Promises aside SECOND, the progressive democratic message comes across as being for everyone but the white working class. They need to start including the term white in their messaging. They have no problem saying they are for minorities. Me too, but they need to speak to me as well. It appears to me they run for the hills to avoid saying whites included.
The Democratic Party needs to win back the 1000 legislative seats they've lost in the past decade, then add even more wins to that.

Maybe I should expand that a tiny bit? The people voting for Republicanism know their place in the hierarchy and they bitterly resent that Democrats don't know or stay in their proper place in Texas. That is probably too cryptic. Real life examples that I've seen many times in Texas: "Why does that nigger Obama think he can tell me what to do?" or "Those goddamn stuck-up professors don't know how things are done in Texas." or "A woman will never be President of me!" That resentment toward Democrats will not ever go away even if Democrats run different campaigns with enticing promises.
Did I forget to mention that Texas Republicans hate the idea of government spending money on poor people? Even poor Republicans hate that idea, except when the money is spent on them, because nobody but them deserves help, certainly not niggers or mexicans. "Hand up, no hand outs" is their motto. Democratic politicians wouldn't be Democrats if they hated poor people as much as Republican voters do.

SECOND, you speak with a great deal of bitterness about Texas Republicans, but not much insight.
Usually, when people sacrifice some of their well-being, it's because they feel that they're getting something more important in return. What is it about Texas Republicans that seems to resonate with many Texans?

Hi SECOND .... let me rephrase my question.
Sometimes people can be induced to sacrifice their lives because of patriotism, or to save their buddies. Sometimes people will turn down government help because they identify themselves as "frontiersmen", or roughnecks (worker macho).
You generally don't get people to sacrifice a portion of their lifestyle "just because", as in: You will remain downtrodden for the rest of your life, with no hope of progress, just because that's your lot in life.
So, what is it than Texans are giving up, and how are they induced to do that? I'm curious.
