes. I've always felt that I can do nearly anything if it's just for a few months... now can I do it well. I'd rather not lose the new job or fail any of my classes. This Saterday is also my dad's 60th birthday. He's always been a work horse. Somehow he managed to get three kids through college (with the help of loans) and keep the day to day expenses met. Pretty impressive for a produce man. Sure, a high paying job makes these things manageable, but if you put in the hours and maintain focus on your plan you can manage minor miricles. I don't know why I'm not more bothered about the dauting task set before me. I'm always a little more Taoist in the fall I guess. In a sick way I'm enjoying myself. No time is wasted. There are no social conflicts or regrets about how I spend my days. I'm doing it. The tiredness, and frustration come and go, but I am accomplishing life goals. The day things start paying off is getting close and I feel like I'm just hitting my stride. Sadly this will mean less Firefly, nor will I be able to daily check this site. Between losing time here and time at the bar I'm not certain my sanity will keep this rosey, intact feeling. Clear skys all, Dan

Another one bites the dust
Thursday, 07 October 2004 16:48:06

I hate Thursdays. I feel like I have a giant axe looming over my head. That axe's name is Dr. Lawson. She's a sadist I think. On a brighter note, I found a cool t-shirt on the zazzle website. It says, "NO POWER IN THE 'VERSE CAN STOP ME!" I hope it gets here soon so I can wear it to that devil woman's class. Maybe it'll give me the little emotional umph I'm going to need to prevent a nervous breakdown. Oh, and I'm also going to part with Kris in Massaunuten this weekend. I knew there was a reason I woke up this morning.

Off to travel the world. . .
Thursday, 07 October 2004 22:50:42

Gee It's been awhile since I've done one of these things. I actually have something excting to write about for once. I am off to travel the world for the next 4 days. Actually, I am just going to Chicago, but I have never been so I am verrrrrrrrrry excited!!! (And as much as I am loving the new show LOST... I'm kind of wishing I hadn't started watching just before going on a plane>> eeK!) I must admit I am a little worried. How am I going to curb my FF withdrawl in all those days? Oh well, I suppose that I will survive somehow. I will miss this site and all you fine, wonderful people. See ya soon. MAI

A Free Moment....

Man, there's nothing like getting stuck planetside trying to help and old friend pull the power unit from his ship. These things log thousands of hours in the black and build up all sorts of crud! So my buddy's got this transport unit a little newer than mine...a 69-K64...and we're just about ready to lift the power unit, but there's the one gorram bolt that won't back all the way off. Drove us out of our frellin' minds! Long story short, we borrowed some tools from a friend of his down in the gravity well and got the unit out okay. Now to replace the throw-out bearing, get the unit back in, test fire it, and get ourselves back out into the black! -UO

Bad day
Saturday, 09 October 2004 18:27:50

I am having a crap day today. My car broke down on the way to the airport. I know vandalism is wrong, but I don't think they can nail you for beating up your own car, right? Stupid piece of go-se. It'll take a hot bath, fuzzy socks, and at least two episodes of Firefly to make me feel normal.

All, Buffy and Angel and Firefly Fans! Aw hell, anyone who wants to read this!

If you like seeing the supernatural getting is ass kicked, and if you love humor, then I highly suggest seeing Shawn of the Dead! (Rated R, Now Playing) I saw it yesterday evening, and it was about the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. If you don’t know what the movie is, then I’ll give you a basic synopsis of it. Englishman Shawn goes through life day by day with nothing really exciting happening. He has girl problem, his loser friend Ed is trashing Shawn’s place (and life), and his life is going no where. Then, a strange Virus starts turning the people around Shawn and Ed into zombies! He and Ed must pick up his girlfriend and mom, and get to the safest place in town; the local pub. Thrills and spills ensue. A common thread between Shawn of the Dead, and Firefly, is that even the most down to earth people can become BDH’s. I recommend this movie to anyone and everyone (Who doesn’t mind a good old fashioned Horror/slasher/comedy film)! iRiver

Interesting opposition about the themesong:
Sunday, 10 October 2004 00:17:02

I didnt write it, but I think its written well: Okay, I really did enjoy Buffy: The Musical, but that doesn't mean that Joss Whedon should go around writing theme songs. In fact, after hearing the theme song for Firefly, I'm going to insist that he stop. Now. Twangy guitar and fiddle music plays as a man sings about how "they" can take his land and all sorts of important stuff away from him, but nobody can "take the sky away" from him. "You can't take the sky from me" is repeated over and over again as the credits show the typical cast list of our intrepid would-be anti-heroes in action. Fine, I can't take the sky away from him, but if I can get my hands on that guitar, at least I won't have to hear about it. I enjoy laughing at those that I disagree with. This is a good anti-firefly comment. I disagree completely (especially after hearing several hundred people sing it at Dragoncon).

:censored: computer! I am ready to kill my computer. It's been having the hiccups lately, y'know, stuff not working like it should be. It was sent in for repairs last week, and my god it was weird not having internet access, and I finally got it back today. Much to my dismay, Microsoft Word still isn't opening. But that's not the fun part. I lost my Firefly fic! :pissed: Like, 15 pages and I wasn't even done. I thought I had managed to save it on a disk but that copy isn't working. Blargh. I'm just too lazy to try writing it out again. I think it's time for a new computer.

