But as we've already discussed in other threads, you see everything in black and white and binary code. You only deal in absolutes.

Though this makes it very easy for you to shut off your brain completely and not have to spend any of what precocious little brain power you are capable of harnessing on having thoughts of your own, this also blinds you completely to the benefit of having data at your fingertips and using your own brain to decipher its meaning.

Hollywood already has a plan to create failure out of success by making the same Ape movie over and over until all the novelty is lost and the Ape movies become guaranteed money losers:

Well... Duh.

I'm not watching any of this crap. I'm going to assume based off this conversation that little of it interests you either.

But a lot of people were and enough people still are. They're just going to keep cranking out those reboots, remakes and sequels until people stop paying them to do it. Up until now they haven't been incentivized to correct their bad behavior. But they're probably starting to feel the fear that even the old tried and true model might not be working for them this time.

The point you keep missing is that they tried forcing all the DEI bullshit when they had just spent the last few decades building a house of cards as a foundation. But they convinced themselves that The People NEED them. They were mistaken. And now far too many things are different in 2024 for any of them to behave as they did 4 years ago. Those that are still employed and/or will ever get another job in Hollywood, that is.

That damage is done now. So if they want to get people back into the theaters with nothing but sequels and reboots that nobody asked for, even if it doesn't have a single sentence of DEI agenda to be found, I think they're in for at least another few bad years until they learn how to properly budget and take risks again.

And for the love of god... if you're going to continue to spend obscene amounts of money to buy the copyrights for nerd culture favorites and bring them to the mainstream... just give the fans what they want and you'll make something great. Fallout is a prime example of this.

We don't need your constant reinvention of things that were already beloved before half of you people were even born. Your input has not improved any of these works one single time and it is no longer welcome. Just shut the fuck up and do your job. And in case nobody ever told you, your job is to make something a paying audience is eager enough to watch that they'd even sit through commercials to see it to the end. That is your ONLY job. Period.

Keep your opinions and politics and bullshit in your own living room where they belong. The People have no desire to hear your opinions when they are paying to be entertained. They never did. Not when they could get every one of them for free just by putting MSNBC on for an hour or watching the Gals on The View.

The Ape movies are repetitive, losing novelty and ticket sales. But Hollywood has always been that way, making the same damn movie over and over until audiences, except for teenagers, are sick of that particular product and crave some new novelty. The example I previously gave you was the silent movie Stella Maris from 1918, which was remade in 1925. Hollywood stumbles upon occasional successes, but its fundamental nature, its inability to understand why some stories work and others don't, dooms it to make mostly failures with random successes thrown in at infrequent intervals. The money men in Hollywood have no idea what works and they never will, even back in 1918.

At this point I'm just wondering how many times you can reply to a thread in a single day and say the exact same thing.

6ix, you are under some grandiose delusion that Hollywood is injecting politics into its products to spite Trumptards. I quote you:

That is NOT what Hollywood is doing. There are talented story writers attracted to Hollywood, but the final product is not what the talented people would produce. The final product is whatever the money men and egotistical bigshots want, and they don't have any talent or even good taste. They refer to the conflict as Art vs Mammon. Art nearly always loses in Hollywood. This is a sample of how convoluted movie production is:

Being producers kept you on the project, even when the studio had doubts and replaced you as screenwriters at one point, only to bring you back.

SILVER: We were fired a few times and brought back a few times. We followed Rise all the way through production and post. Thank goodness we asked to be producers. I wish more writers got to be producers on their work. You write a script and you’re done, and then the director goes and makes a movie that you’re excited about, and you don’t hear anything. Things go silent for 18 months.

6ix, does this give you a hint at why most Hollywood movies are crap? If you read all of the article, you will get a feel for the behind the scenes chaos during production causing crappiness in the final product.

Failure is routine in Hollywood, but it is not because they inserted politics offensive to Trumptards.

