A remarkable and nightmarish scene playing out in Portland should terrify anyone who cares about the US constitution

But sadly, they're too disorganized, too thoughtless, and too undisciplined to do that.

Seriously, they should just go home.

I honestly don't even know what they think they're going to accomplish. That they're going to drive the feds away by force? Or by sheer numbers? Not gonna' happen.

Maybe RF can explain what's the plan.

If the protestors were sensible, they would be working in a Get Out The Vote Drive. But in November they will probably vote for a third party candidate and therefore have zero influence, exactly the same as people who do not vote, on the next President. If Trump is correct about his Law and Order election strategy, the protestors are helping him. From less than an hour ago:

Trump made it very clear that Portland is a major part of his reelection strategy:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The Fake News Media is trying to portray the Portland and Seattle “protesters” as wonderful, sweet and innocent people just out for a little stroll. Actually, they are sick and deranged Anarchists & Agitators who our great men & women of Law Enforcement easily control, but who would destroy our American cities, and worse, if Sleepy Joe Biden, the puppet of the Left, ever won. Markets would crash and cities would burn. Our Country would suffer like never before. We will beat the Virus, soon, and go on to the Golden Age - better than ever before!

It's sad that so many here like 6 are total fascists, but are so completely stupid, they project that fascism onto those who put their lives on the line to oppose it.

Watched part of the video that REAVERBOT posted but couldn't stand the drivel. The "reporter" didn't even know his facts: It wasn't the Feds that made the PPD stop using teat gas, it was the city council.

What I WAS watching for was "who was doing what" in the background of all of that blah blah blah, and what I saw was a fairly static situation, with protestors advancing on a police line using green lasers and sometimes fireworks, and Federal officers driving them back with tear gas. There was no running and clubbing, no kettling, and no over-reaction by the Federal officers. They kept their cool for the most part, and even tho people are doing a lot of hand-wringing about how "untrained" they are, they actually seem quite well-trained for the situation, especially under constant provocation.

AFA there being "secret" police, what is happening in Portland doesn't seem to fit the definition. The individuals are wearing unit patches. They aren't wearing nametags for fear of being doxxed.

There is only one person that I know of who claims to have been picked up (Pettibone), and HIS experience was that he was loaded into a van, taken to a location (which turned out to be a courthouse), read his rights, questioned and let go without any charges being recorded.

OH, THE HORROR!

He was READ HIS RIGHTS!
He was QUESTIONED!
How could such a thing happen in America??

/snicker

The worst that even Washington Compost can come up with is that he was "terrifed" bc he thought the Federal officers were right-wing troublemakers. Oh dear! Maybe he needs to go find his "safe space".

I would consider it a problem if people were being taken to unknown locations and not read their rights or given an opportunity to make a phone call, and detained for longer than 48 hours without charges. But none of that happened. There was no "rough ride". No transfer from police station to police station to keep the lawyers from keeping up. No prolonged questioning, with the answers being "sweated out" under duress. No injuries.

It sounds like these Federales actually behave better than local PD. The idea that these are "secret police" is overwrought.

I wouldn't expect a Russian troll to express any understanding of American patriots fighting fascism. Trump is Putin's puppet, and will do his master's bidding, as he always has, and as you do, you obvious Russian troll.

Trump loves and admires Putin, and wants to follow Putin's model of fascism in Russia and apply it here.

Oh, wait. Are you going to try to tell us that Putin is NOT a fascist?

Once again you conflate fascism and communism, and show what a dolt you are.

And if democrats don't do any different, how are they any better?

I would expect a real left winger to know what the term "fascism" means and what it doesn't mean. Clearly, you know neither, so -once again- let me explain what fascism is and what it isn't.
Quote:

First, let me tell you what it DOESN'T mean:
It doesn't mean dictatorial, authoritarian, tyrannical, oppressive, autocratic, genocidal, racist, sexist, imperialist, warmongering, nationalistic, "Nazi", or any of the other more accurate perjorative terms that you can't seem to find.

Fascism isn't a political system, it's an ECONOMIC one. It is where the state exists to serve large corporations, such as in Italy under Mussolini.
Because corporate interests inherently conflict with the population at large, the government is often authoritarian as it seeks to impose (by force) corporate advantage over everyone. Therefore, fascism may require a strong non-democratic leader for its implementation, but that isn't a central feature.