What am I going to do?!
Sunday, 10 October 2004 06:00:10

I was SO planning on being Inara for Halloween. . . and now that dream seems to be fading into oblivion. Not having a clear sense of what costume I could pull off in a short amount of time, having no time to put it together, is also being battled by the fact that one of my browncoat quartet decided not to participate, the hwoon dahn. *sigh* This I shall overcome. My friends and I are planning on dressing up to go see the movie when it comes out, though. We're gonna look crazy, being the only Browncoats in the area, going to a movie theatre that never has dress up premieres. . . . . It'll be wild! I hope no one chickens out! Peace out! Homeless, Jobless and in a New City... so Why am I Happy?
Sunday, 10 October 2004 08:39:29

What a weekend! Thursday I picked up Rod at the airport and we packed for a while until meeting other friends for dinner. Can't say enough about the help he's given me, flying up to help me pack and drive down and all... (But since he reads my ramblings now, I'm not going to give his ego any more nourishment or it'll expand to the size of Kansas.) After dinner we went to see Shaun of the Dead... if you enjoy the English sense of humor at all, you've got to see this thing! Best zombie movie I've seen since...um, since... ok, I'm not a big zombie movie fan, but this is a good one. (Let's just say that zombies have never impressed me as supernatural bad-guys. I mean, you could wake up in the morning, see a zombie on your front lawn while getting the paper, have breakfast, shower, respond to e-mail and bake cookies before the damned thing got to the front door. As for how dangerous they are, you could manually insert bullets into this thing with a hammer before it decided that you were worth chewing on.) Go see it! Friday, Kris came over and helped us load my stuff into the moving van. You know, it's funny. I was actually worried that the truck I rented might be too small for the anount of stuff I had, but when it came down to it, I could have gotten the next smaller size down and still had room for a Thai family to settle in. Still, I'm kind of relieved since I've been trying to live a simpler life and off-load some of the "stuff" I've accumulated. After we finished with the truck, I took Kris and Rod with me to see Megan Slankard perform at the Espresso Garden. We met a couple of other friends there and had a blast listening to this 21 year old just knock our socks off with her music! She was soooo good that it's totally astounding that she hasn't been "discovered" yet! She has 2 CD's out that she produced herself with one other person. I talked to her about getting permisson to use her song "Dirty Wings" in our movie, "Finding Love for Annie". She was flattered at being asked and happy at the prospect. Rod promised to send her a copy of the script and got her to autograph one of the CD's "To ANNIE, Good Luck Finding Love. - Megan Slankard". She is just too cool for words... (blatant plug: www.meganslankard.com) After the concert, Rod and I finished tossing a few more things into the truck, loaded up my car onto the trailer, and hit the highway at 1:30 in the morning. The sky was rich with stars and we talked about a little of everything as we drove. Our plans are so damned ambitious but at least they're matched by our enthusiasm. Swear to god, we're like a couple of kids getting ready for summer camp! We made it about halfway down to San Diego before succumbing to the tiny gravity wells that were dragging at our eyelids. After an hour or so of restless sleep (And who really sleeps well sitting upright in a non-reclining car seat?) we got up and watched the rest of the dawn before saddling up and hauling out. Finally made SanD by about 2:30 where Rod's wife, Denise, made us lunch and sent us to separate rooms to catch up on sleep. I slept about five hours and Rod caught about eight. I'm actually stealing time on his computer while they sleep since I've been cut off from the Internet since from Thursday when my job finally, officially, blessedly ended. Speaking of being cut-off, I never really realized how dependent I've become on my internet fix. Without being able to post, read or check up on news, I've felt a little weird... so this is what withdrawls are like? Well, I won't be able to move into my new apartment for another day or so. (The carpets need cleaning.) So I find myself homeless, jobless and carrying my belongings around in a 15 foot Penske moving van. (Something about this sounds vaguely like a country-western song...) But I'm here and ready to start my new life. Now I just have to figure out where I put the damned key to the padlock on the van... Dirty Wings - Megan Slankard

Piece of go-se
Monday, 11 October 2004 19:26:22

The problem with my car turned out to be the axl. I hit a curb about a year back and now its come back to haunt me. On a brighter note, my Firefly shirt just got here yesterday. I've been wearing it proudly. My little brother teased me about that. What does he know...he watches Teen Titans. Of course I usually watch it with him, but that is not the point. Anyway, now that my little mini-crisis is over, I can focus on more important things. Like the life-size statue of Nathan Fillion carved entirely out of cheese. It's going to be (sniff, sniff) so beautiful. On a completely different not of suck...Christopher Reeve just died. This really upset me. I grew up watching the Superman movies. I don't think they should announce that kind of thing over the radio. I was driving and everything.

