Hello,

I have often been perplexed by some of my Christian bretheren, who seem to take a very schizophrenic view of the final days.

On the one hand, Revelations and other prophecies in the Bible are supposed to illustrate God's plan for the final days, including an Antichrist who seems to bring global peace and prosperity for a time, before the world goes to hash.

On the other hand, they are constantly warning against the Antichrist and the global system and advising people to fight against it.

It seems to me a good Christian wouldn't be fighting the prophecy, but rather enjoying each milestone and marking off his calendar and looking forward to the timely fulfillment of God's plan.

I personally have grave concerns about global government, but these mostly center on worries over personal freedom and sensitivity to my regional circumstances by those in charge. My concerns are not religious in nature.

I do believe in God, but I also believe that God will take good care of any prophecies and plans he has. Railing against them would almost feel seditious.

By the way, Piraticipant - according to your latest "source", George Washington also was not President, ever. He was, after all, born to British subjects, and therefore could not be a natural-born citizen of the United States.

And, of course, if you follow that logic, then NO ONE is a "natural-born citizen" of the USA, since if you follow it back, at one point or another, EVERYONE's ancestors were born either somewhere else, or before there was a USA. Ergo, no such things as US citizens.

Which is why the Constitution doesn't say anything about your PARENTS having to be natural-born citizens. And the little cite the article lists predates the Constitution, and is therefore irrelevant.

I was wondering how one was supposed to count the days. Do you count the day the prediction is made ? Do you count up to the numbered day, or do you include it ? Or do you take it as within the window specified ? It spoils a lot of movies for me. Though it could be a very funny part in a movie. Someone makes a dramatic announcement (you will DIE in THREE DAYS !!!) and meanwhile the person to whom it is said is asking - do you count today ? Do you mean after three full days or when the third day comes up ? And they start counting on their fingers - now, of we count today and it's AFTER three full days it's, uhm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday ... not until Thursday ? Do I have that right ? But if I DON'T count today and it's after three full days it's ...

But anyway, making it as late as possible, if we didn't count the 28th but started on the 29th instead, and decided it was after 8 full days that makes it ... 29(1), 30(2), 1(3), 2(4), 3(5), 4(6), 5(7), 6(8) ... by my reckoning ... aren't we overdue ? Hmm, this one is interesting. Are they bribing the Oil companies to not get in the way, or do they have other interests in mind?

At least at the university I went to, Environmental Scientists were trained at the same school as mining engineers and petroleum geologists. I'd always wondered why; the first field seems like it should have a conflict of interest with the later two.

When I graduated, they phased out my Environmental Science degree with a more general Geoscience with either Geology, Environmental Science, or Geophysics emphasis. The Environmental emphasis no longer has to take the high level hydrology and chemical / pollution courses that I had to take.

(BTW they were listed in your link, which claimed that the 'CFR scientists' were in league with BIG oil etc. Since you linked it, that was why I asked - who is the CFR ? I thought maybe there was another CFR around somewhere. B/c, AFAIK, the CFR has no scientists. Given that, the claim that 'CFR scientists' were 'doing' anything at all seems --- remote.)

ETA: there really are conspiracies. Rich and powerful people do intend to stay rich and powerful, and maybe even get more rich and powerful. And they will do that no matter how many people have to die of want or war, no matter how many lies they have to spew, no matter how much destruction is caused, no matter the true insanity of it all. That doesn't relieve us of the burden of sorting out fact from fiction (a task PN is sadly equipped to perform). I guess I didn't notice the who so much in the link PN gave so much as the information about the Big Oil companies. Definitely I've seen the Oil Companies become more open to the possibility of green technology, which I don't necessarily think is a bad thing, but I have to wonder which comes first, the changing marketplace, or the marketplace manipulation? I've always thought Big Oil was being pretty dumb, dragging their feet on looking for renewables when oil and gas are predicted by their own people to run out in 20 to 50 years. But definitely jumping on a global warming bandwagon, is smart, whether or not global warming is real. Which I actually think it is, though I'm very skeptical of any "catastrophe" beyond sea level rise, storm intensity, and more extreme droughts.

Thanks for the info on CFR, both you and PN. As I said, I suppose we don't really know where exactly they fit in to the rich and powerful conspiracies you mention (which I also believe to be real), but if they were strongly represented in the Bush Administration (and this administration) then I think PN has correctly labeled them a problem group.

Hope I don't regret saying that.

Byte - It's not so much that big oil is AGAINST green technology, per se; it's that they're against it - vehemently - right up until they've gotten their investments lined up to make the most of green technology. THEN they're all for it.

I noticed this with the soda makers, back when there was a push to get soda machines out of the schools, and to replace them with healthier alternatives. It was fought, hard, and lobbied against, and the soda machines stayed, at least up until Coca-Cola and PepsiCo had bought up a slew of bottled water companies and juice companies. Then, when it came up again, they said, "Oh hells yah - those machines got to GO. Here, put some of our bottled water and juice machines in there." So now, instead of a $0.50 soda at school, you get a nice $1.50 water. Everybody's happy. Especially the water bottlers, eh?

I knew for a fact that Big Oil would get behind green tech; they just had to make sure they could buy the right companies and make the right investments so that if green tech took off, they won, and if oil stayed cheap, they won as well.

Sorry, I was unaware that there were people that didn't know. The CFR has been the subject of many threads here, and elsewhere. Their website cfr.org used to openly advocate disollution of the United States in favor of a one world govt., one world currency, selective population control, global population reduction and a whole host of nasties. Now they've toned down their image, seeing as one of their own is President, they have to be respectable, or appear that way. But it's not a big surprise that people like John Holdren end up in the administration. Of course, the last administration was filled with CFR members, or operatives, and as Gino said, they've been growing inside the govt for a while. Katie Couric is a CFR operative.

But on the topic of the USA ceasing to exist, anyone else having a problem reaching google or yahoo? is internet search being retooled to go through some great firewall filter, and will tomorrow's news claim that this was all "some massive virus attack (sorry, I'm no longer buying that story.)

Russia entering Germany first may have been a PR gimmick, but the Russians killed more Germans than anyone, and the two front war was a MAJOR factor in the allies winning WW2. Trying to invade Russia in the winter is pure idiocy, and the Nazis made the same mistake.

Jameron, you REALLY need to study up on the German Eastern Front sometime. You would simply be stunned by what you found out. And you'd be further stunned by the levels of brutality on both sides of the war between the Nazis and the Soviets. And the Soviets killed FAR more Nazi soldiers than the west ever even thought about killing. We're talking HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of German soldiers killed in single battles. We're talking hundreds of thousands CAPTURED, in a strict "no prisoners" conflict between Germany and Russia. What do you suppose happened to those captured Germans?

The Battle of Stalingrad alone devoured more than 850,000 Axis soldiers, among them 400,000 Germans killed or captured. Of that number, fewer than 5000 ever returned to Germany, and many of those only in 1955, after being freed from the Gulags they were held in.

The Western Front NEVER faced "the majority of the German army" once Hitler initiated Operation Barbarossa and invaded Russia.
