Kraven goes nowhere, it seems dead on arrival

Red One is doing better than Kraven and Red One flopped

I didn't think Kraven would do this bad..I was thinking maybe they could do something like Venom pull something off, advertise maybe? but no

However because its a Japan studio 'Sony' you could argue its not a loss for traditional Hollywood / modern Hollywood, its a foreign studio

Strange contest about to happen seeing 2 Japan studio movies about to fight it out at the same time...but Kraven is Sony owned brand, they bought it from Marvel way back during those 90s bankruptcy when Marvel was poor. A Sony loss...while Sega is Sonic right, Sega Sammy Group / Paramount?

anyways still stupid for Japan studios fighting each other even if they are separate Japan studios

LOTR anime might also struggle, and people watch old films like Interstellar

as a franchise with the Japanese animation, the new LOTR only needs 133,795,000 to make a record of 2 Billion Domestic as a 'brand'

it needs 135,000,000 Worldwide to make a total of 6 Billion Global

1. Moana2 - $26.62M
2. WickedMovie - $22.50M
3. KravenTheHunter - $11.00M
4. GladiatorII - $7.80M
5. LOTR #TheWarOfTheRohirrim - $4.60M
6. RedOneMovie - $4.48M
7. #Interstellar - $3.32M

6-STRING called it correct, 2024 has been one of the worst years for Hollywood

Venom only needs a few more million to knock down China film 'YOLO', there is still a small chance Hollywood can knock 3 Chinese films out of the Top10

Are audiences rushing to the theaters for Xmas to see Small Things like These? They are not.

But they could stream the movie to their TV, if they didn’t want to travel during a blizzard.

Or they could bittorrent the movie with this link:

https://psa.wf/movie/small-things-like-these-2024/

Multiple reviewers commented on the moral storytelling, which comes across as "a sort of anti-Christmas Carol." Kirkus called the book "a stunning feat of storytelling and moral clarity." The Herald said the book "assures us we are all capable of doing the right thing, and that goodness, like misery, can be handed on from man to man."

This depth of the book surprised some reviewers, given that Small Things like These is a quick read that could be considered a novella given its length. Associated Press noted, "Keegan's economy of prose is a marvel ... The book takes just an hour or so to read, (film: 99 minutes) but you still feel like you know Bill Furlong by the end and understand why he does what he does. His tale of quiet heroism doesn't require any more words."

it won't be saved by Chinese numbers

China seems to like only pre-packaged Hollywood action brands already established, Hollywood live action movies where they know what to expect, no DEI political transexual messages...those films risk censorship across the rest of the world which is kind of 'conservative'
the successful ones released in China have been already established action packed movies

‘Kraven the Hunter’ Makes Modest Debut as ‘Her Story’ Maintains Lead at Sluggish China Box Office

Maxtime Pictures’ “Her Story,” a comedy-drama film told from a largely female perspective, topped the mainland China box office for the fourth consecutive weekend.
The box office remained sluggish despite a few new releases, with Hollywood holdover “Moana 2” dropping out of the top five and Sony’s “Kraven the Hunter” making a modest debut.

Sony did however buy Spider-Man for cheap in the 90s when Marvel was going bankrupt

they will probably continue pushing films

maybe even tv shows, they possibly still see potential in a 'Sinister Six' universe or whatever they have planed

This was the BEST review:
The A.V. Club, Dec 11, 2024
Kraven The Hunter gets closer than any of its predecessors to understanding the silly, entertaining freedom of shedding continuity. Then again, maybe it’s best that this misbegotten series quits while it’s just-barely ahead.

The WORST review:
The Telegraph, Dec 11, 2024
Last orders can’t come soon enough for the whole parade of supervillains, superheroes, or however they’re now choosing to identify. This is rock bottom.

"Roar?"

I remember when they tried saying The Little Mermaid cost $200 Million to make, and then it came out that it was at least $250 Million, but they can't verify all the costs of reshoots since they didn't have to report that for their foreign tax breaks.

MSN says this cost at least $200 Million. Google AI says it cost $250 Million.

What's our number one rule on breaking even?

It's a coin flip you'll break even if you only manage to make 80% to 99% of your production budget back on your worldwide opener.

$180 Million is nothing to roar about. Not when it cost $20 to $70 Million or more above that just to film the movie.

If that's all it makes on opener, it's pretty likely it won't reach the $625 Million it needs to break even when it comes out that it cost at least $250 Million to make.