Upon a second viewing I realise....
Monday, 11 October 2004 23:11:45

I don't watch Firefly a whole lot because I used to be obsessed with The X-Files, watchin' it everyday and all and despite it being my fave show at the time - I got so gorram sick of it! There really is such thing as too much of a good thing. Upon a second viewing of all the Firefly episodes (with the exception of Bushwacked and The Message atm) I realise: Jayne is an ok character after all, pretty funny too YoSafBridge is still bloody annoying which leads us to... Trash is now my least favorite episode (it used to be Our Mrs Reynolds but I changed my mind after view #2 of both) Serenity really is better than The Train Job Jaynestown is really good, surprisingly Heart of Gold is a bit underrated, it's awesome The whore in HoG really shouldn't have shot someone with a baby in her arms, just don't seem right All the jokes are still damn funny I have a better appreciation of Book Firefly is still better than Buffy and Angel, though I like 'em both heaps Firefly really is a show that is up for many, many viewings 14 episodes just ain't enough *sigh*

Driver's Ed
Tuesday, 12 October 2004 21:35:49

Okay, here's the situation. I've already taken Driver's Ed, I've gotten probably close to if not past 24 hours of driving time (I need a total of forty) and I have my own car. My dad has been saying for the past three or four months that he's not going to lie about my hours. Yesterday we go out driving in the morning since it was Columbus day and I had the day off (woo-hoo!) and so did he. I stalled twice (my car's a stick) when doing the three-point turn and then I couldn't parallel park. Basically at that point (the parallel park) I started crying and dad started yelling. The thing is, he is now willing to lie about my Driving Record and say that I got all of my hours. All I have to do is pass my test... who agrees with me that my dad has suddenly gone psychotic? Or, for those of you who know me, has finally been taken back to our home planet and had his human counterpart replaced on this earth? Thanks in advance for the advice... man I wish I could just jump into the Firefly 'verse and get a pilot's license, then I would seriously be able to disappear!

Dance, puppet! Dance!!
Wednesday, 13 October 2004 04:22:59

Dance, little puppet! Always did she mock me. Always did she doubt my power, my control. Now she is moving as my will. All things fall as I have foreseen. YoSafBrigLee has made the mistake of seeking my advice. And she moves along the path I have pointed. And though no outward sign is given, I laugh. Darkly I laugh as the world opens to the path I have given. MWAHAHA!

Observations on Newer Transports
Wednesday, 13 October 2004 14:48:54

So I'm still stuck spending a little time planetside lately, but I'm trying to make the best of it. With not much to do 'cept sit on my hands (hey, it's cold in the mornings) I've been staying down at the space docks watching other transports come and go. And I tell ya, many of these newer transports are just too over the top! Bigger than they need to be, more powered than they need to be, just ships that are too complex! I mean, hell, even some of these transports made during the war (anything after about '07) is just too over-engineered! Take my "Riviera" for example. It's over 50 years old (series time)...it was made back in '67! It's simple. It's graceful (if only in design). I can work on it. I mean, that's independence, people! Having a transport that you can fix on the fly instead of getting stuck going somewhere and paying more credits than you have to get something simple fixed! Okay, so my transport rides rougher'n a newborn bronco as I'm coming into atmo'. Feels kinda like riding a mule with the seats mounted just over the front suspension. But if I get stuck on some backwater moon and my navigation goes out, I can get in there and under things and fix it myself! And dang, these transports are so old and so few that the Alliance isn't even regulating the size of our power units nor our emissions while in atmo'. Yeah, sure the Independents lost the war, but we're still out there doing our thing and giving our proverbial fingers to the winners. ;) -UO

HELP!! does anyone speak french and englsih?!?!?!
Wednesday, 13 October 2004 23:46:45

None the less we had a fight and today I got a note saying "moi" I don't know what it means and I'm not sure I want to talk to him until I know if I'm supposed to be mad or not still! Help!!!

Website Questions
Thursday, 14 October 2004 02:51:37

So anyway, someone had mentioned that I should put the "Serenity Park" comic on a website instead of posting them here. Well, I am actually considering doing this but there are a few problems. 1) Well, I'm kinda embarrassed to admit this, seeing as how I’m a junior majoring in Software Engineering, but I’ve never set up a website before and know only the basics of the process. I’ve tinkered in designing sites, but never setting one up. 2) Seeing as I’m in college, I lack one very important thing: money. So paying for web hosting is out, and that means I have to set up a free site somewhere, thought I don’t want one that will bombard people with pop-ups and ads. So, if anyone could suggest a good free web hosting site, or just give me suggestions/advice on setting up a site, I would greatly appreciate it. Just on the setup though, I’ve got the design part covered.

I'm going to the special hell
Thursday, 14 October 2004 17:00:59

:fork: I seem to have become completelty addicted to Jaylee! (Jayne/Kaylee) I think I've read just about every fic out there! My favorite so far is the "Survial Guide" Series. I'm think I'm going to suffer Fic withdrawl if I can't find some more, or maybe your fanfic writers so get a crack'n on writ'n some more Jaylee! And remember the naughtier the better! :smokin: Okay I'm done rambling for now, I'm sure I'll ramble some more later. Jaylee Forever! Simon/Kaylee NEVER! :bash:

Opening Business
Thursday, 14 October 2004 17:57:57

Allright, so I've been running goods under the noses of the Alliance for some time now. I figured it was finally time to go public...well, somewhat public. I don't have any products up there yet, but I will by this evening. I've adopted the name of a business my great-great-grandpappy had back on the Earth-That-Was: NorCalRiviera Industries. And the fine folks over at Cafe Press have offered to host my little storefront while I run all over creation deliverin' stuff. Check it out on the Cortex at

Nothing here...

double urgh!
Thursday, 14 October 2004 21:38:19

That is the second time I've accidentally made blog with nothing in it. I could just pretend I did on purpose. How avant garde. Anyway, I have two huge papers due on Tuesday. There goes my weekend. And to add insult to injury, I now owe my dad $500. He is using it to make me cooperate. I have to be extra nice and do all the dishes. Damn it all to the special hell! I hate doing dishes. On a completely different note: On the off chance that anyone is reading this, does anyone know when the Farscape miniseries starts? I've been waiting and waiting.