If, for example, near-universal control of the media convinces the populace that corporations are benign and/or necessary, a government can be essentially fascist in a democratic setting.

http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=63758
I would argue that our government is democratic but we do have, indeed, a growing fascist economic policy, which has been developed by both parties for years.

Quote:

Trump is Putin's puppet , and will do his master's bidding
Jeezus, WHEN will you get off that hobby-horse? Not only has it been proven to be not true (Mueller report) it is being shown to be an actively perpetrated lie (Flynn and other cases). Yanno, for someone who claims to be all about fighting Federal "fascism", you sure suck the FBI's dick pretty hard!

Quote:

as he always has, and as you do, you obvious Russian troll.
Well, you're wrong; that's libel; but it's what you reach for when you've run out of rationality.

Quote:

Overlooking your OBVIOUS misuse of the word, what has Putin done? He's hardened Russai to economic and financial shocks. After 2008 and 2014+ sanctions he's
a) made Russia secure in agricultural production and become a net exporter of grains
b) engaged is a program of import substitution, making everything "at home" that used to be made abroad
c) floated the ruble to account for oil price wars
d) implemented his own SWIFT, which is hardened to cyberattack
e) paid off all of Russia's foreign-currency loans
f) paid off all of its government debt
g) encouraged savings by requiring Russian Central Bank (and thefore all banks) to pay high real interest payments and
h) developed strong economic ties with other sanctioned nations
i) improved Russian infrastructure
j) the Duma recently ratified a changed Russian Constitution which, among othe things, made RUSSIAN law supreme in Russia, as opposed to the provision forced on Russia in 2000 which made international law and international courts the final arbiter in Russia
k) stockpiled gold asa hedge against the collapse of the international currency
system

So Putin has done what I think the USA should do: MAKE WHAT YOU CAN, TRADE FOR WHAT YOU MUST. I would also add that IMHO a nation should seek to keep it's balance of trade neutral, since -if you're primarily an exporter-you depend on foreign markets, But if you're primarily an importer you depend on foreign production. Ifyou want to be truly free, you need to be economically independ

6ix, you praised Joker 80 times in two threads:

The worst scene in the movie. The point at which I thought that I was mislead by Rappy and I had gotten myself into a torture porn flick. As I've stated many, many times before, I don't like movies that fall under that category and would refuse to ever watch a Saw or a Kingsman movie for that very reason.

Most of those 80 posts you speak of weren't even praise of the movie. They were charts of theater takes for critically acclaimed Star Wars IX vs critically panned Joker, and just further evidence that the "critics" are really fucking terrible at their jobs.

The ones that were praise of the movie weren't praise of the Joker's motives. They were praise for Phoenix's amazing performance. The movie was exhausting to sit through. You never once will find a single comment I made in that thread where I ever stated or even implied that I was on board with Arthur's motives and actions.

On the other hand, you have stated quite a few times over the years that people should rise up and kill their bosses and steal everything they own as well as assasinate the president.

It's very little wonder that the only two Left Wing posters on this board that ever got admonished for their posts by Ted are you and your alter-ego Marcos. Of all the crazy shit that Ted says, and all the crazy shit that other Left wing posters have said over the years, only your two handles have gotten any pushback at all from Ted for posts you've made.

Love how you had only one minute in between this post and the next Marcos post.

Did you real quick log out and log back in under your Reaverfan handle to make the next post, or did you take up my suggestion to have two browsers running simultaneously so you can be logged in as both of your profiles at the same time?

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Joker says, "It’s okay, Gary. You can go." It is NOT okay, assuming you're not in thrall to this movie. If the Joker lets Gary go, he will call 911. Before Joker can change cloths, the police will be there. (It would be trivial to fix the scene by having Joker say, "Take a seat, Gary." Then when Joker leaves, the audience doesn't know whether Gary is alive or dead, thus increasing the tension.) Let’s play the next scene, which is famous because of the music, not the acting, Rock N' Roll (Part 2)

But IMHO, if you're abducted by such a well-equipped and well-trained unit, whether they are law officers or not, I would suggest that you submit anyway because resistance will only get you killed if these people are outside of the law, and is pointless if they're operating within the law.
