I am a male caucasian, born in 1960, which makes me 25 years old and... no wait, it's more than that, isn't it? Okay, 45. I had dark curly hair once, but it is currently in the process of being overcome by grey. That's okay. The fact that it's still there is a blessing. I usually keep a beard, mostly because I get too lazy to shave every day. I am somewhat tall, but overweight. I have green eyes and wear glasses.
I have lived in the USA all my life. I grew up in the Cincinnati, Ohio area but currently live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I also spent a few years west of Boston, Mass, but didn't like the place.
I am a software engineer by profession. I don't like it much. I'd like to be a writer, an author; I've dabbled in writing. I've found that I'm only really happy when I'm telling a story in some form, or otherwise exercising my imagination. This comes out in my games.
I play roleplaying games and miniature wargames. I assemble, convert, and paint miniature figures for both. I also play boardgames, though more of the economic rather than war type. I like science fiction and fantasy in books, on television, and on the screen. I love history and science, and watch lots of History, Discovery, and Science channels on TV.
Yes, I am a geek of the highest order!
So it is perhaps somewhat shocking that I am not romantically attached. :-) This is a problem that I'd like to solve. Unfortunately for me, I am also one of those "nice guys" that women come to for brotherly advice on their real relationships. :-) Ouch! That's okay. I like me, and wouldn't want to change me too much. Of course, I'm not blameless in some of my romantic failures. Oh, well. Life is a learning experience.
I have some very good friends that mean the world to me, and I love my brother and his family deeply. His young children are like magic.
A friend told me about the wonders of Firefly while it was still on the air, but I never saw it until the DVDs came out. I was hooked after the pilot. In my mind, only Babylon 5 can compare with this show.
My alias comes from Mal's comment in War Stories when he turns the tables on Niska, but it is also a personal statement in that I am getting to know myself better. Over the years, I am beginning to truly understand The Real Me.
