Yeah. What a great song. I never hear it anymore unless I look for it on YouTube because something reminds me of it, but when I do I usually listen to it on loop for about an hour.

I saw a real interesting video about how melody is dying. Sounds like something a Boomer or even a GenXer would say these days, but the guy who made the video is quite a bit younger than I am.
He used a lot of examples of new music that I definitely would never listen to, but I did listen to rap a lot back in the day so it's not as if I hadn't listened to my fair share of songs without almost any melody.
That being said, while reflecting on my favorite rap songs... those that are still on my mp3 player today, they were ones that had melodies to them. One even comes from a group that called themselves Bone Thugs and Harmony.
You could even find it in the Tupac songs still on my mp3 player...
Even if there isn't a large variation of vocal melody in that song, and trust me... Tupac has quite a lot of melodic range compared to your average rap artist, there's plenty of melody surrounding it.
Then I looked on my list here, and everybody else's, and I would say that there's plenty of melody in all of the choices here.
So I tried thinking real hard if there has ever been a song without melody that I've liked over the years, and I think I found one.
ETA: As not to offend those with more delicate sensibilities, because I'd like somebody to tell me if there is any melody here or not, I've opted to put the radio edit here instead of the uncensored version.
But is it really without melody? Listening to it now I don't believe that it is. Melody certainly isn't the driving force of this jam, but there is melody to it... Isn't there?
Or am I mistaking several really infectious hooks for melody here?

Oooh... That's a eerie tune. I think that's an example of a song that doesn't have any hooks.
What I mean by "hook" is the part of the music that sticks with you. Usually it's a phrase in the chorus or a riff. In the song I posted above, "Battleflag", I hadn't heard in well over a decade, but when it popped up on my recommended a year or two ago I rememberd it immediately and I've listened to it a lot since then.
Though I remembered some of the words (and was still hearing some of them wrong until I looked up the lyrics for it), it was really some of the beats and instrumental progressions that stuck with me.
I'm not sure if it's possible to have songs completely without a melody. Even the Philip Glass song that you posted has melody, although I can't imagine listening to it on a playlist and feel that it would almost have to be accompanied by whatever visuals were in the movie it was used in as an aide to set the proper mood.
But I think, that short of any rap outside of Bone Thugs and Tupac that I will occasionally still listen to, that Battle Flag by Lo Fi All-Stars is probably the closest thing to a song without melody that I actually enjoy.
I'm not very familiar with Billie Elish's work, but he put a few of her songs in there. The one song he put in there that I do remember grabbing my attention while I was at work one night was Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do". Though that's not a song I have on my mp3 player, I did kind of like it the few times I'd hear it at work and was surprised that it was Swift when I finally remembered to look it up.
He says in the song that the verse had 3 notes. The lead-up to the chorus has 2 notes, and the chorus uses 0 notes.
I think a song like this can be interesting and grab your attention when it's different than most of the songs around it, but I can't help but feel that in a different (future?) world where all the music coming out has extremely minimal melody that a song like this would be immediately forgotten 3 weeks later after it stopped getting radio play and was replaced by the next similar sounding song.
I'm thinking a lot about this now because I have noticed that when I go outside to work in the garage and listen to the radio and get exposed to new music, almost none of it grabs my attention at all, but then some come around that REALLY grab it like the Fire For You song I posted a few days ago and the songs I posted the last year or two in Brenda's Muzik threads.
I guess I'm trying to figure out "why" certain new songs grab my attention (even if I ultimately wouldn't listen to them a lot, like Swift's song), or I end up REALLY liking them like "Fire For You" or this one...

Trampoline and Take Me To Church have plenty of melody. Look What You Made Me Do has almost none. Yet, even though I really love Fire for You, many parts of the song I think are closer to Look What You Made Me Do in terms of the amount of melody there is in the song.
Sorry if I'm rambling. It's all just interesting to me why I like some music, and I'm completely indifferent to other music.
Though I wanted it to be simple and be able to say "I like music with melody", I don't think it's that simple at all. Not only does it appear that I enjoy some with very minimal melody, but I'm sure there's a ton of old music I could think of with plenty of melody that I'd never listen to outside of it being part of a movie or TV show.

I little more on the "Hook"...
Here's a song I loved in high school and still have on my playlist today. It wasn't until sometime after high school that I actually really listened to the words and understood it, and that's probably why I still like it so much more than the vocals or instruments.
The lyrics are priceless because he's poking fun at ME and anybody else listening to the song and enjoying it.... "The hook brings you back"
Blues Traveler was certainly nicer about their ribbing the audience than Kurt Cobain was... (That dude straight up hated his fans)...

What do you mean by "reviewing data packages"?
I heard one I hadn't heard in a long time on a youtube video but I immediately remembered it from my time spent playing Castlevania: Curse of Darkness on the original XBOX. The Castlevania series has has fantastic music since the original 80's game and ranks among my favorite collection of video game soundtracks along with the Final Fantasy series.
Nothing like a great soundtrack to really get you into a game. Songs like this, IMO are so good that they kind of ruin all but the best ones out there.

So SIX, having gone thru your last six posts, I don't think it's melody or chord progression or rhythm that catches you, I think it's lyrics.
Yes, it has to be listenable too, but listenable songs without interesting lyrics are kinda blah.
