Yeah but that's the audience score not the critic's score. And it was an audience who had zero opportunity to have actually seen the movie. So, it had nothing to do with the actual movie.

Not true. That was not the audience score, because Rotten Tomatoes never kept track of the Audience Score for any movie before it came out. Until Captain Marvel's "Want To See" score dipped to 26%, they did have a "Want To See" score for movies.
Rotten Tomatoes is owned by Fandango. Fandango recently created the position of "President" for their company and gave it to Paul Yanover, who's job title before that was "Digital Executive" at Disney, who own's Marvel. Disney stands to lose a lot of money if Captain Marvel doesn't do well.
The only official scores out now are from critics ratings (which Rotten Tomatoes is still lying about overall, by giving "fresh" ratings to reviews which are obviously negative reviews).
Metacritic's aggregate of Captain Marvel is now down to 65.

It should be noted that when you look at a legitimate review aggregate like Metacritic, comic book movies don't tend to do very well overall since, if said film doesn't have a political message/agenda, the genre usually doesn't fair well overall in the critic community.
Would it be fair to say that Black Panther was the greatest comic book super hero movie ever made? Of course, I'll leave that for you to decide for yourself, but if we're to go only by critics reviews, that would look to be the case by a pretty wide margin. The only other one I could find that was in the 80's at all was Spider-Man 2.
Anyhow... Captain Marvel right now is rated just under Age of Ultron, even with all of the hype and claims that it's a movie about Feminism, and it's so important for women to see that there have been several successful kickstarter campaigns to raise money to buy tickets for underprivileged girls in bad communities to be treated to this wonderful Girl Power blockbuster that will change the world.
But it scores lower than Age of Ultron... Sandwitched in between AoU and Ant Man with a perfect "D" score of 65.
Age of Ultron was the last straw for me. I've tuned out of comic book movies ever since then. Mindless entertainment for people who are looking for mindless entertainment.
EDITED TO ADD: I added Wonder Woman's metacritic score. A 76, the same as Guardians of the Galaxy. I have not seen a DC movie since the 2nd Christian Bale Batman, so I couldn't compare the two, but even at a 76, Guardians was probably my favorite comic book movie out of the 8 or so that I've seen that weren't Keaton/Bale Batman flicks which were head and shoulders above any other comic property, IMO. (Of which Keaton's first only rated 69 and Bale's first only rated 70)

I mentioned to some on YouTube they'd better offer up some comment on the low ' want to see 'score before it dipped to 25 % and then - wham! It vanished, just before it reached that epic level. 
The access media drones and SJW types falsely reported that RT's " audience score " was inappropriately influenced by trolls and bad actors.

It was an honest tally of what REAL fans were thinking ! But the suits at Disney couldn't deal w/ the blow back from Brie's asshat performance of whining that she didn't want to see 40 yr old WHITE guys reviewing her movie!

Keep in mind that most of these movies are not going to be critical darlings, except for the more recent ones because of the SJW aspect. (Also, Alita is universally hated by SJWs for some reason). I don't expect much higher rankings than the 80's for most of these.
Hell... It wouldn't surprise me if Oceans 8 and Ghostbusters 2016 got higher reviews than Aliens and Terminator 2.

Take Aways: Before SJW culture, it doesn't seem like movies with strong female protagonists were given an inflated value just on that virtue.
Mila Jovovich must be too pretty for the SJWs. Her movies were universally panned. Even The 5th Element, which I thought was pretty spectacular and I've never found anybody I know that didn't like it.
