OOC-i have to agree with every single post ive read on this. The angst threads can be a bit too angst and the random threads can be a bit too random so i think two intermingled threads at atime would keep everyone happy and (most importantly) keep the crew together. everyone can enjoy their thing at their time but if they fancy a change their just an intergalactic portal away. And their are some great characters and post on this thread.
Back in character- Wisp frantically scanned his laptop. Why was he here? He should be in his favourite pub toilet on ariel he just didnt understand. Something had drawn him here to this very point in time and space but what? He'd heard of these things happening but couldbt see why. He kindly got off the rabits and looked around. Could it be her? But isnt she married? Or Pregnant?

OOC: OK, I spoke a bit about this in chat, but since everyone wasn't there last night, I'll recap what I said. For those of you who have heard this, sorry for the repeat.
I love writing angst, I really do. I think I write angst well when I put my mind to it. But lately I've been coming to this thread and being literally exhausted by the amount of angst happening. I can't keep up.
Now we all know I'm a warrior elf. Hell, I got a kickass ring of fire, for Eru's sake. I like writing about battles, or saving someone, or having character development moments. But not ALL the time! Certainly we all like tragedy, but everyone needs laughter too.
And aren't we on a Firefly site? Perhaps we should look at what Joss does on his shows. Is it angst ALL THE TIME? No! There are amazingly light, humorous episodes in all his shows that still move the story along and still have character development. Think about Jaynestown, an episode I'm sure most of us adore: it's hilariously funny, yet there's still some action and poignant moments of character development. But it's not ALL angst or ALL action. And it's not ALL funny either.
We need a balance of angst and humor, and right now this thread doesn't have it. I don't think TWG meant that we'll never have angst again, it's just that we are way overdue for some down time. Personally, I haven't even been reading everyone's great ansgty posts because it's just too much, I'm oversaturated with it and I just can't be bothered anymore. Some down time would give me the chance to regroup, get to know some of these people (I've never met SR or Wisp or McQ for example), and then I'll be ready for action again.
People may correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think those of us who want some silly times want silly all the time. I think we all appreciate some adventure as well. But being able to having humor, friendship, comraderie while having those adventures is important.
Dividing the threads is not what I would want to do. I appreciate the difficulty in having multiple storylines, but we've been able to do this in the past. And if you all would take the time to read the past threads that TRM has so wonderfully preserved, you would notice that adventures were happening, angst was happening, battles were happening, but they were accented by periods of humor and fun. That's what I would like to see happen again. It would give us all a challenge to write beyond what we know or feel good at writing, would give us a better sense of community (which I feel is lacking recently), and would keep the thread and family together.
*shrugs* Just my two bits.
Edit: If we end up splitting the threads, I guarantee you I won't be able to participate in both. I have a hard enough time keeping up with only one thread.

After the shock of watching his fiance licking pie off of Cozen, Soul shakes off the image and approaches Serenity.
"Could I talk to you for a moment?"
She nods and stands. Soul waits until her back is turned and throws a pie at Cozen. The pie, of course, misses Cozen and instead hits TWG in the face. Soul ducks behind Serenity and begs God for mercy. 
The two of them find a quiet corner, and Soul sits down and explains everything to her, from Ciaran, to the man with the tattoo, to warring with his darkside, and finally about just how much Serenity really means to him. Then he tells her that he has to leave, if only for a while. He has to find the man and kill him, and end that chapter of his life. Serenity understands, and hugs him, holding him close. Finally Soul stands, and--
--Gets hit in the face with a pie from TWG.

Long post OOC: Being an original member of the club/treehouse, it's time for me to weigh in.
I agree with SimonWho.
While I love my 'TREE family here (and the writing has been fantastic), I was getting pretty tired of *constantly* being in some peril or another. There are so many stories going on, I can't keep up. It's just too confusing, which is just one reason I've not been posting much. I've found myself skipping over posts because they're just too much to read. The only times I got lost in the early days is because I couldn't find the thread (I didn't know where to find it. Now I know it's the Talk Story forum).
Back in the early days of the 'TREE, we had a pretty even mix of fun and adventure. Emphasis on adventure -- not so much of crew dying and getting kidnapped by the Alliance and Blue Sun corp, as much as exploring new worlds, building the things we needed to get around in the 'verse, interacting with each other, running into new and strange creatures, etc.
As threads moved on and more crew were added, it seems that the light, fun, aspect of the 'TREE was getting pushed aside. We'd have two or three posts of fun (not even enough time for everyone to have joined in), when suddenly we'd be in some huge fight to the death. I really liked the silly adventures, such as when we met the Yeti or when we had to leave Rukus because Rat destroyed the generator. There was a little bit of drama, but in a lighthearted way.
I don't dislike the drama, but too much is too much. Currently, I've got enough drama going on in my life to last a lifetime. I've been out of work for 6 months after being fired under suspicious circumstances. My umemployment is up and I'll have no income in just over a week. If it weren't for a friend of mine offering to let me live with them at the end of the month, I'd be homeless -- literally. So, you can see how getting together with my 'TREE friends for some fun would be greatly appreciated, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who could use the diversion.
There is a happy medium which we had before, we just need to get it back.
I think there's plenty of room for there to be a "base" thread for the 'TREE, and for the offshoot adventures. The base set of threads can be dedicated to life on the 'TREE as we travel the 'verse -- be it for fun or character interactions and development -- then have offshoot adventures in different threads. Those who are on the adventures could stay in that thread until their story line is complete, then come back to the 'TREE for downtime.
Doing this would make things MUCH less confusing to read. If a character is done being silly, they can go off on an adventure and vice versa. And, best of all, it would be one continous thread that can be completed and easily tracked without a bunch of distractions in it.
That's my two cents -- back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Yay more OOC: Just a thought: I offer Ocean Cloud as a place for fun and shennanigans. We'll do the space folding thing inside and move in swimming pools of Jell-O, bars and billiards, and all of the other fun stuff. Those who want fun and silly and chocolate showers come aboard. We'll turn on the SEP and not be noticed, starting each of our posts with " On Ocean Cloud " so those who don't want to read can skip, then later complain that they can't keep up. We'll be free to come out and join the others if we feel the need, and if the serious minded folk need a break, they can contact us on the com and we'll let them in.
Or something else that works and keeps us together.

I'm sorry, did you say leave? As in, go away? Because, I don't know if you noticed (or maybe you just forgot) but I'm about ready to pop. As in, any day now. Do you expect me to be okay with you leaving me to have and raise a baby by myself while you're gone for goodness knows how long doing goodness knows what? What if you go and get yourself killed? Again?
I understand about having to face your past. I ran from mine and look what happened. I got kidnapped and killed a man.
But is it worth sacrificing your future?