Firefly: a 12 step program for withdrawal
Thursday, 14 October 2004 23:22:59

step 1: Admitted you were powerless over decisions made by Fox executives. step 2: Came to believe that Joss could restore our faith in mass media. Or at least get a movie out to us. AND have a reeaalllly long gag reel on the Serenity DVD when it comes out. step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Joss as we understood him. step 4: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of the tv listings. step 5: Admitted to God, ourselves and everyone on FFF.net the exact nature of Fox's wrongs. step 6: Were entirely ready to have Joss remove the defects (if any) of the movie during editing and post production. step 7: Humbly asked Joss to let Mal be nekkid at least once in the BDM. step 8: Made a list of all persons who have not seen Firefly and became willing to tie them up if need be to..."introduce" them to the show. step 9: Made direct converts of such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. And maybe even then, if necessary. step 10: Continued to do guerilla marketing techniques in Best Buy, Borders Books, Circuit City and assorted video rental outlets, and when the DVD was hidden away, promptly displayed it at eye level. step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our freakish knowledge of every iota of each episode so as to win the Firefly trivia contests at each shindig. step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry The Message (and all the other episodes) to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. While simultaneously attempting to actually live a life, work and pay bills when possible.

Even in the cold of space....
Friday, 15 October 2004 02:39:43

there's always warmth onboard Serenity. After watching War Stories, I was struck (again) at the 'companionship' that can be found between the Captain and his motley crew. Aside from the whole big Saving-Mal-from-Niska thing...I was reminded how each crew memeber really does care for each other..... Book's reassuring Simon that he's STILL not shot anyone, Capt's reaching out and holding Kaylee's hand as he walks past her as she sits on the stairs, Jayne loading Vera and looking down at the rest of the crew.. ."What?". Does the love ever stop ? Hee hee.

Shiny!!
Friday, 15 October 2004 04:09:43

Ok, so I watched Firefly when it first came on and fell in love with it. So I was cruising the store the other day, and what do I see? The DVD set. So I had known is was on DVD, but hadn't purchased it. Yikes! I have been missing this. Oh if only I were some sort of actress and was cool enough to be on this show. So yeah. It's a love story on this end. Pretty exciting about the movie and people getting to meet the cast and all. Come on out to Oahu guys...I'll show you a good time!

MAI
Amazon helping convert FF fans!
Friday, 15 October 2004 07:15:31

First let me state: I do not work for Amazon, but I think someone who does is one of us!!! I was perusing the dvd section at amazon.com to kill some time and I found something worth relaying to all of you. If you buy FF with the first season of Roswell (and maybe some others, I'm not sure) you get 5.00 off your order! I am a fan of both shows (much mor so with FF) so I thought maybe some of you were as well. Even if you didn't like Roswell its a great excuse to get another copy of FF dvds. (If your like me, you first set is about worn out from my zealous over playing). Just go to amazon.com and type in Firefly and you can see for yourself. Mai

On the road again!
Friday, 15 October 2004 15:31:56

We are in Kentucky...doing the road trip thing with the in-laws. Ewok is sitting next to me at another library computer checking out all the new images of firefly/serenity art...we miss home, Coffeewench (Gingi) and the animals...mostly miss coming online to visit with FF friends and family! Somebody from the OB let everyone in 'loon know we are still kickin'! *grin*

Ode to Juliet
Friday, 15 October 2004 16:50:57

After promising my sister for the last month that I would send her my copies of the Firefly series, I've decided that I just can't part with it. I'll just buy her one of her own for Christmas. I will send her last years Halloween costume though. She'll make a lovely Juliet. After all, she is Juliet. I want to go as a reaver. Reavers are scary mfers. I'm not quite sure how I would mutilate my flesh without actually hurting myself. I know they have fake skin out there, I just don't know how to use it. Then there's the fact that I've never actually seen a full-blown reaver. Yeah, there's the guy in the Bushwacked episode, but I think he was just getting started on the scary. There was a lot more scary to be had. Ah, screw it, I'll just go as Juliet. I made a lovely Juliet.

