No... I'm afraid there are far too many variables here.

I don't think this said much about Trump at all. It was much more likely a referendum on the far left wing of the party... The Sanders/AOC/Gang of Four/Cenk Uygur's Justice Democrats, etc...

But even saying that is tenuous at best, because of the nature of Virginia's Open Primaries.

They're just about as Open as you can get, with the only restriction being that you can't vote in both primaries.

While everything your article here claims could possibly be true, it's much more likely that up to half of those who voted in the primary yesterday were people who are going to vote for Trump in November.

They know that they live in an important state in the election, and they are reminded every day of that. It's very likely that Republicans voted against Bernie because his brand of Socialism is scary to most people in this country, and on the off chance that Trump loses in November they'd feel much more comfortable with more of the same than wild left politicians gaining ground.

2 Top Democratic Groups Form Alliance to Support Joe Biden

WASHINGTON — Two of the most prominent outside Democratic groups are forming a partnership to pool resources and research to help elect former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. this fall, an attempt at consolidating fund-raising in an increasingly competitive marketplace for third-party organizations.

Unite the Country, the super PAC formed late last year to support Mr. Biden, and the progressive group American Bridge are teaming up to coordinate their efforts in hopes of raising about $175 million together to defeat President Trump in November, leaders from the two groups said Monday.

“It made more sense to raise money together than raise money competing against one another,” said Steve Schale, who helps run Unite the Country.

The partnership will be co-chaired by Deval Patrick, the former Massachusetts governor and a late entrant into this year’s presidential race, and former Gov. Jennifer Granholm of Michigan.

“We don’t want redundancy,” said Bradley Beychok, the president of American Bridge, which also counts the longtime Democratic strategists James Carville and Jim Messina as advisers.

While the groups are not merging, and will continue to do some work separately, they are going to coordinate their polling and opposition research while also planning their advertising buys together. The two groups combined have raised over $70 million so far this campaign.

The alliance comes as Mr. Biden has gained a nearly insurmountable lead in the Democratic primary race and the coronavirus outbreak has effectively frozen the campaign. But what has not been put on hold is the jockeying among third-party groups to position themselves with donors as the go-to organization helping to elect the former vice president and defeat Mr. Trump.

A constellation of various Democratic groups have been quietly vying for the favor — and the checks — of major Democratic contributors for months.

The biggest Democratic super PAC from the 2016 cycle, Priorities USA, has operated continuously since then, and announced a $150 million ad budget leading up to the Democratic National Convention.

Just on Friday, the group announced an additional $17 million digital ad buy.

The partnership between American Bridge and Unite the Country represents an attempt to present themselves as this campaign’s leading outside Democratic entity — and to pre-emptively box out Priorities from making that claim.

Allies of both Bridge and Priorities have been pressing Democratic officials to nudge Mr. Biden’s campaign to send a signal about which group it prefers, according to people directly familiar with the conversations.

Yet it’s unclear how Mr. Biden’s campaign views the matter and whether it will signal such a preference. His team is somewhat restricted because campaign finance laws prohibit overt coordination between campaigns and super PACs.

And on Monday, a representative for Mr. Biden declined to say which, if any, of the groups the campaign wanted to see as the main outside organization.

During the primaries, Unite the Country had been the lone major super PAC supporting Mr. Biden.

But after Mr. Biden scored major victories on March 10, top officials at both Priorities and American Bridge — within minutes of each other — tweeted their support for Mr. Biden, declaring him to be the de facto nominee.

“We will be ALL IN to elect @JoeBiden as our next President,” wrote Mr. Beychok, the American Bridge president.

Biden should not, under any circumstances, pick Harris as his running mate.

He's blowing any chances he might have had if he does.

He's already backed himself into a corner where he can't pick Bernie because it would destroy his campaign overnight and obliterate his female turnout after making a promise he would pick a female VP.

So... No Bernie, bruh. There goes a huge portion of the youth Democrat vote.

Whoopsie.

But Harris has a long history of putting black men behind bars that shouldn't be there and keeping the for-profit prison system full of labor. At this point, I don't think that's a well known fact about her since she was never a very serious contender for President. But if she gets the nod, the entire country will know about it. A lot of the black vote are going to just stay at home.

And then you're left with both low youth turnout and low black turnout.

Isn't identity politics fun?