10 Movies Everybody Wanted...But Nobody Watched
Everyone wanted Sin City 2, but nobody turned up for it.

Serenity is 1 of the 10.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part
Blade Runner 2049
Dredd
Serenity
Watchmen
Snakes on a Plane
Gremlins 2: The New Batch
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
The Matrix Resurrections

It's not a delusion. All of those Hollywood types are on the Left fringes and everybody knows it. If you don't know somebody's political affiliation in Hollywood, chances are they're not insane Leftist cultists. And then there's James Woods, who doesn't give a single fuck that Hollywood won't put him in another movie so he tells it all like it is.

It's not doing it anymore. It can't afford to.

But it is exactly what Hollywood and Disney in particular were doing up until last year.

They've learned some very expensive lessons so far, and it doesn't look like they're finished paying for it yet.

Here you go...

An example of Leftists in Hollywood certainly not injecting insane Leftist radical agenda in a decades old beloved TV show.

For those interested in seeing more of how "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" came to be before the digital effects were added, 20th Century Studios has already announced that the physical media release of the film will contain a special bonus feature of the entire film without CGI. (You will see humans with dots inked on their faces pretending to be apes! That's the purity of acting!)

Boy... Had to go back a long while past all the bullshit to get to the last pertinent post.

Oh... Certainly not. I don't any path to $500 Million for Apes. It only needs $412.5 Million to break even though.

My honest opinion from what I'm seeing right now is that it will either lose a little bit of money or it will make a little bit of money and not make much waves either way. If breaking even were the bullseye, I think they just about hit it here. My guess is that it makes 15% +/- the break even point, or between $350 Million and $475 Million worldwide.

We'll have to see what the first weekend drop is going to be before any real predictions for a final number can be made, but I'm happy with that range and can say with just about 100% confidence it falls within it.

I wouldn't say that Billion Dollar days are gone, but I think all the major studios will have gotten the message loud and clear that the days of that almost being a given on blockbusters are over and that they're really going to have to start justifying those big budgets going forward.

We might get one of them this year. Barbie did almost $1.5 Billion last year and Top Gun: Maverick did the same the year before that. Oh... and The Super Mario Movie did somewhere around $1.35 Billion last year too.

It did quite a bit better than that with $58,400,788 in the US after the real numbers came in.

I was hesitant to say it would be over $58 Million just because everything has been so wonky this year. Last year while I was tracking movies I would have said it made over $58 Million if the studio projections were $56.5 Million.

So at least in that regard it's behaving like a normal movie in normal times would behave.

Bruce is predicting a pretty big 60% this weekend in the US for only $23.4 Million and a drop to 2nd place. He doesn't go into any detail at all about Apes in the prediction article.

Regardless of how it does Internationally, it should be quite a bit less of a drop than 60% simply because we get their new numbers for all week instead of just the weekend numbers. Typically if that film was doing well last year, it amounted to essentially doubling opening weekend's numbers. With a 60% drop in the US on 2nd weekend, maybe that amounts to 85% of the first weekend internationally?

Bruce's $23.4 Million added to the current worldwide total would be just shy of $171.5 Million worldwide.

Let's say 85% of last weekend's $75 Million on top of it.

So maybe we see around $235 Million come Monday?

Maybe Bruce is full of shit and it does $35 Million in the US this weekend and an extra $12 Million internationally and we're well over $250 Million on Monday?

Who knows.... It's all guessing right now.

-56.3% drop from Friday to Friday for Apes after you exclude the 6,600 from previews. Not quite the -69% drop that Bruce reports while including the previews, but probably in line with his -60% total weekend drop.

It only made 200k more last night than it did on Preview Tuesday. I figured it would do better than that. It just barely missed $6 Million by a hair on Cheap Seat Tuesday, so only $6.8 Million on Friday was unexpected. Not looking good for the overall picture here. Can't really say until we see internationals on Monday, but I think Apes is going to make toward the smaller end of the scale on my predicted final amount after seeing this pretty massive drop in the 2nd week.
