Instead of the indeterminate-range predictions in the "predictions" thread... like THUGR's endlessly ticking clocks (tick tock)... how about limiting predictions to 2023?
Endless fun!
The floor... is yours.

A few Ukraine predictions:
- Europe will get through Russia's energy squeeze this winter ok. (Readjustment costly but necessary. Losing the European market will damage Russia more in the long run.)
- The war won't end this year.
- Russia peaked last summer in terms of its strength in this war relative to Ukraine. Despite their mobilisations they will fight more defensively than offensively this year. They will lose more territory than they gain, but Ukrainian victories won't be as stunning as last year as Russia has more manpower and a shorter front line to defend. Bakhmut will hold. More mobilisations and replacements of top Russian generals wouldn't surprise me - this year, or next.

My Ukrainian Prediction for 2023 is that Ukraine still won't matter at all to any American Citizen's interest, just as it never had, and even though the Republicans took the house and talk a big game they're just going to keep signing off on funding the war machine because there are too many NeoCons that still need to be removed from office before this country gets fixed.

I predict that Russia will take Bakhmut by April and before the end of this year Russia will take Ukraine at least up to the Dnieper, but it will be a slow grind. No "big arrow" offenses.

McCarthy gets the gavel, almost assuring this prediction to come true.
GWB, meanwhile, is sporting the biggest war boner he's had since he was President.

Strap in.
The only way this one is stopping in a "timely" manner is if Trump wins 2024. And it's still a maybe then.
So... yes. Yes it will.

FOX is still getting good ratings, and FOX isn't staring down the barrel of an angry David Zaslav.
But FOX needs to die off too, along with MSNBC.

Sometimes I disagree with SixString but I will give SixString credit for posting reasonably accurate predictions when it comes to interest rates, the Dollar, inflation, perhaps he remembers previous recessions
maybe this one could be posted in a long term prediction thread

Yes. I remember previous recessions very well. Even the one that was already happening before I was born.
Although it appears that the FED isn't planning on raising the interest rates to the levels that made mortgages peak momentarily at over 23%, it's a crime how much interest people with pay over 30 years with the amortization at just roughly 7%.
This Biden*omics recession sucks balls though. The GWB didn't raise the prices on things you needed to live like this one is.

It is rare I talk Sportsball
Australia, New Zealand, The United States women's national Soccer team. Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer.
even more rare I will write Sport prediction but...
some people have Vices and some make money by way of Gambling on sport
I don't really gamble unless it is for pure fun, sometimes I have made a calculated bet where the odds are almost a certain win.
Japan Female team wins the World Cup? and USA fails at Soccer?
the Female Soccer Team are still doing that George-Floyd hate the National Anthem BS
They say AI is now making better prediction at Card Games and Sport Events, what would it think of the US Women's Soccer?
Home Advantage for Aus and NZ? 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup is jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand
Team Odds to Win
USA +250
Spain +350
England +500
Germany +750
Australia +1000
and New Zealand +8000
Another site says
The USWNT are the +225 favorites to win it all in the latest 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup odds from Caesars Sportsbook. They're followed by England (+375), Germany (+650), Spain (+700) and France (+800), while co-hosts Australia and New Zealand are at +1200 and +15000, respectively.
I say the USA Women's Team Will Fail at the World Cup, maybe not a Total Failure and get some wins
Prediction for 2023...Although both are part of Group C both Spain and Japan meet in the final....maybe that's too crazy a guess.
Don't ask me who wins, 5 goals...maybe Japanese ...Spain is scoring goals or Canada? Germany? Team USA hey beat Vietnam by 3 goals but something feels wrong. I think Sweden, Denmark, France, China, Mexico, Brazil and Japan are also good...maybe even an upset and Holland the Dutch Netherlands or Portuguese wake up or Portugal get a win over USA. England and Spain also rank high but currently the USA is number 1 even though the US Women's Team Lost in the Olympics. I do not know who is the best Female Goal Scorer or Player or Goal Keeper.
Kerr is forward striker she plays as a forward for a British soccer team Chelsea in England in the FA Women's Super League and the Australia women's national team the Matildas. is the all-time leading scorer in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) in the United States. She is the only female soccer player to have won the Golden Boot in three different leagues and on three different continents – the W-League (Australia/New Zealand) in 2017–18 and 2018–19, the NWSL (North America) in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and the FAWSL (Europe) in 2020–21 and 2021–22.
https://thewomensgame.com/news/this-means-the-most-to-me---sam-kerr-wi
ns-wsl-and-golden-boot-564310
Kerr is a 29-year-old striker who is widely considered to be among the best players in the world. She'll wear the captain's armband with 63 goals in 121 international appearances.
If she scores 63 out of 121 stats say there is a slightly higher than 50% chance she scores in a game.

To be fair, there's nothing special about Oppenheimer's performance, other than the timing of the release. It made $174,157,000 worldwide on opening weekend vs. a $180 Million budget (97%), which puts it in 15th place for the year on that list between Jesus Revolution and Fast X.
The 337% that Barbie got with a WW opening of $337 Million vs. a $100 Million production budget, however, puts it in 3rd place for the year between M3GAN and Sound of Freedom, and below Insidious: The Red Door and Super Mario Bros as well. (Yes, Barbie beat Super Mario Bros on the same $100 Million budget in the Domestic Box Office, but wasn't seen as much internationally opening weekend.)
I've got to hand it to the marketing team at Warner Bros. They finally learned to keep the director, actors and anyone else involved on a very short leash online, and did a great job lying to everybody about what this movie was to get people into the theaters to see it.
Meanwhile, WB just got $155 Million worth of moviegoers to take their kids to a movie with the lyrics "That pussy so cold, we just chillin' out" and "The fuck they gon' say now? (Grrah), I'm washin' these bitches, I'm rubbin' the stain out" by "feminist icon" Nicki Minaj. I'm surprised they didn't just have all the Barbies twerking to "Wet Ass Pussy" in the middle of the movie.
Everybody was so busy hating on Woke Disney this year that WB came right in and released this woke, child grooming trash without anybody doing any digging beforehand.

It turns out that both of these figures were wrong. Oppenheimer only cost $100 Million to make, and Barbie actually cost $145 Million. So Oppenheimer made 174% of its budget on opening weekend which put it in 11th place between Scream IV and John Wick IV. Barbie made 246% of its budget opening weekend, putting it at 5th place between Sound of Freedom and Talk To Me.

It turns out they also admitting to spending $150 Million on marketing for Barbie. This is unheard of. Not the amount, but the fact that they actually came out and stated what the marketing budget was. No studio ever makes that information public. I can only think of 2 reasons for this. One or both may be true. The first is that it actually cost more than $150 Million to market Barbie. The second is that it made so much freakin' money that it doesn't matter that they admit it and they all get to be called marketing geniuses. (Trust me. They would never have admitted this budget number had Barbie been a flop).
So with an admitted by the studio total budget of $295 Million, it needed around $375 to $400 Million to break even after theater cuts. This revelation is huge evidence that the new Rule of Thumb is that a movie needs to make 2.5 times the Production Budget to break even.