Uncle Joey knows how fun it is right now.

His only two "legitimate" choices are Klobuchar and Gillibrand.

If he picks either Harris or Warren he is ending his campaign and handing victory Trump as soon as he makes that announcement.

Poll: Key swing states of Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan leaning toward Biden

Joe Biden, newly established as the presumptive Democratic nominee with the exit of Sen. Bernie Sanders from the race, leads President Trump in several crucial battleground states, according to Microsoft News sentiment polling.

These states have shown changes in sentiment towards Biden in the range of 2 to 5 percent over the past month.

Since March 1, sentiment for Biden increased by 3 percent in Florida to 51 percent. In Wisconsin, sentiment increased by 5 percent and by 4 percent in Pennsylvania.

Voter sentiment for Biden has increased in Michigan by 2 percent to 51 percent.

As the coronavirus lockdown began, the first impulse was to search for historical analogies—1914, 1929, 1941? As the weeks have ground on, what has come ever more to the fore is the historical novelty of the shock that we are living through. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, America’s economy is now widely expected to shrink by a quarter. That is as much as during the Great Depression. But whereas the contraction after 1929 stretched over a four-year period, the coronavirus implosion will happen over the next three months. There has never been a crash landing like this before. There is something new under the sun. And it is horrifying.

As recently as five weeks ago, at the beginning of March, U.S. unemployment was at record lows. By the end of March, it had surged to somewhere around 13 percent. That is the highest number recorded since World War II. We don’t know the precise figure because our system of unemployment registration was not built to track an increase at this speed. On successive Thursdays, the number of those making initial filings for unemployment insurance has surged first to 3.3 million, then 6.6 million, and now by another 6.6 million. At the current rate, as the economist Justin Wolfers pointed out in the New York Times, U.S. unemployment is rising at nearly 0.5 percent per day. It is no longer unimaginable that the overall unemployment rate could reach 30 percent by the summer.

Thursday’s news confirms that the Western economies face a far deeper and more savage economic shock than they have ever previously experienced. Regular business cycles generally start with the more volatile sectors of the economy—real estate and construction, for instance, or heavy engineering that depends on business investment—or sectors that are subject to global competition, such as the motor vehicles industry. In total, those sectors employ less than a quarter of the workforce. The concentrated downturn in those sectors transmits to the rest of the economy as a muffled shock.

The coronavirus lockdown directly affects services—retail, real estate, education, entertainment, restaurants—where 80 percent of Americans work today. Thus the result is immediate and catastrophic. In sectors like retail, which has recently come under fierce pressure from online competition, the temporary lockdown may prove to be terminal. In many cases, the stores that shut down in early March will not reopen. The jobs will be permanently lost. Millions of Americans and their families are facing catastrophe.

You do realize that the same people who voted for Trump will be energized to vote for him again by this song. It powerfully reassures them that he can really do what he says, if only those Democrats and the media would stop nay-saying. I would believe, too, but only if Trump successfully orders America back to work, back to normal. He doesn't have the courage to give those orders. I just want to point out how seriously America has become a service economy. All those non-essential jobs? They're non-essential service work like wait-staffing, car-driving, cold-calling etc ... and gig work. They're make-work.

Covid-19 has revealed a lot of the booby-traps of our economy. Aside from moving our production overseas, long supply chains, and the fragility of 'just-in-time' thinking, the hollowness of our infrastructure, and the literal bankruptcy of the financial system, it's revealed the irrelevance of many jobs. That's what COVID-19 has revealed.

You like digging up old posts. Why don't you dig up the one we had a year or two ago where we were discussing overpopulation and I was saying exactly that. I didn't need a fake media driven panic over a hardly dangerous virus to tell me that.

Not only are there already far too many people for the planet to provide for, but most of our existences are merely superfluous to boot.

The US isn't a service economy BECAUSE there are too many people in the US. The US isn't a service economy BECAUSE there are too many people on the planet. COVID-19 has nothing at all to do with the US being a service economy except the virus put the number of already existing non-essential jobs in the spotlight. The lack of productive jobs in the US economy doesn't make people superfluous, there certainly is more than enough productive work that needs to be done. And the overpopulation 'truth' that you've recently clued into has been thought about, known about, talked about, written about, and read about by millions of people since 1798, making your insight minuscule and rather late, and you not very special.
