Instead of the indeterminate-range predictions in the "predictions" thread... like THUGR's endlessly ticking clocks (tick tock)... how about limiting predictions to 2023?
Endless fun!
The floor... is yours.

I predict California will have at least an average water year (rainy season).

I predict Illinois voters are going to regret voting for Democrats who legalized Murder in the state before the end of the year.

A few Ukraine predictions:
- Europe will get through Russia's energy squeeze this winter ok. (Readjustment costly but necessary. Losing the European market will damage Russia more in the long run.)
- The war won't end this year.
- Russia peaked last summer in terms of its strength in this war relative to Ukraine. Despite their mobilisations they will fight more defensively than offensively this year. They will lose more territory than they gain, but Ukrainian victories won't be as stunning as last year as Russia has more manpower and a shorter front line to defend. Bakhmut will hold. More mobilisations and replacements of top Russian generals wouldn't surprise me - this year, or next.

My Ukrainian Prediction for 2023 is that Ukraine still won't matter at all to any American Citizen's interest, just as it never had, and even though the Republicans took the house and talk a big game they're just going to keep signing off on funding the war machine because there are too many NeoCons that still need to be removed from office before this country gets fixed.

Quote:Unverifiable as written What do you mean by "ok"? No recession? (Too late, already happened.) No changes in government? (Too late, already happened.) No loss of life due to cold? Reindustrialization in spring, and a robust increase in GDP?

I predict that Russia will take Bakhmut by April and before the end of this year Russia will take Ukraine at least up to the Dnieper, but it will be a slow grind. No "big arrow" offenses.

McCarthy gets the gavel, almost assuring this prediction to come true.
GWB, meanwhile, is sporting the biggest war boner he's had since he was President.
