Senator Wyden, along with several other Senate Democrats, also pushed for similar amendment in the Senate, sending a letter to their colleagues in the Appropriations Committee on July 24.
The measure, which was filed as an amendment to the upcoming House Appropriations bill, is co-sponsored by Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib, of Michigan, Deb Haaland of New Mexico, and Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri. The House Rules Committee is meeting today to decide which of the hundreds of amendments filed will be considered this week.

Watched part of the video that REAVERBOT posted but couldn't stand the drivel. The "reporter" didn't even know his facts: It wasn't the Feds that made the PPD stop using teat gas, it was the city council.
What I WAS watching for was "who was doing what" in the background of all of that blah blah blah, and what I saw was a fairly static situation, with protestors advancing on a police line using green lasers and sometimes fireworks, and Federal officers driving them back with tear gas. There was no running and clubbing, no kettling, and no over-reaction by the Federal officers. They kept their cool for the most part, and even tho people are doing a lot of hand-wringing about how "untrained" they are, they actually seem quite well-trained for the situation, especially under constant provocation.
AFA there being "secret" police, what is happening in Portland doesn't seem to fit the definition. The individuals are wearing unit patches. They aren't wearing nametags for fear of being doxxed.
There is only one person that I know of who claims to have been picked up (Pettibone), and HIS experience was that he was loaded into a van, taken to a location (which turned out to be a courthouse), read his rights, questioned and let go without any charges being recorded.
OH, THE HORROR!

He was QUESTIONED!
How could such a thing happen in America??

I would consider it a problem if people were being taken to unknown locations and not read their rights or given an opportunity to make a phone call, and detained for longer than 48 hours without charges. But none of that happened. There was no "rough ride". No transfer from police station to police station to keep the lawyers from keeping up. No prolonged questioning, with the answers being "sweated out" under duress. No injuries.
It sounds like these Federales actually behave better than local PD. The idea that these are "secret police" is overwrought.

I posted earlier how it is that local and (presumably) peaceful protestors are being (perhaps) unwittingly used as cover by external agents - and what they should do to stop the imported violence that's the pretext for federal involvement.
But sadly, they're too disorganized, too thoughtless, and too undisciplined to do that.
Seriously, they should just go home.
I honestly don't even know what they think they're going to accomplish. That they're going to drive the feds away by force? Or by sheer numbers? Not gonna' happen.