Ten Reasons Why I Love Firefly.
Friday, 15 October 2004 21:22:39

(in no particular order) Mal Reynolds. Firefly begins and ends, for me, with Captain Tightpants. I love his richness as a character, his contradictions, his pain, his humour, his connections to his crew. The 'Serenity' teaser slays me every time -- his broken stare. His doubts and tenacity in spite of them. "You can't take the sky from me," indeed. I tend to, on average, get about five minutes into an episode before declaring to my mother with a grin that ‘I love my Captain!’ There is so much about him that I could say that I’m certain has already been said. I'm just going to note him here and possibly write a 'reasons why I love Mal' post soon, instead. The philosophies. The existentialism, the independence, the civil disobedience. Shades of grey, allusions to piracy and Robin Hood. Elements of Buddhism as I understand it; the Noble Truths. "If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do." A line from Angel, and it resonates all through Firefly. The search for meaning, belonging and identity. Yes. Inara Serra. Another character whom I could write pages upon pages about. Inara, like Tara on Buffy, is a character who focuses upon other people with tenderness and compassion, and lets that define her. The Madonna and the whore all in one -- horae, the sacred prostitute -- she is Mal's foil, parallel and opposite in a way that colours all their interactions with such meaning that I can't help but root for them every single time. I’m sure I’ll write more on Inara soon, too… The writing. Kind of a no-brainer for a Joss Whedon show, but the quality of the writing never fails to awe me. The poetry, the humour, the resonance. Joss always seems to invert that which you're expecting and, ultimately, leave things in a way that is so much more satisfying. I don't know if I even could narrow a list of my favourite quotations down. River Tam. Her story stands incomplete, like the show's. Neither River nor Firefly were done becoming what they could become. She suffered, had her eyes opened and was learning to cope with what she saw, to transcend it. Her way of looking at the world had been altered, and she offered an alternative way for the audience to see things for a while, too. The cinematography & the whole 'look' of the show. Lens flares, unusual lighting, the imagery. The fused cultures. Surprising visuals, like Inara giving Book benediction. Little details, like Kaylee's strawberries, Badger's apple peeler. The way things are shot -- the way the camera stops in the sponge bath scene, for example. River!vision in 'Objects in Space'. Simon Tam. Simon as Intellect, Simon as Selfless Love; both of these can be argued and supported by the series. The Buffy & Dawn protect-your-sister arc rewritten with higher stakes, deeper resonance and more truth. However, Simon was also a snarky bitch and eye candy. Wheels within wheels -- classic Whedon. The humour. Wash and the dinosaurs. Mal's cruel joke upon Simon in 'Serenity.' 'Jaynestown.' So many little moments in episodes that can otherwise make you think, or break your heart. Joss and company are absolute masters at using humour to underscore what they're saying while giving you a reprieve from it. The entire crew of 'Serenity'. I've highlighted four characters here, but truly I love them all. It's an ensemble show, and, possibly for the first time, I love every regular. I love how they interact, how human they all are, and how they each show up each other's humanity. I love Mal & Zoe's absolute trust. I adore the complicated but loving marriage between Wash and Zoe. I love her quiet strength and his manic energy. I love Jayne, the unrepentant asshole. I love how he interacts with the Tams. I love Kaylee's crush on Simon -- even though I don't think the two of them would get far together. I love Book and the mystery of him, I love how he interacts (especially)

The Continuing Chronicles of Ness and Her Computer
Friday, 15 October 2004 21:51:55

God Bless Google! If I knew how to do the icon with the beer glasses I would insert it and raise a glass to the search engine. Mentioned in my last blog I was about ready to kill my computer or, as someone suggested, throw it out a window. Microsoft Word wasn't working even after I sent out for repairs. I know Word doesn't seem like a big huge thing to be without, but when you have essays out the pee goo to write you tend to rely on the stupid application. I should have turned to Google sooner. I typed in "Microsoft Word troubleshooting" and got this amazing site that suggested a couple of methods I could try. And one worked! Word isn't exactly fixed, I still can't open it through the start menu or the icon, but hey, I got it to run. That deserves a happy little dance from me. But here's the best part: I got my Firefly fic back! While in the process of trying to fix Word I found a bunch of back-up files. After clicking on a couple I found copies of my fic. They don't match up with what I had saved before my computer lost its sanity, but one was close enough and I was planning on rewriting the latest part anyway. Now I can resume my attempt at a half decent Firefly fic.

A Note To Everyone Here . . . .
Saturday, 16 October 2004 07:06:06

Tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell your pet rock. . . . NEVER, I repeat, NEVER drink coffee late at night. . . . no matter HOW friggin cold you are! DON'T DO IT! RESIST THE STARBUCKS! BEWARE! BEWARE! NO MATTER HOW COLD YOU GET IN YOUR TANK TOP WITH AN EVENING BREEZE BATTERING AWAY. . . DON'T GIVE IN! *gets off of soap box* Now that I've covered that. . . . Just saw Shaun of the Dead. It was the funniest movie I think I've ever seen! Gory as Hades, but FUNNY! I demand those who haven't to go see it! Oh, and another thing that I will resist ranting about: If you're a guy who is greying and has a ponch belly and look like you could be close to my dad's age. . . Don't try a pick up line on me. I don't care how old you think I look. You're still too old for me and it gets me kinda creeped. So just back away and resist the temptation to stare and grin at me to the point where I have to leave the store without making my purchase. (Let's just say. . . it was an interesting night. . . . icky. . . .) Peace out. STAY AWAY FROM COFFEE! SerenitysRiver

I removed the Fanfic Award Parody which had been hit by the troll. All my other stories have been protected by code hopefully so there should be no problems. Let me know if anyone has problems with them in case I typed a number wrong.

Sunday, 17 October 2004 00:16:39

The frigging troll struck again. Do not look at my previous blog. Errgggghhhh...me thinks anonymous posting needs to be disabled

Exercise Caution in clicking on this and all blogs!!
Sunday, 17 October 2004 00:30:18

Gorram Troll is posting rampantly in the blogs. Hit the last two of mine in a row so am assuming he could strike here as well. He also has registered w/ a username so I'm guessing discussions might be unsafe as well. Use caution if kids are in the room. I sent Haken the username of said troll.

I can belive that some a## decited to call me alince what the gullramin hell is what with that.

I know everyone is complaining today, so I'm joining the grand ole hootenanny. . . .
Sunday, 17 October 2004 03:11:40

I hope that Troll goes and gen hou zi bi diu shi. That was a really sh***ty thing to do. I certainly hope s/he stops. Attacks like this are pointless. They are senseless and immature. Unprovoked, unnecissary attacks like this make him/her seem, in my oppinion, the scummiest, slimiest, most unworthy of the gift of life creatures in the 'verse. (And I'm usually a nice person who doesn't go after people who annoy me.) This was just too low. I'd understand it if they actually had a point to make in all of this. There was none, though. And, either way, given the gruesome content posted today, it would be, and is, unforgivable.

