What was wrong is that the excellent script for "Duel of the Fates" was not chosen over the piece of crap script "The Rise of Skywalker". Whoever was doing the choosing couldn't tell the difference between a good story and a Star Wars parody.

The first 5 minutes of "The Rise of Skywalker" is a ridiculous start. Kylo Ren murders 50 people to get the device showing him where the Emperor is, flies across the Universe, marches up to the Emperor with his light-saber, then doesn't cut off the Emperor's head. That scene does not work since Kylo Ren stops killing for no damn reason. The whole movie is full of no damn reason for what anybody does. It is a completely forgettable mess, unlike my favorite Star Wars, The Mandalorian, where every scene in the first 3 episodes is memorable and everything makes sense because it is done for a good reason.

I'm not going to argue with you that Rise of Skywalker was a good movie. I'm starting to think that might be what you think I'm doing.

My point is that no script was going to fix the problem. The damage had already been done with three movies prior to whatever Episode 9 was going to be. (Some people seemed to like Rogue One, so I'm not counting that, although it was a story nobody asked anybody to tell that cashed in on nostalgia of a single line spoken decades ago).

They had ZERO plan for what the trilogy was going to be when they started it. There was only 3 rules:

1. George Lucas wasn't going to have any input whatsoever.
2. The entire extended universe was removed from cannon.
3. "The Force is Female."



Your alternate script wasn't going to fix any of those mistakes.

6ix, Disney isn't deliberately trying to offend you.

The real problem at Disney is that, for Star Wars, Disney can't tell a good script "Duel of the Fates" from a terrible script "The Rise of Skywalker".

Another real problem at Disney is that they take forever to make decisions -- 8 months to decide what to do about a dead actress from a drug overdose. Recasting Princess Leia is the obvious solution, but Disney fired the director instead, which is crazy.

Another real problem at Disney is their hyper-secrecy. They can't make plans because they are afraid that if they wrote anything down for the second and third movie in a trilogy it would leak to the public. The result is they don't write anything and they don't make plans, which is crazy.

Another real problem is that Disney does not know who can write. Disney must think anybody can write a script for any kind of movie, which is crazy. Disney assigned Happy Hogan from Iron Man to write The Mandalorian. That should have been a catastrophe of a decision. Disney got really lucky it wasn't, but Disney is crazy for giving the project to Happy Hogan.

Oh. That's great to know. I wasn't going to watch a new Star Wars movie even if it was the next Citizen Kane, so it doesn't bother me that they "accidentally" offend me then.

"The Force is Female" isn't cute. It's combative. The writers of Episode 7 came out and said that the Empire was the White Patriarchy in America.

STFU about these two possibilities. It didn't matter. They already ruined it and turned Star Wars into something that nobody is excited about anymore.



When you double production costs for marketing, and you consider that they only make a maximum profit of 65% of the box office in the states and 45% profit abroad, they have a LONG way to go before they make their money back.

They'd better purge their woke people from the crew going forward if they ever want to make that money back and actually start showing a profit.

You keep complaining about the politics, but what is wrong is that the people making decisions can NOT tell the difference between good scripts and crap. In the finished movie, they can tell, but not at the script-only stage. Really, they can't tell from a script. Once the movie is made, they are forced to pretend it is great. It has nothing to do with woke people.

The classic example, also from LucasFilm, is Indiana Jones 4. There were two scripts. Which one got made? The crappy one.

There are two articles explaining why one script is good and the other is crap, but it is too sad that most people in Hollywood will never understand the excruciatingly simple differences. They are nearly completely deaf, dumb and blind to differences in quality while the movie is only a script and yet these same people cannot shut the fuck up about their artistic vision. They don't realize they have very little vision when they are reading a script. Their artist vision only starts working when it is far too late, when the film is nearly finished:

1) Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods (the excellent script)

A lot of love and heart went into Frank Darabont’s rejected Indiana Jones and the City of Gods script. There is NO question that his script would have been THE film Indy fans were waiting for. There is also NO question about its superiority of craftsmanship over Koepp’s or most likely any other draft.

What is happening in Hollywood? Too soon to tell, too late to change. It is always too soon to tell if the script will make a good movie, but once production has started it is too late to change the script that is the map to a bad movie.

My point is, the woke people need to go. Woke NEVER works. Filming a woke script is the equivalent of taking pallets of $100 bills and setting them on fire.


If you want a scenario where the best you can hope for is a coin toss, then you need to take the blatant agenda out of the film, and for christssake you need to put a muzzle on your actors and staff.

Of the recent woke flops out there, Birds of Prey itself supposedly wasn't all that bad compared to the rest of them, but you wouldn't know it hearing Ewan McGregor at interviews.



We'll see if Tim Miller learned the lesson. From a recent interview, I don't think he really has yet. He's getting warmer...
