STRANGE DREAM

Tuesday, October 26, 2004 4:47:00 AM

You ever have one of those dreams that's really vivid, but you don't even remember you had until much, much later? Doesn't usually happen. Maybe it's the ambien. huh.

So, I was going to the movies with my mom, to see some random movie, and we're in the lobby, and hanging on the wall, and from the ceiling, are Serenity posters! I was all excited, stopped to stare, and when my mom finally realized I wasn't with her, she came back to get me. Then her camera materialized out of nowhere, and she insisted on stepping in front of this couple who were intently studying the poster (I assumed they were Browncoats, and felt bad mom was dissrupting their view) to take a picture. Then she made me stand in front of it to take another pic. Interestingly enough, the pic wasn't a new exciting movie shot or anything, it was an old Mal/Zoe firefly promo shot. Also, and most disturbingly, in my dream, ME wasn't ME, Joss had changed the name of his company to JossWorks. I kept trying to show my mom but she wouldn't listen. It's not even a *good* new name! I was horribly dissapointed when I saw that in the corner. I think that's when I realized I was dreaming. But it was good up to that point.

I'm an overworked and overtired student who spends too much time watching tv and spending too much time on the computer. What am I studing? Technical writing. What do I watch? Firefly, Farscape, Buffy, Angel. What sites do I go to? this one, johnaeryn.com, heroinechic.net, livejournal, Kansas. I lurk a lot. When I have time to read, I read Jasper Fforde, Alex Garland, Orson Scott Card, and (guilty pleasure) J.D. Robb.

Previews are the best part of going to the movies, and opening credits are one of my favorite parts of watching tv (c'mon, a great theme song, well-edited clips? 's just good stuff), and I really like the "Previously on..."s.

I don't cook well, although I can make a mean stroganoff, tasty mac & cheese, and some really good scalloped potatoes. Admitedly, all of these things come from a box. It's not a defining characteristic, just an interesting factoid.

BTW, the sig's from Farscape, A Constellation of Doubt, and the tag's from Wistawa Szymborska's "In Praise of Dreams." Her Poems New and Collected is the only book of poetry I've loved enough to own, and it's next to the bed.
