I've lived in Dacono, Colorado. You want to talk about a place where nothing happens? Town didn't even have its own school. The largest business was a gas station. It sucked there. Look, the voices used in this film caused me physical pain, which was compounded by the hideous boredom. I would have walked out after twenty minutes if I hadn't been on a date with someone who didn't want to leave. Had I known how torturous it would become, I would have left anyway, and just sat in the lobby. I hate this movie. Its appeal will forever baffle me.

What reason had proved best ceased to look absurd to the eye, which shows how idle it is to think anything ridiculous except what is wrong.

Back when I lived in Twin Falls Idaho, "downtown" was a cluster of business buildings about a block long.

We did have schools though.

Huh. Well, I don't know then. I always thought it was funny because it spoke to my life experience, the utter boredom of a rural town and always trying to find something to do.

Maybe it's because your town was even more extreme, maybe it hit too close to home? Like maybe you have friends or family who still live there, and you feel sorry for them. I could imagine that being painful. Napoleon Dynamite does riff on some kinda depressing themes, like people being stuck in a nowheresville with little chance of going to college or personal advancement, and they have this ridiculous popularity hierarchy at school when it doesn't matter at all.

Xanadu was horrific. Highlander 2 (or "The Film That Shall Not be Named") I prefer to forget ever happened or to merely think of as a bad dream brought about by a dinner of bad shellfish.

Have to say "Howard the Duck" was the worst film I have ever seen. Not one redeeming quality to that waste of film.

At least it was well shot. Highlander 5 (The Source) makes 2 look like a masterpiece. Man, that POS is terrible.

I'm going to go with Episode I. That movie was just full of terrible moments. The only redeeming quality of the whole film is the lightsaber dueling which was really the best of all the star wars movies. Everything else was awful.

No, it's not the old family homestead or something. I just don't think something that sucks that hard is movie fodder. Reflecting and exaggerating the dullness of life to the point where actors don't change facial expressions and speak in grating monotone? Not entertaining.

Ill agree wholeheartedly that it was the wrost of the series. Maybe even from an emotional standpoint, I could agree its the biggest filmgoing dissapointment ive had. But objectively, I still find it a better constructed film overall than dreck like Transformers 2 (I skipped 3) or more recently, Green Lantern.

Ah. See, that's part of what I thought was good about it. They took that theme of dull small-town-ness and applied it to everything. I felt it was artistic and fitting, and it was so exaggerated it added an element of the ridiculous and surreal to everything about the movie.

Ignore Jar Jar, the pod races, and the accidental space station destruction thing in Episode one, and it's watchable.

There's probably an edit out there somewhere that tones down the problem parts, and I bet that'd be pretty good.

The kid playing Anakin did a decent job all considering (better than Hayden anyway I think), but I also think it couldn't have hurt to get an older actor to play the same part all three movies. And it would have been fun to see an older Anakin intentionally sneak out on a fighter and take out the space station, instead of the comedy sequence we got for that. But that's somewhat more difficult to just edit in.