Almost there...
Monday, 18 October 2004 17:48:13

I'm almost done with my two papers. I'll be glad when this week is over. I shouldn't say that. It's only Monday. I watched the Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars last night. I know this has nothing to do with Firefly, but I was so happy. I actually thought they were going to end the whole series by killing off the two main characters, I was so pissed off. I love Ben Browder. You should have seen me sitting there eating popcorn in my bathrobe with my eyes glued to the tv set. Family members would just walk by me and roll their eyes. I also noticed that there is some sort of convention going on off of I-95. That is not that far from here. I want to go. Jewel Staite(sp?) is going to be there. Shiny!

birthday
Monday, 18 October 2004 19:29:22

I'm spending the wild and crazy day getting caught up on my homework sense my date last weekend (who happened to blow me off after I got there from a five houre drive) yea. I sent him a lovely email in chinese. (I only know the bad words) Hey there if anyone reading this, is there a good reason to blow off your friend on her birthday after she spent six weeks planning to see you and you said you were free and could visit and such? and am I justified in calling him a Hwoon Dahn? Wow! sorry to be so grumpy. well back to my homework.

Really cool people
Monday, 18 October 2004 21:35:39

There are many very cool people here (not just because they watch Firefly either) more people have told me Happy birthday here than at school, it's just cool how people work here. we all talk about something we love (Joss' mind :D)and just get along so well. Thanks for the b-day wishes. I'll stop talking now. :)

Trans-U History
Tuesday, 19 October 2004 00:35:50

In a recent conversation with another Firefly fan, the topic of the Reaver ship, the Trans-U was brought up. We started talking about the origins of it and its history since then. Here is what we found. The Trans-U Was originally called something else when it was first built around 2100. The company that built it was Boeing (just before they branched off into many smaller companies). The Reaver ship we see is actually about ¾ shorter than the original Trans-U used to be. When it was first built, it was used for space tourism, and little bit of exploration. And so it remained, evolving along with the space exploration, going to other planets. Then around 2230, space cruise ships (like in the Evesdown docks) started to take over the Trans-U jobs, so it was set to use for mining and other transportation of goods. They played a key role in the Tera-forming of the outer rim planets. But better and better ships started to push the Trans-U out farther and farther from the core. The time now is about 2315 C.E. at about this same time, you start to see the development of space smuggling and piracy. These bandits are what will become the future Independence faction. From these bandits sprung a small group of extremely ruthless mercenaries, who took whatever ships they could, and got as far out as possible where there were only mining outposts and orbiting junkyards. Like unsupervised children, they grew more and more ruthless, and started using less and less logic. Taking random parts from the orbiting junkyards, these Savages started to pull apart ships and create new ships which were a collection of random parts, with core containment or not. The time now is 2370. The Trans-U is now almost completely eradicated from professional and commercial use. Border moons are the prime users of the Trans-U. Only two were documented to be used in the war between the Aligned Planets and the Independent Factions (and those were for blockade runners). The border mercenaries now known as Reavers took a liking to the hulks of Trans-U’s that were being dumped into the orbiting ship yards, because of their rugged construction, their size, and the ability to easily modify them. This is the history that we came up with. what do you think of it?

Why is October so foul?
Wednesday, 20 October 2004 20:26:57

You know, I can go along an entire year with bad things not happening directly to me, but when it turns to October, my life turnse to go-se. I have had really bad break-ups, the kind that force you to move out. Double blow outs in the same week. A bad business trip that escalated from 3 days easy time to 10 days of working 20 hours per day. New girls leading me on for a few days before flaking out. whole days spent at MVD for a replacement driver's license. Lost luggage. But this year's is worse than the past 3. My grandmother has been in the hospital for 2 weeks because the cancer that they thought they had gotten has gotten into her brain making her forget and making her hallucinate, and she's got a blood clot from her shin up into her thigh. My parents had cancer burned off of them, My cat died. I am completely out of cash, until the 29th, meaning that I can't even afford gas unless I sell something, and forget about buying food. Luckily I have some food at my house. I've gone stag to several weddings in October only to find out that no single females were invited. which is only a minor annoyance. My birthday was yesterday. I spent it alone, because everyone else was busy. And when I came in to work today, I got busted on things that are not my fault and out of my control. The only bright point lately was that the Farscape mini series was on and it was so good. Not that anyone gives a carp, but I had to blow off some anger at October.

Sorry for the delay!
Wednesday, 20 October 2004 22:38:33

Life has gotten in the way of finishing my fanfic. I'm sorry for the delay and I hope to have the next chapters up soon. Thanks for your patience.

