You guys make it seem as though all the money in the world was spent while children are dying in Africa. Now, if they don't spend shit you and all your little buddies would be screaming bloody murder that the Dems are cheapskates. It's the old story - damned if you do, or damned if you don't.
I believe that Rap and other points about the spending in the election were directed toward this comment:

Quote:By normal arithmetic, that's +46,000 voters. In that district, or in the entire state? Because if it was in that District, I can't see how Ossoff lost. And while purging voter rolls is a trick republicans use while they control the mechanism of the state, polls - among other dirty tricks - are used by democrats.

Plus the fact that Georgia, and in particular District 6 is a red state.
A voter registration movement by Dems for Ossoff produced 86,000 registered voters, of which Handel had 40,000 purged from the voter rolls. Sneaky fucking bitch!
Quote:I don't think so. That amount of spending in even one district is unsustainable. And dems can't afford to wage an entire nationwide effort at that level - and still lose.
But, not to worry. Handel showed her ass and now the Dems will be prepared for what to expect come 2018. Oh yeah, she was nervous alright. Used all the Repubs dirty tricks from the GOP manual, but it's all gonna come crashing down - House of Cards.
Quote:Yes it is. So what are dems going to offer to WE THE PEOPLE to turn the tide?
WAKE UP YOU SLEEPY MOTHERFUCKERS, IT IS WE THE PEOPLE!!!
I've mentioned it before, I'll say it again. The dems have been sucking up to 'victim' groups for too long. If dems promise women, Hispanics, blacks, lgbtqs, First Nations, illegals, and so on, opportunities - ESPECIALLY IN THIS MEAGER ECONOMY - everyone else can rightfully question what they can expect. It sure sounds like a zero-sum system to me, like 'victim' groups will get something at everyone else's expense.
I'm not saying groups haven't been victimized. As a person who was SPECIFICALLY denied opportunities - to be an apprentice electrician or pipefitter, and to go to the medical school of my choice - on account of my sex, I understand that there are many opportunities that either don't exist or are denied. (I want to mention, in my case I was TOLD it was because I'm a woman. They wouldn't say any such thing nowadays, though they would still do it quietly.) And, as I've mentioned before, I find it beyond ironic that the only people who voted like they 'deserve' better are whites. Apparently whites haven't been downtrodden long enough to have figured out their place in this supranational corporatist world.
THAT SAID - instead of stoking grievances in 'victim' groups and having an implied bias against everyone else, you can't go wrong getting behind basic fairness. Because the thing about fairness is that it applies to everyone' 'victim' groups and whites alike. If it doesn't, by definition, it's not fair.
Dems need to stop pitting individual 'victim' groups against society, and instead get behind an inclusive message of fairness for all, and specifically to stop being corporate shills and stand up for a fair deal for everyone.

And I just figured out why Trump won, and what the winning republican strategy could be for the future. And it's economic war, baby.
ON THE WHOLE, the capitalist system is tapped out globally. There are no new impoverished, powerless countries with oodles of cheap labor and cheap resources to exploit.
Inevitably, the supranational corporations will need to turn to developed countries, and lower wages and labor costs there - which means us, too.
How can you control the people in the face of lowered wages, lowered benefits, and fewer jobs? In a heterogeneous country like ours, you pit one group against another. Specifically, you prey on the aggrieved male Anglo sense that they deserve to be at the top of the pecking order, no matter how reduced that pinnacle is. Because as long as there's someone beneath you in that cage fight, you've 'won'. You can be happy.

SGG - check your sources. Handel didn't do anything wrong, other than spoil the victory party for the Dems. No one blamed Ossoff / or his camp, for the letters or the mailings. ( more likely, a deranged Bernie fan, as we've seen go on murder sprees across the country ) The letters were postmarked from Greenville , SC, which is where one could expect, if someone from ATL drove up and dropped them in the mail, trying to NOT be identified as local.
It was THE most expensive Congressional race in US history. I doubt very much anyone on the Right would be claiming the Dems were cheapskates.
Handel won by 4% ( I had said 5-6.. fraking sue me, right ? SOooo far off ! ) Ossoff had been leading the polls by as much as 7 %. Suck it.
Trump did NOT win the district by 20 pts. And if MY 1% miss was something, then hell yes I'm gonna mock you on your colossal mistake. Hillary actually won Cobb, Fulton and DeKalb, which make up the bulk of the 6th District. Tom Price won ( 61.6 to 38.4 %) over his Dem rival, but that's not Trump.
And yes, GA is still a red state, and the 6th is still a red district. One many on the Left had predicted Hillary would flip. She didn't. Also, Dems went 0-4 in Special Elections, nation wide. - OUCH!
Showed her ass ? Dirty tricks ? WTF are you even babbling about ? You're just spouting inanities , and empty rhetoric, after getting yet another beating which you wanted soooo badly to win. You didn't. But keep running empty suits who don't even live in the district they're running. You're "morally" winning !
And Trump just had a huge U.S. Supreme Court ruling go his way, so yeah....
WINNING!

Yes, you are right. Dems should be ashamed of themselves pulling for victims across the nation and ignoring the poor white folks, both Dems and Repubs alike. I would think that the best way to go is like you said...

SHINY ...
I personally would respond to a message that went something like this ....
1) Withdraw from all free trade agreements.
2) Implement a four-point plan* to deal with illegal immigration and illegal immigrants.
3) Stop intervening militarily abroad: Withdraw our troops from the EU, the Mideast, and Far East etc. giving our allies the chance to improve their own defensive capabilities.
4) Make corporate tax law, individual tax law, and capital gains tax the same; and eliminate the many tens of thousands of deductions, exemptions, depreciations, and reimbursements currently enjoyed by corporations and financial institutions not currently available to individuals.
5) Require broadcasters to carry candidate statements - free- starting one year before the first primaries in each state.
6) Reduce military spending, and use part of that money to fund a reinvigorated Civilian Conservation Corps and an Infrastructural corps. This would involve not only restoring our degraded environment but also responding to climate change and improving energy efficiency.
7) Create a true National Bank. Restore Glass-Steagall. Require increasing percentages of capitalization behind ALL loans, whether through a bank or private lender, until fractional reserve lending is eliminated.
8) Create a single payer health insurance; require healthcare providers to publicly post their fees; have the Federal government negotiate prices for pharma.
9) Disband most of the NSA, CIA, State Department, and other departments and institutions which serve a primarily "interventionist" agenda.
10) Require that all critical infrastructure (electricity, water supply, sanitation, traffic control, banking) and institutions which maintain privacy-related information (hospitals, commercial servers) be hardened against cyber attack. Have the revamped security institutions conduct mock cyber attacks and work with the institutions and entities to plug their security holes.
11) Eliminate "corporate personhood". (In fact, I would seriously consider revamping corporate law completely.) and re-state the role of the SEC not to just outlaw monopolistic BEHAVIOR but to outlaw monopolies altogether.
12) Require that all applications be "blinded" ... i.e. ranked, at least as a first cut, without reference to a person's age, sex, and even name. Tenasha Dwan McLanister would have the same chance as Adam Smith.
I'm sure I can think of a lot more things to vote for! But ANY ONE of those in a Dem candidate's platform would be a welcome change! But the Dems lack balls, and they keep lying to us about who they really represent.