Is It November Yet?
Thursday, 21 October 2004 14:57:22

Gorramit, is it November yet? All I'm hearing over the comms these days are hate-ads and slanderous remarks from one candidate to the next. Proposition This, Vote Yes on That! So and so fought for this, such and such didn't fight but says he did. Gawd! It's all Alliance when you look at it; really, it's a matter of who do you hate more. Whoever you hate more, vote for the other guy. And what's with these armchair pundits filling the outskirts of the comm bands with a bunch of misinformed go-se about one guy or the other? Get over it. You can either keep yer trap shut and do yer votin' duty, or you can open it and make the rest of us point out that your mouth keeps moving and that ya might want to see to that. *Sigh* Makes me glad I'm out on the rim now. Doesn't mean that I don't jab back at those filling the comms, just means I get even more surly in my answers. Stirring the pot. It's what I do. ;) -UO

Where's Donald Trump when you need him?
Thursday, 21 October 2004 22:01:01

I'm so screwed right now. I lost my boss's necklace. I was supposed to get it cleaned, but I spaced out (theres a big surprise) and didn't do it. Now I don't know what happened and I looked everywhere. You know, it's pretty sad when you watch that movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and you can completely relate. Ugh! I'm praying that it didn't have sentimental value, because if it did...my butt is so fired. Anyone need a nanny in the DC area?

Sometimes life hands you a lemon . .
Thursday, 21 October 2004 22:48:17

Sometimes life hands you a lemon, and you find a group of people who can give you a little bit of sugar to turn it into lemonade. I think the community on this board is so great and so supportive of each other it is truly a wondrous thing. I think that everyone should take a moment to realize that they are very good people. They may not be having the best day imaginable, but when you hear someone else's story, you chime in with good feelings. I know that this is not something I strictly need in my life, but the community and the camraderie is something I want there. So, I guess when I'm feeling down, I'll remember the immortal words of Jayne, "Far as I see it, You people have been given the shortest end of a stick ever offered a human soul in this crap-hill 'verse... But you took that end, and you, you know... Well... You took it. And that's... I guess that's somethin'."

Thanks!

First of all, a big thanks to zark and gojiro for the support during my mini-crisis. I never found the necklace. I finally got up the nerve to tell my boss, though. I was braced for a big scene, so when she started laughing, I didn't know whether to laugh with her or just melt into the floor. Apparently she has no attachment to the necklace and I was makin' a fuss over nothing. Boy do I feel sheepish. :\

Pushing further out into the Black...
Saturday, 23 October 2004 14:48:30

Okay, so its just the internet, but I am venturing into more uncharted territory for me anyway. As of today, I've added a Cafe Press site to my list of fan created products and ideas.

Dallas Comic Con - Day 1
Sunday, 24 October 2004 06:00:17

We have *the* *

Huh.
Sunday, 24 October 2004 19:27:28

A few weeks ago, I wrote off to Joss to ask permission to run the Firefly video room at CoastCon. And to unashamedly beg for stuff. Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call last week from Mutant Enemy... I can run the video room , but they had nothing to send. :disappointed: Guess $1.95 wasn't enough to ship the Cap'n from LA to New Orleans, huh?

Concestently spradic
Monday, 25 October 2004 00:07:29

I have a big Bio test Monday. I think I've got most of the stuff down but I get nervous about taking tests. Well it's been a week since my birthday. am I supposed to feel differently? I don't know, maybe I do. I don't really have anything to say, just feelin' like talkin' I don't talk very much during the weekend. Watched 4 discs of CSI today. (that's sad isn't it?) Oh and I painted two replacs of a human heart from my bio book(instead of cramming) It's been a busy and unproductive day.

Mile Hi Con: Were you there?
Monday, 25 October 2004 03:13:05

Did anyone go to Mile Hi Con in Denver this weekend? If you did, did you go to the Worlds of Joss Whedon thing? I did. I was wearing a Ramones shirt, and was sitting in front. For those of you who weren’t there, it was pretty cool. If you went to either, I would love to hear from you. What did you think of it? iRiver

Taryn and Becca's Day-O-Fun
Monday, 25 October 2004 18:39:18

Becca hurt her arm today, so we are going to spend the whole day hanging out. I'm excited. She's excited too, even if she won't show it. Then I'm going to carve my pumpkin. Not a bad day, all in all.

DALLAS COMIC CON - DAY 2
Monday, 25 October 2004 18:47:42

So I had the great entry actually written last night and my computer bluescreens :pissed: ANYWAY - second day was shorter and still fun. Saw a lady who had bought a Slim's t-shirt on Saturday walk by wearing it today. Many thanks to the local Browncoats that came and sat the table and helped me pack out at the end of the con. Am now going to add pics. Note: story behind HotBunny pic - at some point in "War Stories" a Niska henchman is reading a magazine with a pin-up picture on the front. This is the lady who was the model for the cover of that magazine (which is apparantly a real rag). She was watching the episode and was surprised to see she had a cameo. And am slightly annoyed that the official board doesn't accept photos from cons for points any more since we had a great display and did a lot of good works promoting the film. :disappointed:

bright light city gonna set my soul
Monday, 25 October 2004 20:21:13

Gonna set my soul on fire. Man I wanna go to Vegas. It's like burning in my brain. I've had a crap month and maybe what I need is a change of venues. Maybe Vegas is what is called for to improve my mood. Maybe I'll meet someone in Vegas and have something that stays in Vegas. Probably not though. I was pretty depressed after my last rant, and then I got brushed off by a girl and turned down for a new job on the week of my birthday, but right now I'm all sorts of excited about my idea to go to Vegas.

Strange Dream
Tuesday, 26 October 2004 04:47:00

You ever have one of those dreams that's really vivid, but you don't even remember you had until much, much later? Doesn't usually happen. Maybe it's the ambien. huh. So, I was going to the movies with my mom, to see some random movie, and we're in the lobby, and hanging on the wall, and from the ceiling, are Serenity posters! I was all excited, stopped to stare, and when my mom finally realized I wasn't with her, she came back to get me. Then her camera materialized out of nowhere, and she insisted on stepping in front of this couple who were intently studying the poster (I assumed they were Browncoats, and felt bad mom was dissrupting their view) to take a picture. Then she made me stand in front of it to take another pic. Interestingly enough, the pic wasn't a new exciting movie shot or anything, it was an old Mal/Zoe firefly promo shot. Also, and most disturbingly, in my dream, ME wasn't ME, Joss had changed the name of his company to JossWorks. I kept trying to show my mom but she wouldn't listen. It's not even a *good* new name! I was horribly dissapointed when I saw that in the corner. I think that's when I realized I was dreaming. But it was good up to that point.

Viva Las Vegas!!
Tuesday, 26 October 2004 22:48:43

Ok, so I booked my flight to Vegas, I booked a hotel room. I am so there already. I can taste the stale cigarette tinged air, I can taste the free booze and the buffets. I can feel the cards, and I only have to wait until Sunday to get there. How very exciting!!! I wound out my crappy October last year by going to Vegas and felt much better, so I figured why not this year as well? I've got no one to answer to if I go crazy there and get drunk and do something with another consenting adult. It's all kinds of my awesome. I'm so jazzed. all week I shall be thinking of it. booze, gambling, partying and even possibly strippers. Viva LAS VEGAS!!!!

boo
Wednesday, 27 October 2004 00:22:05

Today's been craptastic. I really don't like it when people don't do the job they are being paid to do. I really don't like ending up doing their job while they flirt with a girl down the hall. At least it's better than having him hit on me. Chips and dip that was annoying. the high light of today was I didn't have an mold attack while I was elbow deep in glazes that and the Charlie Brown and the great Pumkin is on. I love cartoons, CSI and of Course Firefly. I think I'm going to blow off my english homework tonight and watch Shindig all night.

ID question ...
Wednesday, 27 October 2004 20:54:48

I have had a few folks comment on my FFFn ID today. Mostly they were wondering what it meant or referanced - well here iz the story ... OK, here goes -- 20+ years ago I was the second person to be a Dungeon Master for our group of a dozen or so players. We had purchased Shawn (our excellent 1st DM} a 'Dungeon Master' tee with a cartoon of a Marine Bulldog on front saying "Kill 'Em all and let God sort 'em out" AND a personalized message in deep red velvet letters on the back: DUNGEON MASTER Big-Evil-Mean and NASTY. So after a few months of my games, the players surprised me with this: Front: cartoon of two vultures - one saying "Patience my ass, I'm gonna kill sumptin' " Back: {red velvet letters} DUNGEON MASTER II The Wrath of Rahn On a propmakers board few years ago {98 or 99} folks started calling me Cap'n {yep Trek ref} -- so I chose Cap'n Ron {love the Kurt Russell movie too!} but there were a MILLION variants of Captain Ron about! In moving shortly thereafter I happened on the old tee -- inspiration struck and viola -- great new UNIQUE net ID. So if ya see CapnRahn as an ID or email -- it is most likely mine. WHEW! Long story -- t'wern't it! OAR, Cap'n Rahn

Dawn of the Dead
Thursday, 28 October 2004 19:59:49

I just bought the new version of Dawn of the Dead on DVD. The original is still my favorite, but this one wasn't bad. I have an enormous amount of school work due in the next two weeks. I might as well just move into the library. So if no one hears from me for a while, I'm probably buried underneath a stack of books or something. Ah well, only 20 more months of this crap and I can go back to Idaho where I belong.

No rest for Firefly.
Friday, 29 October 2004 19:54:54

I was waiting for something big and important to say for my first blog but instead I decided to write this. The SCI-FI channel in the U.K. have just started re-running FIREFLY again. So I suppose I will have to watch them all again now. Still, it saves wear and tear on the DVD's.

shoes
Saturday, 30 October 2004 02:19:57

Yesterday was really bad and I ended up cutting classes (which I never have done before) then today I went shopping with my mom and bought like 11 pairs of shoes (doubling my collection) and I feel so much better now. Plus I read a message from Chosen1 that helped. I got a really crappy email from the guy who stood me up last weekend (first one in a week) and he sent me a FORWARD about how I should stop sending forwards (AHHHGGGRRRHHHH!!!) I don't even send forwards! He said nothing about standing me up or anything! Shoes Shoes Shoes.... Ahhhhhhh The best part is shoes were on sale so I spent under $20! I feel better now really. OH!!!! I can't believe I forgot this!! This local Craft shop has offered to pick up my pots and market them!!!! I'm a working ARTIST!!!

I'm Kaylee
Sunday, 31 October 2004 18:31:21

Woohoo. I actually look a lot like Kaylee today. It worked. My teddy bear patch is too small, but otherwise, yippee. No one knows who I am so I tell them all about Serenity and Firefly and my beloved Simon. If anyone lives in Tulsa, feel free to stop by Gordmans on 21st and visit me before 5pm. maybe we could take a pic of all of us. I'll post my costume later today.

Nothing to see here... Move along... I'm just testing out the blog functionality... ************************************* I'll just use this blog entry to keep track of stuff related to my recent Blue Sun Room postings. All of the images I modified are used without permission. For non-Firefly images I did a Google images search on the topic (images.google.com - I'm purposefully removing the
